  • I feel that having a cheat meal once you’ve lost a certain amount of weight is a great reward and a goal to set your sights on so that you will do your best at losing the weight so that you can have the reward.   • All this stuff is great, but most of it is so expensive:( $30 for matcha powder or $30 worth of real groceries? Has to be the groceries. Four Sigmatic products are very expensive. I would literally have to choose between food or fancy powdered drinks. Unfortunately for a lot of us, the reality is we cannot afford these types of foods. I would love to incorporate matcha into my diet but I have to watch every nickel and it’s just not in the budget. I already work 2 jobs and summer is coming so I will start my 3rd seasonal job. Talk about stress!! The more I work to try to be able to afford stuff like this, the harder I am on my body, don’t sleep and run myself into the ground. Can’t win!!! Intermittent fasting and not drinking calories allowed me to reduce my body fat whilst maintaining my caloric intake because I understand and work with my body’s response to food.   • My additional advice would be to not overthink food too much. Go out with friends, order the meal you like and have a drink.
    Obsessing about every ingredient and every calorie can be the beginning of an eating disorder.

  • Seems like a few tips that come from a relatively normal person. Like a “peoples” person. Easy to understand and make a lot of sense to me.

  • Some pointers and observations.
    1. Most seafood now contains levels of mercury poisoning.
    2. Chicken nowadays has roughly the same amount of fat as beef and pork. This is due to the intensive breeding, storage and forced growth of these sentient creatures
    3. Dairy is a huge factor in weight gain. Cow milk is designed for calves to increase their weight by around 450kg in the 1st year of their life and contains a lot of animal fats, cholesterol and semantic cells
    4. Basing your diet on fruit, veg, nuts, grains and seeds will give you all of the nutrition you will need. I know that someone will mention vitamin B12, however this does not occur naturally in meat. Cow, pig, sheep, horse and chicken food all contains synthesised B12, but then again, so do most fortified foods now, like plant milks, cereals etc

    Think of your stomach as being like a baboon. When you add food to it, it expands until it reaches receptors n the outside. These will then send a signal to the brain to say that you are full, and to cease eating, regardless of the calories consumed. Now, let’s imagine that the stomach capacity holds 2 litres of digested food.

    1. Fill that stomach with 500 kcal of oil / fat you might use up perhaps 15% to 20% of the stomach capacity and would still be no where near full

    2. Try the same with animal flesh and you might get to 40% capacity

    3. Now try with leafed veg such as kale or spinach. you might end up only being able to manage 400 kcal before the stomach has fully expanded and the brain tells you to take a break which is why drinking water with meals allows you to feel full much sooner

    Personally, I dont restrict how much food i eat. I am constantly snacking from early morning 7am until late at night, but with fruit, veg, seeds grains and nuts. The very first thing that i do upon waking is a 1 litre container with warm water not cold containing 1 heaped teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda, pure lemon juice and a scoop of electrolyte powder as this helps to alkalise my body, replenishes hydration and gives my brain a much needed kick start for the day. I am able to run ultramarathons and have a fast recovery time because i pay attention to what i eat, so my advice would be for everyone to conduct their own research. Use multiple sources of information and don’t just rely on one person.

  • If you do tri, spend more time in the pool / open water. Generating heat to stay warm burns a tonne of calories. Be sure to ease into temperature changes gradually though as a sudden change puts you heart (left ventricle) under high stress. (So no jumping out of warm var +20 degrees into cold open water for example)

  • Grouping all oils as bad proves your ignorance. Natural ones like coconut are all natural and contain healthy fats. Also, animal fat is highly nutritious. Oils do not “clog arteries, give you oily skin and greasy hair.” All of these are unscientific claims.

  • You guys need to really consider that it’s probably not a good idea to promote weight loss tips when you clearly don’t need to lose weight and have not suffered with obesity. Many people looks at you two and see two very very skinny young women (maybe too skinny perhaps idk) so that fact you are promoting weight loss is completely barbaric and wrong. Furthermore, to some it even suggests anorexia or another eating disorder and you seem to live by many of these tips which you recommend for weight loss, which clearly don’t need to do ( as specially as you don’t want to use fats/oils, a common fear food for people with eating disorders). Please reconsider what you preach, especially as you are not medical professionals or people who need to lose weight or have struggled with obesity.

I’d like to add one of my all time favourite tips of yours aka including more veggies into your main course…it makes a huge difference! I used to eat 100g of pasta, still feeling unsatisfied after that and ending up eating lots of cheese. Then I decided to go vegetarian in January 2020 and to reduce animal products consumption (still not ready to go 100% vegan) and I’ve lost 3kg without any crazy diet, just thanks to some clever substitutions.
