  • Don’t get discouraged and eat donuts. I am used to weight loss plataeus. I am experiencing one now and had them during a weight loss journey 5 years ago.

  • I went from really awful diet to super healthy diet and lost 80 lbs in 6 months. I lost another 40 in the next 6 months. I lost 20 in the next six months. Then it just stopped, totally ridiculous. I peddled 5,000 km over the summer and gained 10 lbs. Since cycling season ended, I’ve lost 3 lbs. I’ve got at least another 40 lbs to take off, and it just isn’t moving. I don’t eat sugar or fast food. I eat 8 servings of fresh veggies/fruit per day. These people have no idea what a plateau is.

  • I have seen myself the same on the mirror but I have seen weight change on the scale and my pants used to fit me right but now I have to use the belt tightly otherwise they fall so I believe I am growing muscle but losing fat.

  • I am not sure if I understood this correctly, but for example if I burned 300kcal during my workout, therefore the meal after the workout should not exceed 300 kcal? It has to be 300 kcal or less?

  • While it’s important to point out that this video has a lot of incorrect information in it, there is some truth to what’s being said. Your body doesn’t necessarily have a “set point”, because our bodies have no concept of mass and/or weight but it does have a set level of calories that it burns every day. If you eat under that, your body/brain is going to tell you that it’s hungry (like the empty fuel analogy the video uses). The part the video fails to mention, is that there’s nothing forcing you to eat if you’re hungry, you can ignore that feeling for a pretty long period of time. The other factor that influences our hunger is the body’s production of the ‘hunger hormone’, Ghrelin. For efficiencies sake, our body produces ghrelin at similar times throughout the day because it gets used to when we tend to eat. That being said, you can retrain your body to produce more or less ghrelin by eating more or less food. So over time, if you eat less, your body will produce less ghrelin. The video is also correct in saying that as you lose mass (weight, lbs or kgs), your body burns less calories. However, that isn’t so that your body can maintain weight at a ‘set point’, it’s because it requires less energy to move a smaller amount of mass.

  • The “modern environment” is an environment not only “Amanda” lives in is a environment shared by every member of that society, and guess what not all members, in fact, a good part of societal members exposed to this “modern environment” are not obese, and there are numerous people who have been obese and lost weight, proof of concept that changing lifestyle is capable of beating fat and that fat IS a lifestyle choice, its time to stop blaming everyone else for “Amandas” lack of drive, and realise that obesity is caused by the obese individual not by the “environment they live in”, stop blaming society for our wrongdoings.
    This comes from someone fighting weight capable enough to accept that his actions have consequences and that is morally integral enough to not blame other people for my lack of self control.

    Set points are modifiable trough routines after loosing fat and consistency, set points are not engraved in stone, and it took her “amanda” a lot of time to “set her point” as high as it is now.

    i was wondering in a meal package such as instant noodle, says the amount of total calorie is 320, should i also include its carbo into calorie? it got 42 carbo, which means its actual total calorie is 452, or the 320 total calorie already include its carbo and other nutrients?

I gained 11 pounds of running and walking up to 2 hours.   • Exercise and healthy, limited eating. That is the answer. Everyone wants to complicate the answer. You need a calorie deficit of 3500 to lose 1 pound. You can do it from exercise, eating healthy, or both. That’s it. Tip 1: if you can’t remember everything you ate in a day, you are eating too much. Tip 2: the body thrives on consistency, its a slow and steady marathon not a sprint. Tip 3 weigh yourself every morning after the bathroom. Wear the same clothing. The trend should be down. Tip 4: Do a limited exercise program that you can easily fit in at home. If you have to drive to a gym, or its too long and intense, you won’t do it. Tip 5: layoff the booze, sugary drinks, etc. The odd drink is ok. Tip 6: Walk and move, everything you can do burns calories. Take the stairs, walk to the store, it all adds up. Today’s society is all about labour saving. Motion is lotion. Tip 7: Want to look great? Get your BMI down near 20. Guys will have abs and women will be lean and mean. Tip 8: Don’t believe any of this lose 15 pounds in a week etc. That will only happen if you get a limb amputated. There is no silver bullet, it takes focus, dedication, consistency.
