How Slow & Fast METABOLISM works? Details explanation by Guru Mann

Video taken from the channel: Health And Fitness

If you eat below your resting metabolic rate, then your body is going to slow the metabolism. It does this to protect you, so that you can live longer. It has no idea your on diet. Most women do this and make their metabolism sluggish. Then, you get to whine about how your metabolism is in the crapper.

Why Your Fat Loss Is in the Crapper When someone refers to your metabolism, it is referring to the process of converting the food and drink you’ve consumed into energy your body can use. The speed at which your body utilizes this energy (calories) is known as your metabolic rate. If you’re concerned about slow metabolism and your weight, talk to your doctor about healthy changes you can make.

And if you still think you have slow metabolism, your doctor can check your metabolism or check for rare conditions that can cause problems with metabolism and weight, such as an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), Cushing syndrome or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Probably not. There is definitely a thing called slow metabolism, but in a very rare case, it can hinder your weight loss process. Weight loss is mostly dependent on the diet you follow, the type of exercise you perform, your genetics, medication you take, your sleeping habits and other things.

So it’s a double challenge if you have a slow metabolism and you want to lose body fat. Your slow metabolism makes it difficult to lose the fat, but the fat makes it difficult to speed up your. ASIDE FROM making you out of shape, high-fat diets are bad for the heart and other vital organs. Often, the slowdown of the body’s metabolism has been blamed on inactivity or a sedentary lifestyle.

Proof of this lies when the body does the opposite. Canadian researchers report that dieters with the most organochlorines (pollutants from pesticides, which are stored in fat cells) experience a greater than normal dip in metabolism as they lose. Frequently consuming sugar-sweetened beverages may slow down your metabolism. In a 12-week controlled study, overweight and obese people who consumed 25% of their calories as fructose-sweetened.

Increasing Calories Can Help You Lose Fat – If Your Metabolism Is Slow By Oskar Faarkrog I recently started taking on more clients for my Online Transformation Program and today I’ll show you how increasing Calories can help you lose fat, if your metabolism is slower than it should be. So if your metabolism is slower, then you’re not going to burn fuel as fast, and that’s going to cause you to store body fat. If you have a fast metabolism, that’s going to allow you to burn more.

List of related literature:

This is due to the foods you eat, because some foods actually increase your metabolism and turn your body into a fat-burning machine and other foods slow down your metabolism and cause it to be in fat-storing mode.

This apparent inconsistency may be explained by Millward’s adaptive metabolic demand model, which proposes that the body adapts to either high or low levels of intake, and that this adjustment to changes in intake occurs only very slowly.

  • Thanks for the video content! Sorry for the intrusion, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you heard about Dinanlinson Trained Body Approach (probably on Google)? It is a great exclusive product for learning how to control your metabolism to lose weight minus the normal expense. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my close friend Aubrey finally got great results with it.

  • What the… is he speaking English or Hindu?????

  • I love how Americans always talk about Grass Fed Beef, Legit all beef in the UK is grassfed. American Agriculture is fucked up haha

    Great video man!

  • My blood sugar is 6 according to u.k. measures. Does not

  • I was a little chubby as a kid and no diet ever worked for me, but when i turned 13 i started losing weight massively, without a single change in my diet or what i ate. I still dont know what happened, but it turns out i got to the point that i was freaking skinny i could eat whatever i wanted without worryng about it, i seriously ate pretty much 99% carbs and sugar in my diet. As i spent my childhood being overweight which affected me psychologically, i worry about losing this “magic”, specially after gaining some pounds (lean mass) bc of a medical treatment i had. Can someone tell me if my story is possible and if i can lose this at any moment in my life? Idk if i always had a fast metabolism, or if i won it as a miracle or something, or if it came along with puberty. The last statement doesnt make sense, ik lots of friends who were and still are chubby until today. Can someone help me or give me some light here?? This seems like a weird af situation

  • Bhai simple English se Insaan K personality achee lagte h…or AAP intana accent me kyu Bolte ho yhi fake or banwati lagaa h…. speak simple like Indian.

  • Hi sir,

  • Love your channels Thomas!! Even my husband teases me “watching your Thomas Videos”!!??
But my question is, What if I don’t have a thyroid from removal by radiation? I’ve battled my weight for 14 years now

  • Mera metabolism Bohut Fast hai Than Weight hain nahi hota tha then Maine Purchase kiya On serious mass Belive me Just Jab se Corona Lockdown shuru hua Hai Means 2 month Mai Maine Unbelievab Result Apne Mai dekhe hai Mera weight 49-50 kg Tha After On serious mass Use karne ke baad Aaj mera Within 2 month now I have a 67 kg Weight!

  • I wish I`d learned about the earlier! I would`ve lost 14 lbs years back. This program doesn’t ask you to modify your specific diet or you ought to work out. It simply minimize your hunger to it with out sacrificing your wellbeing. Google should help you to discover it. Guide’s name is Peyton Huno†az
    good luck

  • son is having good amount of nutrients??good quantity and quality food but he doesn’t get weight??so he’s high metabolism is good or bad??he’s 3.???

  • I did lchf for a year. List 50 lb and the last 3 months were so difficult! And the weightloss so slow. Now it’s so hard to get back on it. It’s been over a year and when I am able to stick with I’m not loosing. I really thought lchf and intermittent fasting was the answer but now I don’t know

  • I have a question, I am currently in recover from an eating disorder and I have been struggling to follow a meal plan. I was wondering if the best thing for me to do would be to do a reverse diet to slowly increase the amount of calories I eat instead of trying to shove them all in at once. Thanks in advance!

  • Just a question regarding reverse dieting you have said to try increasing by around 50cal per week but it’s not clear if you mean 50cal extra daily or 50cal extra total for the week. I checked questions on your reverse dieting video in the link above but there are conflicting answers when this was asked before (one you said to increase 50cal on one day each week and another you said to do (for example) 1900cal/day week one, 1950cal/day week two, etc.). Thank you so much for all your informative videos, much appreciated:)

  • Lol I needed this, back in high school I was fit and 210-220’ish lbs and use to eat a whole lot and never gained weight, and then senior year and college happened where I wasn’t or hardly active and my fatass now weighs 270lbs luckily I don’t look bad, but still wholy shit I need to lose weight and get my metabolism going again

  • During the first 2 ish months of lockdown I found myself (accidentally) massively under eating as I was sleeping through breakfast then only eating lunch and dinner and a few hundred calories in snacks and protein shakes (about 1,600-1,800 total calories taken in per day) as well as burning roughly 500 a day through cardio. I’m 18, am 5ft 11 and 140 pounds and believe my maintenance calories was somewhere between 2,000 and 2,400 so I was clearly in a massive deficit for a very long period of time, and have lost 2 stone since last summer. Now as my gym is opening soon I’m looking to get back into weight training and therefore consuming more calories, does anybody have any advice for how I can decrease my deficit whilst not gaining a massive amount of weight due to my presumably broken BMR?

  • Isn’t that overeating protein = converting calories into muscels somehow contradictional to the warnings from eating too much low fat proteins on keto because it will be converted into glucose? I’m sure that this one isnt that simple to be putted into one sentence, it just gave me some food for thoughts

  • THE TRUTH IS… My medical physician NEVER shared this information BECOUSE THE FUCKES DONT KNOW…
The average medical physician think they are experts, but they are not, only a fool will tell you to NOT eat fat and eat more grain and bread fruits like apples ect..and pump yourself full of more insulin when you are a diabetic 2.-
Medical Dr. are and have always been self-important arrogant ppl. with a massive inflated ego.. THAT IN REALTY don’t know shit, other than what they read in an outdated book, that reads like a car manual or a TV manual and has instructions like; if the patient has an infection give him this pill if he has this prob. give him that pill ect ect..
They have no real understanding of what causes a disease and don’t learn how to treat the disease but how to treat the symptoms of that disease and not the disease itself..

  • One thing, What are some carb meals with no fat?
So no oil, butter fatty meats like salmon or beef?
So maybe like tomato scauce pasta with chicken?
Or like literally just eat rice and veg with soy sc?
Thanks for this amazing video, im ripe with belly fat that wont go away been walking like 2 hours a day, nothing! Now im going to buy some weights and start strength training. You saved me.

  • Dear Dr. Eric,
I would love some advice from you please. If I’m insulin resistant and have PCOS, would you recommend OMAD or 2 meals a day IF to correct my hormones and lose weight?

  • I wish I can just eat whatever and not gain no weight. Well if you know where any vampires are send them my way supposedly they have fast metabolism.

  • I’ve never liked Caffeine. But I started having green Tea last week. I hope that’s better than worse. I have no problem cutting it out though.
    I hate Coffee lol.

  • Question: am I insuline resistant if my BP and A1c are good and optimal, have NO cravings, Little hunger or none some days, yet have belly fat, no energy, do omad most days, or 2mad, with the occasional water only day on Keto mostly yet loose no weight… Some things just don’t make sense…

  • I love watching your videossoo helpful. The one problem I have is I do not have my thyroid anymoreyears ago I developed a goiter and had to have my thyroid removednow on medication (synthroid) for the rest of my life. where do I fit in your advice? Could you do a video for those of us without our thyroids…
I have been doing intermittent fasting for 5 months and have lost 70# but have been on a plateau for almost one of those months! Taking a break from fasting but want to lose at least 50 more #s. Any ideas how to get back to losing?

  • I absolutely love this channel. Uninformed youtubers usually just tell you to eat some weird plant or tea and don’t give that much information, but you do. Thank you so much!

  • me clicking on this video as a caveman looking for nutritional tips and tricks: this is like chinese. I didnt understand. And now Im more confused than when I got here. You’re using all these technical terms. Just tell me exactly what to eat and what to do. Lol

  • Careful with chromium though…
Be extra safe that you’re consuming food containing trace minerals of trivalent chromium, those are the chromium compounds essential to human nutrition mentioned in this video.
Stay as far away as you can from any form of hexavalent chromium compounds because those are highly toxic to the human body.

  • i would like if you would do a video going into detail on STRETCHING (dynamic and static) and the benefits(flexibility, range of motion, posture, muscle blood flow, physical performance, injury prevention, stress release etc) and myths on them.

  • Lots of BULLSHIT is being told in this video… starting at the very beginning….
You cant just give iodine and the thyroid gland immediately miraculously starts producing more hormones. Its is NOT as simple as that.
ACV? Another witch doctor recommendations, others use maple syrup but it also doesnt help…. etc etc…
You are a mere buff-dude. You dont understand much about how things REALLY work.

  • I’m 51 & I’ve been trying to eat protein since I was a child. I cannot digest it & tbh, eating the corpse of an animal utterly sickens me so that’s not going to happen (ever again I used to have to lie down after I ate when I was a child. We were a 3 meat & one veg family). I can barely eat a single egg once a month. If I really push it, and I’m fairly well, I can eat one maybe a week…. maybe. Even beans make me feel sick. I’ve tried protein shakes MILLIONS of times. Again, I have to be pretty well to do that. I can’t keep doing this. It’s taking me longer & longer to recover. What on earth can I do?
(I suffer from chronic migraine/headaches daily, fibromyalgia, PVImmune dysfunction fatigue syndrome, IBS, MCS etc). Due to meds, I’m now gaining weight & painkillers don’t help, neither do my hormones which are out of whack, plus I’m heading into ‘that’ time of life. VERY scary. I often eat one meal a day. My head makes my tummy feel like a rock, eating is always hard work. Help please. It’s hard enough to keep fit & healthy when you don’t have health issues, but try it when you’re not in an optimal starting position!!!

  • I’ve heard that if you overeat protein, your body converts that excess protein into carbs, which ends up being the same as having eaten all those carbs. Is there any truth to that? Is overeating protein dangerous after all?

  • Antipsychotics broke my metobolism at his worse. I Gained 30KG in less then 7 months!

Awfull meds for your health in every imaginable way not evening mentioning the extreme fatigue.. Just be aware!

  • Thomas, I drink ACV (2Tbl spoon) with 10oz of hot water to which I add the juice of a half lemon, teaspoon of turmeric, teaspoon of cinnamon, teaspoon of ginger and a pinch of fresh ground black pepper. It tastes good. I love it.

  • You dont know how happy I am that you posted this because I really need help!

If you see this then Can you tell me what I’m doing wrong? I am currently doing a reverse diet after losing weight and I have already gained 2 kilos from it even though I am not up to maintenance. I am lifting heavy and only increasing calories by 20 every week so I am going slow and steady. I dont understand what I’m doing wrong and I’m scared my metabolism is screwed even though it’s my first ever cut

  • Please try to speak in Hindi also. I liked your video, yet I will not subscribe to your channel, because you are only speaking English, which many people still do not know properly

  • Thomas Delauer, you are a genius but you get so in depth that although I can follow you I have a hard time filing the information in my head. If you haven’t already you need to make up video and book packages targeted at different groups. with a sort of over all weight loss/muscle growth/general health overview organizing the basic must do advice from the more advanced stuff. I am a cheap bastage but if you did one for over 40s that could sort of be my health/weight loss/workout bible, I would buy one.

  • I dont crave anything right now If im tired Id crave tea or coffee so I have a hard time eating protein, that being saidwould I get the same results by consuming sun warrior protein shakes?

  • How to consume the recommended 4700mg of potassium and not mess up with high spiking food? Bananas and potatoes seem to be a no-go.

  • Hey Thomas! I love your videos and they’re super informative. I was trying keto out a couple times and it just wasn’t for me. Then I decided to cut red meat, pork, and chicken out of my diet. So I eat healthy fish like sardines, shrimp, healthy salmon etc… I’ve noticed an initial drop in my weight but now I’m climbing back up:( How can I boost my protein and limit my carb intake while going mostly ovo/lacto vegetarian? Any recommendations or fellow Youtubers who have this veggie protein on lock? I’m going to try the iodine and chromium in my morning tea b/c I know I’m not getting those nutrients. Thanks in advance! <3 Keep up the good work!

  • Thomas THANK YOU for your videos… you have been such an influencer for understanding the details of how our bodies work and what to do to eat as we should rather than how our country teaches in a broken method that is grossly outdated. Fasting has become a major part of my world, how to break a fast, taking care of the thyroid, fatty liver, HOW and WHAT and HOW OFTEN to eat as we age, hormones, working out, all of it! SO appreciate you and your hard work. Makes a world of difference to me!

  • Dr. Berg, would u have any info on coconutmilk? Im using this a lot and only finding very contradictive info out there. Wondering about this when trying to heal Insuline resistance…
Thank u so much for all your info!! Im so binging on ur videos and they have helped me so much already…:))

  • Thank you so much, Thomas. This video is exactly what I needed to help me. Btw, I love your technical explanations very clear & helps understand mechanisms involved. Enthusiastically subscribed!

  • I’m severely hyperthyroid with all hypOthyroid symptoms. After radiation uptake scan I immediately slammed on 30 pounds over the first 2-3 months and the weight hasn’t been able to budge since. It’s been about 4 years now.
Any ideas on how to reverse that radiation side effect?

  • How do you fast for 36 hour what can you drink what activity and what do you eat when you’re done with your fasting I would like a walk through I have no idea what to do! thanks for the good video it help a lot!

  • My ACV drink is identical to yours, but I only use BRAGG’s ACV. It’s the best! Thank you for this video. I’ve been thin all of my life and right now I weigh 180! Imagine how badly I feel not being able to wear my own clothes.

  • I have been struggling with anorexia for the last 7 years. Went from 38kg up to 49kg. But I still struggle with calories. I workout 5 times a week and eat healthy and try my best to eat enough calories but it seems like my stomach holds all the fat and doesn’t want to lose it. If I under eat it stays flat but as soon as I go on 0 calories in vs out or try to add calories to build more muscles it looks bigger and bigger. I’m so afraid to add even more calories as it triggers my anorexia and I start under eating again. =(

  • Lot of information very good work mam very appreciative I wish you reach lot of people and keep on educating.

Mark this someday I’ll come and comment when you reach millions of subscriptions

    Thanks

  • Mm my height is 168 cm weight is 85 kg age 30 can you please make a diet plan for loosing 10 kg wt and which diet I should follow.

  • Hi Thomas, I always enjoy your video’s and your focus on a healty eating pattern rather than an eating pattern that will make you look good really connects with me. Could you do a video on fixing a fast metabolism some time? I’m eating a minimum of 4000kcal a day, high quality foods, taking care of my sleep and stress, strenght training 3-4 times a week and I still can’t seem to gain weight. I’m at a healthy weight, but I feel like I’m eating excessive amounts of food that might be causing inflammation because of the sheer amount. Would like your insight on this matter. Thanks!

  • Have been fasting for years and after watching your videos, I’ve got lots of ways to improve my IF game! Question for you what’s your view on using coconut cider vinegar instead of apple cider vinegar?

  • This is Indian English. I don’t follow American or British standards. And I’ll call it मेटाबोलिसम only. Make fun of you not being Indian nor British just like a trans, I don’t care.

  • Hello ma’am, Thank you for enlightening about BMR and how to boost BMR.
I am looking for a Nutrition facts for veggies and fruits. Please share the same. Thank you.

  • Your videos are the gift that keeps on giving. It has taken me 4 months to loose 30lbs. I still need to loose 12 more so this video helped to remind me not to raid that almond butter jar between meals!

  • How long should we break from the HIIT? I’m literally gaining weight and in a calorie deficit a year after being septic and being in ketosis from being so sick. I need my bmr to work again. I eat well and exercise. So frustrating.

  • Hello madam,
I m suffering from hypothyroidism for last 10 years, feeling fatigue, anxiety, low memory power & low libido etc…
    Do suggest some healthy tips…

  • Hi Marisa, I am worried about lifting weights because I don’t want to have any large/bulky muscles. While your muscles look beautiful and toned, i am assuming you are 5,4” or under with an hourglass fugue. It will not look the same on me… a 5’10” tall straight framed woman. I would look unfeminine. Are there any resistance training workouts that don’t cause significant bulking/visible muscle mass increase?

  • Dr Berg, that is the funniest thumbnail pic .. I laughed so hard when it showed up on my recommendations… that’s exactly my reaction when I sometimes look at my bathroom scale . I am a chef.. lots of long, late nights at work with wine to take the edge off. I really watch what I eat thinking that i can enjoy an extra couple glasses of wine while I work This video blew my mind I was doing everything wrong !! You are an amazing teacher I GET IT NOW!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you so much for this video, I have watched so many of these ” know it all health guru’s ” and this is the first time I completely understand what is happening inside of my body when it comes to weight loss, now with everything I put into my body, I can actually visualize the exact mechanics of how my body will react / function and what the outcome will be just WOW !!! Love your channel, I learn sooooo much from you stay awesome Dr. Berg and btw your wife is awesome too she seems very funny and nice ❤.

  • I honestly don’t understand why I am seeing so much hate in the comments.Personally,I felt the video was rather helpful and her body language was pretty engaging and uplifting. It is sad to see people prefer the straight faced talkers. You go Sapna! I am glad and grateful you posted this.Forget the haters.

  • Very informative and helpful. I am surely going to inculcate your suggestions and tweak my eating habits and foods. God bless you and keep sharing your wonderful knowledge for betterment of masses.

I want to gain my weight.
Bt m suffering all the symptoms of slow metabolism.
I don’t knw if m having slow metabolism or fast metabolism..
Plz guide me to keep my metabolism fast n side by side how I can gain weight faster…

  • But some people eat alot but on the other hand they feel that they havn’t eat with in few minutes…..
They are so thin….. So whats ur ans ‘ll b
Whats the problem with them…. What should they do

  • I do 1 day fast after every 15 days
And 36 hr fast every 6 month.
    Though its from religious aspect.
And add turmeric in almost everything as our food culture.
    Sorry for my bad English.
But after watching this video i found out,all this is helping my metabolism

  • This video kinda discouraged me. I actually like to run and it’s my main form of exercise right now. I usually run for 40 minutes and then do 20 minutes stretching and 20-30 minutes of arms, back or abs if my muscles aren’t sore. Now I am feeling like I am doing this all wrong, but this is really working for me mentally so I honestly don’t think I could or want to spend 60 minutes lifting weights. I am so confused on what to do. I have lost 13 pounds in 6 weeks doing this but I am scared my metabolism is ruined now so I will just gain it back.

  • I absolutely love this advice. For a long time I was losing a lot of weight but my problem was that I had to keep eating lower and lower calories to maintain it. And since quarantine I have gained 20 pounds back but instead of going on keto or keto vegan or Rob vegan or a short term diet I am working very hard to build muscle. Because I noticed thatI already eat over my calories because I have gained weight back so now I am using those extra calories to build muscle I’m literally trying to even out my metabolism so I have more muscle that will eat away the fat. I do not allow myself to do cardio I focus solely on weightlifting.

  • @MissFitAndNerdy might be a stupid question, but if resistance training (lifting) is helping speed up one’s metabolism in opposition to cardio training, what is the role of interval training and tabata training? Is this going to work for or against an efficient metabolism?
Also I really like your content and your vibrant personality, full of energy: ) Cheers from France

  • When i eat the calories Im supposed to be intaking I gain more weight. And I do cardio and weight lifting….. and I eat healthy food

  • Honestly, it’s a lot to do with genes and intense activities you did as a child (5-10yrs old) to build your muscle structure like swimming or gymnastics, they tend to stay for life. Some ppl genetically store more fat than muscle (like people whose ancestors lived in cold climates to survive winters). Calorie counting will help very little, you will always have to work out to maintain weight loss, you will never just be slim, unfortunately, you missed that childhood window.

  • I run about 25-30 mile a week with one tempo and one HIIT run in that week. I’ve ran several marathons and mini marathons, and I did cross country and track in high school. I also strength training, but I’m worried the cardio I’m doing is slowing me down. I’ve been stuck at 1000-1100 calories, and when I increase I just gain weight. Should I stop the cardio?

  • Thank you for this video, it really explains things well. I have one question, given way you have said about calories in/calories out why are you still tracking? If it is sooo much more complex why track? Xxx

  • As expert, I believe Custokebon Secrets can be great way to lost crazy amounts of weight. Why not give it a chance? maybe it is going to work for you too.

  • I hear many people keep on speaking about Episoketren System. But Im uncertain if it’s good. Have you ever tried this popular training course?

  • Hi. I’ve been going through a plateau for a very long time now (months). I have been eating around 1200-1400 cal a day for about 10 months. I do not know how to start increasing calories properly. My goal is to simply lose 5-10 pounds (mainly fat). I am feeling very sad, angry, frustrated. What can I do?:/

  • Love your videos. I am currently doing Muay Thai training three times a week as well as intense dancing (both of which are mostly cardio), yoga everyday and 25 minutes of resistance training daily as well.

I am doing so much because It has reduced my anxiety and really made me happy. Also, I do not have a lot of resistance training equipment at home so I have been using water bottles and gallons to build up. And I don’t generally go to gyms so cardio feels more in my comfort zone.

But watching this video I was wondering if I am not overdoing it and slowing my metabolism too much. Anyways… thank you for this, I will consider everything.

MissFitAndNerdy Do you know the thermic effect of food.. or the percentage increase of energy expenditure of food with high fiber content?.. I mean something like vegetables rich in Fibre? (Broccoli, spinach, artichoke, etc. / not necessarily grains or bread). It would be interesting to know. I googled it and found several studies but non that mentioned fibre in specific, all where fats, carbohydrates and protein as you mentioned on the video. Hope you see the question, thanks!!

  • Hi Marisa,
I had a question about reverse dieting:
Say you plan to add 50 calories per week to daily intake, can that be done as a daily thing? I.e monday 1200 calories, tuesday 1210, Wednesday 1220 etc.. and just be as effective? If not better ‍♀️‍♀️
    Thanks!

  • I can eat and still be full 6 hrs later i have no motabolism at all! Ive been on keto for a week now its bloody hard but not as hard as being fat and unhappy!

  • i have never really understood whether DIT is factored into calorie counts. for example 20g of protein contains 80 kcal. Does that mean 80 net calories or net 64 kcal.

  • OMAD has been a game changer for me,I do 6 days a week and eat breakfast, dinner and tea on a Sunday, lost weight, feel great, focused and strong. Also I never feel hungry till my main meal each evening. This plus supplementation,no alcohol and exercise has changed my life. Thank you for your amazing knowledge, peace and love John,Liverpool England ❤️✌️

  • I started to listen to you I forgot what video it was but you said something about slowly upping calories after strict calorie, every week I’m gonna up my calories by 25 calories I’m already one week in and I lost more centimeters in a week than I have in a while I also exercised less anyone who is scared of upping your calories don’t be scarred and TRY IT OUT!!

  • I am someone who definitely has a slow metabolism. I find it so hard to shed weight. Often low energy and the only diet I find that helps significantly is keto… Any tips?

  • This is it!!!! Over the past 3 months my insulin levels went from 12 to 13 to 17!!!! How are the insulin levels increasing when I am being “healthier” and cutting carbs significantly? 06/01/2020 to 07/01/2020 I ate 1431 cals a per day on omad and averaged 26g of carbs per day. I gained 5lbs. I’m 5’7 and 255. The weight should have fallen off. This video explains why. My insulin levels increased in June. I am dropping my protein to 75g or less per day.

I just did a 60 hour fast and had my insulin levels retested. I’m interested to see if my levels went down. I dropped from 256 to 251 in 3 days. When I broke the fast I did 2 meals 75% fat and 83g of total protein (over 75 but definitely under the 120g in a single meal from before). Dropped 1lb the next day.

By George, I think we’ve got it.

  • Well, cardio is a tool you can use, cause getting really lean you cant cut calories forever. Not to mention that once you get used to it, it is an even better tool at keeping your BF percentage low. I believe in eating right, strenght and cardio training. The holy trinity 😉

  • Hello, could you please answer I have a question for you, is HIIT and other forms of bodyweight movements considered cardio? Like plyometrics, calisthenics, compound movements, etc?

  • Well explained. You’re talented in explain very complex biological functions! Love your message ❤
Have you ever thought about giving lectures? I trust you, because I’ve rarely heard a woman talk so confidently about a topic. In addition, you recognize mistakes in the logical thinking of people and break things down very understandably. Amazing!!
You have exactly the same opinion as i have been trying to explain to people around me for years and i agree with you 100% in your statements. Please keep up the high quality content! ❤

  • Would love to hear you speak about Leptin resistance as well. I think it’s much more common than people think and a huge part of fat loss. Great video btw! ❤

  • From the viewpoint of evolutionary fitness, a slow metabolism is advantageous. You should aim for the highest healthy ( and thus optimal ) body fat percentage possible.
Which for men would be 18-19ish % and for women around 32% and a functional amount of muscle mass ( being able to pulland push your bodyweight effortlessly.

  • YES I am excited about this. Sea kelp, chromium, acv morning drink, strength training, half caffeine/decaf, 36 hr fast ending in the morning, tumeric. Cold shower. Keto. Totally doable. Should the fast be once a month? Every other week?

  • Of course all those points in trying to get more metabolism and losing fat are critical and complex. It’s not like a linear function. I definitely feel more energized after lifting. Cardio is definitely good if you haven’t exercised in a long time but for adding muscle it is not good. Lately there have been workouts that I have done which are mostly fat burning since the Fitbit app you can add workouts on there and it tells you what most of your workout is in which zone.

  • 1. Lift heavy things (resistance training) | 2. You need to make sure you get enough sleep! | 3. Eating enough calories (reverse dieting + resistance training helps with metabolic rate), eat enough protein thermic effect, eat enough B vitamins (especially critical).

  • Head movements of her is a her own way of explaining action which she is used to.people who really wants information will never concentrate on extra actions and body of other as their focus would be only on words.

In jan I started the cliche get into shape goal but with long term thoughts in mind a d so far i am down from 195 to 182 but in fat i believe that number is higher cause I’ve put on some muscle. Hope that inspires you!

  • Too much protein is bad according to Dr. Becky Gillaspy. She says that if you take in more protein than your body can use it has to be excreted which is hard on your kidneys, or your body converts it to glucose. Protein also spikes insulin which I recently learned.

  • I have struggled with eating disorders for nearly a decade and it has done so much damage to my metabolism that the only way I can lose weight is starving. I can’t lose weight unless I’m eating less than 500 kcal a day. Thank God there’s a way to fix it, I was so defeated… I was about to relapse but this gave me hope:)

  • And none of us is interested in working out,we all are unfit and have bellys hanging on us, nothing we got to do with dis video. Just randomly came here

  • Change your diet but dont diet. Know what is good and what is crap. Whole foods and single ingredient foods are best. Grain and sugar are to be avoided as much as possible. I.F is a must to control diet whether its 12/12, 16/8, 20/4 or 23/1(1 meal a day). These things in combination will melt fat.

  • I want to do the Keto but he gives so many video, so much information, how in the world as a newbie so I even begin. All do this and don’t do this, make sure have enough or don’t do too much of these. Head spin. What I need is a basic day, calories per day. Do work out, don’t work out. Help lol

  • stop taking antidepressant n doing IF half a year i dropped about 10 pounds while i consume like double the amount of calories as before (eating more at meals then junk food afterwards yesterday i ate a pound of ice cream). my family stopped telling me i was fat ( i wasnt as thin as a young asian girl but not THAT fat tho) and my overall health noticably improved. BELIEVE HIM GUYS THIS IS PURE EDUCATION (they should teach this in schools instead of meaningless things). thank you very much doctor.

  • I was literally googling like crazy yesterday why I plateaued on my weightloss and then I saw this video! I only need to lose around 20 more pounds and my body is FIGHTING it.

  • think of this like this: every time you snack you destroy any your plans of loose weight
so eat as least frequent as you can
I eat 8am, then 8 pm, nothing in between, just water

  • Lower cortisol by taking poppy seeds and adaptogens. Poppy seeds clean up cortisol, help the body relax and improve sleep. Full of nutrients too.

Add a lot of fiber by eating about 10 moringa seeds per day in batches of 5 at a time, preferably 30 mins to an hour before a meal so that if your stomach runs due to the fiber then you don’t lose most of the nutrients your meals provide. Experiment with the number of seeds that’s comfortable for you. Moringa seeds also have lots of nutrients.

This blended mixture has helped me a lot in dealing with fatty liver/insulin resistance issues:

    2 cups of ACV(metabolism etc)
1 cup honey ( break insulin resistance. etc)
    1/2 cup lemon juice
2 tbs poppy seeds (to clean up cortisol, improve sleep quality, etc)
3 tbs milk thistle seeds (for the liver, kidneys and brain, etc)
2 tbs triphala powder (for the liver and fat burner, etc)
2 tbs cinnamon (blood sugar regulation, fat burner, etc)
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (fat burning, etc)
5 10 cloves of fresh garlic (fat burner, etc)
fresh ginger root same amount as garlic (fat burner, etc)
100 ml aloe vera juice (natural preservative, etc)

Blend thoroughly until liquid like, store in a container and take a tablespoon when you wake up(after brushing your teeth since ACV might weaken tooth enamel), before and after a meal and when going to bed at night. Also, this mixture target several organs. For the bladder you might want to add 1/2 cup of prune juice for instance. If you find the mixture too strong, then drink some water after taking it.

Remember that plants have more than one benefit. In this case, we are interested in burning fats, assisting the liver work better, lowering cortisol and correcting insulin resistance long term. So dont expect overnight results, though it might happen to some. However, this reduces bloating too. The same mixture can be used to strengthen the immune system or fight pathogens for instance or general daily body cleanse.

  • My metabolism is so ruined after years of suffering from eating disorders.. and even if I’ve recovered fully since about 5 years my metabolism is still not working well

  • I love all these videos. Kinda binge-watching them:) The doc is so professional, eloquent and doesn’t waste time (his or mine). But I really can’t get why in the age of YT we should take notes:D I mean, can’t you just replay the video if you forgot?:) Still, lots of great advice!

  • This is undoubtedly the best video ever explaining how to get a faster metabolism! I’m so glad I watched this while I’m still young thanks doctor ☺️

  • Why not ONE meal a day? Why just the 3 or 2 meals a day? Wondering why one meal a day is excluded as an option to reduce set-point

  • So when you say low carb, high-fat diet, what would you consider the right combination of macros for a 51-year-old woman who is 75 to 100 lbs. Overweight?

  • How can we speed up our metabolism while in quarentine? Gyms are probably not going to open in months and my sleep schedule is really fucked up because i’m not tired. I do home workouts but my body is used to lift weights and I feel that i’m going to lose muscle… I lowered my calories a little bit because i’m not as active but now i’m scared after hearing this

  • Hi I would like to ask one question, I have adrenal fatigue, I have LOT OF salt crawings I eat like 400-500 % more salt than regular person Just to be pleased with salinity. Does it mean that my body dont have any aldosterone which can hold sodium in body? I have mostly time low blood pressure, I have started to drink lemon+himalayan salt in water + vitamine C I am wonder if I am helping my self.. it is 3 days and I am fatigued more than before. When you talked about aldosterone, when it is realased, cortisol is realased aslo to the body.. so when I drink 0,5 L of lemon water + salt in it, my body wants to keep that sodium in my body and then realase aldosteron also with cortisol and thats make me more fatigued? I am not on keto, I know that when I am on keto I have to eat more salt, I am on low carb but not keto, but despite that.. my body do not hold any of salt.. My adrenals are not healing it self.. my fat digestion is terrible.. Dont know how to help myself.. Trying to keep blood sugar levels low but not in ketosis which is burden of adrenals it makes them work harder just to produce cortisol to keep blood sugar at the normal range ( when it is low it make cortisol to boost blood sugar.. ) what I am supposed to do.. IS it possible that this lemon salt water drink makes it even worse? Is there anyone who have same problems? I would be glad if someone helps me just little bit. Thanks

  • It’s crazy how many different sets of opinions there are when it comes to an efficient diet. I see tons of “experts” singing the praises of 5-6 meals a day. This guy, on the other hand, says you should stick to 3.

  • Bhaiya, what if a person follows body weight training or home workout, what process could be good to follow, as you have suggested to follow your given workout programs, like muscle mode, shredded, 5×5, etc. Plzz suggest, love you bhaiya

  • Just what I find fantastic with regard to metabolic food recipe collection is that often it allowed so as that I really could effortlessly prepare my meals and in addition work the prep time frame into my very own crazy timetable. I am able to cook certain portions of the meals well in advance to minimize the preparation while i was pressed for the time. The downloadable copy on my smart phone made searching out to buy the active ingredients simple not to mention a good part of those ingredients are easy to find not to mention typically cost-effective. I researched and just couldn’t come across such a really good number of quality recipes similar to this anywhere. Read my detailed review on my website
