  • Starvation mode isn’t near as easy to get into as people would have you believe. FAKE NEWS! The reason people regain during/after weight loss is 1.) chronic deprivation or 2.) your BMR slows the smaller you get, so it’s not necessarily that your metabolism is slowing, it’s more to do with not needing as many calories. This is why people promote lifestyle changes. If you reach your goal weight, and return to the crap you ate before your weight loss, you’ll obviously return to that original weight. During my own weight loss journey of 140 pounds I made it a point to eat many kinds of foods. It was an evolutionary thing, really. Keto -> plant based -> carnivore -> high carb -> moderation and variety = I naturally go +/ 5 or so pounds during the year, but no massive regain. I just don’t like to eat fast food anymore, I like ice cream and cookies but won’t catch me snacking on cakes and pastries daily anymore, and I definitely don’t drink my calories.

  • I’ve seen this touched on in the comments already, and I think people have brought up the valid point that there is a difference between unsustainable calorie restriction versus maintaining a sustainable caloric deficit.
    It’s unsustainable to live off of <1000 calories/day, so if your weight loss plan relies upon that kind of extreme caloric restriction, eventually you're going to stop. By constrast, if you're eating 2500 calories a day but then realize you need to eat closer to 2300/day in order to reach/maintain your optimum weight range, that is probably sustainable.
    I’ve been maintaining a caloric deficit for 9 mos or so, and personally a combination of knowing my ideal caloric limit + not sweating it when I eat more sometimes + not worrying about tracking my calories 100% perfectly has allowed me to lose 25-30 lbs so far without feeling depressed or confined by dietary limitations. I’m perfectly happy eating this way indefinitely.
    I hope over time my developing sense of portion size + my growing ability to select healthier, more satiating foods will allow me to maintain a healthy weight without as much number crunching, but calorie counting is helping me reach that long-term goal of a more intuitive eating style while also meeting my shorter-term health needs.

  • Just eat when you’re hungry. If i have a party or a marriage, events etc., I end up eating a lot most of the time, even bingeing, but then, when i come back home, I don’t feel the REAL urge to eat even for 1-2, once even 3 days. I just wait until I’m very hungry, I exercise and then i consume my meal very carefully and try to get the most of the nutrients. Your body knows what it wants, so just listen to it!

  • A note to you all, restricting calories is bad, when you go back to your regular diet, your metabolism is slower than when you started!

    Either intermittent diet, exercise, watch your sugar intake, or go keto (provided it’s for your body type)

  • There are many things you advocate that I agree with, but saying calorie restriction is dangerous or at beast ineffective is a terrible blanket statement. Calorie restriction is the only way to actually lose weight, whether you achieve this by increasing your energy expenditure or eating fewer calories than you usually do. What is dangerous is a drastic reduction in calories consumed, but not a calorie deficit in and of itself. The deficit simply needs to be small and evolve with your changing exercice routine (because you should move no matter what you want to achieve, as it is essential for human health). Yes, it will take time, but that’s how it works. Of course, if you put on muscle, you might not feel like you’re restricting in any way because your resting energy expenditure will be higher, which you won’t even notice!
    The other thing I don’t agree with is the breakfast statement. If by it you mean that your first meal of the day should fuel you properly and make you feel satiated for several hours, yes, absolutely, but if you mean the general meal we eat in the morning, then no, it is not absolutely necessary (unless you’re a child, going to school, or in some other specific instances). Healthy individuals don’t need to eat in the morning if they’re not hungry for several hours after waking up. If you are hungry, eat, and obiously, something you like and that will make you feel satiated for a while, but if you’re not hungry, don’t eat! Breakfast in the common, traditional sense is not essential.

Just because someone is not diagnosed with celiac doesn’t mean they should be ingesting gluten. And the FDA grading of eggs has nothing to do with how the Chickens are kept, Fed and the antibiotics they are given.

  • I remember when I was 16 I lost 12 pounds in 2 weeks by just eating broccoli and chicken and attending Volleyball practice 5/7 days then sleeping almost the other portion of days, granted my grades took a hit but I lost weight fast and got faster and stronger in a short amount of time

  • Lmao at showing the marathon runner as a “clear indicator that running is bad”. Running is far from bad. If you’re quite overweight, sure, it can be problematic for joints and tendons that support you. But the same applies for weight lifting. Stress is also applied to tendons, just in different areas than running. If you overdo something, anything, you’ll have bad side effects. This goes for both running, weight lifting and other things like sitting behind the bloody computer.

  • Every video encourages people to gain muscle to lose fat. I want to lose muscle because I got more muscles than I need. I gained 20 pounds in 10 years of not exercising regularly. Since I started exercising again 3 months ago, I went from a medium down to almost a small size. I still look bulky and not like I used to look with 20 pounds less. I have not dropped a single pounds. I really want to lose some muscle. Probably not what every fitness videos recommended.

  • Wrong! Insulin is the biggest factor for weight gain. Clearly not all calories, depending on the food, are metabolized the same.

    Do the following:
    Reduce refined carbs and sugar.
    Increase protein (mostly from real meat and NOT protein shakes), fats (again not unnatural crap that’s man made), green vegetables and replace sugary beverages with water.

    The aforementioned with moderate exercise will decrease food cravings and the body fat will disappear I guarantee it! ��

  • White eggs are a little bit better for the environment, not much, just a bit.
    Chickens laying white eggs live a bit longer (up to 2 months) and they use little less food. They are a little bit more efficient in converting food to eggs.
    And please USA, stop washing your eggs. You only wash off the natural protection to diseases. That’s the reason your supermarkets sell eggs from the fridge and in the EU eggs do not have to be cooled. In the EU eggs are only brushed, saving the natural protection. Once in a while you’ll find a little bit of poo on the outside or an occasional feather as a bonus.

  • How can you even “estimate” how many calories you’ve eaten? I ate chicken breast 5 days out of 7 for the last 2 months for the bulk of my protein intake but I still couldn’t even ballpark how many calories of it I’ve eaten unless I used a scale preparing it. Smaller plates? Just encourages you to go for seconds, since the plate is small anyway, and you end up eating more because two small plates can fit more food than a large plate. I call BS on that study…

    These are not weight loss mistakes, these are moronic preconceptions about what weight loss should be about, and I think I am allowed this statement since I successfully dropped 70 pounds like a bad habit, which it really was. A bad habit of eating not even necessarily bad things, but definitely the wrong way.

  • Do not count calories, eat 3 meals no snacking, cut sugar and grains, 1 fruit a day, vegetables with every meal (even breakfast). Corn is a grain. It’s about a life change not a fad diet.

  • I would like to make a comment on the cardio/exercise point. The secret here is finding an exercise that you enjoy. If you don’t enjoy the exercise you will eventually (sooner than later) stop altogether. Should come as no surprise that this means most people shouldn’t go out and join a gym. The reason gyms are packed full on January 2nd and ghost towns by February is people generally don’t enjoy them and/or see them as too much of a hassle. Anyway, find an exercise you enjoy even if it is something as simple as walking. Diet might be more important for overall weight loss, but exercise is absolutely key (along with a good diet) to maintaining a healthy weight.

    #1 Metrics. Know how many calories you are eating. You said this, I know, but it bears repeating.
    #2 Dont eat when you are hungry. If you are craving you make poor choices. Eat when you are NOT hungry. Stay full of low calorie foods and lots of veggies.
    #3 Dont diet! Just skip the diet and go to the end where you are at the weight you want. Use a calculator to determine the number of calories you need at that weight and eat that much. If you cannot accomplish that there is no point in dieting, you will gain it all back. If you can accomplish it, do it, and your body will follow you to the promised land in time, I assure you.
    #4 When you eat something fattening, portion it into two parts. Wait 5 minutes between servings. You will find part of the time 5 minutes later you no longer feel a craving for the second half. I call this putting “temporal topping” on your food.

  • You only torture yourself with healthy food
    “I’m dieting, I cannot eat that. Ugh,” you think? If you torture yourself too much and think about what you are NOT allowed to eat, the diet will not be a success either. If you want some chocolate, you do not need to swallow a whole bar, but, here and there, a piece of dark chocolate is even healthy. Enjoyment is allowed in moderation and is a good precaution against sudden food cravings and the yo-yo effect.

I eat paratha, icecream or rice or potatoes rarely like once in 4 to 5 months

  • Honestly, when it comes to dieting… I hate it. I hate short term changes, I’d rather have life-long changes. When I wanted to lose weight, I cut out the typical unhealthy things (processed sugars, excessive carbs, soda), started trying different exercise routines, drinking more water, and trying to make better decisions for my life in general, as well as my health. Oh yeah, and strength training, especially HIIT, which burns a lot of calories fast. And… going slow. I lost 30 pounds in 3 months, and felt like crap, so I’d recommend going slow with your changes, including your weight loss. Otherwise, your body freaks out, though it depends on you.

  • Just eat healthy and count calories or listen to your body,add vegetables, avoid these stupid fast-food, and make home made food to know exactly what you eat, start Walking instead of taking the bus or the car, these diets are useless and stressing, just eat properly, dont eat 1 meal a day or skip 2 days and starve yourself, dont negate carbs and lose those sweet pastas that you adore,juste be moderate

    At the end of the day losing weigh is calories in and calories out,you dont have to supress 90% of the food because “that diet told me to and it said it work”, my diet consist of a lot of carbs and protein(with a great amount of vegetables) i fucking love cereals and sugar, im eating whenever i want (exception for my work out since eating 3 hour before is better than just before), and im at a <8% body fat, despite the fact that for results like that "experts" and coaches says you have to cut carbs

    All of this means relatively nothing,if youre consuming more calories than what youre eating,all this sugar,this fat,will be absorbed to regenerate your body and muscle,it wont become fat

    TL;DR: fuck those restrictive diet and just eat without abusing it( plus count calories and macro nutriments,it helps a lot)
