Welcome to, I’m Brad Gouthro from LiveLeanTV.com. On today’s episode, I’m sharing 3 different ways that you can create a calorie deficit to lose weight and the best way to increase G-Flux. I’m sure G-Flux is a new term to many of you so I explain how to do it and it’s sustainable benefits towards the end of this video.. What is a Calorie Deficit? First off, you may be wondering what do I mean when I say calorie deficit. Well you’ve probably heard the saying, “calories in, calories out”. This simply means, to lose weight, you typically need to be in a calorie deficit. You’re in a calorie deficit when your body burns more energy than you consume via food.. But did you know there are different ways to create this caloric deficit? The word is thermodynamics, which in simple terms, refers to burning more calories than you consume.. Calorie Deficit Strategy A: Eat Less.. Eat 500 calories less then he burns in a typical day without working out. Example: Total calories burned throughout the day: 1,900. Total calorie intake available from food: 1,400. Caloric deficit: -500 calories. Calorie Deficit Strategy B: Eat Less. Walk on Treadmill for 60 Minutes.. Willy wears his activity tracker and walks on the treadmill for 60 minutes to see how many calories the treadmill burns. Example: Total calories burned throughout the day: 2,300 (1,900 + 400 calories from cardio). Total calorie intake available from food: 1,800 (an extra 400 calories vs. not working out). Caloric deficit: -500 calories. Calorie Deficit Strategy C: Eat Less. Follow an Afterburn Style Workout Program.. Total calories burned throughout the day: 2,550 (1900 + 650 calories from the workout). Total calorie intake available from food: 2,050. Deficit: -500 calories. It’s pretty obvious which of these 3 ways is not only the most healthy way but also the most sustainable way to create a calorie deficit and lose weight.. The Winning Calorie Deficit Strategy Is: The Answer: C. If sustainable weight loss was just a numbers game, all three calorie deficit strategies would be equal.. What is G-Flux? The best way to create a healthy calorie deficit is by increasing your G-Flux.. This is a simple equation: Eat more + Exercise more to still be in a deficit = Losing more (while still being strong and healthy). When you exercise, you increase your metabolism, you burn calories and you elevate the amount of fat burning enzymes in your body.. You’re also keeping your body happy by feeding it an adequate amount of calories, thus keeping it from going into fat survival storage mode, and once again you’re increasing your metabolism.. Win-win! The right amount of exercise increases your metabolism.. The right amount of eating increases your metabolism.. The trick is to exercise more, so you can eat more, while still remaining in a caloric deficit.. That’s G-Flux.. So stop starving yourself and start exercising more.. Just don’t go overboard with too much exercise.. WANT MORE DAILY TIPS TO LIVE LEAN?: Subscribe Here! http://bit.ly/SubLiveLeanTV. Check Out Our Top Videos! http://bit.ly/LiveLeanTVTopVideos. So off the bat, one advantage of Water Fasting becomes clear, that’s the speed. For example, assuming a consistent daily burn of 2500, in just 72 hours You’ll have burnt 7500 calories. This same level of weight loss would have taken the person on the cutting diet 15 days. This speed advantage has been confirmed by research studies,in one review researchers remarked on the significant amounts lost over short durations. For example in one study men fasted on and off over two weeks, and by the end had lost 3% of their bodyweight, in another study women lost 4% after 3 weeks of on and off fasting.. Another advantage to water fasting is, after the fast is complete, the person fasting doesn’t need to continue to eat below what their daily burn. Remember, they are looking at the big picture, as long as they are in say a weekly calorie deficit, there may be days within that week that they eat in a slight surplus, unlike the daily calorie restriction dieters whose bodies remain in a deficit day after day.. So while water fasting has the potential for faster fat loss, including occasional daily surpluses has actually resulted in studies showing more participants stick with these periodic water fasting diets, and as a result, they are able to lose more weight since they don’t quit.. Leading up to your water fast it’s a good idea to stay well hydrated, including adequate fiber in your diet beforehand is also recommended to help prevent constipation.. As the 16 hour mark approaches though, glycogen stores are nearing depletion, as this happens blood glucose and insulin levels fall. Hunger signals reach their highest point here, and you may even feel like you have difficulty concentrating. In my opinion this 16-28 hour period is the hardest part of any fast, contrary to what many would assume though, from here everything actually gets better.. See while you might be feeling frustrated and hungry, your body is implementing an amazing metabolic shift. Since insulin has fallen, fat cells begin releasing free fatty acids back into the bloodstream, Its during this 16-28 hours period that cells like your muscles shift over to burning this fat for fuel.. During the first 5 days of a fast subjects tend to lose weight far more rapidly than they do later on. One study for example saw a subject lose an average of.9kg over the first 5 days of his fast, while the days afterwards averaged about.3 kgs.. The enhanced initial weight loss is caused not by excess fat being burned, but by the body’s switch to burning fat and ketosis itself. The switch causes the body to drop large amounts of sodium, since sodium is one of the main electrolytes used to hold water in our bodies, the body also begins dropping water, leading to this extra weight loss.. At this stage Water Fasters might also begin notice a mental shift, clinicians have noted in subjects increased levels of alertness, mood improvement, a subjective feeling of well-being and even occasionally euphoria.. The increases in energy and focus reported by Water fasters may stem from increased levels of norepinephrine, a catecholamine which operates as a hormone and stimulatory neurotransmitter in the body. In normal subjects levels are usually near 0 during sleep, and reach their highest levels during the fight or flight response.. As far as insulin goes, I’ve yet to see a study that shows black coffee or unsweetened herbal tea could cause insulin to rise. In fact one analysis linked coffee consumption to lower levels of fasting insulin.. While fasting activates several pathways which could in theory have an effect on this, the one you’ll hear the most about is Autophagy.
How to Fast. What if you decided to quit eating for an entire week? Would it be dangerous for your body? Nowadays, many people prefer to stick to periodical water fasting, so they don’t consume any food and drink apart from water.. Water fasting should last for no more than a couple of days, and you should consult with a doctor beforehand. Among its benefits are lower blood pressure, improved insulin and leptin sensitivity, lower cholesterol levels, and weight loss. The first and most important thing is not to jump into a long session of water fasting right away. Your first experience with it should last for about 2 days. As you plan your 7-day water fasting, try to pick a low-stress time in your life. Doing this during exam season or when you’re moving house isn’t the best time.. TIMESTAMPS. Music:. https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music. SUMMARY. -For the first 6 hours of your “no food” period, everything’s going to be just fine.. -After 6 hours, your body begins to starve since there’s not enough glucose in your blood.. -After 3 “no food” days, your brain goes to another extreme and starts to break down your body’s protein. This happens because proteins release amino acids, which can be converted into the glucose your body so desperately needs.. -After one “no food” week, your immune system becomes extremely weak because it isn’t receiving any vitamins or minerals.. -Starvation may lead to death after almost a month or up to 70 days.. -There’s one rule when it comes to water fasting: you don’t consume any food and drink apart from water. According to specialists, water fasting should last for no more than a couple of days, and a consultation with a doctor beforehand is obligatory.. -If you want to water fast because of the weight loss factor, you have another option: intermittent fasting. This means eating nothing (or just a few calories) for a certain period of time and then eating as usual for another period.. -The first and most important thing is not to jump into a long session of water fasting right away. Your first experience with it should last for about 2 days. Listen to your body carefully during your first water fasting.. -When you’re done with your fasting, you should break it slowly. Easily digested foods like soups, juices, pureed fruit, white rice, and mashed potatoes are the best products for your first 2 days.. How to fast for three days. My weight loss experiment.. I’ll show you the best way to lose 4 pounds in 3 short days. This comes down to losing almost a pound per day, which is awesome by any standard.. To do your first three-day fast, you will need some preparation. First and foremost is preparing your mind for the practice. Most people will have many fears about attempting a three-day long fast. I did. You have to become fat adapted. Do some research, and know the process and what to expect.. What is fat adapted? It’s when your metabolism has used its stores of glycogen as its main fuel source. Our bodies produce glycogen when we eat carbs, it burns quickly and when it is gone we become overcome with hunger and cravings. It will stop when you switch to using fat as fuel. It is true that your brain needs glycogen as a fuel but our liver is amazing. It will take the fat you eat (or your bodies fat and turn it into the chemicals needed to maintain homeostasis. It is very important we stick to a strict ketogenic diet for at least 2 or 3 weeks before you fast.. I found it very surprising that I was not hungry because my body was used to using fat as fuel so it naturally used my body fat when I stopped eating.. It is good to understand the basic principles of fasting, the various bodily reactions, and its benefits. Also, read up on the testimonials of those who have attempted long fasts and learn about their experiences. That will give you confidence.. A normal human body can go for weeks without food. Hence a three-day fast is not difficult. Once you start doing it, you will experience the great health benefits that accompany it. I hear crazy stories of people reversing diabetes and gaining control of their health. If you have a serious illness, consult your physician first before you attempt fasting. Those with certain contraindications like tuberculosis and other deficiency diseases should not take up long-term fasts. Also, pregnant women should avoid long-term fasts.. Also, after the 3 day fast, you need to slowly come back to regular eating habits. Hence you should plan for a total of 4 days for the complete process. Ideally. I started on Thursday and fasted into the weekend so I could be at home in case I became sleepy and couldn’t drive. This didn’t happen. In fact, I had MORE energy and was so clear-minded it took me back.. How to do a Three-day fast? In a three-day fast, you must drink only water, coffee or tea. No solid food or other liquids that contain nutrition (like fruit juice, milk, etc) are allowed. Simple pure mineral water is good. You can also use bone broth and salt to get needed minerals.. It is been said not to exercise while fasting. I can agree however, I did not follow that. I found I was very energized and could exercise.. Will you be super hungry? One may feel a sudden bout of hunger. To overcome it, just drink one or two glasses of water. Maybe lie down and take rest. The hunger should go away in a short time. If not, it may be a deficiency in potassium. Cream of tartar is a quick fix for this. Also, try an ounce of apple cider vinegar you get very hungry.. Give it a try! Let me know what worked for you in the comments. Keep it keto guys! Music. https://soundcloud.com/lakeyinspired/moving-on. Email: [email protected]
In this video, Sal introduces the best way to speed up your metabolism for fast fat loss. A fast metabolism will do wonders for your progress towards a better physique.. FREE GUIDES: https://www.mindpumpmedia.com/p/free-resources. Subscribe to Mind Pump TV here: http://bit.ly/mindpumptv. If you are trying to lose weight, you have to take in less calories then you burn. You CAN do manual labor to burn more calories but that takes a lot of work and a small meal can eliminate all the work that you have done. What you want to do is to speed up your Natural Basal Metabolic Rate.. The first thing you want to to is to not over-rely on cardio. When you do cardio, you send your body the signal to become efficient with calories, and that it doesn’t need strength but rather endurance. Your body tries to slow your metabolism down by reducing muscle mass and strength. This is the opposite of what you want to do to speed up your metabolism.. The next thing that you should do is to life weights. You need strength to speed up your metabolism. Muscle burns a lot of calories.. The most important thing is to consume enough calories. When you don’t feed your body much for long periods of time, your metabolism starts to slow down, so you can survive on less calories. Make sure to slowly increase calories overtime, you will find that you have a faster metabolism.. Doing all of these things can lead to a faster metabolism. For example, Sal is training a woman who would do 9 hours of cardio a week and only consumed 1200 calories. Through the methods explained in this video, she managed to raise her daily caloric intake to over 1800 calories a day, in just two months! Subscribe to Mind Pump TV https://goo.gl/h44uXg. Want to know the best diet to lose weight? Screw the next fad diet, just listen to this. Think of your diet as a bank account. When you’re in a calorie deficit, you only have a limited amount of calories to spend every day. So you want to invest your calories for your fat loss diet into foods that are going to bring you the best bang for your buck in terms of keeping you full and satisfied with less calories, as that’s what will be key in enabling you to stick to that calorie deficit with ease. When it comes to how to lose fat, it really is that simple. Now, as for the best diet to burn fat, here are 3 “rules” that you can stick to everyday when it comes to any fat loss meal plan that’ll enable you to get the most out of your limited amount of calories.. The first rule for a successful fat loss diet is to opt for low calorie density foods. How does it help? One, is that you’ll be intaking a higher volume of food for less calories, which activates the stretch receptors in your gut to enhance the fullness response. Second, a higher food volume also means more chewing is required and longer meal times, which both also enhance the fullness effect. And finally, low calorie density foods are often also quite high in fibre (e.g. fruits and veggies), which also seems to have an added effect on fullness because it slows digestion. Now, as for the best low calorie density foods, these are typically foods that are high in water and fibre.. Next, for your diet to burn fat, you want to keep an eye on your fat intake. Fats have the lowest impact on fullness when compared to carbs and protein, since high fat foods are often smaller in weight and volume yet pack over twice the amount of calories per gram as carbs or protein does. So, my recommendation is to aim to experiment with a relatively lower fat intake that’s at least meeting the minimum recommended fat intake everyday (0.25-0.5g/lb of bodyweight), and then allocate the rest of your calories more towards carbs and protein. Do experiment with this though as this will vary individually. But just make sure that for the fats you do intake everyday, be mindful of them and measure them whenever possible since these calorie dense foods can very quickly take you out of a calorie deficit which is what matters the most.. Lastly, when it comes to how to lose fat, you’ll want to limit liquid calories. Liquid calories have consistently been found to be less satiating than solid calories. Even in studies where the liquid calorie meal stretches the stomach out more than the solid meal does, the liquid meal still elicits a weaker fullness response than solid foods. Meaning that during a dieting phase it would be a good idea from a hunger management perspective to limit your intake of liquid calories. This means avoiding fruit juices, smoothies, and shakes, and instead opting for their whole food counterparts.. Here are the key takeaways that you’ll want to implement for the best diet to lose weight: 1) Swap higher calorie density foods for low calorie density foods that deliver a higher amount of volume & fibre for a fewer amount of calories. This will enable you to stay full and satisfied with less calories.. 2) Be mindful of your fat intake and try keeping it relatively low/moderate. Using these calories for carbs/protein in your fat loss meal plan instead can help with fullness.. 3) Limit liquid calories (smoothies, shakes, juices, etc.) when dieting. Solid foods generally provide a greater effect on fullness, and blunts hunger for longer.. All in all, guys, it’s vital that you setup your nutrition plan in a way that not only maximizes fat loss, but more importantly in a way that you will actually adhere to and enjoy sticking to everyday. As that’s the key to long term success, regardless of the dieting approach you choose to follow. And for a step-by-step program that does exactly that and not only show you what and how much to eat week after week, but also pairs this with a weekly workout plan so that you can burn off fat as efficiently as possible with science, just like countless of our members have done with their Built With Science programs, then simply take the analysis quiz to discover which science-based program would be best for you and where your body is currently at below:. https://builtwithscience.com. Read more: I lost 35 pounds in 6 months without going on a diet, and it taught me 7 lessons about eating for healthy fat loss. Over the past six months, I have cut my body fat nearly in half and maintained almost all of my muscle mass — it’s dropped ever so slightly, to 31.3 kilograms (69 pounds) from 31.8 kilograms (70.1 pounds). It takes 3-4 days for the blood vessels to grow into the fat grafts. During the new few days, the blood vessels begin to strengthen.
The extracellular matrix surrounding the fat graft takes another 2-3 weeks to reach enough strength to withstand minor stresses. This is why 3 weeks is the absolute earliest a patient can begin stressing the tissues. The researchers showed that during weight loss, 84 percent of the fat that is lost turns into carbon dioxide and leaves the body through the lungs, whereas the remaining 16 percent becomes water.

The first is to slow the rate of fat loss, as this will ensure your survival as long as possible.
He also was one of the first to point out the oft-encountered “vicious” cycle of human physical deterioration at altitude: loss of appetite– partial starvation–metabolism of climbers’ fat stores for energy– ketoacidosis–further anorexia and loss of appetite–loss of weight–deteriorated physical performance.
These recommendations include engaging in regular physical exercise; eating appropriately sized portions of food; moderating the intake of fat (to reduce the energy density of the diet); restricting the intake of saturated and trans fats; and eating an abundant amount of whole grains, vegetables, and fruits (Box 15-1).
To burn fat, two things must happen: you must burn through most of your stored glycogen, and insulin levels must drop low enough to release the fat stores.
Ok OK enough with the bone broth we know already geez read some comments before you comment and by the way bone broth has calories just saying so it’s not a fast lol.
You covered so much, this video is so well done I have a question though do supplements/vitamins affect the fast at all? How about a splash of almond milk in coffee once a day?
Why does it feel like I’ve lost only 1-2 kgs/2-4 pounds of weight in 28 days almost a month while every one is loosing so much weight? I also don’t eat much junk foods, no sugar at all and do Chloe ting workout.
Honestly I tried a 3day water fast and my body shape didn’t change at all, same belly fat and all. Im a muslim and I’m used to fasting #Ramadhan and I’ve been on the warrior diet for 2 months now and when I did the 3day water fast I felt ok, not hungry just angry the 1st day. that’s all but nothing changed concerning my body shape.
And I’m kind of shocked. If you do fasting research water fasting allows black coffee and green tea. That is it. Maybe if you are lazy then and 0 calorie drink but anything with calories breaks your fast. Common knowledge. Wasn’t expecting you to drink bone broth that has calories.
When my body is already adjust i cant eat a meal more than i wanted. at the frst place i was craving and after i ate it i cant finish it. Its true that intermittent fasting can make your body light..
Thank you Brad for providing such valuable information. I’m still working on getting the money to get into the Live Lean Circle, I’m very close! I REALLY need that community support. That’s all I’m lacking, people who share similar goals and are going through the same struggles. God bless you and your family.
26 seconds into the video i saw something great you did TABLE of contents it helps and its an effective method for us views who do not have adequate data plans; Thank you Dorian Let me finish the video
@liveleantv Hey Brad you posted a video about a cotton swab genetic test, that through this test would help you better determine what foods are best for you, can you or someone in the community help?
I went from 226 lb to 165lb at a height of 6″1 in around 3 months while doing intermediate fasting but then again i also did excersise everyday and in the eating period which i set to 3- 4:00 i only ate around 1’200 calories which is very little for someone my height
IF and low carb aren’t just about calorie restriction, or feeling full, Its also about keeping insulin low, regulating hormones and eliminating trigger foods. 1000 calories of chicken and brocolli act totally different in the body compared to 1000 calories of poptarts and twinkies. You can thrive off meat and fat, you can’t thrive but can survive off oats and veggies. If I eat oats and egg whites, I’m going to be starving in an hour. If I eat whole eggs cooked in butter, I can go all day. One tablespoon of coconut oil barely spikes insulin while a cup of air popped popcorn will send insulin through the roof.
Stop talking about evolution. There is no evidence that what happens in the body is caused by evolution. You can’t measure that. The body adapts. Your whole biochemical expose is not evolution, but rather a complex adaptation to the environment and CHANGES ( not evolution) to ones dietary consumption. All of the complex chemicals in the body do not evolve; they are always there ( unless one has a disease) and will do its work according to the person’s dietary regime, condition ( environment) or activity. Chemicals ( or micronutrients) change depending on the breakdown, the different bonding and thermal reaction. They don’t evolve. Same stuff, different changes.
Yeah I woke up feeling pretty rough on day 2, you know, headache and whatnot…so I just had a little cheeseburger and some fries and I’m feeling ready to keep going and not break the fast…
intermittent fasting fixed my disordered eating. Whilst people with eating disorders shouldn’t do this, fasting helped me personally as I developed eating plans in an organised way with healthy food because I actually looked forward to eating.
ahahahahahahha so I needed to ease into eating more to speed my metabolism up? Because I just straight up went from 1600 calories / day to 3k+ calories per day. Literally one day to the next from 1.6k to 3k+ What have I done to myself? I was shocked how easy it was. What I’m also annoyed by now is how hard it is to shove 3k calories down my throat in 8 hours doing go lean every single day. Maybe I’m doing something wrong?
There’s so much conflicting data out here it’s hard to know what’s right. I’m not sure if I’m slowing or speeding up my metabolism now. I eat one meal a day at lunch time (IF 22/2) but I’m eating around 1700-1800 calories, modified keto. I don’t do traditional weight training. I train with a 40lbs Bulgarian bag doing this circuit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYLmEtAACZQ 3 days a week. Stretching/yoga, running, and core on off days. I am getting into better shape but I’m not sure if this is going to hurt me in the long run. Right now I feel good and it feels sustainable.
If youve just done a fast, why would you put something as toxic as steak or bone roth into your body afterwards? Any idiot knows meat is toxicto the human body!
I have a bit of confusion now so sm please help me, lets say I do the 16:8 fast. With eating window from 11am to 7pm. So after 7pm till the next 11am there is 16h that makes sense but during the eating window, you can’t everything constantly so if I eat breakfast at 11 and lunch at 3 there is almost 4 hours of fasting again, that makes it 20 hours of fasting, is it supposed to be that way?
I’m trying now this intermittent fasting 16:8 but I’m not sure if I’m allowed to drink 0 calorie fluid during the 16 hours could you please explain to me? Thanks
I use a modified version of 16:8. I fast for 16 hours have one big meal at the end and start fasting again for 16 hours, no need to wait out the rest of the 8 hour eating period as i dont eat any more meals. So basically have one meal every 16 hours… is that still considered intermittent fasting?
Wow. I learned a lot about voice over from this video. It sounded like one 3 min long run-on sentence. It was as if someone wrote this script without any commas or periods. I had to stop the video after each sentence to digest what was being said. But I got it. Thanks for the info.
Started doing this a week and a half ago and already feel great. Haven’t weighed in yet, but clothes are getting looser. It’s more than that, though. I have a LOT more energy and I feel like my brain works again. One thing she didn’t mention is that you will feel hungry. In the first few days that is the HARDEST part. Especially if you’re used to eating when you’re hungry. This takes the most will power. But after a few days to a week, it gets easier. You get used to feeling hungry and it often goes away as well. You have to let yourself get used to that feeling and know that you won’t die from it.
Jeremy, is it safe for me to take pre workout? I am about to turn 15. I play hockey 3,4,5 times a week along with workouts either on off days, or before/ after hockey. On some days I feel like I need a little extra boost to perform well, especially since I have tryouts coming up.
So after spending all my weekends on this (minus the weekend I went to EDC ) it’s finally done! I know 40 minutes can seem intense but I wanted to give you EVERYTHING I could think of. I put timecodes in the description to help! Thanks for being so supportive while I grinded this out, I hope the wait was worth it
Hey Sal, just wanted to stop by and say I appreciate all the killer content. I decided to give MAPS Anabolic a try when it went on sale for 50% off. I was wary of buying programs, but I have been a listener for over a year and decided at the very least it was a way to support you guys. I started a bulk and switched off a 5 day upper/lower split and damn the results have been incredible. I’m almost done with phase 2 of the program and my metabolism and strength have shot through the roof. You guys really know your shit and I can’t wait to pick up MAPS Aesthetic and Performance. You guys rock
I was starting my fast today (It’s 6pm and I haven’t eaten yet) Watching this video made me realize I actually ate lots of rice and pizza and a soda yesterday. So I’ll eat today and tomorrow then start Saturday. I’ll give myself 2 days of clean healthy eating. I only plan on doing it for 48 hours.
I’m so ready for intermediating fasting because I’ve been fasting entire Ramadan without water tho but lol you can drink water in intermediating fasting that sounds more easy tbh
Commenters below need to put this video in the context of ‘fat loss’ for trained individuals, vs. weight loss in the context of obesity. Big difference.
If you lost 65 lbs on keto/IF, good job. I think those protocols are legit harder to follow when you’re say, 15% bodyfat dropping to 10%, and don’t have years worth of accumulated fat for energy. Just my 2c.
Autophagy (or autophagocytosis) (from the Ancient Greek αὐτόφαγος autóphagos, meaning “self-devouring”[1] and κύτος kýtos, meaning “hollow”[2]) is the natural, regulated mechanism of the cell that removes unnecessary or disfunctional components.[3] It allows the orderly degradation and recycling of cellular components.[4][5] not Latin, thank you
Please don’t do this, it’s incredibly dangerous especially for people with illnesses and weak immune systems. Even if you’re a healthy person, you’re most likely to regain the weight once you start eating again. Don’t promote this.
Oh yeah I had to experience the over eating after fasting a lot. What my body would normally be ok with eating for breakfast would suddenly become too much and I would have stomach cramps for half an hour to an hour. So now I begin with something really small to get my body used to the food and then have my normal breakfast half an hour later
There is so much wrong with this video, its sad. Sad because so many people watched it and believed it to be fact. Please research yourself and disregard this video
27/05/2020: Today is my first day doing it. I’m doing the 16:8. I’m 16. I weigh 85.8kg, 185 lbs. wish me luck. I’ll try update weekly. So I put the wrong weight. I actually weigh 89.0kg. I update on 03/06/2020 Well I forgot to update but I’m not really taking it seriously now but I lost around 1.1 kg in a week and I wasn’t eating healthy foods. So I definitely recommend it as well as eating right and exercising.
I’m trying to improve my dancing so I’ve been working out for about a month now and haven’t seen any muscle changes so I think im gotta try this to see if I can slim down some of my top layer of fat.
Thank you Jeremy for the vid but I have found a lot of misleading information here. 1) Intermittent fasting is not a diet but schedule to eat. 2) Lowering your insulin level, which Intermittent fasting does, has a lot of health benefits especially for people with insulin resistance, which most people overweight are. 3) KETO is not a zero carbs diet but a low carb diet (carbs intake can be between 20 to 50g). It is actually advice in KETO to eat a lot of vegetable with low Glycemic Index (GI).
As mentioned in the video, you can download your free copy of the fat loss meal plan here: https://builtwithscience.com/mealplan/. Let me know how you like it!
ON another note: The Keto diet. All these youtubers pushing the Keto diet, no carbs, low protein and high fat. Yet, like you said, fats are high in calories. Protein is important and so are some carbs. Good fats are good for you yes, but not at all a sustainable food source. So why do these Keto-fanatics constantly push this as if they HAVE to stay in the trend-zone and people listen as if it’s Gospel. I don’t get it.
I see a lot of people giving you crap about the bone broth. Bone broth is ok as long as you are fasting for weight loss. If you are fasting for autophagy, then no calories should be consumed. Water and minerals only.
I used to do a 3 day Master Cleanser fast every year. I even did it for 18 days once. That was nuts but I felt amazing. It’s basically a lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne and water fast. Haven’t done one in the past few years though.
I fasted 72 hours last week. I lost initally 8lbs, and then gained back 2. I’m planning another 72 hour fast soon but am content with alternate day fasting for a few weeks as long as I keep reducing my body fat. Highly recommend
So much bullshit…after 24 hrs of water fasting you will NOT have mood improvement or rise of energy and euphoria…you will have lethargy, headaches and constant hunger feeling.Dont believe all those videos, try and yoj will see how tough is to water fast for more than 3 days
Awesome vids straightforward, simple, and informative. Huge request can you do a video on elevation masks? How effective are they? Most importantly, if worn during weight training exercises do they add benefit of getting some cardio/endurance to the weightlifting or do they negatively impact the benefits of weight training exercises by decreased 02 making people tire faster and lift less effectively?
I like the “invest” mentality versus the “deprive” approach to nutrition. Another great video with excellent use of graphics and meaningful comparisons. Keep it up!
Just so people know who are watching a real water fast is WATER ONLY. Not coffee, not seltzer water,or bone broth. The major benefit of water fast is to let the body heals and by adding coffee, bone broth your messing with the process of the body healing itself.
If you are doing water fasting you shouldn’t drink bone broth. Big mistake. It’s breaking your fast. Bone broth is good for breaking the fast when you’re done with it.
When I fast I desperately need potassium. My whole body aches and cramps and feels terrible. Oddly I’ve always felt potassium deficient though. So it may be something a little bit unique to me. I would make sure to eat a banana every day normally. Most people I know don’t religiously consume bananas or potassium in general like I’ve felt is necessary for me.

Absolutely brilliant! Best explanation ever. I have been all over YouTube and I’m wanting to get in shape, I’ve been afraid of going to the gym, I do have a membership I just haven’t gone yet. I started by watching your how to tutorials on how to handle weights and what to do with them, but the only advice I’ve gotten from a friend was to just lift weights & the fat will come off and I totally was confused by that, but you have made it very clear and I now understand what he was trying to tell me now. Wonderful video you got yourself a new subscriber
It works. I’m doing 20:4 and I lost 7 pound in a week. Also I did do some work out and didn’t eat too heavy when it was time to eat. Just fix your eating habits and IF will help you loose the weight you want. If it’s for weight purposes.
Ok because you hit me with all these big words, can you tell me like a basic start up package. Like try theses meals, time breakdown, and how much water I can drink while wait to eat again
For me the biggest issue I have is finding the right foods. Having a take with a proper breakdown of each foods stats would b ideal but unfortunately that is not provided on vegetables and fruits. It’s always only provided on the processed stuff.
I’m on ADHD meds. Which are very well known for appitite suppression. I only feel hungry once a day. Usually around 6pm or later. I eat a relatively healthy diet, and do weight or strength training for at least 30 minutes 5 days a week. I’m getting ready to bumb up my daily workouts to around 60 minutes a day. Which means consuming enough calories is a stuggle. It’s Saturday, and as of 8pm I managed 850 (that is with making an effort). I’ll have a few beers, not light beers, so I’ll end up around 1600 to 1800. Not the way I want to hit my caloric intake. On a work night I struggle to surpass 1000. I could, if I eat like shit or eat crap after dinner even though I’m not hungry. Any suggestions?
I fasted for a week and lost 10 pounds. It’s kinda bad the first few days but after the first 3 days it should be easier to continue without food and fast. At least for me
I’m currently on day four. I’m fasting for 7-10 days however long I can last. i haven’t weighed myself yet cause I’m gonna weigh myself when the fast is over but before the fast I was 177. My goal is 150-160 I’ll update y’all soon
I’m working from home and didn’t realize how much going to the office contributed to staying at a caloric deficit. I didn’t stop working out these last few months but I still gained 7 kgs!
Thank you for using fat loss instead of weight loss. I cannot tell you how it grates on my nerves when seemingly smart people keep talking about weight loss when they mean fat loss, like weight is a reliable measure in body composition
I wrote about my experience doing a 22 day water fast here. Includes data from pre and post fast blood tests https://medium.com/@realkniels/how-a-22-day-water-fast-changed-my-life-84b48287144e
I would not drink Sank Pellegrino even if I got it for free. Every year I read headlines about new heavy metals being found (lead, uranium, etc. google, if you are interested). Here is just one example, but there are better ones https://tamararubin.com/2017/04/pellegrino-green-glass-water-bottle-116-ppm-lead-please-click-read-to-learn-more/. Nice video and nice summary description. But bone broth breaks a fast. I cannot take this mentioning of “anything below 50 calories…blabla” seriously, because a) how does one want to know how many calories are in the bone broth….indications on packaging are average values) and b) I thought the purpose of a fast is to give the digestive system a rest and not to stress oneself out over what is under 50 calories and make it some kind of sissy fast. From my fasting experience I can say that anything I consume that remotely makes me think of food, makes my life harder. Bone broth makes me think of the delicious thick soups I make.
I didn’t eat anything yesterday and I didn’t drink water. I was mostly in my room. It’s 4:13 am right now. I’m waiting it to be 5am so I can get a cup of water. Also my stomach and shoulder hurt, and near my chest like the right side.
Fasted cardio and keto, helped me lose around 100lbs of body fat over a 1 year period, while visibly gaining muscle. I was pretty obese so maybe that had an effect on my end results. I have been able to retain my new wight over the years.
I was doing low carb for so long and after I got some testing done with a dietician I found out that I actually need carbs. My lowest number is protein I was dumbfounded. I’m doing intuitive eating. If I’m hungry in the morning then I’ll eat breakfast if not I skip breakfast. I’ve realized that I’ve always eaten that way and have been able to keep weight off it was only when I started hopping on bandwagons that I started gaining and couldn’t keep it off.
As you said, the common thread across all the diets that you mentioned fail long term is they find a way to manage hunger so you stay in a calorie deficit. You also mention they fail because they aren’t sustainable? How is this one different? What guarantees it is more sustainable than the others?
I see it a bit differently, what’s common in dieting is calorie restriction. Calorie restriction as a fat loss method is flawed. The body adapts its metabolism/energy requirements hence weight loss plateaus. This requires even deeper calorie cuts that the body will adapt until you give up and reset hence gaining all the weight back. Perhaps look into the impact of what you eat on your sugar control/fat access/satiety hormones which will give you a different perspective on why eating certain foods is recommended and is sustainable because it has no detrimental impact on your metabolism.
I have been strict natural Keto for over 6 months and am pretty fat adapted already. I have done a few extended fasts, building up to 72 hours. I have only done the extended fast no more frequently than every 2 weeks. In between I only consume about 1200 calories a day. What would be an optimal caloric intake between fasts? I am currently 185lbs and still considered obese.
I am 3 days in to a 21-30 day fast ( depending on how my body feels ) I know that they said today would be the worst, but personally, I don’t feel that bad. A little hungry I suppose, but nothing unmanageable. Though I have noticed that I am having trouble sleeping. I am only drinking water, tea ( nothing in it, usually green ), and vitamins. Iron, multivitamin for women, vitamin c, salt added to my water and vitamin gummies. I did roughly 2 months of keto during covid19. This does feel a like, but better so far? I am 5’3, 24, and weight 147lbs. I will update this as things go along.
Remember to always consult your doctor before attempting a water fast, because doing it wrong is dangerous. For some people, doing it at all is dangerous. Please don’t harm your body especially if you are growing by trying something incorrectly. Remember that there are plenty of healthy ways to lose weight and water fasting is not the only option.
I eat 3 meals and 2 snacks to keep me full. Eating high volume but low calories do the trick for me. Always include fiber, high protein, low carbs. Do refeed day once a week to reset your mind about strict diet. I lost 27kg already.
newsflash some people have to look for nutrition value, how much calories do i get for my money. i cant spend all my coins to buy stuff that does not feed me.
I slightly disagree with you as any diet or strategy doesn’t work if your under a lot of stress. The best diet you can do is to reduce the amount of stress your under, mabe with yoga, meditation, exercise and the way you think. Obviously strenuous exercises such as heavy lifting will increase the adrenaline levels which can increase stress, so therefore manageable weights are perfect, but I do agree on eating nutritional low calories foods which also helps in stress reduction.
The biggest hassle in cutting is counting kcalories. I don’t mind going a month on a serious deficit, but having to count calories to maintain a diet optimal for fat loss while retaining muscle… It’s a drag.
I am in a training program that has me doing weight lifting m/w/f with 30 min LISS cardio those days.. except wed whic is leg day.. then in 30 min interval cardio on t/th/sat with rest day on Sunday.. I am 5’4 144.3 lbs and I haven’t lost a pound and I feel exhausted… how do I know if I am in the right programs? I do spinning for cardio..
For me I’ve literally been having a granola bar, apple sauce, and a protein shake for breakfast. Then for lunch usually a PB&J with green beans. And dinner i just eat normal whether it be Burgers, Pizza salad etc. I don’t drink soda, just water, milk, and Powerade. I dont have candy or junk food much ever. I have healthy snacks like dried fruit. I weigh 260 lbs and have lost 5 lbs so far this month
Hello.I willingly underwent a full 3 days water fasting, throughout which I did drink only mineral water and nothing else and eat thoroughly nothing.I wanted to cleanse thoroughly my whole alimentary canal, my bowels until in the end I began to throw out of my body only thoroughly watery stools, stools made up wholly of clean water.I wished so strongly to see and feel my innards thoroughly cleansed, for I feel an inborn loathe towards human stools, even my own stools and therefore wanted at least once in my life to have instead of the loathesome everyday well known stools, clean sools made up only of water and some enzimes found naturally in the bowels. It was indeed hard to live out 3 whole days and nights without any food and only drinking mineral water and to help myself to withstand better this so unlovely for the soul and brain fasting I had in my home only water before my eyes and no any food, and also it greatly helped me to smell (not to drink ) coffee beans and my set of personal perfumes.I felt on times strong anger towards everything and needed to soothe myself with self-made foot massage every night to can fall asleep ( to some kind of shallow night sleep, but better than no any night sleep at all).Of course, those who have a wife or close female friend and make love throughout these 3 seemingly endless water fasting days it would be great and almost these 3 days of fasting nightmare will end so quickly and achelessly.I had a great deal of help also from self-masturbation and taking a lot of showers with deeply soothing shampoos and soaps from ”L’occitan ” and from ”Body shop”.Every time when I felt an almost overwhelming, not overcomable craving for food I went in my bathroom masturbated and then took lenghty showers with brain-soothing Lavender shampoos and soaps.I mean to undergo every year a whole 3 days full water fasting in the time to come.I am glad that there in the world are many other like me.I even did read for some North American who underwent whole 5 days of full water fasting willingly. Also I came to know for an other European who had the will not eat and to drink only water for whole 10 days, but he was in hospital deeply frightened for his life and threfore his brain had begotten no thought about food and he did not feel the need for whatever food throughout these 10 days. But when one willingly go to live only on water for 3 days and is staying in one’s own home it is a thousand times more hard but in the end the feeling of gladnes is so unspeakably wonderful!
I have a suggestion for a video! I am seeing a physiotherapist and doing my exercises every second day for about 1,5 hours. My goal is not to show off my muscles and my well-trained body next summer, but to work out for health purposes and build strength in my tendons and muscles so I could walk without pain and they could provide support for my joints. These exercises are not THAT hard, I mean, I am not drowning in sweat all the time, but I still feel that I am working out and my pulse gets up. Some of them are really, really hard that I can barely do all of the sets I am supposed to. Some of them are meant to train my feet. I have to use some weights, but I am definitely not a heavy lifter. I am really working mainly on my ankle stability and core strength for my back etc. So my questionif I am more concerned about my Achilles tendon, my feet balance (I am really proud that I can see how trained my feet become, hence less pain) and my core strength for scoliosis support rather than getting a six-packmaybe there is a different diet to follow along? I definitely don’t have to eat similar amounts of protein like a heavy lifter, but I need to eat enough to support and regenerate my achy feet tendons and muscles! I also don’t burn a ton of calories in a day, my main cardio is walking ( 10 000 steps a day). Should I start pumping collagen? Are post-workout shakes still valid if I am not drowning in sweat? Are protein bars still valid if I am not pushing to my limits every time I work out? As much as I am interested in gaining strength in my body I also do not want to gain weight from eating inadequate amounts of protein. Maybe there are also people who do physiotherapy? What are your diet experiences for better results?
I am that kind of person, who tries to lose fat whit fitness, but never worka out, my metabolism is very slow and I couldn t make it work, until I tried this out.For metabolism acceleration you have to try this shorturl.at/ovCGW.
Covid caused me to start eating like ass more often bc i started eating later, then I wasn’t as hungry during the day, now im down 20 pounds however im fucking shredded now i gotta eat normal again bc im losing energy
Longest I’ve went on a water fast was 10 days, you should see what benefits and stages you go through on day 5-10! Also what makes things a bit easier is adding in the electrolytes your body loses, during the fast so it’s key to supplement your water. I do food grade pink Himalayan Epsom salt for sodium levels since you need almost triple the amount of daily sodium intake when you do prolonged fast, magnesium and potassium.
Eat 2 meals a day, not 3. Breakfast and late lunch/early dinner around 2- 3:00. I lost 30 lbs. in one month. We are eating toobmuch damn food and laying horizontal at night with our dinner clogging our intestines instead of being metabolized for nutritional value and energy. You don’t have to starve yourself, just do this.
Hello fellow humans I am currently on a lookout for people who would be up for doing a week of water fasting and if feeling good it could be extended up to two weeks. Since I have no friends I was wondering if we could just be meeting every day here in the comments to give a report on our progress to motivate each other? Would anyone be up for doing this with me? And if yes write when you would like to start. Let’s get shredded!
Muslim people have been doing this for ages, fasting twice every week and three consecutive days in a Month. also a full month of intermittent fasting.
Nice video and I appreciate you talked without setting plant based vs carnivoresgood job. As a SOS free whole food plant based person, the low calorie density life style is simple and very effective for weight and fat loss.
Last time I fasted for 3 days, I felt my muscles get really sore specifically in my legs. Does that mean that my body was probably eating more of my muscle than fat? Or..?
0:00 definition of IF 0:30 path of glucose 0:46 excess glucose storage 0:52 effects of fasting on glycogen 1:11 effects of fasting on fats (adipose tissues) 1:39 how insulin works and how IF affects insulin levels 2:16 how IF affects the brain 2:32 who should not fast 2:55 types of IF 3:15 tips for IF
Almost resorted to cannibalism on the third day cause my gf locked up the food. As soon as the fast ended, she ran and unlocked the safe as she realized that when I would look at anyone, I would salivate( in hunger not lust).
Hello Dorian! I take IGF1-LR3 and Ipamorelin/CJC and Testosterone. How will that affect my 16hr 72hr fast? Is it dangerous to fast while taking prescribed peptide/testosterone treatment? Thank you for your time!
as someone who is underweight, under 18, and possibly has diabetes/had at some point an ED, I feel called out by the “people who should not try intermittent fasting-” part mostly because I did unhealthy fasting and binging for a while as a child (due to my ED) like bro I came here cause I wanted to know what it was don’t call me out like that
Guys really it work to lose weight My weight was 80, I tried to lose weight by going gym and doing lot of exercises But my weight was stuck But when I done intermittent fasting I lose 1.5 kg in one week This really works
Great video. I recently started taking in less calories, & avoiding tons of carbs \ sugars. So far it’s helping, even though I run. I find that I’m re burning at a faster rate. I’m also staying away from frozen foods as well.
I was thinking that the reason for a three day fast is for the body to focus on healing. I would think that resting would support this better than working out? And pushing the body? but I’m not an expert
YOUR TUMMY EVEN SHRINKS SO U DON’T CRAVE AS MUCH AFTER A WHILE….( RAMADAN FACT, TRIED N TRUE) YOU CAN DO THIS READER! WE IN AMERICA EAT TOO MUCH FAR TOO MUCH. EAT TO LIVE, DON’T LIVE TO EAT. YOUR BODIES WILL THANK YOU. GOOD FORTUNE TO YOU READER.
There is no such thing as starvation mode, your body can’t magically hold onto fat reserves that’s physically impossible. You are sluggish and move about less so your NEAT lowers yes, but not to the extent you’ll stop losing weight. Also if you lose lean mass that will slow your metabolism.
Aside from that good vid, but really wish people would stop going round saying starvation mode is real, it’s irresponsible.
I’m 20 years old. I was 72kg then I followed intermittent fasting. After 1 month I lost 7kg(now 65kg). I’m so happy… (I also reduced carbohydrate intake and almost avoided sugar in drinks)
People if you don’t regularly fast then doing it for 3 days is pointless and you may get moody unless you just want to challenge yourself then go ahead. This is because you’re a constant eater and the 2 hormones that control hunger ghrelin and leptin are sensitive. I do 20 hour fasts Mon-Thursday then a 60-64 hour fast from Thursday night Sunday morning/lunch time and smash down over 10,000 calories every Sunday. I stay lean doing this and I will live to 150.
So you did a liquid fast, cause fasting is a state of you not digesting or consuming any form of nourishment. Only thing that are permitted in moderation is tea( matcha or green no fruits) black coffe, carbonated water and salt for electrolyte balance in he body. Great video tho but just be clear on the type of fast you are doing, this has similar benefits mainly digestion and gut bacteria. As well lowering insulin levels. Now bone broth is great to break a fast, you wanna stir clear of carbs since your hypersensitive to them at this time. So lean meats and easy to digest greens are preferred.
You don’t have to eat weird foods (but do try new things, variety is key). Just control your portions and eat lots of good food. Measure your food if you need to learn portion control. Rather than replacing pasta with zucchini noodles, just eat half or a third of the pasta you would normally eat and add the zucchini (grilled maybe) as a side dish to add more volume. Something like zucchini noodles are tasty but don’t leave me full for more than an hour. Having some pasta helps a lot. Just eat more veggies, fruit and healthy meat than pasta. The biggest portions on your plate should be veggies and meat and the smallest portions should be carbs like pasta and bread.
Hi just broke my 3 days dry fast. My experience was I had terrible headache on the second day but no thirst or hunger. I guess the headache was I jumped into the dry fast before doing any other fast like water or juice fast first. I’m always on intermittent fast and the headaches has to do with caffeine withdrawal symptoms. I’m weaning myself from coffee. It’s hard but got to do it. So just want to point out if you are going to do dry fast, to start by hydrating yourself properly and eat more micro nutrients food and then do the dry fast. I prefer dry fast with water fast I tend to get more hungrier. I know some will say they prefer water fast! With me dry fast is the easiest no food or water and no hunger pangs
Yes, you have to be in calory deficit, but you have not mentioned: insulin, glucagon, leptin, inflamation, keton bodies, liver activities and so on. Ketogenic diet an IF is so much more, I know, I have lost 30kg and my bloodwork improved, including cholesterol. I don’t mean to start a religious war, all I say you may want to go deeper in the topic.
Hey, I was wondering if you have heard of this weight loss program before? https://tinyurl.com/yyg7fat2 it looks like a great program to help people weight loss. I was just looking for some options before I made my decision. By the way. I love the content you have been posting lately!
Diabetes is not reversible only MANAGEABLE. When you eat low carb high fat, you bring your sugar down to, ‘normal’, but should you fall off that wagon, your diabetes is right back. It’s key to keep up the correct ‘diet’. diabetesforum.com. Lovely site and very helpful people.:)
Ah man, please don’t diss some of these diets. The reason people can’t stick on these diets is because they’re addicted to carbs. Keto with IF is the way forward.
well im dumb… ive been eating 250350 calories every 3-4 hours a day… trying to lose fat fukken insulin… guess that OMAD diet aint so bad! i just work out a lot and constantly need that energy boost. Ill try the OMAD for a week or two, get used to that, take breaks if i gotta go back to my more frequent small meals. I’ll have the most nutritionally balanced meal at night i can possibly make and try some how to strength train in the morning and do cardio in the noon… sounds scary without at least breakfast for me >,< but science haha. Once if that works for me ill do his 3 day fasting thing every week and eat real healthy (not restrictive) for those 4 days. I have a weak heart, take medications, and also have celiacs disease, so changing my diet has been hard scary and sometimes destructive. I'd never go more thank a week without eating, sure id die with my activity rate. But achieving a 3 day fast and burning all that fat o.o is what ive been trying to do!!! WISH ME GRACE
is it advisable to those who have ulcer and more acidic like me? coz when i do fasting my head hurt so much and i feel like to vomit i feel pain in my stomach..
Hey man, just found your channel, love the recipe videos!!! defo going to try a few of them out for sure, as for this video i can attest to the fact that fasting and keto can reverse Diabetes!!!!!! I was diagnosed with type 2 back in 2017, i did nothing and it got worse, had to up my metformin/blood pressure/cholesterol medication after 6 months. By 2018 i had put more weight on, and in june last year weighing nearly 400lbs i decided enough was enough and shortly after my birthday i started eating low carb. By mid july i had moved to full keto and in October i had my 6 monthly bloodwork done and was taken off every bit of medication and had reversed my type 2 diabetes!!! All in under 6 months!!! Ive gone from 400lbs to 330lbs in this time and have set myself a target of 280lbs by my birthday in June!!! I cannot emphasise enough how much this way of life has helped to save my life!!!! Anyways keep up the good work with videos pal. 😉
Im doing 24 hours fasting with OMAD, little exercise in morning and afternoon. I eat whatever i want sometimes i eat healthy. I lost 2 3kg in a week. This is my 4th month of intermittent fasting. And i really happy about it. (Sorry my bad english)
I haven’t been capable of eating because I’m grieving really hard over the loss of a love one. It’s been a few days, but I’m trying to force feed myself.
I dry fast for 2 days and i feel grest. No cognitive impairment. Its actually the opposite. Whoever made this video is saf and is part of the evil big pharma and their minions
I’ve been intermittent fasting for the past 2-years (8-hour eating window) and love it, and I have been contemplating tossing a fasting day each week. Well, that day was today and I’m feeling pretty good here at 11:30 PM. I’ve been without food since 8:00 PM yesterday, and I’ve only had water, black coffee, green and black tea to drink. My energy was surprisingly good in that I worked-out fasted at the gym this morning (which isn’t unusual) and then walked 3-miles this evening. I have to admit that my energy level was a bit lower on the walk, but that could simply be the near 100 degree temps and higher humidity. Of, and I pushed the lawn mower and trimmed/edge the lawn for an hour prior to the walk so that may have something to do with it. LOL! Anyway, my energy is still good, and I’m not hungry, but I may eat first thing in the morning because I’m worried about muscle loss. We shall see. Enjoyed the video. Cheers!
I want to do this because i resemble a beaten pear. I want to do this because it can help my self esteem, and I want to actually look somewhat respectable
This is an amazing Channel and it has helped me with implementing healthy changes in my life style, however, A keto diet is amazing. Cutting out junk and giving the body time to replenish and disperse all the elements at its most efficiency, does wonders for the body. But as long as you eat the right foods, plenty of vegetables, little bit of fruit and if you want to have some organic farmers meats/fish as well and you are consistent, you will see results. Peace
a calorie is not calorie, different macro nutrients affect your body in different ways, carbs spike your blood sugars and there for your hormone insulin, which is your fat storing hormone
This is so great! Thank you, Jeremy!! At least I’ve come half way through now for no. 2 and 3. Will try out more low density food! The fact is so fascinating. I love the idea that we keep ourselves full with better choices without starving ourselves.
Good content. However, one thing the so called “fad diets” achieves that was not mentioned in the video is that diets like Healthy Keto, Intermittent fasting e.t.c leads to INSULIN SENSITIVITY. This means you do not have constantly high insulin levels. Basically, when Insulin is “ON”, fat burning is switched “OFF”.
Also, the video seems to suggest that “a calorie is a calorie” regardless of the source. This is not so. For example if you consume protein that is meant to give you 100 calories. Your body will use up some of those just in breaking down the protein you just consumed. Same idea for fat.
I water fasted for 3 days. Normally working. And the 3rd day i tried to go workout and I almost passed out for lack of sugar . My trainer gave me a banana wich i took two bites and was good in less than a minute. It sucks getting old.
I don’t agree with this video, i’ve found a ton of studies that say that some keto diets has extra benefits to body compostion and weight loss, of which is SCIENCE backed, and not just to manage your hunger or some other bullshit. The more i have read up on health and all the best diets out there, the more i see the bad parts about the other diets and the good about keto, there’s several reasons why it’s so popular atm, but i truly believe that you need to read more about keto and low carb, high fat diets overall to understand WHY they are more effective than just eating correctly overall. The low carb intake that regulates the bloodsugar is quite important honestly, and comes with a ton of benefits.. and burning fat as fuel instead of using carbs is another key thing to make it JUST a bit more effective than any other diet i have looked at. as for it keeping you full, fat and protein does that:) So yea.. the hunger thing matters, but that’s NOT why keto is good. If you don’t wanna read more studies about it, then i totally understand, however i’m just gonna state that i disagree strongly with you on this.
Absulotely love the content! Though the main point of why keto works is insulin control, especially for those who are insulin resistant All in all kick-ass video, thank you for your efforts!
Narrator is Canadian. How to tell if someone is Canadian or American: listen for the word “process”. Americans say “prah-cess”; Canadians say “PRO-cess”. 100% accurate
I’m on my 15 days of water fasting 3 to 5 days you wii really fell the pain but after that you will fell relaxed and refresh.. then on coming days I just realize that Evertything I go through is fake cause when I wake up I just realize I was Just dreaming and when I look at The mirror oh my I was shock I still have a big Belly hyst discourage
I fast 72 hours at a stretch. I’m 1/2 way to my goal in less than 6 months. I wanted to drop 80lbs in less than a year and it’s happening thanks to intermittent fasting and a low carb diet. It’s real, and it’s perfectly healthy. I tell people what I’m doing and their first reaction is “Oh I could never go without food for that long”. The can, they just don’t want to. Every time I feel tempted to abandon my fast I just remind myself I’d rather be mildly annoyed by hunger pangs temporarily than fat and sick permanently.
Do you know that carrying excess weight, especially around the belly, can lead to serious health problems? Here’s how to burn belly fat fast without going on a diet or exercise. https://tinyurl.com/y5rvu8wb or https://tinyurl.com/y6m3tzjf
I think it depends on the person. Ive been on carnivore diet for 7 months and due to feeling satiated after a couple lbs of meat it kind of naturally promotes intermittent fasting. I no longer have energy crashes, I’ve lost 50lbs, and feel healthier than ever. Inflammation is completely gone and my muscles have never grown this fast while also trying to lose weight. People need to figure out their body. Also I hated calorie counting and always feeling bloated
I agree with most in this video except in taking sparkling water and minerals while fasting. There’s a video by a water fasting expert who explains why. I’m on day 17 of my waterfast and only drink water. Thanks toy our video I understand more now why I have little energy lol but I feel good.
Complete curiosity how did you lose only 4 lbs in the days of no food but if I go 12 hours without food I lose 5 or 6 lbs is it just genetics or what not trying to sound rude just confused
One day I said I will go a day without food and I did. And like he said I was starving it felt like at some points and then I just wasn’t hungry after that.
The longest ive fast was only 3 days i stopped when i felt INTENSE stomach ache. Ive been doing intermittent diet for 2 weeks now i think i can take on 7days water fast. Wish me luck!!
Dont forget to talk and thank יהוה while you fast. You will break a stronghold.
Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? Isaiah 58:6 | KJV
Been doing intermittent fasting for the last 3 months. I’ve lost 24 pounds and I feel amazing. A few notes: I don’t follow a restricted diet. I basically eat what I want. Sometimes I eat healthy, other times I eat junk food. The 16-8 hour period doesn’t have to be fixed. I almost chance it everyday, but when changing it always remember to add to the fasting time not deduct from it. If you want to succeed, just make it a way of life. Don’t over do it for fast results. You don’t need to always eat healthy in your eating window. You can have a burger, chocolate whatever if you crave them. Every week or 2 weeks you find yourself eating outside your eating window. Don’t panic, just start fasting again for 16 hours after your last meal. Good luck:)
Very delicious recipe!) Thanks! I am your subscriber! I would be glad if you subscribe to my channel 😉 I wish you success in all your endeavors with all my heart!)
I started intermittent Fasting 2 months ago with a iPhone app called simple… I’m following a diet called the warrior diet where I eat one meal a day within the time 9-12 only breakfast. And I’ve been going on One hour runs. I went from 272 Lbs to 245 and so can you! I’m going to keep going until I hit 200…
I tried this and I literally went 17 hrs and I suddenly felt soo weak and sick and irritated and ect wasnt even hungry but i guess my body was in shock or some.. NEVER AGAIN ill stick with intermittent fasting
The real head scratcher is this: Everyone talks about a calorie deficit, but in reality, very few people can or will ever BE in a calorie deficit when considering that a calorie deficit by definition means you’re burning more than you’re taking in. But let’s say you spend an hour on the treadmill and burn 300 calories, then you go grab a healthy meal, you’ve just balanced out assuming you stay within the 300 calorie range. Go over that and you’re no longer in a calorie deficit. My point is, it is unrealistic to say people can maintain a calorie deficit. Unless I’m missing something this has always left me doubtful. I myself am in a strange place. I had bariatric surgery last year and have lost 116 lbs. I eat very little and am extremely active and even I can’t stay in a calorie deficit. I use the treadmill every day and stay active all day between this or that since I work from home and have the freedom to stay active. Yet I have been an a perpetual plateau for months now. I’ve been told to eat more, eat more often, eat more good carbs (I abandoned carbs almost completely years ago). I don’t eat junk food or processed food. I cook everything from scratch as I’ve been doing for years now, and still there’s that plateau. So a calorie deficit seems unrealistic. Again, unless I’m missing something.
After 28 hours of water fasting I started to get constant headache, I tried to sleep it off but it ended becoming more severe, I lasted with the water fasting for 44 hours actually aimed for 72 hours, please temme even after I broke the fasting the headache was on and off. Before fasting I never had this headache. How much water I should consume during fasting? During fasting as you mentioned I tried taking electrolytes and soaked chia seeds along with water, still the headache continued?
I disagree, IF paired with Keto has SO many benefits outside of weight loss. Even for muscle gain, when people say that you need a lot of carbs to build muscle, it’s not true. You don’t need any carbs, BUT a small amount like 40-60 is very good for muscle growth, and if you go high carb, you’re going to be insulin resistant. And also, there are many thing also important for muscle growth, like potassium, go research about it. IF and Exercising increases growth hormone by 2000% and makes you more insulin sensitive. So if you train fasted and consume protein and and a bit of carbs, like a shake with some strawberries and on the on the side, keto high protein pancakes with ice cream, most of the carbs will go to your muscles and you probably won’t get kicked out of keto. Also and advantage is that when IF you will usually have 2 (3 if you’re having Lower carbs) meals, imagine having to spread out your calories in 2-3 meals instead of 5, your meals with be ENORMOUS and you can eat as much peanut butter as you like lol. Also, if you know how to get creative with your meals, it’s as if you’re not on a diet, eg: Cauliflower rice, pizza, mashed potatoes, almond flour bread (literally taste just like bread), ice cream (Tastes just like ice cream, make a high fat smoothie, freeze into ice cubes, blend and freeze again, super creamy and taste and texture is an actual Ben and Jerry’s ice cream) and many other. Can you make a video on the best diet for body recomp, AND health.
You may want to know that you actually went into autophagy…and your body started ‘self eating’…any old and damaged cells, any bacteria, and it cleaned itself out!
I’m on my 48hrs of fasting now my brain now is thinking food this is my 4th time of 48hrs for this month. I think it’s my mistake why I did this bec I just finished my 48hrs fasting last Thursday. Im omad lcif.
Excellent results from INTERMITTENT FASTING. lost 1.5kgs in just 6 days…now I’m in 10th day… I’ll check on 14 th day I’m confident of loosing another 2 kgs
This is weird lol I was only just thinking about a water fast, but didn’t search it online, only thought about it, then this video was suggested to me.. Like n follow lol
I just did water fasting for 7 days and lose almost 7kg that’s unbelievable it’s was not so tough as I thought guys go for it but most important is refeeding process do not go for junk orelse your efforts will be useless
If you’re a stupid potato like me and had to watch this twice this is what she said:
Food is turned into glucose which we use for energy. Extra energy is stored in the liver and fat. If we fast long enough the body will use the energy stored in the liver and when that runs out we use the fat for energy thus losing weight
This is dumb. If you lose more than 1% bodyweight per week then ur losing muscle. And this is more like starving yourself so isn’t healthy. It’s better to do slow and steady weight loss which you can do and maintain for lifetime (200-500 calories deficit per day) than doing this kind of fasting which totally exhaust and starves yourself.
Please Help… I wany to lose fat but gain weight. And i exercise 1 hour in the morning and meditate. Will intetmittent fast help? Is it possible to continue gaining weight while following this fast???
I wonder what the dislikes are about. This is by far the best YouTube content I’ve seen talking about physiology, biochemistry, hormones, etc.. It has all the visual features, studies sources and it’s explained on an easy understanding manner, not just a scientist talking on a boring convention.
So how many scoops a day (the one recommended here) should I take a day, in order to match the recommended Sodium, Potassium and Magnesium intakes in this video? Thanks! Amazing work!
Here’s the link to the calorie calculator: https://www.liveleantv.com/calorie-calculator/ Discount link to Live Lean Afterburn 2.0: https://www.liveleantv.com/programs/live-lean-afterburn-2-0/
Now the question I really wish you read is how to calculate the amount of calories burned during weight lifting since there is no screen on the dumbbells to show you the numbers help please
Such an awful title, can’t believe people buy into this guy’s information overload and over-analysis. There is NO SUCH thing as “SINGLE BEST” for anything as we are all different.
If you find it hard to fast or painful this might be a sign you’re very toxic. Eat clean foods and ease into fasting. Inform yourself and use discretion. When you have fasted and turned from filthy living and have endured until you are truly clean, you should have a clarity and lightness of body and mind you probably have never experienced. Then your true nature and personallity can shine forth freely through your form, for the window of your earthly life will be no longer muddled with toxins and disease. You shall experience more peace and joy and enthusiasm and wonder for life. Sadly moden society has been set up to toxify your body and mind in almost every way possible, but there is hope for you. You can repent and be healthy in life. It will take time and dicipline. Maybe much time and discipline. Of course no pain no gain. But what will a man trade for his own life? Clean Breathing, Clear Sight, Sound Hearing, Sensitive Feeling, Acute Smelling, Clear Mind, Beautiful Strong Physique, Inner Peace, Wonder, Enthusiasm, Joy, Courage, Power, Connection, Love! For What!? Lust? Entertainment? Taste of Food? Honor of man? Defence of ignorant ideals? Worldly Pleasure and Pride? Love of death. True Foolishness. Fast and pray and eat living clean food until all of your insides are cleansed and renewed and radiate vibrant with the light of life. And your skin and appearance and face will shine also as like unto angels. Repent. Have faith and continue in Holy living. Meditate, pray and fast. Get moderate sunlight and much fresh clean air and water. All diseases and cancers can be cured by holy living and Faith. Baldness can be reversed. Scars can dissapear. Teeth and limbs can be grown. Eyesight can be fully and truly restored. Hearing clean and crisp as streams of living water skipping and dancing. Most are literally sick, deaf and blind and don’t even know it. But you can truly be a Child of Life. As you probably once were, Seek and enter into the Kingdom of True Life. Paradise on earth, inside you, here and now. Have Faith! Faith is the key which unlocks all doors. Faith can create nee worlds. Trust me for you own sake. Get knowledge. Blessed be the one who heeds my instruction and follows, for he shall overcome himself and bring true life and peace and joy and loving power unto himself and all the world willing to receive him. Your heart will live forever. Jesus Christ Lives. He is Lord and King of kings. Your Father is God. I am your brother in truth. We are truth. We are life. We are love. We love you. Peace be with you.
Ironic cause you aren’t actually hungry. The ‘growls’ you feel isn’t hunger. It is your intestines moving food. We’ve got about 3-7 days of good in our stomach stored. So you definitely aint hungry you think you are.
Does the liquid calorie study and related criteria include something like oatmeal? Whenever I make oatmeal I feel like it’s a dessert, even when it has no added sugar or substitutes and I feel very hungry much sooner than other meals.
Man i have a question Can i do so easy exercises like wall pushup, romboid pulls, Australian pullups/bodo rows with feet deirectly under the bar; in count of 100 or 300 reps
I love walking on the treadmill—it’s where I watch YouTube. When I first started losing weight, it was the only exercise I could do. Ain’t no shame in that game.
What is your beginner wo like? Maybe you could give us an idea by showing the beginner/intermediate/advanced versions of an exercise or two. Hard to know if your program is appropriate for me.
How to fix khypotic and lordosis, because no one has made a tutorial as clear as Jeremy, can you help us, I’m sure it’s not just me, up
Stop talking about evolution.
Yeah I woke up feeling pretty rough on day 2, you know, headache and whatnot…so I just had a little cheeseburger and some fries
and I’m feeling ready to keep going and not break the fast…
intermittent fasting fixed my disordered eating.
Literally one day to the next from 1.6k to 3k+
What have I done to myself?
If I want to lose a few pounds ( the last 5), but want to gain more muscle, should I eat more or less calories ( female)? Thank you
I have a bit of confusion now so sm please help me, lets say I do the 16:8 fast.
My diet consists of a whole food diet which would be considered “calorie dense foods.” I’m not trying to lose weight I’m just broke lol
I was starting my fast today
(It’s 6pm and I haven’t eaten yet)
Watching this video made me realize I actually ate lots of rice and pizza and a soda yesterday.
I update on 03/06/2020
Well I forgot to update but I’m not really taking it seriously now but I lost around 1.1 kg in a week and I wasn’t eating healthy foods.
I always get so shaky and nauseated if I don’t eat all day. I’ve always wanted to try this, so I hope he addresses that. Only partway through.
I’ve been trying different work outs and diets but its not working, with intermittent fasting in two weeks I lose weight and I feel better.
The best diet is eat only when belly is bagging for food no matter after each hour or after a week your body tells you itself what is needs
I see a lot of people giving you crap about the bone broth. Bone broth is ok as long as you are fasting for weight loss. If you are fasting for autophagy, then no calories should be consumed. Water and minerals only.
So are you saying that even if you are intermittent fasting your metabolism will slow? I thought on your Fasting video you say this is not true.
Keep it up!
This video is perfect! It frustrates me when people with zero results preach these fad diets. Caloric deficit and high protein is the key to lose fat.

How to fix khypotic and lordosis, because no one has made a tutorial as clear as Jeremy, can you help us, I’m sure it’s not just me, up
Absolutely brilliant!
Gonna do this one! Hope I won’t loose much weight, but help fix digestion and bloating tummy. It’s easy to adapt, makes sense scientifically, why not!
Thank you for using fat loss instead of weight loss. I cannot tell you how it grates on my nerves when seemingly smart people keep talking about weight loss when they mean fat loss, like weight is a reliable measure in body composition
Hi Guys
I wrote about my experience doing a 22 day water fast here. Includes data from pre and post fast blood tests https://medium.com/@realkniels/how-a-22-day-water-fast-changed-my-life-84b48287144e
Hope it helps!
I’ve been doing this unintentionally and lost about 2 lbs a week I looked this up bc my friend told me I’ve been intermittent fasting lol kinda cool
How to fix khypotic and lordosis, because no one has made a tutorial as clear as Jeremy, can you help us, I’m sure it’s not just me, up
I am 3 days in to a 21-30 day fast ( depending on how my body feels ) I know that they said today would be the worst, but personally, I don’t feel that bad.
So my maintenance is 2,500 calories can I eat my maintenance calories and just work it out at the gym burn 500 calories to be in deficit?
I am in a training program that has me doing weight lifting m/w/f with 30 min LISS cardio those days.. except wed whic is leg day.. then in 30 min interval cardio on t/th/sat with rest day on Sunday.. I am 5’4 144.3 lbs and I haven’t lost a pound and I feel exhausted… how do I know if I am in the right programs? I do spinning for cardio..
Starting my weight loss journey hoping and praying for the best results
I know I can guys subscribe to my YouTube channel to see the transformation
For me I’ve literally been having a granola bar, apple sauce, and a protein shake for breakfast. Then for lunch usually a PB&J with green beans. And dinner i just eat normal whether it be Burgers, Pizza salad etc. I don’t drink soda, just water, milk, and Powerade. I dont have candy or junk food much ever. I have healthy snacks like dried fruit. I weigh 260 lbs and have lost 5 lbs so far this month
I am going to start doing this right now. I’m gonna try a week. I’ll update you every 2 days, please reply to this so I can remember to update you.
Fasting also drys your acne, pimples, makes your skin softer and much more clear, And also my hair stop shedding. Overall it’s good.
Is it possible for us who have had 2.0 for awhile to get the new updated version with the clickable links? Thanks for your efforts.
Or..?

Almost resorted to cannibalism on the third day cause my gf locked up the food. As soon as the fast ended, she ran and unlocked the safe as she realized that when I would look at anyone, I would salivate( in hunger not lust).
Hello Dorian! I take IGF1-LR3 and Ipamorelin/CJC and Testosterone. How will that affect my 16hr 72hr fast? Is it dangerous to fast while taking prescribed peptide/testosterone treatment? Thank you for your time!
as someone who is underweight, under 18, and possibly has diabetes/had at some point an ED, I feel called out by the “people who should not try intermittent fasting-” part
mostly because I did unhealthy fasting and binging for a while as a child (due to my ED)
like bro I came here cause I wanted to know what it was don’t call me out like that
Guys really it work to lose weight
My weight was 80, I tried to lose weight by going gym and doing lot of exercises
But my weight was stuck
But when I done intermittent fasting I lose 1.5 kg in one week
This really works
Great video. I recently started taking in less calories, & avoiding tons of carbs \ sugars. So far it’s helping, even though I run. I find that I’m re burning at a faster rate. I’m also staying away from frozen foods as well.
Totally makes sense. I was doing some of this stuff but didn’t know what part od it was effective. Now I get it. Thanks Jeremy!
I was with you until you said “starvation mode.”
I’m so happy…
(I also reduced carbohydrate intake and almost avoided sugar in drinks)

So lean meats and easy to digest greens are preferred.
just did my first 48 hours, I was aiming for 72 but had my shift in the restaurant, hopefully broke it with keto-food. Thanks for this video!
So just want to point out
if you are going to do dry fast, to start by hydrating yourself properly and eat more micro nutrients food and then do the dry fast.
I’m 15 years old can I fast for like a week I have heard that you lose weight and it actually makes some people talkers is it a good idea to try??
This is an amazing Channel and it has helped me with implementing healthy changes in my life style, however, A keto diet is amazing. Cutting out junk and giving the body time to replenish and disperse all the elements at its most efficiency, does wonders for the body. But as long as you eat the right foods, plenty of vegetables, little bit of fruit and if you want to have some organic farmers meats/fish as well and you are consistent, you will see results. Peace
Every time I try to fast is the time where my mom has the AUDACITY to bring I cream home and McDonald’s anddddd buys junk food for once
Its potassium deficiency. You need ALWAYS potassium (pills, potassium gluconate….take 4, 5) and Salt, NACL….magnesium might give you the runs….
a calorie is not calorie, different macro nutrients affect your body in different ways, carbs spike your blood sugars and there for your hormone insulin, which is your fat storing hormone
I’m on Day 1 of my water fast,
i’ve created a support group anyone can join on the App LIFE Fasting. Search the circle ‘2020 water fasting’:)
I love your content Jeremy, but *not* all calories are equal! Insulin spikes are important! What are your thoughts on The Obesity Code by Dr Fung?
This is so great! Thank you, Jeremy!! At least I’ve come half way through now for no. 2 and 3. Will try out more low density food! The fact is so fascinating. I love the idea that we keep ourselves full with better choices without starving ourselves.
Idk I think its a great way to burn fat but I find it very hard to maintain muscle fasting more than 16 24 hours. Thats just me.
Stay active. Eat healthy. Stay safe. Peace.
Though the main point of why keto works is insulin control, especially for those who are insulin resistant
All in all kick-ass video, thank you for your efforts!
Is not this the fast that I have chosen?
to loose the bands of wickedness,
to undo the heavy burdens,
and to let the oppressed go free,
and that ye break every yoke?
Isaiah 58:6 | KJV
Been doing intermittent fasting for the last 3 months. I’ve lost 24 pounds and I feel amazing. A few notes:
I don’t follow a restricted diet.
Good luck:)
Hi!
Very delicious recipe!) Thanks!
I am your subscriber! I would be glad if you subscribe to my channel 😉 I wish you success in all your endeavors with all my heart!)
Anyone starting this on keto, I reccomend doing a week on keto then introduce IF on week 2.
I did this and I found it easy to do 17hr fasting daily.
This guy really knows what he’s talking about… i haven’t seen any other of these people talk sense before. You have helped me loose weight!
How to fix khypotic and lordosis, because no one has made a tutorial as clear as Jeremy, can you help us, I’m sure it’s not just me, up
I just ate carrots and cucumber for two months. Reduced 8 kg but I had trouble with digestion for 4-5 days after I stopped carrot cucumber diet.
So how many scoops a day (the one recommended here) should I take a day, in order to match the recommended Sodium, Potassium and Magnesium intakes in this video?
Thanks! Amazing work!

Your a fucking idiot you didn’t fast at all why 60 hours why not the 72 hours you didn’t even manage 3 days. Your an excuse for a human.
Man i have a question
Can i do so easy exercises like wall pushup, romboid pulls, Australian pullups/bodo rows with feet deirectly under the bar; in count of 100 or 300 reps
I love walking on the treadmill—it’s where I watch YouTube. When I first started losing weight, it was the only exercise I could do. Ain’t no shame in that game.
Bone broth breaks fast. It also contains disease from the bone of the dead animal! Did you know it’s illegal for a butchers knife to hit bone!
What is your beginner wo like? Maybe you could give us an idea by showing the beginner/intermediate/advanced versions of an exercise or two. Hard to know if your program is appropriate for me.
