What Really Happens To Your Body When You Go Gluten Free

These foods not only contain gluten but are typically also high in calories, sugar, and unhealthy fats. Many people say that they lose weight, feel less fatigued, and have less joint pain on a. However, just like the characters in this scene, most people really have no idea what gluten actually is, if it’s really bad for you, and why you should eat or not eat it: Jay: You have no idea what gluten is. Seth: Gluten is a vague term. It’s something that’s used to categorize things that are bad.

You know, calories, that’s a gluten. In people with celiac disease, gluten triggers an immune response that damages the lining of the small intestine. This can interfere with the absorption of nutrients from food, cause a host of symptoms, and lead to other problems like osteoporosis, infertility, nerve damage, and seizures.

Gluten has become a common buzzword in many healthcare forums and for good reason. Most of us can identify that eating a daily diet filled with pop, hotdogs and potato chips is likely not the. The answer is emphatically no. If you have bowel symptoms that you think are gluten-related, you should get checked for coeliac disease.

But wholegrains have B. No. It’s really a diet for peoplehave a health condition thatmakes gluten hurt their gutlike celiac disease. If that’s not you, then giving up foods with glutencould cause you to fall shorton. There is at least some truth to the idea that gluten can be harmful.

As mentioned, people with celiac disease avoid sickness and maintain much better health if they follow a gluten-free diet. For them, a gluten-free diet is nothing short of essential. And then there are.

The most famous problem with wheat is celiac disease, an autoimmune reaction provoked by gluten and treatable with a gluten-free diet. 30-40% of people have the genetic background to potentially develop celiac disease, but only about 1-3% of people actually do – it’s not clear why but it may have something to do with the gut microbiome. Gluten is a protein found in many grains, including wheat, rye and barley. It’s found in most breads, cereals, pastas and many processed foods, according to.

Gluten is controversial these days. Most sources claim that it is safe for everyone except those who have celiac disease. On the other hand, some health experts believe that gluten is harmful to.

Your symptoms may change — you may not even have any symptoms (or may not associate symptoms such as headaches and fatigue with gluten) — but if you had celiac disease at one time in your life, you have it forever and definitely need to be gluten-free for life.

It is true that a tiny fraction of the population—namely, persons with celiac disease—cannot eat wheat because they cannot tolerate its gluten protein content, and perhaps another 1 percent of the population is better off not eating wheat because of sensitivity to gluten or other proteins in wheat.

  • bread, grains, and sugar, are completely unnecessary for life. we arent cows lol it started long ago during food shortages to eat this garbage stuff

  • Going gluten free finally allowed me to conquer my chronic acne. Now that I am a gluten-free shopper, I suddenly realize just how prevalent it is in our food selection here in the states. Gotta cut out all this wheat, yo!

  • Been gluten free 2 years and i feel so much better, no more brain fog, anxiety, stomach pain or join inflammation. When I do happen to accidentally eat gluten, symptoms start up again. I love bread so I bake with gluten free flour when I want anything sweet.

  • To some (SOME) of you: maybe you are not gluten intolerant, you are glyphosate intolerant. Please, do your research! This thing is everywhere and symptoms are alike.

  • you ignorant “slot”! just give up life and leave people alone. gluten is the BEST part of cereal. it is the protein. without it, you just eat the starch.

  • Doc like I said on another video, great content, excellent illustrated and presented with solid facts based on research and explained spot on!

    Keep them coming, don’t stop!

P.S: I know this might be out of your scope of practice but what’s your opinion on lean gains aka building muscle while staying very lean.

    Thank you in advance!

  • First there is no such thing as leaky gut syndrome. It is not a condition. And i want to spit into the face of the person comparing it to heroin withdrawal.

  • Why not go GRAIN free and solve all grains problems in the body because all the vitamins in grains are found in non grain sources too:)

  • Going gluten free finally allowed me to conquer my chronic acne. Now that I am a gluten-free shopper, I suddenly realize just how prevalent it is in our food selection here in the states. Gotta cut out all this wheat, yo!

  • Suffered from severe gastrointestinal issues, migraines, rashes and joint paint for the last 8 years. Had a barrage of tests run and doctors had no answers. Decided to go on a Keto diet to lose weight, eliminated all gluten for the sake of the diet, and BAM! In just a few days, all symptoms disappeared. I’m not sure if I’m gluten-intolerant or not, but I do know my life has changed for the better now that I’ve stopped eating gluten and that’s all the proof I need.

  • I have started a low gluten diet.I eat oat,rice n semolina n lots of fruits n vegetables.I feel very light n energetic.nomore bloating,gas n constipation.

  • I have started a low gluten diet.I eat oat,rice n semolina n lots of fruits n vegetables.I feel very light n energetic.nomore bloating,gas n constipation.

  • I try to stay away from breads in general (pasta, cereals, etc) simply because A) processed foods are not healthy and B) while I don’t have celiac disease I do have hypothyroidism and gluten is very molecularly similar to the thyroid, which leads to the body attacking the thyroid like it does gluten….leading to thyroid problems. It’s too late for me to reverse it, but I stay away to prevent more damage.

Ladies, keep this in mind when you eat gluten containing breads/grains… it can lead to future thyroid disease AND it aggravates your intestines & joints (arthritis). Just not worth it.

The thyroid is VERY IMPORTANT; it’s not just hair and nails, it‘s involved in the optional functioning of the liver, gut motility, BMR, heart health and they are discovering a connection to diabetes (which I always suspected). Please Google for tons of info.
Here’s a great video that gets into more detail: https://youtu.be/M0La27FNrA4

  • I have had the major of these issues all my life. It’s been such a huge change since i recently found out. I’m slowly getting used to it. I’m just so glad to not have constant discomfort. I was call a hypochondriac for years. When in the end I just couldn’t process gluten. Don’t hesitate to get tested for it. It’ll help in the long run!

  • That FDA Food Pyramid was the worst disservice done to the human race. Read up on how it came about. It was politics and personal power, not science.

  • How much did you receive from the wheat industry for this video? I hope it was worth putting thousands of people health in danger and prevent them from better quality of life! You money thirsty people make me sick

  • Gluten intolerance does not mean Celiac. All Celiacs are gluten intolent, because they intolerant to all types of gluten. These types of gluten are wheat, rice, corn barley rye etc. However some people are only intolerant to wheat, but are not celiac. I am intolerant to wheat and corn but not other types. I was tested negative for Celiac. Everything mentioned in video ticks the boxes so I avoid gluten.

  • Prof Fasano provided a fascinating overview of the latest in Gluten research in his interview with Dr Hyman. For those who are interested in learning more, I’d highly recommend watching/listening to the full interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rTAhlJ9PMM

Here’s a direct link to the part of the interview where they discuss intestinal permeability: https://youtu.be/0rTAhlJ9PMM?t=2891

What do you think of Gluten? I’m interested to hear what you think!

  • you ignorant “slot”! just give up life and leave people alone. gluten is the BEST part of cereal. it is the protein. without it, you just eat the starch.

  • Used to make fun of gluten free proponents. Thought it was a fad. Turns out i have celiac disease after having tests done. Lol gluten free for a week now

  • I’d like to go gluten free, I’d also like to try a different kind of bread, like perhaps a bug blend, bug based bread sounds kinda tasty tbh, and a boost in protein sounds great, it wouldn’t b hard to adapt to a different tasting bread, perhaps tortillas

  • Gluten free seems stupid to me as a vegan of 9 years who bakes bread normally and hasn’t been sick since going vegan and am in the best shape of all my friends and I’m 29. I get doing it if you have Celiac’s disease but if you don’t it seems stupid. Cutting delicious homemade bread would just make me want to jump off a cliff lol.

  • This video was sponsored by someone in Kellog’s LOL. Foods from mainstream companies often have additives that are addictive. We all most stick to unprocessed foods, organic or free-range protein, and organically wroth vegetables.
Why? Because pesticide companies, oil companies, industrially produced food, and the like aren’t telling us that all these new arrays of diseases they sell us medication for are a byproduct of their business. Gluten can only be consumed when some grains are processed for human consumption, Having a little here and there is okay, but daily, several times a day is cutting our lie expectancy in half. As with animal protein, we are not supposed to eat that every day and in the amounts of the monstrous franchise sized plates Americans consume at big name franchises.

  • @kelsey armes  you said that the end result of Celiac disease can cause malnutrition. Yes, the United Nations reports that over 7.6 million people die annually throughout the world because of hunger and malnutrition or a malnutrition related cause. These people with genes that have a predisposition to Celiac disease would have died off 200 300 years ago due to issues related to malnutrition because of health problems related to eating bread with gluten. Ancient grain wheat and rye bread with gluten were the only food for 99% of the poor class in England back 300 years ago. Most people were in the poor class (aka, peasants) back 300 years ago in England. Their primary source of caloric daily intake were ancient wheat and rye bread with gluten. No pasta, no rice, no meat, no chicken, rarely fish, and some vegetable.            BTW, throughout England (and most of Europe) from 1600 to 1795, potatoes were regarded with suspicion, distaste and fear. Generally considered to be unfit for human consumption, they were used only as animal fodder. In northern Europe, potatoes were primarily grown in botanical gardens as an exotic novelty. Even peasants refused to eat from a plant that produced ugly, misshapen tubers and that had come from a heathen civilization. Some felt that the potato plant’s resemblance to plants in the nightshade family hinted that it was the creation of witches or devils.                         You’re very ignorant, or you’re a shill, which are you?                                            In countries that ban GMO and where Monsanto related seeds and Roundup (glyphosate based herbicide) are not used, there are no “genuine” indigenous cases of Celiac disease. The only cases of Celiac diseases are those people who immigrated to these GMO/Monsanto banning countries that came from GMO/Monsanto seeds using countries.  Go ahead and eat all the GMO/Monsanto/Roundup related food you want. I read that Monsanto has started losing multi-million dollar court cases recently connecting their products to people getting cancer.

  • well crap. That hits on every single separate diagnosis that I have. I just crashed hard after eating a bowl of chicken soup and landed on this video in my research to figure out why. Explains a lot.

  • It is in simple basic terms called STAY AWAY FROM PROCESSED FOODS containing wheat and wheat products. “GLUTIN” I am 55 years old when I was a kid going to elementary school a young girl I knew had Psoriasis extremely bad and she went to a dermatologist who informed her to stay away from wheat her mom did exactly what her Dermatologist suggested and her symptoms went away after a few weeks of not having GLUTIN in her diet.  It is amazing what affect something like that can have on a person.  Grains can do a number on people better to avoid them really. But if you don’t know these things it can make your life a living HELL!  Best foods to stick to so you don’t have inflammation associated problems is basic fruits, vegetables and meat.  Cut the junk out of your diet. Its  making people seriously ill and killing them.  Not worth the suffering.

  • WRONG. You got almost nothing right. You can easily get all the nutrients you need from other foods. Who’s iron and folate deficient on a gluten free diet that isn’t eating a junk food or poor overall limited diet? If you’re concerned about rice, DONT EAT IT. Nothing mandates that you eat rice on a gluten free diet and it’s better you actually don’t often because of the sky high glycemic index. Did you really fact check anything before you came on camera and flapped your lips?

  • I have allergies to gluten and other many things. I feel much better once I found out I had food allergies. I am totally gluten free and I suffer with IBS so I do juicing and I eat a lot of veggies. I stay away from junk food. I workout and eat healthy 3 days a week. Gluten free has so many healthy options too. So people don’t freak out. I am allergic to rice so I try to get stuff made with potatoes and tapioca for my self when getting gluten free products.it’s s life style even with food allergies.

  • Imagine that. not eating something that has been a staple of our species diet for tens of thousands of years is bad.

If you are a celiac, you are genetically defective, not trendy.

  • Thank you for this video, I heard about zonulin and gluten induced leaky gut syndrome but didnt considered that it might be benefitial. Great video, hope to see more!

  • For those in Canada seeing this, the food law here is that gluten free options MUST have the same amount of vitamin fortification as their non gluten free counterparts. This vid says gluten free options aren’t fortified so you can get deficiencies but the prepackaged foods here, like cereals, cookies and pasta, have equal amounts gluten free or not.

  • I have UC, not sure if gluten is really the cause since it seems my that my family has a history of it after recoverig from another illness. In my case food posinning that required hospoilization when I was in my mid 20’s fast forward 2 years and I was in the emergency room needing blood for UC bleeding

  • I have Celiac disease. Finally got diagnosed this past February at age 27. I had to get blood work for my IGA, an upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy to confirm this. I was misdiagnosed for 10 years with “IBS” and “GERD” and left untreated ugh.

  • In the UK, I could always getting Sainsbury’s free from gluten products for only a bit pricier than the gluten stuff. I can’t find affordable free from gluten products in the US. The US treats this like a healthy lifestyle choice rather than a health issue. The price tags reflect it.

  • I’m someone with gluten sensitivity! This is really interesting to watch. I’ve always had problems with food allergies they come and go. Sometimes I can eat stuff and sometimes I can’t but oh boy I had symptoms from the gluten sensitivity where I’d get paranoid and full on hallucinate it was absolutely terrifying.

  • Pretty sure I’ve got all except bad teeth and ADHD. I’ve been tested for lactose intolerance but it was negative. But maybe it’s bc I’m actually gluten intolerant.

  • Sorry but when you’re an American and can go into debt just for visiting the ER, we tend to self diagnose. I didn’t need to go thousands into medical debt for testing a sensitivity that you can easily figure out by simply eliminating it from your diet. If you feel better, problem solved. If you still feel like shit, problem not solved. Really doesn’t take a genius. But hey, whatever fills the doctors pockets and drains mine eh?

  • I had so much stomach troubles, every day pain, bloating, etc. Doctor said no gluten, then said eat whatever. After using my brain to find a solution, I went gluten free a couple months ago. I feel better. No stomach ache for an entire month! I feel like my insides are finally working right, and it’s incredible.

  • So I have MTHFR C677T which means I can’t have dairy or gluten. I even cut out non organic meat because the chemicals and gmos in normal meat started to make me sick. I found out I had these intolerances by finally going to a gastroenterologist in 2016 after suffering for 22 years. Definitely wish I would of went sooner! Thankfully nowadays there are plenty of amazing substitutes for gluten and dairy!

  • my doctor is so stupid, he does not even know what gluten or celiac disease is, go figure. He works in Burbank ca, at st joseph hospital. warning,

  • What seems to be a fad for some is a necessity for me. I ‘ve had Celiac Sprue since 1990 and trust me if I didn’t have to worry about being gluten free and wouldn’t go there. Back in the 90’s finding ANYTHING gluten free u had to bake it yourself or if u did find it was very expensive. Nowadays everything has gluten hidden in it, and the longer you have sprue the more u know what to look for when shopping.

  • I’ve gone gluten free and dairy free due to my endometriosis, unfortunately there is only small studies but it’s meant to help the chronic pain! Im only 3 days in so i can’t say a whole lot but i do have more energy but ive also gotten a bit light headed…i probably shouldnt of cut it all out straight away i hope it works because I’d love to go off my meds!

  • This video is garbage. I never eat grain products, I’m on a low carb high healthy fat diet, and I have never been healthier. Cutting gluten alone is not enough. All grains are inflammatory and nobody needs grains to stay healthy.

  • Omg…I’m 29 and I’m just learning I’m sensitive to gluten!! Holy shiiiiiiit. My mind is blown I thought I was just unlucky to have all these problems!!

  • I had a gluten intolerance at a very early age. It’s a good thing all precautions were taken seriously and early, otherwise I would have been seriously hurt.

  • You can get those micro nutrients from other sources. Even if you aren’t medically forced to be gluten free, gluten laden products can still have an effect on your gut health.

  • Some people are asymptomactic. I have zero issues with people who want to stop eating grains even if they don’t have celiac disease. To take it a step further… carbs are not even necessary.

  • I’ve stayed away from Gluten products for a month now and lost 13 lbs. However, I started buying gluten free products and as the video states, gluten free doesn’t mean sugar or fat free. The best way to go “Gluten free” is to just stay away from foods all together that have to even be made gluten free. Salads, fruit, soups, vegetables, white meats…all these things are the best for the body. Eating a diet that consists of only these things keeps you away from Gluten and is much easier on the digestive system and gives you far more nutrition and healthy hydration. I’ve also been taking fish oil and probiotics and I feel so much better and rarely if ever get inflammation anymore. Think about what you’re putting in your body people.

  • I am gluten free when i was younger i was not eating gluten free stuff and i was so poorley so my mum and my dad took me to the docters and they said i was gluten free i hate it

  • Oh please…no one will starve because they don’t eat bread! There are other plant foods out there a person can consume and still be healthy without eating bread!

  • I brought back into my life, trying to lose weight. Ezekiel Bread 4 slices buttered with grass fed Irish butter. I was losing weight before I started the bread. Weight loss stopped and I started to have more inflammation and pain in my body. Going to eliminate it, see what happens. https://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/07/05/other-nonwheat-grains-can-also-hurt-your-health.aspx

  • Gluten bloats me like a puffer fish and sometimes so painful
We eat boiled dumplings here in Jamaica and eating just one makes me sick and it gives me this depressing feeling, I’m realizing these things since recently anything with flour always ticks me off, sometimes even looking at anything flour based turns me off like my body is rejecting it

  • I’ve read/heard that farmers will use various types of methods such as weed killers to help the harvesting process. The end goal is to be able to process everything at the same time.

    1) is this true
    2) beyond the modification of our wheat, could this also present health risks?

  • I cut out all gluten products only 1 week ago… (including a lot of sauces and stuff, a lot of Asian dish sauces have wheat in them)….and so far i’ve noticed my bloating has gone WAY down and my energy levels have gone WAY up. I used to think it was normal being tired all the time and taking a nap every day…..now I dont think its normal! I’m excited to see what another few weeks does for me. If I continue to feel better and better then I will permanently cut it out.

  • Had IBS most of my life off gluten for 9 months and now symptom free tested negative for Celiacs??? Changed my life for the better

  • Recently switched to a gluten free diet. Surprisingly, there’s a large selection of Gluten Free foods available at Target. Can fill a whole shopping cart. Really easy switch.

  • What annoys me is that everyone that talks about gluten free diets refer to celiacs ONLY!
People with auto immune diseases such as Hashimotos and also Addison’s disease are also gluten free like myself. I don’t eat processed foods and eat a mostly keto diet which works well for me and others. I eat a well balanced diet and dont miss how gluten made me feel.

  • Gluten is linked to mental illness. They have known since the 60s that gluten makes schizophrenia, Bipolar, anxiety + depression worse.

    Google it.

  • Fantastic video!!! I also teach my clients to stay away from “Gluten.” There are many foods that the average person eats that are just not meant to be inside our bodies. We are being conditioned by the food industry what to eat, for their profits! Meanwhile, the hospitals are overflowing with ill health individuals which makes the medical machine happy. “It is Time to Wake Up”!

  • I have found this channel to have some thoughtful and fair content. But this video is a big disappointment. The entire thing is based on the ideas of a single scientist. It is entirely supportive of the pop pseudo-science of “gluten sensitivity,” and there is no fair presentation of differing viewpoints.

  • I brought back into my life, trying to lose weight. Ezekiel Bread 4 slices buttered with grass fed Irish butter. I was losing weight before I started the bread. • Where’s the BLOODY tech.. now its just gettting on my nerves.. the other day u were on about body shapes.. now GLUTEN FREE DIET..

U might just call yourself “nothing to do with tech insider” AHHHHHHH

  • I have a gluten detection service dog. He has found traces of gluten in foods labeled gluten free and even odd things like toilet paper and shampoos. I’m a highly sensitive celiac and can not even touch gluten.

  • i honeslty don’t know if i’m gluten intolerant. my whole whole i was fine with gluten but when i turned 16 started to have excess gas in my stomach and sometimes to the point where it hurts. also, a couple minutes after i ate a bunch of rice, my stomach became really hard?!!! it’s having me worried. but if i tell my parents they wouldn’t understand what gluten free means!

  • 1.5 year without bread, pasta, ris and sugar. I have more energy that is stable throw the day, no mor being tired after lunch or sleepy. No more headache, I hade tjat everyday. Plus I lost 18kg

  • Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease where your body physically can not handle gluten, and over time can lead to much worse if not addressed. Intolerance is just a bad reaction, it won’t kill you but it will make you uncomfortable. Many people will celiac disease don’t even have showing symptoms. The only way to know if you actually have the disease is to get an endoscopy/biopsy.

  • I don’t have many gluten free options where I live. We don’t have gluten free options in fast foods and such. Therefore, I end up eating healthier having Celiac disease than before. Because most of the things I used to eat that weren’t healthy, have gluten. I eat less chocolate or chips, less oily food

  • “Sponsored Content” is all that made me hit pause before even going past 5 seconds. “…eliminating gluten from your diet can cause nutritional deficiencies.” People who believe that are ignorant and need to educate themselves. Search up leaky gut, zonulin, villi, malabsorption, etc. I only eliminated gluten and made no other changes and I feel a huge difference. It’s nice to wake up without a headache and sinuses.

  • Unless you have celiac disease or are intolerant to gluten WHY cut it out. My gluten intolerance was confirmed by blood test results last week. It’s not a lifestyle choice it’s nothing to do with calories i have to go gluten free because if i don’t i won’t get better. It’s like me saying right I’m going to avoid consuming dairy products when im perfectly fine with dairy and lactose. That’s my opinion

  • Thank you for this video, I heard about zonulin and gluten induced leaky gut syndrome but didnt considered that it might be benefitial. Great video, hope to see more!

  • My Migraines stopped when I realized I was gluten intolerant
Painful headaches after suffering for years
    No doctor could help me
I am glad I know the cause

  • Check. Check. Check. Check………
For me especially when I have bread that is very elastic in its structure. Like NY style pizza dough…. I will sleep for 2 days if I have more than a slice. Itchy palms that are actually red like I’ve slapped them on something…. chronic fatigue. Bottoms of my feet uncontrollably itchy…:ADHD; I swell up / water weight of 5-10 lbs after… started happening in my mid 30s.

  • The title is incredibly misleading. They didn’t mention anything that would make you think you should be careful about avoiding gluten in any case

  • Where’s the BLOODY tech.. now its just gettting on my nerves.. the other day u were on about body shapes.. now GLUTEN FREE DIET..

U might just call yourself “nothing to do with tech insider” AHHHHHHH

  • I don’t have celiac or intolerance and I removed gluten and dairy. I lost 30 pounds and had a full blood check. I don’t have a single deficiency and my cholesterol is excellent. Before I went gluten free my cholesterol was bad and I was borderline diabetic. Now I am 100 times more healthy and my leg that hurt for a year and my joints in my hand that swelled up and hurt so bad it would wake me in the night are completely better. I also have more energy and look much better. Why do nutritionists keep trying to tell people that gluten is ok? Are they being paid by the bread industry to lie? Again, I don’t have celiac or sensitivity. It has already been proven that this is not just a fad and people are so sure going gluten free is the only way to go that they pay much more for gluten free food. The general public is waking up.

  • Did you know that every thing give you cancer.
If your family DNA had you mostly have cancer already.
If you sit in your ass watch YouTube every day you could get cancer.
Mostly likely you getting cancer no matter what you do near future.

  • I don’t have many gluten free options where I live. We don’t have gluten free options in fast foods and such. Therefore, I end up eating healthier having Celiac disease than before. Because most of the things I used to eat that weren’t healthy, have gluten. I eat less chocolate or chips, less oily food

  • There are two types of people that don’t eat gluten. People with Celiac disease and idiots.

It is very likely that eliminating gluten from your diet might lead to weight loss but only because gluten is in wheat and wheat also has lots of carbs so eliminating gluten could lead to a huge drop in carb consumption.

  • Gluten free diet is only beneficial for someone (with or without gluten intolerance) only when it is substituted with adequate fruits and veggies. This video lacks substantial research and is misleading. Gluten is responsible for gut inflammation which is related to a whole lot of chronic diseases including diabetes, arthritis, neurodegenerative disease etc.

  • This video is dumb. Most ppl have no reaction to the gluten in bread. It’s just another carb source like rice or potatoes. Ppl in Europe have been eating all kinds of bread including white bread for a very long time and many of them are much healthier than Americans. Stop spreading nonsense.

  • I have celiac disease and I had a lot of these before I found out, now if I eat gluten I end up in the er. It bothered me when he said gluten intolerance aka celiac. These are NOT THE SAME AT ALL. Gluten literally breaks my intestines down and before I found out I have celiac I had to go to the er 3 times due to really bad stomach pain

  • Have bad ulcer due to not knowing this was the culprit. I had all these and yes at one time was told I had IBS. Have gone gluten free and starting to feel better physically and mentally. Wheat and it’s close relatives should be banned because as I have discovered there is zero need for gluten. Medical community should be pushing harder because this is making almost everyone sick.

  • According to this channel, anything but meat is harmful in one way or another for your health.

I’m starting to wonder he’s just a delicate stomach who tries to convince everybody about how healthy his nerd diet is.

  • Your videos are really informative and helpful. Thank you.

In one of your videos, you had indicated that High LDL is only worrisome if accompanied by low HDL levels. Could you do a video on how to improve HDL levels?

  • I feel like I’ve hit rock hard after eating anything with gluten, sometimes for days I feel puffy, fatigued and just terrible, had no idea something I eat could make me feel this way

  • I lost 30kgs on a gluten free diet. Now so much as a slice of bread, and the next day I feel like I’m wearing a diving suit, with clearly bloated skin all over my body. It sucks, but there are worst things in life.

  • I have found this channel to have some thoughtful and fair content. But this video is a big disappointment. The entire thing is based on the ideas of a single scientist. It is entirely supportive of the pop pseudo-science of “gluten sensitivity,” and there is no fair presentation of differing viewpoints.

  • I lost 30kgs on a gluten free diet. Now so much as a slice of bread, and the next day I feel like I’m wearing a diving suit, with clearly bloated skin all over my body. It sucks, but there are worst things in life.

  • I have the itchy rash (severe), headaches, concentration problems menstrual problems and generally feeling crap after eating bread. (or a thing else made from cereals) I think I’m gluten intolerant but my doctor is old fashioned type and thinks I’m overreacting I forgot to say I’m also anemic on a regular basis and have thin breakable nails

  • I have UC, not sure if gluten is really the cause since it seems my that my family has a history of it after recoverig from another illness. In my case food posinning that required hospoilization when I was in my mid 20’s fast forward 2 years and I was in the emergency room needing blood for UC bleeding

  • bread, grains, and sugar, are completely unnecessary for life. we arent cows lol it started long ago during food shortages to eat this garbage stuff

  • I desperately want nutrition science to tell me useful things. I find it very hard to know when it is actually doing so.

I am very skeptical of the main thesis of this video.

While I think it is true that many people see improved health from going gluten free, it is very difficult to establish causation.

It is certainly true that many people who continue to eat gluten and are doing fine.

In this video, it is suggested that, if you have any of several conditions you might as well try going gluten free for a couple of weeks. “The worst thing that will happen is that you might lose a few pounds.”

The video also mentions that gluten is in many, many things (ketchup, lipstick). That means that “going gluten free for two weeks”, actually means that you will have to pay careful, close attention to everything you eat, and it will almost certainly result in you eating less highly processed foods in general.

I strongly suspect that many of the people who benefit from going gluten free, would see very similar results from paying careful, close attention to everything they eat and generally eating less highly processed foods but not specifically cutting out all gluten.

  • I was told last year I am gluten intolerant had 7/9 signs from the video. Did not have adhd or bad teeth.. I am allergic to dairy protein too and have ibs c. My worst allergy is soya. I have scalp psoriasis, dermatitis which used to be really bad but now you cannot tell I have it. I have bad circulation, back and spine issues, asthma, shpulder issues get migraines. I was told I could be coeliac but hard for it to be diagnosed even with a blood test at times. I know people and it took years before they were diagnosed coeliac.
I was told to go back on gluten for six weeks eat gluten products twice a day even just two slices of bread. After one day I got so bad with pain I wanted to rip my stomach out, crying over the pain, rash, and the got migraine, then super tired rang Dr and was told to stop eating gluten not worth it. I was put down as gluten intolerant.

  • “Follow your stomach” That is the best advice ever for anyone. -Isn’t it funny how everyone wants to “Eat healthy” by listening to “experts” or marketers? Yet they NEVER once consult the best doctor on the planet their own bodies? Seriously. Nobody is even partially aware of what the heck they are feeling… If there WERE then they would know EXACTY what to eat, and arrive at the perfect diet…just to get you thinking in the PROPER direction….(the perfect diet is one that allows you never ever to become sick… start with cold and flu and the 100 common symptomsyour food choices either turn on or turn off each and every single one of them…

  • World get ready for the future trend, gluten lovers! Same people is gluten free now by trend will buy gluten tablets in few years, remember me by then!

  • I tried going gluten free for my Hashimotos (thyroid) disease… it went down 5 points (almost 50%) in 3 months. And my gluten sensitivity tests always come negative. The science really needs to catch up on this, as do our food habits

  • Gluten Free became a trendy diet since Novak Djokovic said it helped him finally win majors in Tennis. He may… or may not have a disease. Could just be a mental thing since he struggled for a while to win a major (weird that before his “diagnosis” he made finals with Celiac’s). Been telling mates for years, gluten isn’t bad at all, unless you have an actual disease that makes you allergic to it.

  • In the UK, I could always getting Sainsbury’s free from gluten products for only a bit pricier than the gluten stuff. I can’t find affordable free from gluten products in the US. The US treats this like a healthy lifestyle choice rather than a health issue. The price tags reflect it.

  • Very interesting. It is a strange trend. As it is said: Gluten-free diets are NOT healthy and should be avoided unless you are diagnosed with celiac disease. Shops in all of the western world are making fortunes on this and on people believing in anything they read online without asking questions. Sad.

  • Alot of people do gluten free because they think they are going to lose weight or because they think it’s gonna cure what ever they have. It’s more of a trend than any thing.

  • My Migraines stopped when I realized I was gluten intolerant
Painful headaches after suffering for years
    No doctor could help me
I am glad I know the cause

  • WOW! Such a clear, well-presented and deeply documented video! I always had a hard time figuring out what gluten was and how we absorbed it in out body!

I rarely, if ever, comment in the comment section but this one really deserved it 1000%! Incredible job!

  • Some people are asymptomactic. I have zero issues with people who want to stop eating grains even if they don’t have celiac disease. To take it a step further… carbs are not even necessary.

  • I’m actually struggling to 100% cut out gluten

I’ve stopped eating the major sources of gluten, but I still find it in some spices. I find myself being concerned that it will be that gluten that will cause a reaction from my body.

  • First there is no such thing as leaky gut syndrome. It is not a condition. And i want to spit into the face of the person comparing it to heroin withdrawal.

  • does anyone else watch these with a gluten intolerance just to see if what he’s saying is true? cos already I know I’m not a celiac but I am intolerant so he’s not doing well so far

  • Gluten free diet was suggested by my ayurvedic doctor for my auto immune and I have improved from wrecked to doing great in 6months. Back to life

  • i don’t understand how some people can say gluten is harmless. just because you don’t have issues with it doesn’t mean others don’t. i mean there’s actually a whole disease for it. celiac)

  • The title is incredibly misleading. They didn’t mention anything that would make you think you should be careful about avoiding gluten in any case

  • You can get vitamins through unprocessed foods, and if you have an issue with gluten you can eat as healthy as you like, you won’t absorb the vitamins you need and risk issues like macular degeneration.

  • i feel like this is misleading. it seems obvious that eating gluten-free processed alternatives doesn’t have any health benefits, unless you have celiac disease. many of us who choose a gluten-free diet do so because we want to eat raw, whole foods as opposed to packaged food marketed as gf.

  • my doctor is so stupid, he does not even know what gluten or celiac disease is, go figure. He works in Burbank ca, at st joseph hospital. warning,

  • 2:28 THANK YOU W.I.L. GUY!!!! I am an amateur bodybuilder and I cut out gluten (and dairy, intolerant) like that tennis player and my always much weaker left arm has massively caught up with the right one!!!! What exactly about gluten causes this?? Chronic inflammation is my best guess.

  • I was about to eat 2 slices of wheat bread but I am still curious if this would be beneficial. I’ve watched 3 videos about it and one thing is common:

DO NOT EAT YOU WHAT WERE ABOUT TO EAT.

  • Thank God for the internet, I don’t remember the last time I was so comfortable in my body! It just sucks that i can’t just grab a cheap snack off the shelves and have to check ingredients and barcodes all the time now. Worth it though!

  • World get ready for the future trend, gluten lovers! Same people is gluten free now by trend will buy gluten tablets in few years, remember me by then!

  • I’ve read/heard that farmers will use various types of methods such as weed killers to help the harvesting process. The end goal is to be able to process everything at the same time.

    1) is this true
    2) beyond the modification of our wheat, could this also present health risks?

  • Alot of people do gluten free because they think they are going to lose weight or because they think it’s gonna cure what ever they have. It’s more of a trend than any thing.

  • Well I checked my skin and I had those rashes for awhile (I’m a woman) like I didn’t realize it
so about a year ago I am on keto diet for weight loss I was 250 pounds and now I’m 190 pounds also I have epilepsy but I need a real test if this has to do with gluten also is it ok to ask my nerologyst about it if it really causes my rashes?also if anyone ask my age I’m 20 years old

  • I have PCOS with insulin resistance and anxiety, depression, and gluten always aggravated my water retention, bloating, inflammation and mood swings. I am now following a gluten free, dairy free, low carb diet, to manage my chronic conditions. It’s not easy but it’s worth it.

  • I legit was diagnosed with celiac disease (autoimmune disease making you highly allergic to gluten) eight years ago what am I doing here?

  • Yeah guys don’t go on a gluten free diet because it’s popular… I’m talking about people who have no issue with gluten. THE GLUTEN FREE DIET SHOULD STOP BEING ROMANTICIZED! As a celiac, I can tell you that it doesn’t make you loose weight. At blaze pizza, you will notice that the gluten free crust literally has more calories than the normal crust. It’s so freaking annoying when people want to go gluten free for no reason! Yes, it has helped produce more gluten free foods, but it also ruins things for people with gluten free diets! I almost became very ill at a bakery, thank god I checked if they actually washed the pans correctly before making “gluten free brownies”.

  • WOW! Such a clear, well-presented and deeply documented video! I always had a hard time figuring out what gluten was and how we absorbed it in out body!

  • All he said was don’t eat too much rice, not that gluten is good for you. Find a replacement for whole grains, you’ll be better off. Many people are sensitive to gluten, because only the civilizations that started with exposure to wheat have had time to grow a 100% immunity to it

  • Beware of some of the advice given here by nutritionists with fake credentials, such as a CNC. A “Certified Nutritional Consultant (CNC)” is a credential given to persons who take an open-book test and some on-line courses. All is required is a high school GED…..“The CNC credential should be regarded as bogus.“ Steven Barrett, MD.

  • This video lost all credibility with me. Going gluten free means I’m not getting the key nutrients I need that are found in things like Lucky Charms? My whole body goes haywire when I eat gluten. I can barely use my hands because of the inflammation. Gluten free is not a fad or a fashion diet. And the blonde with braids was not slick. I saw that.

  • If you want a leaky gut and dementia, schizophrenia, autism, Osteoarthritis, Bi polar, depression skin and teeth problems, acne. Keep eating wheat,Its just a matter of time till your brain and gut start failing. Wheat is poison. Collagen helps.

  • I think there’s so much junk in our food that it becomes really hard to conduct research about it. How do we know it’s not the various chemicals used as herbicides or to kill bugs that are intoxicating us? We’ve come to the point that everything is so contaminated that removing anything from your diet will benefit you! Great video by the way

  • I found out last summer that I had celiac disease, and it was really bad. The average number on the test if you have celiac is around 20, but I was at 250. It was hard changing my diet, but after a while, I’ve found that it’s not that bad. Gluten free things can be really good.

  • You can get vitamins through unprocessed foods, and if you have an issue with gluten you can eat as healthy as you like, you won’t absorb the vitamins you need and risk issues like macular degeneration.

  • Oats are whole grains and gluten free if not processed with the same machinery as wheat. Also, what the heck do you mean by “same stuff”? There are so many foods that don’t contain gluten that provide ALL of your dietary needs.

  • Celiac disease is so diffrent from gluten intalerent celiac is a disease if you keep earing gluten you get pollups in your stomach it can even rip open

  • don’t just do what u read, and this is for both sides. Just check what works on your body, do u feel better with bread? or do u have pains all over ur body, feel slouchy etc, that go away when u do not eat gluten? theres ur answer right there

  • So: a nutrition-uninformed approach to GF diet is worse than gluten-intensive diet because of possibly missing all the nutrients artificially incorporated into processed foods based around gluten-containing grains.
Who the heck makes an informed decision about their nutrition to steer away from modern wheat-based processed foods but doesn’t make an informed choice about the rest of what they put in their mouths for nutritional well-being?

  • Be aware that You might be wheat intolerant regardless of gluten or not as well so all socalled glutenfree stuff using wheat…. not good!

  • Used to make fun of gluten free proponents. Thought it was a fad. Turns out i have celiac disease after having tests done. Lol gluten free for a week now

  • I am gluten free when i was younger i was not eating gluten free stuff and i was so poorley so my mum and my dad took me to the docters and they said i was gluten free i hate it

  • How much did you receive from the wheat industry for this video? I hope it was worth putting thousands of people health in danger and prevent them from better quality of life! You money thirsty people make me sick

  • I have many of the signs. Mostly, I suffered with migraines for the last 31 years….wondering what could it be, thinking all sorts of ways to get rid of the migraines(Gremlins)….getting gluten out of my diet has helped. As well as finding that cannabis helps even more. Saddens me that I can’t have delicious hot bread out of the oven anymore… But I rather not have a migraine. My sensitivity to gluten has increased as well. Even small amounts of gluten will trigger a migraine. Just imagine all the foods that has flour added.

  • Thanks for this vid. I actually have an allergy to gluten-it causes rashes all over my body whenever i accidentally digest it. Before I felt like it was a curse, but soon realized its a blessing in disguise.

  • Had IBS most of my life off gluten for 9 months and now symptom free tested negative for Celiacs??? Changed my life for the better

  • People with a gluten free diet have to avoid almost all types of fast food other than fries. This causes most of them to automatically choose healthier alternatives. Sometimes just having to think about your diet can have positive results. Most people sadly do not care about their diet unless it’s january and they want to loose fat.

  • If I’m reading the definition of gluten correctly it’s basically bread. People having bread for thousands of years. All the sudden a large part of the population is sensetive to it?

  • Recently switched to a gluten free diet. Surprisingly, there’s a large selection of Gluten Free foods available at Target. Can fill a whole shopping cart. Really easy switch.

  • I’ve been gluten free for a while as I have hashimoto’s disease (also called autoimmune thyroiditis) and I still experience a lot of these symptoms.

  • Oh please…no one will starve because they don’t eat bread! There are other plant foods out there a person can consume and still be healthy without eating bread!

  • Gluten is linked to mental illness. They have known since the 60s that gluten makes schizophrenia, Bipolar, anxiety + depression worse.

    Google it.

  • why are you guys so upset about non-celiac people going gluten free? i no longer get migraines and my skin is smooooooooth. don’t act entitled to something that can be useful to everyone

  • People with a gluten free diet have to avoid almost all types of fast food other than fries. This causes most of them to automatically choose healthier alternatives. Sometimes just having to think about your diet can have positive results. Most people sadly do not care about their diet unless it’s january and they want to loose fat.

  • I had so much problems at school because of gluten and I did not know about it. Only much later I found out, what was plaguing me.

  • No One should eat gluten.. the undigested parts stick to the cilium in your small intestine and act as a barrier to absorption of nutrients.. so Everyone should avoid gluten, as it is preventing us from absorbing all the nutrients in our foods.. just because you do not have any obvious physical symptoms, does not mean you are not being affected.. nutrient deficiency btw, is the cause of most diseases, including cancer, diabetes, etc.. along with the Bad foods we also eat..Here are two short videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b42-OlGHIq4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FpdqsBntNM

  • The fermentation process that gives the bread its distinctive sour taste also makes it more gut-friendly. Millions of people are suffering from digestive malaise, and if you’re sensitive to foods containing gluten or have irritable bowel syndrome, sourdough bacteria’s ability to break down flour

  • I feel like I’ve hit rock hard after eating anything with gluten, sometimes for days I feel puffy, fatigued and just terrible, had no idea something I eat could make me feel this way

  • So if I quit gluten and get better I better not start eating gluten again or I’m gonna get sick again. Otherwise gluten is okay. Got it

  • Thanks for this vid. I actually have an allergy to gluten-it causes rashes all over my body whenever i accidentally digest it. Before I felt like it was a curse, but soon realized its a blessing in disguise.

  • This prove different treatment about food industry, if there from US, it Will be compromise. Like gluten and MSG or vegetable oil and palm oil.

  • I experienced most of these symptoms but recently found out it was a nickel allergy and not a gluten allergy. If others are struggling to find the cause of such symptoms it could be a nickel allergy.

  • This video is garbage. I never eat grain products, I’m on a low carb high healthy fat diet, and I have never been healthier. Cutting gluten alone is not enough. All grains are inflammatory and nobody needs grains to stay healthy.

  • I use to eat Italian style (’cause I’m Italian..) pizza, spaghetti bread and so on total gluten diet later on my 60 years it starts strong vertigo and my stomach was out of order since years. Everybody told me it’s normal but when vertigo starts i got really scare! The doctor they would prescribe the usual cure with no effect to me. After more than 2 years one doctor told me to stop gluten, I was shocked at first but I heal vertigo the stomach and I have a different life now. Vertigo never comes back again!!!! Stop gluten even if you are not celiac!!!

  • I think that alot of people go on low carb diets to lose weight and then if they go back to eating wheat it’s worse because they lose their built up tolerance?
I’m glad my father convinced me to go wheat free.

  • If I’m reading the definition of gluten correctly it’s basically bread. People having bread for thousands of years. All the sudden a large part of the population is sensetive to it?

  • 1.5 year without bread, pasta, ris and sugar. I have more energy that is stable throw the day, no mor being tired after lunch or sleepy. No more headache, I hade tjat everyday. Plus I lost 18kg

  • I only been gluten free for a week, and I have not had acid reflux after I eat. When i suffered from acid reflux my whole life. Hopefully the bumps on my arms will start to clear up.

  • I’m actually struggling to 100% cut out gluten

I’ve stopped eating the major sources of gluten, but I still find it in some spices. I find myself being concerned that it will be that gluten that will cause a reaction from my body.

  • I am mind blown! I think I have this. I got diagnosed with IBSD after a colonoscopy almost a year ago and some of these like skin itchiness, odd cycle, and ofcourse bad bowel movements is my main issues. Thank you so much. I will go get tested.

  • am I the only one who think it’s fat and sugar to blame… Japanese people eat way less fried food and less sugar, and eat more tea!

  • That FDA Food Pyramid was the worst disservice done to the human race. Read up on how it came about. It was politics and personal power, not science.

  • I have PCOS with insulin resistance and anxiety, depression, and gluten always aggravated my water retention, bloating, inflammation and mood swings. I am now following a gluten free, dairy free, low carb diet, to manage my chronic conditions. It’s not easy but it’s worth it.

  • My dentist said that my dental problems havnt got anything to do with gluten but in every article and in this video it says it does.

  • I have severe gluten intolerance but not caeliac disease this misbelief by (even many in a medical capacity) had serious health impacts on me. It would be appreciated if you make this distinction in the future as it is no longer seen as the case and doctors do acknowledge the existence of gluten intolerance (as possible like you can be intolerant of anything) as separate from the autoimmune disease of caeliac… It was due to this previously held misconception by many and having had multiple negative caeliac tests, that I took years to discover my gluten intolerance.

And if in doubt of my gluten intolerance, as it got worse and I didn’t know what was making me sick, I was: throwing up so frequently my workplace accepted it as normal, stomach issues/gastro issues at every point pretty much: throwing up, bloating, pain all the way through to diahorrea. Sleeping 12hrs a day but exhausted (I think cause my body was suffering internally). Brain fog/couldn’t think clearly and headaches. I ate heaps but lost so much weight due to gastro issues I’d have been hospitalized (probably within a couple of weeks if I didn’t find out)… It was really bad. I had doctors say oh but you’re not caeliac so it’s not likely gluten (this was many 10-15yrs ago)… Eventually a nutritionalists just said to try an elimination diet. The first week I basically ate not carbs and only one protein (lean meat) plus veg and fruit, despite the strict diet, that was the first week I didn’t lose weight, my stomach settled and I slept a normal amount. Over the next 2-3months we added things and it became clear gluten was the issue. I returned to healthy weight and all other symptoms vanished.

I’ve since had newer blood tests that are now available etc that continue to show I’m not caeliac (but show likely gluten sensitivity) and despite ten years on gluten free diet no signs of caeliac or progression of any underlying autoimmune issues have shown (you’d expect something to show up if I had cealic disease this whole, but nothing). However my reaction to gluten if it accidentally enters my diet is still severe and immediate.

  • This video is dumb. Most ppl have no reaction to the gluten in bread. It’s just another carb source like rice or potatoes. Ppl in Europe have been eating all kinds of bread including white bread for a very long time and many of them are much healthier than Americans. Stop spreading nonsense.

  • Do a video on how to cure type 1 diabetes . I eat only ribeye steak and my blood sugar still goes up and I have to take insulin I hate it so much

  • This id all bullshit saying that wheats, breads, pastas and cereals are good for us and they show a box of “Lucky Charms.” hahaha

  • Did you know that every thing give you cancer.
If your family DNA had you mostly have cancer already.
If you sit in your ass watch YouTube every day you could get cancer.
Mostly likely you getting cancer no matter what you do near future.

  • I have severe lower back pain after I fall asleep. Very bad foul smelling gas and now I’m getting rashes for no apparent reason. The lower back pain I thought was from a motorcycle accident but now with other symptoms I’m thinking its gluten?!

  • Exept for hormones and pain in the gut all is the same with me.Just gas build up and need to use ENO for a burping experiance all night long.My swelling is worst off all.Very intense high healed up swelling all over my body and my face, lips, nose and eyes. Its not just gluten I found that some spices do it and then big no,no is preservatives. They try to kill me.I use small dose of cortizone and anti alergic pills everyday of my live.

  • Why not go GRAIN free and solve all grains problems in the body because all the vitamins in grains are found in non grain sources too:)

  • Been gluten free 2 years and i feel so much better, no more brain fog, anxiety, stomach pain or join inflammation. When I do happen to accidentally eat gluten, symptoms start up again. I love bread so I bake with gluten free flour when I want anything sweet.

  • Oats are whole grains and gluten free if not processed with the same machinery as wheat. Also, what the heck do you mean by “same stuff”? There are so many foods that don’t contain gluten that provide ALL of your dietary needs.

I saw that.

  • Thank you so much! Love this video and you’re so sweet.
I just feel like I really need to tell you something. You are absolutely loved beyond any human capacity. Jesus Christ loves YOU and wants to know you. I care about your eternity and He wants you to repent. A lot of people have been deceived by the devil to think that sin is no longer serious and that all we need is to believe in God but even the demons believe in Jesus but yet they’re not saved… It is written that a friend of the world is an enemy of God. ” Let God be true and every man a liar”, most preachers are not preaching the truth that sin leads to eternal torment in a very real place called hell. There are too many people deceived into thinking that once you’ve said a prayer, you’re saved even if you continue living the same sinful life. God hates sin and it’s never stopped being serious. Sin leads to hell and I’d never want you to be deceived thinking that your good works of being a ‘good person’ will save you. We need Jesus, without Him, our good works are as Filthy rags according to the Bible.
Jesus is knocking on the door of your heart and is waiting on you to open to Him and believe that He is the only begotten Son of God. God is not willing that any should perish but all come to repentance. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father but by Him. May God bless you and may you seek Him and truly repent and sin no more to become true children of God. Have a beautiful day ☺️

  • You can get those micro nutrients from other sources. Even if you aren’t medically forced to be gluten free, gluten laden products can still have an effect on your gut health.

  • Imagine that. not eating something that has been a staple of our species diet for tens of thousands of years is bad.

If you are a celiac, you are genetically defective, not trendy.
