  • Followed your diet plan, lost 30 pounds, now my clothes are all baggy. Ya, I said it. It’s all your fault I’m dressed sloppy. Thanks again my friend.

  • Brooooo I like your new shirt bro… i think it makes you look even better! i think you should wear that in every video JOKE! HAHAHA but for real though you look hot in that shirt bro! I’m starting to have a mancrush on you bro! HAHAHAHA jk HAHAH

  • Don’t forget. These are just “impressions.”…Not facts.

Just red flags, and possible hints of a certain behavior. Use them as guidelines only. Not as official rules.

Be careful not to judge a book by its cover. And actually get to know the person first, before you misinterpret them.

But people are going to perceive you the way they want to anyway. So you shouldn’t worry so much about what they think, and instead just be yourself.

  • The day I killed America!
    by richi805

tap, tap, tap….that’s all I kept hearing. the roaring wind making contact with the tree which kept producing that wretched sound. I looked to the right and saw that snow white restroom paper. I knew I had to think fast, otherwise the worst would happen. that noise kept going…tap tap tap. oh lord please let it stop! I felt that sweat dripping down my forehead and tasting that salty fluid. Tap,Tap TAP….. I could hear it getting worse. My breathing got worse and I felt nauseous. My life began playing in my head. My first kiss, the day I proposed to my beautiful wife, the first day I met my oldest son Jason. Oh what a wonderful day, like a scene from a fictional novel. I started smelling something now. Not sure what it was, I only knew it couldn’t be good! I took a deep breath and prayed to the big cheese upstairs and repent for all my sins. Splash, the deed was done. The room filled with the stench of death! I knew this was unholy. The fall of an angel was nothing compared to this. I asked him for guidance. What else could I do? To my left I saw it! The answer to my prayer. Tiege Hanley! It was just so beautiful amazing! The texture as well as the smell all indicated that everything would be OK. I scooped a dime size and rubbed the monstrosity until it turned pale. I knew I had done it. I started seeing something oddly strange? My breath was running wild and I felt my heart racing. I saw it. I had created a monster, but not any monster. This creature had a weird face and body. My vision grew blurry and I just kept seeing red. I felt extreme pain and I blacked out. The last thing I heard was “you’re fired”.

    ” call me Mr. President”

please purchase tiege hanley guys let’s help out Alpha! He really does have an awesome product

  • Shirt’s a bit too long imo, completely covers your crotch. Also, Proper Cloth is hands down the best MTO shirt company, with as you guess it, the best fabrics. Even though they’re not cheap I still find myself buying from them because the shirts are the absolute best I have and have ever owned!

  • I disagree with the better dresser get the job when I went for my first interview I did not even wear a tie or jacket, not even nice shoes. I got the job because I have a brain. the guys that dress smart was idiots

  • ALPHA I’m coming back to this video because I have faltered. Give people compliments, I’m thinking about the party I went to last night and how a conversation might have gone with a spicy senorita if I’d have complimented her bomb ass hair, shit.

  • “Head and shoulders above your competition”…. And speaking about your head and shoulders, make sure that your skin is super smooth with some Tiege

  • my dude had swag, looks, charm i think he even used Tiege Hanley lol, but seroulsy dude he acted like a brat, Game over mario was down and outta there! asap!

  • Tailor Store shirts starts at $69 hand crafted for you. Additional 20% off with AlphaM https://www.tailorstore.com/making-a-better-first-impression

  • hey Aaron i really enjoy your videos i just want to know your thoughts on tracksuits. I am a teen and i love tracksuits(legs) and normal tshirts. I feel like it fits me well but I am not alpha enough. Hope you see this 😉

  • Hey alpha m. Got a question i’d like to pose to you, one which i would appreciate a video on. It is in regards to suits, i have my university graduation ceremony coming up in July (in the UK) and was hoping you could give me some guidance and maybe anyone else out there on the best suits to wear in the summer, to go for a full three piece or just a suit jacket and jeans, also what types of styles are ‘in’ right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Love watching your stuff, keep up the great work!

  • Alpha I invited her to my house to smoke weed cuz she likes that but she has a bf for like 4 years you think she’s down to smash or atleast is this considered a date?

  • Bro a really like all of your content and it really help me to pay more attention toward my personality and grooming.
Can u do a video about best face wash for oily face type.

  • alpha,
with all the videos on how to dress to impress how about a video or two on how to keep those clothes in pristine condition and maybe some mens fashion 101 videos

  • This is super factual! Last night at a party (yah i’m in highschool and this stuff works even there) i hooked up with a super hot chick, and she straight up said it was cause she liked my style, in particular my shirt. It was at most $20 but it looked good and fit really well, and that’s what clearly counts

  • Aaron, please, dont go in wrong direction. Your videos were so strong, real. They were you presenting facts and YOUR ideas about better, confident life. I dont feel it anymore because you do too much sponsored videos where you start well with introducing us with powerful title and the theme that we need but then all falls apart when your sponsors product “take the seat”. Please make videos like before, where they have more “you” in there. Thank you Alpha. Ivan

  • I just could wear baggy pants and little crop tops showing my stomach without hating it cuz I’m not as skinny as most other girls wearing that sort of style and fearing sitting down!!

  • You’re so beautiful it doesn’t matter what make up like you do or what Wigs you were always so beautiful thank you for the tips you give appreciate them

  • I’m an artsy hoe who loves grunge but kinda likes to be girly like how this whole video I’ve wanted to ask where you got that damn shirt *❤️ but I also love sweatpants and crops and big tees and button ups and dark colours and pastels and plaid. Help

  • THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!! Most people who make videos like this start by saying “mAKe a PIntEReSt bOard oF aLL oF ThE tyPeS oF cLOthEs ThAT YoU LiKe aNd THe sTYlEs tHAt iNSpiRE yOU” and then their next step is to buy more clothes within that “style”. This was a WAYYYY more practical and effective video with clear steps on how to find your actual style!!!!

  • I feel like i’m living my past self. But I’m into korean fashion but it’s not easy to find it in my country. So when I buy clothes is always what my younger self liked. I have a pinterest thing saved with clothes that I love but I can’t buy it in my country and I’m pretty sure I won’t wear it if I had the chance so I’m kinda stuck lol.

  • Just a tip if you don’t want to post it to so many people you can create a private account and then only some people that you want can see it

  • What can help you get a head-start if you’re completely lost: Look into the Kibbe body types as well as your Color Season Type, then engage in endless Instagram, Reddit and Pinterest searches although many things are kinda old-fashioned, there’s good stuff in between.
These can serve as a guideline (not restriction) on what style and hues may fit you best.

  • If I’m honest I thought you’d literally demand me to wear a set of clothes but NAH you are so nice and helpful! Thank you alot And boy are you glowing and GOREGOUS sista

  • If you feel good inside and you are relaxed and friendly and not noisy or showing off you WILL create a good impression. Simple as that

  • I see Clothes that I like but I don’t get it cause I know I don’t have the confidence to wear it and my mom will whip me for not wearing it

  • I want to try and find my own style but my dad doesn’t want me to look like a boy cause he’s having a hard time accepting that I’m bi so this is really hard for me cause he also doesn’t want me to wear crop tops.
He’s always telling me to hurry up when shopping but it’s not that I’m not looking I’m just looking for something he’ll approve of. Plus he’s conservative and in the era where all the girls wore baggy sweatpants and baggy shirts

  • my biggest question about fashion is that what if i dont want to make a point with my clothes? what if i dont want clothes to define me? what if the existence of cultural context on every single piece of clothing is way too much for me to hande and process? how do i find my “style” then?
minimalism also makes a statement. and a huge one. metamodernism embraces minimalism, so that makes you real trendy.
how will i ever get out of this labyrinth?

  • It’s a huge and great investment when I decided to buy a sewing machine. I discovered that I have a thing for sewing and when I find clothes online that I like (the style and cut), I sew my own clothes. Thank you, Ashley!

  • Okay but how do you combine brightly-colored/ugly hawaiian shirts, gothy, vintage-y, frumpy oversized sweater, high functionality themes?? Cuz I LOVE all that shit

  • I’ve lost a lot of weight during quarantine and I’m really close to my goal weight. And that means I can wear clothes I never thought I’d be able to wear. I’ve always dreamed of wearing cute clothes and not looking bland because my main focus was trying to hide my chub. I’m going to use these tips to try and get better at finding clothes that match and are cute. Thank you so much for this video.

  • i’m tryna change my style cuz i’m getting tired of having absolutely no color in my closet and just wearing basic colored t-shirt and leggings. but i’m also pale so like nothing looks good on me

  • hate my closet. absolutely hate it.:( I know what clothes I want, the only thing is that my mom hates almost every style I’ve shown her.:/ So, first step is that my mom will allow me to wear what i want.

  • I’ve personally never had a style or anything that was actually mine, so I decided to change it and start finding clothes that really suit me. This video will reaaaally help me achieving this “goal” soo thank you thank you thank you! <3

  • How should I wear shorts or skirts or dresses often? Cuz I don’t have confidence. Help me out please comment. I always wear long pants or long skirts, dresses and jackets or you know, juz not fashionable. The clothes in my closet are mostly for special occations and shirts I got from my relatives from my birthday.

  • I watched this and now I wear what I want and I never get harsh words thrown at me I used to get bullied and I was insecure to wear no e stuff but watching this video made me able to wear what I want u made my life very easy I love u so much thanks

  • Always seeming to direct the conversation with “I -this-” or “me -that-” or “I…I….I…I” definitely gets under the skin. Thanks for the awareness psych2go.

  • My current style is dressing like a middle school boy in gym shorts and t-shirts all year round I think I may be the exception to not completely starting from scratch

  • Like I am pretty thicc and im a liiittle bit fat and ya know I love wearing dresses and I would SOOOO wear tank tops and crop tops BUUUT my mom wouldnt let me wear something like that since I am fat and I look weird but I like how I am thicc! I would like to be just a little bit thinner!

  • I’m starting high school I love the overdressed look and a lot of eccentric looks, I think at my age I’m looking for what my style and what is best for me and how I feel. I want to overdress but once let’s say, my mom, asks me to go change because that is too much it feels somewhat of a bummer. I understand that of course, I have to listen to what she has to say because like my mom says “90% of the I know what I’m talking about”. She has a lot of wisdom and I understand she has most likely gone through it. I guess this was a way to vent.

  • Is there someone whose style that you fit in and style that you adore are way different? That’s me…‍♀️ Maybe im not good at self objectification.

  • I wear black jeans that have like a shoelace lacing up my legs idk how to explain it
And i usually wear a black or black and red graphic t shirt with it and any black shoes I could find

    PLEASE HELP ME

  • Don’t give a shit, but at the same time care, be friendly and assume she likes you, say no when a no is needed, leave in the high point of the conversation, bla bla bla, that stufff

  • Dearly Bethany is the best channel for mindset videos and teaching us how to be the best version of ourselves possible I actually created my own channel, ‘Taylor Victoria’, to show even MORE videos like this Come and check it out and I will always follow back

  • Thank you. You’ve given much to think about. Trying to change my wardrobe but I realized it’s not just changing the clothes that I have to work on.

  • I am really trying to figure this out. In high school I wore a uniform to school, basic tshirts/running shorts to extracurriculars, and another uniform to work. I then went straight to a super strict Christian college where I had a dress code and again work uniforms. I left that school and went straight to working and more uniforms. I am now 22, married with 2 kids, and I have absolutely no idea how to dress. I’ve only ever dressed according to someone else’s rules and now I don’t even fit into my old tshirts and jeans because of babies. I am so lost

  • After watching over sixteen of Bethany’s fashion videos I have finally been more honest with myself and more confident in my own body. Ever since December of last year, I started selling online all the items that I did not like or did not wear anymore. Then found Dearly Bethany here on YT, I have done so much research on everything from necklines to dresses, shirts, blouses length. To types of pants, skirt, etc. Body shape, colors that look great with my skin color. Finally… I realized I have been wearing the wrong century all along! I am building up Old-World Greece/ 1950s type of wardrobe. It’s a bit expensive but so worth it because the fabrics are handmade and earth-friendly. These pieces will last me forever or I can hand them down to my three nieces who love dressing up!

  • I saved all the outfit picture that has same color and style that I have in my wardrobe on pinterest, to choose what should I wear easier

  • I found my style which is a little bit old fashioned. I am not comfortable at trendy style like shorts or crop top which is showing your cleavage

  • I didn’t feel like taking photos everyday so I went through my photos of the last 2 years to see what colors and styles looked good on me. Found out that grey and dark colored tops don’t work for me at all! I have quite a few of them but never knew why I don’t really feel comfortable in them. I now created a color palette and think this will help me so much. Thanks for this inspiring video!

  • thank u for mentioning about liking more than 1 style of clothing. i like 3 styles: vintage/retro, alternative/dark minimalism and geek chic. I love color, specifically jewel tones, i hate pastels, but my fave color is black though. all these fashion blogs say how u need to identify your style but they never talk about the possibility that your style could be a combo of more than 1 style

  • I can’t tell you how helpful this was. I watched it, took notes, immediately went into my bedroom and ended up filling an IKEA bag with clothes that just weren’t me.

  • Wow! Thank you for this video.
I have been struggling for so many years with my style and at nearly 40 still don’t know. I was always annoyed with myself because I stuck to the same colours and thought I should be more adventurous but actually you have made me feel better to stick to what I love. Hope to see more from you x

  • Okay but how do you combine brightly-colored/ugly hawaiian shirts, gothy, vintage-y, frumpy oversized sweater, high functionality themes?? Cuz I LOVE all that shit

  • i feel like my style changes every few months and i keep wasting money on clothes lmao and this is how its always been.. i feel like i should have grown out of this stage by now lol

  • I can’t tell you how helpful this was. I watched it, took notes, immediately went into my bedroom and ended up filling an IKEA bag with clothes that just weren’t me.

  • I love this. I am a junior high teacher and while my school is allowing more and more jeans days, my co-teachers tend to dress more casual. However, I love dressing chic and classy, especially because I am a young teacher and it gives me confidence

  • Honestly, any type of clothing suit me even tho im extremely short and i can make stuff work but the problem is that i like trying new styles and dont like to fixate on one specific style
It all just depends on my mood ya know.

  • I sometimes think I have more than one preferred style. I know you can combine them, but I’m so insecure about it, and I also feel overdressed and not confident as many said before me.

  • Already made a bad impression. People that are over weight shows lack of self control. Imagine someone who hasn’t mastered their fleshly urge to eat giving advise. It’s like a very poor bum who claims to have the solution for the economy. That’s exactly how Democrats behave lol

  • thank you so much! I am Always confused about what to wear and people normally find me lazy. It´s not the impression i want to make, now i can actually change that

  • I really understand about how much personal style can mean! I’ve always dressed really differently, just because that’s my authentic way of dressing, and it feels really empowering and positive just to feel like I can be myself and express what’s inside on the outside! ☺️❤️

  • Thanks for sharing.. will stick in my brain from now on… I already do but nothing wrong in reviewing this típs now and then ❤️

  • ok but my thing is, i hate my body. i just wish i was skinny. i’ve tried losing at least 20 pounds but the highest i got was down 5 pounds.
i don’t want to work out, i’m a teen so it makes it harder to know what to do. yk what i mean?
but i’m so determined to lose the little bit i want to but something keeps getting in my way.

i’ve always been self-conscious and a very low self esteem. i just need help, i’m so tired of all of this.
    any help?

  • Loved that thanks I watched it with my husband and it spoke to both of us. Love how style is how one expresses who one is! You’re a lovely presenter

  • The first impression I got was not authentic. Too many over exaggerated hand gestures. This whole thing seems way too dramatic. Factor that into your algorithm.

  • The second they see me, it gives a bad impression
If you saw my face, you would understand why no one likes me, both as a friend, or a crush
    I don’t care ÙwÚ
Most of my “friends” used me for my good grades or to help with their life.
With that status, I don’t even need to make a first impression, it’s already there.

  • Pinterest really helps me, perhaps it could help someone else too. I prefer it over instagram because with Pinterest you can pin you fav images to boards which you can save and look back through when needed. make a mental note of the the styles you are drawn to because that is you. good luck to everyone:)

  • I’m here because I’ve been emo/goth my whole life and I’m 25 y/o now and feel like the goth style won’t look good on me five years from now. This is really hard for me because I really want to be goth forever, but I don’t wanna end up being ridiculous:/

  • I put on my tartan pants, long sleeve tee and star wars tshirt which I used to love. It dont feel right anymore. My entire style has changed so much I cant keep up. I need to switch out my closet way too often

  • I really don’t know where to start other than what i think looks nice or what i like because my clothes are loose hand-me-downs and i want to change that

  • I think the body type one is what is most difficult. I have a stomach disorder and can wear 4 pant sizes some days…. Ugh lol but it’s not a big deal lol

  • Love this video! It’s hilarious and it’s great how honest you are with your reactions to each of the products and how they perform!!

  • Advice on redoing a wardrobe? Like how do you go a spend a heck ton of money all of a sudden if you KNOW what you want? Or how to do it slowly?

  • I’m friends with a girl who used to be really into the emo and scene kid subcultures but has since revamped her style from a MySpace influenced edgy style to her own personal unique style. She went from a really cute emo girl to an extremely gorgeous young woman. Changing her style also changed her attitude and she has become much more open minded, especially in regards to her music taste, which has since become more diverse. I’ve actually done the same myself in regards to fashion. I was usually obsessed with dressing extremely gothic and wore band shirts all the time but I always felt limited by it, so I have since been more open minded to fashion as well.

  • I made my own aesthetic is called Rose because that’s one of my middle names and it just for me. I highly recommend doing something like that if you don’t have one cohesive style.

  • Dearly Bethany is the best channel for mindset videos and teaching us how to be the best version of ourselves possible I actually created my own channel, ‘Taylor Victoria’, to show even MORE videos like this Come and check it out and I will always follow back

  • I have chosen quarentine to decide I hate my wardrobe and need a new one…
To be fair, I’m going to college soon, but an inconvenient time nontheless

Now I have existed on hand me downs and an accumulation of my mother’s top picks for quite a few years now I also would like to point out my big shopping phase happened while I was going through my “I’m incredibly fat and need to wear baggy clothing ONLY from this day forth” phase, so this will be a trip…

  • A lot of these types of videos really only talk about pieces that I would consider to be a bit more formal/chic and I love how you addressed that your personal style has to reflect your comfort level and lifestyle! Thanks!!

  • Is there someone whose style that you fit in and style that you adore are way different? That’s me…‍♀️ Maybe im not good at self objectification.

  • You’re so beautiful it doesn’t matter what make up like you do or what Wigs you were always so beautiful thank you for the tips you give appreciate them

  • All the bare minerals products that I have ever used always let me down. From powder to concealer to moisturizer. So disappointing.

  • This is the best video ever!!! I love that you just show when things are ridiculous. This whole video makes me love you so much.

  • This is kinda co-dependant video, i would respond to a texts msg in a stupid romantic encounter, maybe its my mom dying, who knows?

  • After watching you for a while now I somehow just found this video. This had me cracking up!!! I was rooting for that eye liner also!!!

  • Thank you Bailey, first time watching the video and you just crack me up. I laughed so hard I had to pause. Several times. I love your videos and personnality, you’re awesome!

  • 11:34 the face you make when you’ve totally given up I was laughing so hard I was wheezing Thank you Bailey I truly needed that!

  • i am dying at your eyeliner!!! laughed way too hard haha. i can’t believe mac released that. i can barely do my eyeliner nice with a felt tip haha

  • You are me as fuuuuuuck when my liner goes wrong. JUST KEEP GOING UNTIL I HIT THE BROW BONE EVERYTHING’S FINE THIS IS FINE. Lmfao, love you, Bailey!

  • I always seem to instantly forget someone’s name when meeting them. It’s not that I don’t care and I don’t mean to. I’m going to try to start remembering to say their name back from now on and see if it helps.

  • I haven’t watched your videos in a hot minute and seeing this video reminded me why I love youtube to begin with always keep it real!

  • Hi Bailey,
I was going to leave a comment anyway but nice to have a giveaway!
I really liked this because stuff like this happens to me in real life and it was fun to laugh along with you! Xxxx

  • You said the MAC eyeliner would be good for graphic makeup-and that’s exactly what you did on your eyes, you’re too funny! ✌️

  • I do have the right kind of clothes for my style but i’d like to put a name on it: I usually wear like cargo, combat, loose pants and a tied button up shirt with long sleeves. Does anyone have a name for this?

  • Even though you had trouble with the wig and the manufacturer of the wig you still look fierce in it!! I wish I could pull off that lip color!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

  • Once when I was 3 or 4 years old, my cousin came over to my house with a friend (My cousin and her friend were I think both 5 or 6 years old). So my cousins friend, I will give her the name Sarah, kept giving me dirty looks. She was sorta mean and I think was trying to get me away from being able to play or talk with my cousin. My first impression of her was that she was rude and just didn’t like me. Now to the present time, I haven’t seen her since and I really don’t remember how she looks like, but I remember her name and my first impression of her. As it comes to my surprise, my moms boss wants me to meet Sarah. And of course, the first thing that comes to mind was her first impression. My mom told me to forget the first time we met because we were pretty young. Now I am meeting her tomorrow and I am trying hard to forget my first impression of her. I don’t know if she still remembers me, but hopefully she doesn’t. This goes to say that first impressions are VERY important. I just hope that when I see her tomorrow, that we both get along. Because I think my moms boss wants us to be friends badly…

  • People generally like talking about themselves more than listening to others, so if you want to leave a good first impression put a bit of a brake on your tongue and try to stimulate the other person to talk and show interest in what they say (this, of course, doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t talk about yourself at all, the other person will be interested to learn about you as well, just don’t overdo it).

  • Thanks Vanessa for sharing it. I try keeping your insights in mind when I carry myself around at work. I need to practice controlling my hand gestures but for some reason I end-up putting my hands together on the table, in pockets, etc. Any tips on how to improve hand gestures during business communication to exude confidence, get acknowledgement, and be likeable? Thank you!

  • Bad advice is bad. Not everyone needs to be the same. You speak the way you speak, look at what you feel comfortable looking at, and people aren’t perfect. You don’t need to be anyone other than who you are!

  • My super power is that I am exceptionally bad at first impressions, but that allows me to exceed expectations. If I’m a 7 in any given category, but I immediately come off as a 4, sure people are initially disappointed or displeased, but after a short time they recognize that I am Infact much better than 4, a 7! Thats nearly twice as good! But if I am flat out 7 and they see that, a 7 out of 10 is meh, that’s a C, bearly passing. It’s never intentional, but it always happens. Sure sometimes people are dissapointed and I never get the opportunity to change their mind, but it’s okay because it has worked out in my favor numours times.

  • I used to be so bad at talking, especially in elementary & middle school. It was private school & people were really mean & blunt. They would immediately tell me to stop talking so much & critsize everything. Wasn’t till I switched schools & in high school & young adult life I could have some confidence to really try to talk & have good, meaningful conversations with people.

  • Is it bad that I actually like the super thick liner on her? Totally Bridgette Bordeaux (so wrong) or like a old school Bond girl!

  • It’s hard to maintain eye contact when you’re used to people either frowning, scowling, or giving you the biggest shit-eating grin at you for almost your entire life.

Having someone genuinely smile at me and say they enjoy my presence is an almost alien thought to me.

  • Being too quiet hurts really bad. The other person will see you as diffident, secretive and uninterested in them. Like said, conversation is indeed a two way process.

  • So basically aspergers are fucked because:

    4. You interrup people repeatedly.
    (oversharing)
    5. You avoid eye contact.
    (just can’t)
    6. You only talk about yourself.
    (oversharing)
    7. You answer your phone.
    (information>people)
    8. You complain too much.
    (oversharing)
    9. You tell long stories.
    (oversharing)
    10. You don’t ask questions. (not interested in others)

  • how i met one of my closest friends:
it was fifth grade and she was new
so i started introducing myself and she did too
i knew she was shy so i asked her some questions and stuff. we were saying hi everyday and talking then got each other’s numbers, then constantly was texting a lot:)
so to start a friendship try to be comfortable and ask easy going questions!

  • This video made me laugh my ass off. I dont know if anyone else sees it, but you made yourself look like that actress Kate Hudson, lol

  • I once farted in an elevator with my date after our initial meeting. I couldn’t help it. I took the bull by it’s horns and offered her to pull my finger for a possible second round. We still were together for weeks afterwards but no, we didn’t ended up married. This was before the internet came out.

  • *Gossiping
*one-upping (I guess that runs in the same category as “turning the conversation back to them constantly”,
*being overly aggressive or uncomfortably assertive, like I get it, you want me to know that you’re a strong confident female who can handle any situation with force if needed, we just met and this is a baby shower not the hunger games so please stop asking guest to “punch your stomach” it’s highly inappropriate as is the other guest who is telling everyone about her “no man is worth the pain of labor and that’s why she has always supported being pro-choice. Men use pregnancy to enslave women into domesticated servitude and she has told all her past men, if they wanted kids then they should have the pregnancy, because she is an independent strong woman who doesn’t need or want a man”. Hell yeah sister preach, but maybe not in the earshot of the mommy to be who dearly loves her husband or her sister who recently lost hers after 10yrs of marriage, 7 of which they spent trying to conceive. Maybe just try to sit back and relax for a while. No attacks are imminent, it’s ok.
*Don’t Vape, Smoke or chew tobacco. It’s gross.
*lying or making excuses right off the bat.
    *acting disinterested
*saying “so anyways” after I spoke.
    *being drunk or high.

  • You totally got the job… 7:40🙂 Great tips, Bethany! Anyone watching can apply these points without feeling lost or overwhelmed or not addressed. Thank you, Shannon A.:)

  • Urghh, I really am the worst at making eye contact, I mean, really2 bad at making eye making eye contact. Instead of making eye contact I always just look at their face. Hmm.. How do I avoid from voiding eye contact?

  • my biggest question about fashion is that what if i dont want to make a point with my clothes? what if i dont want clothes to define me? what if the existence of cultural context on every single piece of clothing is way too much for me to hande and process? how do i find my “style” then?
minimalism also makes a statement. and a huge one. metamodernism embraces minimalism, so that makes you real trendy.
how will i ever get out of this labyrinth?

  • Don’t forget. These are just “impressions.”…Not facts.

Just red flags, and possible hints of a certain behavior. Use them as guidelines only. Not as official rules.

Be careful not to judge a book by its cover. And actually get to know the person first, before you misinterpret them.

But people are going to perceive you the way they want to anyway. So you shouldn’t worry so much about what they think, and instead just be yourself.

  • With the name thing, I am VERY VERY BAD!!! But I honestly tell the person: I am so bad with names, so please do not get offended. Then it’s all okay.

  • My son’s dog, Buddy, is living with me until he can move out of the barracks. Turns out, EVERYONE knows Buddy’s name! Everyone says, “Oh hi, Buddy!” Then I get to tell them that’s actually his name and we usually chat for a bit.

So, I’m at the dog park, thinking Buddy just might finally be the catalyst I need to meet a nice guy. Then, this cute guy arrives with his dog. I get a little excited thinking about the possibilities as he comes over to us and says to Buddy, “Hi, big guy.” My immediate thought, “FAIL! YOU FAILED! EVERYONE knows his name is Buddy! If YOU don’t know this, you are clearly NOT Mr. Right. Bye, Felicia.”

  • This is kinda co-dependant video, i would respond to a texts msg in a stupid romantic encounter, maybe its my mom dying, who knows?

  • I saved all the outfit picture that has same color and style that I have in my wardrobe on pinterest, to choose what should I wear easier

  • I personally like it when people have long stories to tell me. Means they’ll do must of the talking while all I have to do is just listen and nod.

  • SHE’S PERFECT! I’ve been learning English and here I can practice my English and get more information about humans behavior, which I like!! Thank you from Brazil

  • “If you’re depressed or in an anxious mood, people will pick up on this.” Well f***, that pretty much kills it right there. It seems like I’m in a constant low-key depression. And what if you’re not feeling calm, confident or powerful? What am I supposed to do, fake it? I thought I was supposed to be myself. This channel is not for people like me.

  • This is super factual! Last night at a party (yah i’m in highschool and this stuff works even there) i hooked up with a super hot chick, and she straight up said it was cause she liked my style, in particular my shirt. It was at most $20 but it looked good and fit really well, and that’s what clearly counts

  • So is the world split into two groups of people?

The ones who are trying everything they can think of to make a good impression/not be boring/seem confident and happy…

And then the people that group are trying to impress, who sit back and live their lives and simply judge the first impression/interest level/confidence of the people around them?

Or, are we all in that first group and we’re all just trying to impress each other simultaneously?

  • The PROBLEM isn’t you but them! People are different & should be TAKEN the TIME to know them. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover! If they don’t accept you for who you are, what you want to be & become then they’re really not worth it… are they?

Peolple think that they are in someway way better or more perfect than others!

To me, just cheap one race thinkers! I’m EuroAsian! I’m made of two countries, two contenents! Two religions, doubled the horizon, doubled the thoughts in width & depth! & speak three languages!

  • nice research and tips given thanx it was quite helpful….. but i believe at the end being yourself is very important, do not try to impress go with the flow naturally other wise it might be suffocating trying to remember all those gesture. but being your self does not mean be arrogant or cocky. just be generous, compassionate indiscriminately and be a deep listener and meditate. peace

  • While it bums me out that people judge on a first impression & hold onto that.
I still like the tips. It is just a matter of being more self aware of your body.

  • All the bare minerals products that I have ever used always let me down. From powder to concealer to moisturizer. So disappointing.

  • Yeah… not very helpful for individuals with social anxiety, or just straight anxiety. I won’t pretend to be someone I’m not and you shouldn’t push people to be inauthentic.

  • Already made a bad impression. People that are over weight shows lack of self control. Imagine someone who hasn’t mastered their fleshly urge to eat giving advise. It’s like a very poor bum who claims to have the solution for the economy. That’s exactly how Democrats behave lol

  • Ok I thought the mac palette said “pussy princess” for about a millisecond before you read it, and when you said my exact thoughts I laughed so hard that a tear came out of my eye. Omg

  • Surely, I agree with you about your experience with the people who are looking for the perfect place to stay with me,
I replied that answer tomorrow morning at 9:00, Dt 29/08/2019 about my last two years ago experience, what I was doing, and in which struggling I was passing through this process of making a good thing and how I was working.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts about me that what people are thinking about me.

  • As always a fantastic and extremely helpful video, thank you Vanessa. Also loving your book at the moment. Keep up the valuable work your doing. Sending you good vibes from the UK.

  • First impressions aren’t the strongest impressions though. But sometimes people won’t give a 2nd chance, but if they do and actually take time to get to know someone. Also, first impressions do not stay with us, because this one woman’s first impression was incredible, but now I’m not so sure about her character at all, after all this time.

  • Vanessa, another great video!!! I love your bullet points. I will first be using the self-evaluation for myself and also suggesting our leadership team add this video to our leadership training!

  • You’re a scientist. You know a 10th of a second (0.1 second) is NOT a microsecond (0.000001), you meant 100 milliseconds (0.100). That microsecond comparison drove me crazy at 1:20 (I work in milli, micro, nano, and pico seconds) and I tried finding the original work. I didn’t succeed on the original work, but did find an interview of Alex Todorov at https://www.rogerdooley.com/first-impressions/

Todorov says he exposed subjects to the images for various quantities of milliseconds (.001), three magnitudes longer. He found that “the general finding is that essentially you don’t need more than 160 milliseconds to form coherent impressions.” This presentation period is 0.16 long, or 4/25 of a second-enough for 4 frames of a film to be seen in a movie theater (film is exposed/recorded and played back at roughly 25 frames per second (24 fps or precisely 23.976 fps)).

    tl;dr
First of all, know that I enjoy your videos, they get me thinking on the human side of my job. Oh, and I’m sure I qualify as pedantic.

Now for more than anyone wants, but it is interesting: The 24 fps “frame rate” of film is all part of a current hullabaloo in the film world. That 24 fps frame rate allows the brain to fill in movement similar to how our eyes see it, as somewhat of a blur. The 30 fps or 60 fps, or even 120 fps, where we are presented with more frames to fill in movement removes that blur effect of 24 fps and the screen image seems hyper-real-because it is hyper-real to our brains. There is a need for higher speed fps for scientific and other uses, and video uses a 30 fps along with some monitors capable of displaying 60 fps, 120 fps, and even 240 fps, which is something the gaming industry is moving into. What’s most interesting is that the hyper-real display ends up giving our brain more information than it needs, so our brain filters out the unneeded portion and gives a gamer a needed advantage in the millisecond visual clues that Todorov researched and you discussed.

See, it all came full circle. Anyway, milliseconds, hundreds of them, not microseconds. People get confused enough by science.

  • Mmh I often hear the statement “at first xx appeared a bit yy, but when I got to know him/her, he/she was lovely”. Would everyone be a massive hypocrite?

  • My super power is that I am exceptionally bad at first impressions, but that allows me to exceed expectations. If I’m a 7 in any given category, but I immediately come off as a 4, sure people are initially disappointed or displeased, but after a short time they recognize that I am Infact much better than 4, a 7! • Thanks for sharing.. will stick in my brain from now on… I already do but nothing wrong in reviewing this típs now and then ❤️

  • Thank you. You’ve given much to think about. Trying to change my wardrobe but I realized it’s not just changing the clothes that I have to work on.

  • “If you’re depressed or in an anxious mood, people will pick up on this.” Well f***, that pretty much kills it right there. It seems like I’m in a constant low-key depression. • I found my style which is a little bit old fashioned. I am not comfortable at trendy style like shorts or crop top which is showing your cleavage

  • I have only worn clothes for comfort and never really thought about style because I have been downplaying myself and my body. Recently, I have been watching videos and have been inspired to make a wardrobe change. With these tips, I think I took a step closer to discovering my own style. Thank you very much!

  • I looked at the back of my closet one day to see what I was no longer wearing and I saw a bunch of creams and peach coloured tops. I was mind blown . It was as if I had been subconsciously eliminating things I didn’t like.

  • Wow! Thank you for this video.
I have been struggling for so many years with my style and at nearly 40 still don’t know. I was always annoyed with myself because I stuck to the same colours and thought I should be more adventurous but actually you have made me feel better to stick to what I love. Hope to see more from you x

  • I am 12, my mom buys clothes for me. I come from a religious family, I can’t wear crop tops, shorts, revealing stuff or tight clothes. I’ve been tryna find outfits which will make me look stylish but like not that type of stylist if you know what I mean

  • i feel like my style changes every few months and i keep wasting money on clothes lmao and this is how its always been.. i feel like i should have grown out of this stage by now lol

  • this video helps me a lot actually:>
like before i felt like it was useless but now she made me understand that trying on different outfits to practice is good
    i love you girl

  • The trouble I have is that I love everything!! Though, instead of a problem, I want to rock it. I want to dress totally different everyday and break the expectations of a common personal color scheme or clothing. One day is nude, chic, and classy with a beret and dress pants, while the next is fun and vibrant layers and many accessories.

  • I want to be all the styles at once, like egirl+soft girl+anime style+cottage core+that school girl style with cute skirts and sweaters etc…

  • I sometimes think I have more than one preferred style. I know you can combine them, but I’m so insecure about it, and I also feel overdressed and not confident as many said before me.

  • Turns out I’ve been doing the closest color scheme subconsciously. I could literally mach any shirt with any bottom.
    My color palette is:
Navy blue, black, white, grey, (red). I really want to incorporate more beige/light brown.
It’s really not the most interesting palette but I love wearing those colors.

I’m really struggling in the accessory department though. That is hARd.

  • am i the only one who feels like i don’t even have a style but just put stuff together that i like. I JUST FOUND MY STYLE……. SHIT.

  • ok but my thing is, i hate my body. i just wish i was skinny. i’ve tried losing at least 20 pounds but the highest i got was down 5 pounds.
i don’t want to work out, i’m a teen so it makes it harder to know what to do. yk what i mean?
but i’m so determined to lose the little bit i want to but something keeps getting in my way.

i’ve always been self-conscious and a very low self esteem. i just need help, i’m so tired of all of this.
    any help?

  • I do have the right kind of clothes for my style but i’d like to put a name on it: I usually wear like cargo, combat, loose pants and a tied button up shirt with long sleeves. Does anyone have a name for this?

  • Advice on redoing a wardrobe? Like how do you go a spend a heck ton of money all of a sudden if you KNOW what you want? Or how to do it slowly?

  • Tulsi Gabbard will be the next president!!! Took me 10 secs to find this!!! Now remember this and come like this comment after next year’s election!!!

  • Just a tip if you don’t want to post it to so many people you can create a private account and then only some people that you want can see it

  • am i the only one who feels like i don’t even have a style but just put stuff together that i like. I JUST FOUND MY STYLE……. SHIT.

  • Always seeming to direct the conversation with “I -this-” or “me -that-” or “I…I….I…I” definitely gets under the skin. Thanks for the awareness psych2go.

  • I just could wear baggy pants and little crop tops showing my stomach without hating it cuz I’m not as skinny as most other girls wearing that sort of style and fearing sitting down!!

  • By my experience wearing what in my opinion made me look good and fashionable has always crashed with my mother’s expectations. Dont get me wrong my mom isnt abusive or whatsoever, I love her but the fact that I dont get support of her for wearing what I want ( i adore old-fashion, classic, soft and art mom style and she is all for women showing off their silhouette, mostly skinny kinda skimpy clothing so they appear more,,fem” etc.) so it is really hard for me not to feel ugly because someone so close to me as my own mother always does and will criticize whatever I want to wear. Anyways thank you Ashley for uploading yet another great video. Keep on doing amazing darling

  • I made my own aesthetic is called Rose because that’s one of my middle names and it just for me. I highly recommend doing something like that if you don’t have one cohesive style.

  • Bad advice is bad. Not everyone needs to be the same. You speak the way you speak, look at what you feel comfortable looking at, and people aren’t perfect. You don’t need to be anyone other than who you are!

  • I see Clothes that I like but I don’t get it cause I know I don’t have the confidence to wear it and my mom will whip me for not wearing it

  • hate my closet. absolutely hate it.:( I know what clothes I want, the only thing is that my mom hates almost every style I’ve shown her.:/ So, first step is that my mom will allow me to wear what i want.

  • Funny thing about this list is, most of these things are all symptoms of ADHD and Autism. Being late, talking too much, forgetting names, avoiding eye contact, not asking questions (because you started to lose concentration while they were talking, perhaps?)…. i know my neurodivergents out there can agree.:/

  • It’s a huge and great investment when I decided to buy a sewing machine. I discovered that I have a thing for sewing and when I find clothes online that I like (the style and cut), I sew my own clothes. Thank you, Ashley!

  • I’ve personally never had a style or anything that was actually mine, so I decided to change it and start finding clothes that really suit me. This video will reaaaally help me achieving this “goal” soo thank you thank you thank you! <3

  • I want to be all the styles at once, like egirl+soft girl+anime style+cottage core+that school girl style with cute skirts and sweaters etc…

  • I watched this and now I wear what I want and I never get harsh words thrown at me I used to get bullied and I was insecure to wear no e stuff but watching this video made me able to wear what I want u made my life very easy I love u so much thanks

  • this video helps me a lot actually:>
like before i felt like it was useless but now she made me understand that trying on different outfits to practice is good
    i love you girl

  • My current style is dressing like a middle school boy in gym shorts and t-shirts all year round I think I may be the exception to not completely starting from scratch

  • Honestly, any type of clothing suit me even tho im extremely short and i can make stuff work but the problem is that i like trying new styles and dont like to fixate on one specific style
It all just depends on my mood ya know.

  • I once found a sweater that I fell in love with and then I wore it and was essentially bullied and told I looked like a grandma. Isn’t school fun?

  • I once found a sweater that I fell in love with and then I wore it and was essentially bullied and told I looked like a grandma. Isn’t school fun?

  • Literally subscribing because you made a point to acknowledge that Instagram causes us to compare ourselves to others in a bad way. Good on you!!!

  • Followed your diet plan, lost 30 pounds, now my clothes are all baggy. Ya, I said it. It’s all your fault I’m dressed sloppy. Thanks again my friend.

  • “Head and shoulders above your competition”…. And speaking about your head and shoulders, make sure that your skin is super smooth with some Tiege

  • I disagree with the better dresser get the job when I went for my first interview I did not even wear a tie or jacket, not even nice shoes. I got the job because I have a brain. the guys that dress smart was idiots

  • Don’t give a shit, but at the same time care, be friendly and assume she likes you, say no when a no is needed, leave in the high point of the conversation, bla bla bla, that stufff

  • Ok I thought the mac palette said “pussy princess” for about a millisecond before you read it, and when you said my exact thoughts I laughed so hard that a tear came out of my eye. Omg

  • hey Aaron i really enjoy your videos i just want to know your thoughts on tracksuits. I am a teen and i love tracksuits(legs) and normal tshirts. I feel like it fits me well but I am not alpha enough. Hope you see this 😉

  • Alpha I invited her to my house to smoke weed cuz she likes that but she has a bf for like 4 years you think she’s down to smash or atleast is this considered a date?

  • I’m sorry to be a hater, but these tips seem kinda… arbitrary. I’m not a rider on the non-verbal hype train (though I understand the comment about “ornamentation”). If you could provide some links to the actual sources, Vanessa, that would be helpful to me in understanding why these tips actually have the positive effects you describe.

Ivan

  • If you feel good inside and you are relaxed and friendly and not noisy or showing off you WILL create a good impression. Simple as that

  • I love this. I am a junior high teacher and while my school is allowing more and more jeans days, my co-teachers tend to dress more casual. However, I love dressing chic and classy, especially because I am a young teacher and it gives me confidence

  • This is the best video ever!!! I love that you just show when things are ridiculous. This whole video makes me love you so much.

  • I love that you hated every part of this look, but you still laugh through it and POSTED IT! Thank you for the giggle, and always being real. Your adorable personality shines through that terrible eyeliner. LOL <3

  • I love that you hated every part of this look, but you still laugh through it and POSTED IT! Thank you for the giggle, and always being real. Your adorable personality shines through that terrible eyeliner. LOL <3

  • This video made me laugh my ass off. I dont know if anyone else sees it, but you made yourself look like that actress Kate Hudson, lol

  • i am dying at your eyeliner!!! laughed way too hard haha. i can’t believe mac released that. i can barely do my eyeliner nice with a felt tip haha

  • my dude had swag, looks, charm i think he even used Tiege Hanley lol, but seroulsy dude he acted like a brat, Game over mario was down and outta there! asap!

  • Is it bad that I actually like the super thick liner on her? Totally Bridgette Bordeaux (so wrong) or like a old school Bond girl!

  • Love this video! It’s hilarious and it’s great how honest you are with your reactions to each of the products and how they perform!!

  • Even though you had trouble with the wig and the manufacturer of the wig you still look fierce in it!! I wish I could pull off that lip color!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

  • SHE’S PERFECT! I’ve been learning English and here I can practice my English and get more information about humans behavior, which I like!! Thank you from Brazil

  • I looked at the back of my closet one day to see what I was no longer wearing and I saw a bunch of creams and peach coloured tops. I was mind blown . It was as if I had been subconsciously eliminating things I didn’t like.

  • Tulsi Gabbard will be the next president!!! Took me 10 secs to find this!!! Now remember this and come like this comment after next year’s election!!!

  • The first impression I got was not authentic. Too many over exaggerated hand gestures. This whole thing seems way too dramatic. Factor that into your algorithm.

  • Yeah… not very helpful for individuals with social anxiety, or just straight anxiety. I won’t pretend to be someone I’m not and you shouldn’t push people to be inauthentic.

  • I like Vanessa videos so helpful I have increased my level of charisma. Happy for you, you looking beautiful as you gained little weigh

  • I like Vanessa videos so helpful I have increased my level of charisma. Happy for you, you looking beautiful as you gained little weigh

  • You totally got the job… 7:40🙂 Great tips, Bethany! Anyone watching can apply these points without feeling lost or overwhelmed or not addressed. Thank you, Shannon A.:)

  • Thanks Vanessa for sharing it. I try keeping your insights in mind when I carry myself around at work. I need to practice controlling my hand gestures but for some reason I end-up putting my hands together on the table, in pockets, etc. Any tips on how to improve hand gestures during business communication to exude confidence, get acknowledgement, and be likeable? Thank you!

  • Vanessa, another great video!!! I love your bullet points. I will first be using the self-evaluation for myself and also suggesting our leadership team add this video to our leadership training!

  • Literally subscribing because you made a point to acknowledge that Instagram causes us to compare ourselves to others in a bad way. Good on you!!!

  • alpha,
with all the videos on how to dress to impress how about a video or two on how to keep those clothes in pristine condition and maybe some mens fashion 101 videos

  • Another one I’d like to add is using cuss words. It can make you seem arrogant or even unintelligent. You should give the other person enough time to see whether they’re comfortable with that sort of language too.

  • Another one I’d like to add is using cuss words. It can make you seem arrogant or even unintelligent. You should give the other person enough time to see whether they’re comfortable with that sort of language too.

  • I always seem to instantly forget someone’s name when meeting them. It’s not that I don’t care and I don’t mean to. I’m going to try to start remembering to say their name back from now on and see if it helps.

  • Urghh, I really am the worst at making eye contact, I mean, really2 bad at making eye making eye contact. Instead of making eye contact I always just look at their face. Hmm.. How do I avoid from voiding eye contact?

  • Funny thing about this list is, most of these things are all symptoms of ADHD and Autism. Being late, talking too much, forgetting names, avoiding eye contact, not asking questions (because you started to lose concentration while they were talking, perhaps?)…. i know my neurodivergents out there can agree.:/

  • I don’t know if there’s a lady version of your channel. I’m a lady and I’m hooked on your videos. You’re great at what you do. I don’t know if you would ever consider doing videos for ladies, but if you did I would definitely be a customer.

  • Loved that thanks I watched it with my husband and it spoke to both of us. Love how style is how one expresses who one is! You’re a lovely presenter

  • A lot of these types of videos really only talk about pieces that I would consider to be a bit more formal/chic and I love how you addressed that your personal style has to reflect your comfort level and lifestyle! Thanks!!

  • I personally like it when people have long stories to tell me. Means they’ll do must of the talking while all I have to do is just listen and nod.
