Low intensity training is better for most and I would also suggest some VR game where you can go for walks on a treadmill (Elder Scrolls) or walk in place through the countryside for a couple miles in the evenings. It would be great for people living in congested areas prone to crime or even elder people that are still moble but are not able to go far from home.

  • You should try that challenge again, but with BOX VR, lost about 1.000 calories after 15 minutes of playing, I split it up in 2x 14 minutes because I was completely exhausted after 7mins, and could barely move

  • I would recommend initially for first two weeks do for 10 seconds when it says 15, and 15 seconds when it says 20 seconds. I started like this now able to do fully as per the reps in this video. I find it beneficial.

  • The best thing with vr is that it is ACTUALLY FUN unlike the gym which is boring and usually crowded but in vr we gamers can continue being unsocial and lose weight bc gamers are obviously fat… ye just wanted to put that out there!

  • Lost 5kg, than started to move up with weight but slimed down (because of muscle weight), but still not obese.
    My experience: You need weight cuffs. Include boxing in VR (not just beat saber) and you are on it…just make 1 day break per week, but play for at least 1 hour, better two hours/day..
    Would even get thinner with a good diet, but my skin needs a break to going back to normal. Even my collegues realized that I got thinner.
    Include riding bike up the mountain, for doing something with the legs…and you burn calories like you go to the fitness center.
    And its more fun:)

  • This is cool and I plan to put VR into my weight loss regime, but if someone is serious about losing weight then most of their efforts should be put into eating correctly. Waving your hands around in VR is only going to have a minimal effect if your diet is messed up. Also whilst I get why the gym might seem like “hard work” using weights will help you build muscle. Rebuiling muscles burns more calories at rest than normal muscles even when you aren’t literally working out you are benefiting from it.

  • I’ve been wondering this same thing! Last night I did an hour and 20 minutes in Beat Saber with my Apple watch set to “Other” in the fitness app. I was able to burn upwards 500 calories, build up a very respectable sweat and had a blast. At best my heart was 160 which is what it generally is when I’m doing indoor bike pretty hard. I plan to keep this up a few times a week.

Seriously, that program has transformed my entire life.     I ate health af for a month and lost 30 ibs. BUT doing the tread for four days lead to me so much soreness bcs it was a constant four days no break inbetween. I do not recommend that LOL
    But for the quest; it will add more of a variety and hopefully help me lose even more weight.

  • A less obvious benefit to VR over the gym that did lightly touch on when you mentioned not going out of the house. After I went to the gym, I would end up stopping at Starbucks or B.K. for a high calorie breakfast (justified by time limitations and, hey, I just worked out). But a morning of VR makes me hungry, I walk into the kitchen to cook something that is actually good food.

  • This works hands down. If you have diet issues you may need to address those as well but this is a legit form of cardio. If you have a high metabolism like me this is all you need. Been playing non stop 4 days since I got my WMR and I have shed 10 pounds already. I wasn’t doing any workout for almost this whole year due to an injury and being flat out lazy and went from 140lbs 150lbs. Within 4 days Im down to 140 again. Im 5 ‘7 by the way and 135 -140lbs has been the norm my whole life. Working out to me is work and I find reasons not to go but with VR I want to play all day. Amazing. I am addicted to this thing. Going to get some wrist weights nest and start building some muscle.

  • almost 5 pounds, shit depending on the time of day I can nearly swing that much weight difference, like say if one weigh was after a big meal and the next weigh was after a trip to the restroom. I’m not even kidding, I tracked my weight for a while every couple days for a few weeks and I fluctuated more then 5 pounds despite not changing anything in my diet and not changing the amount of exercising (or lack of it) I did. that said to properly judge weight loss you need weekly weigh ins and you need to not change any other aspect of your life, we have no evidence of whether that 5 pounds was in your normal fluctuation or if it was normal fluctuation minus diet change and now we have no clue how much could actually be attributed to the VR workout sessions

  • Honestly, pair this with a 30 min run and you’ll have a really solid weight-loss system. Replace that run with some bodyweight work when you’ve lost the fat and it’d be a pretty good workout for getting toned.

  • You should just cut out junk food and sodas and just go for a walk everyday before/after dinner…I lost 43 pounds in a year or less just doing that-I drank a LOT more water, ate salads for lunch and tried to eat breakfast as much as possible…Went from 230 lbs or so down to 187, which was actually too thin at 6’2′”…But my energy level was through the roof..I literally was bored because I didn’t have enough going on to tire me out…And I had a very physical job…But instead of leaving work exhausted, I’d leave work with energy to spare…I’d also quit smoking after 28 years and that helped tremendously with my stamina…I’ve never been “fat” per se, just “fluffy” as my ex would say…BUT, 4 years later, I am smoking again and back up to 230 pounds, but I’m “mostly” ok with it…Of course I’m also 51, so I’m not out chasing women all the time anymore:)
