    Could you please advise how many dates I can eat per day as I cut them and add the peanut butter in them and after I melt 85% cocoa chocolate and I put them in the chocolate. 1h in the fridge and voila! Lovely healthy dessert!

  • I think the info are mistaken because there are about 60g of carbs in 100g of dates! There is no way one date contains that much sugar; I even suspect that one date weighs 60g.

  • Eating them on an empty stomach is the best. First thing in the morning will suffice or after fasting. Like them get into your belly first thing. 4 to 7 dates and a cup of joe will get you kick started.

  • The messenger Mohammad Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him told us that this is the best of food. Dates are very rich of healthy sugars, vitamines, energy,… they cure a lot of diseases. One date called the Ajwa date grows only in Saudi Arabia and especially Mecca from where I know and it protects you against every disease you can imagine if you eat 7 of them at the beginning of the day. Compared with the holy zamzam water (water from the zamzam source in Mecca) gives you a healthy and protected body. Zamzam is the blessed water that contains very good minerals and it’s miraculous.

  • It doesn’t make sense, diabetes are caused by fructose and dates are fructose rich food.
    The study shows only the GI on diabetics people but only glucose rises blood sugar, the fructose goes directly to the liver so the blood sugar is not affected. But when your liver has plenty of sugar in it, it stores all the excess of sugar into fat, which leads to fat liver disease then insulin resistance then type 2 diabetes.
    So, are dates healthy? Absolutely!
    Are dates good for diabetics? Hell No!

I have only begun including two per day, a few days ago, and another YouTube video sang the benefits of this fruit, neglecting to say how concerns should address the skins, due to handling. He told me also that he drinks his tea and has a few dates in the morning and I’ve noticed it’s really helped me a lot my energy and I feel so much better.   • I think peeling dates is overkill. Lots of nutrients are lost if you remove the skin. If you are concerned with the skin being contaminated you should wash the dates.

  • I’ve always thought that the skins on most fruits, ok not all, hold most of the gudstuff, I have three dates every day with my breakfast I rinse them under the tap with cold water take the pips out and put them in my nutribullet with the rest of my goodies I’ve been doing this for the last three years never had any problems,

  • Dear Maam, My friend grows these Barhi dates near Hyderabad, India. It grows well but since it is a new crop the locals are not buying much and there is a bit of marketing problem here for these kharak stage dates. He also says that they get spoilt within 3-4 days of harvesting them. He doesn’t know how to process them further. Can you tell how to do value-addition or process them further. Is it possible to process these kharak dates into the ripe dates which have a shelf life of 6 months to a year. Can you provide me any web-resources on this value-addition. Are you from Gujarat?   • Surely the skin is insoluble fibre and thus good for roughage. Are dates sticky when picked. I thought they would be picked when ripe then dried in the sun when they become wrinkled. Thus not much handling. Maybe a rinse in hot water to removed dust and maybe pesticides. I’ve found a shop that sells the really big and juicy ones and l have about two each day. A much healthier snack than say health bars.

  • you need to remove the skin IF the dates are old and have been stored for n many years. That is when it looses its bond with the fruit. otherwise, most dates have skin that is strongly adhered to the fruit n does not peel. It then becomes very easy to wash them as you consume them.

  • thanks for the beneficial info on dates but when you said that their skin could be contaminated by bacterias or viruses, I believe washing them would clean them, plus the way you are cleaning them would not be the proper way because you touch the skin and then the peeled dates and then the dirty water that you used to clean them in.

  • I have never had Dates before. Are they sweet like prunes because they look almost like them? Also, do they have pits to spit out or can you just eat the whole thing? After you use the boiling water to peel, do you have to eat them hot or can you put them in the refrigerator and eat cold? And last, are these a year round fruit or seasonal?

    You should watch Pamela Pace’s video ” why you shouldn’t start a date palm from seed”…I guess you have a good chance of your seeds being male and then you’ll have pretty date palms, but they won’t produce any dates. She talked about some other good stuff also. ♥️
