  • Good info. Please address the effects of gluten on blood sugar levels. Even “low carb” items such as tortillas can be devastating to blood sugar levels. I am diabetic and have had disastrous levels from foods that are touted as safe. I realize not everyone has issues with gluten ( I didn’t know I did) but elimination of it can be so helpful in keeping blood sugar levels down.
    The Mission brand low carb tortillas claim 3 net carbs per serving. I had one after a test result of 85. Within 45 minutes I tested at 180. Terrifying!

I try to keep my carbs at 50 grams for each meal with a total of 150 grams a day.   • Get a rack on your bike and get some panniers for a ride and forget about the workout as you see the scenery..
    Not every bodies body is the same so what works for some does not work for all.

  • I believe it was Day 3 in Busy People Challenge, Daniel states that water weight is being lost during a workout.  Fat is also being lost (hopefully!).  Fat is comprised of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen.  When fat is burned it doesn’t exit the body as fat.  Fat is broken down into carbon dioxide and water.  Using stoichiometry, chemistry can calculate that we get a 80% carbon dioxide and 20% water breakdown.  So some of that weight is being breathed out as well.

  • Low carb/Keto is all done and good EXCEPT; I cannot use ANY type of artificial sweetener. Even Stevia is a no no for me. I am EXTREMELY sensitive to chemicals, and almost every sweetener has been treated/manufactured using a chemical, or, has chemicals added. Why should a person have to put chemicals into their bodies which can/will cause negative effects. ��

  • I have lost 20 kilos in 4 months. As soon as the pandemic started I turned to biking to manage my stress. I started riding 32 kilometers every day (6am) on my mountain bike but on a paved road, I was still stressed so I included an afternoon ride (6pm) also for 32k. In a little less than 4 months I have lost 20 kilos and I’m 5 kilos away from my target optimal weight. With a sugar-less diet, patience and a twinkle of OCD:) I have managed to keep the riding regimen and loving it.

  • Great tips. However, be adventurous with timing your food. Don’t take this video for granted and find what works for you. For me, losing weight is all about fasted cycling. I take my first meal around 3pm, while I cycling for 1-2 hours in the morning. Yes, its hard at the start, but your body will adapt. It will burn fat to get that energy.

    3 meals a day is something that needs to be challenged. See whats working for you and do that.

  • How to lose weight through cycling: Keep your eating habits the same and cycle set distances each week increasing until you start losing weigh or reduce the amount you eat and cycle a shorter distance. In the end you either eat less and cycle less or eat more and cycle more. There’s no trick to it, the more food you shove in your mouth the more exercise you need to do.

  • just turned 60 and for the past four years have been experiencing fatigue with no energy at all. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 2 years ago and I am taking medication for that. I’ve told my doctor repeatedly that I just seem so fatigued and I don’t have any energy at all. And on top of all this I have extreme cravings for carbs and sugar and if I don’t get it then I just have so much fatigue to the point that I have to lay down.   • Bullshit, you can’t lose a pound of fat a day. How did u measure? The only accurate method would be a dunk tank. 1lb of fat would be a 4K calorie deficit per day. In other words, fasting all day and running a marathon.

  • Hmmmm… While i was loosing my weight I was doing cardio 5 times a week (indoor cycling, 40 min on high intensity 36-37 km\h Resistence 6 out of 9) and within 2 months i managed to decrease my weight from 89 kgs to 74 kgs. 1 day of the week was devoted for heavy lifting and one of them for a complete chill out. Diet I almost entirely switched from meat to fishes and veggies. 5 6 small meals a day.

  • Another tip: If you will be eating after a ride, preplan and prepare post-ride meals. Before a ride you can more rationally process what you need and should eat after a ride. Don’t let your post-ride brain decide what is on the menu. This should vastly improve your ability avoid the post-ride binge.

  • Lots of people talk about commuting to work on a bike. but when i did it few times, there were no showers at work, i used to carry extra clothes, towel and a deodorant in the panniers. But it still was uncomfortable to work like that. Not a sustainable method, unless you don’t mind the lack of hygiene.

    This time I am focusing on the percentage of fat in my diet (my goal is 70% per day). This makes it simple for me. I stay away from processed sugar, bread and starchy veggies). This is my 3rd week, I don’t know how much weight I have lost but my clothes are definitely looser. I do 20/4 fasting window and 2 days per week I do a 36-40 he fast (been doing that for 2 years excluding thec3 months I was on keto last year).
    Because I am making all my own food with the exception of a supermarket chicken maybe once per week, I count net carbs,
    My goal is to keep them under 150g per day. I am finding that in reality I am averaging 94 net carbs per day. But do you have any research on 150g/day?
    Btw, I think the reason mine are at that level is I still include some fruit in my diet. Small amounts of watermelon or raisins or blueberries or strawberries. But not every day.

  • Ive been losing a steady 3 lbs a week, cutting out all fast food and soda, Light Exercises 4 days out of the week. No counting Calories or fat just keeping Carbs under 50mg a day. Things such as meat I eat all I want because it doesnt have any carbs.

  • I gain weight and feel very sick when I eat things like potatoes, rice, and pasta. So I tend to eat a lot of meat, leafy vegetables, and fruit and not a lot else. My friend gets really sick if they eat that way, and feel best eating lots of pasta. We both eat healthy and avoid processed foods, but I eat low carb and they eat high carb. Everyone is different.

  • I’ve recently just started watching your videos (a friend linked me to them) and, I have to say, they are amazing. This may be my favourite. I’m chronically ill, and I have good days and bad days. If I’m working, I usually can’t do much more than that (I’m so ill that my husband always has pre-frozen healthy meals for me I’m allergic to gluten and sugar, so we never have those Woolworths frozen meals, he actually makes them from scratch). It makes me feel so disappointed because, before I fell ill, I was capable of so much (I used to box, do pilates and go to zumba each week). For a while, whenever I had a “good” day, I’d exercise like crazy, and then I’d regress. However, now, I focus on the fact that I’m able to work. For a while, that was my focus. Now, I focus on the fact that, while I can’t exercise and work at the same time, because I’m a teacher, I do a lot of walking around often a minimum of 10,000 steps so now that’s my focus. And while I was feeling down about that this was “proud” for me, I love that you state that small walks a good. You should feel good about what you can accomplish. This video really inspires me.   • Why do we even eat dinner? Why not a big breakfast and lunch, a few snacks in the afternoon, and cut out dinner?if it’s planned correctly. You’ll won’t be hungry when you go to bed and even if you wake up hungry, you’ll have that big breakfast waiting. I may try this for a month and see what happens.

Simple on a two hour ride you dont need food your body take 45 min to burn it wast of time, eat with in 45 min after you ride if your hungry. My mane meal was at night and pancakes in the morning. Not eating big lunch because im riding at that time.

    My avarage speed in hills on 5000 to 10000 ft was 22mph. Flats 30+ im from Auburn ca, one of the best riding places in the world where a lot of Euro riders come to train.

That is why it is not recommended to re-use plastic water bottles. People end up with with many health problems due to eating and drinking with plastic. Also the microwave is so unhealthy radiation in your food very unhealthy. Pre prep>pre plan meals>set a goal to be healthy with loved ones. Ive Watch your videos on how many carbs to have for low-carb versus keto and my dilemma is I’m trying to figure out the appropriate macro for fat and protein if you’re doing low-carb, not keto. Because if you’re doing low-carb and you’re eating no more than 75 g of carbohydrates per day then what percentages should your fat / protein macro be set at so that your not being counter productive and just eating high fat.   • My challenge is that I don’t want to lose any more weight but still stay in ketosis. I have been on keto for 10 months, not for weight loss but to reverse insulin resistance and get rid of my kidney stones which I managed to do with prolonged fasting several times, however, I wasn’t over weight to begin with but the weight came off any how. I didn’t mind losing 15 pounds but I don’t want to lose any more. I don’t even exercise for fear of losing more weight.   • I seem to gain weight within a day( measuring waist ) If I eat more than 40 carbs a day, eaven on 1000 calorydiet/ day. I seem to get a smaller waist If I stay under 20 gr/day on a 1000 calory diet. Then I get carbs from dairy, eggs, vegetables, nuts.   • You can eat 150g of carbs a day and still lose weight, providing that is your main source of fuel and 90% of the calories are coming from whole food. The standard western diet is high in refined carbs, and high in saturated fat, which leads to obesity

  • I’d read that one should never eat more than 8 almonds a day, because after 8 almonds, ones body will have reached maximum absorbtion for those nutrients, and the rest of the almonds just add additional fat.   • I’ve been really impressed by your approach, attitude and by your videos. I’ve been doing your… yeah, HIIT Like a Girl (hey, I’m 52 and never “HIIT” before) videos and so far I can just barely keep up with Kelli all the way through. Ok, so I do hit pause every now and then for another 30 seconds to catch my breath. HIIT II is an especially good workout for me when I’m not bicycle commuting (it’s cold here in winter!) with the warm-up and cool-down. It’s a very complete video (I even like the progress bar on the right… great idea).

    The filming is clean, you can see what you’re supposed to be doing, the narration is clear and psychologically encouraging. I am recommending you guys to others. Hope you are doing well with this. Hard to believe you’re doing this in your garage.

  • I’m a fan of the step down method, but it requires getting over the quick fix mentality. It’s easy to get discouraged when watching or reading claims of 60 lbs in 2 months, but 5 lbs a month might be a realistic goal.

  • I am almost 50. Was very out of shape for many years. My max weight was $342. I started a regiment of circuit training workouts at a gym. And found some success with that. However my body could not hold up to the exercise while losing weight. My joints hurt and fatigued. So I do take supplements prescribed by my physician to aid in the recovery of my joints. It does seem to help to some degree. Should I continue with the supplements? Or is there a healthier alternative to help my joints recover after physical activity?
