  • The outcome is no more killing animals. I think the reason this would be near impossible is because it would require changing the mindset of all humans across the globe. Add to that the fact that nowadays people want instant results. It is very hard to convince someone to sacrifice something is they cannot be convinced that change will come to fruition. Some people are more patient and optimistic but many are not. I think so many people are just existing on habits and routine in all aspects of their lives. The complexity of human emotions and their associations with morals and virtue will conflict with the reality we live in. Some people purposely self reflect and are quite critical of themselves as they try to find meaning in life as well as learn to be a more loving person. This is my worldview and I can understand both sides whether you believe in eating animals or eating plants. I think there is much more to do on an individual and group level to learn and heal emotionally and physically. In my opinion we have a lot of things to work through before we can even change the world to vegan.

  • One thing i can agree is Garlic which is very healthy otherwise can increase basal body temperature and cause so much inner heat that the body cannot cool down to sleep properly. When one feels warm and hot from within, its very hard to fall asleep or stay asleep. I don’t really agree on honey its too high in fructose ( 70%), maybe cultured honey is better.

  • Eat whatever you want but not too much. Too much of everything is not good. Too much healthy food makes food boring and you feel empty, too much unhealthy food leads to overweight and other many problems. Just balance it all. Maybe two times unhealthy food in a week while the rest keep it healthy. Or even better, if you like unhealthy food, just keep your portion small if you’re gonna have it more than two times a week, but you need to work out to keep your body still and not get fat.

  • I love this but I have a few concerns.. some people have food sensitivities. These things usually develop in the womb or as a young child him abuse, neglect etc. Some people have hormonal imbalances for the same reason or from coming off birth control or other health issues. What about them? I have IBS so things like onion and garlic make me bloat to uncomfortable levels. I take an herbal supplement everyday for PMS symptoms because I just quit talking birth control last month and needed the help. I would like to know more about the thoughts on these issues.

  • Hi @alpha m. Maybe you’ve seem some more recent studies, but I thought the myth that Soy and soy based products can affect your T-levels was mostly debunked years ago… as indicated in multiple clinical studies like the following:

    From what I can see, all of the studies that have shown a correlation between soy/isoflavones and T-levels have been rather weak, and consisted of very narrow and small sample sizes.

    Even if there is some correlation, it’s not as simple as “eat soy, you’ll have less T”.

    Sorry, guys, I love you, but that is very pat. Not all situations are neither good or bad. True, some things, more superficial things, having to move when you weren’t planning on it is inconvenient, no fun, a pain in the neck, hard work, a hassle…….but let’s face it, it isn’t the end of the world and especially for the two of you. You have each other, you’re in this, as with all things, together. Your burdens are halved because they are shared. You are minimilists, with few possessions, so not a lot to pack even.   • Wow garlic is a stimulant? In my experience cooked garlic at least will make you sleepy if you eat enough of it. Other herbalists I have read about actually recommend it as a calming agent. It will also reduce blood pressure. Raw garlic is a germ killer for sure, anti-fungal and I would suspect anti-viral too but I would not claim expertise on that one.You can however make a fine anti-fungal preventive spray for your shower stall with vinegar and garlic. Spray that stuff and NO mildew.
    Also the old Yin/Yang model from China teaches you can balance garlic with ginger and cook a lot of both together.

You speak as if the entire world is against you, as if the entire world is against animals, as if you understand something nobody else understands. There is no “one truth”. There is a circle of life. This circle has and will change, that’s evolution. And human beings are a part of that circle. Sometimes you talk about humans as if we are just some peasants that landed on this planet 50 years ago and destroyed everything but that’s not the case. We have developed over many many many years, just like all other animal species. We are a part of that circle and will be for as long as we are around, just like everything else on this planet. Something has to die in order for something else to live. That doesn’t mean we have to consume animal products, it just means that in order to survive we have to use the nature around us in one way or another, just like all other species do the food chain is real and always will be. I wish you would focus more on arguments rooted in reality and research, like health for instance, and not your personal opinions and feelings towards animals.

    Don’t get carried away. By all means explore and consider ideas, try new things, but don’t just dump your OWN wisdom and personal findings just because of some dude who ‘looks’ the part, and ‘sounds’ the part, and has ‘inspirational’, ‘clever/simple’ piano music glibly looping over and over in part of the overall deliberate attempt at winning your approval by emotional marketing.
    USE your own wisdom too. YOU have it too. No matter who you are, what race or creed you hail from, we ALL have this wisdom. I would follow the ‘general’ recommendation by these guys to be still and to listen to what YOUR OWN SOUL has to tell you, but don’t just ditch your brain either. You were given it for a reason, and it serves you better to a degree, than the likes of this guy will give you credit for.
    In short, don’t be a blind fool for anyone. Listen to your own soul, and have brain and soul consult and agree.

In the full episode we acknowledge that we’re speaking from a place of privilege, and we’re simply using our everyday, mundane situations (like needing to find a new apartment to rent) to explore deep issues/ideas and ask questions. This is simply a sample to get people curious about listening to the full episode. The concepts we’re discussing have certainly been an incredibly helpful tool for us many times over the years when we’ve been through very tough times. We’re certainly not pretending terrible things don’t happen, and yet just because something doesn’t apply to all situations doesn’t mean we should dismiss it entirely. Our podcast is about more than just veganism, we like to branch out and talk about other topics.

That parable reminds me of the line in the song ‘everybody’s free to wear sunscreen’ by Baz Luhrmann where the lady who wrote the original lyrics/ poem says “Whatever you do, don’t congratulate yourself too much, or berate yourself either.   • Its interesting that Jesus said the same thing.
    All things come to pass so to worry and fret about things out of our control will just make us unhappy.  We should concentrate on what can change and keep on doing good.  One of the reasons I say this is because a vegetarian friend many years ago while I was still meat eating and not understanding the vegetarian message left something with me a thought provoking idea that meat-eating is not normal.  Many years has passed and I made the connection and are no for 7 years a full vegan.
    We must stop worrying about what others think of us and keep on doing good … eventually others will follow us. Just like I did after many years followed my vegetarian friend.
    Another thing.  Saddest thing is that Buddhist countries are the cruellest countries in the world against animals.  Vietnam, Thailand, Korea, Indonesia, Philippines etc.
    European countries at least have started seeing pets as non edible animals but in almost ALL Buddhist countries they eat ALL animals whether birds, fish, farm animals, domestic companion animals.  There is NO differentiation.  Animals are seen as commodities to be exploited.

  • Since I eat meat I feel the focus and energy again. It’s evening and I’m still able to think clearly. Vegetarian is great is very demanding as I can say from my experience. It’s a diet that requires a lot of precision that is eating rarely 2-3 times a day and resting a lot. The fuel for focus for vegetarians with long intership is rest/ sleep wchih is in many cases not enough you know 5 9 stuff a loy of duties after work etc. It’s great not to eat meat tor a week body gets lightened, mind weakens. But for those living in concret jungle it won’t work for longer. I’ve approachet vegetarianism 4 timestevery time implementing more protein, and finally i’ve quit. Vegetarianism is good for Sadhguru or people like Rastarafis living in woods slef employed working whenever they want, resting whenever they want. Vegatarianism reguires a lot of freedom. OK. NOT TRUE. ONLY MY EXPERIENCE.

There’s always a choice, so when it comes to chosing what I eat I try to make the right choice. I know it’s important what I run my body on, so when the time comes I think about my options and how I’d feel after finishing that meal. This way I take it seriously but don’t worry about my future choices entire day.

  • Actually in case of milk it is not true. Source: I myself eat lots of diary food everyday (above 600g) and I feel great. It is packed in lots of nutrients and has lots of protein and is tasty. Of course everyone has different body so for someone else results may vary in case of amount of diary you can eat or if you even can digest it.

    My dad is in hospital at the moment, he has brain lesions and a underperforming liver, all whilst being sedated due to uncontrollable seizures. Equanimity is a really important stance for me to have, that there are two sides to the situation, that I have to stay level headed.
