  • Im trying this. Im really afraid that I’ll gain a lot of weight from the leptin reset day as I have been doing keto for a month but today is that day. I had about 250g of net carbs and 1900kcal and am so full. I will no longer be doing keto as I have seen absolutely no results from it (I followed clean keto, eating about 1500calories a day, counted my macros, etc.). After today I will be going back to my regular diet (caloric deficit, healthy whole foods, lots of veggies fruits and protein). Then in a few days I will add alternate day fasting back into my diet.   • Question: doing keto. Decreasing fats by 25 percent makes your protein and carbs go up. Protein in grams is now higher than fat and my carbs are now at 30. Will I get back in ketosis?

  • So true. I did this by accident and lost the last 10lbs so fast. Had no idea what I was doing at the time. Always wondered why the fat just disappeared. The carb spike like he said really does work.

  • So basically just stop any type of working out for about a week, eat ‘normal’ but in controlled (clean carbs etc), and start dieting all over again. Got it.

  • I lost the last 10 pounds in a very unhealthy way: cut my calorie intake to 600 a day and ran 6-8 miles every night. Needless to say I could maintain that weight for a few short months before I gained everything back

  • I know this video has been for 10 months in the channel but I hope Thomas or someone can help me. I started this week with this program to lose my last 10 pound because I haven’t loose a gram fir a while even doing IF and keto. I wan not counting macros but I put in the app what I was eating before and it was about 1600 calories with good keto proportion of macros. I calculated 25% of the fat I was eating to decrease that amount but I am not sure if I have to increase the protein until I reach same calories I was eating or not.. This part is confusing because if I decrease the fat 25 percent but don’t increase carbs or protein, then I will be eating only like 1000 calories and I am afraid of getting my metabolism lazy and used of very few calories. Please heelppp!! How can I manage macros and calories for losing this last 10 pounds?

  • I started Keto January 3rd. I was 220 lbs. Fat on top of muscle. I dropped down to 192 lbs as of March 24th and everyone has noticed the significant weight loss.   • I lost the last (in my case) 15 pounds by doing a vegan challenge for one month.

    Never thought I would try vegan but didn’t change anything else and the fat literally just melted off my body. Didn’t need to lose much and didn’t lose any muscle either, so worked for me.

He agreed and then I invited one of my daughters to join us too. I’m so grateful they are following this diet with me because we support each other.   • Keep up the good work! I know how hard it is to start a channel on YouTube. I noticed you are using a smart scale for a number of metrics including body fat %. These types of tools are good proxies for tracking progress, however, to get a true number of body fat% you should check out DEXA scans-I believe Tim Ferriss recommends Body Pods in the book, however, they are much harder to find. Hope this helps!

  • Those are fantastic results! Good job! You succeeded in an area where I tend to struggle. My biggest struggle with following an eating plan is CRAVINGS! And that’s how they feel… Like they are yelling in my ear. It can be something as simple as seeing a commercial, or watching a movie or show and they are eating something that I then can’t stop thinking about. I’ve even been known to leave the house in my pajamas to go get something that I’m craving. Any tips or advice on these super strong cravings? Or how you were able to successfully beat your cravings?

  • I have been on the SCD for almost a year now. I used it to break a plateau that I hit losing weight counting calories (MyFitnessPal) I read the 4-Hour Body and found it to be a great way to lose the rest of the weight. I got to my goal weight, and have kept if off for almost a year. Good luck with your journey. You have made excellent progress in only a month. the SCD is a good way to get to and STAY at your goal weight, body fat % and visceral fat %. Good Luck!!

    It IS hard living with other people when you’re trying to better your health especially if their not on the same boat. i personally struggle with binge eating when it gets closer to my period days. i tend to crave a lot of sweets ( my weakness). i have been working on easing the craving but it gets hard sometimes. I guess saving all those cravings for cheat day will be something i’ll be working on (with caution of course).

I highly recommend that. Im still going strong here as well. My weekends are my biggest challenge as now that its summer there are just so many parties and events, but that being said Im just going to try and do my best with that.   • When doing the cheat day, you said you went less crazy as time went on. I.e eating less on your cheat days. What were the biggest differences you noticed after the novelty had worn off? Did this effect your desire to cheat during the week?

  • I think the biggest challenge I’m facing is figuring out new and creative ways to use ingredients like black beans and lentils…in non-repetitive ways. I can do the meal prep for lunch and be fine eating the same thing everyday, it’s when we hit dinner and the rest of the fam is around that I start to hit hurdles! What else are you eating in the legume category?

  • Solid video and congratulations on the 30 day challenge. I’d say the biggest challenge is meal variety and not everyone in my household is on the same journey. Having to make a slow carb dinner when someone already made dinner is tough.

  • Lean and mean. Way to go my man!! So happy for you. 21 pounds… either way that’s a real significant and healthy weight loss for one month. I’ve not been able YET to significantly drop my fat percentage as much as I’d like. But some things we just have to keep working at!

    the kettlebell swings are extremely efficient. Just wanted to mention that if you are on the Kettlebell track, consider looking into Tabata Interval training via high-intensity interval workouts 4 minutes 8 sets of (20 seconds work 10 seconds rest.

    I hope you are proud of yourself because I know as organized and simple as you make the program seem, it does take a lot of sticking to it and one “getting it together” 😉 plus you look and sound healthy.

  • The biggest challenge for me is that I travel for work a week at a time and it’s difficult to find time to cook my slow carb compliant meals. Love all your updates on the slow carb diet. I’ve been doing it for about 3-4 weeks now and look forward to your videos!

  • Hey Thomas I was wondering if I should lose a certain amount of weight according to my BMI. I am now 175 lb I’ve lost 25 pounds. I am a teen and my goal is to to become 160 pounds. However, my BMI says I should be around 140-160. So what I’m wondering is do u think it would be ok for me to lose enough weight to the point that I reach 150. After I reach my desired weight I want to start to build muscle so I’m not saying I’m going to gain 15 pounds of muscle but I don’t want the scale to say 175 even if the muscle is dense and my body percentage is lower. Also thanks for the advice in the video I can’t wait to start lifting weights since I have only been doing cardio for the past 3 months

  • I lost 51 pounds on Keto. I am now at 170 so a good weight and look great. I still want to lose 10 more pounds but really since March I have been stuck at 170. I go to 171 then 172 next day, day after that I go to 170 then back to 171, 172. Its crazy and I am very careful of what I eat. Just egg whites in the AM and a protein with a salad at night. Ride my bike for 10 miles a day and was going to the gym before Covid. Snacks are almonds and organic cheese. Really confused!

  • What if I’m already intermittent fasting 12-8, I’m 6’2″ 285 I’m at 1800 calories, my protein is around 110 fats 140. I’ve lost around 20lbs but now 2 weeks no weight loss. I sleep 8 hours no stress. The exercise is my only issue. Most gyms are closed and I don’t live in a ok to walk around neighborhood. Can anyone give me advice or pointers. I don’t do processed all home cooked, except the cheese of course. I test daily and my ketones are high to moderate every day

  • I went from a size 16 to a size 8. I lost 45 (very slowly) it took a year! Then after being stalked for over months I had a very few cheat days from SeptemberDecember and started having drinks with my husband on the weekends. I rapidly gained 20 lbs Back!!! What’s odd is.. my clothes still fit the same. Maybe a couple of pairs of pants are a little tighter. Do back to strict keto I went in December. Nothing has changed! It’s now May. I’ve tried everything.. exercising.. not exercising… macro tracking.. forgetting macros and eating when I’m hungry.. keytones for 40 days (no change)… the scale is not moving… my size is not moving… I’m desperate and will try anything.. I don’t want to leave keto but I’m 10 lbs heavier than I was last year and I want this weight off. Thank lease let me know if you can think of anything to help me.

  • She is right when I started the keto diet I weighed 230 pounds im down to 220 on my first week. On that week going to week 2 im been doing weights a lot, i feel energized my abs are starting to show i just feel great overall but I weighed my self the second week im 218 pounds. Felt a little discouraged but like she says im going to throw that out of the window because i feel amazing, i feel strong and my body starting to show muscle all while im still in ketosis.   • I’ve been on keto (been on it many times before) since the beginning of the month. Doing intermittent fasting as well. So I should only drink black coffee during the fast? I usually add 2tbsp of half and half but that might be breaking my fast?
    I have to cook for my family so I have to eat when they eat but I try to keep in an 8hour window but I should also cut the “sugar free” snacks and heavy cream, but could I have them like once a week or something? I feel it’s hard to cook two meals when I have to make dinner for my family (I also don’t have time to meal prep just for me because of my family). Idk I just want to lose weight ahh

  • I’ve been doing for about 2 full months now. The first 2 weeks I lost weight about a total of 10 pounds. But after that I have been at a stall for about 5-6 weeks and it’s been so frustrating. I feel better but the scale does not move. I do intermittent fasting and watch my carb intake. I usually eat 2-3 meals a days and maybe 1 snack. I don’t know why the scale won’t budge and it’s becoming really frustrating.   • Only in moderation. That’s all. Carbs are not bad for you and they’re not our enemy. Have that oatmeal and toast for breakfast. A burger with buns isnt going to make you gain weight. Enjoy it, but in moderation. Work out in the end. You wont gain weight.

  • I am a long time Keto user (2 years), lost about 70 pounds coming from a bodyweight of 286 pounds, which was extreme overweight of course. Yes the weightloss changed my life, but I am still about 40 pounds away of my personal ideal, healthy weight
    Since half a year theres the Plateau. I´ve changed nothing in my diet, it just suddenly stopped.

  • Add intermittent fasting. Sometimes even sucking it and doing a 24 hour fast will kick you into high gear.

  • I can not trust the scale. Throw it out…unless you are also having body composition done. I know if I’m losing/gaining from how clothing fits. I’m 5’2″ and I’ve been 98lbs but skinny fat with around 22%body fat,, and I’ve been 120lbs and had 11% body fat (for a female that is hard to achieve). It is also very easy to over eat/go over board with calories on keto, especially if you are mentally use to eating large volumes of food. What I mean by this is, fats are calorically more dense per weight then other macros: per gram Protein contains 4 calories, carbohydrates contain 4 calories, and fats contain 9 calories. 2 TBS of natural peanutbutter has around 190 calories, as opposed to 2 medium bananas having the same calories approximately. Two swipes of the PB jar and you’re there… And no one stops at 2 unless it’s portioned out. I suggest portioning foods like nuts, seeds, cheese, creams, dairy etc as soon as you get home. Dollar Tree has small containers come in packs of 10 that hold 1/4 cup,. Serving generally of nuts. Also, get a food scale to measure your food, all your food. Track your food with an AP like Lose It, where you can set your daily gosls, and enter in your food BEFORE you eat it. You can plot out the entire day of eating before you eat. That way you already know where your macros are at. Hope that these pointers on top of Ashley’s help out

    I’ve been doing keto for about three weeks. But I’ve only lost about 4 pounds the first two weeks, and nothing since. I usually eat 15 net carbs a day, about 1250 calories, 108f fat and about 60g protein. My keto mojo says my blood keatones are at about 1.2

    I feel great and love the diet overall, but I’m not sure why I’m not losing more weight? From my understanding, the initial part of the diet is when you loose the most, but I’m only at 4lbs three weeks in.

  • I stalled untill i removed heavy creem, creme fraiche, proccessed meat and all sweeteners from my diet, no energy drinks at all. Now things are legit happening. Most of you know what you are doing wrong when stalling or gaining on keto, so stop doing it. And no you cant eat lindemans 90% cacao chokolad on keto, sure if you are thin and want to just mentain, but not if you want to lose.

  • Been doing keto for 3 weeks and I haven’t lost any weight not 1 pound, i feel so much more energetic and I didn’t really went thru the keto flu so I am not sure if I doing this correctly, i test ketones with the strip and it is not a dark color but there is a color change, i haven’t lost inches either and I am doing IF and I am not sure what is wrong.
    I count macros and calories, I try not to obsess over this because I know I’ll get discouraged but it does frustrate me.

  • Ashley “calories in calories out” is largely complete BS and complete nonsense. Your body doesn’t know anything about calories BUT it does understand what foods activate which hormones!

    There’s a ton of different hormones that have effects on insulin and that is what matters.

  • I eat 3 meals per day. I’m 6’5″ and 255. My goal is 240. It’s taken me all year to lose 13 pounds. I typically eat less than 3000 cals a day. I some times drop to 2000. I train 6 days a week boxing, basketball, and weights 1.5-2 hrs a day. I’m not sure this diet is for everyone. It just won’t come off. I went to Vegas for a week and didn’t cheat once. I even dropped 1 of my meals and just had coffee to look better at the pool. I’ve never once been able to get in Ketosis.

  • I been on Keto for almost a year and i only lose 20 pounds. I’m been stuck at the same weight for 7 monts. I been trying new macro etc.. and i still cannot not lose weight:( Maybe my macro is not good, maybe i eat too much calorie or fat…:( How do i know if my macro are right…???

  • Hi Ashley can you do video for postpartum and keto diet. I want start Keto diet right after baby. I don’t want go back to coffee as I stoped in first trimester. Should I add butter and cream to my tea in the morning. Also you said eat breakfast late I think you said 12pm how should I do this while breastfeeding? Thanks hun

  • So true about the scale Ashley…I know I’m losing in the mid section because my shirts are getting looser & pulling workout pants up higher over my stomach. So yes, the scale is indeed sometimes the enemy!!!

  • I agree that intermittent fasting is key to breaking a stall. Also, a slow-down in weight loss is normal and does not mean you’re stalling. If it’s a small weight loss, that’s fine. This is a lifelong way of eating and not a speed race. I respectfully disagree that “calories matter”. See Dr. Ken D. Berry’s video about calories…he says calories are meaningless! Your body cannot store fat without insulin spikes. If you’re keeping carbs below 20 net grams and intermittent fasting, and do not eat more than 1 to 3 times per day (2 meals, 1 snack or less), you will continue to burn body fat for fuel. Dietary fat will not cause you to stall or gain weight. If you’re calorie restricting, you will lose weight, but you aren’t doing keto and you won’t be able to sustain that over your whole life. You’ll gain it all back!!! And then some!!!

  • Thanks Ashley, my name is Bri I’m 28, ve head littlw about keto then saw “the magic pill” on netflix one morning & that day started. Really ive been doing low carb but not strict. Its day 3 I feel nauseous but I’m pushing through. I have watched a lot of your videos & listen @ work to your videos. Trying to retain everything you talk about. I’m very interested in the punch drink not sure if I want all the caffiene I dont like a lot of caffiene on top of coffee unless its not overwhelming b or you think its super helpful. Well im very excited to see progress & keep going. You give me a lot of motivation. I’m turning my daughter onto this with me however slowly. I want to wean her on.

  • I haven’t plateaued but I have not lost at all! Been Keto and IF..for almost 1 year! What is going on?? I have lost.5 inches from my waist….but nothing is changing! I feel great but just not losing anything!!

  • I was on keto for two weeks and didn’t lose weight and I used the test strips to make sure i was in ketosis. Turns out i was extremely constipated and didn’t realize until it got really bad. Once I got that worked out the weight fell off

  • Thanks for the video. I am at this point currently, plateaued with weight after 5 weeks. I did a fat fast, but only lost 3.8 lbs the 3 days. I do intermitten fast too, 16/8. Can I ask did you take the exogenous ketones while breastfeeding? My daughter is 13 months old, she is pretty much on whole milk expect at night she will feed. Would it be ok for me to take exogenous ketones? I have been really wanting to try it once a day.

  • Hello on for 2 weeks only lost 1 lb is that normal.. I thought I would have lost at-least 5 lbs. I don’t want to get discouraged…..any ideas.?

  • I am on week 3 of my keto way of eating and the scale is going down but I don’t see a difference yet. I do feel hungry less for sure. I really only feel hungry in the morning. I can’t wait to see the loss. I have been enjoying your videos on keto. You helped with my cheese taco shell lol. Do you have a bbq sauce recommendation?

  • Great advice about the calories! Many great fat have a huge amount of calories so it really helps to keep an eye on it until you memorize macros. “Lose It” is a great app (not sponsored by Under Armour:) to track your foods for free. They have a huge foods list. Also about not watching the scale. I literally fell into the exact bad habits you were talking about when I have felt defeated and have been trying so hard and this is super encouraging!!! Thank you Ashley!!! Another great video:)
