    What credentials do either of you hold in nutrition?
    Refined sugars are NOT bad for you nor CAUSE weight/fat gain Excess calories do
    Cutting Carbs does not cause fat loss, limiting Carbs cuts down the calories associated with them. You could easily do the same with fat and Protein
    Carbs should take up 40-60% of your diet. Obviously fruits and Vegetables but bars, candy, bread soft drinks etc all have a calorie to them and if you track said calories you can have them and still lose weight.
    The Glycemic index has no influence on fat loss/gain and actually isn’t a recommended way of determining foods because there is no set standard. Foods like Ice-Cream are low on the Glycemic Index but still contain high amounts of fat and if not measured out will increase Calorie consumption
    A steady Insulin level just helps with energy levels throughout the day. If you spike your blood sugar all that happens is the crash that happens at the end making you sleepy, NOT layering of FAT
    Small meals vs Big meals doesn’t do anything.
    No exercise BURNS fat. Not even Cardio.
    Cheat meals don’t reset your metabolism. We have very minimal control over our metabolism other than Eat, Drink, Exercise and Sleep. Your body does everything else
    A cheat meal helps you mentally knowing at the end of the week you get to have that stuff you’ve cut out/down on for sanity reasons and staying consistent.
    Working major muscles groups, working out longer, or more intensely will always burn more calories. I’m not saying you need to kill yourself with exercise but If those are the only exercises you are doing then of course you would have to cut out/limit WAY more foods cause you’re not burning that many calories with those moves.
    In the end, no food is BAD and to lose weight/fat you need to burn more calories than taking in. And no “DIET” out there will cause weight loss better than another.
    A healthy caloric deficit is 500-1000 Calories TOTAL at the end of the week which will equate to 1-2lbs of fat.
    Also eating food after a certain time period causes fat gain is a huge myth as well.
    Carbs 40-60% Total Cal
    Protein 20-30% Total Cal
    Fat 10-30% Total Cal
    Carbs = 7 Calories/Gram
    Protein = 7 Cal/Gram
    Fat = 9 Cal/Gram

    For anyone who really wants nutrition info go to a Registered Dietitian or Certified Nutritionist through an accredited institute.

  • I decided to fast for 5 days and review my situation every 24hrs (so total of 120 hours, only drinking about 2 liters of water a day. Have reached 48hrs and will now aim for 72hrs. I have not felt any positive effects yet I have to admit. Negative effects: 1) hunger obviously. I temper this by drinking water and keeping busy, but nothing too physically strenuous. 2) slight to moderate sweating. started after about a day. It’s not a huge problem and I tell myself this is the body excreting toxins. 3) slight physical weakness in legs & arms. I noticed this waking up after about 36hrs into the fast. After walking about a bit and doing some household chores, the weakness has decreased hugely. 4) Slight dizziness. Felt it after about 36hrs when i woke up. Again, small physical activity + keeping mentally busy and drinking water and it has gone down but certainly not disappeared.

    So that’s it so far. Can’t think of any other problems encountered. Even if i get to 72hrs with no food, i’ll be really pleased. Don’t try this if youre lacking in will power or have to do strenuous physical work every day. When it’s over i’ll cut out eating all the foods and drinks Dr.Khan recommends.

  • Intermittent fasting just works. I do it every day min 14 hour fast so no breakfast. 3-4 days a week I go for a longer 18-20 hour fast to really take advantage of ketosis and autophagy. Great video, great tips and they work when you actually DO them!

  • Okay, Doc Khan, I am going to do skip one meal per day and see what happens, but I have one question that I would love to know the answer to. I have been drinking much more water lately, and it makes me feel great. I fill a 24 ounce water container up in the morning with fresh well water. But to it I add the juice of one whole lemon ( squeezed fresh with my little juicer), I also add the juice of one whole Lime, and the juice of one whole orange. In addition I add 1/8th cup of frozen raspberries and 1/8th cup frozen blueberries ( they just float around in there and the raspberries tint the water red.. and I add some ice cubes. As the ice cubes melt I add more and eventually, when I have drunk all that water with added juices, I just fill the container with plane water the rest of the day. But sometimes, I will make the whole concoction again in the later afternoon or early evenings, just because I love it so much.
    Other-wise I do not drink other types of drinks, no sodas, no store bought fruit drinks. I also do not eat packaged foods, or breads, pastas, just as you describe above and I have lost 25 pounds doing this. I rarely eat fruit, just because of the high carbs. I might have some berries sometimes, an apple on occasion, or some cantaloupe, but mostly I eat meat and vegetables. But what I don’t know is if my water concoction is okay? What do you think about it?
