  • This maybe a little off the subject but I believe that a plant based diet helps with weight loss. However with this life style you still have to be aware of calories. When they say you can eat endless amounts of plants that is not true. Legumes like beans for a half cup is a 100 to 120 calories. Lentils for a third of a cup is 130 calories. That is pretty high considering that you have to eat large amounts to get full. At least I do. I think you can eat unlimited amounts of green leafy veggies. However when it comes to potatoes, grains, nuts and beans you still have to be aware of your portions.

  • Thanks so much for sharing this great talk by Michael! He’s such good value always, and an amusing and engaging speaker. My hubby and I are living proof of what he says about the whole-food plant-based lifestyle and weight loss. For the last several months, my hubby has at last decided to eat only what I give him and cut out all the junk he was eating between meals. He’s also been attending a weight loss club on the recommendation of our doctor but not following their diet! He has lost on average 1-2 lb each week and everyone is now remarking on how slim he is looking. Recently he was suffering severe muscle pains and discovered it was a side effect of the statins which he stopped taking. He informed the doctor of this two or three weeks later and he called him in to have a cholesterol test. His cholesterol level and blood pressure had plummeted to normal and the doctor said it was like looking at the result of a different individual altogether. When he can get around to having another sleep test, we are hoping he will be able to dispense with his C-pap machine as well, as he believes his obstructive sleep apnoea has disappeared too.

    I lost most of my weight over several years doing intermittent fasting, but when I discovered this way of life I gave that up, and now eat as much as I like of all this gorgeous whole-food plant-based food and the weight has continued to fall. We are living proof that this works. I’ve become such an advocate for this way of life, but am suffering a lot of resistance from the rest of the extended family! I think this is probably because they can see the evidence with their own eyes, but are not prepared to make the change, thinking, as I once did, that it would be impossible to give up meat, eggs and cheese, and we are a constant challenge to them and they don’t like it!

    People will find any excuse not to do this if they can, and they are not helped by the aggressive marketing of all the junk so-called food, and all the misinformation and confusion arising from bad advice from the medical profession and governments who have no idea about nutrition, and who are motivated by funding and political pressure from big ag and the processed food industry. As Michael says, there’s no profit in a few cents’ worth of spices, or in broccoli. And all around us we see people getting fatter and sicker and dying and being too fat to fit in their coffins… and every year, more and more is spent on so-called health care!! What a sick world to be sure.

  • Tip for u matt stonie if u have 4 meals and 3 of them is spicy whilr the other one is freshing like the tomatoes and lettuce dont eat all of them first save them until u feel the spice then eat them but not all so that it wont be that spicy and u can keep on eating
