  • what other substitudes can i use other than ground turkey? coz im living in asia and turkey quite rare and expensive. all red meats are quite high in price due to import taxes too. Im left with chicken. What part would be nice since we need alittle bit of fat? breast would be too dry right

  • Looks thick and yummy. Love how you made your chili spices and didn’t use prepackaged spices.
    I will definitely try this!!

  • People who put beans in their Chili don’t know beans about Chili, that said this recipe is kinda lacking starting with no onions, and the spice blend is rather weak and when cooking Chili I like to have some spicy sausage mixed in with the beef and a 1/2 a bottle or so of beer helps the flavor as does tomato paste hot and Smokey paprika also help build the flavor profile as does a minced jalapeño or two and bell pepper. If you want to be lazy use a box grater on the onions bell pepper and jalapeño lastly I like to lightly toast my spices and herbs to build flavor the key word is lightly because burn spices and herb are never a good thing one last thing pass on the masa and just use the crumbs in the bottom of you tortilla chip bag

  • Beautiful. Us Mexicans don’t really like to compliment foreign food (and less coming from Americans), but this one is absolutely gorgeous. Thank you man!

  • Pretty sure this is a stupid question, but is the chili powder like this: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/A1kF54rwD%2BL._AC_SL1500jpg

  • Woooow!!!!!! My family gobbled this up soooo quickly!!!!! I froze some of it because it was a huge pot. I had to thaw it all out the next day because they were demanding it! Haha! I only made minor changes. I had just about ALL of these ingredients in my house already. I didn’t have beef consommé so I used one tbs of “better than bouillon” in 2 cups of water. And just regular canned beans, not the “chili” versions. Even better the next day.

  • Just made you recipe for a my post work out meal for the week, it tasted great! The only difference is that I seasoned the turkey with onion powder and oregano, and aded some hot chili seasoning. Also next time, I think I will put less water so it all fits in the pot.

  • I so love how you literally have incorporated all the different parts of your life that we have seen and grown to love from your snap onto your YouTube channel. I have loved all your videos and I’m sure I’ll continue too.

  • I’ll be making this recipe again for the 3rd time in 2 months. We love it. I omitted the bacon and celery and I doubled the peppers. Thank you for the recipe. My first chili recipe and I love it and so does my honey. (He’s usually the chili maker). Again thanks for my go to chili recipe. Delicious!❤

  • Remember whem the cooking channel actually taught you how to cook? I think we all know how to brown meat and open cans at this point. Bring back the art of cooking.

  • Well, now its the hardest part. waiting the six hours. Everything came together great! Smell good. The chilli sauce is perfect…..now I have to wait.

  • Hi Dr. Hyman what if i am only using 1 pound of ground turkey how much of the chili powder would i use how much coriander would i use and how much how much cumin? and how much paprika and how much oregano i am thinking of making this? please let me know?

  • I made this without the bacon, celery and Worcestershire sauce and it still turned out great! I added an extra jalapeño to the recipe and then added some extra seasoning salt to the batch in the last hour. Also I drained the beans before I added them to the mix to help thicken it up a bit. Anyways, thanks for the recipe, I enjoyed it very much. I’m planning to add bacon next time, and maybe an extra bell pepper. I may even add another can of beans just to thicken it up a bit more

  • To be honest there is no “perfect ” pot of chili. Every one has their own way of preparing. Where they grew up, how mom made it, preferred ingredients etc. The perfect pot of chilli is the one you make for yourself the way you like it.

  • great recipe, have you tried to put some good chunks of dark chocolate into the mixture?, i do in my recipe, it makes it prime:)

  • At the end I heard a pup sneezing ❤️ I can’t wait to try this recipe, I love chili so I’m excited to try such a great looking dish! It’s getting really cold where I live so this is perf!

  • Let’s all just agree that everyone makes chili differently and retract the claws. This video is to get ideas and be entertained. Ok…

  • Hey man thank you for posting this recipe. I eat Turkey Chili from the Muscle Maker Grill and I was searching for something just like this to cook at home. I plan on preparing this as a meal over a bed of lettuce. Thanks again!

  • Why not just use tomatoe paste to make it thicker or simmer longer? Or is there a specific reason you used masa? Or is there some scientific reason not to use tomatoe paste

  • Please help me out with this question…

Why do you along with many popular chefs (including Guy Fieri and Laura Vitale to name two chefs I’ve seen do this lately) add:

    smoked paprika
    garlic powder
    cayenne pepper
    onion powder
    dried oregano.
    ground cumin

To their dishes (mainly chili but other dishes as well)

And then add Chili Powder which is simply a mix of the same:

    smoked paprika
    garlic powder
    cayenne pepper
    onion powder
    dried oregano
    ground cumin

It’s an honest question that I, as an aspiring great cook, truly want to know.

It seems odd and just doesn’t make any sense that I can surmise.

  • Watched this recipe and just knew I had to try it. I started it yesterday late at night and was planning on having it for lunch time meal. But hey, I guess it’s okay to eat chili for breakfast….RIGHT? It smelled so good, I couldn’t wait to get out of bed this morning! Amazing! So after a half bowl of tasting, I decided I really need to make it more of a breakfast meal so I poached two eggs and put it on top of another full bowl and had it with some garlic toast made from Italian bread. Wow, can’t wait for dinner time tonight to have another bowl. Great recipe…..thanks so much for sharing! I’ll be making this a lot!!!

  • I like chili on the thinner side. What is the best liquid to add just to thin it a little more, because it looks perfect otherwise.

  • the recipe looks amazing cant wait to try it…. i will just have to remove the bacon part for religious reasons but definately trying it soon…. i could fall asleep to your soothing voice

  • Can’t wait to try this! How long would you say this would last in the fridge? I would love to meal prep with it just don’t know how long it would be good for lol

  • HELLO NICE TO MEET YOU, I found your channel looking for a crockpot chili recipe. We live in PITTSBURGH PA. Looking forward to watching previous and present videos. HAPPY NEW YEAR

  • im thinking of making you chili recipe and make a video of me making it is that okay with you my channels called mekhiscooking please let me know

  • My first crockpot meal wanted it to be ready for work in the morning annoying thing is now I can’t sleep I’m Too excited for chili –

  • I’ve never seen a recipe for chili without chili powder. Did you just forget to mention it or do you actually make chili without chili powder?

  • awesome Derek I’m making it this week.Derek I hope you motivate more people into making home cook meals something that lot of people don’t do

  • I think cheese is the standard topping for chili. It’s kind of hard to think outside of the box on that when people are using chili as a topping for meals. Chili dogs, chili fries, chili burgers… I’m going to roam the comments to see what people say.

  • After frying up the hamburger meat, use a potato masher to break up the meat. One other thing, instead of white sugar, use dark brown sugar. Gives it a more robust flavor. Oh yeah, add tablespoon white wine vinegar while frying the meat to add a little acidity to it.

  • I made this recipe today and am excitedly awaiting the results as I send this. I enjoyed the narrator so very much. She was a pleasure. Both knowledgeable and pleasant.I’m doing mine on the stove top this time, but will give the crock pot a go next time!! Thanks again for a fantastic recipe and great presentation!!! Regards!!

  • Hi! Thank you for this useful video. By the way, I notice a lot of people keep on talking about Fenoboci Diet Plan (look on google search engine), but I’m not sure if it is really good. Have you considered Fenoboci Diet Plan? I’ve heard many amazing things about it and my cooworker lost crazy amounts of weight with it, but she refuses to tell me:(

  • I used your recipe for my first attempt at making chili for a potluck at work and it was a smash! My chili was the first to go! I just made a few subtle changes with the spice blend and added a chuck roast I smoked for several hours along with the ground beef. I also used fire roasted tomatoes and three jalapeños. Thank you so much for sharing your recipe! It’ll be in rotation at my house for a very long time.

  • I cooked your beef and noodle dinner once it came out great! Not bad for me since I’m not a cook. Thank you Ree Drummond for teaching me basic cooking skills! You are a blessed woman.

  • I’ve been a sub for a long time and not only is it your recipes and simplicity of them that keep me coming back for more. But, how in the description you put all the ingredients weighed out and then you do the calories..
That small thing is what has you way ahead of the pack. I get so tired of watching a video and the host saying “add 2 scoops of protein or 1 can of tomatoes”..
Well my scooper is normally not the same size as yours and I can’t tell the size of can you’re using!
Lol Thank you very much for everything you do! =p

  • Up until last week, my “healthy” meals always consisted of plain ground beef w/ canned vegetables and plain cooked chicken breast with brocolli and carrots. My marriage was tetter tottering on the edge because I wasn’t being considerate of my wife’s taste buds. I came across your super easy slow cooker meals and started adding them to my arsenal. Now my wife is happy, my family is back in order. Thank you kind sir you saved my marriage.:)

  • Great recipe!! You can also brown the turkey & throw everything in the slow cooker on low for the day, especially if you’re doubling the batch. Sour cream & cheese is the best topping for me.

  • Only a sweet person could own a dog like Amigo. Can you imagine Hitler with a dog like Amigo?  He would have remained an artist and we could have skipped the whole Holocaust nightmare thing.  They say you can tell a lot about a man by the shoes he wears, I think you can tell so much more by the dog a man shares his life with.  Beefcake is clearly a saintly dork.  Sigh….so dreamy.

  • This recepie looks amazing! I am planning on making it on Christmas for my family, I am in a little of a pickle here, or more like a peper
One of my family members is very much against Peppers, won’t eat anything that has them in it (The spice itself is fine)
Any thoughts on how can I get away with it? Cook the Peppers on the side so they can be added later? Or replace them with anything else?

  • Made this last night. doubled the recipe and made a mess, lol Made a huge bowl of it. Just needs a little salt to taste. Derek why do you try to use low sodium products?   Also more bulk recipes please. It would help us, who mas cook boring chicken and broccoli every week.

  • what would happen if I only consumed this? I’m a bit lazy in the kitchen and could care less if its the same meal over and over. I would eat this 4 times a day every day for the next 2 months while bulking. Would this be okay?

  • why do you use all these canned/pre cut veges, they add so much shit to them that isn’t good for you. Takes like 10 seconds to cut up a chili and some garlic.

  • I’ve made your chili twice…I use my Dutch oven…and I did add some leftover red wine….used fire roasted tomatoes last time..but everything else was the same and we love it!!!! My husband especially loves it and that makes me happy!

  • When considering eating healthy, you must try not to fall victim to modern day fad diet plans. Extreme diet plans undoubtedly are a threat for your health, especially ones that seriously limit your daily nutritional intake. Many of these fad diet plans work for a short period of time and then the benefits decrease after a while. You should look up Fenoboci Diet Plan on google as it is not just another fad diet where you starve yourself.

  • I made your recipe once and I am going to make it again this week!!! Its so tasty! I ate it with brown rice if I want to get some extra complex carbs in. How long do you think I can conserve this? Last time I only conserved this for 2 days. ❤

  • I don’t ever use store bought chili seasoning. I always use a bunch of hot sauces, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, and A1 steak sauce and honey and some other “secret” seasonings lol. I know it’s probably not great for you but it’s damn good.

  • I have to say I am so annoyed by cooks not understanding peppers! The seeds generally do not count! Period! The heat is from the white membrane vanes in the interior, that is where the heat is. Seeds add a little extra heat but nothing compared to the membrane! Look it up on something about chili heat and peppers and you will learn a lesson. Also, people think a Jalapeno is not that hot because they eat pickled ones from a can, Take a fresh green one and take a bite out of it and get back to me when you’re done crying the second time! (Second meaning the toilet!!) TEXAS pepper education for free.

  • I got your name off my Skillet that I just bought a nice iron skillet anyway I’ve got everything in my kitchen to make your chili and that’s what I’m making tonight girlfriend thank you so much from another country Gal.!

  • Looks simple enough have everything but the masa (matsa?) on hand. If they are cattle ranchers, it surprises me she cooks with store bought beef.

  • There were some comments on Google news that said The Pioneer Woman has never really had healthy and skilled cooking recipes. Well..don’t listen to trolls who are just jealous of you. Some of my best recipes are your recipes that I have put in my repertoire!! Especially your chicken and dumplings!!

  • Congratulations… You just made “chili” the same way the chili “kits” are made that just sell the seasonings. They even come with the masa. Oh yeah, and then you put BEANS in it. No onions, no jalapenos, no flavor, no chili. FAIL!!!

  • Ironic how WHITE SUPREMACIST bigots hate Mexicans but love Mexican food…that makes them anti human in my eyes…as in the eyes of God aswell…am sure.
Am not Mexican but i can’t help but see the irony.

  • This chili recipe is the best!! I have been searching high and low for a good chili recipe and I’ve tried tons. This is my favorite by far. The smoked paprika, bacon, and celery put this over the top!

  • I’ve never seen chili with carrots! I remember Amy mentioning this recipe on her channel and I was so intrigued by the carrots lol… it looks super yummy! Great video!

  • I use masa in my chili, but I have a secret ingredient that I won’t share. I generally love beans, but they have no place in my chili. It’s all meat! And I have an assortment of dried peppers I use. I like it screaming hot.. This sounds so good! If I weren’t so sick, I would go to the grocery store and get what I need to make a big pot.

  • Hey I’m planning on make this on the upcoming weekend.

I’ve recently been sucked into bad habits by eating mostly cookies and other snack cakes. I feel like absolute garbage. I can’t wait to get back to the gym.

  • THANK YOU so much for this recipe. I currently have it cooking right now and just recently bought a slow cooker/crock pot. and it’s amazing. I tasted this recipe to see if i needed anything else and it’s absolutely lush! cannot wait for dinner tonight x thank you so much. x

  • Quick little tip my mom always told me! Wash off the beans in a strainer form the can do it gets rid of that extra sodium and stuff that you don’t want! Cant wait to try it!! Loooks so yummy

  • The algorithm brought me here. Must be my love of slow cooker recipes.

Please check out a cooking channel from my corner of the world. It’s called ‘what’s for tea’. It’s a similar channel to this one and it makes following recipes so easy to follow.

I love recipes you can put on before work and be welcomed home with the smell of real home cooking

  • Its still astonish me just how lots of people have no idea about Custokebon Secrets even though many people using it. Thanks to my personal friend who told me about it. I have lost lots of weight.

  • I just made it didn’t have a big enough slow cooker so I’ll put it on low in a big pot on the stove and let me tell you absolutely delicious thank you very much for this recipe.

  • haha Shawn I’m 18% bf at 178 pounds I do lot of cycling I hope I can get down to 15% bf and i be happy if I can achieve that without depriving myself like I’m doing now I was 10% bf but I wasn’t very happy.i don’t go overboard but I do have pizza and those chocolates and I’m keeping 178 lbs just fine I haven’t been to the gym in 3 months I had inguinal surgery I’m having fun cycling right now but will go to the gym and do some ab work to strengthen my core.

  • your option but you could always drain off the fat after meat cooks down……..I love chili…….making some today…….thank yu

  • It’s already tasting yummy it’s all together I’m just heating it the only thing you didn’t do is tell people to drain the beans or maybe you didn’t want to drain I drained mine and run some water over them, IT’S excellent thank you so MUCH.
I drained my ground sirloin to.

  • this is a food recipe if you are a dragon having trouble igniting your fire breath. if you are making this for a family, for the love of pete do not put this much chili pepper in your food, your children will spontaneously combust. i like spice, but this is ridiculous!

  • How come there isn’t a recipe to follow. I’m not going to buy the book until I try at least one recipe, but you don’t share it. Not cool.

  • White American cheese mixed in and light sour cream. Makes an awesome chip dip if you make the chili less wet by simmering it longer.

  • Guys, losing weight does not have to be hard (I used to feel it did). I’ll give you some advice right now. Look for a diet plan known as Fenoboci Diet Plan. Seriously, that program has transformed my life. I probably should not even be talking about it cause I do not want a bunch of other folks out there running the same “game” but whatever, I am just in a great mood today so I will share the wealth haha.

  • Hey! Thanks a lot for this useful video. By the way, I notice lots of people keep on talking about Fenoboci Diet Plan (just google search it), but I’m not sure if it is good. Have you tried Fenoboci Diet Plan? I’ve heard some awesome things about it and my buddy lost a ton of weight with it, but she refuses to tell me:(
