Yippee!!, thanx Dr Boz,, Im a 17st 55yo male and i started your KETO diet on Sunday 04/8/19, its the 6th day and ive lost 12Ibs, Arghhhh,,,,wednesday i had too much protein and lost under a 1lb, but i lost 2Ib in one day thurs-friday so im back on track, got one more day to loose 2Ib to make it 1st in the first week,,i think i’ll do it,,,WOW, to loose 2Ib a day, thats a bag of sugar AMAZING, dont you just love ketosis,,, ive allways been around 13st, but 5 years ago i gave up smoking and i piled it on to be 17st, i think my testosterone has lowered which dont help,,,Eeeek!!!

As someone doing Keto, I wouldn’t suggest the romaine lettuce in the salad. Something more calorie dense, even a little Kale or something. Also, the snacks could have more variety:) You don’t want to eat such similar things, variety in your diet is healthy:)

I’m a type 1 diabetic and on an insulin pump since 2009 I still wake up with blood sugar over 120 and as son as I get up and move it shots up to at least 200 whats up with that?
Keto diet is simple…. Eat like you live on a farm with fresh veggies, poultry, beef, pork etc. Than pretend there is a drought so eat sparingly, like no more than twice per 24 hr period. Than go outside and pray for more ☔

Started a week ago. Wish I would have found this even though I did keto before. I have been suffering with the flu but my weight isn’t down. I forgot about supplements!
Though I’m fascinated with this diet and all the testimonies of good results from it, I feel it’s pointless for me to attempt it. I don’t like the foods that are staples of the diet (cheese, bacon, dark meat chicken, boiled eggs). I love legumes, and most other fruits and veggies! I don’t eat a lot of bread, so giving that up wouldn’t bother me. Same with pasta.

Dr Boz,…I’m just finding you & what a blessing. Wow,…you are the first medical professional to ever explain “fasting” and the liver damage comparable to an alcoholic….at least the first I’ve seen. What an eye opener for me. I’ve done Keto 3 times before and quit every time due to chronic constipation. I’ve learned so much from you in just 2 days of watching your videos….the chia seeds, the salt, and so much information on insulin resistance. I’m one of those people who works out like a fiend walking miles a day and doing circuit and hiit training…but is still 40 pounds over weight. I had been doing the Mediterranean diet for 8 months and lost 9 pounds. Not a good result, considering that My doctor told me to loose 30 pounds ASAP…giving me a diagnosis of pre diabetes. She told me to go on the Mediterranean diet. I felt ashamed that I can’t lose the weight. So I have just avoided going back for my labs. Thank you for this tremendous knowledge and for inspiring us.

I have a fatty liver and I am obese and my blood sugar seems to be around 100 no matter what. I am starting Keto/Low carb. No weight loss yet but I feel different. I expect I am working on emptying my liver. So how long till the fat in my liver is gone?
Yes, first month I found a friend who had literally no food so she was glad to take all my margarine, cereals, canned goods with non keto veggies, my flour, sugar, and sweetened yogurt. I gave her all my grains, noodles, ragu and sauces with sugar. I felt better doing this tan just throwing it out. I also gave her fresh and canned fruits that had the high sugar content. End result, was I gave all my temptations away and she wasn’t starving. Also, the first few weeks is costly, getting real organic butter, cheeses, meats, and vegetable. Also the MCT oil, potassium and magnesium choices and cream supply is not cheap. After a while I found that I only buy what I am going to eat. Avocados. good luck, ask Jesus to help you along and be patient and do t give up, amen!! are a must. Have fun, use leftovers for lunch lacks, drink plenty of salted water or drops to your water.
For electrolyte drink, mix: 1 liter of water 1 teaspoon of Himalayan or Sea Salt 1/2 teaspoon of Baking Soda 1 tablespoon of Raw Organic Honey 1 lime juice You can add more limes if you want.

Hi. On what do you base your statement that we should drink half our body weight, ie 200 lb person consumes 100 ounces? That is 3 liters, 12 cups!! Tim Noakes says we should drink according to thirst. I am more inclined to go with that advice…

No soy sauce? It’s time for the lunar new year and my family usually makes dumplings which I was a bit sad I couldn’t eat (just started keto but I’m motivated to stick to it). I found a keto dumpling dough recipe hoping to be able to eat dumplings (since the filling is really just pork, veggies like chive and Napa cabbage and of course, soy sauce). Would it be fine if I ate it? Most websites I’ve read have said soy sauce is fine for keto?
What happens if the curve ball I’m thrown is out of my hands? My son is getting married and we have a taste testing session with the venue where I have to try the options presented? I can’t really say, “it looks good so I’ll assume it tastes good.” My son will not be happy about that and neither will his fiancé. my problem is diet soda I drink water too but I like diet soda and I can’t get away from it it’s like my one thing I like in life if I go out and have a pint which is once a year that’s the big deal for me I don’t need low-carb products off the market I don’t buy low-carb I buy no carb because low-carb products lie. There sugar in there they’re not telling us about their sugar alcohols in their you actually actually have to go down the list and read the ingredients as well as the list that tells you all the fats and sugars in it. I was at Kmart tonight and I wanted something crunchy like pretzels I’m a pretzel bandit I love the butter snaps and the snaps by Hanover okay so I pick up this bag of long french fries it almost looks like you know that puffed Cheez-Its it says it got 16 carbs and only one or less than one sugar. But something just tells me inside but that is a processed food and they’re lying there’s got to be more wouldn’t hidden sugar in that because sugar and salt is the main ingredient in every single American food product sold on the shelves and in the dairy sections even if it’s cheese the biggest component of cheese besides the milk is salt because American cows are given a gigantic salt block to lick and that’s why Army has so much salt in it you know any you’re okay in the UK they do not take American beef anymore because of what we give them in the way of antibiotics and the amount of sodium even Campbell soup sold in the UK yes it is, has to reduce the sodium on like an America where it’s 1800 grams of sodium for a can of soup and now supposedly yes the little red can is supposed to have as much as 2.5 servings in it are you out of your freaking mind everybody on this Earth knows is that even a child need a half a can of soup by itself and most kids especially teenagers will be almost a whole can of soup to themselves so I don’t buy soup point. I guess my point is I’m having trouble getting it started again the weight loss I tried to eat meat and maybe I’ll have a couple string beans or little drop a broccoli or brussel sprouts or cauliflower but in all honesty it’s such a small portion.
I like your videos! I have a question tho…is it possible to have zero carbs in a day? Ive been trying to get started for a month but its always something dessert like that throws me off my game. I make fat bombs but they are disgusting. I need something black and white to start me off right no grey areas
I’m at an impasse here… I have never been a big meat eater, but knowing it’s a necessity on keto I prepared myself. So I read all the books, and the blogs and watched as many keto videos as I possibly could. Went on amazon and spent a ton of money on all the things I needed to meal prep, some “tune your keto” supplements, to keep my nutrients where they should be, spent a fortune on all the foods recommended and stocked my fridge, freezer and pantry in preparation. (I also stocked up on good high alkaline water, to help with the keto flu) Then I choose my start date. Within 3 days I was in ketosis (I checked my ketones daily) my ketones were actually very high on the third day. I was loosing about 2 lbs a day (one day I lost 3lbs) after almost a week I was very nauseous, jittery and couldn’t stomach anything at all so I went 2 full days without eating, just drinking water as much as I could without getting sick. I just don’t know what to do, I tried but none of the keto foods are palatable at this point. I’m not sure what to do here. I want to do this, but I’m not sure if eating this food is sustainable for me. I just don’t care for meat and high fat food. Is there a way around this or some trick to help me. Please, HELP..?? (I also bought a subscription to carb manager app, lol)
I’ve read that it’s it ok to have small quantities of berries during the keto diet, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, et. They say you can eat about a handful a day since they’re very low in carbs. Have you eaten any or do you eat any berries on your Keto diet? If you have, did you find them ok or did they have a negative effect?

I was thinking maybe to start off, rather than throwing all that food away… could you perhaps set a date when you’re going to start say a few weeks in advance,that would give you enough time to use up as much food with carbs as possible before you start Ketones diet?

I finally switched to farm-raised eggs recently and they’re so good. I’m kind of proud of myself. I relied only on youtube to get started and it has been the easiest and most satisfying way of eating that I’ve ever done. I never get bored with abundance of information from youtubers and all of the doctors and nutritionist who educate us. Hypoglycemia is now a thing of the past!

I was a bona fide carboholic, consuming at least 800 calories a day of Little Debbie’s, pop tarts, sugary cereals, etc… it was a part of my life. I’ve been carb free for a couple months now and do not crave them at all. This is legit.
There is so many different advertisment about Keto. I did realize that by bying one after the other one thinking I was bying the right one… It is very frustrating as well as expensif… Right now I have three different company and still not sure if I have the right one. I’ve got a fancy quart sized teapot that I just love. Instead of chugging water all day I make a lot of herbal teas both caffeinated and not. I’ll boil up water in the kettle on the stove and pour it into my pot and just sip on steaming cups of tea or hot lemon water all day. It’s very soothing to my stomach and I find it far more enjoyable.
Counting calories: Fat weight by factor of 9 ( 30g Sour Cream =270 calories+ cheese 28g X 9 =252 calories) Carb weight by factor of 4 and protein by factor of 4 ( Burger 4oz =112g X 4=448 calories )…without the carb the grand total is 970 cal…
Good video before shopping write a list (from your suggestions) then you can stay focused and not be tempted by none keto products or even better do an online shop!

I went out for my first Keto haul, I did spend like 550 bux between Trader Joe’s and Costco but I had plenty of cash set aside and bought a lot of random things, olives, marinated artichokes.some new things I did get Kerry gold butter I’m finally ready! Hello Christina thank you for all your great advice but I must say the one advice I could not apply is a throwing everything away I have a 13 year old son and a husband who is skinny as a rail and they both have carbs I cannot put them on a diet they don’t need to be on a diet at least for weight loss as I do I’ve been on keto now for 4 months lost about 25 lb so far and I do have to work my way around all the carbs in the kitchen so my advice would be if there’s a family out there like mine where you can’t throw away the carbs you can still do it! You will have to have willpower and to keep the carbs in different cabinets so you don’t have to go to them everyday all the time that helps me changing where you keep the carbs made a big difference so maybe that could be my advice to anyone was in my same situation good luck!
Though I’m fascinated with this diet and all the testimonies of good results from it, I feel it’s pointless for me to attempt it. I don’t like the foods that are staples of the diet (cheese, bacon, dark meat chicken, boiled eggs). I love legumes, and most other fruits and veggies! I don’t eat a lot of bread, so giving that up wouldn’t bother me. Same with pasta.
I’m confused, in a previous video of yours you said to lose weight you need to eat low fat keto so your body burns it’s own fat, which makes total sense. This video you’re saying to eat eggs, bacon and avocado for breakfast and fat a protein for remaining day. Confusing..,

Yes, first month I found a friend who had literally no food so she was glad to take all my margarine, cereals, canned goods with non keto veggies, my flour, sugar, and sweetened yogurt. I gave her all my grains, noodles, ragu and sauces with sugar. I felt better doing this tan just throwing it out. I also gave her fresh and canned fruits that had the high sugar content. End result, was I gave all my temptations away and she wasn’t starving. Also, the first few weeks is costly, getting real organic butter, cheeses, meats, and vegetable. Also the MCT oil, potassium and magnesium choices and cream supply is not cheap. After a while I found that I only buy what I am going to eat. Avocados. good luck, ask Jesus to help you along and be patient and do t give up, amen!! are a must. Have fun, use leftovers for lunch lacks, drink plenty of salted water or drops to your water.
I was a bona fide carboholic, consuming at least 800 calories a day of Little Debbie’s, pop tarts, sugary cereals, etc… it was a part of my life. I’ve been carb free for a couple months now and do not crave them at all. This is legit.

When I started reviewing your journey videos and the mistakes you made and that I would need to keep it simple, I started laughing because of my experience from past dieting I know that I think exactly like you when I am dieting.I will learn from your experiences. I will be starting in Jan. I’m cleaning cupboards and making a list of simple menus. I probably will have to just go to the store more often since it involves fresh foods. He’s not actually said he’s testing if he’s in ketosis. He had alcohol if it’s day gin and diet tonic it probably won’t take you out for long. But you can test it. You’re a dr!!!

In the cycling community, the whole feeding/fueling strategy to prevent “bonking” is based on a maximum caloric storage (between muscle cells and liver) of about 2,000. Since virtually all riders are carb fuelers, emptying happens in about three hours on the bike riding at 75-85% of max heart rate on a typical 50-80 mile club group ride. I wonder what my blood sugar before & after ride readings would be? If the urban legend of the liver storing 2,000 calories happens to be an accurate estimation, could one enter ketosis immediately, or within a day (post ride)?
I first started thinking of adopting this food macro distribution about six years ago when I first moved to CO from CA. I had met a fellow in the local cycling club who was two years into “keto”. We rode a 200k (124 miler) over about 8 hours on a windy, hilly course. Our energy output and ability was similar, while I had to pack my jersey pockets (3) with sushi rice based bars and grain based bars consuming 300 cals hourly, my riding pal “Denver Thor” only drank water! He claimed that he had an unlimited supply of body fat to fuel with. One more fact: I drove to the ride and drove home afterwards. He rode to the ride, and rode back home after the ride — 50 miles+124 miles+50 miles with only salty water with a magnesium powder added in.

If you wanna lose weight? Move!!!! Diets are meaningless if your not moving. Do something like ride your bike, treadmill, stair master, anything to get you moving. Don’t be afraid to work up a sweat. Stay away from sugars and salts as much as possible. Try living a bodybuilders lifestyle. As you can see, bodybuilders on stage doesn’t lie, right? You can eat what you want as long as you eat potion sizes, not overloading yourself with so much food per sitting. The point here is to Move to lose weight.
I did keto for two years and wanted to share my great results. And let me tell you I followed all the protocols to a tee. First off I didn’t loose any more weight than a standard reduced calorie diet in that given time frame. But this is where the keto diet differed for me. Cholesterol over three hundred, a major heart attack, three stents, 35 percent lost in heart function. Oh I get to carry nitro glycerin around for the rest of my life too. Yippee!!, thanx Dr Boz,, Im a 17st 55yo male and i started your KETO diet on Sunday 04/8/19, its the 6th day and ive lost 12Ibs, Arghhhh,,,,wednesday i had too much protein and lost under a 1lb, but i lost 2Ib in one day thurs-friday so im back on track, got one more day to loose 2Ib to make it 1st in the first week,,i think i’ll do it,,,WOW, to loose 2Ib a day, thats a bag of sugar AMAZING, dont you just love ketosis,,, ive allways been around 13st, but 5 years ago i gave up smoking and i piled it on to be 17st, i think my testosterone has lowered which dont help,,,Eeeek!!!
If your can’t justify the extra price of the continuous price of the ketone blood meter. Do u recommend a breath ketone meter?, I’d rather something that I don’t keep putting alot of money in. I found a nice blood glucose meter. But I can’t see paying 1$ or more per strip. And then really only testing once a week to save money:/

Lost 52lbs in 4 months on keto (50, male). Neighbors thought I had cancer LOL. Remarkably, I drank a six pack of beer every single day on keto and still the weight just melted off. The worst part of the whole keto experience, besides the initial irritability lasting a couple of weeks, was bouts of insomnia and light-headedness while doing physical work. I solved the dizziness/fainting feeling by immediately eating a pinch or two of quality sea salt literally eating a pinch of Maldon salt flakes washed down with a small amount of water. Avoid all cardio other than short walks. Zero fruit. Read labels to avoid sugar; for example, milk is LOADED with sugar and I had no idea after all these years. Once you’re in the zone you literally have no hunger and I found myself often eating one meal a day. You know you’re there when you push your plate away with food still left. Then you trip out watching fat people obsess about eating 3+ meals a day and giving their kids sugary snacks between meals etc.

The thing is that’s hard for me, is 4 tablespoons of butter is…hundreds of calories. So with high fat…the portions are so small I feel like it’s so obvious to loose weight BUT I REALLY WISH the videos were honest that you DONT get to eat as much as you want whenever you want. The fats are so high in calorie you eat actually SO SO SO little. I want people to KNOW what they are getting into.
Almond butta is the truth!!! I use ghee and Kerry Gold irsh butta. I have Lupus and Sjogren’s these autoimmune diseases kick my ass but on Keto, it’s been so much different inflammation is almost non-existence.

The reason I started Keto is (next to weightloss) because I suffer from a bad daily head ache. That I wake up with every day and if I eat it gets a little better. Keto saved my sight… literally. Im T2 Diabetic… and I experience Diabetic Retinopathy 3 years ago. I lost my sight and didn’t know if it was going to return. I unintentionally went full Keto. I say unintentionally because I wasn’t aware I was doing it. I just became so fearful of eating anything with carbs and sugar. Like, I literally broke down crying when my nutritionist scolded me and told me to eat bread… but, I continued with my keto. And I not only lost 40 pounds, but my sight returned. It’s really a mindset change actually everything you are before you can find equivalent substitutes for and ot does work REALLY fast especially if you go full on 0cb. Some say it’s a crash diet but that’s only if you stay at 0. You can eat more as well just keep it at 0 you dont have to starve it’s easy good for cutting water retention good for training, and reaching specific weight classes
I’m on day 4. No headaches. I don’t feel hungry or crave sweets. But I did throw up I don’t know if it’s something I ate which was all fresh food or apart of the keto.:( better now.

Maltodextrine cause my first plateau after starting keto. In 5 weeks: lost 3 ounces. There are so many gotchas in grocery stores. She’s right! Do the research first. Read the ingredients label. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO EAT SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNTS OF FAT TO BE IN KETOSIS!!! It is not healthy to eat A LOT of fat…. you can do keto by limiting net carbs to under 30 while simultaneously watching your calorie intake. As long as your ratios are similar to 70% fat, 25% protein, and 5% carbs. MyFitnessPal is also extremely inaccurate during keto, carb manager is much more accurate and effective! Stay smart!

I have watched so many keto videos and you are the only one who has mentioned the issues of the headache and the fruits and i am so glad that you mentioned that! The keto headaches are so crippling and they are usually the reason i break keto
It’s great to see people doing keto and losing weight. I started last week and lost 10 pounds already. But I am making sure my electrolytes are taken care of, that’s what causes the headache. This is my second time on keto and from the start itself I have kept myself hydrated with electrolytes, hence no headache or lack of sleep. I suffered these the first time I did it.

my problem is diet soda I drink water too but I like diet soda and I can’t get away from it it’s like my one thing I like in life if I go out and have a pint which is once a year that’s the big deal for me I don’t need low-carb products off the market I don’t buy low-carb I buy no carb because low-carb products lie. There sugar in there they’re not telling us about their sugar alcohols in their you actually actually have to go down the list and read the ingredients as well as the list that tells you all the fats and sugars in it. I was at Kmart tonight and I wanted something crunchy like pretzels I’m a pretzel bandit I love the butter snaps and the snaps by Hanover okay so I pick up this bag of long french fries it almost looks like you know that puffed Cheez-Its it says it got 16 carbs and only one or less than one sugar. But something just tells me inside but that is a processed food and they’re lying there’s got to be more wouldn’t hidden sugar in that because sugar and salt is the main ingredient in every single American food product sold on the shelves and in the dairy sections even if it’s cheese the biggest component of cheese besides the milk is salt because American cows are given a gigantic salt block to lick and that’s why Army has so much salt in it you know any you’re okay in the UK they do not take American beef anymore because of what we give them in the way of antibiotics and the amount of sodium even Campbell soup sold in the UK yes it is, has to reduce the sodium on like an America where it’s 1800 grams of sodium for a can of soup and now supposedly yes the little red can is supposed to have as much as 2.5 servings in it are you out of your freaking mind everybody on this Earth knows is that even a child need a half a can of soup by itself and most kids especially teenagers will be almost a whole can of soup to themselves so I don’t buy soup point. I guess my point is I’m having trouble getting it started again the weight loss I tried to eat meat and maybe I’ll have a couple string beans or little drop a broccoli or brussel sprouts or cauliflower but in all honesty it’s such a small portion.
Keto for 5 years, did better than ever, skipped christmas because of sweets, did bananas/apples, a spoon of sugar in coffee to make sure i dont lose natural insulin production. Did keto + vegan… that was a nightmare
So I started Keto a little over a month ago and my weight loss was really fast to start. My starting weight was 285 and now I’m down to 263 but I’ve had a few days where my weight loss has plateaued it hasn’t gotten me down I’m still trying to get down to my goal weight of 235 wish me luck!
Keto = buying meat and veggies at your local store and making your own salad dressings from scratch. Buying premade packaged/canned items is not what the diet is about. Also being exhausted early on keto is normal, go a few weeks and stamina comes back with a vengeance. I coach wrestling and can wrestle without any issues at high output much longer than on glucose. BTW, eating on Keto is OPTIONAL, you can just fast. Once you’re fat adapted you just eat when you want. Keto is the only diet I’ve been able to follow. I will say I’m on the more lenient spectrum. I do still eat carbs, but not bad carbs if you know what I mean. I’ve cut sugar completely, though. I keep carbs for the energy since I’m trying to cut caffeine. I have never felt better. I just gotta have bread every now and then. Also any diet that allows me to eat cheese is a winner. Also keto has some of the most creative recipes. It’s also one of the downsides. You have to cook and plan EVERYTHING for the most part. I live with my parents while in school, and neither of them care to diet. I practically eat what they buy, and they don’t want to buy a lot of good food or cook all the time. When I move out, I plan to be a lot better about this diet. It’s the only one that’s helped me lose weight so far.
I have been on keto for 7 months, I have lost about 60lbs with weight lifting and intermittent fasting. I have another 60lbs to go for my goal weight. Its nice that what would have taken years to achieve, I can see progress within a short time. Also, about 3 months in when you become truly fat adaptive, you can cheat much easier. I can go back into ketosis within 1/2 a day. Also cravings were gone by that point. Sometimes I dont even know its time for a meal because I almost always feel satiated.

However after my friend follow it, and finally lost plenty of weight by using it without starving herself. I’m persuaded. Don’t take my own word for it, search for Custokebon Secrets on google.

You should make your own decision. Get off the sugar. Get off the whole grains and fruits and starches. Get off the processed foods. Try Keto. You’ll be glad you did. I already had a tendency to do Keto, but still kept my bread and some cereals. Consequence: weight loss has been stagnating since…beginning of December. At Christmas, we went to my mum, and there I ate differently. Much fatter, with hardly any workout. When back home, I lost 2 kg during one and a half week. Interesting, hm? Back home and eating as before (calorie counting, tea tracking, yadda, yadda, I have gotten that almost back. Now it is the point where I seriously want to do Keto.

No wonder you were getting tired on Keto! In all honesty, you don’t even know how to put a proper Keto meal together. That’s not Keto diet you’ve been doing. Most of your meals at least the ones you show in the clip lack the right combination of carbs protein and fat to keep your insuline in check. You were basically following a mini-Atkins diet, not a Keto diet.

I like that you wear your white coat for authenticity! But in all seriousness this was really helpful for me. I’m just over 24hrs in and i’m really struggling to concentrate and i am already craving carbs like bread even though i’m eating plenty of the suggested keto foods. This helped me to visualise all the good things going on in my body.

I went back on keto yesterday! I’m pretty active now, but not losing weight like I did on keto. Honestly, I stopped because I was lazy with food prep. And then I just started eating all the ice cream I wanted. Slippery slope.
For your lunch, you could have had a salad with the tuna an mayo. I think the biggest misconception about keto is that you can’t eat veggies. You just have to know which ones you can have.

As far as eating healthy outside of keto, the packaged meats you are buying appear to be processed, try buying fresh. Check the packages for Sodium nitrite or nitrate. Those are common in processed meats to help preserve it, but are quite harmful when digested, known carcinogen. This is what is harmful in bacon.

You show 16 grams of peanut butter is a TBL, but then you list a serving on cheese as 14 grams. So I use part of a TBL? Do you see what I’m saying?

Are your family also doing Keto? My husband would never give up his potatoes a d chips (crisps) and sliced bread. I can’t keep those things out of the house. This reminds me of the Atkins diet, which I did years ago. I did well on it for a while but I fell off the wagon.

As someone doing Keto, I wouldn’t suggest the romaine lettuce in the salad. Something more calorie dense, even a little Kale or something. Also, the snacks could have more variety:) You don’t want to eat such similar things, variety in your diet is healthy:)

Amazing and interesting video. I lost 11 pounds in my first 4 days of doing the Keto diet combined with intermittent fasting and exercise. Then on day 5 couldn’t hold my self and ate 2 slices of pizza with a cup of soda and gained 2 pounds and I felt so tired and exhausted with the carbs and fall asleep for a couple of minutes. This is fantastic. I’ve been doing a keto diet for 4 weeks. I’ve been really strict. I’ve done the whole30 every year for the past 4 years, so I’m used to the discipline aspect and weeding things out. I have noticed a decrease in appetite over the last few weeks, but I haven’t seen a lot of weight loss. Neither has my wife. Maybe 5 lbs. each. Maybe. I feel like the issue is getting enough fat every day. 75-80% seems hard to do. I think we’re eating more protein and not enough fat. Carbs are very low. Aside from eating a stick of butter, how can one get more fat? Thanks.

I’ve got a fancy quart sized teapot that I just love. Instead of chugging water all day I make a lot of herbal teas both caffeinated and not. I’ll boil up water in the kettle on the stove and pour it into my pot and just sip on steaming cups of tea or hot lemon water all day. It’s very soothing to my stomach and I find it far more enjoyable.
It is critical these days to read labels, sugar everywhere:( I noticed I love fatty steaks and then butter, goose fat and eggs, I am not big fan of fat. I have to convince myself more.

The greatest thing I ever did was got off the Keto diet and then I learned to eat whole foods and yes calories matter on any diet. I eat plenty of fruit, whole grain bread. lean meats and I am mentally happy and thin. On Keto I was depressed with low energy. Portions matter it’s all about calories. You could loose weight eating candy bars if you do not go over your calories:)
Keto diet is simple…. Eat like you live on a farm with fresh veggies, poultry, beef, pork etc. Than pretend there is a drought so eat sparingly, like no more than twice per 24 hr period. Than go outside and pray for more ☔

I have been keto for 7 months now, it is more work but meals on the go are so easy. Cub a cucumber, can of tuna, some olive oil mayo, some spices. Add some cheese crisps for texture and put it in the fridge at work. You really need to use google more =-)

I’m at an impasse here… I have never been a big meat eater, but knowing it’s a necessity on keto I prepared myself. So I read all the books, and the blogs and watched as many keto videos as I possibly could. Went on amazon and spent a ton of money on all the things I needed to meal prep, some “tune your keto” supplements, to keep my nutrients where they should be, spent a fortune on all the foods recommended and stocked my fridge, freezer and pantry in preparation. (I also stocked up on good high alkaline water, to help with the keto flu) Then I choose my start date. Within 3 days I was in ketosis (I checked my ketones daily) my ketones were actually very high on the third day. I was loosing about 2 lbs a day (one day I lost 3lbs) after almost a week I was very nauseous, jittery and couldn’t stomach anything at all so I went 2 full days without eating, just drinking water as much as I could without getting sick. I just don’t know what to do, I tried but none of the keto foods are palatable at this point. I’m not sure what to do here. I want to do this, but I’m not sure if eating this food is sustainable for me. I just don’t care for meat and high fat food. Is there a way around this or some trick to help me. Please, HELP..?? (I also bought a subscription to carb manager app, lol)
I’ve read that it’s it ok to have small quantities of berries during the keto diet, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, et. They say you can eat about a handful a day since they’re very low in carbs. Have you eaten any or do you eat any berries on your Keto diet? If you have, did you find them ok or did they have a negative effect?
Always good to check ingredients in supermarket hamburger patties and sausages for fillers and binding agents. They are usually maize flour and other things like chemicals made by the big additive suppliers to butchers. So even small butcher shops use this sort of stuff.
I was thinking maybe to start off, rather than throwing all that food away… could you perhaps set a date when you’re going to start say a few weeks in advance,that would give you enough time to use up as much food with carbs as possible before you start Ketones diet?

Good video before shopping write a list (from your suggestions) then you can stay focused and not be tempted by none keto products or even better do an online shop!
Fresh fruit = bad….bacon/butter = good….that should tell you all you need to know about this ridiculous eating plan…imo….losing weight and being fit is not rocket science….eat clean and be active and your set….btw it’s not the apple or banana that you eat every day that’s keeping you fat….

Hello Christina thank you for all your great advice but I must say the one advice I could not apply is a throwing everything away I have a 13 year old son and a husband who is skinny as a rail and they both have carbs I cannot put them on a diet they don’t need to be on a diet at least for weight loss as I do I’ve been on keto now for 4 months lost about 25 lb so far and I do have to work my way around all the carbs in the kitchen so my advice would be if there’s a family out there like mine where you can’t throw away the carbs you can still do it! You will have to have willpower and to keep the carbs in different cabinets so you don’t have to go to them everyday all the time that helps me changing where you keep the carbs made a big difference so maybe that could be my advice to anyone was in my same situation good luck!

You mention alcohol kicked you out of keto. That is not the case. It was the soda you mixed with it. Alcohol will stall keto but not kick you out. It must be hard alcohol though, not most beers or wines.
Im trying to avoid all carbs and sugar but it’s hard esp when u live with ppl, and u like to go out now and then… trying to do intermittent fasting it helps with cravings ALOT.
I did keto for two years and wanted to share my great results. And let me tell you I followed all the protocols to a tee. First off I didn’t loose any more weight than a standard reduced calorie diet in that given time frame. But this is where the keto diet differed for me. No soy sauce? It’s time for the lunar new year and my family usually makes dumplings which I was a bit sad I couldn’t eat (just started keto but I’m motivated to stick to it). I found a keto dumpling dough recipe hoping to be able to eat dumplings (since the filling is really just pork, veggies like chive and Napa cabbage and of course, soy sauce). Would it be fine if I ate it? Most websites I’ve read have said soy sauce is fine for keto?
Are your family also doing Keto? My husband would never give up his potatoes a d chips (crisps) and sliced bread. I can’t keep those things out of the house. This reminds me of the Atkins diet, which I did years ago. I did well on it for a while but I fell off the wagon.

Update!!! back on here after a month and I’ve lost 22 pounds so far!!! I eat one meal a day and I fast for 23 hours and exercise ( walk/run) 2 hours a day. You can do it guys!!!

When I started reviewing your journey videos and the mistakes you made and that I would need to keep it simple, I started laughing because of my experience from past dieting I know that I think exactly like you when I am dieting.I will learn from your experiences. I will be starting in Jan. I’m cleaning cupboards and making a list of simple menus. I probably will have to just go to the store more often since it involves fresh foods. Amazing and interesting video. I lost 11 pounds in my first 4 days of doing the Keto diet combined with intermittent fasting and exercise. Then on day 5 couldn’t hold my self and ate 2 slices of pizza with a cup of soda and gained 2 pounds and I felt so tired and exhausted with the carbs and fall asleep for a couple of minutes. Oh I felt soooo guilty.
I want to start keto but as someone who doesn’t have the financial resources to purchase a keto app at this time. I have no idea how to keep up with macros. I have the beginners simple keto grocery list and snack list. I like to keep things simple. I have no idea how many calories a day I need or if I am supposed to eat 2 or 3 meals a day or if sugar or sweeteners are allowed and how much. I like that you wear your white coat for authenticity! But in all seriousness this was really helpful for me. I’m just over 24hrs in and i’m really struggling to concentrate and i am already craving carbs like bread even though i’m eating plenty of the suggested keto foods. In the cycling community, the whole feeding/fueling strategy to prevent “bonking” is based on a maximum caloric storage (between muscle cells and liver) of about 2,000. Since virtually all riders are carb fuelers, emptying happens in about three hours on the bike riding at 75-85% of max heart rate on a typical 50-80 mile club group ride. I wonder what my blood sugar before & after ride readings would be? If the urban legend of the liver storing 2,000 calories happens to be an accurate estimation, could one enter ketosis immediately, or within a day (post ride)?
I first started thinking of adopting this food macro distribution about six years ago when I first moved to CO from CA. I had met a fellow in the local cycling club who was two years into “keto”. We rode a 200k (124 miler) over about 8 hours on a windy, hilly course. Our energy output and ability was similar, while I had to pack my jersey pockets (3) with sushi rice based bars and grain based bars consuming 300 cals hourly, my riding pal “Denver Thor” only drank water! He claimed that he had an unlimited supply of body fat to fuel with. One more fact: I drove to the ride and drove home afterwards. He rode to the ride, and rode back home after the ride — 50 miles+124 miles+50 miles with only salty water with a magnesium powder added in.

Always good to check ingredients in supermarket hamburger patties and sausages for fillers and binding agents. They are usually maize flour and other things like chemicals made by the big additive suppliers to butchers. So even small butcher shops use this sort of stuff.

I purchased your plan yesterday and while I like the plan, I recommend the following: only use cup measurements, not grams. For example, how many eggs is 112 grams? You show 16 grams of peanut butter is a TBL, but then you list a serving on cheese as 14 grams. So I use part of a TBL? Do you see what I’m saying?
My husband and I are in keto. We found it hard at first, but it’s gets easier as you do trial and error. My family has a history of diabetes so I want to change my habits before I become diabetic. My last a1c was a 5.2. My fibromyalgia has also been better on this diet. Thanks for creating educational videos:)

What an eye opener for me. I’ve done Keto 3 times before and quit every time due to chronic constipation. I’ve learned so much from you in just 2 days of watching your videos….the chia seeds, the salt, and so much information on insulin resistance. I’m one of those people who works out like a fiend walking miles a day and doing circuit and hiit training…but is still 40 pounds over weight. I had been doing the Mediterranean diet for 8 months and lost 9 pounds. Not a good result, considering that My doctor told me to loose 30 pounds ASAP…giving me a diagnosis of pre diabetes. She told me to go on the Mediterranean diet. I felt ashamed that I can’t lose the weight. So I have just avoided going back for my labs. Thank you for this tremendous knowledge and for inspiring us.

Lost 52lbs in 4 months on keto (50, male). Neighbors thought I had cancer LOL. Remarkably, I drank a six pack of beer every single day on keto and still the weight just melted off. The worst part of the whole keto experience, besides the initial irritability lasting a couple of weeks, was bouts of insomnia and light-headedness while doing physical work. I solved the dizziness/fainting feeling by immediately eating a pinch or two of quality sea salt literally eating a pinch of Maldon salt flakes washed down with a small amount of water. Avoid all cardio other than short walks. Zero fruit. Read labels to avoid sugar; for example, milk is LOADED with sugar and I had no idea after all these years. Once you’re in the zone you literally have no hunger and I found myself often eating one meal a day. You know you’re there when you push your plate away with food still left. Then you trip out watching fat people obsess about eating 3+ meals a day and giving their kids sugary snacks between meals etc.

As far as eating healthy outside of keto, the packaged meats you are buying appear to be processed, try buying fresh. Check the packages for Sodium nitrite or nitrate. Those are common in processed meats to help preserve it, but are quite harmful when digested, known carcinogen. This is what is harmful in bacon.

As someone doing Keto, I wouldn’t suggest the romaine lettuce in the salad. Something more calorie dense, even a little Kale or something. Also, the snacks could have more variety:) You don’t want to eat such similar things, variety in your diet is healthy:)

Keto diet is simple…. Eat like you live on a farm with fresh veggies, poultry, beef, pork etc. Than pretend there is a drought so eat sparingly, like no more than twice per 24 hr period. Than go outside and pray for more ☔

Started a week ago. Wish I would have found this even though I did keto before. I have been suffering with the flu but my weight isn’t down. I forgot about supplements!
Though I’m fascinated with this diet and all the testimonies of good results from it, I feel it’s pointless for me to attempt it. I don’t like the foods that are staples of the diet (cheese, bacon, dark meat chicken, boiled eggs). I love legumes, and most other fruits and veggies! I don’t eat a lot of bread, so giving that up wouldn’t bother me. Same with pasta.

Yes, first month I found a friend who had literally no food so she was glad to take all my margarine, cereals, canned goods with non keto veggies, my flour, sugar, and sweetened yogurt. I gave her all my grains, noodles, ragu and sauces with sugar. I felt better doing this tan just throwing it out. I also gave her fresh and canned fruits that had the high sugar content. End result, was I gave all my temptations away and she wasn’t starving. Also, the first few weeks is costly, getting real organic butter, cheeses, meats, and vegetable. Also the MCT oil, potassium and magnesium choices and cream supply is not cheap. After a while I found that I only buy what I am going to eat. Avocados. good luck, ask Jesus to help you along and be patient and do t give up, amen!! are a must. Have fun, use leftovers for lunch lacks, drink plenty of salted water or drops to your water.
For electrolyte drink, mix:
1 liter of water
1 teaspoon of Himalayan or Sea Salt
1/2 teaspoon of Baking Soda
1 tablespoon of Raw Organic Honey
1 lime juice
You can add more limes if you want.

Omg you threw away most of that red onion. Plus with asparagus bend it till it snaps naturally. Mushrooms should be rubbed very gently with a damp paper towel or use a pastry brush. Mushroom just soak up the water. Have you tried frozen spinach? Must cheaper than fresh.

No soy sauce? It’s time for the lunar new year and my family usually makes dumplings which I was a bit sad I couldn’t eat (just started keto but I’m motivated to stick to it). I found a keto dumpling dough recipe hoping to be able to eat dumplings (since the filling is really just pork, veggies like chive and Napa cabbage and of course, soy sauce). Would it be fine if I ate it? Most websites I’ve read have said soy sauce is fine for keto?
What happens if the curve ball I’m thrown is out of my hands? My son is getting married and we have a taste testing session with the venue where I have to try the options presented? my problem is diet soda I drink water too but I like diet soda and I can’t get away from it it’s like my one thing I like in life if I go out and have a pint which is once a year that’s the big deal for me I don’t need low-carb products off the market I don’t buy low-carb I buy no carb because low-carb products lie. There sugar in there they’re not telling us about their sugar alcohols in their you actually actually have to go down the list and read the ingredients as well as the list that tells you all the fats and sugars in it. I was at Kmart tonight and I wanted something crunchy like pretzels I’m a pretzel bandit I love the butter snaps and the snaps by Hanover okay so I pick up this bag of long french fries it almost looks like you know that puffed Cheez-Its it says it got 16 carbs and only one or less than one sugar. But something just tells me inside but that is a processed food and they’re lying there’s got to be more wouldn’t hidden sugar in that because sugar and salt is the main ingredient in every single American food product sold on the shelves and in the dairy sections even if it’s cheese the biggest component of cheese besides the milk is salt because American cows are given a gigantic salt block to lick and that’s why Army has so much salt in it you know any you’re okay in the UK they do not take American beef anymore because of what we give them in the way of antibiotics and the amount of sodium even Campbell soup sold in the UK yes it is, has to reduce the sodium on like an America where it’s 1800 grams of sodium for a can of soup and now supposedly yes the little red can is supposed to have as much as 2.5 servings in it are you out of your freaking mind everybody on this Earth knows is that even a child need a half a can of soup by itself and most kids especially teenagers will be almost a whole can of soup to themselves so I don’t buy soup point. I guess my point is I’m having trouble getting it started again the weight loss I tried to eat meat and maybe I’ll have a couple string beans or little drop a broccoli or brussel sprouts or cauliflower but in all honesty it’s such a small portion.

I’m at an impasse here… I have never been a big meat eater, but knowing it’s a necessity on keto I prepared myself. So I read all the books, and the blogs and watched as many keto videos as I possibly could. Went on amazon and spent a ton of money on all the things I needed to meal prep, some “tune your keto” supplements, to keep my nutrients where they should be, spent a fortune on all the foods recommended and stocked my fridge, freezer and pantry in preparation. (I also stocked up on good high alkaline water, to help with the keto flu) Then I choose my start date. Within 3 days I was in ketosis (I checked my ketones daily) my ketones were actually very high on the third day. I was loosing about 2 lbs a day (one day I lost 3lbs) after almost a week I was very nauseous, jittery and couldn’t stomach anything at all so I went 2 full days without eating, just drinking water as much as I could without getting sick. I just don’t know what to do, I tried but none of the keto foods are palatable at this point. I’m not sure what to do here. I want to do this, but I’m not sure if eating this food is sustainable for me. I just don’t care for meat and high fat food. Is there a way around this or some trick to help me. Please, HELP..?? (I also bought a subscription to carb manager app, lol)
I’ve read that it’s it ok to have small quantities of berries during the keto diet, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, et. They say you can eat about a handful a day since they’re very low in carbs. Have you eaten any or do you eat any berries on your Keto diet? If you have, did you find them ok or did they have a negative effect?

I was thinking maybe to start off, rather than throwing all that food away… could you perhaps set a date when you’re going to start say a few weeks in advance,that would give you enough time to use up as much food with carbs as possible before you start Ketones diet?

We are on week 3 on Keto diet have about 50lbs to loose and only had a slight headache about the 3rd day. Cravings for carbs is gone and I still have all the carbs in my house, but my body is NOT Craving them anymore. Thanks for sharing what you know and what you experienced Christina! New Sub’r!

I’ve got a fancy quart sized teapot that I just love. Instead of chugging water all day I make a lot of herbal teas both caffeinated and not. I’ll boil up water in the kettle on the stove and pour it into my pot and just sip on steaming cups of tea or hot lemon water all day. It’s very soothing to my stomach and I find it far more enjoyable.

Good video before shopping write a list (from your suggestions) then you can stay focused and not be tempted by none keto products or even better do an online shop!

Hello Christina thank you for all your great advice but I must say the one advice I could not apply is a throwing everything away I have a 13 year old son and a husband who is skinny as a rail and they both have carbs I cannot put them on a diet they don’t need to be on a diet at least for weight loss as I do I’ve been on keto now for 4 months lost about 25 lb so far and I do have to work my way around all the carbs in the kitchen so my advice would be if there’s a family out there like mine where you can’t throw away the carbs you can still do it! You will have to have willpower and to keep the carbs in different cabinets so you don’t have to go to them everyday all the time that helps me changing where you keep the carbs made a big difference so maybe that could be my advice to anyone was in my same situation good luck!
Though I’m fascinated with this diet and all the testimonies of good results from it, I feel it’s pointless for me to attempt it. I don’t like the foods that are staples of the diet (cheese, bacon, dark meat chicken, boiled eggs). I love legumes, and most other fruits and veggies! I don’t eat a lot of bread, so giving that up wouldn’t bother me. Same with pasta.
I’m confused, in a previous video of yours you said to lose weight you need to eat low fat keto so your body burns it’s own fat, which makes total sense. This video you’re saying to eat eggs, bacon and avocado for breakfast and fat a protein for remaining day. Confusing..,

When I started reviewing your journey videos and the mistakes you made and that I would need to keep it simple, I started laughing because of my experience from past dieting I know that I think exactly like you when I am dieting.I will learn from your experiences. I will be starting in Jan. I’m cleaning cupboards and making a list of simple menus. I probably will have to just go to the store more often since it involves fresh foods. He’s not actually said he’s testing if he’s in ketosis. He had alcohol if it’s day gin and diet tonic it probably won’t take you out for long. But you can test it. You’re a dr!!!

I would like to see a discussion of “Keto for Skinny People.” With a BMI of 18 it’s possible that I’m just doing everything right, but my research tells me that going keto and reducing blood glucose spikes is the way to go for long-term health. As I try to move in that direction my decades-old aversion to fats (based on doctor recommendations) is definitely an obstacle. But, when I notice the large number and types of carbohydrates versus the low number of fats I consume daily the logic of more fat, less carbs certainly does make sense. But, can a skinny person do this and stay healthy?

This explains why I have resting glucose levels often above 100! FInally! OK I am getting my glucometer back out and really dealing with the issue now that I get it.

In the cycling community, the whole feeding/fueling strategy to prevent “bonking” is based on a maximum caloric storage (between muscle cells and liver) of about 2,000. Since virtually all riders are carb fuelers, emptying happens in about three hours on the bike riding at 75-85% of max heart rate on a typical 50-80 mile club group ride. I wonder what my blood sugar before & after ride readings would be? If the urban legend of the liver storing 2,000 calories happens to be an accurate estimation, could one enter ketosis immediately, or within a day (post ride)?
I first started thinking of adopting this food macro distribution about six years ago when I first moved to CO from CA. I had met a fellow in the local cycling club who was two years into “keto”. We rode a 200k (124 miler) over about 8 hours on a windy, hilly course. Our energy output and ability was similar, while I had to pack my jersey pockets (3) with sushi rice based bars and grain based bars consuming 300 cals hourly, my riding pal “Denver Thor” only drank water! He claimed that he had an unlimited supply of body fat to fuel with. One more fact: I drove to the ride and drove home afterwards. He rode to the ride, and rode back home after the ride — 50 miles+124 miles+50 miles with only salty water with a magnesium powder added in.

Diets are meaningless if your not moving. Do something like ride your bike, treadmill, stair master, anything to get you moving. Don’t be afraid to work up a sweat. Stay away from sugars and salts as much as possible.

Lost 52lbs in 4 months on keto (50, male). Neighbors thought I had cancer LOL. Remarkably, I drank a six pack of beer every single day on keto and still the weight just melted off. The worst part of the whole keto experience, besides the initial irritability lasting a couple of weeks, was bouts of insomnia and light-headedness while doing physical work. I solved the dizziness/fainting feeling by immediately eating a pinch or two of quality sea salt literally eating a pinch of Maldon salt flakes washed down with a small amount of water. Avoid all cardio other than short walks. Zero fruit. Read labels to avoid sugar; for example, milk is LOADED with sugar and I had no idea after all these years. Once you’re in the zone you literally have no hunger and I found myself often eating one meal a day. You know you’re there when you push your plate away with food still left. Then you trip out watching fat people obsess about eating 3+ meals a day and giving their kids sugary snacks between meals etc.

The thing is that’s hard for me, is 4 tablespoons of butter is…hundreds of calories. So with high fat…the portions are so small I feel like it’s so obvious to loose weight BUT I REALLY WISH the videos were honest that you DONT get to eat as much as you want whenever you want. The fats are so high in calorie you eat actually SO SO SO little. I want people to KNOW what they are getting into.
Almond butta is the truth!!! I use ghee and Kerry Gold irsh butta. I have Lupus and Sjogren’s these autoimmune diseases kick my ass but on Keto, it’s been so much different inflammation is almost non-existence.
I’m confused, in a previous video of yours you said to lose weight you need to eat low fat keto so your body burns it’s own fat, which makes total sense. This video you’re saying to eat eggs, bacon and avocado for breakfast and fat a protein for remaining day. Confusing..,

It’s honestly a miracle diet. Doesn’t leave you starved, can eat good hearty foods and you lose a ton of weight. Been on it two months and lost 42lb.
The reason I started Keto is (next to weightloss) because I suffer from a bad daily head ache. That I wake up with every day and if I eat it gets a little better. Keto saved my sight… literally. Im T2 Diabetic… and I experience Diabetic Retinopathy 3 years ago. I lost my sight and didn’t know if it was going to return. I unintentionally went full Keto. I say unintentionally because I wasn’t aware I was doing it. I just became so fearful of eating anything with carbs and sugar. It’s really a mindset change actually everything you are before you can find equivalent substitutes for and ot does work REALLY fast especially if you go full on 0cb. Some say it’s a crash diet but that’s only if you stay at 0. You can eat more as well just keep it at 0 you dont have to starve it’s easy good for cutting water retention good for training, and reaching specific weight classes
I’m on day 4. No headaches. I don’t feel hungry or crave sweets. But I did throw up I don’t know if it’s something I ate which was all fresh food or apart of the keto.:( better now.

As long as your ratios are similar to 70% fat, 25% protein, and 5% carbs. MyFitnessPal is also extremely inaccurate during keto, carb manager is much more accurate and effective! Stay smart!

It’s great to see people doing keto and losing weight. I started last week and lost 10 pounds already. But I am making sure my electrolytes are taken care of, that’s what causes the headache. This is my second time on keto and from the start itself I have kept myself hydrated with electrolytes, hence no headache or lack of sleep. I suffered these the first time I did it.

my problem is diet soda I drink water too but I like diet soda and I can’t get away from it it’s like my one thing I like in life if I go out and have a pint which is once a year that’s the big deal for me I don’t need low-carb products off the market I don’t buy low-carb I buy no carb because low-carb products lie. There sugar in there they’re not telling us about their sugar alcohols in their you actually actually have to go down the list and read the ingredients as well as the list that tells you all the fats and sugars in it. I was at Kmart tonight and I wanted something crunchy like pretzels I’m a pretzel bandit I love the butter snaps and the snaps by Hanover okay so I pick up this bag of long french fries it almost looks like you know that puffed Cheez-Its it says it got 16 carbs and only one or less than one sugar. But something just tells me inside but that is a processed food and they’re lying there’s got to be more wouldn’t hidden sugar in that because sugar and salt is the main ingredient in every single American food product sold on the shelves and in the dairy sections even if it’s cheese the biggest component of cheese besides the milk is salt because American cows are given a gigantic salt block to lick and that’s why Army has so much salt in it you know any you’re okay in the UK they do not take American beef anymore because of what we give them in the way of antibiotics and the amount of sodium even Campbell soup sold in the UK yes it is, has to reduce the sodium on like an America where it’s 1800 grams of sodium for a can of soup and now supposedly yes the little red can is supposed to have as much as 2.5 servings in it are you out of your freaking mind everybody on this Earth knows is that even a child need a half a can of soup by itself and most kids especially teenagers will be almost a whole can of soup to themselves so I don’t buy soup point. I guess my point is I’m having trouble getting it started again the weight loss I tried to eat meat and maybe I’ll have a couple string beans or little drop a broccoli or brussel sprouts or cauliflower but in all honesty it’s such a small portion.
Keto for 5 years, did better than ever, skipped christmas because of sweets, did bananas/apples, a spoon of sugar in coffee to make sure i dont lose natural insulin production. Did keto + vegan… that was a nightmare
So I started Keto a little over a month ago and my weight loss was really fast to start. My starting weight was 285 and now I’m down to 263 but I’ve had a few days where my weight loss has plateaued it hasn’t gotten me down I’m still trying to get down to my goal weight of 235 wish me luck!
Keto = buying meat and veggies at your local store and making your own salad dressings from scratch. Buying premade packaged/canned items is not what the diet is about. Also being exhausted early on keto is normal, go a few weeks and stamina comes back with a vengeance. I coach wrestling and can wrestle without any issues at high output much longer than on glucose. BTW, eating on Keto is OPTIONAL, you can just fast. Once you’re fat adapted you just eat when you want. Keto is the only diet I’ve been able to follow. I will say I’m on the more lenient spectrum. I do still eat carbs, but not bad carbs if you know what I mean. I’ve cut sugar completely, though. I keep carbs for the energy since I’m trying to cut caffeine. I have never felt better. I just gotta have bread every now and then.
Also any diet that allows me to eat cheese is a winner.
Also keto has some of the most creative recipes. It’s also one of the downsides. You have to cook and plan EVERYTHING for the most part. I live with my parents while in school, and neither of them care to diet. I practically eat what they buy, and they don’t want to buy a lot of good food or cook all the time. When I move out, I plan to be a lot better about this diet. It’s the only one that’s helped me lose weight so far.
I have been on keto for 7 months, I have lost about 60lbs with weight lifting and intermittent fasting. I have another 60lbs to go for my goal weight. Its nice that what would have taken years to achieve, I can see progress within a short time. Also, about 3 months in when you become truly fat adaptive, you can cheat much easier. I can go back into ketosis within 1/2 a day. Also cravings were gone by that point. Sometimes I dont even know its time for a meal because I almost always feel satiated.

However after my friend follow it, and finally lost plenty of weight by using it without starving herself. I’m persuaded. Don’t take my own word for it, search for Custokebon Secrets on google.

I already had a tendency to do Keto, but still kept my bread and some cereals. Consequence: weight loss has been stagnating since…beginning of December. At Christmas, we went to my mum, and there I ate differently. Much fatter, with hardly any workout. When back home, I lost 2 kg during one and a half week. Interesting, hm? Back home and eating as before (calorie counting, tea tracking, yadda, yadda, I have gotten that almost back. Now it is the point where I seriously want to do Keto.

No wonder you were getting tired on Keto! In all honesty, you don’t even know how to put a proper Keto meal together. That’s not Keto diet you’ve been doing. Most of your meals at least the ones you show in the clip lack the right combination of carbs protein and fat to keep your insuline in check. You were basically following a mini-Atkins diet, not a Keto diet.

I’m just over 24hrs in and i’m really struggling to concentrate and i am already craving carbs like bread even though i’m eating plenty of the suggested keto foods. This helped me to visualise all the good things going on in my body.
From your comment about wanting to munch and only eating nuts. Michael Fassbender eats only almonds before his movies to get super skinny. A friend of mine from Jersey offered to bake him a lasagna and he said he was only eating almonds until his next movie started shooting.

I went back on keto yesterday! I’m pretty active now, but not losing weight like I did on keto. Honestly, I stopped because I was lazy with food prep. And then I just started eating all the ice cream I wanted. Slippery slope.

For your lunch, you could have had a salad with the tuna an mayo. I think the biggest misconception about keto is that you can’t eat veggies. You just have to know which ones you can have.

As far as eating healthy outside of keto, the packaged meats you are buying appear to be processed, try buying fresh. Check the packages for Sodium nitrite or nitrate. Those are common in processed meats to help preserve it, but are quite harmful when digested, known carcinogen. This is what is harmful in bacon.

Are your family also doing Keto? My husband would never give up his potatoes a d chips (crisps) and sliced bread. I can’t keep those things out of the house. This reminds me of the Atkins diet, which I did years ago. I did well on it for a while but I fell off the wagon.

As someone doing Keto, I wouldn’t suggest the romaine lettuce in the salad. Something more calorie dense, even a little Kale or something. Also, the snacks could have more variety:) You don’t want to eat such similar things, variety in your diet is healthy:)

Amazing and interesting video. I lost 11 pounds in my first 4 days of doing the Keto diet combined with intermittent fasting and exercise. Then on day 5 couldn’t hold my self and ate 2 slices of pizza with a cup of soda and gained 2 pounds and I felt so tired and exhausted with the carbs and fall asleep for a couple of minutes. Oh I felt soooo guilty.

Diet Plan known as Custokebon Secrets kept showing up here on a lot of youtube videos and I thought they were scams. However after my friend follow it, and finally lost plenty of weight by using it without starving herself. I’m persuaded. Don’t take my own word for it, search for Custokebon Secrets on google.

This is fantastic. I’ve been doing a keto diet for 4 weeks. I’ve been really strict. I’ve done the whole30 every year for the past 4 years, so I’m used to the discipline aspect and weeding things out. I have noticed a decrease in appetite over the last few weeks, but I haven’t seen a lot of weight loss. Neither has my wife. Maybe 5 lbs. each. Maybe. I feel like the issue is getting enough fat every day. 75-80% seems hard to do. I think we’re eating more protein and not enough fat. Carbs are very low. I want to start keto but as someone who doesn’t have the financial resources to purchase a keto app at this time. I have no idea how to keep up with macros. I have the beginners simple keto grocery list and snack list. I like to keep things simple. I have no idea how many calories a day I need or if I am supposed to eat 2 or 3 meals a day or if sugar or sweeteners are allowed and how much. I just started keto Lesa than a week ago but I am not gettin’ any of the symptoms that appear when someone starts keto,I do loose weight but the rest of the symptoms didn’t show yet
I’ve got a fancy quart sized teapot that I just love. Instead of chugging water all day I make a lot of herbal teas both caffeinated and not. I’ll boil up water in the kettle on the stove and pour it into my pot and just sip on steaming cups of tea or hot lemon water all day. It’s very soothing to my stomach and I find it far more enjoyable.
It is critical these days to read labels, sugar everywhere:( I noticed I love fatty steaks and then butter, goose fat and eggs, I am not big fan of fat. I have to convince myself more.

The greatest thing I ever did was got off the Keto diet and then I learned to eat whole foods and yes calories matter on any diet. I eat plenty of fruit, whole grain bread. lean meats and I am mentally happy and thin. On Keto I was depressed with low energy. Portions matter it’s all about calories. You could loose weight eating candy bars if you do not go over your calories:)
Keto diet is simple…. Eat like you live on a farm with fresh veggies, poultry, beef, pork etc. Than pretend there is a drought so eat sparingly, like no more than twice per 24 hr period. Than go outside and pray for more ☔

I am very new to this Keto Diet. In fact I haven`t started yet because I don`t know what foods to start with. Say for breakfast. What foods would I eat?
I already had a tendency to do Keto, but still kept my bread and some cereals. Consequence: weight loss has been stagnating since…beginning of December. At Christmas, we went to my mum, and there I ate differently. Much fatter, with hardly any workout. When back home, I lost 2 kg during one and a half week. Interesting, hm? Back home and eating as before (calorie counting, tea tracking, yadda, yadda, I have gotten that almost back. Now it is the point where I seriously want to do Keto.
I have been keto for 7 months now, it is more work but meals on the go are so easy. Cub a cucumber, can of tuna, some olive oil mayo, some spices. Add some cheese crisps for texture and put it in the fridge at work. You really need to use google more =-)

I’m at an impasse here… I have never been a big meat eater, but knowing it’s a necessity on keto I prepared myself. So I read all the books, and the blogs and watched as many keto videos as I possibly could. Went on amazon and spent a ton of money on all the things I needed to meal prep, some “tune your keto” supplements, to keep my nutrients where they should be, spent a fortune on all the foods recommended and stocked my fridge, freezer and pantry in preparation. (I also stocked up on good high alkaline water, to help with the keto flu) Then I choose my start date. Within 3 days I was in ketosis (I checked my ketones daily) my ketones were actually very high on the third day. I was loosing about 2 lbs a day (one day I lost 3lbs) after almost a week I was very nauseous, jittery and couldn’t stomach anything at all so I went 2 full days without eating, just drinking water as much as I could without getting sick. I just don’t know what to do, I tried but none of the keto foods are palatable at this point. I’m not sure what to do here. I want to do this, but I’m not sure if eating this food is sustainable for me. I just don’t care for meat and high fat food. Is there a way around this or some trick to help me. Please, HELP..?? (I also bought a subscription to carb manager app, lol)
I’ve read that it’s it ok to have small quantities of berries during the keto diet, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, et. They say you can eat about a handful a day since they’re very low in carbs. Have you eaten any or do you eat any berries on your Keto diet? If you have, did you find them ok or did they have a negative effect?
Always good to check ingredients in supermarket hamburger patties and sausages for fillers and binding agents. They are usually maize flour and other things like chemicals made by the big additive suppliers to butchers. So even small butcher shops use this sort of stuff.
I was thinking maybe to start off, rather than throwing all that food away… could you perhaps set a date when you’re going to start say a few weeks in advance,that would give you enough time to use up as much food with carbs as possible before you start Ketones diet?

Hello Christina thank you for all your great advice but I must say the one advice I could not apply is a throwing everything away I have a 13 year old son and a husband who is skinny as a rail and they both have carbs I cannot put them on a diet they don’t need to be on a diet at least for weight loss as I do I’ve been on keto now for 4 months lost about 25 lb so far and I do have to work my way around all the carbs in the kitchen so my advice would be if there’s a family out there like mine where you can’t throw away the carbs you can still do it! You will have to have willpower and to keep the carbs in different cabinets so you don’t have to go to them everyday all the time that helps me changing where you keep the carbs made a big difference so maybe that could be my advice to anyone was in my same situation good luck!

You mention alcohol kicked you out of keto. That is not the case. It was the soda you mixed with it. Alcohol will stall keto but not kick you out. It must be hard alcohol though, not most beers or wines.
Im trying to avoid all carbs and sugar but it’s hard esp when u live with ppl, and u like to go out now and then… trying to do intermittent fasting it helps with cravings ALOT.
I did keto for two years and wanted to share my great results. And let me tell you I followed all the protocols to a tee. First off I didn’t loose any more weight than a standard reduced calorie diet in that given time frame. But this is where the keto diet differed for me. Cholesterol over three hundred, a major heart attack, three stents, 35 percent lost in heart function. Oh I get to carry nitro glycerin around for the rest of my life too. And I didn’t mention I coded on the table during my heart attack/ stent procedure. Last but not least a $143,000.00 hospital bill. This diet can kill you.
No soy sauce? It’s time for the lunar new year and my family usually makes dumplings which I was a bit sad I couldn’t eat (just started keto but I’m motivated to stick to it). I found a keto dumpling dough recipe hoping to be able to eat dumplings (since the filling is really just pork, veggies like chive and Napa cabbage and of course, soy sauce). Would it be fine if I ate it? Most websites I’ve read have said soy sauce is fine for keto?

Update!!! back on here after a month and I’ve lost 22 pounds so far!!! I eat one meal a day and I fast for 23 hours and exercise ( walk/run) 2 hours a day. You can do it guys!!!

I will be starting in Jan. I’m cleaning cupboards and making a list of simple menus. I probably will have to just go to the store more often since it involves fresh foods. If you want sugar free mayo you have to spend more $. But the way I see it, I’m not buying all these extra packaged foods, so I can trade for a higher priced mayo product without wrecking my budget. I just can’t wait to get past the holidays from birthday cakes and Christmas treats. I’m not eating them, but my family is and I’m tired of seeing them around. People bring them into work as well. Hubby and kids still eat carbs, there’s no tossing anything out in my house. I just need to be vigilant with myself. Thin Within principles help keep my mind and soul in check while keeping keto as my secondary boundaries. My first is 0-5 or hunger and fullness. I’m encouraged by hearing you talk about this. I am on Metformin and Glimeperide for diabetes since age 50. I am now 76. My son shared keto diet and I have been doing it five days.

I am a Diabetic and started doing keto. I have been tracking my fasting BG. It is still high @ 160. The random BG is also @ 160. Please explain whats happening. I am keeping Carbs less than 25gms per day.

I’ve been diabetic for about 6 years, but only about ten pounds overweight. I have been working on emptying my liver since Jan 29. Very Low carb and intermittent fasting with an eating window from 2-6 pm.

If you want sugar free mayo you have to spend more $. But the way I see it, I’m not buying all these extra packaged foods, so I can trade for a higher priced mayo product without wrecking my budget. I just can’t wait to get past the holidays from birthday cakes and Christmas treats. I’m not eating them, but my family is and I’m tired of seeing them around. People bring them into work as well. Hubby and kids still eat carbs, there’s no tossing anything out in my house. I just need to be vigilant with myself. Thin Within principles help keep my mind and soul in check while keeping keto as my secondary boundaries. My first is 0-5 or hunger and fullness. I’m encouraged by hearing you talk about this. Listen to your body!

I just started eating keto about 3 weeks ago and I’m amazed at how easy it has been? I hardly had any keto flu issues (mild headache and some brain fog but only for a day or two) and I haven’t struggled with cravings almost at all??? I feel like this is a dream! It can’t possibly be this simple? my house is still loaded with carbs (even halloween candy!) and yet i’m somehow down 15lbs and not even thinking about sugar (and i’ve been a sugar addict for as long as I can remember). i’m sleeping better, i have more energy and I don’t get hangry anymore! Just from eating bacon? is this magic? It feels like magic.
I’m on day five and just took my first blood sugar reading. 287 I’ve eaten nothing but salmon, some chicken, steak, broccoli, avacadoes, eggs, cauliflower and asparagus and some nuts
I’m starting keto soon. I’ve already made my shopping list and I’ll be doing online grocery delivery, not only because of quarantine but to prevent temptation.

This explains so much. as a African woman carb (rice) is our mean dish. I couldn’t understand why I was on keto for 30days and I couldn’t go into ketosis, that plus I substituted sugar for sweeteners.
I am a Diabetic and started doing keto. I have been tracking my fasting BG. It is still high @ 160. The random BG is also @ 160. Please explain whats happening. I am keeping Carbs less than 25gms per day.
In the cycling community, the whole feeding/fueling strategy to prevent “bonking” is based on a maximum caloric storage (between muscle cells and liver) of about 2,000. Since virtually all riders are carb fuelers, emptying happens in about three hours on the bike riding at 75-85% of max heart rate on a typical 50-80 mile club group ride. I wonder what my blood sugar before & after ride readings would be? If the urban legend of the liver storing 2,000 calories happens to be an accurate estimation, could one enter ketosis immediately, or within a day (post ride)?
I first started thinking of adopting this food macro distribution about six years ago when I first moved to CO from CA. I had met a fellow in the local cycling club who was two years into “keto”. We rode a 200k (124 miler) over about 8 hours on a windy, hilly course. Our energy output and ability was similar, while I had to pack my jersey pockets (3) with sushi rice based bars and grain based bars consuming 300 cals hourly, my riding pal “Denver Thor” only drank water! He claimed that he had an unlimited supply of body fat to fuel with. One more fact: I drove to the ride and drove home afterwards. He rode to the ride, and rode back home after the ride — 50 miles+124 miles+50 miles with only salty water with a magnesium powder added in.

Dr Boz, sorry if this seems rude, but it’s like you are only speaking to Americans and not the rest of the world. In Australia we use mmol/L and you don’t say what unit you use for blood sugar. So what is the level in mmol/L for when you have an empty liver?
I never realised artificial sweeteners ALSO trigger insulin release and cause the liver not to ’empty’.

Woow I’m reaaally impressed by how much plastic bags or containers and aluminum you throw out every time you have to cook. Imagine all that waste somewhere right now… I think it’s better to have different types of hard trays or plates for the oven.
Always good to check ingredients in supermarket hamburger patties and sausages for fillers and binding agents. They are usually maize flour and other things like chemicals made by the big additive suppliers to butchers. So even small butcher shops use this sort of stuff.
Does she dont know that keto is debunked over and over and should not be recommended any more? Has she missed all the negative studies on keto? If you are a bit unlucky then keto is pure poison for your health.

I’ve been on the Keto diet and under 20g carbs for 8 1/2 months but went back to review for my nephew that is planning to give this a try. Awesome into to Keto! This is truly a simple diet, but it’s not easy!
I’m a type 1 diabetic and on an insulin pump since 2009 I still wake up with blood sugar over 120 and as son as I get up and move it shots up to at least 200 whats up with that?
You run through material because it’s evident you are a doctor and you have knowledge of terminology your audience out there not so evident so my request is if you want to help the public slow down in you’re talking let the public absorb the material without having to review and preview I did find it one other PJ who is much slower David and very scientific easier 2 follow him because he’s slower understand some of the concepts in you lecture you run through them because you know the material
I purchased your plan yesterday and while I like the plan, I recommend the following: only use cup measurements, not grams. For example, how many eggs is 112 grams? You show 16 grams of peanut butter is a TBL, but then you list a serving on cheese as 14 grams. So I use part of a TBL? Do you see what I’m saying?
My husband and I are in keto. We found it hard at first, but it’s gets easier as you do trial and error. My family has a history of diabetes so I want to change my habits before I become diabetic. My last a1c was a 5.2. My fibromyalgia has also been better on this diet. Thanks for creating educational videos:)
Dr Boz,…I’m just finding you & what a blessing. Wow,…you are the first medical professional to ever explain “fasting” and the liver damage comparable to an alcoholic….at least the first I’ve seen. What an eye opener for me. I’ve done Keto 3 times before and quit every time due to chronic constipation. I’ve learned so much from you in just 2 days of watching your videos….the chia seeds, the salt, and so much information on insulin resistance. I’m one of those people who works out like a fiend walking miles a day and doing circuit and hiit training…but is still 40 pounds over weight. I had been doing the Mediterranean diet for 8 months and lost 9 pounds. Not a good result, considering that My doctor told me to loose 30 pounds ASAP…giving me a diagnosis of pre diabetes. She told me to go on the Mediterranean diet. I felt ashamed that I can’t lose the weight. So I have just avoided going back for my labs. Thank you for this tremendous knowledge and for inspiring us.
I’ve been trying to check my blood sugar in the morning as you have said and other people my blood sugar is about 94-96. How can I incorporate more fat in my diet without upsetting my stomach so that I can try to lower my sugars
With so much crap and annoying and boring fake American doctors on YouTube this is refreshing and clear and I feel I’m not being overwhelmed with rubbish I just don’t need.. and find I’m eager for the next video as I’m actually learning instead of getting confused with complicated conflicting info.

Lost 52lbs in 4 months on keto (50, male). Neighbors thought I had cancer LOL. Remarkably, I drank a six pack of beer every single day on keto and still the weight just melted off. The worst part of the whole keto experience, besides the initial irritability lasting a couple of weeks, was bouts of insomnia and light-headedness while doing physical work. I solved the dizziness/fainting feeling by immediately eating a pinch or two of quality sea salt literally eating a pinch of Maldon salt flakes washed down with a small amount of water. Avoid all cardio other than short walks. Zero fruit. Read labels to avoid sugar; for example, milk is LOADED with sugar and I had no idea after all these years. Once you’re in the zone you literally have no hunger and I found myself often eating one meal a day. You know you’re there when you push your plate away with food still left. Then you trip out watching fat people obsess about eating 3+ meals a day and giving their kids sugary snacks between meals etc.

I have a fatty liver and I am obese and my blood sugar seems to be around 100 no matter what. I am starting Keto/Low carb. No weight loss yet but I feel different. I expect I am working on emptying my liver. So how long till the fat in my liver is gone?
