While intermittent fasting is not new, the trend is beginning to gather more attention. As part of a 2019 study, researchers followed 19 adults with metabolic syndrome whose meals were spread over a 14-hour window and found limiting meals to a 10-hour window (followed by 14 hours of fasting) was associated with weight loss, smaller waist circumference, lower blood pressure and LDL “bad” cholesterol. And that’s the key! To blast belly fat. Which brings us to our main goal of this post – to share with you an intermittent fasting morning workout that helps you to lose weight.

The Best Intermittent Fasting Morning Workout. The best choice for an intermittent fasting morning workout is to practice light yoga for 30 minutes to an hour. Intermittent fasting (IF) is currently one of the world’s most popular health and fitness trends. People are using it to lose weight, improve their health and simplify their lifestyles. If you want to see quicker results from intermittent fasting to lose belly fat, you should pick a window and fasting window that is off evening.

I like to finish all of my food early in the evening, say 5 to 6 pm. So I eat by 8am and stop eating by 4pm. I fast from 4pm to. Any diet will make you lose fat if it creates a caloric deficit. That part is easy.

The hard part is how to keep the fat off in the long run. Many people regain the fat they lost because they chose a diet they can’t stick to long-term. I’ve been doing intermittent fasting for fat loss which is surprisingly easy and I’m pleased with the results. Instead of eating many meals throughout the day, fasting and feasting gives you a compressed eating window (typically 16 hours of fasting with 8 hours of feasting). While skipping just the occasional meal can be beneficial, cycling periods of fasting (usually in the morning) and feasting (usually at night) can aid detoxification, encourage fat burning, and improve immune function. You choose a period of time during the day to eat (eating window) and a period of time to not eat (fasting window).

I chose the 16:8 plan, where you fast for 16 hours, and eat for eight — it made. But what you eat when you’re not fasting is key to whether you’ll lose weight. Cruise himself follows an intermittent fasting diet and says he’s never felt better. He fasts for 20 hours and eats one traditional meal a day during a four-hour window.

Basically, the 12:12 plan is a type of intermittent fasting where you eat for 12 hours of the day and fast for the other 12 hours. This method requires you to limit your daily calorie intake within a 12-hour window (meaning 12 hours eating, 12 hours fasting), rather than eating whenever you want throughout the day.

But fasting, especially short bursts of intermittent fasting, can be particularly effective for both losing fat and improving brain health and function without necessarily restricting calories (although fasting often naturally leads to a 20 percent to 30 percent daily caloric reduction).

  • My grandmother lived for 102 years. She practiced intermittent fasting majority of her life. She was on a full day fast every 14 days. Also each day she would eat only twice. Morning and evening. She was on fast on imp festivals like janmashtami and navratri etc. No tea or any beverages. Fruits in between meals. Vegetarian diet. The benefits are numerous. Whereas me and my dad fast one day a week. It’s beneficial as my dad suffers from high bp and avoiding salt the whole day helps. We do eat fruits in between as it helps to maintain energy.

  • I actually started doing intermittent fasting by accident. I got very sick and wasn’t eating much over a 2-3 week period around January the year before this hellish year, and I happened to read an article on Yoshinori Ohsum winning a Nobel Prize for her work on autophagy. At the time before I became sick, I weighed around 230 pounds at 5 feet 8 inches in height. I’m thirty-five, and off and on over the years I’ve tried to exercise more and eat healthier, but it hasn’t always been easy to fight cravings, especially being a consumer of cannabis for medical reasons. The lowest weight I achieved when I was about 145 one summer when about twenty-six. I had eaten almost nothing but watermelon for months, it was a purely watermelon diet, and I could eat a lot of it without worrying about having to burn off a lot of calories. That combined with intense exercise worked, and I lowered my weight to lowest it had been since I was a much smaller child. I couldn’t maintain it for more than four or five months though, as much as I love watermelon variety is the spice of life. After suffering an injury, I couldn’t exercise and ballooned back up, and I’d never even gotten rid of the belly no matter how hard I tried. I got despondent and sedentary again, just happened to take a job that was less physically taxing, ended up heavier than I had ever been before. Also felt less healthier than I’d ever felt before. Then I got sick and read that article. Decided I would keep it up, though I was only doing 12:12, which some intermittent fasters might not consider much of a fast. Even so, I saw immediate benefits, and in more than just weight loss. After doing it for eight months, I hadn’t achieved the weight loss I’d achieved on my watermelon diet, but I had lost a significant amount of weight without much exercise at all, I was down to my 180s, and I had never felt healthier in my life, even when I was at 145. I was eating a healthier, more balanced diet, and over time I learned better control of my cravings. Unfortunately, my father passed a away last August, and around that time I fell off the wagon. Ballooned back up to 220 as I stuffed my face with sweets in my depression. I got myself back under control though, and over the past few months I’ve worked my way back down to my 180s, and I just seriously started intermittent fasting again a few weeks ago. I am already feeling the benefits again. I feel like I can finally move to a 16:8 routine soon, that my body has adapted to this process. I don’t even consider it much of a diet, I still eat what I like a lot of the time, but only at certain times. I ate a whole bag of cookies over a period of two days last week and still lost weight! I try not to do that too much, that can’t be good for you, they were iced molasses cookies and they were delicious and once they’re in my cookie jar it is game over, but I can usually go a few weeks or even a month or two without buying a bag of cookies. Either way, it is nice to know that I don’t have to starve my willpower trying to never eat cookies if I just restrict the amount of hours in day in which any sweets might be eaten. I could pop down to the store for a donut or fudgeround right now, and I wouldn’t feel bad about it, but I feel that craving less and less, a craving I felt all the time when I was eating all of the time. I’m about to be back in my 170s for the first time in almost a decade, and I’m only moderately exercising, my job usually isn’t too physically demanding, and I know I can keep doing this now, that even if I fall off the horse I can get back on it, and that if I keep at it I will only feel healthier over time.

    I would suggest to people interested in trying intermittent fasting to start off easy, at 12:12, and if you’re eating a very unhealthy diet you should still try to eat better, but don’t waste willpower trying to avoid all of your cravings. Treat yourself occasionally, just try not to cheat on the restriction. It will get easier for you to say no to food during that time restriction… well, over time. Your body will adapt. Your ancestors were nomadic hunters and gatherers, and they starved for days regularly as they hunted prey or sought out new food resources. We don’t even have to starve, I have plenty of calories and nutrients to burn before we can call it that. Give it a try. I think people are going to find out that even over the long haul, as long as you eat the calories and nutrients your body requires during the period you allow yourself to eat, the benefits will far outweigh the risks, if there are many to speak of at all.

  • I would think we can make some educated guesses for long term effects by studying eating habits of prior generations. I know in my family the older generations would routinely not eat breakfast of in many cases even lunch and just have dinner. It seems to be common for people who worked the land. It seems like eating less and less often seems to optimize our body for longevity. I think our current studies and recommendations are a tad warped because we tend to study athletes and their performance and people base their eating habits on them.

  • I fast for spiritual reasons. Every day, I don’t eat until 3 pm and it’s a great and wonderful way to discipline yourself.   • I started adf in February 2020. I did 40:8. I lost 26 lbs in about 6 weeks and I ate whatever I wanted during my 8 hour window. Burgers, Krispy Kreme donuts, Anything I wanted. I eat rice,lentil pulses one on one day with roti and a small serving of yogurt once a day in one sitting at around 2 pm and hit the court at 5pm to 8 pm. Hit the bed at 11 wake up at 8 am.   • I use a modified version of 16:8. I fast for 16 hours have one big meal at the end and start fasting again for 16 hours, no need to wait out the rest of the 8 hour eating period as i dont eat any more meals. So basically have one meal every 16 hours… is that still considered intermittent fasting?

    Walk absolutely slowly and normally for 7 kilometers daily.
    Try eating only once in 24 hours
    And drinking water anytime as much in 24 hours.
    Sleep minimum 8 hours at night
    And 2 hours in afternoon between 2pm to 4pm

    Eat fibers, protein, carbohydrates, no problems some good fats allowed, good amount of or 4 slices of any or white or brown bread. Don’t avoid anything particularly. Prefer vegetarian diet with milk. Dont stress when others give you advise. Listen to what you can do after all it’s your body. See the way you start enjoying life fully happily and as soon you start this routine.. Yes avoid drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes completely. I enjoy every moment of my fully energetic life now for past one year.

  • I’m doing 36/12 fasting and the fat burning after the 24 hour mark is really insane. My ketone level triples between 24 and 36 hours. I’ve been overweight most of my life so my insulin resistance is quite high. I need to do longer fasts to force my body to burn fat. I hope that due to the autophagy my insulin sensitivity will improve over time. So far IF works out really well. I lose 0.2 kg/day without slowing my metabolism down. The downside of this approach is that the ketones get rid of the hunger feeling and I literally need to force myself to eat on feeding days.

  • Have lost 65 lbs since 1/9/17 exercising and doing a ketogenic diet. Still playing around with and trying to optimize my daily percentages of fat, protein, carbs though.   • When fasting your body does not loose muscle mass. its because you’re body will keep useful tissue like muscle as a last resort so it would first burn only fat.

  • I hate IF. It does not work for me as a long term solution. I get cranky and am constantly thinking about food. I can’t make it work with a family with two kids who are on a different eating schedule. I compensate when it’s finally ‘okay’ to eat.

  • Been doing fasting protocols for about 6 years now daily. Typically I’ll do 20/4 and do one extended fast of 44-48hrs every 3-4 weeks. I personally love training fasted and have hit strength PR’s regularly. I mean shit..one time I did 10×10 squats and hill sprints after at 40hrs fasted.   • Yeah, I too am guilty of jumping through weight loss plan to others as well, I do believe that I need to have tested every weight loss method that was available, but eventually not one of them made it easier for me to reduce and maintain the weight off.   • I was watching the 6 fasting things on the screen at the beginning and I realized that I was doing meal skipping without realizing it. So, there’s that. Usually, I end up skipping lunch because I get so caught up in doing things throughout the day and I don’t want to disturb the “workflow” (even though I’m not actually working…). Sometimes I skip breakfast because I drink coffee which tends to fill me up since I’m kind of a tiny person. I almost never skip dinner though.     Edit: You might ask how I was able to curb my hunger (I really eat a lot, like a food for 3 average persons isn’t enough for me). I’ve been doing “water therapy”. I think I can drink around 2 gallons of water per day, most drinks happen during the fasting period.

  • That formula for hitting a “calorie deficit” seems grossly off to me. I was at 170, but didn’t start losing weight until I dropped down to 1,550 calories a day and that was to lose 1lb a week. 2,200 would actually have caused me to gain fat instead. That might be accurate for someone who already has a very high muscle mass to low fat ratio, but that’s insane for an average, not ultra trained person.

  • I’m curious what you would suggest to full time working adults who can’t workout in the middle of the day? If I’m following your rough sketch of a timeline you suggest lifting before breaking the fast. If your fast starts at 8pm the 16 hours of fasting ends around noon. So that means lifting at 11:00 am roughly.
    This is impossible for me, and I’d imagine it’s similar for most working adults. My only lifting windows are before work (7am-8am works for me) or after work (more prone to something coming up and I’ll skip it, but 6pm-8pm can work.
    Thus, I guess what I’m getting at is that my preference would be to develop a routine where I lift in the morning, 3-4 times per week, followed by a fast until 2pm or as late as 5pm when I get home from work. What are your thoughts on this?

  • I eat breakfast and lunch, and a lil snacks in the afternoon. Skip the dinner, and sleep early. I dont do exercise. I eat a lot in the weekends. Lost 11 pounds in 2 months. Didn’t really have a goal, its just my habit. I get tired after work, i sleep instead of having dinner.

    10.30 am Workout… maybe sooner depending on workout routine
    12 m break the fasting with a shake or some protein
    12:30 pm to 8 pm get your first meal of the day and make windows of at least 2 hours between meals

    Personally I find it very dificult to work out in the middle of the day and rather go to the gym early in the morning, say 5:30 am. Which means I would have my shake at 7 and my first meal at 7:30, final meal before 3 pm and going to bed on an empty stomach. Does that somehow negatively impacts the body cycle you described?
