Tips for a Former Fat Girl That Wants to Compete in Bikini and Figure So, you went from fat to thin and have decided to compete in a bodybuilding contest. I have a few tips for you future competitors that have shed weight, and now want to get shredded on stage. Normally I stay around 140 pounds and 18 to 20 percent body fat. For this competition, I lost a few pounds but the real difference was my body fat percentage which dropped to 13 percent.

No rest between exercises but 90-180s rest between sets does that pertain to the Finisher or the entire workout?I can say (only from my own experience) that fasted cardio in the morning works better at burning fat than just adding extra sessions of cardio after a weight routine for example. For my first bikini comp my coach had me doing between 3 and 5 days of fasted cardio, starting at 30 min and ending with 45 min at the end of my prep. Here’s everything you need to know about bikini competition training—what the show is like, how people train, whether it’s safe for you, and what real bikini competitors have to say about them. “You’ll want to lightly exfoliate your entire body as often as you can,” she notes.

Using exfoliating gloves and/or a body scrub can help get your skin smooth so it takes the tanning product evenly. Oddo suggests using a combination of body weight and body fat to create a starting point. If you have to lose 12 pounds in 12 weeks for example, then create a calorie structure based on that. Most people fit into a 12-to-14 week period for contest preparation, as long as they are within 15-20 pounds of their desired weight goal. If you found that you think your body needs a bit of a shape up before it’s bikini ready, then make a start on an exercise program and begin watching your diet to create the changes you want.

Even just 10 minutes of exercise a day will help you firm up to a sexier shape. Why not try some of our challengesas a. Although I was not as lean as I would have liked to be, I was lean enough that I felt I would not be laughed off the stage. The day of the show I weighed in at 124 pounds and 13.5% body fat. I was in the best shape of my life and I was about to see how I compared with the other girls.

A BMI of 18-18.9 can be fine for some girls will be too skinny for many though. A BMI of 19-20.2 is the MOST ideal BMI for a fully prepped bikini competitor. A BMI of 20.3-21 can be fine for girls who carry their muscle well especially if a lot is in the booty.

Its going to be too heavy for a lot of girls.

  • I can suck my suck my stomach in except there is still fat.

    I’m actually very curvy all around.

    My waist goes inward like 2 inches and then my waist and thighs go out around 2 inches.

    But from the side view.
    My stomach goes out like 5 inches and if I suck it in it still is like 1 inch out.

    That’s why if I wear a bikini I make sure it comes with a skirt.

    I’ll bring the skirt up to my waist where it goes in 2 inches so you can tell how bad my stomach is.

    I also just buy tankinis.

    A two peice bathing suit that covers most of your stomach but doesn’t reveal as much as a bikini.

    I got a new tankini that I really love.

    Its basically a bikini but there’s think fabric that has a galaxy pattern and flows gently over my stomach. It doesn’t really show my whole stomach at all.

    It’s basically a bikini but I can feel confident about it.

  • Hey, so with calories, did you start off with your calories at your recommended “maintain size” calories, or did you lower them to be dropping fat?
    I just run off the internet calculators and they have a few calculations such as the Maintain number, loose 0.5 per week, loose 1kg per week and then the opposite end which is to gain weight.

  • I am 5’10 and was a size 24, now I’m a 16. (Trying to get to a 10) of course weight loss is not just about how you look it is for health reasons. However this saggy skin in my lower belly and upper inner thighs (the rest of my body is toned and semi-taut), might be making me think that fluffier is better. That’s the problem with bikinis is the skin on my thighs, (at least the bathing suit bottoms cover the lower belly) however now that I’m in my 30s I just don’t care what people think as much. I am also not going to force myself to go to the beach and be confident, if I don’t feel or want to be and I no longer think of it as missing out. It’s what makes me and my loved ones happy and healthy is what I focus on doing not what people say I should be doing. Well that got off topic sorry

  • Taking care of yourself mind, body, and soul is great. I am attracted to athletic women. But I feel women that turn thenselves into dudes suffer from body Dsimorfia in some way. I think that men who like women to have dude’s bodies and are as hard as a dude have homosexuality tendencies.

Its different for everyone. Take care of your self, clean up your diet a little bit and exercise, yoga. Don’t be a physco, let a man be a man, and make him a sandwich from time to time. You will be amazed how in love with you he will be. Just be a cool chick that’s down for her man. Ride or die.

  • I have a question regarding switching coaches. I’m used to seeing coaches get offended and take it personally when a client decides to see a different coach instead. Makes it a little harder to break the news or even consult with another coach. Are you familiar with those types of situations? That’s what it’s like on Guam but I’m curious to know if it’s similar to the states since I sometimes see stateside athletes change their coaches often.

  • In all the transformation stories there is at least one point missing; the girls/women never admit to having had breast augmentation after the weight loss why?

    Just take a look at the 0:55 photo and you will see two plastic oranges stuck on JJ’s chest. If you lose fat, you lose it from every part of the body; don’t be afraid of the truth, girls 😉

  • I’m bulking now it’s hard though my stomach looks bulged even though work on my abs. Eat healthy don’t have junk days. Work out 5x a week. Eat every 3-4 hours smaller meals to keep from getting the shakes cause my metabolism is so high right now. Do you worry so much about abs what look like during bulk? Or that will fix on own when cutting?

  • In Indonesia, people don’t say curvy. They say FAT to all who isn’t skinny. It makes me insecureand hates myself. Try diet not eating carbohydrates for one month then when i came back to my true self i ate nonstop. I became more insecure because people’s comment and seeing all my friends skinny and beautiful using any clothes.

  • Thank you for your story! Very encouraging for where I am right now! I lost my boyfriend suddenly a little over a year ago. We planned all our meals together once a week for 4 years and worked out together often. It became our thing we did together. But after he passed away, I didn’t want to do any of it anymore because it reminded me of him. I cancelled my gym membership and started eating all the things I never ate before. I knew I would shake back after I healed emotionally but then I just got more and more depressed and started experiencing subtle health issues that scared me. So, the first of this year, I made a decision to rejoin the gym and start meal planning again. I have a long way to go before I see the outward changes but I have never felt better mentally and emotionally. I was a walking dead woman for a minute. And your story just inspired me to keep pushing. I’ll see the outward results in time.

  • You didn’t mention any fruit, fruit no matter how much sugar doesnt make you fat, as the body knows how to process fruit glucose within 4 to 6 mins. Fruit always heals every tissue in the body and the organs need it to survive. Too much meat is hard on the liver.

    So really if no one else besides my family were going to see me, I would probably be fine in a bikini. It’s just the constant fear of knowing that some super tall and skinny girl is going to judge me. I know I shouldn’t care about what other people think about me, but it’s hard. What makes it even worse is when my friends clearly are smaller and Skinner than me call themselves fat. It’s so frustrating to me because of the obvious size difference. It’s like well if she’s fat them should I even put a bathing suit on? I just wish that I could finally get rid of my stomach fat and be able to feel good about myself. I see all of these “perfect” girls in my grade running around in what I want my body to look like and I just find the need to look like them.   • Thank you for your story! Very encouraging for where I am right now! I lost my boyfriend suddenly a little over a year ago. We planned all our meals together once a week for 4 years and worked out together often. It became our thing we did together. But after he passed away, I didn’t want to do any of it anymore because it reminded me of him. I cancelled my gym membership and started eating all the things I never ate before. I knew I would shake back after I healed emotionally but then I just got more and more depressed and started experiencing subtle health issues that scared me. So, the first of this year, I made a decision to rejoin the gym and start meal planning again. I have a long way to go before I see the outward changes but I have never felt better mentally and emotionally. I was a walking dead woman for a minute. And your story just inspired me to keep pushing. I’ll see the outward results in time.

  • I’m bulking now it’s hard though my stomach looks bulged even though work on my abs. Eat healthy don’t have junk days. Work out 5x a week. Eat every 3-4 hours smaller meals to keep from getting the shakes cause my metabolism is so high right now. Do you worry so much about abs what look like during bulk? Or that will fix on own when cutting?

  • I don’t compete but I rewatch this when I’m struggling with my macro deficits. It’s a super isolating and difficult experience some days.

  • Okay I’m gonna rant

    So really if no one else besides my family were going to see me, I would probably be fine in a bikini. It’s just the constant fear of knowing that some super tall and skinny girl is going to judge me. I know I shouldn’t care about what other people think about me, but it’s hard. What makes it even worse is when my friends clearly are smaller and Skinner than me call themselves fat. It’s so frustrating to me because of the obvious size difference. It’s like well if she’s fat them should I even put a bathing suit on? I just wish that I could finally get rid of my stomach fat and be able to feel good about myself. What’s even worse is that I feel like I have to change myself. I see all of these “perfect” girls in my grade running around in what I want my body to look like and I just find the need to look like them. Most of my friends don’t look like me and so whenever I try to tell them I don’t like the way they look they just say shut up you look fine. LIKE DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT TELLING ME TO SHUT UP WILL GET RID OF MY INSECURITIES. NO! I just wish that I didn’t give a crap and could walk out in a bikini and love myself.

  • You didn’t mention any fruit, fruit no matter how much sugar doesnt make you fat, as the body knows how to process fruit glucose within 4 to 6 mins. Fruit always heals every tissue in the body and the organs need it to survive. Too much meat is hard on the liver.

  • Ok that’s a relief 3-5 years. Been going to the gym a little over a year & a half & my progress has been slow. I changed up my workout, & that has helped, but it takes pressure off to be transformed overnight.

  • I am 5’10 and was a size 24, now I’m a 16. (Trying to get to a 10) of course weight loss is not just about how you look it is for health reasons. However this saggy skin in my lower belly and upper inner thighs (the rest of my body is toned and semi-taut), might be making me think that fluffier is better. That’s the problem with bikinis is the skin on my thighs, (at least the bathing suit bottoms cover the lower belly) however now that I’m in my 30s I just don’t care what people think as much. I am also not going to force myself to go to the beach and be confident, if I don’t feel or want to be and I no longer think of it as missing out. It’s what makes me and my loved ones happy and healthy is what I focus on doing not what people say I should be doing. Well that got off topic sorry

  • with your makeup its not bad at all, but in looking its that your really pretty eye color clashes with the orange-red lip stick, and yes im keeping in mind that the lighting changes the actual color of things. and again it really is beautiful its just those 2 colors are being frenemies with each other hahahaha

  • I can suck my suck my stomach in except there is still fat.

    I’m actually very curvy all around.

    My waist goes inward like 2 inches and then my waist and thighs go out around 2 inches.

    But from the side view.
    My stomach goes out like 5 inches and if I suck it in it still is like 1 inch out.

    That’s why if I wear a bikini I make sure it comes with a skirt.

    I’ll bring the skirt up to my waist where it goes in 2 inches so you can tell how bad my stomach is.

    I also just buy tankinis.

    A two peice bathing suit that covers most of your stomach but doesn’t reveal as much as a bikini.

    I got a new tankini that I really love.

    Its basically a bikini but there’s think fabric that has a galaxy pattern and flows gently over my stomach. It doesn’t really show my whole stomach at all.

    It’s basically a bikini but I can feel confident about it.

  • Dietician question: How do you know what rate of fat loss is too much that risks eating into muscle during a cut. A 350lbs person can lose 4 or 5 lbs a week and be fine, but what’s the difference for someone who is already lean?

  • In Indonesia, people don’t say curvy. They say FAT to all who isn’t skinny. It makes me insecureand hates myself. Try diet not eating carbohydrates for one month then when i came back to my true self i ate nonstop. I became more insecure because people’s comment and seeing all my friends skinny and beautiful using any clothes.

  • Taking care of yourself mind, body, and soul is great. I am attracted to athletic women. But I feel women that turn thenselves into dudes suffer from body Dsimorfia in some way. I think that men who like women to have dude’s bodies and are as hard as a dude have homosexuality tendencies.
    I don’t want a hard six pack rubbing up against my hard six pack. Gross. Imo.

    And to all the ladies on this thread men find beauty and attraction to women of all shapes and sizes. Big girls, medium girls, short girls, girls next door girls, nerdy girls…etc.
    I am an admirer of a voluptuous woman. It’s all how you carry yourself. Sexy goes deeper then looks. I have a buddy who is a gym beast. Super huge like Arnold. But he only is attracted to bbw’s. Its different for everyone. Take care of your self, clean up your diet a little bit and exercise, yoga. Don’t be a physco, let a man be a man, and make him a sandwich from time to time. You will be amazed how in love with you he will be. Just be a cool chick that’s down for her man. Ride or die.
    And yes it goes both ways. Men have to treat a good woman right as well.
