Also, I’ve seen that it takes more than just great care with carbohydrate to achieve deep ketosis; in fact, you need more fat and less protein than many believe.

  • I don’t get why the Slow-Carb diet tells you to cut out cheese. Cheese contains virtually no carbs. It’s all protein and fat. And it doesn’t spike your insulin much.

Some people may have trouble with dairy, but that’s a whole other issue.

  • Wow. Just wow. Keto is not restrictive at all. You just cut out crap food. High carb food. Mother nature gave us foods that we eat as you say but none of the vegetables you think of today did exist 10 thousand years ago. All of them are higher carb then they were ever before due to human interference. Crops that we have now are much higher carb. Poisonous oils made from seeds that we never used. And Atkins diet is a keto diet.

  • RELAX, I do both, now doing Omad keto for a month, then two to three weeks Paleo. Then do it again.
Lost 70 pounds. No inflammation, pain, or headaches.

  • How can you be an expert and not know the difference between Ketosis and Ketoacidosis? Also, how can you be an “expert” and forget to mention that the primary utilization for ketogenesis is energy production, not excretion? Quit your jobs. I mean it.

  • Wow. These three ladies are so far behind on the this keto diet. There is tons of research out the now. Lots of data. Look up Dr Ken Berry. DrJason Fung, Dr Stephen Phinny. Dr Eric Westman. I was at the mayo clinic two years ago and they were pushing this American standard diet on me. They had me go watch a video and I couldn’t believe all the bad information they’re pushing. They need to get up to speed especially their nutritionist and these women doctors on the left. Do your research people these people that are speaking now are giving you false information. I went on the keto diet and my health improved 100%. My numbers were stellar and my husbands were too. Cleveland Clinic is on board with Keto. Don’t listen to these uninformed people. Sugar is poison and it’s hidden in everything. Read your labels. Process oils are too

  • In 2019, I went on a low carb regiment, inspired by videos from What I’ve Learned. I was pounding down the eggs, the cheese, and all the fatty cuts of meat, you name it, and I was on it. I don’t think adopting a low carb style of eating did me much good. I may have even suffered slightly. I’m pretty sure I net gained a few pounds of belly fat over the year, although my weight has never been an issue. I think my cognition was negatively impacted also, if only slightly.

I got inspired to try a plant based diet out strictly for environmental reasons in 2020, expecting to feel like garbage, constantly be hungry, have less energy, and things like that. I can say that I absolutely do not miss the low carb way of eating whatsoever, and I am fully content adopting my whole food, plant based, high carb, low fat (circa 65C/20F/15P) diet. I feel better in every way, and I can feel slightly sick after eating a lot of peanut butter, coconut oil, or too much of any fat in general.

I’m not looking back, and I will stick to this way of eating for life. It’s not only better for the environment, but it’s better for health, and that’s what the real science says. I just wish I knew about all this earlier! I actually have MORE energy, LESS hunger, and I genuinely don’t miss any of the junk I used to eat, because plant foods are delicious when you eat them all the time!

  • I am working every day and for the last 6 years I could not get rid off my body fat especially stomach. I am athletic but this fat just does not go away that easily. I tried very low carb diet or whatever when you eat so less and starve and I lost 10kg. It is great but it was suffering. No energy. Was feeling I am gonna collapse. So tired of it. I want hunger to stop nailing my brain. I will give ketoses a try. I want a ripped body, but if there is a way to stop starving then I am in it.

  • I’m on a combination of Paleolithic and Mediterranean diets. I find it impossible to cut out all carbs! Yes, I’ve cut out almost all sugar (except at parties), but the rest of the carbs are difficult to cut.

  • Thomas, thank you for your cool video. I have a question: do you use any artificial supplements to build up muscle mass? Such as steroids or pills?

  • Keto helped to slim down 6kg from 53 to 47. Then, 19 hours daily fasting really helped me to shed the stubborn tum fat of 1kg. Every morning, I took keto matcha and 5 mct pills until noon. All eating thing between noon-5pm. Btw, so much enjoyed your book, the Tools of Titans.

  • Complex carbs, i.e. slow carbs, are very important. Fiber and a low glycemic index are key to maintaining ketosis. I have appx 100g total complex carbs daily and maintain ketosis. Fiber is the main key.

  • You always see “keto eyes” on people following keto and carnivore diets. Discolouration or bags around eyes. This is due to load on kidneys (protein) and liver (fat) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Al6giDfoGIA

  • very hard to believe anyone who has not tried the diet themselves. worthless information. they even admit people on the keto diet are loosing a LOT of weight. would they be happier if those people gained it all back? would that somehow be more healthy?

  • Wow! I’ll bet she also still believes in the food pyramid. There is so much research out there supporting a ketogenic diet, this lady needs to upskill. Keto works, not only for weightloss but general wellness. I’m on it and feel better than I have for years.

  • There in nothing wrong with Ketosis, but long term trying to stay in ketosis is not healthy, cause chronic disease. Cycling in and out of Ketosis, is they way to go. And great for health. make sure you add in resistant starches and prebiotic fibers, or you risk developing colon cancer, diverticulitis.
    Drawbacks of Long-Term Ketosis
In my book I also discuss the “dark side” of nutritional ketosis, and why it may be inadvisable to stay in unbroken ketosis long-term. Long-term ketosis means you’re doing significant and chronic calorie restriction, and the problem with that, especially for women, is that it can cause thyroid impairment. In some cases, you can develop a resistance to your thyroid hormones.
Essentially, it appears your body was not designed for long-term calorie restriction but rather intermittent or cyclical calorie restriction. A significant part of this is because continuous calorie restriction fails to activate and optimize your rejuvenation processes. Fasting primes your body for improvement, and it does this by removing the damaged parts through autophagy.
The rejuvenation, however, occurs during refeeding. That’s when your body can rebuild and restore cells and tissues. It’s largely the stem cell activation and giving yourself the nutrients and the metabolic activation through strength training that causes this repair, regeneration and anabolic growth.      https://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2019/04/24/ketofasting.aspx

  • “Body Opus” is the original Ketogenic diet (Bodybuilding Science Tested & researched ) with 2 days of RECOMPOSITION.
Even daily Allowance OF carbs on Keto should be pushed into evenings for the Essential Neurotransmitters release & transport to the CNS.
Like Serotonin, Melatonin for sleep but there are many more like next very important one DOPAMINE imbalance is the problem not just Serotonin.
Prolonged Keto can create imbalance or deficiency of Neurotransmitters.
Literally it is depression inducing diet.
It must be done with glucose/ketone meter in hand.
Scientific research data is not following since “Body Opus” by keto fanatics.

  • the strange thing about this diet is it has become a religion and sacred to many, you can’t even question it this is while no long time study has been done on this diet and its effect:) all we have is people online claiming to be doing this for a very long time
    any studies? no

  • I don’t know how people can be so happy with keto i tried with for more than month and last 2 kilo, But it ruined my whole digestive system, i was for sure enjoying eating cream, cheese, butter and all yummy food but I definitely missed having orange, lemon, watermelon.
I lost more than 10 kilo just with reducing carb and sugar over a one year. i think people want fast result in the short time, if they can jeep it for rest of their life it’s good for them but i lover fruits and won’t give them up for a diet that I won’t keep for ever.

  • Tim, the Keto diet/lifestyle is not nearly as complex and exacting as you make out. However it’s true that there are some basic principles to get right. A great source for clear, good information on keto is Dr Eric Westman. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_bdziQZS98

  • It’s disrespectful to the people that are doing KETO and have seen changes and results and have change their life and loss the weight that they’ve tried with so many different plans to have that lady with the green shirt just laugh and make expressions that just implies that KETO is stupid and dangerous.

  • So I guess Dr. Mark Hyman at the Cleveland Clinic is a quack? lol Look at the science and not opinion OMG There is long term data, I know of Doctors who have done this for 10 years and uses Keto in their Clinics because it reverses Metabolic Syndrome and I think we all need to do that considering the obvious pandemic going on! Very disappointed in this presentation, no research obviously just typical negativity. Ketones are not toxic and Ketones are a cleaner fuel than glucose, glucose is dirty compared to Ketones. The key driver to the Keto Diet or lifestyle is that it stabilizes high insulin levels and tames inflammation in the body it is not all about weight loss.

  • I really like the keto diet, it’s not about only losing weight. They are so much other health benefits. I feel so energetic on the keto diet. I’m moving around and not getting tired

  • The bodybuilders of the 50 60s and 70s they would do a high protein fat very low carb diet and they were phenomenally healthy and a lot of them are still alive into their 80s and 90s healthy to…. I wonder if someone couldn’t reach out to some of them and do research on there body and their history what they’ve done since if they’ve left the diet Etc stayed on it I know some that are in their late 70s who continue to heat that way in their extremely healthy

  • I have done both. Slow carb is basically short-term keto every week. It all depends on what works for you. Just think MEATS and GREENS… no bread, rice, or beer. You’re tolerance also lowers ALOT so you need less booze than you normally would so you save money as well. 😉

  • I’m diabetic so I think I used both paleo and keto for health purposes. I have eliminated dairy, sugar, honey, pasta, bread even whole wheat bread, potatoes, white rice, etc. but still do my own keto almond flour bread for my sandwiches. Love to eat healthy fats (fish, avocado..)with lots of salad, and do intermittent fasting. I weigh 128 lbs, and was recently diagnosed with diabetes type 2. so I try to look for good and tasty alternatives. I have lost 8 lbs in two over two weeks, my glucose level lowered and I feel great. I enjoyed your video!

  • I don’t cut out vegetable foods, just the unhealthy ones. No roots, no fruits, no grains and no sugar or sugar alcohol. As a type 1 diabetic, this diet changed my life. I have control now. Real control, not the crap shoot ada doctors prescribe. Also, there are doctors who have lived this life for DECADES, suck as Dr Richard Bernstein, and are healthier than a lot of their younger counterparts. If it comes down to a bet, I’m being in the man that taught me how to take care of myself.

  • It sounds like you had the shittiest possible diet that was technically paleo. Paleo should look like a plant based diet plus eggs and lean meat and dairy if you haaaave to.

  • I don’t know how people can be so happy with keto i tried with for more than month and last 2 kilo, But it ruined my whole digestive system, i was for sure enjoying eating cream, cheese, butter and all yummy food but I definitely missed having orange, lemon, watermelon.

  • Can’t believe that pink blonde representing Mayo Clinic!!
Of the other two i am not surprised. Plaine phd crab..its time to widen your horizons Misses!!!!!!!!

  • Take all the unprocessed food out and eat clean, eliminate sugar, eat moderate meat fish (omega 3), lots of vegetables (super low carbs), and good fats, fruits from time to time. if this way of eating is called keto. then, sign me in. There is the right way to do keto and the wrong way (cheese, bacon, and eggs 24/7) she is talking about “dirty keto”. I eat lots ( 8-9 cups) of vegetables a day, grass-fed, cage-free meat and lots of healthy fATS (olive oil, avocado oil, nuts) do not try to tell me, I am eating unhealthy, she wants us to eat heavily-processed food like bread and pasta? no, thank you. I will stick with keto.

  • If you doubt that the keto diet works, check out my transformation by searching YT using the phrase ” Low Carb Keto Diet Saved My Life rixcandoit ” and you can see before and after pictures of what happened to me in 12 weeks. It literally saved my life. Seriously, you all can do this.

  • I guess if keto really makes me feel and look better, I should probably take it upon myself to have basic blood tests at least once a year. Cause even skinny people can have dangerously occluded arteries.

  • mayo clinic is a load of crap… high fat low carb is the healthiest way of eating and its totoally sustainable, you train your body to become fat adapted and live off fat, its cutting out sugar which is the root to all illnesses including candidia and cancer, its not just about losing weight there are many health benefits. you guys get paid to lie from the pharma industry, just like that dr who says from mayo clinic coconut oil is bad for you. lies lies lies…

  • The Keto diet and Intermittent Fasting has changed my life, I have lost 27lbs. in 30 days. The best part for me is that my back pain is gone, I was just told 3 months ago that I needed surgery on my lower back. Guess what Not happening!!!

  • While it’s true your brain needs glucose, it does NOT need to get them from carbs. Your liver can breakdown fats & proteins into glucose, so there is absolutely no need to eat carbs. I’ve been on the Keto diet for a week & the benefits were profound. Firstly, I noticed my weight dropping quite rapidly. Secondly, my energy levels were much better throughout the day which felt amazing as normally on a “high carb” diet I would be tired all day. Finally, and probably the best was motivation. I felt motivated to do things, whereas normally I wouldn’t it was great. Of course, there are more benefits but these are the main ones I experienced. One of the downsides to the Keto diet is maintaining it, at least for me, I will be starting again tomorrow though.

  • Me too. I was on low carb for over 12years. Now I’m going plant based started 3wks ago. Lots of farting to beginning with, my tummy doesn’t know how to digest so much veg, carbs and beans properly.
But now…better digestion, less wind! Lol
I hope this way of eating will work the magic for my body too..slowly but surely.

  • After two years on a Keto diet, I can honestly say that it has worked wonderfully for me. As a type 2 diabetic, I went from high metformin doses to insulin and all the other meds “needed”, pills for cholesterol, pills for high blood pressure, and the obvious loose weight and exercise more recommendations. Within three months I was not ‘needing” any of those prescriptions. I lost 43 pounds in a month and a half, never experience cravings of any type, and it is a diet so easy to sustain that I can’t believe it happened to me. especially because I tried the Atkins diet and the Mayo clinic diet before, my dietician recommended them, only to allow diabetes to continue to ravage my body. Something is definitely wrong with this “expert”. Sugar is not our friend. Carbs = Sugar. And Yes, much-needed carbs are present in The Keto diet, albeit in a more healthy, and sustainable form.

  • He is wrong when he says sugar is not a problem but at certain extent, he doesn’t speak of one single mental health reversed by a plant-based diet, he says he has a mision in life to change the world…he is a fanatic

  • The more titles a person has, Md. Director of such and such, the less credit I give them. I believe in case studies, of course not his.

  • In 3 months the Keto diet helped me: Lose 52lb, cleared my brain fog, cured my depression and extreme sugar addiction, increased my sex lust, gained lean muscle mass without exercising (no idea why), stabilized my blood sugar, removed all joint aches in the morning, changed my relationship with food and a massive boost of energy even when I haven’t eaten for a while. I am satiated for a long time after eating, also my bowel movements are more consistent and I’m not constipated any longer.

I should add that I am kind of doing an almost carnivore diet, I don’t eat plant oils and fruit because I don’t feel optimal when consuming them. I eat maybe 5-10g of carbs per day on average. I don’t consume much diary but when I do it’s only unpasteurized. I drink unpasteurized milk once every few weeks because my stomach and digestive system loves it (I guess it’s because of the bacteria but I’m no nutritionist so idk lol), I just eat whatever makes me feel optimal. Ate a lot of broccoli and green leaves, olive oil etc first month but cut that out last 2 months and I felt even better. Also I eat organ meats every other week like veal heart, liver etc I’m currently trying to find more good fresh sources for organ meats because they don’t last as long in the fridge as meats. Also I’m a typical Swede so I eat fatty fish every morning which gives me a nice boost lol.

I guess I’m every dietitians worst nightmare but I feel so amazing and strong every day now with crystal clear mind. Will probably never go back to carbs, haven’t had any cheat days/meals yet because I no longer crave sugar and low nutrient dense food.

  • A big problem with people that aren’t
“plant based” eating is that they rely mostly on meat, eggs, bread, cheese& pasta to get their daily.
” nutrition” & to get satiated.most people can’t self regulate.so when they get bad health conditions they need strict guidelines to follow.as opposed to eating mostly plant based & some animal products occasionally or not at all.so once going wholly plant based they are forced to eat these whole natural foods in order to meet their needs.so the result is inevitably much better health.

  • Guys, careful. The food sources (such as avocado) or quantities (“as much protein as you want”) are NOT paleo-ketogenic. Those fit into a loose carnivore diet, tops. PKD® (the paleo-ketogenic diet), incorrectly and misleadingly used in this title (even if not with bad intentions), is not the same. PKD is a clinically developed, strict subdivision under the umbrella of carnivore. Vegetables arenot allowed, bec. it leads to leaky gut, being the source of all autoimmune, cancer etc diseases, which wasn’t even mentioned by the doctor. Over 10 years of extensive, independent research and empirical data through experience by treating thousands of patients (over 4000 now) support that this diet works. Countless patients have been healed here till this day, but avoiding toxic foods and overeating is critical. In my case, as well, as I have an autoimmune disease among others (low thyroid, IR, PCOS, allergies). You don’t have to believe me, I’m a layman, too, but even as the doctor said, it justifies to have a look into it (below clinic is the only one currently in the world treating patients this way; they are the ICMNI = International Clinic of Medical Nutritional Intervention). They are independent with no financial support of industrial facilities (a.k.a. food or pharmacy companies): https://www.paleomedicina.com/en/paleomedicina_hungary_%20therapeutic_protocol

  • I see people getting better health eating plant base diet, and a keto diet. Doctors on both sides, could it be both stop eating processed foods, and sugar, and hydrogenated seed oils? Positive results on both sides.

  • I am involved helping the sick for the past 15 years as a community service. Here s the data i collected which is very confusing on those ppl who were plant based food. One dr on plant food had multiple strokes. Another dr on plant based food was starting to lose his memory. And another women frm Singapore had many type of health issues until she changed to her diet to include meat. Frm my tracking, it takes abt 10 years to see if their plant diet gives them problem. Perhaps their plant based diet was wrong, wld very appreciate if any plant based dr show their food logs n how they stay healthy for > 10 years. This will help many ppl

  • Should do a Raw Dairy vs Pasteurized dairy video… Pasteurizing kills the necessary enzymes to digest dairy… Most people that are lactose intolerant actually do well on raw Dairy… But I don’t think there’s any studies on that subject…

  • The part you said that scares the shit out of me is that if I screw up on the Keto diet my blood lipid profile will be way outta wack! Yikes can you go further into details on that topic? Every once in a while I will get bored with ketosis after a week or 2 and will make a big plate of pasta with roughly 175 carbs and wonder how bad that really is when I have already had a bulletproof coffee earlier that day? So my question is what happens in a high saturated fat day with protein and high carbs?

  • This is all Pros get started which is all bad for you on keto and I was on a sickly vegetable diet in my insulin Spike crazy vegetables are deadly because of the sugars in vegetables I am on keto and I eat free vegetables everyday broccoli kale and asparagus and I’m super super healthy no pork and no high fat fat I said food whatsoever and bread no grain this guy

  • There’s a chapter in the new book “Mastering Diabetes” that really goes into the science of keto vs plant based. Best book I’ve read on the debate and I’m not diabetic (although my wife is type 1). I totally recommend this book for those who want a deeper understanding of this debate, and why whole food plant based is the much better long term option.

  • I’m struggling with this keto vs whole food battle. I think it is a dis-service to people to claim it is about just wanting to hear what you like. I did some keto and lost a bunch of weight. I managed it in great details and found out I’m not even that fond of red meat. Lots of fat all the time was not a great experience for me but I was loosing weight and feeling better until I wasn’t. I have symptoms that tell me this is not as healthy as I hoped and even a natural way of eating. So many keto videos have very scientific discussions on keto with references to research and why it maybe healthy. I have even read some of the papers and it does not appear to be as black and white as either side claims. For example more recent papers are showing calorie restricted feeding of keto style fats to rats can lead to equivalent life span but with in some cases improved health. Given my symptoms I’m looking at moving to a whole food diet with the same dedication but I have been vegan before. It worked until I had problems and found out I was missing some very important nutrients. I know someone who was raised vegan and developed what is now a permanent back issue caused having a back form with some malnutrition. I did not find it as easy as many claim. I lost weight there as well. Both sides need to start showing a bit more compassion with the other side and at least entertain some of the their ideas even if it is to show why they are incorrect with-out simply saying “the research supports this”. There maybe some truth on both sides. I want to know think like: What is wrong with their research? What did some of these papers do wrong or why are the supporters miss-understating the results or something objective like that. Then we can better judge for ourselves as well.

  • I really need a vegan doctor because whenever I say I’m vegan they always ask wether I’m getting enough of some sort of nutrient or just generally get judged.

  • My take would be is to do online research by typing, one phrase at a time, such as, VEGAN PALEO BREAKFAST RECIPES, VEGAN PALEO LUNCH RECIPES, VEGAN PALEO SALAD RECIPES, VEGAN PALEO SMOOTHIE RECIPES, VEGAN PALEO DINNER RECIPES, VEGAN PALEO DESSERT RECIPES, in the search box of YouTube.

  • So sad to see such negative non objective attitudes from the beginning. I was diagnosed diabetic two years ago and went on the keto diet. It controls your blood sugar and my bloods went back to those of a healthy person within 2 months and I lost 75lbs in about 4 months. My diabetes is totally controlled without meds ever, and all my deranged bloods went back to normal, within weeks.) To quote the host, sounds dangerous!!! One website particularly helped me called the diet doctor supported by qualified medical practitioners it has half a million hits per day it provides education support testimonials and guides for healthy eating. This is not a fad it really works and helps with many health problems. It actually saved my life and this piece really angered me. Some medical practitioners are beginning to catch up with recent research unfortunately the medical system all over the world is bogged down by doctors like the ones we see here today a very misleading representation of what the keto diet is

  • I have 14 months on keto, reduced carb, or whatever they want to call it, I was 270 pounds with 42% body fat, today and over 6 months I’m 180 with 24% body fat. I limit myself to under 40 grams of carbs. And cheat the body with diet drinks, I know they are not healthy but help with the sugar craving. I Went down from 40 pants to 36 and very comfortable. Keto or low carb, works. Also, my blood pressure, colesterol and glucose levels are way under control.

  • Dr can u pls answer my question,so don’t eat nuts maple syrup, bread, sugar, dry fruits,DR can u pls send to me what not to eat!!

  • Tim Ferriss
    * FAT IS NOT FOR EVERYONE People should do a DNA Test for the APO-E4 or E3/4 gene before they even try any fat diet especially a high fat diet. If they have this gene, eating fat could kill them. The below is an Excellent video to watch. The chart will appear around the 8:24 mark. But you must listen to the whole thing:

Take 2: Dr Mercola’s book FAT FOR FUEL, by Ford Brewer MD MPH; great idea, but check all the facts
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVvp0lGdjHQ

Question: Would the Intermittent fasting along with this slow carb diet speed up weight loss even more?
Why only black beans, can’t we eat other types of beans as well as green beans?
Can we ancient grains instead of only brown rice? They take long to digest. I read that the brown rice blocks absorption of minerals.

  • Theres doctors on you tube saying the exact thing with same proofs and examples of transformation and healing but for low carb ir keto etc…. soooooooooooooooooo

  • I did keto for 2 years no cheating due to parasites it helped!! Now that I am parasite free I am eating 50 grams carbs per day I think I get kicked out of ketosis. ( I have no idea because i need to get a blood tester. I only have urine strips as of now and it keeps coming up trace amounts, or I can barely make out the color).

  • I agreed with your until your said people say you can eat fried chicken. He never said that. I can’t remember the Drs name at the moment. That’s a no no with high fat diets.

  • ALRIGHT LISTEN UP YOU NA BELLIES!! Stop eating meat, cheese, milk and eggs and you will become healthier/healthy…….. WHERE’S MY PH.D?

  • I was also converted during a night watching videos and documentaries!

Gary Yourofsky’s video was the start of 12 hours non stop pro-vegan media!

  • Both of the guys in Fat Sick and nearly dead put the weight back on and couldn’t sustain the weight loss. Watch all those documentaries which is someone’s opinion in the moment and you’ll get hooked. Documentaries are meant to be convincing. I reversed my fatty liver, High cholesterol, and reduced my inflammation level using low carb/Keto. It’s not a one size fits all it’s what works best for the individual.

  • Dr. Ornish Diet is a failure. It doesn’t work. We are omnivores and there is nothing wrong with eating some animal protein. A healthy diet can include meat. However, coming off processed grains and sugars is the key for reversing diabetes. See Dr. Fung and the Obesity Code and the Diabetes Code. It’s not about being vegetarian. You can be an unhealthy vegetarian diabetic eating corn chips, white bread, and HFCS Colas.

  • The palio and keto diets do not promote no plant diet thats the crazy atkins diet you absoletely have to include a lot of vegetables on a keyo diet

  • Keto is not a diet is a MACROS MANIPULATION strategy…a diet is type of nutritional regimen that has to do with the food choices or considerations that you opt for.

And by the previous I mean specific food GROUPS mostly, regardless of the anmounts or percentages of fat over carbs or carbs over protein..etc, it is more about the INGREDIENTS that you choose to eat. (I.e: Pescetarian=fish and veggies, ovovegetarian: eggs and veggies, vegan: only veggies, etc). Having said all that, Paleo IS in fact a diet. Hence why you can combine Paleo+Keto or do Pescetarian Keto…or maybe even Vegan Keto.

A Key difference there. Finally, there’s IF which is a TIMING strategy, also suitable for combination, let’s say: Intermittent Fasting-KETO-Vegan…all at the same time.

  • Take a medically trained doctor,. He binge watches plant based media on Netflix one night on Netflix (not considering peer reviewed research), and is overnight converted to plant based. Seems like he has put a lot of thought into this.

  • What a great leap forward in the Whole Foods Plant Based world! Cure the disease through your diet, don’t suffer anymore by only maintaining or masking the symptoms.

  • Im on a keto diet eating meat like crazy,I support whatever makes people healthy and happy, and one thing is sure, there is not one diet that’s a cure for all.everyone is different with different problems and for that reason needs a specific diet for himself. Plant based is ok,keto isok, carnivor is ok…as long as your health is improving.its not a contest

  • I read the book then started Slow Carb. Did it for several weeks, let’s just say it’s not for me. I’ve been eating Keto and have been in ketosis for the past 20 weeks. Keto, hands down. I can easily follow it, It’s not boring, and it’s not difficult to keep my carbs under 20g/day.

  • Im confused, i thought Paleo & Keto had plenty of plant nutrition incorporated, just throw in a good cut of Salmon or grass fed beef with a bunch of avocado or coconut oil and away you go. I dont think deep fried chicken and an endless supply of bacon from a unhealthy pig defines keto.

  • Ummm… You have not done enough real research on the basics of Paleo. FAT IS USED AS THE FUEL!!!! Fruit… Yes. Preferably low sugar choices. The bread images though…?!?!? ABSOLUTE LIES!!! The reason why Paleo works is because the body goes into ketosis. There is no “eating junk” on Paleo. On keto you can definitely lose weight but processed foods and chemicals can cause health issues. On the other hand, Paleo eliminates all of the REAL junk and truly heals your body. The only people at a CrossFit box that are not in shape are those who do not eat a strict Paleo diet. Many of them don’t. They eat more of a Primal or follow a 5 days Paleo and 2 days off model. When it comes to Paleo you CANNOT “cheat”! The minute you do, your body goes out of ketosis and when you eat Paleo friendly foods, it no longer works. It takes 3-4 weeks of strict Paleo in order for your body to convert and use fat as fuel. You really should take this video down because there are NUMEROUS things you say and show that are inaccurate. To eat Paleo you just have to be truly dedicated and have the ability to not “cheat”. The discipline is the hardest thing for people. I believe the healing it does is COMPLETELY worth it! The cravings for junk go away once the body has converted to using fat as it’s fuel so if you cheat, it is all mental.

  • REMEMBER all good people.

We can not ignore animal protein in our daily diet.

Also today medical science and food science have proven thru research that all grains wheat, rice, oat, rye, sorghum etc

contain gluten and exorphin that perforate the small intestine and are a cause of all the diseases from hair on the head to toenails. And in it bovine milk is also included that contain casein that do the same destruction to small intestine and cause diseases.

All agricultral produce are harmful for mankind.

The best diet is………… fruits, dry fruits, nuts, honey, and tree milk and birds e.g. hens/ roosters. not broiler unnatural chickens.

Those vegans who hate to eat animals………… like roosters……. they should look at the formation of human teeth,

these teeth are both herbivorous and carnivorous……….. the Creator made our teeth and it is a sign that we are omnivorous

  • A doctor who changes his mind about nutrition from watching Forks over knives, and Fat, sick and nearly dead. Jesus, this is one easy to fool doctor.

  • That is because Human is Herbivore. He doesn’t even mention the Caging, Torture, Terror and Butcher of Billions of innocent animals that are Central Heart and Soul of Paleo-Ketogenic diet.

  • The ketogenic worked for me. But I just found it very very very difficult to do/sustain in Indonesia (where I live). 99.9% of the people have rice as a staple in their diet. And all the snacks and foods have some sort of heavy carbs in them. And…. meat is just generally MUCH more expensive than other foods here.

  • Everyone should just check out Brad’s Eat Stop Eat protocol. Don’t worry too much what you eat (just eat as clean as you can), and do 1 or 2 24hr fasts each week. It works!

  • Woohoo its happening folks the pyschotic meat eating BS propaganda is falling apart…
    The future IS WFPB VEGAN
    Humans are protectors not predators
Stand up and be proud of your humanity

  • I just want to add: plants’ looks may be deceiving, especially now when they are being sprayed with chemistry since they are grain in soil… (starches)
Also fruits, something is terribly wrong with them, same sprayed chemistry(toxins) on them, they are not good and their fructose
I found out for me best works soups from veggies though so far (non-starches). Never was fan of meat except turkey

  • What is taking so long for doctors to get this message???? Do they not believe it? Are they hostages of the pharma industry??? Please, keep getting this word out!

  • I’ve had to give up Keto because I’ve found myself lately having to start all over again many times in a short amount of time. Even though, it works, I can do it, I love the foods and I make all my own meals and I’m organized. BUT I’m in a period of my life where im very social, I go to many family events where a lot is weddings, funerals, traveling. I will never reject my boyfriends moms food even if she makes me something carby. I see my grandma a lot and I’m not gonna deny her cooking either or move the crabs to the side. When my Indian co workers bring food specifically for our classroom. I will never turn it down. I do not have the heart..ever. I’ll serve myself so I can control it, maybe it’s the mexican in me, but to me it’s just unacceptable (unless you’re allergic)..you dont do that. Even though it kicks me out if ketosis. Its RUDE, you dont even mention oh..”I dont eat _”…unless you really just dont like a certain food (peppers or something). You dont put people in those positions or anything like that when they’ve served you a plate. I’m dont find it rude at all when I’m the host and someone cant eat something. I just cant do it myself. Like..its instilled in me. I cant even think about getting the words out. “Oh I dont eat that..oh I dont eat this”. Guess it’s a cultural thing IDK! I’m not obese or even overweight. So for me..I guess having as little sugar as possible works for me…having as little carbs as I can works for me. But cutting a specific food completely out of my life…is out of the questions! ‍♀️

  • Actually all three diets have bright health benefits I kind of wonder what it would be like if they tried all three because technically you can have paleo vegan you can have keto vegan so technically you should be able to have all three

  • It’s funny how people go to the extreme either all plant-based or all animal-based diets. In both cases something miraculous happen they get better in many different ways. Diets should be based on an individual level. Personally I’m going carnivore and I feel the best I’ve ever felt in my life. Good luck to all out there seeking health may you find your right path.

  • I found paleo 4 yrs ago. Felt better compared to low fat plans, but still felt “off” & tired! Happened upon ketogenic info a year after. It was difficult to get information at that time, but since I was looking for mental clarity, possibly impending alzheimers, & needing energy to just LIVE, I figured a plan that worked for epilepsy patients might be worth trying! FF to now. Keto is not for every body, but MY body THRIVES off it. Depressing thoughts occur MUCH less. Cravings? None… I have to remind myself to eat to fuel my body! I go off-plan sometimes (social reasonsdifferent subject) & am blasted w the reminder of how I used to feel! Crapola!

  • Thing is a lot of people who go on keto have a lot of these exact same kinds of success stories. It makes me think that the power of the mind has a lot to do with how this works & how well it works. Maybe if you just believe in whatever you believe in, and believe it’s going to work for you, and follow it with the objective of health in mind, it will work. Somebody should try that out with the Twinkie and Ding Dong diet.

  • Life without carbs sucks big time. I had been doing the keto diet for a couple of weeks and I had cravings so bad that I thought I was going to loose my mind. I need my cheat meals/days.

  • I haven’t had milk since birth…everytime he mentions paleo he shows bread.. That’s not paleo dude. You’re an idiot with confirmation bias trying to sell keto. A scam artist who has to lie to sell something. I’m just as ripped as you and all I do is the paleo.

  • Keto diet may cause hypoglicemia attack and the very fact people stuff fat in them can make worse for medical help as fat block/slow glucose when a person need a fast sugar when due to hypo attack-I was on keto it can be dangerous if you blood sugar go to low on fat… Some people sugar is stable due to protein who also change in sugar, but then there is no longer keto diet if proteins overcome the fat

  • Instead of blaming, pointing fingers, & accusing Doctors of being pushers of pills-WHY DON’T WE take RESPONSIBILITY of our own health & DIET BEFORE a visit to a doctor. With Google & YT there’s no cause for ignorance. The research & facts have been out for years! It’s obvious you don’t have to be a doctor to get the info.

  • 1:45 you told us about a diabetic patient and how you advised him but you didn’t tell us what happened to him.
I’m diabetic and I’m on keto and I stopped my medicine and everything is perfect. Actually I’m a heart patient too and my doctor told me to stop my brilinta (blood thinner) after 3 perfect blood test.
Keto made me stop my medicines
    Keto is healing me.

  • No “milled” foods? What about almond flour, coconut flours? What about sweeteners that have been “processed” but are used as substitutes for sugar?

  • Can you do a video on steroids? Ive been thinking about doing steroids for a while but im not completely aware of its possible side effects, and im not sure if its worth it or not.

  • Slight correction. Paleo is really 10,000 years ago and more, rather than 1000. 1000 years ago in medieval europe and other places we were already eating very badly! 2500 years ago the Romans, and before them them Greeks suffered from gout. Indeed the mighty Egyptians in africa had terrible teeth and suffered from diabetes and obesity from eating so much bread and that was 7000 years ago!

  • I disagree. I believe if one is active and eating 65% to 70% of fat,and going into and out of ketosis is no problem if one avoids animal fats and keep protein below 20%,eat mainly vegetarian except fish. I think this guy likes to turn everything into religion. I only practice the keto diet occasionally, generally after a fast or before a fast, but I have found if one excludes all the animal fat junk then whether it is strict or not is not a problem. I did a couple of years ago practice keto for 3 months and listened to all the garbage about 30% protein and lots of animal and vegetarian fats and I never felt right and it was difficult. Last year I did it again for 3 months. No animal fats except oily fish, protein about 15% and carbs around 50 to 70grams a day. I lost weight felt great and most of the time I was in keto. I usually walk or run 10 miles a day or around 20,000 steps

  • a common misunderstanding tom? really well how come myself and many others eat a diet with plenty of fruit and are not fat, and have awesome health, I have had big bananas smoothies after my work outs for years, and I see the benefits time after time, no fat, just added muscle, and i’m afraid i’m not alone, 1000s of people do it this way with no problem, you have to stop putting across your floored point of a view, and be open to other information and solid studies.

  • Lol. You only gain weight with carbs if you just sit on the couch. Carbs are fuel to push hard. In which you burn it. This is fact.

  • I’m exploring the options of paleo and keto and had a question: in this video you mention paleo suits someone who is not very active more than keto but then in your ‘keto vs low carb’ video you say keto is best suited for someone less active. Am I’m missing something here? I’m trying to figure out which would be best for me but…? Thanks in advance for anyone’s help.

  • I think the small revenue you receive now will not outweigh the pains you have later. The paleo diet isn’t 2k years old. Agriculture is 10k years old. Ugh and your handy images of bread when explaining paleo is horribly misleading.

  • Usually a fan of your videos, but this felt like it missed the mark. These diets shouldn’t be compared because they are defined by different criteria. Keto is defined by macronutrient ratios, Paleo is defined by food sources. You can be Keto and Paleo at the same time, thereby undercutting many of the points you made in this video (eg: “Paleo utilizes carbs as a source of energy”).

  • I disagree. I believe if one is active and eating 65% to 70% of fat,and going into and out of ketosis is no problem if one avoids animal fats and keep protein below 20%,eat mainly vegetarian except fish. • Nice Video. Im also in the diet just right now. Sometimes it is hard to cook the right things for that. But i bought this
    asahbiworld.com/products/slicer

For 3 months.. it is very nice you can cut your vegetables in seconds. Maybe you can Show us some recipes for good diets

    Thanks for your good content:)

  • Glad to hear this man admit the lack of nutritional knowledge from doctors and the push for Big Pharma. I love his awakening, passion and push now which is centered around healing people with plant based foods

  • Great informative video, thanks for that..

For me it’s mainly about health (hey over tiredness etc) and mental health (help with mood and anxiety and depression, losing weight is a bonus.. Which is best?

  • Dr. Clayn explains that 3 week diet plan is a valid and fastest solution for attaining a slim body by a natural process, this makes it a safe choice too without any fear of side-effects click here 3WeekDietPlan55.blogspot.com:)?

  • He is so wrong. Dairy is not a Big thing persay in keto or carnivore. People adapt these protocols. If you are dairy intolerant don’t eat it. If l eat grains or carbs l put on weight regardless of calories. Remember please most of us do not train 24/7!!! You look good but you are rarity xx

  • Thomas, does Keto diet raise blood pressure or cholesterol? I’m on Keto for 3 weeks now and all of a sudden my blood pressure is high, I feel sometimes light headed. I understand not every diet is suited for everyone.

  • I personally would add ‘wild rice’ (REAL wild rice…..like the stuff the natives and others have been harvesting from the Great Lakes for thousands of years) as ‘permissible’ on the Paleo. Why? Couple reasons. It’s actually more a grass than a grain, and it’s minimally cultivated. One reason Paleo forbids almost all grains is that it contradicts the ‘Paleo’ in Paleo. Which predates cultivation and animal husbandry. However wild rice is cultivated in it’s natural state…..(grains beaten into the canoes by poles……..then cracked and ‘gleaned’ by hand for consumption)…….and it WAS gathered and consumed by ‘Paleo-Indians’ in North America. So……..’permissible’.

  • Anyone who thinks gut-wrecking almond milk-which isn’t even milk-is superior to dairy milk ( 2:50) has no business promoting himself as a nutrition expert. Why must every fitness YouTuber pretend to be a subject matter expert at everything?

  • Look I know everybody is hating on the hat (and yes, for months thanks to your video thumbnails i too thought you had taken to wearing an absolutely redundant sweat band).. And yes, everybody also has something sassy to say about the science of ketosis.. But honestly the takeaway for me in this video is your skin. Boiiiii, you look like you’ve had a facial. Don’t know if you’re into your science-based skincare but it looks like you’ve been rather expertly using those AHAs and vitamin A-derived products. Well played sir.

  • I love keto but Everytime i go into ketosis my electrolytes get out of wack despite replenishment. I do paleo with some dairy now just making during I have enough carbs to keep me out of ketosis

  • You forgot one major point. There are virtually no serious body builders or power lifters on keto diet. It’s to catabolic and overall carbs are a much better fuel source for heavy lifts and raw energy. Think keto best for runners, cyclists, endurance sports and while paleo best for full shaped muscles, CrossFit, pretty much any resistance training as a general rule.

  • Sorry Thomas but this is so incorrect. The Paleo I follow does NOT rely on carbs found in fruits at all. It is lots of non starchy veggies such as greens and also encourages fermented veggies. Normally I find you really thorough but this video is not. I get into ketosis just as easily with Paleo as I do with Keto.

  • Very GOOD explanation. I need to understand the eating habits more (like different meals for breakfast vs lunch vs dinner and if snacking), but after watching your videos I’m sure I’ll get it.

  • I’m 38 and not particularly over weight but I suffer with gout and slightly higher triglyceride levels. Which would be better for me, the keto or paleo diet?

  • Paleo from Paleolithic Era. It’s not thousand to two thousand years ago. It’s 2.58 million years ago, in the first place. Second, you want to eat the same way the ate before all the knowledge we have today?? Yeah, let’s talk about that…

  • 6 mo now doing paleo. I think it is the lack of dairy that has cured my acid reflux. I had it bad too. Hmm, it was never the jalapeños. Go figure.

  • I haven’t had milk since birth…everytime he mentions paleo he shows bread.. That’s not paleo dude. You’re an idiot with confirmation bias trying to sell keto. A scam artist who has to lie to sell something. I’m just as ripped as you and all I do is the paleo.

  • Usually I get a lot from your videos… but here you are trying to mislead people by showing huge loaves of bread every time you mention paleo, even though the paleo diet doesn’t allow any bread at all. Your bias is showing… and not in a scientific way.

  • Well, if your ancestors were from northern climates, you wouldn’t have a choice. During the winter you’re likely going to be in ketosis since all you could get is animal protein and fat. Then spring comes and there’s berries, fruits, abundant tubers etc.

  • Thomas, thank you for your cool video. I have a question: do you use any artificial supplements to build up muscle mass? Such as steroids or pills?

  • I never could understand why anyone could buy into Sweeteners. Either extra sugar is good or it is not. Sweets are a false commodity.

  • After a year of being keto both me and my wife have each lost over 70 lbs and have been able to eliminate some of our diabetes medications. We have had no trouble in maintaining a ketogenic diet because we are very careful about ingredients and we do most of our own cooking.

  • I were on paleo and now Im in keto, because I must lost weight and I cant do it on typical diet. (Beetwen paleo and keto I were 2 years on tradicial diet, on paleo I lost weight). When I think whats is better or easier for me, I think that paleo is easier, because U can eat fruits. I dont eat fruit very much, I think I was law-carb paleo, but on keto I cant eat watermelon on summer or different sezon fruits and its is a little sad from me, because I think that fruits are healthy if U dont eat it to much. i think when I will lost weight I come back to paleo, but paleo low-carb. This video is very good, thank You! And sorry for my English. Greetings from Poland!

  • Thomas, does Keto diet raise blood pressure or cholesterol? I’m on Keto for 3 weeks now and all of a sudden my blood pressure is high, I feel sometimes light headed. I understand not every diet is suited for everyone.

  • I prefer the slow-carb diet because it is easier to follow; a simple protocol that I can immediately follow without further studying anything in depth.

  • The absolute biggest myth of the keto diet is that it’s all fatty meat and no veggies. Actually you eat mostly veggies and about a hand size of meat per day.

  • Tim, the Keto diet/lifestyle is not nearly as complex and exacting as you make out. However it’s true that there are some basic principles to get right. A great source for clear, good information on keto is Dr Eric Westman. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_bdziQZS98

  • I know a guy who is on diálisis because he ate anything he wanted and drank a lot.I m sure if he knew about this diet his life would not be in danger

  • The keto diet helped me so much, my acne started clearing, I lost a few kgs and I finally am able to get out without being ashamed of my body and face. I still get breakouts but I have learned to accept my own face. My face was so horrible few months back,I couldn’t even smile. Really glad I found keto

  • these are doctors btw. really shows you how corrupt the system is. I don’t think i’ve ever heard a podcast with more ‘i thinks’ in them w/o a single study reference.

  • Why does fat and protein have to be the alternative fuel. Bread and pasta aren’t natural sources of energy, they just taste great. How did we survive in the winters when there were no carbs to harvest? The fats and protein help control my hunger. Carbs I find are less effective at doing this. This is why many people lose so much weight and keep it off when they control their carb intake. Carbs are not going to kill you, its how much of them you consume. I find I am always hungry when I have my carb days and I feel bad at the end of the day.
There is no one diet for every person. See what works for you and stick to that. See what gives you the best results.

  • I have been on keto for about 8 months now and lost about 50 lbs. Noticed a lot of other benefits as well-such as mental clarity, overcoming depression, and energy. Fast forward after I reached my weight loss goal and I started to incorporate low glycemic fruits into my diet like all the berries. Fast forward a bit more and now I find myself craving more and more and more berries before reaching satisfaction. Fast forward a couple of weeks more and now I’m gaining weight again-just from incorporating berries. BERRIES! lol. But on the plus side? I’ve been moving my bowels almost every day while eating berries whereas on keto I’d be lucky to poop 1x a week.
Weeks after incorporating berries, I’ve also noticed I’ve lost a lot of the mental clarity, and a lot of depression came back. I’m not going to say that correlation equals causation, but it’s just too coincidental. In the end, Sugar is Sugar, no matter what the fiber content. And sugar is the main culprit here. I need to go back into ketosis and COMPLETELY stop eating fruits. Period.

  • The Keto eliminates processed flours however, the oils, olive, macadamia, i.e., are allowed even though those are processed? Same can be said with butter.

  • I did Keto for a few months but wound up with too many cravings. 20 grams of carbs a day maximum was a dealbreaker. So I started doing modified Keto instead, limiting sugar, eating healthy fats, protein, and vegetables like kale, spinach, broccoli, brussel sprouts, and esparragos, and drinking plenty of water and seltzer, but allowing myself to have between 50-60 grams of carbs a day, which still isn’t a whole lot. This combined with exercise 3 to 4 days a week with weights. It worked for a few of my friends as they lost fat, weight, and gained muscle. I also do a whole lot of walking.

  • Dear Doctors, I read a lot on a keto communication Network and a lot of people are complaining about constipation high cholesterol not feeling well what do you do about these on the ketogenic diet how do you not become constipated and control your high cholesterol what’s your take on this.

  • Please answer my question, does eating slow digesting food, like casein, at the end of the feed state mess with the start of the fasting state, in sense of the fasting state beginning at the last meal ingested or digested? And does whey break keto?

  • What is the difference between a ketogenic diet and a low carb diet? One of you does keto and one does low carb. How do your diets differ?

  • I’m on a combination of Paleolithic and Mediterranean diets. I find it impossible to cut out all carbs! Yes, I’ve cut out almost all sugar (except at parties), but the rest of the carbs are difficult to cut.

  • Great video….I also wonder though because I’ve done Keto but miss fruit and some others things, could I not just switch to Paleo after losing weight on Keto? HOpe you can do a video about this question.:)…

  • You are very well researched an have a phenominal vocabulary! Thanks so much for your insight on these diets.
I have a question for anyone with an answer how many net carbs should one have to be on a slow carb diet? On my 2,000 ckal diet I consume about 100 to 150 grams.
I like oatmeal with raisins, the odd fruit, beans/legumes and a very little bit of whole grains (brown rice, sprouted grain bread, flax/chia seeds and quinoa).
I’m very anxious about nutrition. I feel confident that I’m getting sufficient nutrients, though I constantly feel conflicted on what my ratio should be for my macronutrients.

This video has been a big help. It’s good to know carbs aren’t the enemy. I’ve still been scared out of eating potatoes though due to the fear of becoming insulin resistant. (I’m sort of a hypocondriac…)

  • Being from Louisiana I absolutely refuse to give up my red beans and rice. I will make adjustments in my macros especially since I practice OMAD.

  • The only explanation for why Tim Ferriss would wear the ugliest, most distracting hat ever is to conduct a social experiment using our comments. Brilliant!

  • All you guys want that FAD KETO diet to work. Any diet once you cut out something is going to make you loose weight in the short term. The key is what is it going to do long term & their is NO way that the Keto Diet can & will work long term & to make work. Just CAN NOT do a HIGH FAT diet long term & NOT have issues. Just NOT possible, sorry you Fad people

  • I’ve done the McDougal’s diet and lost 80 lbs. I did keto and lost 15lbs. I’m going back to no oil/fat veganism. Now that I’m much older I have realized that this just works for me. I see keto work for some friends of mine and that’s great! So go get your blood work from your doctor. Then figure out how to fix it yourself. Don’t get advice from your drug pushing doctor, that’ll be worse! Peace, good health and love to everyone!!!♥️

  • Never realized until now, how close my personal keto diet is to Paleo; basically the only non Paleo thing I’m using is store bought collagen powder and liquid stevia extract. Pretty interesting

  • Both paleo and keto are crap and potentially dangerous and are actually based on wrong theoretical bases. But they seem to be a good source of income at least for this wannabe nutritionist.

  • The person sitting in the middle who is against keto is so ignorant lol to the benefits of keto and speaks so negatively of it… kinda hard to watch.

  • Can I just argue here? The data says if you fast, especially for several consecutive days, you WIL burn fat. A lot of it. Your resting metabolic rate, and the maintenance of the body alone requires energy. If there’s none coming in, the body will burn the fat reserves. Dear fabulous Tim, how can you state that you won’t burn fat in a multiple day fast?

  • That’s all very funny Tim
Why take exogenous ketones if it’s possible to train your body to go into ketosis by fasting occasionally. This is a normal condition for the human body, achieved due to necessity by our ancestors, and achieved with a bit of discipline in our day. The 9 day fast story is amazing. You lose me on keto diets and exogenous ketones. You are amazing, of course, and I’m going to look into which of your books to buy, while during and after doing all those push-ups I do, it is great to get a bit of confirmation from a great mind as yourself that making my bed in the morning (always do it) and the push-ups (start my day), journalling, etc, is something you recommend. Thanks

  • So I am a flexitarian and find the balance of this is perfect. I am vegan during the week and on weekends eat some yogurt, fish, or meat. It’s a balance diet. I wouldn’t mind being vegetarian and then turn to vegan but it would take a lot for me

  • Hello.. How are you..

    He called me yuris…

I want you to know my experience with a very short and very effective homemade diet that helped me regain my initial weight and has kept my figure … I recommend this course is very simple and effective when it comes to losing weight … without leaving home

  • By following these methods, I have already lost 32 pounds since January 27, 2020… starting with 270. Leto is not just a diet, for me it is a life-saving lifestyle! I’m going for the next 30 pounds!

  • id like to do something other than keto,, i have limited how many eggs i eat,,, or how to eat them,,, paleo might be a good fit..
i am looking to keep the no carbs or just green carbs… only dairy i use is cheese… and its parmesan romano cheese.. and still no sugar….. i have dropped my fat to 50g or less then upted my protein to.8g of protein, to lose fat..

most whey proteins and now humapro has been found to have Maltodextrin….. the insulin spiker…. i learned the hard way..

i just bought some vegan sun warrior protein…

  • I did keto for 2 years no cheating due to parasites it helped!! Now that I am parasite free I am eating 50 grams carbs per day I think I get kicked out of ketosis. ( I have no idea because i need to get a blood tester. I only have urine strips as of now and it keeps coming up trace amounts, or I can barely make out the color).

• As I understand, the keto diet is good for a short period of time. On the other hand, it would be hard to live a life without other nutrients found in carbohydrates. So the principle would be to find the equilibrium in our bodies (because all our bodies are different) where we consume and enjoy nutritious foods in a responsible way. I don’t think following a keto diet for all my life is realistic. But we must be careful on how to approach our individual nutritional needs. If you can go to a real specialist and follow a long term, balanced life style, do it!!

  • It really amazes me how much misinformation there is with the paleo diet. Our Palaeolithic ancestors were not eating bread and pancakes that a lot of the mainstream paleo cookbooks incorporate. Wild fruits during the available seasons, non-starchy veg, meat and fish. Maybe some nuts and seeds but I suppose it depends on what part of the world they were in. Apart from the seasons of when fruit trees are in flower, a proper ancestral paleo diet is pretty much a keto-paleo diet.

  • Just watched people get malnutrition and look fukn horrible in a whole food plant based diet….. Wtf? Explain also the negatives in this diet. What are the long term cons

  • 1 minute 30 seconds in i stop to research his diet. Wtf why is he even trying to compare the 2. Nothing feels natural or sustainable in his diet at all. Does he even know what ketosis is?

  • Should do a Raw Dairy vs Pasteurized dairy video… Pasteurizing kills the necessary enzymes to digest dairy… Most people that are lactose intolerant actually do well on raw Dairy… But I don’t think there’s any studies on that subject…

  • I can’t figure out whether this was suppose to be a diet vid or a fashion vid with all of the ridiculous comments about the hat. You got to be the blindest f-k in the world not to see that it’s a toboggan!

I don’t really think he cares that you don’t like his hat, at least I hope not!

Tim, thanks for the info, I was able to regulate my glucose and hypertension and lose over 25 pounds on keto, but it was just too hard to manage on a budget/time basis; Time is money and it took hours and extra finances to plan and get it right without killing myself and smelling like an oily gourmet dish.

I have been researching ways to get the same results without going keto. Please share some more info on how you do this,

And the HAT staysit’s you; would love to see it in your future videos.

  • Tnx for this video. I prefer to hit ketosis by IF or longer fast. But I want to eat a variety of food and the high fat makes me feel gross. So the main change for me is trading processed sugar and carbs for better ones. And just allowing myself just one serving of carbs a day i.e. crepe, pancake, bread, rice, pasta and really enjoy it. And eating more vegetables.

  • You are very well researched an have a phenominal vocabulary! Thanks so much for your insight on these diets.

  • Both of these diets work well for me but I’m going to give Slow Carb the win.

I first did keto a while back and lost a ton of weight. Then I hit a plateau and got discouraged and slowly went off it and gained all the weight back and then some. Did low carb again and lost a bunch. Went off it and slowly gained weight back.

Then The 4 hour Body came out and I loved the idea of a cheat day. Did that and lost weight again. Slow carb felt healthier to me than low carb/keto. When I do low carb I eat a lot of saturated fat. A lot of cheese and natural peanut butter because it’s so easy and quick and keeps me in ketosis. But it doesn’t feel right. Tim’s book and the slow carb way of eating make me feel a lot healthier even with the crazy one cheat day a week I go through.

I count my calories on both diets and I try and stay in a 2 lb deficit per week and it’s amazing how little I can eat during the week on the slow carb diet and be fully satisfied. I can easily eat 500-700 calories a day and be fine (and I’m a big guy), vs keto there’s just too many choices for me and I can easily eat 2000 calories a day instead of the 1500 I shoot for. The cheat day on slow carb is perfect for me because even going as crazy as I can go I’m still usually in a 2+ lb deficit if you look at the total calories per week.

I also add one day fasting per week after my cheat day which is the easiest fast to do because my cheat day is usually so big I don’t even get hungry until the next night, if at all.

But don’t get me wrong, I’ve also gone off slow carb and gained the weight back. I just have a problem with eating whatever I want whenever I want. But slow carb definitely fits my personality the best. I’ve been on keto now for about six weeks and have been eating way too much and also had the bright idea of adding a cheat day to keto and have observed it takes me 6 days to get back into ketosis so a cheat day is obviously horrible for keto. So yeah, I was on the fence about starting slow carb back up again on Monday and the man that wrote the book just convinced me. Thanks again, Tim!

  • Did he say “each pound of fat is something along the lines of 9,000 calories”? Uuuhhh…… no. That’s an odd mistake for Tim Ferriss, of all people, to make.

  • I prefer the slow-carb diet because it is easier to follow; a simple protocol that I can immediately follow without further studying anything in depth.

  • Did I miss something, or did he give 2 very different percentages for the failure rate of people on the ketogenic diet? At two points ( 0:20 & 5:36) he seems to say that it was over 90% and at another point ( 3:32) he said that it was over 60%.

  • I tried keto and I really struggled. I have no gall bladder and so the high fat content made me feel sick all the time. Not trying to be gross but I couldn’t leave the bathroom. I tried so many enzymes and biles to help process the fats but it did not work for me, I still felt really ill. Also I recently found out I am allergic to dairy, soy and gluten. I really want to lose weight I just am not sure if my stomach can take the high fat content. So i was going to try paleo to see if it would help me. Do you have any tips regarding my situation?

  • Both of these diets work well for me but I’m going to give Slow Carb the win.

  • Slow carb always worked best for me. I was able to lose 30lbs in 2-3months a few years ago. I was able to keep it off when I stayed away from high carbs/processed foods. I’m doing IF and cruise control(anti inflammatory diet) Slower weight lost but not catching any colds. I like both diets!

I may do slow carb for a month to knock off 10lbs. Luv slow carb

  • The word ketosis is a freaking trigger for mental illness. Gimmi a break. Eating is not that complicated. Eat food that is real food. Did the cave men stand around with their tally sheets? Again, Eat food that is healthy…..Not to change the subject but was that hat a real decision you made?

  • Tim’s got this wrong, imo. Keto is the easiest thing I’ve have done and I love it. The food options are LIMITLESS and so delicious. At a basic level, keto is simply: real food, minus grains, starches, sugars or bad fats. Sure, the macros are a critical component, but that’s the easiest part thanks to today’s tech and apps. Just make sure you stay on top of your mineral intake and work-in intermittent fasting. Everyone is different. If you need to, get a doctor involved to start with and test your bio markers. Lots of great info on YouTube from several MDs who support this lifestyle: Dr Berry, Dr Westman, Dr Hyman, etc…

  • I was on Keto for 3 months losing weight but feeling terrible having issues with salt and electrolytes so I’m going to slow carb and working out more I’ll be watching all your videos:)

  • Thank for confirming my slow/ low carb diet is good enough. You are right it is pretty easier, and I am one of those people who are not discipline with details like you are and would make myself sick on Keto.

I am calmer with more stamina and actually enjoy walking a lot more and curious to see how car can I walk.

The slow carb/ low carb diet made me feel a lot better. I don’t have to pay attention to caloric details. I just eat about 4 to 6 ounces of meat (estimated). Eat less carbs that are slow carbs with all the yum yum fat I can eat. It not much since I am not that hungry though I want to eat more because its so good! I just look forward to the next meal! Yeayah!:-)

  • The only explanation for why Tim Ferriss would wear the ugliest, most distracting hat ever is to conduct a social experiment using our comments. Brilliant!

  • Ok but what about calories?! High carb diets normally have really low calories. It’s so difficult to emulate that in a keto diet, so won’t you gain a lot of weight due to the increase of calories unless you’re constantly eating eggs?

  • I did slow carb years ago and it worked great. I’m doing keto now and it also is working. I felt I had a problem with sugar so eliminating it altogether seemed like a good option to break that cycle. I also was very sick of beans. From a practical standpoint, I eat fairly similar on both, but instead of beans as a side with my meals I’ll have an ounce or two of cheese, or a handful of nuts. I have also struggled with low energy for a long time so I hoped keto would help with that, although I’m not noticing a ton of change there. Tim always encourages self experimentation, see what works for you, so if after a few more months I’m not seeing the results I want I’ll go back to slow carb, but for now keto is doing fine.

  • Keto + IF + cheat meal is the best combo for me.. i hv reduced 25 pounds in 9 mnts and almost near my goal weight.. keto is not boring if u learn to cook some alternatives to yr favourite receipes.. it supresses hunger and cravings, so there is no need to struggle with your will power.. why take exogenous ketones when yr body can make it? Anyhow I understand slow carb is beneficial to many but keto is super beneficial to most..

  • Hi Tim, I have heard that beans have a estrogenic effect on the body. Is this true? Also, I work the night shift. Do you have any recommendations for preventing long term damage to the body? Finally, I started the year at 193 and am now down to 176 using the four hour body diet. This is something I can do for the rest of my life. Thanks again.

  • As far as to whether or not you had lymes disease, why didn’t you get a blood test? That’s what I did, and I’m glad I did ‘cause I tested positive.

Thanks for all the good information!

  • Slow carb..on the mark..however the variance is due to lipolytic enzyme production. ie the lack of potency..

The medical nutrition and scientific literature suffers from 8 error messages, blind spots and human behavior glitches. Researchers are only 50% accurate in in fat loss tactics due to the fact that there are two systems of bodyfat at play not just one. Blood rich brown and pesky pernicous white

95% of dieting population would already be dead if human metabolism solely depended on the faulty dieting practices of pesky pernicious white fat..

Blood-rich Brown fat has significantly more biometric control..Losing weight far easier and less error ridden when utilizing exercise short codes combined with energizing your body’s most misunderstood metabolic master cylinder.

new modern and meaningful self-test tools..entering the public domain shortly..

Thanks

  • I have 14 months on keto, reduced carb, or whatever they want to call it, I was 270 pounds with 42% body fat, today and over 6 months I’m 180 with 24% body fat. I limit myself to under 40 grams of carbs. And cheat the body with diet drinks, I know they are not healthy but help with the sugar craving. I Went down from 40 pants to 36 and very comfortable. Keto or low carb, works. Also, my blood pressure, colesterol and glucose levels are way under control.

  • these are doctors btw. really shows you how corrupt the system is. I don’t think i’ve ever heard a podcast with more ‘i thinks’ in them w/o a single study reference.

  • I have reached my weight loss goal on Keto. Should I stay with Keto or try and move to a less restrictive eating protocol like Paleo?
I’m finding it difficult to maintain my weight…I keep losing!

  • Wow! I’ll bet she also still believes in the food pyramid. There is so much research out there supporting a ketogenic diet, this lady needs to upskill. Keto works, not only for weightloss but general wellness. I’m on it and feel better than I have for years.

  • There is one woman on YouTube that says she’s been keto over 10 years and started it after her mom was diagnosed with a glioblastoma brain tumor. She is Stephanie Ketoperson.
Another though is I’ve seen keto and vegan can go together. Avacodo & nuts are keto and vegan foods.

  • Okay note here fried foods in general are not ketofriendly. Any news source telling you that is wrong and you doubting the ketogenic diet because of that source is also wrong. Ketosis is a natural cycle we went through as we evolved it is a good thing for us to be in ketosis. in addition anyone telling you you can eat as much butter as you want on a ketogenic diet is wrong. You eat fat for satiety. drives me crazy hearing all these misconceptions about all the different diets.

  • Of course she is going to demonise keto diet, she doesn’t want her business going down, for me keto is the only way to reverse diabetes 2 and insulin resistance, and losing weight. I will do this keto diet for life, a lots of people are doing the same.

  • no keto is NOT cutting out veg, some fruits yes because of the sugar content, but keto is always adding dark leafy green veg certain fruits are allowed that arent so sweet. theyre promoting doritos (foods that make diabetes) but saying keto is unsustainable and unhealthy lol thats how you know theyre promoting lies…

  • I lost over 70 pounds with Keto in my first year. Bounce-free, it’s sustainable I feel great! Always satisfied. Today is my day 480.

  • Very GOOD explanation. I need to understand the eating habits more (like different meals for breakfast vs lunch vs dinner and if snacking), but after watching your videos I’m sure I’ll get it.

  • I have rheumatoid arthritis for long time n I’m searching what it’s best for my diet, i wanted to be drug free at the moment i am using turmeric, ginger mix with my smoothie n im not having red meat, not pork always, only chicken n fish al the time, but my daughter n her kids are doing,so when i look what they have i never eat there food, because was told not eat meat, but the best thing I’m seeing on my grannies skin its smooth my eight year old grand she has eczema when she young, she always have cream s n shower with crea fr doctor. No gunk food, no sugar n salt
Is it good for rheumatoid arthritis people.thats my concern it’s good to know. Thank you fr N.Z

  • Most helpful video about the difference between keto an paleo. Thank you.
I love the idea of paleo but I need ketosis and it’s such a relief to know that I can get both by just sticking to keto but caveman keto.

  • The Keto diet and Intermittent Fasting has changed my life, I have lost 27lbs. in 30 days. The best part for me is that my back pain is gone, I was just told 3 months ago that I needed surgery on my lower back. Guess what Not happening!!!

  • I’ve also lost weight using Dr Dean Ornish’s low fat diet (<10% of calories) and also felt great and lost weight. Seems like a placebo effect could be in play. Any diet that cause people to become conscious about eating probably helps a significant proportion of the population lose weight. I can see Keto works but at what possible long term costs? Why this and not that?

  • I read that the idea that glycogenesis from protein consumption kicks you out of ketosis had been debunked. What i found mainly was that if ur not careful, u can have serious health issues with the diet if you dont watch your mineral intake. Magnesium and sodium mainly. Plus, it looks like a fad really.

  • the strange thing about this diet is it has become a religion and sacred to many, you can’t even question it this is while no long time study has been done on this diet and its effect:) all we have is people online claiming to be doing this for a very long time
    any studies? no

  • Limiting carbs in ketosis, not a good idea. You’re using a pathway that you’re body really doesn’t want to use. It’s an emergency pathway that can lead to kidney issues. Yes it may cause some weight loss.

  • this lady a doc?? if your can think better with ketons i would say your brain preffers ketons. your body pees out lots of minerals everyday. is that stressful too? com on now lady

  • I know a guy who is on diálisis because he ate anything he wanted and drank a lot.I m sure if he knew about this diet his life would not be in danger

  • You didn’t mention vegetables…. LOL… or I missed it. Vegetables, of course, are encouraged on all diets paleo, low carb and keto (varied on the basis of how many carbs you are aiming for but all diets say that vegetables are necessary and healthy.) I follow a low carb (75 100 total carb grams per day), moderate protein, moderate fat, lots of veggies, max of 1 fruit per day Paleo diet. Some people on Paleo diets eat no dairy, some eat moderate full-fat dairy. I don’t eat any dairy because I am lactose intolerant. I also follow Dr. Becky’s 0-1-2-3 plan……. So I eat 3 meals a day: each meal has protein and healthy fats. I have 1 large salad per day, 2 cups of cooked veggies and stop eating 3 hours before bedtime. I eat 0 sugar. I count my total carb grams. After the carbs of my large salad and 2 cups of cooked vegetables per day, I fill out my 75 100 total carbs per day with some berries or a small baked sweet potato or a little bit of rice. Works for me…….

  • Can’t believe that pink blonde representing Mayo Clinic!!
Of the other two i am not surprised. Plaine phd crab..its time to widen your horizons Misses!!!!!!!!

  • By following these methods, I have already lost 32 pounds since January 27, 2020… starting with 270. Leto is not just a diet, for me it is a life-saving lifestyle! I’m going for the next 30 pounds!

  • I’m starting to feel better, sleep better….(Gut )my immune system good. I had no energy at first, day to day. I drink green smoothie: kale/spinach, celery, banana, berries, apples. On empty stomach every morningdetox acv(bragg) lemons, ginger, honey

  • RELAX, I do both, now doing Omad keto for a month, then two to three weeks Paleo. Then do it again.
Lost 70 pounds. No inflammation, pain, or headaches.

  • Of course she is going to demonise keto diet, she doesn’t want her business going down, for me keto is the only way to reverse diabetes 2 and insulin resistance, and losing weight. I will do this keto diet for life, a lots of people are doing the same.

  • i dont know what a slow carb diet even is, so i can hardly comment on it. what i can say is that the ketogenic diet does NOT prohibit high-starch vegetables such as beans and peas. potatoes are kind of in the gray area of what is permitted. probably it is safe to say that sweet potatoes are okay to eat, while white potatoes should be avoided. also, the ketogenic diet does allow one to eat berries as well as citrus fruits. also, generally speaking, women should eat no more and no less than 50 grams of net carbs per day, while men should eat no more and no less than 75 grams of net carbs per day

  • I lost over 70 pounds with Keto in my first year. Bounce-free, it’s sustainable I feel great! Always satisfied. Today is my day 480.

  • I lost more weight on a high carb low-fat diet along with exercise than in any other way I tried. Given that the number one killer these days is coronary heart disease which comes mostly from high-fat diets how in the world can you promote high-fat diets as doctors?

  • His description of ketogenic diet as eat as much butter, steak…as you want shows he hasn’t really looked into the ketogenic diet, so this video is not a credible source of information for that diet.

  • I love keto but Everytime i go into ketosis my electrolytes get out of wack despite replenishment. I do paleo with some dairy now just making during I have enough carbs to keep me out of ketosis

  • The absolute biggest myth of the keto diet is that it’s all fatty meat and no veggies. Actually you eat mostly veggies and about a hand size of meat per day.

  • Paleo from Paleolithic Era. It’s not thousand to two thousand years ago. It’s 2.58 million years ago, in the first place. Second, you want to eat the same way the ate before all the knowledge we have today?? Yeah, let’s talk about that…

  • It’s really sad that not even a million people is subscribed to this channel. That tells you that a lot of people don’t know about a plant base diet. No wonder we’re all so sick

  • this lady a doc?? if your can think better with ketons i would say your brain preffers ketons. your body pees out lots of minerals everyday. is that stressful too? com on now lady

  • I like his objective facts. I cant seem to stick to Keto because I crave the al dente texture of things like brown rice. Still trying to figure out what’s best for me

  • This is amazing. Good to hear. I only have one question, did he find that patient he counceled wrongly and put things right? Just curious. I am not entirely wholefood Plant based yet but getting there…. It just can’t happen soon enough but still struggling.

Yeayah!:-)

  • Limiting carbs in ketosis, not a good idea. You’re using a pathway that you’re body really doesn’t want to use. It’s an emergency pathway that can lead to kidney issues. Yes it may cause some weight loss.

  • Let me say up front that I like this guy and am not trying to negate his message. And I’m NOT a low carb fan by any meansthe only times I tried it, I found myself wanting to cry over not having my grains and beans-, but I don’t see how this guy can imply that diabetes is also not reversed by low carb diets. There are thousands of examples of people having the same kind of reversal as the patient whose picture was shown by going low carb. I do think that they have a sizable risk of developing other problems later eating so many animal foods, but they do reverse the diabetes. Each side has its successes. People get off their medications just by losing weight sometimes. A woman I know reversed her condition still eating cookies! Not advocating that, just saying there are other less radical ways to do it. No matter how healthy a plan is, if it is very extreme, you will lose an important percentage of people. I’m online often at a weight loss site and can’t believe the number of people on diabetes meds talking about the cheesecake or other dessert they just ate. Granted, their doctors don’t insist they give these things up, but that is not just because they don’t understand the science, it’s because people don’t do what doctors tell them to do! I’m eating most plant-based, but I would have to have a pretty serious condition to give up my olive oil, especially since some of the longest lived people in the world eat a lot of olive oil. Most of us are not going to live long enough to see how this plays out. Will the. low carb-ers start dying off in old age? They think the plant-based eaters will have problems later, too, but I would take that bet any day. In the meantime, yay veggies, beans and grains!

  • Check the caribou antlers on his wall from his hunt with Steve Rinella. I bet the slow carb fat loss is partly due to maintaining energy levels and mobility is easier on that.

  • Great video. Oddly people ask me this question often and I don’t know in depth because I’m on Keto not paleo. I have told them on Paleo people don’t eat dairy or count carbs.

  • The problem with this kind of advice is the idea that paleo is defined and has a set list of recommendations. Who actually defined what is a Paleo diet? Furthermore, Paleo is about FOOD QUALITY first. It’s about the best possible foods you can find that are ancestrally appropriate. From there, you can eat like the Intuit (definitely keto) or the kitavans (70% carb) and do just fine. Paleo is more keto if you take the majority of observed hunter gatherers and look at their natural diets because most of them ate very little carbs, especially at certain times of the year.

  • 6 mo now doing paleo. I think it is the lack of dairy that has cured my acid reflux. I had it bad too. Hmm, it was never the jalapeños. Go figure.

  • Both paleo and keto are crap and potentially dangerous and are actually based on wrong theoretical bases. But they seem to be a good source of income at least for this wannabe nutritionist.

  • Lotta hate in these comments. lol brainwashed population!!! plants don’t make you sick. oatmeal is a plant. rice is a plant. a potato is a plant. if it comes from a plant and it isn’t full of fat and sugar and chemicals, it is healthy! dude’s RIGHT

  • very hard to believe anyone who has not tried the diet themselves. worthless information. they even admit people on the keto diet are loosing a LOT of weight. would they be happier if those people gained it all back? would that somehow be more healthy?

  • I never could understand why anyone could buy into Sweeteners. Either extra sugar is good or it is not. Sweets are a false commodity.

  • My biggest concern on these diets is how I’m able to fuel high intensity spin and boxing workouts if I’m not consuming carbs. That being said, did I hear you say in this video, that under the keto diet, using stored fats as a fuel source is actually MORE effective than using carbs?

  • Can you do a video on steroids? Ive been thinking about doing steroids for a while but im not completely aware of its possible side effects, and im not sure if its worth it or not.

  • The person sitting in the middle who is against keto is so ignorant lol to the benefits of keto and speaks so negatively of it… kinda hard to watch.

  • I loved this video. I have been trying to understand the difference between the two and this was very helpful. Thanks for posting.

  • These ebooks are very important…Search for “Food for weight loss” on google groups, Click “Food for weight loss” group, Click on “join group” button, Click “25 ebooks”, Then click “Download Now”

  • I’m sure Dr. Lim is a fine person & physician however, It seems as though advocates of all these diets, plant based, keto, paleo, carnivore, etc. etc. all make the same health claims and all take the absolute position that every other diet is, extreme, harmful, etc. etc. etc. I believe the truth must exist somewhere in between and it is up to each of us to wade through the self aggrandizing BS put forth by this endless array of “experts” to find the truth for ourselves.

  • Wow.

  • Never realized until now, how close my personal keto diet is to Paleo; basically the only non Paleo thing I’m using is store bought collagen powder and liquid stevia extract. Pretty interesting

  • Most helpful video about the difference between keto an paleo. Thank you.
I love the idea of paleo but I need ketosis and it’s such a relief to know that I can get both by just sticking to keto but caveman keto.

  • I’m 38 and not particularly over weight but I suffer with gout and slightly higher triglyceride levels. Which would be better for me, the keto or paleo diet?

  • These ebooks are very important…Search for “Food for weight loss” on google groups, Click “Food for weight loss” group, Click on “join group” button, Click “25 ebooks”, Then click “Download Now”

  • Why not everyone follow a diet that ensures a disease-free life? Because it requires getting rid of all the pleasures you have before you get sick. As the bible says: many are called, and few chosen. The over population is not good either

  • Thank you both..!!! I’ve been wondering about Paleo. I just restarted keto on Monday after 2 weeks off. I was on it for 6 months and plateaued, I even gained 5 lbs. I thought maybe my body needed a reset/kick-start to start losing weight again.
After I reach my goal weight I’ve considered moving to Paleo, but didn’t know much about it. Now I do, thanks to you both..!
Keep up the great work and thanks again!

  • Life without carbs sucks big time. I had been doing the keto diet for a couple of weeks and I had cravings so bad that I thought I was going to loose my mind. I need my cheat meals/days.

  • You always see “keto eyes” on people following keto and carnivore diets. Discolouration or bags around eyes. This is due to load on kidneys (protein) and liver (fat) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Al6giDfoGIA

  • Hello.. How are you..

    He called me yuris…

I want you to know my experience with a very short and very effective homemade diet that helped me regain my initial weight and has kept my figure … I recommend this course is very simple and effective when it comes to losing weight … without leaving home

  • I’m doing keto, but I don’t eat any red meat. Very small portion of my diet comes from chicken or fish. Most of my calories is Avocado and chia seeds. You can do both.

  • My biggest concern on these diets is how I’m able to fuel high intensity spin and boxing workouts if I’m not consuming carbs. That being said, did I hear you say in this video, that under the keto diet, using stored fats as a fuel source is actually MORE effective than using carbs?

  • I think the small revenue you receive now will not outweigh the pains you have later. The paleo diet isn’t 2k years old. Agriculture is 10k years old. Ugh and your handy images of bread when explaining paleo is horribly misleading.

  • Check the caribou antlers on his wall from his hunt with Steve Rinella. I bet the slow carb fat loss is partly due to maintaining energy levels and mobility is easier on that.

  • 1 minute 30 seconds in i stop to research his diet. Wtf why is he even trying to compare the 2. Nothing feels natural or sustainable in his diet at all. Does he even know what ketosis is?

  • After a year of being keto both me and my wife have each lost over 70 lbs and have been able to eliminate some of our diabetes medications. We have had no trouble in maintaining a ketogenic diet because we are very careful about ingredients and we do most of our own cooking.

  • Hi Tim Ferriss I can’t find any video or google search where you talk about your low carb 4 hour diet actually helps cure fatty liver. Does it?

  • I like his objective facts. I cant seem to stick to Keto because I crave the al dente texture of things like brown rice. Still trying to figure out what’s best for me

  • I was on Keto for 3 months losing weight but feeling terrible having issues with salt and electrolytes so I’m going to slow carb and working out more I’ll be watching all your videos:)

  • For such a smart guy he’s a idiot about ketosis. 75% fat is utter bullshit. I’m in ketosis 80% protein 20% fat for years now.

  • Did he say “each pound of fat is something along the lines of 9,000 calories”? Uuuhhh…… no. That’s an odd mistake for Tim Ferriss, of all people, to make.

  • Did I miss something, or did he give 2 very different percentages for the failure rate of people on the ketogenic diet? At two points ( 0:20 & 5:36) he seems to say that it was over 90% and at another point ( 3:32) he said that it was over 60%.

  • I have done both. Slow carb is basically short-term keto every week. It all depends on what works for you. Just think MEATS and GREENS… no bread, rice, or beer. You’re tolerance also lowers ALOT so you need less booze than you normally would so you save money as well. 😉

  • For such a smart guy he’s a idiot about ketosis. 75% fat is utter bullshit. I’m in ketosis 80% protein 20% fat for years now.

  • The keto diet helped me so much, my acne started clearing, I lost a few kgs and I finally am able to get out without being ashamed of my body and face. I still get breakouts but I have learned to accept my own face. My face was so horrible few months back,I couldn’t even smile. Really glad I found keto

  • I loved this video. I have been trying to understand the difference between the two and this was very helpful. Thanks for posting.

  • Hi Tim Ferriss I can’t find any video or google search where you talk about your low carb 4 hour diet actually helps cure fatty liver. Does it?

  • Everyone should just check out Brad’s Eat Stop Eat protocol. Don’t worry too much what you eat (just eat as clean as you can), and do 1 or 2 24hr fasts each week. It works!

  • Even if I eat a little meat for one day I get inflamation, low energy and feel like crap. I can’t imagine eating nothing but toxic meat. How do people do it? I feel much healthier eating healthy, natural fruits and vegs.

  • I don’t get why the Slow-Carb diet tells you to cut out cheese. Cheese contains virtually no carbs. It’s all protein and fat. And it doesn’t spike your insulin much.

Some people may have trouble with dairy, but that’s a whole other issue.

  • As far as to whether or not you had lymes disease, why didn’t you get a blood test? That’s what I did, and I’m glad I did ‘cause I tested positive.

Thanks for all the good information!

  • Nice presentation! Keto is a difficult long-term diet for sure. Very hard to exercise on a keto diet, especially if you are more of a “carbohydrate” metabolic type.

  • Been doing ‘intermittent keto’ for about a month I’ve lost much of the excess fat but also some muscle mass. Minimizing carbs is good, but I do miss fruits & other natural sources of energy.

  • As a T2 diabetic I went the keto route. In 2 months I dropped 30lbs lowered my A1C from 9.5 to 6.4 and my doctor took me off my Glipidize.

  • Such a great, underrated video, im speechless!! I didn’t survive on Keto(binged gained more weight) so after watching I see that paleo is better as its *Longterm lifestyle friendly

  • I alternate Paleo days (no dairy, lots of lovely, lovely fruit), with Keto days (goats milk yogurt with no sweet fruit (only avocado) or sweet veggies). With IF mixed in there to try to bring on or prolong the ketosis state for as long as possible. I’d find it hard to give up either fruit or the occasional yogurt. At least I’m not eating starches or processed foods.

  • I’ve been doing Keto now for over a month. Literally cheated today because of the leg cramp pains. I’m following my macros and I’m taking supplements. I feel like throwing the towel up:( any suggestions? Alsou can’t eat legumes on paleo, correct?

  • I’ve been doing the Paleo diet for about over 2 months now. I’ve lost about 7 or 8 pounds doing it. I think I’ll also try the keto diet and I might just switch back and forth. I’ve also made some paleo friendly pancakes. I one time did banana flavored. Yesterday, I made pumpkin flavored. You don’t need to use any flower for these. You just combine the banana or pumpkin base and spice in with scrambled eggs and use almond or coconut milk and mix it up. They still tase like pancakes. My paleo pumpkin pancakes tasted like pumpkin bread except I didn’t use any flower in it at all. I also heard that honey is healthier than maple syrup.

  • I’ve been doin keto for 3 weeks it’s good but not for me. Paleo seems best of the 2. You have to pay close attention to to many things and it can be overwhelming at times. Plus I’ve been getting back in the gym which will help loose the weight I need to.

  • I love the information I am currently on keto but I think when I get to my GW I will switch to paleo…will it affect my weight loss?

  • Basically is Paleo is beginner friendly does not allow diary. Keto is moderate level & allows diary. Atkins for advanced low carb lifestyle. Paleo is basically body for life bodybuilder diet that is high fat instead of low fat, additional cheat day, and not include Creatine. Body for life is basically the same as Paleo, but allows diary, low fat, one cheat day, and incorporate creatine.

  • This was great, I’ve been looking for “high carb cycling recipes” for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across Nantray Carb Caboodle (just google it )? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my mate got cool results with it.
