  • I worked out legs AT THE PARK With NO WEIGHTS four days ago and I’m still just a tiny bit sore. Can I workout legs again today even with the slight soreness?

  • @trex the doctor answered the question

Use ice if you have a swelling or sore muscle and if you have an inflamed joint or chronic injury use heat.

  • I play Basketball, and Soccer and next grade of middle school, football and i went over to my cousins house to practice with them i played B ball all day long crossing peoples ankles and green lighting every thing and my left muscle is hell

  • I use ice bath and it works just fine, besides my growth is not in any way affected so I think that’s a little bit of misinformation. If you’re not use to coffee go lain how to use a pure coffee seed.

  • Hopefully this works because I need to do 2 hours and 15 minutes of CrossFit every last period at school even if my muscles hurt

  • I would like to know how to stop the reswelling of injuries, I hit my forearm on the door handle and fell on my elbow about 5 years ago and since then it the pain keeps going and coming

  • Well said. Great stretching helps to release tension in your muscles. You can also use a great Gun Massager for: myofascial release, lactic acid decomposition, deep massage. Hightly recommended. Stay healthy and flexible 😉

  • Jeremy: Four cups of coffee before a workout have been show to help, but this is infeasible for most people.

  • I worked out without stretching one time and biggest mistake of my life and on top of that it was the hardest I’ve ever worked out

  • I kinda like the feeling of being sore. means I can feel my progress. however I don’t like it when im still sore when its time to workout again…

  • Getting back into training after a decade of being a nurse. I should have watched this video first because I pushed myself too much on my first leg day. I think it’s kinda difficult not to push yourself too much in the gym when everyone around is super fit and pushing themselves also. I think I will take your advice and go a little easier on my leg day because this is now day #3 of recovery and I am still in lots of pain.

  • so ive been lifting to cut for a few months, and also work at a grocery store where i unload a truck several times a week. does this change how much i should work out or recover?

  • Heat increases blood supply and thus increases the inflammation by bringing more WBC to the area…and the inflammatory pain like soreness will rise…
So APPLY COLD ON INFLAMED MUSCLE/SORE MUSCLE

If you have traumatic(not inflammatory, pain begins right away in traumatic,24hr later in inflammatory) traumatic injuries leading to decreased blood supply like blue discoloration of that area…..you can apply HEAT/it will increase the blood supply…….relieve pain.
Trauma can be after a fight, hitting your leg on a furniture, fall

  • Lol I have cups of coffee a day. An lots of water of course to make up for the dehydration. Rather do this that over spend on pre workout shakes.

  • I cannot sit and stand without pressing my knees because of pain, I had my exercise and this is my day four, i do squats too, hope this’ll be over soon, want to continue my workout.

  • I hardly exercise, but I used a curl bar and lifted it 50 times. It was very painful for me because my arms are skinny… but my older sister did 175, and we’re both sore so here I am.

  • I wasn’t able to dance for a while bc I injured my knee and ankle and then I started having issues with my upper body (collar bone and arms) and a couple nights ago I said oh well I wanna dance again so I danced non stop and keep in mind mainly the only thing I was able to do for a while was just walk and stretch

  • I STARTED SQUATTING ALONG WITH MY REGULAR EXCERCISE TODAY..
DAY 1:40 SQUATTS WITH MY REGULAR HARD WORKOUT…

DAY 2:MY THIGHS AND BACK ARE SORE…COULD’NT DO MY REGULAR WORKOUT EVEN… MUSSAGE HELPS A LOT TEMPORARILY…..

  • Calisthenics workout my biceps and triceps are done and my core a little so since my core is only barley sore looks like it’s abs and legs today

  • I have a question related to DOM, are there any illnesses or diseases or anything you can think of that would cause someone 50 years old that gets sore after every workout. Until I had back surgery 2 years ago for a ruptured L4/L5 disc this never happened unless I worked out really hard then it went away like always. Now my legs get sore after every workout I do. I am not even talking about a hard workout. I mean 20 easy exercises for 30 seconds of work with 10 seconds of rest. Simple things like squats, lunges, pushups, the rest are just marching, moving side to side, maybe a bird dog or plank. I have been struggling with this soreness, no matter if I wait longer to workout or try and go every other day or every day. It feels like I have been doing 20 sets of 225 squats or something like I used to do 5 years ago and even then after a few days it would go away and I would not be sore again. I have had blood work done, my testosterone levels etc and everything seems to check out for my age, upped my vitamin D even though its not low. This has been going on for over a year now and does not lessen. Always super sore, I have some nephropathy nerve damage from the disc. Can you think of anything that I might be missing or recommend the type of doctor I need to see? Do you think taking Creatine might help?

  • I did like 10 push ups, 10 sit ups, zumba and calisthenics in 1 hour and now my whole body hurts, espeacially around my arm pits, arms, and shoulders. Man, im unfit af.

  • This guy’s voice is so relaxing… most PT’s or fitness YouTubers are all up in your face screaming like a drill instructor. Kudos

  • I did 10 hours stretching yesterday… And I wanted to stretch again today but apparently I can’t…. (can’t even sit properly…) So here I am!

  • So now I need a foam roller and that’s all I can do with the omega 3s cause I’m calisthenics bro don’t got those machines I could ride a bike I guess but then I’d need to buy a bike but I don’t want to do cardio so pass

  • Haven’t even ran in so long due to Covid and i played one game of 1 on 1 ball and it hurts to walk sit on the toilet and scratch my back

  • Thank you for this. I just started working out again and I’m so sore. I kept putting it off because I knew it would be painful the next few days. The faster I can get through this the faster I can see results.

  • I always go for a good walk after my workout, then i have lunch after. The walk is the best solution for me. I also do a few stretches.

  • I did one of those booty workouts on youtube . I did it 5 times in a row and I was tired. Today when I woke up, my back and thighs were killing me EVERYTIME i used them.

  • I play cricket and I was doing intense training with my club after quite a long time (quarantine) but my muscles weren’t THAT painful but after I woke up the next morning I legit can’t move a bone. My dad took me to 2 hours of fitness today and tomorrow I have a match.

  • 5 h workout yesterday but i dont regret it am i the only one Who likes soreness because you feel like then you did something or its working

  • So I fell on my right butt cheek couple years ago. I did go to pt which it did help. I’ve recently lost about 90 pounds and the pain is starting to bother me now. The pain start in the are where I fell and kinda go down my leg it’s more kinda annoying that hurtful. What kind of stretch can I do to ease some of the pain?

  • What about a soak in a hot tub with sore muscle bath salts? I have done that once so far and feel that it helped my recovery faster.

  • All athletes know the pain when that one person makes you run more cause they won’t shut up that happened to me today we couldn’t even run without falling it was that bad

  • I love your videos Joanna! I actually lost 60lbs after having my daughter and your guidance was a wheel turner for me! As a massage therapist I often have to explain to my clients (especially marathon/triathlon goers) that deep tissue massage is not recommended when you have overly exerted your muscles. It can damage the tissue and cause what is called kick back pain, where your muscles will constrict further in an attempt to prevent further problems. More often than not I would suggest sports massage to my clients which consists of a lot of passive stretching. Massage can be painful (especially myofascial work) but you should never be bruised or feel worse off than you did before. Just wanted to give some input from this side of the wellness spectrum:).

  • I have a hip flexor strain on both sides I’ve been doing these exercises to help strengthen them but it hurts after I do them is this normal?

  • Ice bath and stretch are definitely the way to go.

Studies can be flawed in their methodology and shouldn’t always be the final say so.

Innumerable professional athletes from fighters to football players and runners, even military special forces, utilize ice baths regularly and incorporate regular stretching into their routine. Utilize what works for your body.

  • Hey there, I am a 14 year old boy and I just started getting back into exercising and doing workouts (For a very long time I have just been going on slow walks and just lying in my bed all day), I have been doing stomach workouts and I started on Friday (24th) and I was fine until Saturday I woke up and got pain in my upper thigh, now it is Sunday and should I keep doing the workout everyday the one I started Friday with or is it best to the relax or do different stretching etc. Would love some feedback, Thank you!

  • “Roll the parts of the body you worked that day” he says. Well, I played baseball for the first time in over 20 years and I am pretty much sure I worked 99% of the muscles in my body. Maybe a steamroller would be the better option? On a serious note, why not mention massage? I realize that it takes a second person to get the full body, but anyone with a spouse or partner could manage.

  • “If you have a healthy heart”, a sauna / hot tub, and cold shower afterward, or just the hot tub, is the “most effective treatment” of normal muscle workout pain, “not injuries” IE ligament tears etc, though heat is useful on that too when diagnosed properly. “Don’t take pharmaceuticals, even over the counter stuff, IE Tylenol, Ibuprofen etc “regularly”. They can lead to serious problems with the liver, and other complications. Anti-inflammatory foods like (fresh pineapple), (leafy greens / amino acids), strawberries, will be most effective. Sometimes, on rare occasions a good shot of Schnapps, or whisky, and a long nap helps when your really hurting like after a long day skiing.: ) “Don’t be a girly man!”

  • Ok, I have a solution for you all. First off, I avidly workout and consider myself constantly sore. I have tried all sorts of different medications and techniques and discovered that cdb Quanta vapes are the best solution. Cbd is the best natural anti-inflammatory and by vaping it, it doesn’t have to go through your liver. Instead, it goes straight into your blood stream, maximizing its potential. Trust me it works and if you are scared about drug tests or getting high don’t be, it doesn’t show up on drug tests.

Use ice if your injury(soreness) is new(within 48hrs), if your injury is heating/burning up and to relieve swelling.
Use heat if your injury has been chronic(long-term), to relax muscles and don’t use if injury is burning up especially on joints(if i heard correctly) & heat helps in faster healing.

Conclusion: use according to the type of your soreness.
