  • If you eat a lettuce salad, you’ll be hungry in no time, regardless of the fiber. You need protein. Protein is why nuts help you to feel fuller than you might expect. Processed foods are the culprit.

I thought I was doing pretty good when I took a hot bath and came out sweaty, because I thought I’d be burning calories, but I guess not, LOL. Anyway, I also had a question that I thought you could tackle at some point. Should you eat fewer than 1,200 calories per day? I’ve read many conflicting articles about this topic. Most say that if you do eat fewer than 1200 calories, your body goes into “starvation mode” and it could be more damaging. The reason I ask is that the food/activity tracker I use has placed me at 1189 calories for each day and I was worried that I would stop losing weight as consistently as I have been.   • No oil is healthy. Its added fat you don’t need. Put spices on your food if you want flavor. I put nothing but broth in my potatoes. I have health problems so I need extra salt and sugar because my body doesn’t work properly. I also have celiac disease so I have to replace gluten with other ingredients. Gluten is good for you. It’s not good if you are allergic to it because you need gluten to stay healthy. I also am allergic to peanuts. My stomach is the size of a one year old do to a birth defect, I have digestive issues because I don’t have an adult stomach. I get full fast and I get heartburn if I eat anything that causes celestial, it causes me diarrhea. I can’t even eat beef and pork. I am allergic to red meat. It causes me full body rashes and I have to go to the hospital. I have a very healthy heart though so I am doing well with my diet. My doctor says I am good at controlling my symptoms with my diet.

  • Yeah, I too am guilty of jumping from weight loss plan to others as well, I do believe that I must have tested every fat loss program that was available, however eventually not one of them made it easier for me to lose and maintain the weight off.   • Ummmm what? So this is basically touting a low fat starch filled diet from the 80’s just minus any animal protein whatsoever…that ultimately CAUSED obesity and long term nutrient deficiencies even WITH the low fat animal protein!

  • I started following a WFPB no oil about two years ago due to having researched nutrition as I had some chronic illnesses and was referred to cardiologist. My cholesterol was thru the roof plus other bloods out of normal ranges and I had for years been a runner and thought I’d been eating healthy. After only six months of wfpb my cholesterol, and other bloods normalised. I feel so much better, I have always been a decent cook but now I make so many more dishes using options and mixing foods I’d never have thought would go before! I feel great, people have commented many times on my skin and ask what creams I use. I don’t feel anything from my arthritis or my other chronic illnesses.

    So yes if you want to continue eating meat, dairy, oil fine but look up what it does to your body and perhaps cut it down if you can’t or don’t wish to cut it out completely, you will notice a difference in your health.

  • I disagree with this line of thinking. New studies have shown that low fat is not a healthy road to travel and nutrient dense food is more important than low calorie. Lettuce is NOT nutrient dense. Healthy fats are not bad for you either. Everyone is different in what works for them. When you eat nutrient dense food, you don’t have to eat as much.

  • This doesn’t mean you should go do an intense workout when it’s cold outside to loose more weight because cold air can be harmful to your respiratory system when working out, as you breathe more and take deeper breaths. So be careful!

  • I actually started my last workout with dry lips and when I was done working out I had gained 1,2kgs, just by getting hydrated throughout working out. I worked out for two hours though, first strenght, then cardio, then a little strenght again. interestingly I found the cardio (boxing bag) got me energized enough to pump some extra volume on some exercises although ive previously had completely exhausted my arms, which had felt like made of wood really, stiff af.

  • While that may be 500 calories of yams, it’s also 2 days’ worth of carbs! He doesn’t say that a serving of pasta is tiny-about 1/8th what you get at a restaurant. (And that assumes no garlic bread with the meal.)

    Filling up on pasta puts your carbs through the roof, and the body thinks typical pasta is white sugar. This brings on diabetes, especially if it doesn’t include meat, or at least fat.

    Studies show we should never eat carbs alone. Always include protein or fat, or the pancreas and liver have to work hard to keep blood sugar stable.

  • This completely ignores the importance of protein, balancing blood sugar, and that fats are necessary in small amounts. Many of the nutrients in salad will not be absorbed without including some fat.

    Studies show that 1 lb of produce per day is beneficial (that’s like 2 cups greens + 2 cups other vegetables (including starchy ones) + 1 medium fruit or 6 ozs. juice + 1 cup berries or melon). More than that is too much fiber and sugar to effectively absorb the nutrients, avoid gas, allow sufficient calories for necessary protein and fat, etc.
