  • useful journal planner to help you with your diet ‍♀️: fitness Journal for Women: 90 Days Challenge for Weight Loss
    (Amazon books)

  • I have no idea how much a gram is. Would you please explain that? Thank you so much. I just found your channel and subscribed immediately.

  • hi im just 49 kgs but i hate my belly coz its big how can i make this flat?this happens after prgnancy my daughter is now 3 years old but still my belly is annoying me pls help tnx

  • I agree, I eat like this, my lifestyle…got my health back, speed up my metabolism, lost 9kg in 7 months, lost depression with it..actually I lost my down mood with I started eating fruits and general healthy eating. Technically I did not have depression I had vitamin and mineral deficiency…That is what happens when you avoid fruits and veggies and only eat meat and fat and sometimes bread and pasta.

Avoid: alcohol, any calorie drinks even smoothies, no milk products and avoid too much process food and junk food or fast food.. Eat your food, use your teeth or lose them. Avoid too much of added sugar, read labels for stuff you do not prepare(tomato souse, peanut butter, dark chocolate)

Do workouts: mostly weight training, it is fun for me and it helps me grow muscles and be strong. My cardio is cleaning the house XD I hate cardio in general, at least this way I do something with it.

Eat: home cooked meals, plan everything before eating. In my case: Oatmeal, seeds(sesame seeds, chia seeds..), spices(cinnamon, ginger, turmeric….) herbs(basil, parsley…and many others), fruits a lot with oatmeal, quinoa,nuts(peanuts,almonds..),peanut butter, boiled veggies the more the better(potatoes, broccoli, corn, beans, eggplant….) green veggies, legumes (lentils, chickpeas, beans). More cooked and boiled less fried and using a pan. Fresh veggies(carrots, tomatoes….what ever you like), meat(white meatchicken, turkey or fish tuna or other). Dark chocolate (75-85%) 20g a day and cookie or two with your black coffee. A lots of water and lemonade without sugars. Vitamins: B complex, AD3, C, E, Omega 3, zinc and selenium….if you have eaten too much of fiber(it happens) menthol tea and Probiotic. Eat healthy fats, but in moderation. And by healthy I mean the less processed ones
Sometimes you can eat bacon or red meat, bread…but not every day. If you drop too much kgs at once, eat it.Once in month or two is fine.
The more different food you eat the better… and the more colorful plates are the better(not because it looks pretty it is because different types of vitamins and minerals..)

General rules: Never have a large calorie deficit(-200 calories max)..do not starve or overeat and have a rest days when you are maintain only not being in deficit, eat more when working out a meal after lifting weight usually some meat with bread or potatoes and some veggies(extra meal). Sleep 8-10 hours a day or at least 6..anything under 6 is a big problem. Avoid stress and drama as much as you can. Do not eat before sleeping if you are insomniac when full of food, some sleep better with on empty stomach, some better with full, see how your body function better.
If you make a mistake, you get back on the path, do not feel guilty and hate yourself, it is just one day…even 2-5 days will not do much damage….some yes but not too much.
When stating a new lifestyle, do it step by step..if you do it all at once it will be hard. Slow progress is better because less stress on your mind and body.
I think that is it…in time I may find out some other things.

  • Started keto this past april 2020, as of last week was down 41 pounds, as of today, down 37 pounds. . I gained 4 pounds in less than a week. After watching this video, I think not drinking enough water might be the culprit. Let’s hope, because I’m pretty discouraged this morning.

  • Started Keto diet yesterday. I messed up big time. I have too much meat in my first week. I’m just glad I realized my first week instead of 6 months or a year in.

  • Dr. Des please add a Vitamin D video to your excellent vegan nutrition catalogue. For Vitamin D there seems to be an especially great amount of confusing information online. Your videos are most enlightening in application of a vegan diet. i prefer your presentation style to most others. As a vegan for only 1.5 years I had only known about a vegan’s need to track and supplement B12. I now regularly eat: nori seaweed for iodine, pumpkin seeds for zinc and natto for K2. I hope to further tune my diet. Great thanks.

  • Yeah, I bought the book. I agree it’s fantastic book, the online citation reference was so good. Have you started implementing any of the stuff with yourself? I’m video logging my results with the book, and so far I have to admit I’m very impressed. only 8 days in.. 11 pounds lighter. I know a lot of it is water from far less sodium and processed stuff. but it makes an amazing difference, and besides that my strength just increased on my lifts.. I love the whole foods plant based approach.

  • Bail ó Dhia.. can general blokes make sense of the content of the book or would you need to be a knowledgeable bloke to make head or tail of it?

  • I can’t even count how many times I pull up Dr. Harrington card and send people to your genious videos on different topics regarding vegan health! Your stuff is really something special. You talk about things that no other plant based doctor talks about. And you deliver them in a way even anti-vegans wouldn’t be triggered that much! AWESOME!

  • Thank you. Somehow I haven’t come across this channel before, have subscribed to it just now. Like many people I’m a long time admirer of Dr. Greger, have a copy of the book in my lap now, it’s just been delivered. Before tearing the clear plastic wrap suddenly thought to search for a review of it and found this video. Indeed the book seems to be just as expected. I’m pleased to watch the enthusiastic positive review. Thanks.

  • Hi. Losing weight was a challenge. but I managed to lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks by following this guide: the2weekdietnow (search it on the internet)

  • To Dr. Harrington; you’ve been through the wars and all the more respect due you for speaking out. Who knew this book would engender this flurry of controversary?

  • I thank you for this review; did due diligence regarding the vegan community as we have come to know it; 2 of its best exponents, your countrymen the twins the Happy Pear have built up a community in the place of their birth and defy my sister’s definition of an Irish AA meeting; she is still looking for leprechans (sp) and in many ways remains my hero: but quote “they couldn’t have been sober they were too happy”, which makes sense after Scotland.:) There is an American (there’s always an American) person with a website who still hasn’t got through the book (War and Peace was twice as long) and faults Michael Greger with excessive distance. The whole point of real research is to find the best studies and change the conclusion when new information becomes available. Being Vegan is not a religion; it’s a considered way of life and this kind of science is just now coming into its own and an exciting time for people in this field. So once again, many tx indeed.

  • Thanks for the update Des! Got my book coming today ;D

  • THANK YOU for all the information you have shared! I have been looking for answers to the keto diet and started following you over the weekend. You have provided the best consistent, understandable information I have found online! I have a long journey to health ahead of me and I appreciate your channel and FB group! Thanks again and wish me luck!

  • his and your recommendations give me anxiety.. Mcdougall made veganism doable but you guys are making it seem impossible.. why is this? dont you think if all these supplements and rules were important that Mcdougall would have come across it in his years of having so many patients? Ill forever feel like im deficient now and will never feel comfortable recommending veganism to my mates, such bullshit man if only you guys didnt exist id still be feeling like a champ

  • Hi Des! Yes I’ll be getting this book. I’ve been excited to read it since I heard it was coming out. Thank you for the review. Take care and Have a Merry Christmas!

  • It’s good to see you back!
Is there enough other useful content to justify somebody who doesn’t need to lose weight buying this book?

  • and then crushed them all and take a container add some warm water 3cups and then add all these and then drinks every mornin and evening

  • Mom,I am taking 3 weeks keto deit with intermittent fasting. But I can’t see wight loss.i am taking some hormones tablet. Can u replay about this issue.pls replay.

  • I didn’t experience a horrendous level of keto flu feelings when I first started this way of eating almost two years ago it was mostly just significant fatigue in my legs when I would walk/exercise. But it didn’t last long.

  • Cold fresh pineapple chunks in a hot day has never tasted so good as when I screw up trying to stay to keto diet. I am really not a big meateater. Perhaps If I tried a strict vegandiet I would get tired of soy and I could mess it up by surpricingly drooling over some chicken, oh Messing up fasting is easy nowadays, I simply call it intermittent fasting when I am too tired to get out of bed or to stay awake. But gee, folks, Try resist cold pineapple on a strict ketodiet. I managed for two weeks and now I had two slices. Michelin here I come, I better burn it off with swimming or something.

  • if one sticks to 20 net carbs per day, how long should it take to get into Ketosis.? And what does that look like? Should the urine test strip register in the darker colors or does “trace and small” mean you are actually in ketosis but not far enough in to lose weight?

  • I have a fast way to lose its called roommate eats up all the food really the truth
    I was 132 I’m now 123
I exist on food bank, I don’t like
    I haven’t bought food
    for 2 years………..oh I do drink a lot a lot of water

  • how does keto affect folks that have had issues in the past from fats and heart stents from clogged atreies?? fat is always the culprit! will keto add to this or help clear the arteries??

  • I know you have to put that disclaimer in there. Isn’t it a shame that a lot of doctors don’t like this type of eating. Thanks to a lot of what I have learned thru you and others doing Keto I have to go in a different direction. It’s hard to find doctors that go along and don’t ridicule you for doing things holistic. I am encouraged thru all the fantastic info you impart to us. Keep them coming.

  • I really like your video! Good luck with growing your channel. Check out FollowSM[.]com! It could really help you grow your channel!!

  • I think you’re right. Also high fat cheeses. Low-fat is the best. I think you need to stay away from all those. I’m on a low fat protein veggies and fruits diet. I do have grains. It’s just the whole grain kind. And I’m losing weight! All because I cut out the junk food. I also like to walk once in a while.

  • Try telling the white bread to my step father. Who always insists on getting white sandwich rolls. When me and my mother always wants the whole wheat. Which is something he does not like. So we can never have whole wheat sandwich rolls. And when it comes to what food comes in to the house he is more in charge of that. Than my mother is. Which explains why there is always some sort of unhealthy foods in this house. Like either pretzels, potato chips, cheese curls, and soda. Where with me the only fruit mention that I like is watermelon. I have never really like peaches, tangerines, and apricots.

And as far as I know watermelon is not in season right now. Not where I live it isn’t. But the rest of the foods mention to stay away from I do that already. Well all except for the pizza. But we never go to the commercial pizza places like Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, and Dominoes. We just get it from one of our local pizza places. My step father often wants to order food for supper. Either from one of our local Chinese or Italian places. Because half the time he doesn’t like what my mother makes. Or doesn’t want her to cook anything. I just realized he is part of the reason of why I can’t seem to lose weight.

  • Five thousand references!? Wow! Some of those tips sound interesting, like positioning your bed. Never heard of that.

Nice to see you back! Happy Holidays!

  • Yesterday I baked bread stuffed with raisons and pistachio nuts all natural ingredients it’s been years back now since I boycotted the commercial bakeries altogether as I reckoned they’re not that much worthwhile.
