I put on 18 pounds between July 12 and August 12. I want to show you guys my progress, and tell you my story! If you’ve had an extreme weight loss / mass gain. Summary You need to eat more calories than your body burns to gain weight.

Aim for 300–500 calories per day above your maintenance level for slow weight gain or 700–1,000 calories if. The general rule of weight gain is you have to eat more calories than you consume. People who are looking to gain weight slowly should typically consume an additional 300 to 500 calories per day, while people looking to gain weight fast should consume an additional 700 to 1,000 calories daily. If you want to gain weight, you absolutely have to consume more calories than you burn. Remember, you need to eat big to get big.

One pound of body weight is equal to 3,500 calories, so eating an extra 500 calories per day will cause you to gain one pound per week. Set your weight gain goal in cooperation with your physician, dietitian, or personal trainer. You can realistically gain 1 to 2 pounds of muscle weight per month if you are committed to your weight gain and work out regimen. You may gain more per month, but it will be a mix of muscle and fat.

Healthy weight gain is about 1 to 2 pounds per week. And we’re here to tell you that you didn’t actually gain five pounds of fat in a single day. After all, gaining a single pound of fat requires consuming about 3,500 calories more than you can. First off, I would suggest doing it slowly if you really want to gain that weight.

Minor caloric increases over time would get you there. Besides the obvious “eat more”, I would suggest eating more foods high in dietary fat. These foods tend to have more calories per serving compared to the other two macronutrients. Now, through a bunch of very scientific methods we figured out that you were overeating by about 30%.

In other words you were eating 30% more calories then you needed to stay weight stable. Since you’ve been gaining weight you decide that its time to try out that “Eat Stop Eat” diet that everyone’s been raving about (shameless plug!). I’ve noticed with men who use Intermittent Fasting for 30 days end up losing a little more weight than women. Of course, this is going to depend on how much weight they have to lose in the first place.

Most men result in losing 10-20+ pounds of weight and excess fat after their first month of Intermittent Fasting.

  • I’ve gained 20 pounds following this advice. but after that, I decreased exercising time and began to do bouldering, I lost some weight, but my forearms, shoulders and core are pumped. I am stronger at climbing now, but i’m also lighter. This can never rival body building, but for me, it is more fun to do.

  • hey awesome transformation dude, but just for people who might not know, gaining weight this fast is usually a bad thing cause it means it will be coming from fat. The body cant physically build 8kg of muscle in a month, generally its agreed that it can build approx half a pound per week. Muscle memory may have helped, and also when you increase your cals, you retain more glycogen and every gram of glycogen stores and extra 3-4 grams of water, so you will have a big spike initially mainly from water weight. Just dont want people to go out and get disappointed when they stuff their face and dont get massive:)

  • I think you should concentrate on your posture rather than putting meat on. Your left shoulder is so fucked up, which is also visible on your pecs. They’re nowhere near symmetrical. Symmetrical btw means healthy, not just estethic. In the final pic your abs are sticking out, which actually means they are weak (yeah, weak), which means your glutes are weak, which means your pelvis is tilted, which means your lumbar spine is hyper-extended, which means your first vertebra, the atlas is out of position, which means your brain stem can not communicate with the rest of your body optimally, which means you are more prone to autoimmune diseases, and also means you’re not getting maximal oxygen supply to your brain, which means your IQ is lower than your max potential.   • I think you should concentrate on your posture rather than putting meat on. Your left shoulder is so fucked up, which is also visible on your pecs. They’re nowhere near symmetrical. Symmetrical btw means healthy, not just estethic. My protein is usually 8oz of ground turkey with every meal and 3 whole eggs mixed in my pancake batter and I have one 50g protein shake post workout with milk and 1 cup of rolled oats in my shake.   • I was struggling to make this pancake thing, but it didn’t work for the third time when I added my protein powder. At the first two times it was only the pancake powder and water, and it went all smooth, the pancakes were nice and solid. The third time I added some protein powder as well, but they all started to loose solidity in the pan, to the way that I couldn’t even flip them to the other side they went all sticky and slimy wtf, I think the problem is the protein powder maybe mine is not really good for cooking.

Last year when I hit the gym I Started at 143 and for the majority of the time, I’ve been on a decent bulk.     The goal is to get more strenght to lift really well, and strength comes from food. You may gain some fat but as far as you are gaining strenght dont worry about fat for now, just pay attension to muscle gain, later you have to loose fat by sticking to protein rich diet only with lots of cardio.
    My goal: gain and train till 180lbs then cut it down to 170.

I will say though that I realized later that eating all that wheat made me uncomfortably full and no matter how much I worked out I still had a pop belly when I consume that much wheat, as I feel most people do as well.     The goal is to get more strenght to lift really well, and strength comes from food. You may gain some fat but as far as you are gaining strenght dont worry about fat for now, just pay attension to muscle gain, later you have to loose fat by sticking to protein rich diet only with lots of cardio.
    My goal: gain and train till 180lbs then cut it down to 170.

  • hey awesome transformation dude, but just for people who might not know, gaining weight this fast is usually a bad thing cause it means it will be coming from fat. The body cant physically build 8kg of muscle in a month, generally its agreed that it can build approx half a pound per week. Muscle memory may have helped, and also when you increase your cals, you retain more glycogen and every gram of glycogen stores and extra 3-4 grams of water, so you will have a big spike initially mainly from water weight. Just dont want people to go out and get disappointed when they stuff their face and dont get massive:)

  • Do you see that serious lateral tilt in your shoulders? This is what happens when you use a computer all day. You need to work on that or you’ll end up like me with wrecked shoulders. Strengthen the serratus anterior and lower trap muscles to keep your shoulders safe.

  • I’ve gained 20 pounds following this advice. but after that, I decreased exercising time and began to do bouldering, I lost some weight, but my forearms, shoulders and core are pumped. I am stronger at climbing now, but i’m also lighter. This can never rival body building, but for me, it is more fun to do.
