Flexible Dieting: The Overhyped Battle Between Clean vs. Dirty Foods Food it is needed for survival, happiness and in our case, results. For the longest time there has been an argument regarding food choices and the effects they will have on our appearance.
Clean food is defined as unprocessed and unrefined food such as whole grains, healthy fats from avocado. Dirty food will be the opposite such as food containing sugar, processed food and most fast food served in fast food restaurants. Junk food is mostly potato chips and candies.
Clean vs Dirty. Over the years you have probably seen the charts showing the statistics for how hard you would have to work to “burn off” the calories of all different kinds of candy or chocolates that you might consume. For instance, you consume a miniature Twix bar and therefore, have to. As a basic guide, clean foods are “real foods” and close to nature, whereas dirty foods are processed, packaged and contain a number of ingredients.
Setting Aside Beliefs Whether this conforms with your beliefs or not is neither here nor there. Clean foods and “dirty” foods will most certainly have a different impact on body comp. Let’s talk about a caloric surplus, the subject you know nothing about apparently. Prove to me that you will gain fat “differently” with a food deemed “unhealthy” vs. a food deemed “healthy” if both puts the user in the same caloric surplus.
In short, this dichotomy of universally“clean” and “dirty” foods is subjective, rather baseless, and only serves to distort how people view food. Let’s think about this pragmatically, what makes, for example, a piece of grilled boneless, skinless, hormone-free, organic, free-range (alright, enough with the adjectives already) chicken. Dirty food: More calorie dense, easier to overeat, fewer vitamins and minerals.
Clean foods: Cal density varies extreemly, but most are full of nutrients that your body needs to function proporly. If I’m going to eat soething, I want it to actually have some benefit. Of course, sometimes taste is one of those benefits. It doesn’t matter if you eat 100% clean foods 100% of the time, or eat those same clean foods maybe 90% of the time and various supposed dirty foods the other 10% of the time.

I do this I eat clean Monday to Friday but Saturday night I go out with mates and eat burger and fries then back to healthy eating on Sunday ( so 1 huge cheat meal a week)

Because junk food is so calorie packed, you’ll have to eat less of it too. Someone who eats X amount of calories in clean food will eat more actually food than someone who eats X amount of calories in junk food. Because of that, you’ll probably end up feeling hungrier if you only eat junk food.

I would say it depends from your starting point, some doctors proclaims that high levels of fat consumption raises the chances from getting diabetes type 2 or pre-diabetes (insulin resistance, which causes fat retention in some places like the love handles)

Every lifter or gymrat went through tough times carrying tupperware with plain rice and chicken eating 6 times a day, no carbs after 6pm, having a big solid meal an hour before the workout and swallowing a 2 scoups of proteinpowder 26 second after their bro split workout. I did all that stuff too! If I think back about it, it’s so funny!! However, even these days about 80% of the people I know eat 6-8 times a day, drinking BCAA’s during their workout and eat no carbs after 6PM! LMAO
That’s right! It’s all about balance, bruh. What’s life without the occasional beer and cheeseburger after days of brown rice and roast chicken breast.
I prefer to be dirty because I actually can’t sleep when my floor is clear because I’m worried that something is going to be on the floor when I’m in bed

I have 3 questions:
1.) How do we choose our starting weights when we totally just begin with your training plan?
2.) Can you recommend alternatives, when we can’t do a specific exercise with proper form?
For example: Deadlifts: my mobility / flexibility sucks big time, so at the moment my back is not perfectly straight when I go down even for just the barbell with wimpy 10kg plates on each side.
I also can’t touch the floor with my fingers, I’m coming just 10cm lower then my knees with straight legs.
Obviously, I have to work on my mobility, but how would I substitute the deadlifts in the mean time?
I mean, probably when we have to substitute proper it would mean not an excange 1:1 but more like three exercises for one compound and the whole training session will become longer.
But it’s better than nothing, isn’t it?
3.) How can we progress on pull-ups efficently?
Right now, I can’t bust out 3 x 5 even without weights. For 3 x 5 I have to use the pull-up machine with some counter-weight. Should I just continue training and try to reduce the counter weight each session?
