  • This is so true. Everything must be eaten in moderation (except the free calories she was talking about you can’t get enough of those). I’m a HUGE Cashew nuts lover and I would eat a whole heap of them at once and I wouldn’t sweat bc it’s “healthy” but I never realized it was 170 calories per serving (1/4 cup). Yes it’s good calories and it’s better than eating a bag of chips but it will still make you gain weight. I’m starting to read the nutrition facts to everything I buy now and I look for things that have the lowest sugar, sodium, and fats but a good amount of protein.

I’ve used it for apple slices which gives the house a delicious, festive aroma for days. I may have trouble slicing the root veggies thin enough, though.   • Is eating all about metabolism, or is it also partly about psychology, and to what extend does our changing world (more stress, more demands….) also play a role in the equation? I mean, there are things like “comfort food”, or eating something with a lot of sugar, not because one is hungry, but to reward oneself after having done something good or important etc. We do not only eat because we need energy to move around, lift things up, jump around, carry bags. We also eat and drink because we love company, because we like to reward ourselves, because we’re lonely or anxious or happy or…. I know they don’t play a role for babies and toddlers etc. but they might for their parents. And of course, what also changed is the constant exposure to ads: the rise of the internet and the new social media allowed advertisers to constantly tempt viewers. 30 years ago, there were magazines and ads alongside the roads, on bridges, in football stadiums, on children’s TV programs etc. Today, this exposure probably has doubled. Each day, probably a 100 times more people will have heard or seen Coke ads than Dr. Lustig’s exposé.

It would be incredibly difficult to consume excessive amounts of fructose by eating whole fruits. However, if you drink it, then you consuming large amonts of fruit sugar, which is bad!
