Current studies, as well as Ayurvedic medicine, know that high quality oil and fat helps in weight loss. It all depends on the physical constitution and the digestive capacity.   • well remember people that 100 grams of carbs is about 400 kcals and if you eat 50 gram each meal, 2 meals a day with protein and water +salt. You can manage it, He does not mean you should go LOW carb under 25 grams a day, he just say low carb, THere is liberal Low carb also (100-150 grams) a day, I think u Can get away with easy 100 grams of carbs a day without getting keto flue and still manage under 800 calories. Eat Fiber. I will try it:P

  • Found your channel when I decided to give up sugar back in February. I like your videos in part because of the gentle approach; you don’t try to bully or shame people. Your 0 1 2 3 plan got me into everyday salads this year. My favorite homemade dressing is made from olive oil, apple cider vinegar, spicy brown mustard and lemon juice, with spices added. Its cheap to make and very tasty. Just curious did you go out and buy those sugary bottled dressings just to be able to show us the ingredients on the video?!

  • Looking at your salad, makes me think that I’m completely overloading mine and possibly with the wrong stuff! (Red onion, bell peppers, cauliflower, chicken AND avocado AND a mature cheese.) What do you suggest I change? Also, I’ve found my body reacts to nuts…not anaphylactic, but slight wheezing. Do you think this will ever go away, so I may enjoy these wonderful treats again?   • I’ve been successfully stumbling forward in this direction and then found this. perfect. still chicken salmon some good beef I feel is ok.

  • If he stole from Keto, which advocates virtually NO carbs, then why did he say he doesn’t think it is good to eat low carb all the time?!?! The 5:2 diet is great and very sustainable. The main thing is to eat healthy, real food, not processed junk and and have treats as treats, not regular food!!

  • 12 weeks on 800 calories a day? You serious? Have you read the Minnesota starvation experiment? This is a recipe for disaster. 800 calories for 2 weeks max. Then at least 2 weeks break with maintenance calories. Or you are for sure gonna start to go into starvation mode and this will have after effects for a long time.

  • I remember doing this 30yrs ago almost, didnt even know I was doing someting amazing back then, but it worked!! after having my son, i was loosing weight so fast during the week and on weeksends i was eating normal foods. I need to do this again. Lost about 15 / 18 kg by restricting calories intake during the week i was eating ” limit ” biscuits that no longuer exsist and then eating normal foods on week ends

I’m still a bit confused about fats, I was led to think we needed a good amount of healthy fats for optimum brain function. So during weight loss, with a minimum to no amount of nuts/avocado/seeds, could you please tell me if it effects brain function? Is it OK to have non of these in your diet?   • 800 kcal/day x 9-12 weeks = 14 kg weight loss. 800 kCal = Low carb: after 10 h fasting = sleeping + 2 h, then kicks in the fat burning cycle.

  • I have been doing the 5:2 diet for a couple of weeks, and have lost 7 pounds already. I find it has helped reduce my appetite on non-fasting days, which in turn also helps with weight loss!

  • Becky, I’d love to see your opinion on the comparison of the nutrients in nuts/seeds to nut butters. I try to avoid nuts/seeds for digestive tract issues, but are nut butters a good and equal alternative for the reasons you added walnuts and sunflower seeds to your salad?

  • this is a little irritating as I was doing the dukhan diet when the 5.2 came out and I was doing around 800 calories a day on that as I found it very manageable.
    But I knocked it on the head. I’ve recently gone on the 5.2 and found it even better. But now I’m not so sure lol.

  • Well as they say, this is for fas and then ypu should swich over to forexampel 5:2. I am doing 5:2 and feel gret but think I might do 800 for maby 2 or 3 weeks and then go back to 5:2 or 5:1

  • Eat way, way more greens. I use a mixing bowl. My svg is “for 4 ppl” lol so eat 6-7 cups and add other fibrous vegs too. Make sure your protein is about 28g at LEAST per meal. I eat omad so i eat 56-70g protein in n with my salad.
    But even for just 1 meal out of 3, eat way more greens/lettuces.

  • Yeah this ain’t good! And how is he calling 800 calories fasting?! How about, eat a good amount of calories, low carb and intermittent fast? That would work better. As others have mentioned, just eating a very low calorie diet and 3 square meals a day is disaster! Your metabolism will plummet!

  • Have a look at the biggest loser show, a huge calorie deficit, then the body slows metabolism, do this a few times and you may never get your metabolism humming along again. Quackery, and follow the money. He didn’t invent I.F (intermittent fasting), we have fasted for all of our existence, until the last 60 to 80 years. Slow and steady move your breakfast an hour at a time, to increase the fasting length, water or black tea,or coffee, will help, and won’t break a fast, but there have not been a lot of scientific studies on fasting, especially for fat loss.   • This diet BS is getting old! Mosley, everyone knows if you eat 800 cals you will lose weight but it is also proven that weight wise, it will cause metabolic adaptation and will create in the long term, more issues than the poor person started with. Shame on you Mosley!

  • This is a no shit thing. If you’re consuming 2000 calories daily, and then randomly consume 800 daily, you’re gonna lose some weight. After you get off the diet, you’ll go back to your shitty habits and gain it back and be confused as to why you’ve gained weight. The funny thing is that this isn’t even realistic!

    However, it seems this is not the case for someone who struggles with PCOS. It is recommended to substitute carbs with healthy sources of fat like coconut oil, avocados, nuts, and tahini so basically a low-carb-high-fat diet. What is your recommendation?

  • Thank you SO muchI see my salad was too big! BTWgive Flax oil a try as a salad oilit actually tastes very good, like walnuts. I use 2 hard boiled eggs (14g protein), a whole small avocado (they just don’t keep well once cut), from my garden: small cucumber, a tomato, if a red pepper is ready I’ll toss half of that in too. Greens include flavorful savoy cabbage, and some chard leaf from the garden in a handful of lettuces. I guess I need to cut my salad in half!

  • I’ve always found im more satisfied when I have a big great salad, and it just makes me feel good, I do this everyday, lots of spinach, and spring mix, my salad bowl is huge. I add organic tomato’s, grated parmesan cheese, feta, the dressing is avocado oil with a lot of ground up peppercorn inside, and i add roasted soybeans for crunch. Great salad!!!! ����

I am still a bit confused however on fiber.. I cook with chic peas all the time and use Chia flax and hemp seeds in smoothies to break my fast.. where do beans belong in the low carb diet?   • I would increase the protein content because at 13.3 grams of protein, it is not enough. We should consume at least 20 to 30 grams of protein per meal. Fortunately, in this salad which seems delicious, it is easy to add protein like eggs, meat, fish, etc… even if it adds calories to the salad because protein is SO important.

  • With fast food it’s easy. Take your pick about skipping the mayo(50-100cals), cheese(20-40cals), dressing/sauce (15-100cals), bun and burrito tortilla is usually 200cals, etc. It’s pretty easy. Go for a burrito bowl instead and skip the side of chips.
    All lot of places will even give you a low carb option by wrapping your burger in lettuce. Subway will even scoop out the bread filling for you! That fillet O-Fish can be 270cals easy if you skip the tartar and cheese and ask for pickles instead

  • I make this spring mix salad 2X a week (also from Costco). I also add avocado and/or an egg, and mixed nuts. If I don’t use egg, I’ll have a can of sardines in olive oil on the side. My dressings consist of EVOO, MCT oil, ACV, balsamic vinegar, and freshly ground peppercorn. Also on the sides are pickled cucumber, olives, and sauerkraut.

  • This looks great but where are the flaxseeds for the omega-3? Sunflower seeds, walnuts, avocado are all omega-6. So you have to balance it out with more omega-3’s.

  • Just started the fast 800 we don’t follow it as strictly we start eating at 12 pm and finish at 8pm I started Monday today is Thursday and I’ve already lost 4lbs

  • My salad comes out at around 1800 calories on OMAD. I make around 7-10 cups and it’s an excellent way to balance my macros. It’s the meal I enjoy the most, this is just one example

  • Alternate Day Fasting IS NOT A DIET. This is done for health reasons. Lowering insulin resistance for instance.
    True Alt. Day Fasting is eating nothing on fast day.
    Modified Alt. Day Fasting is eating up to 600 calories after fasting part of the day. Not as effective.

  • I don’t know if really enjoyed the choices in this vide for a low calorie fast food
    options. I think these are commercialized fast food places, and you could have chosen more healthier options from them at least. I do understand your choices because of your vegetarian approach.

  • My go to “healthy fast food” is the southwestern grilled chicken salad from McDonald’s!! It’s only 450 calories! And it’s pretty large so that’s like my whole dinner

  • Like someone said earlier, taco bell has the fresco stuff, so if I go there I always do the soft chicken taco fresco style and I think its about 150 calories! And then McDonalds grilled artisan chicken sandwich is pretty good too and is about 350

  • Listening to how you said AJ that even an ounce of nuts a day stalled your weight loss makes me think about all the recent info coming out about the complexity and impact of our gut microflora, some aspects of which are genetic and for sure related to the circumstances of our birth, lifetime trauma, etc, and how people prone to obesity absolutely have different gut flora. Also, how plant foods give us and feed the gut bacteria that promote leanness and reduce inflammation. Could be that you, and others, have an adverse result in the gut from nuts. And could be true for oils. Dr. Will Bulsiewicz’s new book “Fiber Fueled” covers this. He would be a great guest on your podcast.

  • I liked the 5:2. I did it for 8 months back in 2013 and lost about 40 pounds. I’ve kept that weight off ever since, as it seemed to somehow re-set my eating. I think the 5:2 is more do-able than 800 a day.

  • Do you need to reverse most of your insulin resistance and lose weight before the benefit of Intermittent Fasting makes your set point lower? I’ve actually tried IF and low carb for like 3 1/2 months when I was almost obese and I didn’t lose a single pound.

  • With real adf the weight melts off SUPER fast and it’s awesome, I eat one awesome breakfast every other day and I’m loving it, fasting has changed my life 55 pounds and counting!!
