He was under pressure to gain like 30 pounds of muscle back in a year or whatever… Ive seen pics of him 10-14 pounds heavier with even bigger lets and a bigger back… if they had made this film like 3 years prior.. you would have REALLY seen the austian oak.. he was like 252.. not 240… even look up that “Ilove lucy” episode with Arnold.. check out high huge legs!   • Just been watching the video and reading some of the comments. Someone mentions Plato and his Dialogues. It reminded me of a story I read about Milo of Croton. Look him up, true historical character. He’s considered to be the first strongman.
    Very interesting story. I read about him in a training magazine from Men’s Fitness. Basically the story goes that his father would get him to lift a baby Ox onto his shoulders every day. As he grew up, so did the Ox. And therefore his strength level increased over time until he was built up like a brick shit house!

  • Lou was too young. He didn’t have the muscle maturity to be able to compete against Arnold. Arnold being older had the vascular maturity and the mindset needed to freak his competitors out. There was NO WAY Arnold could lose. His mindset would not let that happen. Still an absolutely fantastic piece on all accounts. Louie’s father didn’t help in the way he meant to.

  • In the original script, the roles were supposed to be switched. Lou was supposed to be this antagonist and arnold the protagonist.

  • One thing I always found was that Pumping Iron is made to look like Arnold is the hero and Lou is the rival..villain. However in the documentary when you see their personalities. Lou is more of the Rocky type character and Arnold is more Apollo.

The page has a lot of shitty ads but if you can get through them and search for pumping iron(searchbar top right) you’ll find it.
