  • This is one of the most authentic key lime pie recipes I’ve seen. So many of them add sour cream which key west didn’t have access to at the time. Eggs from the many key west chickens, key limes, and canned sweetened condensed milk! I’ve had it with a meringue top as well. Also you can get bottled key lime juice — could just be available in Florida, but it saves you from having to squeeze a lot of key limes!

  • Traditional Key Lime Pie uses meringue, not whipped cream. You’re separating out all those yolks for the filling, so what are you doing with the leftover whites? Use them to make meringue!

They were serving cheese burgers in paradise when Jimmy Buffett was still in the college circuit. Those king steak sandwiches have caused more fight’s than a whore in church on Sunday. Anita and Kutchie’s Pies have caused traffic jams of people trying to get in there for those key lime pies. They are wonderful pies.   • Does anybody even try these recipes? I just did. But only the graham cracker part cause I wanted some biscuits to eat lmao. It’s a good recipe. But here are the things I’d change the next time I make these (as crackers only)

    I’d add the brown sugar to the wet ingredients and making sure it’s completely dissolved. My biscuits had sugar granules or the surface.
    I’d roll the dough out a little thinner cause mine were a little hard to bite on.
    I’d reduce the time in the oven. I baked them for 8 min. Next time I’d go with 6 minutes and finish them off in the residual heat of the oven for 1 min maybe.

  • I made this pie exactly except for the condense milk and its pretty good. The only problem is, is that the filling is way too sweet. The first bite is good but it very hard to finish a whole slice. I think I understand now why some people put in sour cream or yogurt. Maybe your condense milk is not as sweet as store bought?   • Native of the Florida keys here ��‍♀️��‍♀️ key limes are actually yellow when ripe. So regular limes were used in this video. And if yall used green key limes, then the limes weren’t ripe bc they’re only green when unripe.

  • This pie is addictive and incredible. I’m about to make it for the third time (first time with actual key limes since my husband found them in the grocery store yay!).
    I will say, my crust ends up being much thicker than his so I think the cracker amount should be less. Also, I wish he included the condensed milk recipe in this video because the amount of condensed milk needed here is more than in the pumpkin pie video. I use 2 cups (16oz) instead of 14oz condensed (caramelized) milk, which I make from 4 cups (goat’s) milk + 3/4 cups heavy cream + 1 & 1/4 cup sugar.

    Key Limes are ripe when they turn yellow.. The limes on the pic of the vid are green which will make the pie more bitter than it will be smooth.. even if you load up on sugar… Plus the color of your pie is wayyyy off. Cheers from the KeyLime pie state.

  • So i did everything by scratch however I took the grams out and I think because I left them as 1 whole piece they didn’t cook all the way through so turning it into gram dust was a nightmare lol. That said i started this at 4pm its now 9pm and I took out the gram crust after leaving it for 5 extra mins because of how dense I packed it into a square 8×8 lol end result think darker brown crust with some sweet key lime custard. If I wasn’t so anxious to start this recipe I would of prepared everything before hand not just doing it along with the video. Didn’t know this took awhile to make ��

  • This was great. I made a Key Lime pie once. I followed a recipe I found, and when finished placed it in the fridge before serving. It looked fantastic. I took it out, sliced it, and served it to family. Before we could even put a fork into it, it melted before our eyes. We now had graham cracker crust with melted key lime on top. So I went and retrieved spoons and announced we were having key lime ice cream pie.

  • Warning for everybody trying to make this:
    There are WAY too much graham crackers needed for this recipe, about 2x as much. Also, don’t expect the crackers to be as light and colorful as they are in the vid. It literally has the same color as mud and presenation looks awful. Store bought stuff is literally better than this recipe.

  • This should be labeled as a no bake lime cheesecake. 1: you didn’t use key limes and 2: key lime pie is made with a curd. Which doesn’t involve cream cheese.

So if u find this comment I just wanna let you know that I actually tried the recipe and here’s what happened: 1) My graham cracker inflated a bit but it’s probably bc I live in Mexico and the altitude is different here (didn’t change the results tho, it was totally fine and had zero problems making the crust). 2) The crust came out thicker than I expected so make sure u use a big ass pie container bc if not you’ll get more crust than filling. 3) The filling was a little too acidic for me so if u don’t want this to happen use 1/3 of lemon juice instead of 1/2. 4) My pie didn’t have the same solid consistency that he got in the filling. I’m honestly not sure if it was bc of the time I left cooking it (although I did it w the time he said but maybe it’s again bc I live in Mexico) and I did left it overnight. Overall I really liked this and will probably do it again. I’m hoping this will help someone! Good day!

    Ingredients:

    Graham crackers, 1/2 cup crushed

    Sugar 2 tbsp

    pinch of salt

    unsalted butter, 2 tbsp, melted

    Mix in bowl

    Cream cheese 4oz

    condensed milk 1/3 cup

    heavy cream 1tbsp

    Beat together until smooth

    key lime juice 3tbsp

    key lime zest 1/2 tsp

    Stir into wet mix

    Pack the base of 4 small mason jars with graham cracker base

    Divide wet mix into the 4 jars

    Cover and refrigerate 1 hour

    Heavy cream 1/3 cup

    2 tbsp icing sugar

    whip into soft glossy peaks

    Top cooled pies with whipped cream

    Sprinkle crushed graham crackers and lime zest

    Makes 4 servings

  • Hello! I just made this and my mixture after adding the sweetened condensed milk is very thin.. after beating with the lime juice, its became even thinner and did not set at all in the oven. What did I do wrong? ��
