Burn Belly Fat With These 3 Great HIIT Workouts For Women. Here’s how HIIT works: you alternate fast, intense periods of exercise with bouts of light activity or complete rest. While it takes.High intensity interval training, on the other hand, is an anaerobic exercise style. When it comes to HIIT vs cardio, that is the first major difference. Cardio vs.

Weight Lifting: Which Is Better for Weight Loss? Cardio Burns More Calories per Session. Many scientists have researched how many calories people burn during various Weight Training Helps You Burn More Calories Every Day. Although a weight-training workout doesn’t typically burn as.

The breadth of current research has revealed that HIIT improves numerous physiological parameters, often in less time when measured against high volume continuous exercise (Daussin et al., 2008). Therefore, the purpose of this article is to discuss and compare the cardiovascular, skeletal muscle, and metabolic adaptations to HIIT versus. HIIT (high-intensity interval training) and LISS (low-intensity steady state) are cardio workouts that offer seemingly conflicting answers to that question. At one point, cardio guidelines were simple: Do 150 minutes of blood-pumping exercise a week for general health.

If you want to lose weight. I recommend doing cardio after weight training as it is more beneficial for several reasons. Read more: Best Time To Do Cardio Exercises (Science-Based) Conclusion.

So this was the detailed research-based article comparing cardio vs weights for fat loss. Breaking the myth that cardio is for weight loss and weight training for muscle gain. Well, in a 2015 study, researchers compared the afterburn of cardio, HIIT, and weight training workouts.

They concluded that both HIIT and weight training produced more afterburn than cardio for up to 21 hours post-exercise, but, surprisingly, they also noted that theirs is the only study showing that HIIT has a higher afterburn than cardio when the workouts burn the same number of calories. High intensity interval training, on the other hand, is an anaerobic exercise style. When it comes to HIIT vs cardio, that is the first major difference.

During a traditional cardio work out, most people aim to keep their heart rate at 60-80% of its maximum level. When it comes to HIIT versus cardio, both training methods can improve cardiovascular health and sports performance. However, high-intensity interval training appears to be more effective, according to a small study featured in the journal Lipids in Health and Disease in September 2013.

Steady-State Cardio Vs. High-Intensity Interval Training. a 2012 study published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research found. Regardless of your goals, it’s hard to argue against including at least some HIIT in your routine. We get the pros to answer your questions on high-intensity interval training for weight loss.

  • I love your videos so much. I’m so glad I found your channel. Not only are you completely accurate your workouts are fun and unlike ALLLLLL the other exercise videos out there you make me laugh and your video on why your glutei aren’t growing was the best “AHA!”… THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! I am a Registered Dietician and I work for a famous anti-aging MD he uses the term “skinny fat” ALL the time! At our clinic in NYC we have all of our patients go into a BMI machine that measures your fat, bones, and muscles. If bone mass and fat mass is more than muscle mass (by the way MOST OF THIN GIRLS)… this is called SKINNY FAT! As a nutritionist I was horrified to learn that I was technically considered to be overweight (clinically) because I was skinny fat! Even though I wear a size 2! Shelley thank you for your videos. Please keep making them! I would love to know what your favorite videos are (that you’ve made).. since I just found your channel I want to binge all of them lol…. but do you have a favorite playlist? I want to grow a bigger butt (so I have that playlist in my priority watch folder)… but also… any videos that you think are the most important to start with/watch first? (e.g. videos similar to your video called “why your butt isn’t growing” to target other parts of the body?). Thank you for dispelling all this BS and giving people the F’ing TRUTH! And you are funny as hell too in the way you deliver your content. SOOOO MUCH FAKE OUT THERE IN THE FITNESS INDUSTRY! YOU ARE WHAT WE NEED MORE OF!

  • Heart health is not important, it’s all about the glutes! Who cares if you die at 40 from a heart attack, your ass will look so sexy in that coffin.

  • Which one more effective Cardio or weight training? Which one deplete glycogen fast? How Many Carbohydrates Are Burned with Running. I do running 40 mins daily. Will it help to burn all glycogen?

  • I run 4 days a week and strength 4 days and am 50 and do it fasted. Are you saying this isn’t good for me. I’m not total keto but do IF 18:6 everyday.

  • for someone with a decent following pleas stop spewing nonesence, cardio has many health benefits and you say 0……….people like u are the problem not the fix, cals in v cals out is the way, hormones ect are variables of cals in v cals out

  • I enjoy your videos, they make me excited to do I.F. and work out. My Physical Therapist wants me to want work out every other day w/ hit training (30 minutes a day) and I find myself having to modify a lot of the workouts because of pain in my knees and feet. I’ve lost so much weight and continue to loses weight. Down from a 14 dress size to a size 2. I won’t give up just need some encouragement that i can tone up and have a flat belly w/4 day’s a week work out vs 5-6 days that everyone else can accomplish. Any encouraging thoughts from you guys will be helpful. I’m now #skinnyfat! treating my self to a new pair of work out shoes today!

  • I don’t understand why she’s receiving so much hate. She’s saying, doing intense cardio + calorie restriction will help you lose weight, BUT it’s not sustainable. Many PTs will tell you the same thing. Lifting weights will help you burn fat and sculpt your body.

  • Please can you do a beginner’s workout to weight lifting an introuction into it. I always find weights a bit overwhelming and don’t know where to start. Also is there a way to do this at home with weights you can buy online, without machines

  • Cardio is like day trading, its good for the moment. Resistance training and cardio is like long term, Blue Chips stocks. It helps you grow and gives you long term gains…This is me marrying two of my favorite things…

  • I warm up with a mile of 1 min on 1 min off sprints and finish after weight training with row machine for 10 mins. I use cardio for overall cardiovascular health benefits not necessarily weight loss. Same as yoga, a great compliment for fitness but nothing tops weight training!!

  • Shelley you need to talk to coach greg or someone else who knows what they be talking bout. This is dangerous wrong information. Hope you are just missinformed and dont talk this much trash knowing your wrong. Talk to Greg and do better than last time….seriously.

  • What is it, 3 o4 4 videos every 24 hours from this channel? That’s a lot of effort on your part, but my feed always looks like you’re spamming me.

  • cardio contains vicious exercises…just do sprint (no jugging /no trademill) burpees, push up pull up, jump squat, high kneels, mountain climb and jack knife…no easy exercises like calf, plank, knee push up, step up…then u can understand why cardio no one recommends

  • I raise my heart rate with weight training. I have been doing 7 mile walks that seems to be keeping the cardio and metabolism in order.I know people like the anaerobic stuff.. no judging, I just know what works for me.

  • When i watched this the first time i disagreed but what she’s saying is actually TRUE lol athough she wasn’t skinny fat she was skinny…but yah all these fitness influencers don’t do those workouts they keep filming..that’s to get money off of us making us think that that’s what made their bodies look snatched like that..she’s absolutely right these cardio things have never worked for me..that’s why most people give up on their fitness journey when doing cardio cause they don’t do shit..unless you have a high body percentage…cardio is not even sustainable you end up adding that fat back once you stop but strength training builds your body and gives you a fast metabolism where you can even eat kfc e.t.c and it will burn it as fast as you ate it.GUYS she knows what she’s talking about idc!

  • Brother, I just want to thank you for this new way of life. I start watching you April 23 of this year. And immediately started IF.
    I’ve lost 16lbs since then. I can’t be happier.
My wife is now onboard. I do OMAD. Abs that works great for me. I just received my IF tee shirt from you. And couldn’t wait to wear it to work. A coworker recognized it and your channel.
    Thanks again.
I love those tee shirts you rock. Where do you get them?

  • There is NOT A CHANCE that this video has 33k likes yet EVERY SINGLE ONE of the top 100 comments are critical, a little sus if you ask me

  • This is exactly what my personal trainer told me when I started a month ago. Cardio-for endurance only, everything else-weights. So I do cardio for warm up, get the blood flowing and the rest of the training-weights. Lifting and combined with some exercises. My weight is going down slowly but I know it’s because I gain muscle also. The difference is visible even though I “lost” just 3kg. And as for the food she just told me-eat everything just keep the bread and sweets for breakfast, don’t eat them after 12:00 pm.
And I’m satisfied because I see results after just a month with the slightest change in my eating habit.
Oh and just to put this out-I was never big on fast food, I eat it maybe once in 2 months, not a fan.

  • How do you wear so much makeup and jewelry while working out? Whenever I go I just wear one of my pajama shirts, workout leggings, and running shoes lol

  • I have watched a ton of your videos on IF and I have a question. Would mixing my bcaas in water break my fast? I’m doing 16/8 right now hoping to increase my fasting time soon (for some reason every time I do I have blood sugar issues) so I don’t want to break my fast when I exercise in the morning. Also any tips for the low blood sugar? I know that’s kind of the point of fasting my issue is I become very symptomatic should I just try to power through or stick to the 16/8

  • I am using IF and Keto to get my body weight down for a 100+mile cycling event this summer. I’m an ex power lifter and started with a body weight of 250. Its been working well, but, since seeing this last video it sound like 53 years is to old combined with my body weight for my heart to handle. I have been training regularly with a monitor and average about 135bpm and go up to 180 under stress. That cycle could happen for an extended amount of time. I don’t feel as though it bothers me. Should I be concerned?

  • So I am part of this “cult” now. Started IF 2 weeks ago and already was on keto/low carb and eating a lot of oily fish. Since started watching been adding a lot of crus vegetables because I have a fat liver tendency. My sin is the beer. I cant live without 3-5 a week and some other hard drinks. Thats gonna be my nxt step. Thank you Doctor Berg for your videos. Cant get enough of them.

  • Thank you for going above and beyond when it comes to explaining and breaking down the HOW and WHY when it comes to fitness. I truly appreciate it. Much love from Oakland C.a <3

  • I’ve been Keto for 2 years and my energy would “bonk” when doing squats and dead-lifts to where I would need to sit down between sets. I started supplementing creatine and I can suddenly lift heavier weight with high energy. What is going on? 4 sets 8-12 reps to failure each set.

  • I love how much he is stright forward to the point.I am 154 cm and 48 kg I have started with IF find difference in my lower abs. Thanks Dr Berg

  • How is it that you’re the only millennial that knows the correct way to pronounce “VS.” but you still can’t say the word “tuned” without dropping the “d”?

  • Shelley you need to talk to coach greg or someone else who knows what they be talking bout. This is dangerous wrong information. Hope you are just missinformed and dont talk this much trash knowing your wrong. Talk to Greg and do better than last time….seriously.

  • Very helpful tips. You explained everything to a T! I’ve been searching high and low for this answer and I’ve finally found it I will no longer be scared to incorporate weightlifting in my weight loss journey.

  • I don’t agree with this. Exercise, especially cardio strengthens the heart. Was diagnosed with type2 diabetes 4yrs ago and I started cardio & weight lifting. Gradually built up to where I am now. I do cardio at an average high moderate pace for 60min with several 60sec high intensity bouts thrown in. This keeps HDL(good cholesterol) boosted, lowers my blood pressure, and keeps my resting heart rate at 60 which is where give or take most pro athletes are at. I closely monitor my heart rate, blood pressure, and get regular lab work done every 3 months. All my labs are great. I’ve effectively beaten diabetes. I do those 60min cardio sessions 2-3 days a week and lift weights 2-3 days a week.

  • Has anyone ever tried Insanity workouts with IF? Is it bad/good? Are there any things you need to worry about(when to do the workouts, when to eat, etc.), since it is a pretty high intensity workout?

  • Sorry, but you’re an idiot when it comes to knowledge about cardio. Stop spreading lies to your viewers & get your facts straight before you post your videos.

  • I do cardio every day (on days I do leg workouts I just do a brisk walk for a long period), and I do weight training every other day

  • We do hiit and weight training in the class I do 2x / wk,it’s pushed a bit hard over the limit at times like sprint after push ups back and forth, I always recover before I do the next thing, and they are looking at me why I am stopping, I am glad that I do don’t feel strain on my heart, by the way the sweat is dripping of me when others in the class never sweat.Since my pulse rate settles Down with a longer rest Iam able push very hard the next round, I learnt this here, THANK YOU SO MUCH DR BERG! • WOW! 33 THOUSAND IDIOTS LIKED THIS VIDEO holy sh*t this idiot doesn’t haven’t a clue what she’s talking about

  • I dont think so… I lose 23kgs by doing Cardio (running) combine with weights.. You can’t lose fats by lifting weights only… You’ll end up being a big fat bulky looking guy when you stop lifting…. i dont care about studies, it’s all about experienced.

  • Hey I got a question: In this day and time when obesity has skyrocketed all over the globe, do those people still exist that are able to eat anything and everything at everytime and won’t gain a pound (ectomorphs)? You know, the people that have such a hard time building muscle and putting on weight. Just wondering…..it’s been such a long time since I’ve heard those type of statements.

  • This is the theory I have subscribed to for the past couple of years and I found it to be true!!! I was afraid at first at gaining a lot of muscle that I might look too “bulky”, but I now know that you never regret becoming stronger!!! I love weight training

  • Its amazing how fast you can get fat. I’ve been doing a 20/4 protocol for 2 months now I’ve lost about 23 pounds but on the weekends i get sloppy and eat and drink and I gain about a pound back but before I go into the weekend i do a 24 hour fast. but its just amazing how fast you get fat.

  • Good morning, Fledge Fitness…
Thank you so much for the educational information about the cardio and resistance training.
It is all about that balance and what works for the body. Stay focus, keep the vision clear and smash those fitness goals. Gid bless you, Fledge Fitness. Hugs..

  • Just what I find very good with regard to metabolic cooking recipe collection is because that it allowed so as I could very easily plan in advance my daily meals and so work the prep time frame into my own demanding schedule. I really could prepare certain components of the dishes before hand to cut back on the preparation when I was pressed for time. The downloadable copy on my smart phone made selecting the active ingredients very simple and in addition a good part of those ingredients are straightforward to locate and so commonly reasonably priced. I researched but couldn’t find these kinds of an excellent range of tested recipes like this anywhere. Find out more at the following link https://is.gd/IAj6qV

  • Having muscles is like having an activated fat burning factory in your body, so even when you are not exercising, you are still burning fat.

  • **Wondering why after almost year and a half of 16/8 IF, I would begin having trouble with maintaining my fast. I have always felt amazing and have never had trouble fasting. Past few weeks, I’m ravenous! I can’t wait until my fasting time is up, I have to eat. Then, I get the late night hunger, so bad, I have to eat. I’m a vegan, endurance triathlete. I haven’t changed my training, and seem to be getting the appropriate calories (and macros). Maybe you’ve touched on this? Not sure, as I couldn’t find anything. Thanks! Love your videos, love your style, and most of all, love the way you base things on science.

  • Cardio and aerobic exercise have been proven to promote neurogenesis, denser bones, stronger cardiovascular system, less depression rates, less disease in almost every way. Cardio will put you in a caloric deficit and you will lose fat. If you pair it with weights first and cardio after, you will be fine. As long as it is paired with a good diet

  • Hey friends! In my recent sustained fat loss video I talked all about the benefits of weight training and lots of you asked about why I don’t recommend cardio for fat loss even though I love it for overall health and wellbeing. I saw Steve Cook’s awesome calorie burn challenge video and it gave me the idea to demonstrate how resistance training can be just as effective at burning calories as cardio, plus it gives you lots of other benefits that you hear me talk about all the time!

It was a killer so I really hope you like it! xxxx

  • I have watched a ton of your videos on IF and I have a question. Would mixing my bcaas in water break my fast? • Geez, I wonder how many years of hard work and dedication it takes to become so strong? I am so so weak, I wish I was like her. I am just starting weightlifting and building muscles so I wonder how that will change me and my strength if I keep at it at least 2 times a week for a long period. It’s a killer.

  • HI! I love your channel, and would love to buy your jump rope as well:) but I live in the UK… are you thinking about expanding the shipping options to outside US by any chance? Thanks! And keep up the hard work! it all makes a difference

  • Could you do the same kind of video for a normal 20 min HIIT vs 50 min Strenght training session? I am curious to see the difference.

  • Sorry but you made this clear as mud.
So circuit training, CrossFit, weight lifting are bad for you because your heart can’t rest???? Then you also say go easy on the cardio????? Who are you directly speaking to and why is no one else saying this??
According to you I can’t run for long distance and if I choose to do HIT or weightlifting, that’s bad too. Please elaborate

  • I am doing cardio and modified yoga right now. Frozen shoulder is keeping me from lifting weights. My stomach fat is melting away so I guess doing what I am doing is working. I want to let you know that I appreciate and enjoy your videos.

  • So much BS in this video. Cardio is a VERY important tool for getting heart and muscle healthy. Combine both cardio and weights and you can’t lose. What are you trying to sell? Lol

  • You damn right you are an influencer who’s lying to us. Please, go read a book or even a sudy online before speaking about how cardio is doing ZERO for us

  • I raise my heart rate with weight training. I have been doing 7 mile walks that seems to be keeping the cardio and metabolism in order.I know people like the anaerobic stuff.. no judging, I just know what works for me.

  • weightlifting is always superior to running..look at long distance runners for example. they look like shit with all low T levels and frail physique. If you must run then Sprint or just do burpees else you will either look like a thin flabby toy or a meth addict at worst..you wanna be stronger, leaner and faster then its resistance training combined with metcon

  • Great Morning Edward! This was a great video! I absolutely love cardio and I’m started to incorporate strength training into my workout routine! Thanks for the insight. Both are the best together.

  • I just seen this video, I been doing steppes, treadmill, and cycle for 90 mins together burning about 900 cals, and right after I do my weights, about another 90 mins. Btw, good work Natacha

  • This is such a typical influencer nonsense. Generalizing everything, making it seem like you are the only one who has the answer. And ofc its an easy answer. You even say it yourself. Like how can you not include ANY single benefit about cardio that has been scientifically proven over and over?! Cardio does zero? All right… HOW BLIND ARE YOU!?

  • Hi Edward l. I’m on IF but one concern, do you have a video on why someone would lose weight in number and not inches? Can you direct me there or help answer pls. Thank you

  • Personally, and I am 54, I have always done both. When I was on SWAT I weighed 223 +/2lbs for six years straight. I did cardio 3 or 4 days a week and same with resistance. Since then I still try to use that type of system. I have a Bowflex Max 7 at home, with tons of resistance equipment/gear, plus a 24 Hour membership and gym access at work. I always use supersets or circuit training with resistance, and HIIT with cardio. I just had a physical and all my labs were right down the middle. Oh, I also either do OMAD or Warrior IF. My total weight loss after retirement (stress and injuries put on a lot of weight on the last two years) was over 66 lbs. I took another, what I call investment only job (to boost earnings for when my wife RN retires), and have to pass the Army Physical Fitness Test. So, take from that what you will but an IF life style, plus resistance AND cardio fitness programs will MAKE THE DIFFERENCE in how you live and extend your life.

  • Soooooo…? Which is better? In other videos, he says HIIT training is best. Now he implies weight training might be best. I’m confused.

  • I do both everyday. The cardio makes me feel good every morning and sets me up for my weight workout. A lot of people use the excuse that it damages muscle, which is completely bullshit. Allows me to eat more too.

  • I run 4 days a week and strength 4 days and am 50 and do it fasted. Are you saying this isn’t good for me. I’m not total keto but do IF 18:6 everyday.

  • Having muscles is like having an activated fat burning factory in your body, so even when you are not exercising, you are still burning fat.

  • You damn right you are an influencer who’s lying to us. Please, go read a book or even a sudy online before speaking about how cardio is doing ZERO for us

  • I was 300lbs and did it only with five miles a day with in a year. Now I’m 180 And I’m stronger the most who lift. Can you explain that sir?

  • I’m taking away from this hiit is bad? I’m 32 so figured hiit should be ok, now I’m worried my heart’s gonna explode that’s what hiit feels like anyway lol

  • I’m missing my gym sooo much I’m watching the lovely Natacha at the gym as my own form of gym porn
I’m trying to do home workouts, but honestly it’s not the same and once I start struggling at home, I quit

  • when he says “if you’re 18 you can do whatever you want” what exactly does he mean. like does that mean i can do HIIT 6 days a week and not worry at all?

  • You say we need to increase our intensity when doing HIIT But go easy on cardio… and it’s not the greatest for ages after 18 any doctor who says cardio is not good for your health and your overall cardiovascular health makes me wonder wtf

  • I work out 6 days a week for the last month, I don’t have a heart monitor but I have a blood pressure device, right after the work out “like after 2 minutes ” My BPM is 136
How kuch is my heart rate during the exercise?
Can u tell us ir heart rate a minute after u finish?
Am still a student so I can’t buy the heart monitor

  • Sorry but you made this clear as mud.
So circuit training, CrossFit, weight lifting are bad for you because your heart can’t rest???? Then you also say go easy on the cardio????? Who are you directly speaking to and why is no one else saying this??
According to you I can’t run for long distance and if I choose to do HIT or weightlifting, that’s bad too. Please elaborate

  • When he talks of the heart rate, going from one fast paced exercise to another without the heart rate being rested, is circuit training.

  • Soooooo…? Which is better? In other videos, he says HIIT training is best. Now he implies weight training might be best. I’m confused.

  • i was wondering if realy hard cardio training done too often could be dangerous for your health? (even if i think it’s the case, i never check study on it) and if depending on the intensity you should do it less or more times in a week

  • Question, at 1:37 when you say “at first” about working your way up via weight training, do you mean in the very same day/session (doing cardo after) or do you mean like for a couple weeks or so?

  • The intro is amazing. Makes me want to get up and workout like a Rocky movie. You should do just videos of you working out with some music to go with it like a motivational workout video for people to watch while they’re working out ️‍♀️

  • i used to train early in the am by due to work i now work out in the evening. around 5-6pm. On the weekend I try to get in a early session so I have the rest of the day but I cannot do it anymore. My body feels so tight no matter how much I warm up and I cannot get into the “zone”. anyone else have this problem and have anything I can try

  • Dr. Berg. I tend to agree with you on most things but I think it may be worth watching for in 6 minutes. May change your mind.
They have been using hiit with elderly and cancer patients with great success. It is a documentary from Australia please I would like you to watch it and give feedback

  • I do cardio every day (on days I do leg workouts I just do a brisk walk for a long period), and I do weight training every other day

  • love fitness, and good to see a U.K women smash a youtube video, spread the love, the support and the encouragement, nuff love all the way from essex

  • I’d say if you don’t have time to do both, choose cardio. It’s being in debt. If you can’t afford to contribute to your 401k AND reduce debt, reduce the debt first. I personally reduce the rest time between sets to compress my weight lifting portion (also burns more cals by keeping heart rate up) so that I have time to get in my cardio afterwards. Be active on rest days. Push yourself harder on cardio only days if you choose them.

  • Thank you!! Found this late and felt guilty for not doing cardio!! I can move around all day and get little weight work outs in while playing with my kids!! Glad to know I don’t need to fun tell I can’t breath!!!

  • Dear Dr. Berg, something amazing happened to me today. I am 43yo, and have been on keto and intermittent fasting for 6 month. This morning I went on a 3 hour hike and didn’t feel dizzy plus I was able to finish it! A year ago if I finished a work out without fainting I used to get an applaud from my trainer. Now I went on a hike! 2400 meter above sea level!!!!! WTF!!! I am not fit by any means I walk a little and do Pilates but this was a surprise to me because I didn’t have time to eat breakfast but I had plenty of energy and I successfully completed the hike. Which means my body must have been burning my FAT. How incredible this human body is, a year ago I couldn’t complete a workout without fainting and now I am climbing mountains. Thank you and may you be blessed

  • can you please make more videos for people who already workout and lift weights? I feel that many of your content is towards fat lazy people trying to lose fat.

  • That was insane. I envy your stenght!! I’m still at the beginning of my workout journey and still need to take multiple small breaks otherwise I would faint

  • Hi D.Berg.
You change my dream in to reality, “a reduced blood sugar reading without medicine” as I never ever wanted to start medicine for diabetic.
I am 47 year old male leaving in Saudi Arabia.

With keto diet I lost 5kg in the first week. My hight is 172 cm and I am on keto diet almost 8 weeks and my weight reduced fm 72 kg to 65 kg now and don’t want to have further reduction in weight as I am looking very lean especially my face. However belly circumstance reduced from 39.5 inch to 36 inchs.

The reason for starting keto diet is to reverse diabetic as my FBS was 180 and PBS was 260. Without any medicine now I am in 106-113 both FBS nd PBS, I do 5days IF in a week and the rest of the days with 3meals.

It will be highly appreciated if you can do an informative chapter on how to stop reducing weight further and get bigger mucles keeping the blood sugar under control (without eating high carb and hence to avoid insulin spike).

Thanks a lot for all your sessions which deserves more than just a thanks.
    Rgds

  • Omg, she knows nothing! How did she get subs???? Possibly her subs are those individuals who were hoping to not actually have to work to achieve weight loss or improve health. Common, really????

  • I warm up with a mile of 1 min on 1 min off sprints and finish after weight training with row machine for 10 mins. I use cardio for overall cardiovascular health benefits not necessarily weight loss. Same as yoga, a great compliment for fitness but nothing tops weight training!!

  • Dr Burg how much Dry fasting is good for health. I saw videos where they says DRY Fasting for 16 hours is 3X faster than any other type of intermittent fasting. Please make a video and guide us. thanks

  • Oh wow! I love cardio more than weight lifting, so this is unfortunate to hear. I usually hit the elliptical for 60 minutes at a very fast speed and high intensity. Sometimes my heart rate is in the 190’s for the majority of the workout. It feels good and I don’t struggle with it. Also if my HR drops lower than 180 I’m not having a good workout. I guess I should change things up a bit. Maybe walk on the treadmill instead.

Since I’ve been intermittent fasting and keto I get no dizziness or shakes during my workouts. My BS is stable! Before I would have to stop and leave, because my blood sugar mostly dropped.

  • So let me get this straight More weights and eating more and you will look great she has obviously found a way to break the laws of thermo dynamics then?! Let’s recall what she just said she has given people the green light to move less eat more and train muscle whilst hoping the fat will magically dissappear! So whilst all the time putting more strain on the most important muscle in the body “THE HEART” so she is promoting a short and Happy life for many then!! ‍♂️ And you are fricking listening to this so called professional guru?!!‍♂️

  • There is NOT A CHANCE that this video has 33k likes yet EVERY SINGLE ONE of the top 100 comments are critical, a little sus if you ask me

  • I’m taking away from this hiit is bad? I’m 32 so figured hiit should be ok, now I’m worried my heart’s gonna explode that’s what hiit feels like anyway lol

  • I’ve been eating Keto for about 1 month. Just got back to the gym this week. I take a class that does combination weight training and some cardio moves. I was getting dizzy, especially between getting down on the floor and back up to do something else. Does that mean i’m not fully keto adapted yet and still burning glycogen?

  • i used to train early in the am by due to work i now work out in the evening. around 5-6pm. • When people ask me abt my massive weight lose and IF i referre them to fledge fitness for nutrition and convict conditioning for strenth

  • Could you make a video on SOURDOUGH BREAD as everyone claims its the healthier n better to eat outhere. What are you thoughts on this?

  • Thank you for the video…I often pushed myself to do heavy workouts and my heart rate was still elevated and I was getting dizzy. Great explanation!

  • Another useful video Doctor. I started my weight lost journey almost two years ago and thanks to you at 40 years of age I look and feel greater then ever before in my life. Thanks for all the tips on keep in us healthy.

    From 303 to 190 lbs

  • I find that with weight training and super sets I get some cardio in moving from set to set. Not as much as doing full HIIT but I much prefer weights over cardio.

  • Dr. Berg, in one of your videos you said it’s best to workout in the evening while in fasted state and go to bed without eating afterwards so that fat burning mode is the maximum. Can you elaborate why it’s ok not to eat post workout meal? I’ve heard you should eat some carbs and protein post workouts to prevent muscle depletion. Thanks.

  • Sorry, but you’re an idiot when it comes to knowledge about cardio. Stop spreading lies to your viewers & get your facts straight before you post your videos.

  • I mean, I agree with your IF and all that healthy stuff………the only thing I don’t agree with, is the keto diet.
How is that a good source for the body? Especially all the products from animals, cheese, eggs, milk, meat…….thats basically all toxic and contains lots of crap nowadays.
If we go back 1000s years ago, wasnt the human eating fruits and berries mainly? Our body is build to process fruitsugar…….of course not this industrial sugar.
But why not eat lots of fruits, vegetables, legumes, wholegrain products?

  • Thank you for the video…I often pushed myself to do heavy workouts and my heart rate was still elevated and I was getting dizzy. Great explanation!

  • This is great,,,I trained 2 world class athletes as a gym instructor before Ill health,,,I’m getting health back and luv your channel,,,

  • Thank you so much Shelley! I have been doibg your youtube qorkout for 2 months and I have lost fat and gain muscles. This is also the first time I have stuck at something. I’m itching for more content from you.

  • The best that I have found for a combination of both is weight train then a few minutes of cardio. Increases calorie burn…. has a great afterburn for a longer period. Vs just a day of cardio or just weight training.
Now I just have to start doing it again…. lol

  • WOW! 33 THOUSAND IDIOTS LIKED THIS VIDEO holy sh*t this idiot doesn’t haven’t a clue what she’s talking about

  • I just loooove watching your videos, and how passionate you are about them, especially intermittent fasting, which by the way has helped me a heap. I really have gained a lot from intermittent fasting,I absolutely love it,infact I’m alternating both OMAD and Warrior diet. All thank to you…FYI,my waist is now 23” from 26” and I got 6 pack too ☺️ and the do both weight lifting and cardio.. I used to start with cardio before then I switched, now it’s weights then finish up with cardio and the results!!! Damn!!! If I continue like this I’ll be all bones and muscles I not lie lol. Thanks Edward, highly appreciated

  • Cardio exercises help my mental health more than weight lifting. Cardio helps me lower my body fat percentage. Cardio helped me recover from surgery. Without Cardio I wouldn’t be walking today. Cardio helped me get the job I have today. But, cardio does nothing.

  • Which one more effective Cardio or weight training? Which one deplete glycogen fast? How Many Carbohydrates Are Burned with Running. I do running 40 mins daily. Will it help to burn all glycogen?

  • Thank you for the fantastic insight! I am just getting back into the gym. I am struggling with cardio, on the verge of passing out, heart jumping out of my chest. I will ease up and try to find an affordable wrist monitor to track progress and allow appropriate cool down n recovery.

  • I’m really glad I came across this video cause for a second I thought I was the only one who felt this way. I actually lost 26lbs and was able to grow my by eating clean and lifting weights only.

  • I love how much he is stright forward to the point.I am 154 cm and 48 kg I have started with IF find difference in my lower abs. Thanks Dr Berg

  • Random skinny girl does squats for a year and acts like she knows about weight loss. Not only is this sadly misinformed, but you sounds like an absolute fool.

Literally decades of successful studies and proof that cardio works:

Random gym bunny thot who does kickbacks: biology is wrong I’m right

  • Hello Dr Berg, I have a question. Can you please make a review on the “Rina Diet” it’s also called the “90 days diet”. I want to start this diet, because apparently here in Romania many celebrities have successfully lost 20 kg in just 90 days. It’s very simple:
    1st dayproteins day
    2nd daystarch day
    3rd daycarbs day
    4th dayvitamin day
And I should repeat this cycle of 4 days
On every 29th day I should drink just water.
Every morning for breakfast i should eat fruits.
Do you think the diet is fine?

  • I just do rope jumping and it is working pretty well… Tho now after watching this I feel lost. It feels good it works wonderfully yet I trust this guy a lot. Help me!

  • cardio contains vicious exercises…just do sprint (no jugging /no trademill) burpees, push up pull up, jump squat, high kneels, mountain climb and jack knife…no easy exercises like calf, plank, knee push up, step up…then u can understand why cardio no one recommends

  • I do weight training with a body weight exercise between sets (like push ups between weighted squat sets or free body squats between bench press) and I keep my heart rate up for about 45 minutes but i don’t keep it too high, only around 120-150 bpm and I only work out 3 times a week, occasionally a 4th time of just lite cardio for 20-30 min and I have been losing about a pound a day with IF and Keto. I started this way because I knew in the beginning that building muscle makes a long term higher fat burn at rest and bc when I lose my belly I wanted to be lean and have some muscle. But I eat a salad with some kind of protein each day as my one meal a day and I am having great results. I put chicken, bacon, cheese, and a little ranch with a big bowl of leafy greens with some avocados and tomatoes or something like that. and I get lots of sleep. This has been working like a charm and I feel great and I don’t even get hungry anymore, I just eat to give my body nutrients and protein for my muscle build, and I have been getting stronger still so its working pretty perfectly.

  • Omg, she knows nothing! How did she get subs???? Possibly her subs are those individuals who were hoping to not actually have to work to achieve weight loss or improve health. Common, really????

  • Cardio on the same day of lifting does kill my gains. However to say that you don’t have to calorie restrict to lose weight is nonsense

  • This is the biggest crock of shit I’ve ever heard. Anyone who believes this is a moron. How can you sit there a talk this crap and feel happy with it. IDIOT

  • I really like your channel but I’ve recently been diagnosed with Diabetes and I was looking for videos that talk about using the IF diet with diabetes… and have not found any in your videos as of yet. Could you maybe make a video or two specific to those with diabetes?

  • I apologize for the stupidity of my question, I am hoping someone who is more advanced than I can help out.

I workout 7 days a week (Sunday I do stretching and a light upper body band routine)

I also walk 4 to 7 miles daily.

    Here is my current routine

Monday Legs (usually an hour and a half)

Tuesday Cardio (over an hour long, I switch between high intensity and low intensity weekly)

Wednesday Upper Body (usually an hour and a half)

Thursday Cardio (over an hour long)

Friday Legs (usually an hour and a half)

    Saturday Kickboxing (1.25 hours)

Sunday Stretching and light upper body band work

I alternate between using BFR bands and just lifting as heavy as I can
on weight training days. I got a boxers fracture on my right hand
Christmas Eve so I have not been able to lift as heavy as I would have
liked to I have been using the BFR bands for the last 8 weeks and a
    12# weighted vest

I am not building any muscle no matter how much I lift or how many reps
or how much I burn. I am pretty skinny at this point 5’8″ 110# 41
    years old

  • I dont think so… I lose 23kgs by doing Cardio (running) combine with weights.. You can’t lose fats by lifting weights only… You’ll end up being a big fat bulky looking guy when you stop lifting…. i dont care about studies, it’s all about experienced.

  • When people ask me abt my massive weight lose and IF i referre them to fledge fitness for nutrition and convict conditioning for strenth

  • I just read all the stupid negative comments. I’ve been working out FOREVER. I can’t tell you how many girls I know that workout in cardio classes but then don’t understand why they are not curvy. That is the issue she is addressing!

  • Thank you for the fantastic insight! I am just getting back into the gym. I am struggling with cardio, on the verge of passing out, heart jumping out of my chest. I will ease up and try to find an affordable wrist monitor to track progress and allow appropriate cool down n recovery.

  • Thank you so much Shelley! I have been doibg your youtube qorkout for 2 months and I have lost fat and gain muscles. This is also the first time I have stuck at something. I’m itching for more content from you.

  • This video cant possibly be real…….. People…… She is trolling you, this is a prank video…….Do you really thin k she is serious?…….well, atleast i hope its a prank video…..

  • Oh wow! I love cardio more than weight lifting, so this is unfortunate to hear. I usually hit the elliptical for 60 minutes at a very fast speed and high intensity. • Hi Edward l. I’m on IF but one concern, do you have a video on why someone would lose weight in number and not inches? Can you direct me there or help answer pls. Thank you

  • Most studies are utter nonsense…was it really fat loss or just weight loss? Cardio and weights are both good together. Want to lose weight…Then Fast for longer periods of time and don’t worry about cardio or weights for weight loss.

  • Those calorie trackers are useless for resistance training, heart rate is not an accurate proxy for measuring power output during anaerobic exercise. You didn’t burn anywhere near 600 calories in an hour of lifting.

You’ll always be able to burn a lot more calories and do a lot more work aerobically. That’s why we have evolved aerobic metabolism in the first place, because it lets us do more stuff for longer before being exhausted.

  • Ed, can you explain the reason behind TDl saying never to end a fast with a mix of carbs & fats, yet you promote ending a fast with fruit. I’m so confused??

  • So we need to do both. Would it be better to do both each session or do a session of cardio then a session of weight training?

Thank you, again, for giving us the amazing info. I love waking up and learning! What a way to start the day!

  • Dr. Berg. I’m a Type 2, 43-year-old from the Dominican Republic and so far, I haven’t find a single person who even knows what Keto is here. I’m in my 4th week and feel reborn. I do a bit of weight for now and cardio. To be exact, the Tae bo, series from the late 90s. For the last 15 days in a row I wake up with my blood sugar at 110 every day and for the first time in my life, I can exercise in the morning without breakfast. The energy and clear mind I have now is something I’d forgotten decades ago.

  • Me over here, all put out not only do I have FAT to lose, there’s different KINDS of fat I gotta get off me. Dang, that’s some harsh news this morning! But thanks for the great video, very interesting and informative as always!

  • I’d say if you don’t have time to do both, choose cardio. It’s being in debt. If you can’t afford to contribute to your 401k AND reduce debt, reduce the debt first. • If you just do cardio you will just become a skinny version of yourself. You won’t have decent muscle tone so you’ll look skinny fat. You need, at the very least, some calisthenics to tone your muscles.

  • I dropped weight fast with cardio but cardio started eating at my muscle so as a female I loss my curves so I guess I need to combine them both

  • You say we need to increase our intensity when doing HIIT But go easy on cardio… and it’s not the greatest for ages after 18 any doctor who says cardio is not good for your health and your overall cardiovascular health makes me wonder wtf

  • Cardio exercises help my mental health more than weight lifting. Cardio helps me lower my body fat percentage. Cardio helped me recover from surgery. Without Cardio I wouldn’t be walking today. Cardio helped me get the job I have today. But, cardio does nothing.

  • HI! I love your channel, and would love to buy your jump rope as well:) but I live in the UK… are you thinking about expanding the shipping options to outside US by any chance? Thanks! And keep up the hard work! it all makes a difference

  • Cardio on the same day of lifting does kill my gains. However to say that you don’t have to calorie restrict to lose weight is nonsense

  • I am doing cardio and modified yoga right now. Frozen shoulder is keeping me from lifting weights. My stomach fat is melting away so I guess doing what I am doing is working. I want to let you know that I appreciate and enjoy your videos.

  • If you just do cardio you will just become a skinny version of yourself. You won’t have decent muscle tone so you’ll look skinny fat. You need, at the very least, some calisthenics to tone your muscles.

  • This is the biggest crock of shit I’ve ever heard. Anyone who believes this is a moron. How can you sit there a talk this crap and feel happy with it. IDIOT

  • When he talks of the heart rate, going from one fast paced exercise to another without the heart rate being rested, is circuit training.

  • Girl please shut up, do you have any degrees or certifications in exercise/nutrition? If not, you should stop making these ridiculous opinionated videos. Stick to doing donkey kicks on the cable machine…because everything you said is really ignorant and harmful to your audience. Delete this video

  • Love your video’s and appreciate your knowledge. I have found that if I do weight training for 45 minutes then cardio for 45 after weight training it works well for me.

  • This video cant possibly be real…….. People…… She is trolling you, this is a prank video…….Do you really thin k she is serious?…….well, atleast i hope its a prank video…..

  • Most people don’t weight train that intensely tho. Most people take rests in between exercises. So for most people, cardio would be more efficient in burning calories.

  • How is it that you’re the only millennial that knows the correct way to pronounce “VS.” but you still can’t say the word “tuned” without dropping the “d”?

  • I’ve been eating Keto for about 1 month. Just got back to the gym this week. I take a class that does combination weight training and some cardio moves. I was getting dizzy, especially between getting down on the floor and back up to do something else. Does that mean i’m not fully keto adapted yet and still burning glycogen?

  • Ok so doing cardio for warm-up and then resistance training with cardio to cool down….IF from 6 pm to 10 am with Dr Bergs healthy keto we are all set! Thanks bro!
    ✌

  • But don’t you need a caloric surplus in order to build muscle? So wouldn’t resistance training be useless if the goal is to burn fat?

  • I just do rope jumping and it is working pretty well… Tho now after watching this I feel lost. It feels good it works wonderfully yet I trust this guy a lot. Help me!

  • What hypocrisy it goes through the skies, she basically took a shit on actual knowledgeable people and science.
Like all fitness influencers are fake and want to get your money but then she offers you her stupid book that has all the secrets that no one else knows
not even gonna mention all of the bullshit she said

  • So we need to do both. Would it be better to do both each session or do a session of cardio then a session of weight training?

Thank you, again, for giving us the amazing info. I love waking up and learning! What a way to start the day!

  • Great Morning Edward! This was a great video! I absolutely love cardio and I’m started to incorporate strength training into my workout routine! Thanks for the insight. Both are the best together.

  • Cardio is like day trading, its good for the moment. Resistance training and cardio is like long term, Blue Chips stocks. It helps you grow and gives you long term gains…This is me marrying two of my favorite things…

  • I find that with weight training and super sets I get some cardio in moving from set to set. Not as much as doing full HIIT but I much prefer weights over cardio.

  • when he says “if you’re 18 you can do whatever you want” what exactly does he mean. like does that mean i can do HIIT 6 days a week and not worry at all?

  • I lift when I can, do cardio(15-20 min) after every workout except on leg day obviously….Keto/IF sometimes 18/6 sometimes OMAD or 24hr fast….works damn good for me.

  • I don’t understand why she’s receiving so much hate. She’s saying, doing intense cardio + calorie restriction will help you lose weight, BUT it’s not sustainable. Many PTs will tell you the same thing. Lifting weights will help you burn fat and sculpt your body.

  • i was wondering if realy hard cardio training done too often could be dangerous for your health? (even if i think it’s the case, i never check study on it) and if depending on the intensity you should do it less or more times in a week

  • Me over here, all put out not only do I have FAT to lose, there’s different KINDS of fat I gotta get off me. Dang, that’s some harsh news this morning! But thanks for the great video, very interesting and informative as always!

  • Natacha I started watching you and working out using some of your workouts. Its day 26 for me and I have lost 10 pounds. You have my ideal body physigue. I love your informative vids. I’ve even shared them with those who follow my workouts on snapchat. Thank you loves!

  • This is great,,,I trained 2 world class athletes as a gym instructor before Ill health,,,I’m getting health back and luv your channel,,,

  • Girl please shut up, do you have any degrees or certifications in exercise/nutrition? If not, you should stop making these ridiculous opinionated videos. Stick to doing donkey kicks on the cable machine…because everything you said is really ignorant and harmful to your audience. Delete this video

  • I think “long term effects” are the keys here.

It seems to me that the popular trend is to go all out on cardio, lose a ton of weight, and then slowly put it right back on. I find that people who are gung ho for cardio are a little more susceptible to these stop and start cycles where the cardio is clearly burning fat but it’s all short term.

People who prioritize resistance training I find are not as susceptible to these unhealthy cycles, and the progress they gained from the training is harder to undo (though ofc it can be undone too).

And I’m certainly not an expert and most of what I’m saying is anecdotal, but in my opinion the best way to look at it is to do both (mostly because cardio keeps you heart healthy), but prioritize resistance training a little more.

  • Heart health is not important, it’s all about the glutes! Who cares if you die at 40 from a heart attack, your ass will look so sexy in that coffin.

LEARNT TO LISTEN TO YOU AND MY BODY

  • Kinda wrong, yea a combo is best but if you are only doing just ONE, weight training, every time higher EPOC rating and have you SEEN most regular runners for example?!? look like fucking cancer patients, especially marathon runners

  • What hypocrisy it goes through the skies, she basically took a shit on actual knowledgeable people and science.

  • I’ve been researching treating heartburn at home and discovered an awesome website at Alinn Heartburn Relief (look it up on google)

  • Most studies are utter nonsense…was it really fat loss or just weight loss? Cardio and weights are both good together. Want to lose weight…Then Fast for longer periods of time and don’t worry about cardio or weights for weight loss.

  • can you please make more videos for people who already workout and lift weights? I feel that many of your content is towards fat lazy people trying to lose fat.

  • So much BS in this video. Cardio is a VERY important tool for getting heart and muscle healthy. Combine both cardio and weights and you can’t lose. What are you trying to sell? Lol

  • Great info. Weight training with 20+ reps with lighter weights gets my cardio going…no longer killing myself on the treadmill and still lost 50 lbs in 10 weeks with IF and light exercise. Dr. Berg is exactly right.

    Rgds

  • Dr. Berg. I tend to agree with you on most things but I think it may be worth watching for in 6 minutes. May change your mind.
They have been using hiit with elderly and cancer patients with great success. It is a documentary from Australia please I would like you to watch it and give feedback

  • I’ve been fasting everyday for two years now… been training for almost 11 years naturally… fasting is the best thing I’ve ever done.. I’m a nurse graduate and enjoy working out… if you would like to know more about gaining muscle while fasting and what I do follow me on IG @a1.fitness92 and message me on YouTube and I’ll start posting vids.. I just finished my chest and back workout after a 16h fast and am planning to fast for 30 plus hours and train my arms then I’ll have my first meal after 35 hours…

  • Great info. Weight training with 20+ reps with lighter weights gets my cardio going…no longer killing myself on the treadmill and still lost 50 lbs in 10 weeks with IF and light exercise. Dr. Berg is exactly right.

  • Thank you for everything you do, Dr Berg. How about swimming? is it a good exercise that works the whole body. Do you recommend it?!?

  • I do both everyday. The cardio makes me feel good every morning and sets me up for my weight workout. A lot of people use the excuse that it damages muscle, which is completely bullshit. Allows me to eat more too.

  • Thank you for going above and beyond when it comes to explaining and breaking down the HOW and WHY when it comes to fitness. I truly appreciate it. Much love from Oakland C.a <3

  • Use caution with the weights and increasing how much you lift if you are prone to back or neck issues it is really easy to place too much stress on those areas if you are not ready for it, and that can also make you dizzy or give you headaches. A reputable gym instructor will tell you about this, not one who is just shouting at you to do this exercise and then that one.

  • Dr Burg how much Dry fasting is good for health. I saw videos where they says DRY Fasting for 16 hours is 3X faster than any other type of intermittent fasting. Please make a video and guide us. thanks

  • Very helpful tips. You explained everything to a T! I’ve been searching high and low for this answer and I’ve finally found it I will no longer be scared to incorporate weightlifting in my weight loss journey.

  • for someone with a decent following pleas stop spewing nonesence, cardio has many health benefits and you say 0……….people like u are the problem not the fix, cals in v cals out is the way, hormones ect are variables of cals in v cals out

  • This is the theory I have subscribed to for the past couple of years and I found it to be true!!! I was afraid at first at gaining a lot of muscle that I might look too “bulky”, but I now know that you never regret becoming stronger!!! I love weight training

  • Another useful video Doctor. I started my weight lost journey almost two years ago and thanks to you at 40 years of age I look and feel greater then ever before in my life. Thanks for all the tips on keep in us healthy.

    From 303 to 190 lbs

  • I just read all the stupid negative comments. I’ve been working out FOREVER. I can’t tell you how many girls I know that workout in cardio classes but then don’t understand why they are not curvy. That is the issue she is addressing!

  • I ride a mountain bike and find that I do best when I ride hard and get my heart rate real high. I then stop and drink some water and wait til I feel incentive to continue. Repeat. Is this ok with Keto? I’m 48 yo

  • I am in the keto intermittent fasting consisting in 8 -16 and is awesome! I don’t feel weak or anything.
    Thanks for your awesome videos!

  • Do both. If your dieting on a calorie deficit and doing only cardio will make you lose weight but when I say weight I mean fat, water, muscle which creates a skinny fat look. Do strength and training together to prevent us burning muscle and eat lot protein

  • Love your video’s and appreciate your knowledge. I have found that if I do weight training for 45 minutes then cardio for 45 after weight training it works well for me.

  • Thank you for everything you do, Dr Berg. How about swimming? is it a good exercise that works the whole body. Do you recommend it?!?

  • I was 300lbs and did it only with five miles a day with in a year. Now I’m 180 And I’m stronger the most who lift. Can you explain that sir?

  • weightlifting is always superior to running..look at long distance runners for example. they look like shit with all low T levels and frail physique. If you must run then Sprint or just do burpees else you will either look like a thin flabby toy or a meth addict at worst..you wanna be stronger, leaner and faster then its resistance training combined with metcon

  • Do both. If your dieting on a calorie deficit and doing only cardio will make you lose weight but when I say weight I mean fat, water, muscle which creates a skinny fat look. Do strength and training together to prevent us burning muscle and eat lot protein

  • The music is really loud in comparison to the talking volume. Considering the weights was done like a circuit so is more tiring than usual weight session, the cardio should have been hill runs to make the comparison fair.

  • I am in the keto intermittent fasting consisting in 8 -16 and is awesome! I don’t feel weak or anything.
    Thanks for your awesome videos!

  • Could you make a video on SOURDOUGH BREAD as everyone claims its the healthier n better to eat outhere. What are you thoughts on this?

  • The best that I have found for a combination of both is weight train then a few minutes of cardio. Increases calorie burn…. has a great afterburn for a longer period. Vs just a day of cardio or just weight training.
Now I just have to start doing it again…. lol

  • Good morning, Fledge Fitness…
Thank you so much for the educational information about the cardio and resistance training.
It is all about that balance and what works for the body. Stay focus, keep the vision clear and smash those fitness goals. Gid bless you, Fledge Fitness. Hugs..

  • Ed, can you explain the reason behind TDl saying never to end a fast with a mix of carbs & fats, yet you promote ending a fast with fruit. I’m so confused??

  • Use caution with the weights and increasing how much you lift if you are prone to back or neck issues it is really easy to place too much stress on those areas if you are not ready for it, and that can also make you dizzy or give you headaches. A reputable gym instructor will tell you about this, not one who is just shouting at you to do this exercise and then that one.

  • I think this was a very good way to compare the two.. However, I do feel your version of weight training is a bit different from the standard gym goer. Usually when I’m doing weights there is no jumping around. Everything is much more controlled movements.. 4 sets of 10 with a 60 second break between.. Then wipe down machine and walk over to the next one and repeat the 4 sets of 10…. I would be interested to see how a less “cardio weight” set would compare to just straight cardio. (Without the jump squats, etc.) just switching from machine to machine.

  • Dr.

  • I think “long term effects” are the keys here.

It seems to me that the popular trend is to go all out on cardio, lose a ton of weight, and then slowly put it right back on.

  • I feel like the results would be different if we compared an elite runner or cyclist against an elite weight training athlete such as yourself

  • I really like your channel but I’ve recently been diagnosed with Diabetes and I was looking for videos that talk about using the IF diet with diabetes… and have not found any in your videos as of yet. Could you maybe make a video or two specific to those with diabetes?

  • Ok so doing cardio for warm-up and then resistance training with cardio to cool down….IF from 6 pm to 10 am with Dr Bergs healthy keto we are all set! Thanks bro!

  • Question, at 1:37 when you say “at first” about working your way up via weight training, do you mean in the very same day/session (doing cardo after) or do you mean like for a couple weeks or so?

  • Great job! 100 calorie difference but in a months time, thats nearly 1 pound difference in lost weight with resistance training if all other factors being equal.

  • But don’t you need a caloric surplus in order to build muscle? So wouldn’t resistance training be useless if the goal is to burn fat?
