Finding a good certified personal trainer One of biggest mistakes guys make when choosing a personal fitness trainer is to approach the search with vague ideas of what to expect and without. After you find a personal trainer, work together to set realistic, measurable goals so you are able to evaluate if the sessions are working, suggests Briganti. There will be good and bad days during your journey, but “if you aren’t enjoying the sessions or you feel it isn’t in line with the goals you asked for, speak up and let us know,” says.

Studies have found that people tend to make very similar mistakes during their strength training regimen, which usually remain unnoticed. But it is important to figure out these mistakes in order to avoid injury during your training sessions. Here is a list of the most common strength training mistakes that should be—and can be—avoided: 1.

Being an elite-level online fitness coach on your topic isn’t the same as being a great offline personal trainer. In rare cases they go hand-in-hand, but most of the time they don’t. I’ve known many brilliant personal trainers who’ve had so much support and motivation to share with their 1-1 clients. A good personal trainer wants to find the newest, most effective way to take you from point A to point B. 20. You’re Not Getting Results.

If your personal trainer isn’t getting you results, they suck. That’s the be all and end all. This is the biggest metric that matters.

Today, more than 30 years later, everyone knows about personal trainers. There are more than 300,000 of them in the U.S., and the Bureau of Labor Statistics expects a 10 percent increase by 2026. After all, the number of college graduates with exercise science degrees has increased dramatically this decade, as well..

But make no mistake, a college degree doesn’t even guarantee you an entry. Not every gym will require you to be a member to use their personal training services (although the cost might be higher for non-members). Contact the facility to learn more about their policies. Word-of-mouth is also a good way to find a trainer, since it helps to get feedback from someone who has already used the trainer’s services. “A good personal trainer should be able to give you an outline of each step in the process of getting from where you are now to where you want to be.” Another big role that personal.

“Keep your cardio and strength training separate.” 5. Thinking cardio is enough. Many people think they need only a cardiovascular exercise program. “We begin losing muscle at age 30,” says. It’s easy to forget that it is a personal trainer’s job to encourage and act interested in you, but they do that for all of their clients, not just you.” Martin affirms, “Most trainers are.

  • I literally just tried a HIIT and had to take a rest day cause my legs just decided not to work… Guess I’ll have to find something else

  • The HIIT one is true. I developed an allergic reaction from that…(IK sounds strange) At first, I thought it was from the nuts…but then again I have eaten nuts my whole life…and I was never nut-allergic. But I stopped eating that. My allergy remained calm for a few I couldn’t do any exercise. When I recovered I started doing HIIT again along with other exercises and my allergy came back…so I’m guessing it’s from the HIIT.

  • Have been working out for awhile, it’s discouraging not seeing much results. Coming back here to remind myself to pay more attention to have proper postures…

  • Chloe: Stop eating junk food

Me earlier today: ate a bag of chips and two cookies for lunch cus I was focused on working out and forgot to eat

  • The hard thing about the breathing technique is that when you’re already exhausted, you instinctively catch your breath while doing the exercises. Especially if it’s your first day starting any program of Chloe. My tip is don’t try to finish fast even so if you feel like you have to pause in between of 2-3 exercises, then pause. The goal should be is executing the exercise precisely,

well that’s just my opinion after one week of doing her 2 weeks shred workout.

  • Mistake #1 Doing HIIT (HIIT is great but it is not for everybody. If your body does not respond to a HIIT session, you get sick, leave it.)
Mistake #2 Walking 5 miles a day, everyday (Take proper precautions like proper stretching before and after, even if you’re walking.)
Mistake #3 Training the abs as the internet said (The internet said that ‘abs are made in the kitchen eat clean and you’ll get in the kitchen’. Not true. (Lol really? You fell for that?) Do your ab exercises.)

  • After years of plateau, you gave me the progress I have been seeking. I shed 2 inches off my belly fat already with your help! I am almost done with the 2 week shred and after that, I am on to another challenge

  • It was really very helpful but I’m 15 year old I don’t know about dieting much so I want your help for getting those flat abs…. Please kindly help me

  • If you want to learn how to build your business… hands down, I recommend Stu at I took his e-class and he is the real deal. It’s some of the best information I’ve gotten on marketing, lead generating, how to approach new clients and how to keep clients so you don’t have a lot of turnover. He talks about getting started as a trainer at ground zero too and it would have been really helpful if I was just starting out.

Stu also has a lot of free articles that are extremely (like extremely extremely) helpful… but I would do his e-class if he still offers it.

  • so I’m skinny with a high metabolism but i want to have a flat stomach and some booty (but without muscle lookin legs) and i don’t wanna loose weight can someone please recommend workout videos or moves or anything please

  • Great video. Even when I trained with a PT, she rarely pushed me to RPE 8/9, so looking forward to focussing in on that when I can get back to the gym Any advice on how to progress when managing a high volume of a lighter weight but fail early whenever increasing the weight by a minimal amount?

  • Thank you! I’m doing weight loss as well as lifting…. I hear so many ways to go about it. It can be confusing and overwhelming. I’m using in the gym for a hour to a hour and a half. Cardio, functional weights, free weights, then 10 mins of cardio again. I just don’t wanna be flabby for my end results of weight loss. I eventually want to body build in the end. You have a new subbing ❤️

  • I’ve been doing Chloe Ting’s workouts for a month now and I was not able to lay my back flat and I didn’t know how to do the up and down planks but now I can lay my back flat and I can now do them planks

  • Chloe Ting:Breathing technique
Me:Starts to breathe like zenitsu from demon slayer

sorry just an anime weeb here who has bloated by watching anime all day and came to my saviour chloe ting because she is my hero who told me…….YOU CAN BE A HERO……. okay I should really stop now by the way that was a mha referane if it was not clear enough SHUTUP ME

  • As a new personal trainer who doesn’t feel completely confident in my ability to offer the best to clients, this video was really reassuring to me that I’m doing the right things. Can’t wait to see more of this type of content!

  • The pasrt about how intense it should be and “could I do one more?” Was honestly really helpful.
Personally, I’ve probably just ever gone to a five because people say not to push too hard when you’re new… so I’ve never really gone to the point of “fuck me this is hard”.

  • What do you mean by keep your abs engaged or you will get bloated abs? I’ve never heard that before. I’ve heard that you want to keep abs engaged to prevent low back injury but what is a bloated ab? Can you explain the science behind this? Thank you.

  • You are the best! Thank you so much I haven’t worked out in a minute! I do greatly appreciate your advice and consistency! You’re awesome!

  • 00:43 Mistake #1: HIIT
3:06 Mistake #2: Walking a mile everyday without stretching first
5:39 Mistake #3: Trying to get abs by only eating clean aka without ab exercises
8:20 Bonus Mistake: Having snacks even though she didn’t have as much self control
    You’re welcome 😉

  • Thank you sooo much for making us realize that exersing not only gives us toned body but also makes us feel good about ourselves…Love you sooo much❤️❤️❤️

  • i was noticing some change when doing your 2 week ab shred, but i always looked bloated around the bottom, i think i understand why now. engage your core!!

  • I have a question on the body fat percentage. I did some research and found that for females, ab definition requires less than the normal healthy amount of 20%. It differs between body types, so from 14 to 19% body fat. I am a mesomorph. My scale measures body fat based on the information put into it manually and the moisture in your feet. It says that I am 14.9 % body fat, yet I do ab exercises and compound stuff and cardio and I eat clean and I’ve been doing it for a while now and not only do I get bloated very easily, but I can’t see any definition. I’ve tried to get my percentage lower, but it just isn’t happening and I’ve been resisting the urge to stop eating again, cuz even at a calorie deficit, it’s not working. Any advice on that?

  • Thank u so much for this vid! I really needed this because I wasn’t getting results and didn’t feel burn in my abs. Now I know why and I will use ur tips the next time I workout!

  • What do I do when my neck hurts while I’m doing ab workouts? Like when I do crunches, I know you’re not supposed to use your neck but even when I try to engage my core my neck still feels strained.

  • Fantastic video man, I needed to hear a lot of this. What’s your advice for getting hired at a Crunch gym? I live in a small town, and there one of two of the bigger franchise gyms. I interviewed once, was asked, “how would you train older clients” gave a scrambled answer and probably didn’t show confidence. These guys are always hiring, but they give off the vibe that they are exclusive. Any advice is appreciated

  • This is my first time watching your channel. I am LITERALLY CRYING. You look so beautiful and so in shape. I weigh 215 lbs and all of my weight is in my stomach and arms. So know you had the same struggle is so INSPIRING! My 1st name is Fayth but after watching this video, I have HOPE now. Thank you

  • Hello koboko, I love the way Ur.u giving me positive vibes though.lov u,n by the way I m Ur new sub.LV from nepal

  • I am overweight, not by much, if I lose 2.7 kgs I officially enter the normal weight zone. But i do workout 5 times a week and eat healthy, and I do HIIT and I really like it. It doesn’t make me feel weird after or anything. But I get it it’s not foe everyone.

  • My first time to see your channel and I subscribed after watching this video. You seem naturally fun and authentic. Looking forward to more informative videos that are not an hour long

  • I remember my very first time going to the gym, it took me an hour to build up the courage to go and then another hour in the parking lot because I was so anxious and so afraid of embarrassing myself. Now, the gym feels like my safe space.

  • You said right about The Mahatma GandhiHe did Dandi March, the Salt Satyagraha walking 10 miles a day for 24 days for the freedom of Indian people.
Coming to your video, you are adorable and innocent, honest and hard working!!! Keep it up!!!

  • Will cardio help me lose weight or fat? I’ve been doing a Push/Pull Legs and eating high protein, high fat, low carb, no sugar and my weight won’t budge, and i cant lose the pudge around my middle. So naturally, I start side eyeing the elliptical and stair stepper

  • The thing is, I can’t train SUPER hard because I’m quad/hamstring dominant and if I wanna feel my glutes more than my legs I need a lighter weight in order to not lose mind/muscle connection:(

  • Love love love watching your videos! I’m new to your channel and have binged pretty much all of them over the last two weeks (thank iso). Ice now subscribed to your channel so I don’t miss anything. I wanted to know.. What kind of fitness tracker do you use? I’m looking to upgrade mine. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. It’s much appreciated to someone like me who’s new to fitness.

  • I’m underweight. On the border I guess. My body fat percentage is at maybe 14 or 15 percent, MAYBE. I’ve been working out for months, and I practically see almost no results. Do I have to bulk up first? Do I still have to do a lot of cardio to burn those fat rests that might be there? Can someone help me pls?

  • yes…i actually held my breath for 1 and half weeks of the 3 weeks lean arm program… now im slightly better at the breathing technique though

  • sad face.. im still hoping this is some sort of genius master plan to put an absurd amount of mass on the ass with the fianal objective to get lean again in the near future.. oterwise this is bullshit.

  • Finally…I am not the only one..I get sick after HIIt or intense workout myself. I have an auto immune issue so I realized I have slow things down…if I slow down and workout.. it’s all good

  • Chloe should you eat less than 1200cal a day and have a heavy workout routine to have a flat belly??
I’m currently not eating empty calories but I don’t think I’m having enough carbs in my diet because I have low strength in my muscles to do the workouts HELP!!

  • I don’t know, I think that woman in my family have such skin on belly, I do a lot of expertise and I have muscles I see them when I vacuum my stomach, but it is cover with skin I don’t think it’s fat cose even when I was 45 kg it was the same when I ate anything I look like pregnant, my grandmother laught that’s is a bag for children but I hate it, whatever I do even when I am thin I have ugly belly

  • Hii! Ive been doing ab exercises for around 3 weeks to a month with a small change to my diet but i never saw any change what so ever to my body and im wondering if its because of my age (started at 12 stopped at 13-current age), is it my body, or was i probably doing something wrong

  • Hi stephanie this was very informative.
I was wondering if you had advice for people like myself who of course want to push hard in the gym but hold back because for me I work as a massage therapist in a spa which on a busy day can be extremely hard on the body. I usually try go after work around 7pm and I love it but there are times when I know I’m not giving it my all but it’s because I dont want burn out as I need my body for work too…if that makes sense.
    Thanks again,from Ireland

  • I agree with everything besides switching things up. You should always try new excersizes and shock your muscles. It’s a good way to find new favorites and is the best way to stay well rounded and learn!

  • Please tell me she wasn’t locking her knees on the machine. I don’t remember what the leg machine is called but I saw a video on someone locking knees and having it break please be safe

  • I been working out for 2 and a half months and only lost 3 pounds(hate it here) and I tried fasting and not eating more than twice a day nothing worked

  • I’m doing her two weeks shred program right now plus intermittent fasting and I’m already vegetarian but it’s only been one day you know and I don’t see results and that’s really unmotivating because I know that’s how it works naturally but when you automatically don’t lose all your stomach fat or you don’t have the slim legs and you don’t have abs after one day it’s really really unmotivating

  • Can u make your makeup or skincare routine video? Or your pampering or haircare routine video plzzz lots of love from me…

  • Me: Watching the video feeling accomplished after doing day 8 of the 2 weeks abs..

Also Me: Ate a huge piece of cake before my workout.

  • 5:19 Is this why also, when I don’t go out walking for A VERY LONG TIME I’m talking for +3 months and then I start walking the skin of my ankles start to peel off and I get injured so much to the point where I could barely walk, every time it’s killing me…

  • I did full body workout for 1 month, turns out it made my GERD worse. I have to quit working out even though i don’t want to, but i will start walking instead for 1 hour daily.
I am hoping it works for me.

  • It would be really awesome if you provide those programs for free. Because I don’t think anyone wants to spend their money on an exercise which we don’t know will work or not….

  • I struggle with diastasis recti DR and would like to see more workouts for females who have this condition. I subscribed to you due to seeing a DR workout but only one has been posted.

  • this is so true.. this is why i’d rather train alone or in a group session and not with a bunch of friends. i see this every time i go to the gym people writing emails while doing legs or being on the phone to someone for 1h or stopping and talking about god know what in between every other rep

looking fabulous btw:D i totally agree you should ditch the baggy tops and happy new year to you and Jeff <3<3<3

  • You came across my recommendations today so I took a look see at the video. I already knew all the things you said, but it never hurts to hear it again. Thank you!

  • I see this all the time in the gym, girls sitting around on their phones or barely breaking a sweat the entire time. When I’m in the gym, i’m not their to play. I’m a grunting, breathless, sweaty mess and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

  • If i’m looking cute while doing the reps, it means i’m not working out hard enough. That’s my personal metric! awesome video thank you!

  • No se como buscar tus retos en youtube si me pudieses enviar el link, los retos de abdominales no se si son todos los dias o dia por medio

  • Thanks for the inspo. The lack of confidence one really hit… I’m in city so my gym is usually crowded but I’m starting to get used to going out of my comfort zone and just trying my best despite what anyone things.

  • Im a new Subscriber and iM ALSO STARTING MY WORKING OUT today. thanks so much for the tips. lol. i keep my snacks in the trunk also.

  • Really helpful advice, I also just made 3 Beginner Gym Mistakes You Need to Avoid video and that is from my own experience.
I wish I knew therm when I started, in the beginning, it would save so much time and money for me.
    Have a blessing day folks.

  • Thank you so much for all your advice! I have watched all of your videos and have learned so much! I have a question for you. I am currently studying to become a PT (passed my level 2). I have a job waiting for me once qualified and my question is how do I build up a clientele at a self employed gym that’s private and for only people who are coming in to train with their trainers?

  • Plantar fasciitis…stopped my running. PCOS makes you gain weight in your belly and arms. It also explains why some workouts won’t work as well.

  • I feel like crying everytime I do exercises of Chloe Ting or Heather Roberston. I was terrified of starting every workout. It just didn’t spark joy. I would be exhausted the entire day and i wouldn’t be able to do any tasks. I would just lie on my bed and groan in pain. So i decided to just walk 10k steps everyday. I’m doing IF alongside and I’m already feeling the difference.
    I enjoy walking.
Yeah.. following workout videos is not something I’m going to do anymore. It’s not for me.

  • Hello. Can anyone tell me, can I do plank (as long as my spine is in corectly position) because I have herniating, bulging disc in lower back area? I am not hard “case” with that diagnose. I have a lot weight, so how to lose it, expecially in belly area if i dont do exercise. So can anyone know? Thanks, and sorry for my bad english. I’m Europian girl.

  • The thing is:
I can eat only one meal a day because I don’t get hungry that easily and if I smell food I’m already full but I eat because I’m bored and that even tho I have hobbies etc

  • I did start with HIIT and I gave up because my body was not athletic. I found your videos and started to do small workouts. I came from not being able to hold a plank for a second to doing a 40 second plank and others

  • Ohhh my goddd I was totally doing the “pulling the back of the head” thing with crunches
Well I’m glad I’m aware of it now and won’t do it anymore

  • This was all really well said. I’m fairly lean and averagely fit/toned if averagely is even a word. My tummy especially is a body part that i’m most self conscious about, and now a days is slowly trying to get away from me. I didn’t actually think that people took “get your abs in the kitchen” literally? I think that maintaining good health has to do with both work outs and what you eat. You can’t just do one, and expect to be healthy inside AND out. I lol’d at the cookie part. Stay healthy everyone!

  • Getting sick actually makes since. I love to dance at church and sometimes I would dance during praise and worship which was about 30-40 minutes long. The next day I would get a stuffy nose, headaches, and weakness more than I would during practices. I guess because I was going so hard. Won’t stop dancing during praise and worship but I’ll just go a little easier.

  • The advices are great but it’d be much better if you just show how you do the exercises properly and show also the mistakes. Watching so many people doing these exercises at some point caused that I got irritated. Too much information and none video corresponding to it. 😉

  • I’ve started dieting and I still have some chocolate cookies from before dieting. I’m afraid I’ll eat them all one day. I’m amazed I haven’t eaten them already

  • a healthy, beautiful woman training hard at the gym purely to be STRONG <3 i love it! i also follow your all in journey and i'm in the middle of it myself. I also LOVE the gym! thanks!

  • Hey guys!!! I’m new to YouTube and just made my FIRST WORKOUT VIDEO!!! My anxiety is sooooo bad because I’m so nervous but F it! Just trying to get some feedback for my next one!!❤️❤️

  • Turn on the subtitles and turn down the sound to get a video about how to get the snacks you want. I am laughing so hard. It also mistook her saying flat abs for ‘flaps and apps’. It seems that the subtitles wants us to do the absolute opposite to what Chloe Ting is telling us. Conspiracy!

  • I’m so glad you’re talking about RPE. I used to gym it twice a day, doing 1-2 hours of strength training after work, but I never saw any changes in the way my muscles were looking. I realized after a while that I was afraid of embarrassing myself by making ugly faces. Now, I know that I need to push myself till maximum fugly face is achieved and then the work out was sufficient. I also do reps until I physically fail to get in another full rep. So I don’t plan on hitting a goal on a number of reps, I plan on repping until my muscles can’t do it anymore. I have my boyfriend spot me on lifts where I’m in a vulnerable position because I know for a fact, that last rep will be a failure. Plus that failure gives me a marking point for a hurdle to get over next time. And every time I think I can’t add any more weight, I add 5 pounds and just attempt a rep so my body knows what that added weight feels like.

  • Last year I overexercised so much that my abs turned into a six-pack?? My goal was initially to get a flat stomach, but after having that six-pack I thought I’d lose the extra muscle if I stopped doing ab exercising, I just got an extra layer of fat now and I really don’t know what to do anymore lol. I just wanted 11 abs:^;

  • I dunno if i can do planks at all since i have bilateral wrist tendinitis And tennis elbow in my left arm…. everything else you mention i will try.

  • I also have tried doing the hiit workouts and feel so tierd after that I don’t want to even hear the word work out for the next MONTH jajaja but on the other hand I do abb workouts and other slower pace workout and I don’t have that effect. Thanks for addresing this It has been a strugle for a long time and I hear other pleople talking about how great it is, but it just doesn’t work for me. And the cookie thing its REAL OK with me the problems are brownies OMG I say to my self oh I will get some for the kids YEAHHHH THE KID MEE!! I can’t buy them at all the trunk of the car is not going to work for me!

  • Great list! I feel like it’s worth mentioning that HIIT cardio has repeatedly been shown to burn fat and calories more effectively than steady-state, and often combines resistance training with increased HR.

  • I can tell that you’re a Nigerian. Your YouTube channel name made me laugh . I don’t know if anyone else will understand the meaning of your channel’s name.

  • Hiit sucks! Obv it is effective for ppl who are into that… they weren’t for me either. They made me constipated and that is not cool with me! Once I stopped doing them I could poo again and that is a must!

  • 1. Don’t push your booty up in the air while doing planks.

    2. Keep lower back flat against the floor to target the abs while doing leg drops.

    3. Don’t pull on your heads or necks using your arms as it could not only cause back pain but also not target the abs making the whole exercise absolutely useless. (cross em hands over your chest)

    4. Do step jacks instead of jumping jacks. If you do the latter, make sure there’s a little bend while landing so as to absorb the shock of landing.

    5. Do cardio atleast 2-3 days a week.

  • I have tried out these tips and I can already tell the difference. I made the decision to put my phone on do not disturb, so now my gym time is my relax time.

  • I typically weight train about 5 days a week. Before each work out I get on the stair master for about 10 minutes. I also will do some jump ropes in between each workout. Is that too much cardio?

  • You’re so funny and sharing tips thank you . Please where can I buy your black/pink leggings in 0,58 min? I just bought two with the actual sales.

  • Just Found you here on YouTube and I really need to loose 15lbs I’ve gained Weight During this Quarantine due tome Stress and Anxiety. I’m Confident that I can take it off in the next few Months. Thanks for your Tutorials.

  • I relate to this so much. Everytime I do HIIT, I would end up in bed for a whole week. Years later, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia.

  • I always do a an workout in the night and then in the morning it looks like the workout paid off but my mom forces me to eat a lot and by the end of breakfast I’m bloated so I have to do another workout to burn off that fat

  • I have a question thats been in my head for a while, my physics teacher once told my class to wait until their 18 to start fat burning workouts because our bodies aren’t fully developed. I’m 15 should I do lighter workouts like just walking and getting 60 min of exercise each day? Can I do stomach workouts? Also what could I eat that could help me stay healthy especially for a developing teenage girl like me?

  • That thing you mentioned about separated gut from something something due to child birth… I do have that, so what exercises exactly I should avoid?

  • Can you please make a video about, losing period because of working out and how to start working out again (if you stop working out to get your period back)?

  • I just want to get a flatter stomach and lose the fat in that area but all the exercises I’ve been doing are for abs and claiming to get flatter stomach. Can someone please suggest one only for belly fat not abs?

  • Oh, this actually explains why I felt terrible the first week after I started working out! One of the things I did was a HIIT workout and I didn’t think much of it because I had done it multiple times before and felt fine! When I did it again recently after not working out and being really inactive and stuff for a long time, I got a bad headache (accompanied with dizziness) for about a solid week after. I eventually even got a feverthis only happened at night as well. I don’t know if maybe my immune system got week and I really WAS sick for a week or what, but I’m glad it’s over and I can get back into working out.

  • I am a pear shape and short when I use to train ( I am now fat but pretend I’m not )
My thighs would become more bulky but that wasn’t the problem. The problem was the muscle would overlap where my knee cap is. It looked awful. What causes that and how can I get rid of it. As I plan to get fit again. I also like you store fat in my arms big time. Yours looking amazing.. Well jealous.

  • I think it’s important to take note of the fact that beginners really don’t feel the abs in abs workouts for some time. In most fitness videos it just says “feel the abs, focus on them” so I think that causes a lot of confusion…thanks for the great video!!

  • When she said she’s addressing the elephant in the room. I was super offended. I mean I know I’m fat but no need for that kind of speech
