If you want to get big and strong you must do one thing in your workouts. You have to remember to make progressive overload the guiding principle of your training. You simply cannot force your body to build muscle if you are keeping the status quo on the effort you are putting into your workouts. In this video, I’m going to dispel the myth however that progressive overload means simply adding more weight to the bar. There are many more ways to achieve this, and in doing so, many more opportunities for you to build muscle and get strong.. That said, it is important for you to first identify what your specific goal is. Are you looking to just get strong, just build muscle, or both? They both can be accomplished simultaneously, it just means that each will be compromised somewhat along the way. We can minimize the compromises if we know how to get big and strong the right way.. To illustrate the differences in approaches we are going to take a classic bodybuilding exercise for building bigger biceps like the dumbbell curl and pit it up against one of the most classic and effective compound lifts the deadlift. As you’ll see, many of the techniques can be applied to each lift in a slightly different application but with the same end goal.. We know that the easiest way to create progressive overload and build strength and muscle size is to do exactly what we said however and add weight to the bar or dumbbell that you are lifting. As strength increases, often times, so too does muscle growth albeit at a slower pace (especially at the beginning of your training).. Next we can increase overall volume as long as the volume is of sufficient enough intensity to push your body to adapt in the form of increased muscle size and strength. The key here is to not confuse junk volume for effective volume. Lifting sub maximal weights that are greatly beneath your strength capacity is not going to trigger enough of a response to get either stronger or bigger.. Which brings us to effort level. Not talking about intensity as defined in the realm of strength as a percentage of a max but rather simply about the amount of effort you are directing into your training. If you are lazily lifting your weights rather than attacking them with a focused intention, then you are likely leaving many gains on the table and missing an obvious opportunity for overload.. We don’t always have to focus on how much we are lifting to ensure progressive overload. We can focus on how long we rest between sets that we are performing to achieve an progression as well. If your sets and reps are the same and the intensity is consistent but you decreased the rest time between sets by even just one minute, your second workout would serve as a form of overload and drive positive adaptations.. Range of motion is another way we can increase the effectiveness of an exercise from workout to workout without having to change the amount of weight on the bar. Performing either a deficit deadlift or a one and a half rep curl are going to increase the travel of the bar or dumbbell respectively on every rep and therefore create more work for the muscles you are training.. The range itself however does not always have to be lengthened. You can increase the “effective” range by taking advantage of accommodating resistance and overlapping strength curves. The inclusion of a band on a dumbbell curl or chains on a deadlift will help you to better match the strength curve of the exercise for a longer part of the range thereby increasing it’s overall effectiveness.. Speed and momentum are also methods that can be manipulated for overload and are discussed in more detail in the video.. The key is that thinking that adding more weight to the bar is the only way for you to achieve progressive overload and get bigger and stronger is a myth. The schooled strength coach will be capable of steering you away from this and show you how not only to increase your lifting capacity but also to build size and strength through other methods.. Shit bro’s I need help I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I been working out for 3 years I’m 18 and before this corona shit started around March I was 193. Now I’m 180-181. 2 weeks ago I been keeping track of my macros eating about 3600-4000 calories a day CLEAN and still working out in my backyard w weights that I got and been getting great workouts and still haven’t changed in the weight scale a bit. Am I doing something wrong?

Hold the fuck up. At 6:06 it shows a thingy thing that implies that joint instability can cause dysfunction in the autonomic nervous system. Is this true? I have dysautonomia and no doctor will do anything about it. If this is true, this is another thing I can try, and I can ask my physiotherapist to help with it.

I’m not certain genetic perfection would improve humans that much. I’m not saying it wouldn’t work, I’m just saying a majority of people wouldn’t change their outputs. There are millions of people who likely have the genetic potential to become superhuman, but just a tiny percentage even try to improve themselves. Giving out something like myostatin deficiency would most likely create a huge number of people who use it to stay lean, without any effort, rather than hit the gym and become super. The same would happen with any other genetic perfection; giving people the ability to “coast” through life with good enough results. Less a comment on science and more a sad commentary on human nature.

Very good as usual! One thing worth pointing out about the option to decrease time that’s actually the definition of power (force x distance / time). In other words, moving the same weight in less time is a demonstration of more power. Of course this has to be properly cycled, but setting out to become more powerful also leads to becoming stronger.

Love the info in this video! It verifies a lot of what I’ve been learning on how to train. Also, for the ladies out there, there’s a lot of new research coming about how female physiology requires some tweaking when it comes to rest and and rep range, if an athlete wants to maximize their results.
Basically, reps should be higher, and rest somewhat shorter. The gist is due to less testosterone in the body combined with higher oestrogen, ladies recover much faster between work sets, but need to perform more reps in an exercise to optimize results. So basically, if a program says 5-8 reps, bump it up to 8-10. 8-12 reps? Probably fine doing 10-15. If rest is 3-5 min, 1-2 min, or 2-3 min would be more ideal.
That being said, if a lady follows a traditional program that was probably made with a male athlete as the default, she’ll get plenty fit. This is just what I’ve learned in my own research, but I highly encourage anyone to do their own and not just trust a youtube comment.
every time i watch one of your videos i start watching one afte another of the older videos… revisiting this video i got a new question… if someone did for example bodybuilding type of routine for the legs for example… but a power lifter type of training for the upper body… and they ate slightly more than normal… would they get bigger legs and stronger arms that do not get that big? or the other way arround… like… you do bodybuilder arms training or whatever… the point is… can you choose to split your training like that to hit diferent muscles differently?
I think you tube breeds haters, most comments have nothing to do with exercise or much of anything else. Information is good at several levels, if you are already a pro, that’s great, but perhaps you should think about the many who are not or those just wanting to maintain at an older age. I have the same issue of having a some what rounded lower back when I deadlift even with lower weights that I’m sure I can handle. I feel fine and do pay attention to other aspects of my form. But making my lower back absolutely straight just feels unnatural for me. You briefly mentioned in another video that the arching/rounding of the back may have to do with you torso-to-leg ratio and the anatomical variation of the hip jointwould you mind elaborating on this? I kind of want to be a medium muscle build with good bulk but not huge the in between Bruce Lee in baggy cloths and the rock in a suit…… but first I have to loose the fat that I put on when I did college in person and stopped doing martial arts and aged out of the 10-15 mile a day weekend hikes with the boy scouts….. college really messed up the routine that worked for me in high school and I did not make a new on and I gained 170 lbs in 3 years now I have lost 120 lbs of that and put on some muscle. oh and I dont know if these work for everyone but overcoming isometrics have greatly increased my muscle fiber recruitment and my over all strength. I include them as the last part of my warm up and they make a 5-10 lb difference in my first bench press and a 5 lb difference in bicep curls I start at a high weight at the beginning and drop set while increasing reps and when I get down to the bar and 25 on each side I do a burn out for about 50 reps (the first lifts which are heavy I do a 2-3 min rest between but once I get down to a plate and a 25 on each side of the bar I drop to 1 min and once at a plate its only 45 seconds and so on until I am just lifting the bar and it feels like a ton. I usually do this as a set with pull downs. this has been working and combined with a intermittent fasting cycle with a 24 hr period around the 2 week day workouts (usually in the morning before work and on Tuesday when I take my online tests and therefor do not have my work that is also part of my education.) and I also do a Saturday workout which is my most intense (unless I decide to hike 10 or more miles that weekend) it has worked an I have lost 120 lb.

How about Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde? Not sure if you will ever read this, but in watching some of the shows I have missed. There have already been cases of drugs being given to solderers to subvert pain and keep them fighting. In the fictional story Dr. Jekyll would drug himself to increase strength, reflexes, and a personality change. This was to impress women. sense the doctor was shy. The drug would then wear out and he reverts back or he could take an anti drug to change himself back. Many attribute physical characteristics changes as well as personality could be attributed to a similar quality. Where when a person works out the muscles will flex and expand making them look more physically fit and the increased Adrenalin often causes someone to be more aggressive. The added effect of being wore out and exhausted after the drug wore off also sounds a lot more realistic. I would see a temporary super soldier serum much more desirable to governments so they could control the use and distribution. It would need to be tailor made for each recipient or the effects could be both deadly and even more then likely addictive without constantly being cycled off. Including a cleansing serum that would help to remove any residual effects and also decrease the recuperation time.

Jeff my dude, I know you know how to dead lift. You even have videos that provide tips on how NOT to do what you did on that last 2-3 sets; started @315 if you pay attention. Why give yourself a pass and include those clips in this video? I’ve followed you for a while now and lots of ppl will follow what you do and tell them. You need to take this more seriously. One 20 something kid at my gym was trying to DL 225 with that form and when I try to give him some tips, he said he saw you do it this way so it should be fine. Smh. Everyone needs to chillout here. Bet we can say the same about your form when handling your 1-3 rep max. His shoulders didn’t seem to collapse, or torso caving in. Even elite competitors have lifted with slightly rounded (slightly rounded!) backs.
Bicep 21s. With a bar, curl from bottom to mid for 7 reps. Then immediately for 7 mid to top, then immediately full ROM, for 7. major pump. Old school BB exercise, that arnold, franco, lou, zane, etc all used.

I have been following Jeff I think since 2014, and at the begging, I was shocked by the videos of people saying Jeff was lifting fake weights.
I watched it and I laughed, it’s so easy to see envy in their eyes and jealously in their choice of word. And the lack of experience.
I wouldn’t say its hate, anyone in the fitness industry knows that the industry has changed. It’s no longer about health and fitness but it’s about lifestyle.
Jeff is probably the only remaining from the golden age about fitness, he is fitness not cars and houses and lifestyle.

Jeff can you explain why I did 4 sets of 12 bench press with 135 and I did 4 seconds down and 2 seconds up and I felt so burnt out when I usually do 225 for 4 sets of 8-10 reps on chest day. I felt so weak when I was done ✅ same thing happen to me on bicep curls slow and controlled way less weight but slower up and down and I was smoked.

A low sodium diet is only beneficial to a select group of people who are already with a disease process. It does not benefit the young and healthy. Especially those who are exercising everyday. That’s crazy. If fact it hurts health.

it good to listen to the opinion of the enhanced aswell as being natural. I do a heavy job which I treat as exercise, I have enhanced workmates and value their opinion on how to exercise different muscle sets
Don’t know if you going to read this Mr. Cavalier but I’ve been watching you for almost 2 years now. I’ve seen your old content and new ones. You have had a huge impact on my fitness journey for almost 2 years. I was around 226 and am currently 173. I don’t ever write comments on anything I read or watch but I had to let you know today that your content means a lot to me. I’ve learned a lot and am still learning from you everyday as well as doing my own research. I just saw a YouTube video with a title of something like “Athlean-X Controversy” and based on what I watched I guess some people were saying that you use fake weights. I’m no expert, by far, on what looks like fake weights being used and I don’t know you personally at all, but from what I’ve seen and learned and mimicked to best of my abilities since discovering you, I can say I truly belive you’re a man of quality. And perhaps those deadlifts is your way of addressing those rumors, without actually addressing them. If that’s what it is, I respect it. Anyway, I’ve babbled long enough. To the form critics out there… Some back rounding during a heavy single is normal and even expected. Singles executed at a sufficiently high % of your 1RM are an excellent diagnostic tool to reveal flaws in your technique. I think this should be the major takeaway of this video despite not being stated this plainly. Spinal flexion during the deadlift is not a predictor of injury (remember anecdotes aren’t science).
With regard to the top single, the fact that his back wasn’t perfectly flat is almost irrelevant. The only major flaw I see, speaking as your random internet pleb, is his lack of patience off the floor/pulling the slack out. Jeff just grips it and rips it, and it throws him out of position which he spends the rest of the lift recovering from. Taking more time to fully set his upper back and lever the bar off the floor would leave him in a much better position to finish the pull and not drain so much power at the bottom. Ironically him trying to generate power via explosively jerking the bar actually has the exact opposite effect.
I know what you’re gonna say, “but pleb (insert random super strong power-lifter/strongman name here) pulls explosively from the floor?!?!?” True, but it is a contested lift IN THEIR SPORT; hence they are experts. This means all the little details you and I would have to consciously think about or focus on, they do reflexively. They are in these positions ALL THE TIME, and thus they have much greater latitude to be that explosive. Not to mention the obvious fact that “being explosive” may make the difference between a podium/medal/fat ass check, or not. Meanwhile us plebs aren’t lifting in a meet anytime soon, so the extra few pounds that “explosiveness” (aka impatience) may grant us comes as ALL cost NO benefit.
Edit: In all my ranting I almost forgot… good lift Jeff! I prefer the more “raw” training footage rather than more refined/produced footage. Just one guy’s opinion.
Jeff, can you talk about the shorter rest periods in terms of metabolic stress and how that generates/promotes growth? I see how the 1.5 reps per full rep adds volume, but the generation of metabolic stress has a huge impact, right? In particular, what percentage of overall stimulus does metabolic stress offer? Some people say that muscle soreness (good sore, not bad sore) comes from arachadonic acid which supposedly also promotes an anabolic stimulus? Thanks again, sir. Great job!

How about Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde? Not sure if you will ever read this, but in watching some of the shows I have missed. There have already been cases of drugs being given to solderers to subvert pain and keep them fighting. In the fictional story Dr. Jekyll would drug himself to increase strength, reflexes, and a personality change. This was to impress women. sense the doctor was shy. The drug would then wear out and he reverts back or he could take an anti drug to change himself back. Many attribute physical characteristics changes as well as personality could be attributed to a similar quality. Where when a person works out the muscles will flex and expand making them look more physically fit and the increased Adrenalin often causes someone to be more aggressive. The added effect of being wore out and exhausted after the drug wore off also sounds a lot more realistic. I would see a temporary super soldier serum much more desirable to governments so they could control the use and distribution. It would need to be tailor made for each recipient or the effects could be both deadly and even more then likely addictive without constantly being cycled off. Including a cleansing serum that would help to remove any residual effects and also decrease the recuperation time.

1. It’s fine. There is going to be a degree of flexion in heavy deadlifting it’s unavoidable. However, there is a neutral zone for deadlifting. Slight spinal flexion is okay but when you start rounding out looking like the hunch back of Notre Dame… That’s when you should stop.
2. For those saying he’ll incur low back pain, have you seen his pull-up game? The man does weighted pull-ups for reps. His lats are going to buffer the net forces applied through his thoracolumbar fascia.
If we had ribs that went all the way down our hip low back pain wouldn’t exist. So since we cannot rely on our structure for stability we are going to have to rely on core, glutes, and lat function to stabilize the trunk.

And: No, I don’t believe that you are that one guy out of 100 million who’d be a genetic outlier that gains 4 lbs instead of 2 per month under perfect conditions. Everyone who just learns about the limits of the human metabolism and the capabilities for protein synthesis instantly understands that this can’t happen in just 30 days. It just can’t. If you have taken anything, just admit to it, and don’t try to tell people crazy success stories that aren’t true. I would even consider it legit, as long as you know what you’re doing and why you’re taking the juice. But naturally? No, that can’t happen. Never. By just (seemingly-) 8 lbs I would assume a meager Turinabol (4-chlorodehydromethyltestosterone) cycle and I hope for your own sake that you have made a proper PCT (Post Cycle Therapy) after that cycle. And don’t even think about to use Methanedrostenolone without the proper aromathase-inhibtors not even for a silly reality TV show like this one, or it might very well kill you. Now I’m 180-181. 2 weeks ago I been keeping track of my macros eating about 3600-4000 calories a day CLEAN and still working out in my backyard w weights that I got and been getting great workouts and still haven’t changed in the weight scale a bit. Hold the fuck up. At 6:06 it shows a thingy thing that implies that joint instability can cause dysfunction in the autonomic nervous system. Is this true? I have dysautonomia and no doctor will do anything about it. If this is true, this is another thing I can try, and I can ask my physiotherapist to help with it.

I’m not certain genetic perfection would improve humans that much. I’m not saying it wouldn’t work, I’m just saying a majority of people wouldn’t change their outputs.
There are millions of people who likely have the genetic potential to become superhuman, but just a tiny percentage even try to improve themselves. Giving out something like myostatin deficiency would most likely create a huge number of people who use it to stay lean, without any effort, rather than hit the gym and become super. The same would happen with any other genetic perfection; giving people the ability to “coast” through life with good enough results. Less a comment on science and more a sad commentary on human nature.

Very good as usual! One thing worth pointing out about the option to decrease time that’s actually the definition of power (force x distance / time). In other words, moving the same weight in less time is a demonstration of more power. Of course this has to be properly cycled, but setting out to become more powerful also leads to becoming stronger.

Love the info in this video! It verifies a lot of what I’ve been learning on how to train. Also, for the ladies out there, there’s a lot of new research coming about how female physiology requires some tweaking when it comes to rest and and rep range, if an athlete wants to maximize their results.
Basically, reps should be higher, and rest somewhat shorter. The gist is due to less testosterone in the body combined with higher oestrogen, ladies recover much faster between work sets, but need to perform more reps in an exercise to optimize results. So basically, if a program says 5-8 reps, bump it up to 8-10. 8-12 reps? Probably fine doing 10-15. If rest is 3-5 min, 1-2 min, or 2-3 min would be more ideal.
That being said, if a lady follows a traditional program that was probably made with a male athlete as the default, she’ll get plenty fit. This is just what I’ve learned in my own research, but I highly encourage anyone to do their own and not just trust a youtube comment.
every time i watch one of your videos i start watching one afte another of the older videos… revisiting this video i got a new question… if someone did for example bodybuilding type of routine for the legs for example… but a power lifter type of training for the upper body… and they ate slightly more than normal… would they get bigger legs and stronger arms that do not get that big? or the other way arround… like… you do bodybuilder arms training or whatever… the point is… can you choose to split your training like that to hit diferent muscles differently?

I have the same issue of having a some what rounded lower back when I deadlift even with lower weights that I’m sure I can handle. I feel fine and do pay attention to other aspects of my form. But making my lower back absolutely straight just feels unnatural for me. You briefly mentioned in another video that the arching/rounding of the back may have to do with you torso-to-leg ratio and the anatomical variation of the hip jointwould you mind elaborating on this? I have a question, so I’m trying to get bigger, but at the same time I want to be very strong, do I just stick to the 1-6 rep range?
I kind of want to be a medium muscle build with good bulk but not huge the in between Bruce Lee in baggy cloths and the rock in a suit…… but first I have to loose the fat that I put on when I did college in person and stopped doing martial arts and aged out of the 10-15 mile a day weekend hikes with the boy scouts….. college really messed up the routine that worked for me in high school and I did not make a new on and I gained 170 lbs in 3 years now I have lost 120 lbs of that and put on some muscle. oh and I dont know if these work for everyone but overcoming isometrics have greatly increased my muscle fiber recruitment and my over all strength. I include them as the last part of my warm up and they make a 5-10 lb difference in my first bench press and a 5 lb difference in bicep curls I start at a high weight at the beginning and drop set while increasing reps and when I get down to the bar and 25 on each side I do a burn out for about 50 reps (the first lifts which are heavy I do a 2-3 min rest between but once I get down to a plate and a 25 on each side of the bar I drop to 1 min and once at a plate its only 45 seconds and so on until I am just lifting the bar and it feels like a ton. I usually do this as a set with pull downs. this has been working and combined with a intermittent fasting cycle with a 24 hr period around the 2 week day workouts (usually in the morning before work and on Tuesday when I take my online tests and therefor do not have my work that is also part of my education.) and I also do a Saturday workout which is my most intense (unless I decide to hike 10 or more miles that weekend) it has worked an I have lost 120 lb.
I want to build size now because of the mentally large amount of strength I currently have, but I’m really struggling with it. Currently 78kg at 6’2”. Help pls

How about Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde? Not sure if you will ever read this, but in watching some of the shows I have missed. There have already been cases of drugs being given to solderers to subvert pain and keep them fighting. In the fictional story Dr. Jekyll would drug himself to increase strength, reflexes, and a personality change. This was to impress women. sense the doctor was shy. The drug would then wear out and he reverts back or he could take an anti drug to change himself back. Many attribute physical characteristics changes as well as personality could be attributed to a similar quality. Where when a person works out the muscles will flex and expand making them look more physically fit and the increased Adrenalin often causes someone to be more aggressive. The added effect of being wore out and exhausted after the drug wore off also sounds a lot more realistic. I would see a temporary super soldier serum much more desirable to governments so they could control the use and distribution. It would need to be tailor made for each recipient or the effects could be both deadly and even more then likely addictive without constantly being cycled off. Including a cleansing serum that would help to remove any residual effects and also decrease the recuperation time.

Why give yourself a pass and include those clips in this video? I’ve followed you for a while now and lots of ppl will follow what you do and tell them. You need to take this more seriously. Everyone needs to chillout here. Bet we can say the same about your form when handling your 1-3 rep max. His shoulders didn’t seem to collapse, or torso caving in. Even elite competitors have lifted with slightly rounded (slightly rounded!) backs.
Bicep 21s. With a bar, curl from bottom to mid for 7 reps. Then immediately for 7 mid to top, then immediately full ROM, for 7. major pump. Old school BB exercise, that arnold, franco, lou, zane, etc all used.

I have been following Jeff I think since 2014, and at the begging, I was shocked by the videos of people saying Jeff was lifting fake weights.
I watched it and I laughed, it’s so easy to see envy in their eyes and jealously in their choice of word. And the lack of experience.
I wouldn’t say its hate, anyone in the fitness industry knows that the industry has changed. It’s no longer about health and fitness but it’s about lifestyle.
Jeff is probably the only remaining from the golden age about fitness, he is fitness not cars and houses and lifestyle.
He still cares about people and tries to help them. And I believe he will keep doing so till the end of the line.
They made videos trying to call Jeff fake and it was a failed attempt, I know I have been wanting to do this for a while and I think it’s about time.

Jeff can you explain why I did 4 sets of 12 bench press with 135 and I did 4 seconds down and 2 seconds up and I felt so burnt out when I usually do 225 for 4 sets of 8-10 reps on chest day. I felt so weak when I was done ✅ same thing happen to me on bicep curls slow and controlled way less weight but slower up and down and I was smoked.
I law a video about fake weight plates and you being accused. All I can say is that I been using your videos and taking advice from your videos and I been seeing results and I think your the man and I truly think you know your stuff. Thanks for your advice Jeff.
See, during Captain America: The First Avenger, he’s injected multiple times in the major muscle groups and then bombarded with “Vita” Rays. I believe he was injected with something similar to this and the Vita-Rays are used to speed up the muscle growth and development process. I’m not sure what comparable ray could do this, perhaps UV?
A low sodium diet is only beneficial to a select group of people who are already with a disease process. It does not benefit the young and healthy. Especially those who are exercising everyday. That’s crazy. If fact it hurts health.

Don’t know if you going to read this Mr. Cavalier but I’ve been watching you for almost 2 years now. I’ve seen your old content and new ones. You have had a huge impact on my fitness journey for almost 2 years. I was around 226 and am currently 173. I don’t ever write comments on anything I read or watch but I had to let you know today that your content means a lot to me. I’ve learned a lot and am still learning from you everyday as well as doing my own research. I just saw a YouTube video with a title of something like “Athlean-X Controversy” and based on what I watched I guess some people were saying that you use fake weights. I’m no expert, by far, on what looks like fake weights being used and I don’t know you personally at all, but from what I’ve seen and learned and mimicked to best of my abilities since discovering you, I can say I truly belive you’re a man of quality. And perhaps those deadlifts is your way of addressing those rumors, without actually addressing them. If that’s what it is, I respect it. Anyway, I’ve babbled long enough. To the form critics out there… Some back rounding during a heavy single is normal and even expected. Singles executed at a sufficiently high % of your 1RM are an excellent diagnostic tool to reveal flaws in your technique. I think this should be the major takeaway of this video despite not being stated this plainly. Spinal flexion during the deadlift is not a predictor of injury (remember anecdotes aren’t science).
With regard to the top single, the fact that his back wasn’t perfectly flat is almost irrelevant. The only major flaw I see, speaking as your random internet pleb, is his lack of patience off the floor/pulling the slack out. Jeff just grips it and rips it, and it throws him out of position which he spends the rest of the lift recovering from. Taking more time to fully set his upper back and lever the bar off the floor would leave him in a much better position to finish the pull and not drain so much power at the bottom. Ironically him trying to generate power via explosively jerking the bar actually has the exact opposite effect.
I know what you’re gonna say, “but pleb (insert random super strong power-lifter/strongman name here) pulls explosively from the floor?!?!?” True, but it is a contested lift IN THEIR SPORT; hence they are experts. This means all the little details you and I would have to consciously think about or focus on, they do reflexively. They are in these positions ALL THE TIME, and thus they have much greater latitude to be that explosive. Not to mention the obvious fact that “being explosive” may make the difference between a podium/medal/fat ass check, or not. Meanwhile us plebs aren’t lifting in a meet anytime soon, so the extra few pounds that “explosiveness” (aka impatience) may grant us comes as ALL cost NO benefit.
Edit: In all my ranting I almost forgot… good lift Jeff! I prefer the more “raw” training footage rather than more refined/produced footage. Just one guy’s opinion.
Jeff, can you talk about the shorter rest periods in terms of metabolic stress and how that generates/promotes growth? I see how the 1.5 reps per full rep adds volume, but the generation of metabolic stress has a huge impact, right? In particular, what percentage of overall stimulus does metabolic stress offer? Some people say that muscle soreness (good sore, not bad sore) comes from arachadonic acid which supposedly also promotes an anabolic stimulus? Thanks again, sir. Great job!

How about Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde? Not sure if you will ever read this, but in watching some of the shows I have missed. There have already been cases of drugs being given to solderers to subvert pain and keep them fighting. In the fictional story Dr. Jekyll would drug himself to increase strength, reflexes, and a personality change. This was to impress women. sense the doctor was shy. The drug would then wear out and he reverts back or he could take an anti drug to change himself back. Many attribute physical characteristics changes as well as personality could be attributed to a similar quality. Where when a person works out the muscles will flex and expand making them look more physically fit and the increased Adrenalin often causes someone to be more aggressive. The added effect of being wore out and exhausted after the drug wore off also sounds a lot more realistic. I would see a temporary super soldier serum much more desirable to governments so they could control the use and distribution. It would need to be tailor made for each recipient or the effects could be both deadly and even more then likely addictive without constantly being cycled off. Including a cleansing serum that would help to remove any residual effects and also decrease the recuperation time.

His main super power isn’t super strength his strength,speed, durability, perception, intelligence, and senses are all equally enhanced to super human levels so you’d need the serum to do that as well now that is impossible unless you had multiple serums for each attribute and it’d be a miracle if the subject survives plus ultra violet rays are deadly to humans in large amounts so using that to activate the muscles would kill a human so you’re theoretical sss would not work

1. It’s fine. There is going to be a degree of flexion in heavy deadlifting it’s unavoidable. However, there is a neutral zone for deadlifting. Slight spinal flexion is okay but when you start rounding out looking like the hunch back of Notre Dame… That’s when you should stop.
2. For those saying he’ll incur low back pain, have you seen his pull-up game? The man does weighted pull-ups for reps. His lats are going to buffer the net forces applied through his thoracolumbar fascia.
If we had ribs that went all the way down our hip low back pain wouldn’t exist. So since we cannot rely on our structure for stability we are going to have to rely on core, glutes, and lat function to stabilize the trunk.

Under perfect circumstances and with that I mean perfect genetics, perfect Testosterone levels, perfect training and perfect diet you can gain maybe 2 lbs in lean muscles per month. That’s it. If you gained more than that, then you had chemical support of some sort (classical steroids or SARMS). And: No, I don’t believe that you are that one guy out of 100 million who’d be a genetic outlier that gains 4 lbs instead of 2 per month under perfect conditions. Everyone who just learns about the limits of the human metabolism and the capabilities for protein synthesis instantly understands that this can’t happen in just 30 days. It just can’t. If you have taken anything, just admit to it, and don’t try to tell people crazy success stories that aren’t true. I would even consider it legit, as long as you know what you’re doing and why you’re taking the juice. But naturally? No, that can’t happen. Never. By just (seemingly-) 8 lbs I would assume a meager Turinabol (4-chlorodehydromethyltestosterone) cycle and I hope for your own sake that you have made a proper PCT (Post Cycle Therapy) after that cycle. And don’t even think about to use Methanedrostenolone without the proper aromathase-inhibtors not even for a silly reality TV show like this one, or it might very well kill you.
