  • Great video Abby. It has so much helpful information, especially about weight, that is usually not shared. I am so frustrated because every doctor that I go to, keeps telling me to lose weight.   • So let me make sure I understand on a basic level… I have insulin resistance and I am on metformin. I actually do want to lose wait for the sake of visceral fat. Diabetes runs in my family. If I eat enough and intuitively, take my supplements and medications and work out. I can possibly lose weight or at least manage my symptoms properly?!?!   • I am a mess after watching this video. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 17 (I’m 25 now) and I’ve visited more than 10 different doctors in an attempt to manage it. Every single doctor refused to do anything until I lost weight, and since my first visit to the doctor, I’ve gained so much weight. I haven’t been to a doctor regarding my PCOS for about three years now, and while I know that is bad, I also don’t know what to do.

    Hearing Julie say that PCOS cravings are primal made me feel so seen.   • Thanks for making this video. When I was diagnosed with PCOS, when trying to conceive, my fertility doctor would tell me to lose weight. Yes duh of course I knew this. My fertility doctor would weigh me and take my bmi every time I went in for a check up and I felt so shamed if I didn’t lose any weight or didn’t meet the goals they wanted. For a year she did this and refused to help treat my infertility until I lost a certain amount of weight (I was definitely overweight but not unhealthy). I was doing everything I could but it just never seemed enough for them. I felt like crying every time I was in her office as she just didn’t seem to understand. I was so frustrated at them for wasting a year of my time that I just left and felt like giving up. My GP did put me on metformin, which I do believe helped in some way. Also the stress of not needing to keep up this unattainable weight loss regime. 6 months later I got pregnant on my own.

  • I started the ketogenic diet 1.5 years ago, which means no wheat or any other grains. I have no more back or knee pain (after years of chronic pain, and thousands of $ spent on chiropractic care). I sleep MUCH better. I lost 15 pounds of belly fat, effortlessly.   • I cant fault her lack of knowledge of true health and fitness…she is trained and taught incorrectly and she is maybe 30. Salt and sugar are absolutely essential…actually more the better for your health and weight loss…Salt should easily be about 5 mg. sugar easily 5 to 6 tablespoons a day and water maybe a glass a day…and your health will get noticeably better! and weight loss never a problem

  • Omg I used to think eating under 1,000 calories was healthy �� no wonder my weight kept fluctuating. I went from 117-145-125-140-160-177 pounds all in about 2 years. Now I’m eating regularly and I’m prioritizing nutrition and allowing my intuition to guide me. I don’t make myself feel guilty if I have some chocolate or snacks. I will say that my cravings for certain foods has gone down and my cravings for fruits and vegetables have gone up. I don’t drink soda anymore. Which I used to drink soda 3-4 times a day for such a long time but now I don’t even crave it.

I googled how much I should eat in a day to lose weight and one showed about 1000 calories a day. I chose this because I wanted to lose fast.   • Really good dietician. She will do well. I do yoga videos online, my pilates ring, weights at home, and walking. You can get yoga mats for under $5 at our local Five Below in so many bright colors:) You really don’t have to spend a lot of money for exercise:)

  • i cant go to a doctor where i live because i know more about pcos than my doctor which is rediculous.
    They need to do a test study on sulphur 30c because after taking it for 2 month my periods came back then after 6-7 months i got pregnant and i put it down to the sulphur because that was the only thing i took so it must of help some how but i was only taking it my acne and thought id have to have ivf again.
    Not sure if it would work for everyone so a study really needs done.

  • Would you react to Pippin Jardine? She’s a 17 year old vegan youtuber who’s been vegan since 13. She started out mainly doing WIEIAD videos, she doesn’t as much now but still includes what she eats and published a cookbook as an ebook a while ago.

    My other suggestion is slightly different, but could you review Alivia D’Andrea’s glow up diaries series? Season 1 is almost over and they’ve received some mixed messages about promoting toxic diet culture and being really repetitive vs being an accurate representation of what “glowing up” looks like. She originally started them as her weight loss journey but then decided that being healthy is about more than just weight loss (yay!) and renamed them, but a lot of the focus is still on food and losing weight, along with why she exercised, etc. I think if she had watched your videos, it would have saved her a lot of pain.

  • Hi Abbey! I was just diagnosed with PCOS, and I was wondering if my intense cravings for lemons and limes could be tied to that? Like, I could chomp into a lemon like a freaking apple and it freaks my husband out lol

  • I’m watching this again. I was really resisting the idea of allowing myself a variety of foods, so I thought the decision to skip gluten and dairy was very smart. I’m afraid that by avoiding dairy and gluten, I’ve lost the enzymes to digest them. Now whenever I eat these I get super bloated. I understand that it will take at least a year until my digestion recovers. I’ll try a probiotic and try to include fermented foods in my diet.

    I feel so relieved that I found intuitive eating. I was obsessed with chips and chocolate and french fries and cheese before. Now I allow myself to eat them whenever I feel like it in whatever quantity I feel like it. Surprisingly, they lost their power on me. I haven’t had chips for 3 months now I tthink, because I simply didn’t crave them anymore.

    I am cycling different types of low GI carbs, like black or brown rice, oats, full grain bread, but I also include potatoes, paired with protein and fat. I eat fatty fish twice a week, and I even included vegetarian days when I indulge in lentil soup, beans, hummus or peas.

    I love the one pot recipes, and going to the market and picking whatever is in season, then cooking it. I just look at my macros a little bit, to have every dish balanced. But that’s it. I eat to satiety, then stop. I even lost a couple of kgs. When my body is going to be ready to let go of the rest of excess kg, it will naturally. I’m just going to focus on giving it nutritious food, a variety of foods and reduced stress around food.

  • This is a great video! Just wanted to point out that while I’m sure the studies on PCOS have mostly included cis-women, women aren’t the only people to struggle with PCOS. Transgender and nonbinary people exist, and can also have PCOS.

  • No one should have the feeling of being ashamed when they’ve skipped out on eating healthy, or eating too much past the calories you were trying to get to, or seeing how different your stomach looks after eating. Your stomach will look different each time you drink, poop, pee, or eat. That’s normal! There’s a difference between reaching out to a doctor when trying to loose weight vs going on a calorie deficit diet or not eating at all. It’s not good. Weight loss or trying to feel stronger or improve because you feel tired ect. Should be done in a safe way. Not in a way where it should be normalized to eat less than recommended or not at all. Please reach out to a dietician if you want to start your journey don’t do it the wrong way. Please be patient it takes times. You’re beautiful the way you are ��

  • I actually found that extended water fasting cured me, all the cysts were gone, my period was FINALLY normal! However, because I didn’t change my diet it came back. I’m a strong believer that sugar and gluten are huge factors. Extended Water fasting has even healed some people from tumors and certain forms of cancer. It’s so sad that there is so much corruption in the medical and food industry. PCOS can be cured. There are people that have by lifestyle changes. It’s a tough road but it’s not impossible.   • Wheat free and sugar free for 15 days. My face has lost that inflated look of a ballon. Finally I’m able to see my face slimming down.

  • Anecdotes don’t make science or medicine!!! I had shoulder pain same as anybody else and it went away without medicine only with time!! I cut out nothing in my diet, lost no wt and even gained some wt, and I never whined and never read others’ stories!!! Just plain old resting the inflamed joint and allowing it to heal naturally.

  • Yeah, 750, even 1000 is Not. Enough. I’m a teenager, and I almost got pulled into it recently. When I was calorie counting, I was having about 1600 without restricting. Aaaaaand then I realized that it was getting obsessive, so I started focusing on gaining strength rather than losing weight. So now I’m keeping a calorie-free food and exercise log, which seems to be the thing that worked for me. I count myself VERY lucky that I didn’t end up like this.

  • I have just been diagnosed with PCOS. My periods are fine and standard however, my acne has gone crazy with cystic acne on my chin, feeling so insecure as I’ve had beautiful flawless skin. Now it’s full off acne blemishes.

  • I have PCOS on my right side and I have realised the more sugar I eat especially lately and lots of carbs with little or no exercise I gain water weight very quick and gain weight around my lower tummy and sides. I am not overweight but I feel uncomfortable and worsens my symptoms. Regular exercise good steady diet and plenty of water works but its hard to be consistence. Its about having a balance and try not binge eat too often throughout the week. Sweat potatoes seems to help with steadying my sugar levels and pre preparing meals si I try not to binge eat.

I can’t eat more than 800-900 calories or I gain weight. 800-900 is my maintenance intake.   • The information in those “What I eat in a Day / Weight loss” videos used to drive my relationship with food. I even took a nutrition class in college! Convinced myself that the medical community was wrong about food. I went through a mental healthy journey and now choose to follow registered dietitians. This has completely changed my relationship with food, especially my restrict/binge eating combo. You mean that I can eat bread?! I’m still learning but I am just so appreciative that dietitians are taking the time to make videos and put themselves out there.

Get a popular fat burn diet plan called Custokebon Secrets (search on google). Thanks to it I’ve lost lots of weight.   • It hurts to see how misguided and misguiding these are. I learned my lesson on myfitnesspal forums. I mean seriously, you ask for advice and that and one of the first things you will be hit with is the minimum kcals and metabolism. The site itself will block you from publicly posting your food for the day if it’s under 1000 and gives a warning. People complaining in the forum about this get that lecture again.
    When I seriously started to lose weight, before I joined the site, I was having 700-800 kcals a day for a few weeks. Sure I lost weight fast, but coming to the realisation that I could be f*ing up my metabolism made me increase it. I stuck to 12001300 net. The loss slowed from 2lbs a week to 1lb a week, but then I didn’t have that issue of ‘when I start to eat to maintenance I’ll gain it all back’. That maintenance number goes down with the metabolism.
    I’d say It’s generally a good site for mental health with weight loss. Yes, you can get a little caught up in calorie counting but that’s a common issue I think is hard to get away from with weight loss. Once maintaining you should have an idea of how much you need and only eating till satisfied. If you gain that week, just eat a bit less the next week. If you lose, eat a bit more. People are very supportive and helpful there.

  • for y’all idiots trying to lose weight, find your TDEE (use a kinda inaccurate calculator or experiment with your diet and weight till you find your TDEE) and subtract 300-500. you’ll lose 0.5-1lb per week HEATHILY and every 4 weeks take a diet break (eat maintenance calories for 1-2 weeks) so your metabolism will restore. if you eat too little calories you’ll die early and ur an idiot

  • I’ve been eating normally (I dont count calories, I eat healthy meals and have my junk food every now and then) in the past 10 years and have maintained my weight the entire time (<120 lbs). I NEVER worked out a day in my life then and was still able to keep the weight at bay. But when I did start to incorporate exercise (no more than 20 minutes everyday) that's when I got down and shed pounds without worrying about restriction and consumption. My body changed to be more lean and I felt more energized (I wasn't so tired and things like sleeping had become less irregular). The first few weeks after incorporating exercise I got down 5 lbs!

    I hope teens dont get discouraged to exercise like I did in the past:) It may seem like torture but this sort of dieting is worse in the long run:)) Things become habits when you do them daily, and they become less of a “task” when you do them no more than 20 minutes, so give exercise a try and find one that you enjoy more than others!

  • I wonder if these people that say we spray glyphosate all over the wheat realized what they are saying. I live right smack in the middle of kansas and farm wheat. Wheat is all around my house and have grown it since i could drive a tractor.. But ive NEVER seen anyone spray glyphosate on their wheat. Glyphosate kills EVERYTHING except genetically modified beans corn and a few other crops. So whyyyyy in the hell would you spray glyphosate on your crop!? Do they realize it would KILL the wheat!?   • Wonderful presentation, only note that Dr. Davis did this presentation in 2012. It is now established by many medical journals and doctors that gluten (a sticky protein) can bypass your gut and and present you with leaky gut that causes havoc. Yes, do enjoy your garden. Watch out for nightshades though. Peel and deseed your tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, squashes and avoid potatoes. You can pressure pot your tomatoes to use in salsas. I peel my tomatoes by boiling water and adding raw tomatoes for about 30 seconds then adding to a wonderful dark green salad. Soak beans and other legumes. Change water about three times then pressure pot them. Most lectins are destroyed this way. If interested check out Dr. Gundry’s books.

  • Dr Essystyn was a cardiac surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic and he began treating his patients with a high carb low fat diet and it was successful…..more so than by pass surgery. The Cleveland Clinic is the number 1 heart clinic in the world and they use a high carb diet…..not a bad recommendation.

  • Sometimes I oversleep so I miss out on breakfast and go straight to making lunch, when I do eat breakfast it’s usually cornflakes or porridge with apple and syrup all stirred up. Lunchmake something using either potatoes (steamed, baked or roasted -never boiled ) or rice. Occasionally I’ll make a wrap and usually try to squeeze in as many vegetables as I can from salad to cooking vegetables alongside my main meal. Not against meat but I don’t make it a main part of my diet. I’ll eat meat maybe 5times in a week. I take sugary treats depending on how much I’ve had already e.g. a small serving of ice cream or custard. Possibly some fruit jelly. I’ll happily eat carrot sticks or oranges as snacks. I also like ham and tomato sandwiches so I eat them to avoid getting peckish late at night. I don’t drink fizzy drinks often but don’t refuse fruit juice.

I had an eating disorder and I was losing weight in such an unhealthy way, and I kinda knew what I was doing was wrong but every time someone saw me (even my family) they would be like omg you look amazing keep it up, and that would just feed my disease

  • am a follower and am quite certain that you have some wonderful answers to a whole slew of significant medical problems. Thank you for your information. At 76, I lost 20 pounds in 2 months and am aiming for lots more. But I was wondering if your plan could have a impact on periodontal disease which is causing me to have 6 mm pockets in some of my rear teeth. I had surgery on them 25 years ago, and don’t look forward too a replay.

    I realize that lowering sugars must help, but is there any other thing in your plan that might me. Thanks a lot.

And I’m wondering if my mom had it as well, because a lot of her stories and or symptoms that she shows now, point to her possibly having PCOS and never knowing about it

FYI, for anyone concerned with the inflammatory effect of grain products you may be interested to know that our immunizations have two forms of aluminum and mercury in the form of thimerosal as adjuvants. Each of these substances are neurotoxins. Pharmaceutical companies stirred these substancesq into the broth to cause an inflammatory response at the time of immunization. The purpose of creating an inflammatory response is their belief that it provides a greater immunity from the viral fragments in the immunization. The amount of virus present in each immunization can differ a great deal. The basis or result of auto immune disorders is inflammation. My daughter had respiratory distress after her first flu shot then spent the day in the emergency department receiving IV steroids, Benadryl, IV epinephrine and inhalation therapy. She now has asthma. She also has MTHFR gene defect & cannot metabolize folate and other B vitamins. Synthetic B vitamins are in every enriched grain product.

  • Sometimes just removing gluten is not a cure all as a leaky gut and low vitamin levels is a huge possibility as we are all deficient in magnesium, selenium, iodine. Vit D in the UK is another one! Many may feel not all symptoms go away and fatigue, allergies like hayfever and arthritis pain is due to a leaky gut so L -Glutamine for 2 months will heal a leaky gut and bone broth too!   • I’m 58 kg and my height is 5’9″.. typically I don’t have any more weight to loose.. else I’ll be underweight.. and yes I am actually fit. So yeah I guess don’t stress about it.. just take your recommended medications with little supplements and move your body in a way you like and start making new dishes to explore more of your FAVs.
    At last I just want to say that I heard about going gluten and dairy free but these both are low GI foods just limit their consumption bcoz dairy is a very important daily need. Else you know what your body is saying to you so respect and love it.. coz YOU CAN❤️��

  • I notice right off that this man has a double chin and a sweaty pale complexion. I’m trying to keep an open mind but I can not find a talk he gives where he has anyone to debate his claims. All the claims within the comments of better digestion, BP, cholesterol, blood sugar and weight loss I have obtained eating plant based with huge amounts of wheat and grains of all kinds including white bread, white rice and pasta. The Doctors promoting plant based eating do not agree on every detail but they show up in forums and site study and evidence. Doctor Mcdoogle, Joel Fuhrman, and many others are lean and fit. I would like to see this guy sell his theory with his shirt off. LOL

  • Right around the 5 minute mark he mentions EINKORN, an ancient wheat. Coincidentally, I recently came across a company named Jovial Foods that has reintroduced that wheat in their products. I am not interested in trying it since I have been on a Keto diet and OMAD for a few years.

    I may try a carnivore diet soon and see how I feel on that. We have gotten so far away from our ancestral diets that it’s no wonder so many are fat and sick. BTW, this doctor doesn’t look all that healthy to me. But just my opinion. Interesting presentation nonetheless.

  • Hi! I’m a vegan teen, I like to eat healthy (and eat some treats from time to time) and workout. Some time ago I got curious about the calories I consume because I took a wild guess and said that maybe my breakfast was 400 calories but with my activities I burn that in no time. So, I decided to count calories with an app for 2-3 days to see what was up. I wasn’t feeling bad or anything I did this bc of curiosity.
    Well, turns out I was eating like just a little bit above 1000 calories and burning like 600 with my workouts.
    Yeah, on those days I was eating pretty clean and all that but… there you have that at least I, don’t need to eat that much.

  • I don’t wanna hide, but I am on water fasting for 7-10 days, because I am 60 kg and i am 17 years old, my high is 160 cm. I have been dealing with depression, emotions, bullying and all of that for more than 4 years now. I can’t focus on my life. That’s why I decided to do that. But trust me, I have researched a lot of how to break fast and what to eat for a healthy living. I’m gonna be eating 5 meals a day, but not big meals as I use to and eat healthy like beans, vegetables, soups and fruit. In total I’ll get 2000 calories per day, which every females need. Im gonna snack once a week if I want to and exercise 20 mins every day. I know the water fasting is not healthy at all, and i am on day 3. The first day was fine and normal, day 2 was hard and noe at day 3, I feel normal and have enough energy as I’ve eaten or so. Please guys do not try this at home, but I dont have more choices to lose weight or so. I hope yall doing better than me and have a good life. I’m dealing with much other stuff than weight loss stuff.

  • You don’t understand how lost I am. I just got the diagnosis today after my blood test and sonogram came back. And between my doc and obgyn they said “you just need to lose weight”. Thats it. No follow up. I am so happy that I finally have an answer from the major pain of cysts rupturing. And I have gained 40 pounds in over a year. Before this mess I was a normal college student. Moderately healthy. Balanced food (yeah alcohol on the weekends). But mostly whole foods, delicious salads, went to the gym 2-3 /week and i walk my dog every day and night. It just broke my heart to see the scale at 190 yesterday. (I also find it Bizarre that with my history of an ED my doctor just said well calorie count.)

  • wowow! just stumbled on this today! This is amazing. It’s crazy how much doctors just have no idea and just give the same basic textbook information on pcos. I have learnt more here than what I have going to the doctors for the past 10 years. Im 25 years old and was diagnosed with pcos when i was 15. I lost my period, gained facial hair, had severe abdominal cramps and depresseion. I had been to several doctors and they all told me the same thing “loose weight and you’ll be fine”.. They gave me no information on what the condition is, they gave me no reason to why I had it.. just told me I was overweight and to go exercise and go on a diet. So thank you for this info!!!   • Coming from a farmer family we have been growing wheat for hundred of years and also been eating too all our lives. We don’t have any allergies, cancer, or any other health issues at all..We are not fat! maybe we don’t use any chemical spray on our food but then I visit America. I learned most of food in America is so bad and unhealthy. And also first time I ever heard “Gluten Free” food. So problem is not a wheat but chemicals you spray and genetic food.

  • Let me tell you something people. I stopped eating all refined wheat products (white flour) and white foods ( rice) for one week and I lost 12 lbs. It is very addicting and inflammatory. It is in cereal, cookies, zucchini breads, fig newtons, croutons, bread crumbs, doughnuts, scones, pies, cakes, muffins, sandwiches, etc. You get the picture? It is in almost everything!!! Combine that with what they do to fatten up animals for slaughter, is it any wonder why so many people are fat?

  • Nearly 4 years of living gluten free, changed my life forever. I have been bothered lately by products containing glucose, glucose is made from wheat and barley. That crap will kill you. Beware, I’m not sure when sugar was replaced with glucose-fructose in pop but they did that. Why???

  • like some of the commentors, i too have teared watching this as i’ve been recently diagnosed with PCOS for over a year because of over/lengthy bleeding. after many visits to the doc with test and meds, i’m currently on metformin. i’m a big girl since young and apparently it’s because of pcos i’ve been this size (cause of the cravings and loving food and love to eat) but issues only started a year ago when my menses were not stopping. i’ve had irregular cycles since then. i’m on my 3rd month of metformin and i’m not sure if it’s working. cause of metformin, my appetite has been surpressed (as expected and warned by my doc) but my weight is still the same (even with abit of exercise and cutting down on food portions cause of no appetite to eat)… i dont know what else to do. i’m just tired of having periods everyday (i’ve not swam for ages)

  • I just stumble on this article, and i also thought like this Dr, but learn that its not wheat what is the problem, but first of all its instant yeast,and high fructose corn syrup. Again i am writing this on my own experience i did on my own body. I came from Europe in 1994 and at that time i was 30 year old and my weight was only 110 lb and my height is 5’9. In first 6 months i gain so much weight eating how i was eating back in home. My weight went up to 164lb. I tried diet high protein low carbs, nothing, ate lots of veggies not so much fruit still couldnt lose weight. Also i need to add i do not exercise in gym, i am not big fan of gyms. I love my garden i do my home work cleaning house work. But after i learn about HFCS that this could be a problem i start buying things what had no HFCS in it. My weight went down to 125 lb only in 1 year. I do eat now bread and pasta and everything what does not have corn syrup. I bake my own sourdough bread and bake once a week some sweets but here in USA sugar is used way too much in baking sweets. I dont have any health issues and now i am 55 year old. I am going through hormonal changes, but i am still 130lb.My grand daughter 3 year old love sourdough bread and no complaints there. What i believe from my own experience that wheat as i first thought was the enemy for me its acctually not
