  • I like to watch your videos through out the day. Repeat!! I have no life new or it’s been two years since becoming a stay at home wife.

  • List makers united and I also still use a paper planner because there is a sense of satisfaction in crossing or checking an item off the list….

  • Girl, you need the Starbucks app! I feel ya on the cravings.. I am literally dreaming of peanut butter. Bringing a jar with me and going ham on it post stage. That is literally the only thing I have been craving.

  • I’m 36 and have been SCOURING YouTube for channels that demonstrate competing (or a competition-worthy physique) is attainable. Defo subscribing to follow your more recent content ❤️

  • I’m just starting out on my journey this week and I found your journey incredibly inspiring. You’ve made me realize how fun this can be and it’s really what I want to do. Thank you!

  • I always looking forward for your video, you motivates me so much. I have failed on my diet and workout, but whenever I see your video I feel like eating clean again and work my butt off at the gym. thank you and Goodluck on your competition. I’m 100% sure you’re going to own it girl.

  • I have a question. So if you have a bad scar on your stomach that is like a keloid scar is there a way you can get a one piece swimsuit or is there no way to compete. I have always wanted to compete but my scar has held me back and also the only way to rid of it would be surgery.

  • I love this video and your determination!
I’m 47 and I started into this fitness world.
You are an inspiration and a very beautiful woman.
    Thank you

  • Girl…instagram is THE worst for prep!!! I avoid double tapping any food porn and try to focus more on the shredded ladies so that my search section is full of them. The guys sitting next to me on the bus are definitely not complaining! lol

  • Hey Kara! This is an odd question.. but I take digestive enzymes with almost every meal due to my coaches recommendation. The other day in my Bio class (I’m a molecular and cellular bio major), my professor said that having digestive enzymes aren’t need as a supplement because enzymes naturally break down energy (food) no matter what. I may have misunderstood his meaning.. but what is your take on it? Just curious. By the way, you’re looking so gorgeous! I can’t wait to see you with your pro card:)

  • Something my mom makes me do is leave $20. In my car for just in case of anything and it’s only for me and just in case I leave my wallet and it not in eye sight so I don’t use it unless I’m looking for it or something…

  • I totally hear you on the “lists”. I am a computer programmer, but a math geek and a list maker at heart. I love still using paper and pencil to make lists. I hate technology! Everyone says to make lists on my phone but I still prefer paper so I can cross things off of the list! You are going to KILL it at your competition. I think you should continue vlogging even after the competition is over.

  • loving the daily vlogs!!! so great to wake up to every morning! keep up the hard work. its so close to the end! (btw, thanks for being so open/honest with all of us!)

  • Your work ethic is top notch. So much goes into each one of your comps and its awesome seeing how dedicated you are to perfecting your routine.

  • Girl, no wallet you got prep brain, happens to me too!! Yes IG is torture when your cravings are intense. I am 9 days post show and 17 days out from my next show and I like clockwork, mid cycle my cravings are nuts and same about 2-5 days before period. It is horrible. I am good all day but the cravings after meal 3 and after my final meal are FOR REAL!!! I am a list person toototal type A!!! Thanks for the checklist, see if I am missing anything on my list ;0

  • Did you used to have a weight problem? I’m not sure what the deal is, you look amazing for sure 100!!
I’ve just always seen bodybuilders with massive vascularity muscles popping regardless of the category of huge and bulked out or just lean and ripped. I’m not sure what you’re doing there but, feeling good about yourself is amazing good for you.

  • Love the eyelashes, love the jewelry, love hearing Winston in the background (hope he gets better soon). Like others have said, I enjoy living vicariously through you, and you inspire me to do my workouts and stick to my diet.

  • I would love to get one of those shirts!!! I have been watching your videos for a while and I have finally subscribed! You are inspiring me to live more healthy. Your story is inspiring and I wish you nothing but the best!

  • So funny story: a couple days before my trip to Vegas, same weekend as your competition, I was in Ross looking for a swimsuit cover up. Almost bought that black skirt to wear with my suit. Oh and I was wearing the suit the Encore Beach club pool party that Saturday. Hahaha no naked men or large hats by me, thankfully. My group did have a couple pitchers of mojitos instead of bottles of vodka!

  • Hey Kara!
I’m in my first prep currently and I just wanted to say THANK YOU for being so real with your viewers. Your so inspiring! I love your daily vlogs.:)
    xoxo

  • I have a ton of weight to lose and I am no where near bikini ready, let alone bikini competition ready.. But watching this/these kinds of videos motivates me even harder at the gym and maybe one day I’ll feel confident enough to maybe try and compete. BTW, I want those sunglasses at 5:30 haha. But thank you for posting! I subbed, do more gym videos or these!

  • Omg that feeling of wanting Starbucks and forgetting the wallet:( they now have Apple Pay which is amazing life saver. Your daily videos are life!

  • I love your videos! Similar thing happened to me yesterday. I had the corporate CC to purchase items for the lab, but I wanted to make a sepearate purchase for myself so I could eat in class but my wallet was in my car.:(

But, my evening was made when my professors congratulated me on being matched to the internship program on campus. #rd2be.

  • ok,so i officially have a youtube girl crush on you!! I was tired today and got up and went to the gym and thought well if Kara can get her ass out of bed at ridiculous hours to get her workout in then so can i!!! I do night shift and one thing I’m trying to improve on is my sleep quality and i know that when i kill it at the gym it helps my sleep… loving the vlogs and am getting excited for you!! Go girl!!

  • I look forward to seeing your daily vlogs every morning!! I’m living vicarious through you (lol) It’s winding down so close lady!!!

  • Hi Paul, love your content and as a coach myself find it very supportive and educational when developing my own knowledge when working with my clients.
My question is what would you adjust first when clients hit a plateau with progress? would it be nutrition or energy output i.e. training/ cardio? If it is with nutrition what would you adjust first i.e. fats, carbs and by how much?

    Appreciate your time

  • Your dedication is amazing!!:D I’ll be doing my first show in 13 weeks but what really scares me is peak week as it seems to be really controversial:-s Would you recommend water/sodium depletion? I don’t really want to do that but I’ve seen that quite a few girls do it…. And when it comes to competition day, do you do your own makeup?:-s I’m quite worried that I won’t get the right foundation to look good with the tan:D Plus, not sure if letting them spray tan the face is ok or not haha. Sorry for being such a pain and having so many questions!:D

  • This is really motivating! You look freaking fantastic. I’m 32, about to be 33 and I am working towards doing my first bikini competition by 34. Only thing that worries me is maybe not being able to get rid of my tummy pooch since I gained like 50lbs my first pregnancy but I’ve already decided if that happens, I won’t beat myself up over it.

  • I was wondering if you have a video or could maybe make one that would touch on how to create a support system for yourself during prep and after for your mental health? I’ve heard it can be very very hard mentally and could potentially cause eds, so I’m wondering if there’s preventative measures to take.
(I do happen to have an ed history (5 years recovered), and am taking a lot of time to consider if I will do a comp. I’m trying to do as much research as possible first and hoping I can learn more about how people put a support system in place for their mental health because I havent found anything just yet.)

  • I love your vlogs your such a huge inspiration for someone such as myself who wants to compete I have overcome a lot with thyroid surgery almost five years ago and loosing weight and gaining muscle has been a tough one for me any different would you have any diet tips or workout tips I would love your opinion anyways keep posting love your videos

  • Very inspirational! It saddened me that u got down. So now u think u don’t look good? u look better than everyone else! Keep it up!

  • damn that hit me hardthe second contest prep is always harder because we know what to expect whereas the first time around we have no clue so we are more apt to stick to the plan! this was a great video girl, understanding our WHY is huge because this sport is getting really trendy. Post show is also a crucial time that needs to be planned for! I didn’t plan mine and i rebounded hard and its taken me over a year to get my health back. if anything, competing can and almost will exacerbate an eating disorder, I know it flared up my binge eating disorder.

  • I want to thank you so much for this well informed info regarding competition preps Kara. You have always inspired me and every video

  • Daraja must be soooo excited! In looking at the 2020 Arnold Roster it looks like she’s going to be up there with the absolute best (OMG is Justine back or is this just who’s been invited?!?!?)! But anyway, I’m soooo happy for Daraja and it’s awesome that you are so supportive! Be well!

  • This was a boss YouTube video love the competition information one of my goals in my life is to compete in a fitness competition been working out for ten years now I sure learned something form this video

  • Off topic but…I’m planning my 11th anniversary boho style wedding shoot and would love to wear my hair like yours. We seem to have similar cut and length. Could you comment what you used or make a tutorial, please?
Also, you look amazing, both competing and post competition. I don’t compete or have the same diet (per different instructions from my doctor) but I love your channel!

  • I vote you move to Vancovuer! We only get snow on the mountains 😉 plus it’s supposed to be about 75 here this weekend. Just sayin’. Also, I feel you on the monday gym vibes waaay too busy! You’re looking amazing get that pro card girl! <3

  • Post show was an emotional roller coaster for me, so that’s a huge aspect to this. Even if you’ve got solid self esteem it WILL take a toll on you.

  • Hey Paul just sent you an instagram message. I’m trying to get some info on your coaching, if you could hit me back really quick brotha that’d be great. Good vid by the way ma man!

  • Love the video, Kara. Thanks for taking the time to put it together and share it with us. I first came across your channel because of your bikini competition videos. I continued to follow you because of your kind, gentle way about you. Also you provide great informative content. Thanks so much!

  • I want to do men’s physique next year I just did a physique update on my channel just staying lean for the summer could you please rate me

  • Awesome video kara might try and compete now might being the key word girl your videos are wonderful and enjoyable to watch honestly .

  • This is an awesome detailed breakdown. I’d add that competitive dance wear stores have really cheap blingy jewelry too! Even cheaper than boutiques

  • Thanks for the video!! I’ve been working with a coach in the hopes of competing next spring. The plan is to build until wintertime then start prep around the holidays or so.

  • Yay! SO cool you made this video. I’ve gone back and forth over the past couple of years about competing, but so cool to get your thoughts, advice, etc.

  • Hola. Nena. Hermosa. Me. Gusta. Lo. K. Tu. Usas. Todas. Tus. Bikinis. Y. Tus. Tangas. Usamos. La. Misma. Marca. Y. La. Misma. Talla. M

  • Wow, I had no idea those suits are so expensive. I see a lot of competitors getting a new one each time will you be reusing this?

  • Aw the story about your subscriber was so sweet! I’m glad today ended up being awesome. Interesting about your period because I didn’t have mine for 3 years, even when reverse dieting. I start prep and BAM it comes back. Sigh. I’m actually stopping BC to see if I can get my shit together. Wondering if it was the steady 6 meals a day that convinced my body it was time to start working again.

  • I came across your video when I did a search for bikini comp prep. Yours was the first one to pop up. I am prepping for my first ever bikini and figure comp in aug. I am about 10 weeks out just like you. I will be 33 when it comes up. This video is so motivating!!! How many hours a day did you workout and how many times a day? Did you do whole body workouts or did you do target areas? Tysm for sharing your story!!

  • Hey Nikki:-) great video. Can you make one on what are your food selections for The 12 weeks before competing? And also which supplements helped you the most to burn extra body fat?

  • Do you have to apply some type of tanning cream to even out the colour of your skin if you are black?
Thanks for the advice in this video Nikki.

  • I love your videos Kara, you are so honest and genuine and I’ve really enjoyed this bikini prep series, can’t wait to see how you get on on show day. Much love from the uk xx

  • Your so awesome Nikki! Each video you re-prove how genuine you are and its sooo nice to see, especially in such a competitive sport.:D

  • Not to mention the costs of getting to the show. Gas or flight, hotel for at least a day or two. That is another $300 and if you fly probably another $500. I think anyone thinking about competing men or women should watch this, because i’m sure the men are comparable. Too expensive not to devote every once of energy.

  • im 27 and showing grey hairs…. i’m also not losing weight as easily as i did before. I’m scared for 30…. i’ve just started a prep with no intentions to compete. i just wanna make this a lifestyle before its too late

  • jeez.. 780$ not including the 12-20 week meal preps… just for a 5 dollar trophy… is it really that srs? Idk.. As long as you’re happy and keeping us entertained with videos:) good luck oct 18 Nikki!

  • Did you find that opting for organic and grassfed meats and veggies greatly helped with the prep journey as opposed to conventionally grown foods? If so, what do you think caused that and whats teh science behind it? Id like to hear your thoughts:)

  • Hey Nikki, I understand the expenses are totally worth it if it’s your passion, but since the gym is taking most of your time, how do competitors make a living? Do they all vlog & sell t-shirts?:p

  • Loved this, very motivational. I’m a bit older than you were here by quite a lot lol. I think I use the rationalization that since I’ve never been able to achieve my body at it’s best, I don’t know if I can actually get it there. I want to. Please tell me where you got those beautiful big black sunglasses! I love them! And that guy behind you when you were lifting at 14:35?? Also do you find the stairs to be the best fasted cardio? Do you do stairs the most in the week? How did you get all 5 meals in? And last, I really want to know how many hours of sleep did you average? Thank you!!!:)

  • you forgot to tell people to hire your hair stylist!!! lol. Cannot wait! love you girl. eeeeeeeeeek! every step of the way! you are killin it.

  • Absolutely agree with you:) and I have been comparing myself to the others who did the same show before the competition!!! That was crazy!

  • If I wanted to get judged in a bikini and spend that amount, I’d buy a plane ticket to California and walk on the beach in a $30 target suit:P Good luck though! You’re gonna kick ass!

  • I know you use the coconut cooking spray a lot but I am allergic to coconut & was wondering if you had any other healthy suggestions?

  • I’d love to hear your take on posing styles, advice, what to do, what to avoid…. stage presence & stage personality tips. Thank you!!
