How Nerd Fitness Gave Me Super Powers. By Steve Kamb • Last Updated: November 14, 2011 • 48 comments. This is a guest post by Nerd Fitness community member Jessica Broughton. She has lost over 65 pounds since beginning her weight loss journey back in 2007, and more recently has lost 20 inches off her body since September (dang!). Maybe you haven’t quite figured out your super power yet.

Luckily, we live in a world where anything is possible, so you can decide what you want to have as a super power, and then go get it. You can even make up your own epic destiny as to how you GOT that power. My story: I wanted to become the go-to nerd for fitness, diet, and travel.

Today, let’s delve deep into the nerd aspect of Nerd Fitness and turn life into a giant role-playing game. anything is possible. Maybe you’re an elf (incredibly thin) and you want to be a super-strong Warrior. You’re going to need to spend months and months eating insane amounts of calories and lifting heavy weights to get results, but.

In Heather’s words: “Today I’m super pumped to be sending you a photo of myself in my Nerd Fitness tank top (woohoo!) taken two days ago on the top of Machu Picchu mountain which is 600 vertical meters above the Machu Picchu ruins. You can see the ruins behind me to the right of my hip where the light green “saddle” between the. A radioactive spider bit Peter Parker that fateful day and gave him a slew of powers including super agility, spider-sense, and the ability to crawl walls.

Wes Cassady was a construction foreman who was bitten by a radioactive rabbit and gained superhuman speed, superhuman leg strength, and the ability to sense when he was being watched (but no. I recently had a conversation with a long-time member of the Nerd Fitness community. He let me know that he was disappointed in Nerd Fitness, because after four years he was still unhealthy and overweight because I hadn’t written anything that had inspired him to change yet. I knew the guy well enough and replied, “Hey man, we all have baggage. I need to apologize.

As of today, I have published 370 articles on Nerd Fitness. I’ve taught you how to do push ups, how to do a pull up, how to eat better, how to become a super hero, how to become an assassin, and countless other things. Despite all of that, there’s one thing I’ve never written about, and it truly ashames me to admit it. 12 Super Powers You Actually Have (And How to Use Them) 1. Prevent pain. The next time you get a bump or bruise, try coughing.

This act of forceful pressure activates your body’s vagus nerve. Coughing or bearing down while holding your breath is a way to activate your vagus nerve. A co-worker told me about Nerd Fitness and the Art of Manliness. Being a fellow chemist and Nerd Fitness rebel, she recognized that I would appreciate the site and how helpful it could be for me.

I remember the first article I read was Joe’s transformation story. That article very much inspired me to begin a new lifestyle. Super Power Quiz jrecla 2020-04-09T12:47:48-07:00. Are You Ready to Discover Your Super Powers?

  • Guess what i did? Tonight i did situps pushups situps again and pushups again lifted my weight and in the middle i did it 102 times ONLY in the middle!

  • Caramba, entrei aqui pra assistir pensando que não entenderia muito do que ele fala, mas tem legenda em português. Thank you, obrigado! <3

  • Of course its dont work. Because you dint go fight monster.
So now pls go fight a lion or other animal with bare hand. See if its work

  • So i did saitama’s training for 3years straight now im bald and every time
i use my phone i need to buy a ne one.And when everytime i have s*x
i need to go to the hospital.

  • I always considered the surface area of objects at my old job when moving them with a forklift. I would always use a pallet because I was worried the forks would puncture or damage the object. We would move large tables, dressers and concrete fountain parts, some would weigh between 150 to 300lbs. My old boss was well, dumb as hell. He and others never listen to me and would damaged or break merchandise all the time.

  • ok applying newtons law then wouldn’t that mean that when you punch someone when you go into the ground then wouldn’t you jut go in a few inchis?

  • Anyone remember the sega genisis plug and play videogame? I had one but no matter who I ask NO ONE remembers it andnits making belive i got some magic console from the heavens that only I got and no one else lmao

  • My hair is about as long as it’ll get ;0 from a tolerable standpoint.

Accident happened during 720 double. Still haven’t tried that trick again heh.

  • Using Science to disprove something that is fictional is in of itself scientifically stupid.
I put it next to ”The Earth Is Flat’ and ‘Dinosaurs were on Noah’s Ark’ kind of logic.

  • strength is base on control. you are much more stronger than egg but you can still hold it without breaking it. super strength is not big deal but it become big deal when you act like a superhero in comic book. The most comics, movies were not realistic and it all fictions. But the strength with good control can make many things. You can win every sport base on Strength. If you have good control about your strength, you can win all sport. In real life, you will face many problems about your strength because you are playing with very fragile kids human body person. You need more tough tools for you to live. Money is not a problem to buy or make those when you can punch down Mayweather by using one punch. I still want super strength more after watching this video. I was face about my strength when I was little kid. when I am At the age of 10, I am far more stronger than average kid of my hometown. I broke every toys I touch. Most of the kid didn’t want to play with me because I injured them a lot when playing football or anything play with group. I broke many toys and feel lonely. But I tried to master my strength and get control. When you get control, strength is very useful things. Using strength need thinking, how to handle and how to use it. Learn or train yourself to to get control. It will happen all the things you talk about in this video when you don’t use your brain. Have strength and use with brain.

  • 4:50 that´s bullshit, if i punch “superman” upwards i will face ressistance yes, but i will not be buried into the ground, because superman isn´t heavy enough to make my impulse slow that much. When a martial artist kicks another one three meters away, he doesn´t fly three meters in the other direction… AND 10:00 if you have super strenght, that means your muscles are also strong enough to endure said strenght, ergo, giving you enhansed resistance and bonus enhansed speed… Stamina and reflexes are another thing.

  • With regard to the plane catch, what if Superman was to fly backwards and go in the direction of the plane, but still apply light pressure with his forearms? Would that make a difference?

P.S. that was Superman Returns, not Superman III

  • Of course its dont work. Because you dint go fight monster.
So now pls go fight a lion or other animal with bare hand. See if its work

  • Wow a LOT of comments about how I “have never heard of car jacks.” I’m addressing this in the next vlog but yes, I do in fact know what car jacks do/are. And yes, I’ve used them. In the episode I say, “Cars are made out of pretty strong stuff these days, so grab them in the right place, like Superman on the cover of Action Comics #1…” Look close at the cover he’s grabbing the car at the jack points. I then say the car might only bend or creak in a way you didn’t expect. THAT was my acknowledgement of the issue. I didn’t say that picking up a car at the perfect points would destroy it. Hope this clears things up. Thanks for watching! KH

  • That’s why in smallville Clark just super speeds in and lightly pushes the bad guys, but the time he’s flicked away bullets the bad guys just fly across the room and nearly die

  • But how do boxers amd fighters deal with their ab regimen?
The best ones really did hundteds of ab exercises a day?
Yeah some of them have health issues but I haven’t heard of spine issues.

  • You can lift 1kg, 10 or 30, or squeeze a half orange, a pingpong ball, etc, but you apply a different amount of force, so it will be if you had superstrengh, like the mountain from got can be extremely gently if he wants but can destroy aswell (the dude irl not that stupid incest tv show)

  • My hair is about as long as it’ll get ;0 from a tolerable standpoint.

Accident happened during 720 double. Still haven’t tried that trick again heh.

  • I’m wondering about the whole balanced forces thing.
I know that an equal force will be applied when superman hits someone to the moon, but I always assumed his SUPER STRENGTH helped him absorb all that energy into, let’s just say, his legs.

If he hit someone with 1 mil newtons of force but his legs can easily withstand trillions of newtons without a sweat, how could you say superman WOULDN’T just stay in place as long as he has enough downward force and friction with the ground below.

There are many depictions of the ground cratering as superman knocks beings around. I’m wondering if superman did his best to spread out the forces with his legs, or is simply strong enough to absorb all the kinetic energy.

  • That’s why in smallville Clark just super speeds in and lightly pushes the bad guys, but the time he’s flicked away bullets the bad guys just fly across the room and nearly die

  • If you give a person enough time with any super power they would eventually learn the ability to restrain it. I mean the athlete’s who do 100m sprint don’t walk the shop by being stood still then accidentally hitting top speed. Weight lifters don’t pick up children, pets or anything by planting them firmly into the ceilings. It’s all about restraint.

  • Boku no Hero Academia has the most realistic super strengh. The users get the recoil, theyapllies force by punching to the ground instead “to the moon” and when does, they usually makes it by adjusting an angle that their recoil won’t go the wrong way…

  • “10km everyday is the worst thing you can do” meanwhile I have friends that run 10 miles a day for a short run and some that run 100miles a week

  • In Football (soccer for Americans ) players use a technique to stop a ball by slowly reducing the momentum
So superheroes can do the same

  • Superstrength is a real world phenomenon that science can’t explain. Their excuse is adrenaline but adrenaline is a hormone and can’t cause instant strength.

  • ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten ten

  • Lol all I can think about is somebody getting in a bad mood and start stomping around “okay kids let’s get underneath the table, Timmy down the street is having a temper tantrum”

  • Great to see you getting your game back. If this is sloppy, I can’t wait to see what you can really do. Also, that shirt is pretty sweet.

  • Man but you know if make power whit puntch that mean you also can block power so if you would not lose you strenght after punch you should recist opposite power

  • The thing is, the idea of Super Powers goes beyond what our understanding of Science can explain, by their very nature they go against normal science. Logically though if you had say Super Strength, there undoubtably would be something about your body, your genetic make up, to prevent you from hurting yourself with your own strength.

Same with Teleportation and or Super Speed (even though I’ll admit I haven’t watched those vids), if you can Teleport, your body would be altered in a manner that can safely allow it to happen without any adverse effect to yourself, same with Super Speed, if you gain Super Speed it is understandable that through some method of some kind you would be rendered unaffected by what would normally be so negative about moving so fast, your mind would be faster allowing you to not only react to but perceive objects in your path, and your body would likewise change to accommodate such rapid movement. It is never a matter of just simply getting Super this or Super that without something to protect you from the negative aspects of it, as just as you said, without super durability you’d never be able to punch through a solid brick wall with super strength without hurting yourself.

  • The argument about equal opposite reaction is a bit… redundant, isnt it? A heavyweight UFC fighter doesnt really worry about the reaction through the 3rd law of physics when he roundhouse kicks a dude in the face. Also if we’re out here dealing with normal humans than would punching hard enough to break bone and hence cushion the blow be more than feasible?

  • If you have super strength. Then you also have super durability.

A punch with super strength would tear your arm apart with the force.

Telekinesis is so much better. If your telekinesis had as much power as classic super strength you could avoid all the issues of super strength and have all the benefits

  • Well, with the limits your brain puts on your body, but we can only use 20-30% but with some drugs or adrenalin can push you to 50% and some experiments push people to 100% but they inevitably die within 2 days

  • I’m glad you mentioned the pressure thing, I’ve wondered how superman can lift building’s without going through them like in justice league

  • Why is he always forgetting that with that superpower comes the appropiate control for it? So if you have super strength you have the appropiate control for it.

  • The movie Hancock addressed this a little also there is a episode of Justice league where Superman states that he is “tried of walking through this world like it’s fragile like it’s made of glass” before he beats the living hell out of Darkseid

  • It is easy to break a cinder block with your fist though. Bricks are tougher. If you put them in a wall, well that makes it very hard, because they all transfer the Kinetic energy to the blocks (or bricks) in the wall around them.

  • Using Science to disprove something that is fictional is in of itself scientifically stupid.
I put it next to ”The Earth Is Flat’ and ‘Dinosaurs were on Noah’s Ark’ kind of logic.

  • This video is wrong their is ways super strength can exist where you can do the things he claims you can’t, he isn’t including all factors of the scenario and is only including his interpretation of how that being has super strenght.

  • professor birch:are you sure you want to reset this file because you have started a new one yesterday and you HAVEN’T DONE SHI-

  • I feel like the 3 law of motion doesn’t work how you just explained it. It doesn’t literally propel you in the opposite direction. If you punch a ball, only the ball moves???

  • Great to see you getting your game back. If this is sloppy, I can’t wait to see what you can really do. Also, that shirt is pretty sweet.

  • How to be super strong in REALITY with SCIENCE,

Watch what’s his name again? I forgot I think it was? What was it? Was it something something duh forgot after a big run XD my brain is scattered wait fug wait edit waiaaaaaAAAAAAATTTTTT!,!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Edit-It was AthleanX.com k go watch also,

Do 5-10 push-ups, sit-ups, squats, few laps go run, and then go watch videos to take your creativity above. K bye I wanna be strong too, but it’s pretty hard no motivation but always try to make your own confidence don’t look at others, just use it as a starter but as you go always keep your mind in your self motivation, I hope this is a starter motivation for you start challenging yourself, I may quit a bit but I wan try even harder now after writing this so guys go ahead, also gals bye

KH

  • The movie Hancock addressed this a little also there is a episode of Justice league where Superman states that he is “tried of walking through this world like it’s fragile like it’s made of glass” before he beats the living hell out of Darkseid

  • Hey i have a question if you have super strength then if u punch someone there will be equal and opposite force to you as you say but u have more strength then the person standing in front of you so the opposite force will also applies to the person u punch therefore he will travel double the distance am i correct?

  • You can lift 1kg, 10 or 30, or squeeze a half orange, a pingpong ball, etc, but you apply a different amount of force, so it will be if you had superstrengh, like the mountain from got can be extremely gently if he wants but can destroy aswell (the dude irl not that stupid incest tv show)

  • In Football (soccer for Americans ) players use a technique to stop a ball by slowly reducing the momentum
So superheroes can do the same

  • Then please tell me why are sit upps do important in military training routine.. If that is the worst possiblle one.. I dont get it.. Explain please

  • I don’t think I’ve ever seen a discussion of super strength in context of its impact on its owner’s body: bones, ligaments, tendons, joints, etc.

  • This is the least funny shit I’ve seen all week..

A 30 yr old man saying words aggressively isn’t humor..

  • Boku no Hero Academia has the most realistic super strengh. The users get the recoil, theyapllies force by punching to the ground instead “to the moon” and when does, they usually makes it by adjusting an angle that their recoil won’t go the wrong way…

  • (To the creator/who ever this is directed to from because science.) You may never see this but if you do by some stroke of luck I’d like to make a request and ask if you can make a video on “why you dont want to he a super saiyan” ( or any other level that may be higher ) if you’ve already done this my apologies for asking this is actually the only video I’ve seen lol

  • Why is he always forgetting that with that superpower comes the appropiate control for it? So if you have super strength you have the appropiate control for it.

  • I don’t think I’ve ever seen a discussion of super strength in context of its impact on its owner’s body: bones, ligaments, tendons, joints, etc.

  • I’ve been doing a hundred push ups, sit ups, squats, (excluding the running) for the whole quarantine every day…this video scares me..

  • Superman described it best in the Justice League animated series: “It feels like I’m living in a world made of cardboard, always careful not to break anything.”
In fact, in the same series we get to see a perpetual nightmare of superman and in this nightmare he cannot control his strength, causing him to accidentally destroy buildings he’s in and even accidentally crush people to death when he gives them a hug.

  • ok applying newtons law then wouldn’t that mean that when you punch someone when you go into the ground then wouldn’t you jut go in a few inchis?

  • Obviously the whole point of saitama exercise is to push the human body way past its limit and that’s why his head probably went bald because of the immense stress on his body

  • The most anyone has ever lifted was 17x their body weight. Paul Anderson 163 kg lifted 2840 kg through a back lift. That is still pretty damned impressive, if you ask me.

  • It is easy to break a cinder block with your fist though. Bricks are tougher. If you put them in a wall, well that makes it very hard, because they all transfer the Kinetic energy to the blocks (or bricks) in the wall around them.

  • The most anyone has ever lifted was 17x their body weight. Paul Anderson 163 kg lifted 2840 kg through a back lift. That is still pretty damned impressive, if you ask me.

  • This video is wrong their is ways super strength can exist where you can do the things he claims you can’t, he isn’t including all factors of the scenario and is only including his interpretation of how that being has super strenght.

  • I’m not a native English speaker, don’t know all the words, but I understand the video all becaus my phisics class in school… this is weird

  • I feel like the 3 law of motion doesn’t work how you just explained it. It doesn’t literally propel you in the opposite direction. If you punch a ball, only the ball moves???

  • It’s how you channel that strength is what counts great power comes with great responsibility one of the best quotes from Spider-Man

  • Obviously the whole point of saitama exercise is to push the human body way past its limit and that’s why his head probably went bald because of the immense stress on his body

  • Ah, first trick is the one during which the accident happened. Poetic in a way. Your comeback begins with the very trick during which you got hurt. It must have been scary to try that trick specifically. But it looks like you’ve overcome the fear.

I liked the opposite side aerial reaction. It’s like, “Where’d this come from?!”

And out of curiosity, are you going for long hair?

  • Heaviest bench press in the world was 885lbs. I dont need 100x that. Give my 5-10x and im loving it. Hell even if it were just superstrength 2x as atrong as the strongest human. Just let me bench press a Volkswagen Bug

  • This is very interesting and all, but most videos on YouTube ends like this, without a way to actually produce the same effects we see by using science.
What I mean is, would you be able to lift a car by grabbing the tree and pull it up like single hook cranes do? The area would be quite the same if you think about it.
About the plane, would it be plausible for superman to not do what he did but slowly and carefully deviate the falling trajectory, killing off most of the acceleration and instead of grabbing it on the ground, just carefully make it slide down once most of the acceleration is gone?
For super strength in daily life, I totally agree and would think a “super strength” activation power would be better, leaving people with average strength normally.
What do I mean with power activation? That would be interesting to discuss, for example different muscle structure normally asleep, or something like that.
These would be interesting to discuss using science, as what you just illustrated is basic physics that I really hope anyone knows.

  • If you have super strength. Then you also have super durability.

A punch with super strength would tear your arm apart with the force.

Telekinesis is so much better. If your telekinesis had as much power as classic super strength you could avoid all the issues of super strength and have all the benefits
