There are so many benefits of doing good beyond the act itself. Studies show that when we help others, we reduce stress, prolong life expectancy, lower blood pressure and increase happiness. All of this comes as no surprise after participating in a charity ride called Chefs Cycle for No Kid Hungry.I was among 235 riders who pedaled 300 miles over three days to raise. With that said, there’s no magic number of miles you need to ride to slim down.

Instead, it’s all about balancing your diet and physical activity so that you burn more calories than you take in, which prompts your body to use up stored fat as fuel. Cycling for 300 minutes, or five hours, can help you easily lose one or more pounds each week. Decrease caloric intake to increase weight loss potential. Riding a lot can make you fit, but you need a specific strategy if you actually want to lose fat. a good rule of thumb to remember: Weight loss is. Whether it be losing weight, improving your on bike efficiency or utilising fat as a energy source.

When executed correctly fasted rides. Steady exercise with good, lean food equals steady weight loss that you’ll be able to keep off. 5 simple rules to avoid weight gain while eating enough for cycling 14. In fact, most beginning cyclists make the mistake of overeating because they feel good about the exercise that they’ve done, making the workout counterproductive to weight loss. In order to get the most out of your cycling and to lose weight in the process, it is important to follow basic rules of nutrition to stay healthy and to keep riding.

Soon he was up to 5 miles, riding past the nearby warehouses. putting only 300 miles on their car in a year and a half. Cutshall had biked another 4,083 miles and his total weight loss. city bike riding also has a limited exercise benefit. If you weigh 150 lbs and walk two miles to work at four miles/hour you will burn 150 calories.

If you ride your bike that distance at 10 miles/hour, you will only burn 75 calories. If you are over 50, think twice before you get on a bicycle, especially if you plan on riding in busy traffic. The potential to lose weight by running or cycling depends on how you participate in the sport and how you combine it with healthy eating and other habits.

While running does burn more calories on.

You are also more likely to start your workout with adequate body fluid so that a 2 percent weight loss during a ride is an actual 2 percent body weight loss due to dehydration, not a net 4 percent body weight loss because you started the day and the workout already 2 percent down from day-today dehydration.

Research on maintaining weight indicates that moderate to vigorous physical activity of 150 to 250 minutes per week, at an energy equivalent of 1200 to 2000 kcal per week (about 12 to 20 miles per week of jogging or running) is sufficient to prevent weight gain (Swift et al, 2014).

  • I have an electric bike… Im not losing much weight but Im doing off-road trails and longer/tougher routes… Definitely helping, but my main focus is on calisthenics workout routines at home.
    Cycling is just good fun.:)

  • You are amazing!! You are indeed an inspiration!! I picked up a Giant Cycle.. Riding after 32 years.. 1 was 94.6kg.. a month after IAM 87 kgs.. and still ticking!! Thank you for the motivation!! You are super cool!!

  • This all sounds great and very convincing but have you ever tried to run and walk over 3000+ miles a year over 35 years burning fat alone? After 6 weeks on a keto diet performance drops considerably and keto grinds you to complete ashes.

  • Might have to give this ago, silly question but i havent been on a bike for years im interested in cycling machines to start with will they burn the same amount off? Thanks:)

  • Hi I have just gone through the “math” illustrated in your presentation and all my recent bloods come in as an “A”. But my doctor is worried about my LDL’s being 4.5 and suggested statins which I won’t do! My Tri’s are 0.8 and my HDL is 2.39. Should I be worried about my LDL’s. I am just starting on a keto diet, as promised GP I would address my cholesterol via diet. Thoughts? Many thanks

  • Wow! That is a subtle delta! so unless the doctor botter testing the long way! An evaluation is almost useless since it does not show glaciations

  • I notice lots of people keep on talking about Custokebon Secrets (look on google search engine). But I’m not sure if it’s good. Have you ever tried this popular weight loss system?

  • Very inspiring. But at around 1:25 there’s the comment about being a bit embarrassed. This is important for everyone. If you’ve got on a bike, or put on a pair of trainers, or in any way taken the first steps to improving your life, then you have absolutely no reason to be embarrassed. While you’re making the effort, those that might mock, usually are not. When I go out on my bike, I see people wobbling along on brand new super cheap bikes, obviously just starting out. I have as much respect for them as I do for the lycra clad athletes on multi thousand pound bikes, because they’re making the effort, and that always deserves respect.

  • Paleo for 10 years (carbs about 500 ccal), yearly blood test TC 5,5-6,5 LDL 3,2-4,5 TG 0,6-1,4 HDL 1,3-1,5. 50 yo. All was fine until I started getting high BP. In the long term it might cause CV disease.

  • He was very rude with one of his patient because, she did not loose the right weight.
I think he have to be more polite with all this people, who give him a life and financial support.
Need to be more sweet with those people who, need support in their chances and process.

  • I am a software engineer. I need to sit daily 10-12 hours a day in front of my laptop. It has increased my waist. And I have gained my weight. Now I have purchased cycle machine so that I can do exercise whenever I get time. Please let me cycle machine is beneficial for waist reduce? And what is the best time to do this exercise?

  • Losing weight isn’t easy and i can prove it.Trying hard diets that make you feel uncomfortable and hungry all the time isn’t a solution.I have recently discovered about this product that has had fascinating affects on me.Try it out.:)-> http://www.lnk123.com/aff_c?offer_id=228&aff_id=431288

  • Mine is 2.3 mg ratio, triglycerides to HDL. I had gotten if of keto for about a month, had my sugar crash one day to 68mg/dl. Had to eat dextrose to spike sugar. Said enough of that. Back on keto for me and want to stick with it.

  • Thank you for talking about water loss! Most people think that sweating equals weight loss, but actually fat is lost through exhaling burnt up fat tissue in the form of carbon dioxide and other gases. Just because you sweat, you won’t lose more fat…

  • Interesting but doesn’t explain why everyone admitted to Cleveland Clinic for bypass operation had bad TC/HDL ratio and/or moderately high triglycerides.

  • One thing bothers me which i tihnk you did not answer at all. When oxidated LDL goes to the endothelium. What happens to it then if you correct your lifestyle and there wont be coming more oxidated damaged LDL to make blockage and make yo die? I mean, what is the metabolism of the oxidated LDL that ends up in endothelium. Does it ever get out of there by anymeans?

  • Thanks for the great info. I’m so hoping I can get an answer from someone on this. Little background. I’m a 55 year old female. I workout at least 30 min everyday (mixed routines cardio, resistance, yoga, circuit, HIIT, etc.). I have been on a low carb (non-complex carbs), high fat (although lean meat), very low sugar, etc. I recently received my lipid panel results. I had also asked for an NMR test. Here are my results: LDL-C 159 VLDL 9 HDL 46 (mom’s HDL has always been low as well), TRIs 46. Total Cholesterol is 211. Although many docs would say I’m ‘borderline,’ I’m guessing these #s show that I eat more healthy fats. That’s true. HOWEVER… this is the confusing part. My NMR results who LDL-P is 2116 and my small particles are at 776!!!! WTH? If my Tris and VLDL are low, how are these numbers showing extreme risk. I did the MESA calculation and it’s 1.4% (using my CAC # in this formula). Thoughts? Thank you so much.

  • I have a family friend who got gastric bypass everyone was so excited for her and she really thought it was gonna change her life but after the surgery she found ways to overeat without throwing up, she blended meals and ate tons of little meals she now weighs more than before the surgery she makes me mad because of how selfish she is takes no responsibility for anything in her life people really need to get to the mental roots of their problems or they won’t succeed

  • wtf does my weight have to do with saving time up a hill? if I’m 150 pounds but can cycle faster or as fast as someone at 110 pounds how does that measure up?

  • Omg thank you so much and I love this video
I’m starting my cycling journey today hopefully I’ll get to the results I’m looking for

  • My husband and I are carnivore dieters, formerly strict keto dieters. We love Dr. Mason’s talks, we are thrilled to witness a young and enthusiastic physician in the vanguard, sharing this vital information. My sole issue is that we’ll get about two minutes into one of Dr Mason’s talks, and my husband falls soundly asleep. He confesses the Dr’s voice is very soothing and it lulls him into unconsciousness. Every. Single. Time. This breaks my heart, because I truly want my husband to hear this information. It’s very specific to him because he’s had a silent heart attack, received four stents, and we went keto intentionally to bring his lipids under control, which worked for our two years on keto. However, as a carnivore, his cholesterol has risen 100 points in the last seven months. We are working through this with his GP and cardiologist after his recent blood work. His cardiologist wants him to go on an all-plant diet. That’s not going to happen. Meanwhile, we started monitoring his carb/protein/fat macros at 0/25/75. We’re hoping more fat will bring down his cholesterol ratio.

  • Im in the US.This time last year I was on the high end of my ideal weight (140 lbs and 5’5″) and my cholesterol levels were borderline high. Since January, I’ve been doing a fairly loose keto diet, mainly cutting sugar completely and keeping carbs to 20 to 40 per day with moderate fat and protein plus green vegetables. At this time now, I’ve dropped 23 lbs and all of my cholesterol levels are optimal. Total cholesterol at 181, triglycerides at 127, LDL at 88, and HDL at 68!

  • My lipid profile pattern was similar to the example patient was a bit worried about how high my total cholesterol was. But I looked at my TH:HDL ratio and it’s 0.24. Loving keto!

  • Very interesting! I have a question. Does glucose lead to harmful LDL in itself? Or is it all about context, like together with a high fat intake?

Let’s say one does not have a low carb diet, but enjoys a lot of sugar, would it then be wiser to decrease fat in your diet?

  • Hi; I really really enjoyed ur video.
I WORK 5 DAYS A WEEK; I only have Saturday and Sunday
I do workout daily at Home; But wanna reduce 5kg Atleast for better Physique.
Guide me how much I should do cycling?

  • First of all, I was under the impression that high insulin levels were very bad for you. And yet here he is saying that high insulin causes the liver to make LDL receptors and take up LDL. So we want high insulin levels? I dont get it?

  • Nice. My TG:HDL is 0.79. To add to it, my LP(a) is 37 nmol/L. Solid Pattern A. Keto for 4 years! I’m screwed when I need to get life insurance though. Will have to use the Feldman protocol to hack the test.

  • What are some ways to lost a ton of fat? I read a lot of great opinions on the net about how exactly Custokebon Secrets can help you lost lots of fat. Has any one tried using this popular lose weight diet plan?

  • I’m always amazed that people don’t see commuting to work as the perfect time to exercise. It’s free, you get there faster, you feel better when you get there and you don’t have to go to the gym after work. Great work in your journey, cycling is such a pleasure.

  • Does the triglycerides test have to be done fasted? I’ve done my bloodwork unfasted and as my doctor said it does not matter, and results were not that great.
    Triglyceride 2.61 mmol/L
    HDL Cholesterol 1.33 mmol/L
    LDL Cholesterol 6.5 mmol/L
    Triglyceride / HDL Cholesterol ratio= 1.96

I’m 36, male, and have been doing keto for 1 month. Should I ask my doctor for another blood test but fasted this time? Can anything skew the triglycerides scores? Read coffee could affect Triglyceride readings? Thank you for great presentation.

  • I got into cycling because I like riding. I’ve been fortunate to be one of those “high metabolism” guys, so fitness has never been a big problem…..ok….well…let’s say I was skinny, but muscle strength? Yeah, my first day on my bike taught me how out of shape I was. But I had fun riding, even if the climbs were brutal. So I kept riding. Started out doing a few miles, then 5, then 7, then 10, then 12. Then I started incorporating gravel into my route. More challenging climbs, but more exhilarating descents. After 8 months, I started mountain biking on single track. It was a whole new world to explore, new challenges to face, and a whole new definition to “fun.” That was all in 2016.

By 2018, I had met other local riders and we rode the trails on group rides. They convinced me to try out XC racing, so I did. Positively got my arse kicked that first race, but I loved every minute of it. Did a full season that year and finished 3rd overall in Cat 3 30-39 in my region. I raced another full season in 2019, and was set to race another this year (but the pandemic got the races cancelled). This was to be my last season racing Cat 3.

Next year, I’m planning to get a road bike to compliment my mountain bike. Grinding those pedals on the road is excellent training for XC:) I’m absolutely in love with the sport. Now if I could just get my wife hooked…..:(

  • Excellent, I have just received my blood test results. ( panic attack), have been strict keto for months and can exercise relentlessly with lots of energy, I now have High total cholesterol but my tricycerides and Hdl ratio are good, I feel /look better than ever, my doctor wanted to put me on Statins,,no way. This video has eased my anxiety, thank you

  • I bought a fixie bike 2 months ago. I use it like twice a week to go to the gym. Its not that far (like 3km) i weigh 85kg and i’m a beginner when it comes to cycling. I always had troubles when it comes to losing weight. And ı hate Jogging so i See this as a good alternativ to running. Problem is that i live in the middle of a busy City with traffic and stuff. is there any Tips you have for me folks?

  • I can’t run for an hour but i can definitely cycle for as much as 3 hours! Cycling will burn more calorie than running no arguments needed!

  • Just watched this with my blood work print out. Triglycerides. 0.7, HDL 2.9, LDL 3.8, tri to HDL ratio 0.2.
My doc seemed happy. LCHF for the win.

  • Hi Katie, that’s really inspiring considering the challenges posed. I used to bike but I’ve stopped completely and would like to start again, not only to lose weight but to have fun whilst doing it. Any advice on how much mileage to start with and type of bike to buy?
    Appreciate your thoughts on this.
    Cheers!

  • Hello sir I want to grow height my present height is 5/4 or 5/5 but I want 5/11 will it be possible to gain height by cycleing how can I get n my age is 19 n weight is 69kg.. Plz suggest as soon as possible

  • Hi there, have you considered this diet plan called the Custokebon Secrets? My friend says it helps people lost crazy amounts of weight. Is that possible? I also noticed many good review relating to this diet plan. Thoughts?

  • There are two primary types of LDL cholesterol proteins. Type A: lb-LDL-p (large buoyant low-density lipoprotein particle) and Type B: sd-LDL-p (small dense low-density lipoprotein particle) Type A helps transport cholesterol around the body to various tissues as needed. Type B, the potentially damaging LDL protein particle, can get trapped in tissues, cause inflammation and arterial plaquing. Type A is supported by a diet that is high in saturated animal fats and Type B, the one you don’t want too much of, is associated with a high-carb, high fructose diet. If your doctor is not testing you for these subtypes, along with your triglyceride, HDL and total cholesterol levels, then you are not getting the entire picture.

  • What classes as a low intensity work out on a bike? 1hr or more? And which is the best option for losing weight instead of building muscle?

  • I bought an exercise bike to lose weight but found out i could only make 15 mins because holding onto the handlebars was like holding a plank and my wrists were aching,im 300 pounds

  • I have to wake up every morning at 3:00 a.m get ready and get to work at 03:45 am. I have to cycle through a dark forest with cycling roads up a slight mountain for 6 km.

  • Your video starts at 1:53 everyone knows what health hazard belly fat has, you talk too much before your info starts, sorry impatient here. Thanks how do you use cycling at home with an exercise machine?

  • I have probably watched over one hundred video lectures on this exact subject (including Dave Feldman interviews), and I must say that THIS one was the BEST! This was 26 minutes well-spent. I just had so many questions answered. A big shout-out to Dr. Paul Mason from south Florida, U.S.A!
PS. Just a crazy thought, but… Wouldn’t it make more sense (in terms of accuracy) if our lipids vs. glucose lab work was drawn on two discreetly, separate days? Meaning, shouldn’t our lipids panel be drawn in a NON-FASTED state on one day, and then our blood work for A1c and resting glucose, etc. be drawn in a FASTED state on another day?

  • … but even with your higher weight… you look really much attractive Full respect for your motivation and your engagement to go on this journey.

  • I am laughing at myself as i watch this video. I am a veteran cyclist, have been cycling for 11 years now averaging over a 100km everyday. And i don’t really know why i am watching this, but it was fun.

  • Also I have been exercising like others for 4 weeks, as a result, I got lost my weight over appx 20 lbs, but Not only taking out but also Meal plans were needed necessarily.
this video clip is very very useful to remove belly and thigh fat so much. Please. check my channel related to ‘How To Lose Weight So Fast’. Thank you very much.

  • I’ve been losing weight by doing a lot of bike workouts, trying to limit calories (not perfect at it), and drinking lots of green or white tea, especially before and during workouts.

  • We need more training for our gp’s I love my family doctor but she’s convinced I’m going to drop dead because it looks like I’m in the hyper responder category, I think I’m going to do the Feldman protocol and see what she makes of those results after only having my tests last week ‍♀️

  • I actually started cycling recently as well because I hate running but these hills…looks like monsters! Your journey is inspiring!

  • It`d have been better if I found out this kind of diet guide, I would have shed that 14 lbs years ago. This method does not ask you to modify your daily diet or you should work out. It just reduce your appetite to it without having to sacrifice your well being. Find a right program is not easy, you can research by Google. Guide’s name is Peyton Huno†az
    good luck

  • I ride every other day, i sweat a ton and my muscles are very sore. especially my thighs.. but I do enjoy getting out and about and meeting other people

  • When considering eating healthy, you must never fall victim to modern fad diet plans. Extreme diets undoubtedly are a danger for your health, especially ones that seriously restrict your every day nutritional intake. While they may generate rapid loss of weight, these kinds of diet plans will never be a long-term solution for your weight problem. You should search Custokebon Secrets on google as it isn’t just another fad diet where you starve yourself.

  • I should jot down all names of patients who are tattooed because like all of them are. It is the same in two other shows I watch It’s Me or the Dog, and My Cat from Hell. I do not have any tattoos on me and don’t intend to get any. Dr. Now has the perfect disposition for his specialty. He is firm and sometimes blunt when it is called for but also patiently kind and genuinely happy with those who are successful.

  • The problem I have is that I am on a Ketogenic Lifestyle eating plan, so no carbs for me, so what to snack on when on a long bike ride, as I generally cycle on cycle tracks from my home to the seaside in Seaburn, which can take me around 90 Minutes each way, with a quick stop when I get to Seaburn before returning home, so lots of water but what else… Pork Scratchings? Brazil Nuts?? Almonds??? Also I already have lost 4 Stone (25Kg) since March 2020… But still more to come off. Love the videos but is there videos on using Mountain Bikes instead of road bikes, which is what I have.

  • so basically LDL isn’t essentially bad until it’s paired with other things, such as elevated blood glucose. High LDL is fine without external factors (glucose, etc.), and low LDL is also fine…then, if anything lower is better, yes? The subtle problem with LDL (especially when it’s high) is as soon as you slip up on a diet and expose yourself to higher blood glucose (?), it gets damaged and the bad LDL forms. so why not limit LDL to low levels totally in order to avoid diet slip ups then?

  • I’m doing a race circuit 3 times a week. 15.3 miles in 57 mins…. I’m losing so much weight it’s silly. Must be burning 800 calories each time. I also agree you should stick your foot down on the last few miles home and really push push push that will get your heart rate going through the roof!!!!!

  • Why is that woman being so ignorant and rude to him? “That’s what you want”. No, idiot, he wants you to lose weight so you don’t die at 50. Why do they act like they’re doing him a favour?

  • Just found your channel via a link from Juliet.Congrats to you for transforming your life and finding a new way to get healthy and be happy. Keep up the good work….I am a 68 year old guy on Cape Cod who started riding seriously( was always a casual rider) about 4 years ago. I ride 150 miles per week all year long and I am in the best shape of my life and found many new friends on the trails. Btw…. I ride Catrikes as I find them to be much more comfortable, especially on the long rides. Your videos are great.

  • Well done! I really love the best parts about cycling; I love the freedom, the views you can chance upon, the downhills (haha), but I HATE, and I mean HAAAAAAAATE it when it gets tough on the legs and lungs. I MUCH prefer running because for some reason I can run through pain, but I can’t seem to handle it when on a bike. I’m not sure why, but I feel like you need a LOT more leg power to cycle; the running mechanics come naturally to me and it’s easy for me to push myself, but I have relatively weak stick legs which really don’t help me on a bike, lol.

Unfortunately, I keep picking up injuries running so I think I’m gonna have to switch completely to cycling; I just need to work on my leg power, and get used to the movements that just don’t come naturally to me.

Congratulations on changing your life. The most impressive thing about it was that first decision to get a bike and start riding it; it’s a scary thing to do but you took that step and look where you are now because of that one brave decision.

  • I love Dr. Now. He is very caring and concerned with every patient. I hope he keeps practicing a long time. GOD bless you Dr. Now.

  • What do you think of lost lots of weight using Custokebon Secrets? I notice a lot of people keep on talking about Custokebon Secrets.

  • Guys. lost a ton of weight doesn’t need to be hard (I used to feel it did). I will give you some advice right now. Look for a popular weight loss diet plan called Custokebon Secrets (search on google). Thanks to it I have lost crazy amounts of fat. I should not even be talking about it cause I don’t really want lots of other guys out there running the same game but whatever. I’m just simply in a great mood right now and so I will share the wealth haha.

  • Hello! Thank you for this helpful video. By the way, I notice a lot of people keep on talking about Custokebon Secrets (do a google search), but I’m not sure if it is really good. Have you ever tried Custokebon Secrets? I have heard many amazing things about it and my buddy lost crazy amounts of weight with it, but she refuses to tell me:(

  • I just sent this link to my cardiologist. I will be seeing him next week. It should be interesting since he already knows that my father worked for Pfizer when Lipitor was developed. My doctor knows I know the inside scoop and will not try to push statins on me. He is still amazed by my ability to water fast for 30 days with no problems. I told him fasting and OMAD were key to my 105 weight loss. I only go to see him for a CAC test.

  • Look, to tell you the truth I’m 16 years old I make bicycles and I ride a bike the whole day and I can say that for real you can lose weight with it

  • Should people who are riding to loose weight worry about efficiency/aero? Part of me thinks a heavy bike with baggy clothes could be a good thing it’s cheaper and it helps you burn more calories. At the same time, however, efficiency makes riding more fun, thus making weight-loss focused riders more likely to stick with it. Any thoughts?

  • Thank you! Dr. Mason, I hope many people can see this video and realize that the food they are eating especially high carbs and sugary food is not good for our health which we follow for decades. What a biased food pyramid.

  • I just bought a road bike to do exactly that:)
Cycling always helped me to maintain my wight in my youth. That was my ticket for “eat whatever you want”.
Now, 10 years later, I have to lose 35 kg (at least) more like 40kg.
Cycling will bring me there again.

  • Any one tested out the Custokebon Secrets (look on google search engine)? We have noticed many awesome things about this popular diet plan.

  • My HDL presently is 1.8 so according to this I’m in good shape. However my LP(a) is high (817 mg/L). Is there anyone here who knows if the high HDL is still protective in spite of the LP(a) level?

  • This still surprise me, how lot of people do not know about Custokebon Secrets, although many people get great result because of it. Thanks to my cooworker who told me about Custokebon Secrets, I’ve lost tons of weight with it without starving myself.

  • This doesn’t have anything to do with this video but how the fuck can’t people live without soda. Like people who drink one or two a day I’m like???? I have a couple sips and I have a sugar headache and I don’t have another one for months. I’d rather eat my calories than drink them (I do like smoothies and occasionally a milkshake tho) tea is the only thing I drink like I drink water and I’m not talking Snapple I’m talking a teabag water and a slice of lemon bro.

  • it is fun and interesting for me it works the other way around. I get fat by cycling on the bike, almost every day for last 6 months I ride 40-50 miles and gained 7 kg:))))

  • This is an excellent video. Amalgamates much of what Ivor Cummings talks about together with David Feldman, plus Dr Ford Brewer and really does enhance understanding. Thanks Dr Mason!

  • A follow-up video is required:). Maybe break things down for non-medical people.
I also want to ask a few questions:

    1) How can we repair the damaged blood vessels?
    2) What about Omega-6? You’ve started to say something about it and never finished.
    3) Keto is around 5-10% carbs. If someone cannot go full keto, where do we start to see improvement on a low carb diet? Basically, what is the macro count that starts to show improvement?

    Thank you,

  • 3 years ago I lost 4.5 stone in 10months by cutting out all the crap I used to eat, crisps, cakes, biscuits, chocolate, bread, pizzas, ate smaller dinners, cut out drinking and got a road bike, unfortunately I’ve put just over 3 stone back on in the last 12 months and it’s all gone on my stomach as I lost all motivation to get out on the bike or the turbo and started eating the wrong foods again. I used to go for a 20 mile ride every day or spend an hour or so on the turbo if the weather was naff after work but now after 10 or so hours at work all I want to do is sit down. Anyone got any tips on how to get motivated to get out on the bike again or even the turbo, i did go up the gym a few times but can’t stand it. I would rather be out in the fresh air but i just can’t seem to get motivated to, even though I look pregnant and growing pair of tits, and not the good kind.

  • How to lose weight by three guys who have the body fat of a chicken wing!!!! Lol. I love the tips though…. I need to lose some weight.

  • I was watching this video while drinking my strong Colombian coffee and this turned into in a soft British cup of tea..Greetings from Colombia south America..

  • Oh, come on man… “Extreme… HUGE rider… 90kg”. 90kg is my rather unrealistic “get down to” target, you insensitive clod!:) Jokes aside, you guys are GREAT, thank you for wonderful videos, I learned a lot about cycling from you and managed to put a lot of it to good use, improving my performance and my control of the bike.

  • I was watching this video drinking my strong Colombian coffee and this turned into a soft British te… Cycling is awesome..Greetings from Colombia south America..

  • Oh! So that’s what I was doing wrong. Thank you guys! Really appreciate it. Will start doing this asap.

One more thing. Is it fine to use Pocari Sweat when biking compared to Gatorade? Personally, I feel that I sweat more with Pocari Sweat rather than Gatorade during bike trips. Any insights on that?

  • I feel much better now. After I did low carb diet (Keto diet wanna be) and intermittent fasting for 6 months and I did my last blood blood test and learned that my LDL was 20 points higher than the blood test prior to that test. My triglycerides is still low. After watching this video, I am more confident in keep going on my keto (or low carb journey)

  • I actually gained a bit of weight when I first started cycling my appetite was nuts after doing a 40 km ride and I think my legs were getting bigger. That has curbed off though, about 10 weeks in, as my appetite has leveled off, and now I seem to be dropping a bit of weight. My legs are noticeably stronger and waist is definitely smaller.

  • I just bought a bike I want to be able to do what you are doing but it’s even hard for be able to learn how to ride having hard time turning starting

  • Well done! Cycling provides so much health and psychological benefits. Thanks for sharing your experience. Hope it will inspire many more people! ‍♂️

  • I was cycling and not losing weight. I then did Noom and kept cycling. Weight has just fallen off. 20kg+ lighter I can do climbs and distances that killed me before almost effortlessly.

  • Will this exercise help me lose belly fat? I’ve already lost weight now I just want to lose the fat around my belly I’ve been using this bike for 21 min some days but I don’t know if this exercise is the best to lose fat in my belly area any help would be appreciated..?

  • You can let this guy tell you what you want to hear or you can read some peer reviewed scientific articles:

  • That’s a bad ratio TC/HDL is 340/66 = 5.1 In this case it doesn’t matter that his triglycerides are lowish he is at high risk. The famous example is Jim Fixx a runner who at age 54 had 3 occluded arteries his TC was 254, HDL: 73. TG/HDL is confounded. You can have an ideal value and still have extensive disease. Refer to the Cleveland clinic studies and Honalulu Heart study https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11993305

  • Dr Paul Mason! Could I ask you what you make of my cholesterol? I recently had the Lipid Subfractions test done (paid out of my own pocket) when I heard you and some others talking about it. My total cholesterol has been higher for the past few years but I have also been pregnant and breastfeeding for the last 5 years (I’ve had 3 babies and c-sections in that time also). I ended up with gestational diabetes with my 3rd. I wasn’t tested during my second pregnancy but suspect I may have been prediabetic as in this postpartum period (now 6 months postpartum) I haven’t really been able to reintroduce many carbs (sticking with low carb) because it seems to spike my blood sugar more than what looks good. I did a follow up GTT and had okay results for the fasting and 2h but spiked to 12.1mmol at the one hour. I had my first HbA1c a few weeks ago but because I have been eating low carb, I suspect it too would be higher if I had resumed my usual diet. The result was 5.3%.
Anyway, back to my cholesterol: Total 8.43 mmol /L; Triglycerides 0.7 mmol/L; HDL 2.80 mmol. The Trigs/ HDL were looking pretty good despite the total, but then the subfractions: Total LDL 5.24 mmol/L LDL 1 2.06 mmol; LDL 2 1.35 mmol and LDL 3 0.31mmol and LDL 4 0.05 mmol. Both LDL 3 and 4 are over the recommended levels of 0.15 and 0.01 respectively. What should I do in this case? Stick with low carb eating for the rest of my life so I don’t allow this sdLDL to increase or my blood sugar to become T2 diabetic? Will that just keep me in a safe zone with a bit of sdLDL? I also had a C-Reactive Protein test which came back a bit elevated 5.4 mg/L (not sure though if it’s related to the sdLDL or whether I was at the tail end of a virus and it picked that up.) Should I just test everything again in another year or sooner? I’ve been offered statins from before I took the lipid subfractions test but my current GP wasn’t sure what to make of the lipid subfraction results and I wasn’t keen on quitting breastfeeding to take a statin… Can low carb help rid the body of sdLDL or does it just help prevent more LDL from being oxidised?

  • I’m 95ish kg I ride a 25ish kg bike loaded with 30ish kg of tools every day… Still as fat as I started this routine 3 years ago…

  • When are doctors gonna be trained to not put people on cholesterol medication but to promote going on a Keto diet??? Will the people forever lose to Pharma lobbying?

  • It’s still astonish me just how many people don’t know about Custokebon Secrets although many people with it. Thanks to my friend who told me about it. I’ve lost tons of fat.

  • I’m 19 and keto helped me with my eating disorder, my weight is now stable!! I don’t crave carbs, no resistence for carbs (I’m not eyeing carbs and wishing I’d want to eat it, it just doesnt look like real food, and cakes kinda of look more like a piece of art, I find it weird how people eat this stuff now) and my energy levels are awesome the only thing I do is take electrolyte salts, I have things like berries, nuts, dairy, variety of vegetables, meat and sometimes hummus, mayo or low sugar baked beans. Started 5 months ago, Best decision of my life! They thought I’d get ketoacidosis but that happens with high insulin, I tried to explain to a practitioner but she was like ‘nah your liver is going to get damaged you’ll have dangerous amount of ketones’ I wanted to believe her but it just didnt add up… keto is not ketoacidosis at all! Has my liver packed in yet, have I developed hypoglycemia?? I don’t think so, there’s no signs I love researching about this stuff and watching debunking videos. Thanks for making this

  • Imagine that there is a pub with a pint of cool beer served by a gorgeous bar tender waiting at the end of the climb. But it is actually a water tap.

  • Te felicito e estado viendo tus vídeos y mi inglés es de un 50% me da gusto saber que eres una historia de vida, fortaleza y coraje de estar mejor.
    Saludos desde México

  • Still find this confusing with a diet. People saying you can be in a low metabolism state and it’s tricky loosing the last few lbs. I want to loose the last Stone. Do I do 5 days a week on the bike and keep calories to around 1500 a day.
    Good video.

  • I used to work in a bicycle shop and I met different people that their health, weight and life changed thanks to cycling, including an Iraq war veteran. It was a priviledge to witness such big transformation and that in a way, I helped a little bit…

  • This video is so timely. I’m 150kg+ and have reached a point where its either i do something now to become more active and lose weight or i may not live see my daughter grow up. I’m glad to say that I bought a bike last week and have been on three rides so far. I know this journey is not going to be easy, but your story has inspired me that i can do this. Thank you so much for sharing.

  • Can i lose eeight even im not sweating alot because of air… While cycling i dont sweat too much because of air…. can i lose weight?

  • As expert, I do believe Custokebon Secrets is great way to lost a ton of weight. Why not give it a chance? maybe it’ll work for you too.

  • https://www.acumencarts.com/product/4-in-1-multifunction-bike-light/ What do you have to say about this product, any advise or recommendation?

  • Thanks for the video, so i’ve been a boxer, it’s been 2 years since then i got an online job and i gained around 50kg now im around 125kg maybe more, i really don’t have time to go out through the day and go to the gym like i used to, i downloaded an app, doing pushups, it’s hard, i used to do them easy and a lot of them, now i cant hit 10, my arms are gone, so is following that plan, that has some jumping jacks, pushups, and riding that bike, will this help me lose a lot of weight ( over a long period of course) if i keep it up and just control how much calories i intake?

  • I have lost 20 kilos (45 pounds) in 4 months. As soon as the pandemic started I turned to biking to manage my stress. I started riding 32 kilometers every day (6am) on my mountain bike but on a paved road, I was still stressed so I included an afternoon ride (6pm) also for 32k. I ride a total of 64k six days a week and after losing 20 kilos (45 pounds) I’m 5 kilos (11 pounds) away from my target optimal weight. With a sugar-less diet, patience and a twinkle of OCD:) I have managed to keep the riding regimen and loving it.

  • Yes cycling ‍♀️ does work..i lost 1 and half kg in 12 days ride and i was so happy and got more confidence and courage to ride more and still am continuing it its been 16/17 days now can’t wait to see more good results in coming days

  • I reviewed my last blood test (2 years ago) (euro unites)

    Tot chol: 4.1
    LDL: 2.5
    HDL: 1.45
    Trig 0.5

    Tot chol/HDL = 2.8
    Trig/HDL=0.35

Going to keep eatning what I’m eating.

  • I’m 52 and was keto but now transitioned to full carnivore 3 weeks ago and today blood pressure 109/59 heart rate 48bpm. Blood glucose 86 mg/dL. Total cholesterol 327. HDL 57. LDL 259… so that leaves 11 “unaccounted” for. Triglycerides are 59. So my TGL/HDL is 1.04 which by the graph puts it firmly in Pattern A?? Good god….my doctor would have a tartan hairy fit if she knew my “average” daily diet was 4 large butter fried organic eggs, 6 rashers of fatty streaky bacon, a pound of (12%) beef mince/ground beef made into burgers, half pound of grilled Haloumi cheese and a butter fried half pound Rib-eye….loads of salt and ACV too…. never felt better or stronger…!!!

  • Absolutely excellent! Great description of so many processes I have been trying to understand, but which have not been explained by many so called ‘experts’ and it now all makes sense to a layman like me.

  • I have a question.
I have a fatty lower body. They do not look good with my thin arms/upper body. I’m worried if biking can make my lower body bulk especially the calves or does it help with burning the fats?

  • This only happens in the USA. What is wrong with these people? America does not have a public health system, so who pays for the medical treatment? Clearly these people can’t work, and the snotty attitude of these great big fat pigs, spare me the food addiction, water retention excused. They are lazy, slovenly disgusting people

  • It helps because it’s fun and versatile a nice bike can keep u entertained and fit u can change gears and make it harder to pedal or if u wanna just cruise peacefully u can coast and switch to a lower gear and it’s just very nice if u wanna lose weight I promise getting a nice bike and drinking plenty of water and slowly improving ur diet u will see results in how u feel and ur stomach I rode my bike everyday about maybe 2-4 miles a day for 2 months and lost 35 lbs along with healthier eating habits ofcourse I promise u will love it

  • Hey that was awesome transformation, but how did you increase your stamina, I get tired and really find it difficult going uphill, how do improve on that

  • The human body just wasn’t meant to be in this condition. The human soul wasn’t meant to be trapped in such a body. Dr. Now continues to be these people’s only hope for a better life.

  • I have started cycling. I have bought a fixed gear bike. My weight is 85kg and I cycle around 15km 4 days a week on flat plains at average speed of 16.5 km per hour. Will this be enough for me to reduce my weight by atleast 5 kg in 2 months?

  • Hi.. Halo Katie hw r u.. Hope everythings fine at ur end in dis PANDEMIC situation..

  • early in the morning, it’s be better to start our day with Excercise which helps in handling our emotions like laziness, fear etc. So that the entire day we will be feeling the same.

  • Drinking a big glass of water before eating a meal is not good advice especially for an athlete where digesting the nutrient of your meal is crucial to staying healthy and fit. You do not want to dliute your stomach acids by drinking loads and loads of plain water before eating a meal.

  • Stopped having pizzas and adding sugar to coffee for straight 14weeks. No more diet change/ exercise (regular 325steps / day). Lost 14.5kg in straight 14week.

  • I cycle to grocery stores, and when going to some errands.. building my endurance until i can go to work on a bike.. no need to set a time when exercising, just go to your regular point a to b and your good. Make use of it as a transportation

  • This isn’t true if you consider the time under tension witch is pretty much how much of that time your pushing your muscles and most people just do three pedals then just stroll

  • I recently bought a bike for commuting to work basically, but I find it fun, cheering me up after hard day, it also cleans up my mind and it is great to exercise. Besides, I also need to lose weight and I think bike helps me in doing that. I discovered activity I like the most so far.

  • got my wife a colnago,,lol,,lets see if she goes for it i have shown her your vid,,,she gave me a slap and said im not as fat as that you cheeky beeeeeeeep..lol.but i think you inspired her…

  • This is exactly the same situation for my recent blood test lipid result, after practicing 3 months of keto diet cum intermittent fasting.

Ironically my physical stamina never been so good in my life!

  • I am cykling everyday for 3 hours + I get like 15$ per hour while cykling coz I am delivering foods from restaurants to people with my cykel

  • What kind of results would I expect to get from a recumbent exercise bike, versus the upright bike that you are demonstrating on in the video?
