Scared to Work Out in a Gym. 6 Strength-Training Exercises to Start With Next up: the weight room, where you can do a variety of strength-training exercises either on machines, with free weight or using. Part 3: The 6 Day Gym Workout Schedule.

Below you will find the final, polished version of our 6 day workout split. Note that “Heavy” = 4 workouts total and “Light” = 3 workouts total. So for Day 4, we would do 4 biceps workouts and 3 triceps workouts. The workout program is designed so you can workout 3 or 6 times a week.

With that being said, if you want to maximize muscle gain, then you should aim for the 6 day split. If you are a beginner, you will find it hard going to the gym 6. Beginners: 6-Week Multi-Gym Workout Plan Week 1-3. In your first three weeks, complete three workouts. This is to get you into a routine, avoid injuries and overdoing it.

It’s important to rest in between workouts to help with recovery. Day 1 (Chest / Triceps / Abs): Day 2 (Back / Biceps / Abs): Day 3 (Legs / Shoulders / Abs): Week 4-6. • How long are y’all resting after the first set? I’m resting at least 2 mins… any earlier my abs are too cramped up and my mobility is trashed lol.

Side note: I would advice anyone going right into this to really stretch out your legs, hip flexors and lower back before beginning. Really focus on loosening up those muscle groups first. It well help BIG TIME. He says it often, but also regulate breathing. I noticed at first I was low key holding my breath at times. When I really started to consciously breath and intermittently flex my abs at the same time throughout all the exercises, I didn’t feel the need to do set 3.

Next thing.., diet and unfortunately you will have to go calorie deficit if you ultimate definition. I highly advise to stop beer and if you still want a drink, go to your liquor store and purchase Ciroc. It’s not non-grain based vodka. You won’t feel like you’ve blown your abs because you barely retain water after a glass or two

  • Hi cloe, I’m under pre Male to female transition, so I want to reduce my muscular body. I have a very good arms and forearm, I want my arms and forearms to look like a average female, can you help me how can I achieve it.

  • Guys I’ve been doing this workout for 2 times every day for the last week and a half and the results are crazy. There’s a lot less fat on my stomach and I look more muscular then before. You should definetly give it a shot! (Remember to warm up before and after the workout to prevent injuries and soreness).

  • Day 4th completed now I have no pain…..daily I’m doing each exercise for 10 times….the best suggestions I would give is that to do with naked body. (Only wear Underwear)

  • 15f and I weigh 108lbs. Not looking to lose weight; just want to get more toned muscles.

Day 1: I did 3 sets with 3 minute breaks in between each. The hardest part is the jump squats, but they’re only 30 seconds, so if you can push through those, you can get through the rest of the workout.

  • All those late night’s wasted texting my ex gf and fake friends when I could’ve put in the work on my body for 10mins… I could have had a 6 pack by now.. but everyone starts somewhere right, I’m not in the worst shape in my life anyways.

  • Just a friendly heads-up to anyone who wants a big butt but not big thighs, take out the squats. Although squats are can help build the butt, it mainly targets your hamstrings.

  • I’m afraid to stray from machines because I’m not confident in my technique, and I feel like machines are harder to do wrong. I don’t want to hurt myself because I don’t know what I’m doing.

  • We don’t necessarily come here to learn so much as to just tmake sure that you’re actually doing what the other more preferrable fitness coaches set out for us to do, such as Thomas Delaurer.. anybody who literally just, comes to YOU first is almost non-existent.

  • Hi I want to lose 500 gram each week.how many days in a week should I do work out? Also how much I should eat? I need a diet plan for this.

  • Chloe, can u make a Pushups for Beginners video? Im sure a lot of us here are still struggling to do it. I wanna be strong like you chloe!

  • It’s 3am and I am supposed to be asleep, instead addicted to your knowledge and keep saying Yes, OK OK as a lifter for over 24 years time to switch it up and focus on learning an lifting differently.

Thank you for not taking SLOW and actually moving it along QUICKLY! You are the only guy I don’t have to speed up talking!

If you could do a video on helping with weak ligaments and working on the smaller muscles since now my BIG ones always overcompensate since I never taught myself to work on those, that would be great.

Taught myself to lift, as a woman long time ago, lift heavy all my life, love being strong but still weak and now left hip, glutes need work. Overcompensating = Bad

Want to start training for a StrongWoman competition this year, but feel a few tweaks, A LOT of tweaks would give me what I need for a great first SW Competition.

Thanks again, you are almost at 10mm subscribers, I wanted to be first to congratulate you before you hit it….

    Happy Training 2020 Everyone! #BlessUp

  • Hey thanks i have some workout equipment at my home but i didnt know fully how to do a workout properly thanks for the kinda tutorial im going to probably end up watching like all of your videos so thanks stay safe and healthy in Quarantine.

  • I still don’t feel able to create such a plan for myself that I know will be perfect for me. BUT, your advice, video style, explanations and so forth were of such a nature I can only applaud you and say; Well done, and thank you.

  • how do you time yourself in the gym? do you use a phone app to count for you or does everyone do reps so they can count themselves? love your videos gurl xx

  • Sorry Chloe, but this video was not very good. You didn’t talk about anything that might actually be helpful to new gym goers like how to pack a gym bag, gym etiquette, utilizing classes. You just gave really generic advice.

  • I have a problem staying motivated or like I plateau and lose motivation.. I am also looking to grow calves but I don’t see any yt vids on growing calves for girls so I would greatly appreciate if you could do one!

  • Hey chloee, you’re so strong for making all these videos while going through a hard time! I really adore your workouts and I do them mostly 4-5 times a week and I can feel how effective they are. I would like it if you made another intense hiit workout because now I repeat the 30 min one so often. Anyways, I love your attitude and your honesty and keep up the good work!! Hope to hear from you soon

  • Is there anyone who can explain a workout for me I’m 14 and I have been doing sit ups crunches planking push ups the weights Squats I was running but my dad said he was getting to old and couldn’t be bothered but am I like supposed to do all the exercises I’m doing all in one day because I have been taking one minute breaks so please may someone tell me am I doing wrong please because I had a book for workin out it was my grandads it was from like 1940 with Arnold Schwarzenegger and it had all the this exercise map in it in stuff

  • As always beautiful. I love your videos and your tips but this video has me a little confused. You said on one of the tips to start with machines and then your entire workout had to do with free weights.
I want to start going to the gym and I was looking forward to a video with a machine workout routine that I could just focus into. Do you think you’ll be doing another welcome to the gym video? Or do you have any suggestions for a scared newbie on navigating through that area of the gym?

  • I have been doing alllllllll of your home workouts for months now, with my own body weight and watching this video just made me think about taking it to the next lever and going to the gym!! I will totally do those workouts! ❤️ But for tonight, gonna do some of your homeworkouts ❤️

  • Thanks this really helped I’m 14 and I’ve been doing calisthenics for the past few months but I was just using other people workouts from YouTube and compromising some excersises as I didn’t have the equipment but now I’m gonna make my own

  • TWO VIDS IN THE SAME WEEK?!! And this topic I’ve been thinking about so much lately? I HAVE BEEN BLESSED edit: I appreciate what you said about wearing what makes you feel confident!

  • Hi Chloe! I have been waiting for this kind of video so so long!!! Thanks for your effort and hope to see more videos like this + what I eat in a day! Best wishes for your dad too! HE WILL BE FINE! <3

  • Can someone pls answer this question? I have been doing these exercises for around 4 6 months now around 3-5 times a week. I’ve noticed that my back feels uncomfortable while sitting down for more than 10 minutes unless I am really immersed in what I’m doing. Does anyone else feel this and what should I do? Thanks

  • Guys I’ve been doing this workout for 2 times every day for the last week and a half and the results are crazy. There’s a lot less fat on my stomach and I look more muscular then before. You should definetly give it a shot! (Remember to warm up before and after the workout to prevent injuries and soreness).

  • I was taking fat loss pills and almost seriously harmed my health. Now I realise that diet is not pills and teas, but structured plan full of nutritionally rich foods. Visit Next Level Diet and get a real diet, stop taking fuc*ing pills.

  • Well looks like my husband will have to divorce me, he said if i get more muscles he is out. I can’t help it i love to exercises i can’t hide it anymore.

  • Love this video. My daily go to! <3
I have a quick but silly question. For regular fitness, a good body (healthy i mean), and overall health. My weight is around 90, some belly fat and waist.

    1. Is diet and cardio+this+cycling/swimming more than enough or is gym/dumbbells etc a requirement? I have a back problem and don’t think I can go to the gym that quickly.

    2. How long do you think a normal routine of this should be for per day if there is no other exercise, in case you think additional stuff isn’t required? I mean the time and the reps. Thanks so much!

  • Do you need to be on a diet also to get abs or is this workout just going to help you overall regardless of what you eat in general?

  • Great Tips!! Very usefull for beginners.

  • I’m not self cautious about how much I weight and how much I can do, I usually get compliments because people like when they see a 14 year old doing his thing at a young age

  • I have a bachelors of honours in sports science degree and i can tell you guys confidently that this video covered and summarised every important aspect there is to get fit and active in such a short video. . Subbed!

  • Hello, thanks for the video but what workout to do for beginners? Like what body parts to workout? Any workouts?or maybe just full body workout?

    Is it good…??
I’m overweight and trying to lose some weight….

  • Finally!! A Total Gym routine with the best lady ever. My inspiration that hope is not lost. I can look and feel better even at my age. Please do not stop doing these kind of routines. Thanks Rosalie.

  • Do you do it all every time you go to the gym and also I can’tlift myself anything else I could do besides pulling my self up? Thanks

  • After the million YouTube videos I’ve watched, can’t say I’ve ever been instructed to pound the dislike button. I like your style sir. Very informative, clear and easy to understand video btw. Thank you very much

  • As always beautiful. I love your videos and your tips but this video has me a little confused. You said on one of the tips to start with machines and then your entire workout had to do with free weights.

  • This vids golden I just subscribed but it’s a shame I found it after spending weeks putting together a workout regimen for myself and kept doing a bunch of research but this vid clarified a lot thanks

  • I would alternate between heavy days and “not so heavy days”. If your reps are too high then you’re just spinning your wheels. Heavy weight is considered 4-7 reps. Not so heavy is about 7-12. Remember, last couple of reps should be gruelingly tough. If it was easy then EVERYONE would be in fantastic shape. Rest when you sleep. ROCK IT when you lift.:)

  • On my first day at the gym i went straight to the treadmill to warm up ( I was already experienced) and there was a boy on a machine I wanted to use after. He wasn’t working out he was just sitting there for a half hour. I was constantly looking over to check if he left. I guess he thought I was checking him out because he started to stare at me. Let’s say it was a bit awkward

  • Actually I’ve planned to go to the gym this morning but I canceled bc I don’t know what to do and don’t wanna be silly girls there haha thank you so much ❤️for your tips that really help

  • This video was great! It taught and explained a lot more information than videos of the same subject matter that are 3 times as long as this one. Thank you so much!

  • im going to start weights for the first time, looking to build muscle was wondering how many times a week should i do this and only these 6 excercies?

  • Ahhh I also have the skinny fat body type as well but I only have upper abbs and I havent really for lower abbs so I am not sure if i should not just being your 15 min intense ab workout or if I should be doing a full workout with a 10 min lower ab workout.
I would go to the gym but I dont have a job yet and i feel like it would be a waste of money to spend on a gym membership

  • Well during this qurantine one may get easily messed with tons of channels, but your video has covered all the aspects, not concentrating on unnecessary stuff, and has quality content, after watching this video I got all the information I need for working out

  • Sorry Chloe, but this video was not very good. You didn’t talk about anything that might actually be helpful to new gym goers like how to pack a gym bag, gym etiquette, utilizing classes. You just gave really generic advice.

  • Hey babe, could do a video with recommendations for someone that wants to start going to the gym but has really bad knees/surgery? Much love!!

  • Visit website called NextLevelDiet and get complete guide for your transformation. I got personalized meal plan for 28 days which contains ONLY food that I have chosen. They provided me with complete DIET PLAN for 30 days with TRAINING PLAN included and I finally started seeing results.

  • I am about to hit the gym for the first time, today. I am a really shy person and I don’t know what to do and how to behave. I don’t know…

  • Hi Chloe! Just discovered you subscribed! Thank you for this video, it’s really helpful and it’s inspired me to actually work out/go to the gym! I’m skinny fat and want to get started with the whole fitness. Looking forward to watch more of your videos!

  • where do i begin?
    I cant do a push up….
I am a runner so my legs are stronger than my arms
    i’m joining swimming

And i’m trying to get fit again
    help?

    My Ass:Ouch, Ouch, Ouch!

  • Thank you Joana.. I went to gym without personal training, and found out that I made mistakes in doing some exercises after seeing this video.. Thanks dear..

  • I only have one word for you. Water. If you want to cut fat or even gain abs you need water and well you also need protein and other junk. Drink a lot of water all you’ll see your stomach shrink and grow into abs.

  • Hey Ladies! Work out to the beat Salsa Verde on youtube. Subscribe Mike Luch. This reggaeton hip hop beat will definitely make you wanna move! Appreciate you!

  • Your videos are getting better and better. Thank you for the two routines for the upper and lower body. Could you be so kind and give us a routine for starters for the Abs and HIIT cardio. • u know u would of sold more of these machines if ur focus wasn’t so obsessively over driven to attract female buyers. this works for everyone and every video to commercial i ever saw was nothing but women doing ass workouts and u people mentioning palaties watever that’s called, if i saw that with no prior knowledge u would of lost a sale. if i think this is a chick machine, i’m passing. fix ur sales department, ur best time is now with the corona virus, everyone is looking for home gyms. i’m investing in one and am convinced, these really are great machines, but as stated stop with the women crap we get it u want a soccer mom, but it’s the man who has money, not the stay at home facebook gal.

  • Love thiss so much. Ty Chloe. Luckily most of use just dumbbells cause there is no gym nearby. Hope you will do more of these simple home weight exercises.
    Thanks again Chloe

  • I’m about 2 months-ish into going to the gym and I’ve been forcing myself to wear skin-tight leggings because it’s the only thing I see others wear to the gym. I know the tip to dress like you want to seem pretty obvious but I genuinely thought there was no way I could wear good “gym” clothing that was baggy. Maybe I just have to do more research. Leggings for me just isn’t the right thing atm I think

  • Do natural popular weight loss method like Custokebon Secrets really work and if so, how effective are they? We’ve heard several awesome things about this popular fat burn methods.

Aiming for a leaner and stronger self this 2019. Looking forward to more videos from you. Love from Philippines <3

  • Mam i have no gym in my locality so pls suggest me something what should i buy to do weight training at home..my age is 23 height 5’6 and weight 60. Thanks.

  • I was definitely guilty of using weight I couldn’t handle on bench. I joined wrestling my junior year, my coach didnt make me join lifting yet, but the next year he signed me up for it. I was a lightweight, wrestling 106lb jr year and 113lb senior year. I wound up with lifting partners that were 175lb and 210lb. We compromised by taking off some of the weight for my rep, and as a result I was trying to bench what I could only do 3-5 times every time we had a bench day. This was a mistake. Funnily enough I was capable of keeping up with squats and deadlifts, and actually did better than the 175lber at squats. I got the record for bodyweight % squats in the whole school, I did 250lb and weighed 115ish. And if someone working at althlean x sees this, I’m curious as to whether what I saw in this video when I saw two of them squatibg, it seemed that they werent going all the way down with their legs, but bent over and used their back and glutes more, I never bent down much in my squats, but i do believe when i didn’t doing my max for thet record, i did it 3 times first two i stayed fairly upright, and the last time i knew he said i didnt go deep enough and i went lower, but my back went over to, i still pushed back up, but I could tell it was using more glute and back, I’m just asking if in your opinion, that is the correct form for a squat.

  • I will be going to the gym today FOR THE FIRST TIME, and I’m freaking out a bit. But somehow I’m just so motivated to go to vent the stress out and feel good about myself. Wish me luck!

  • In my gym the first time you start going they build you a program based on what is your goal (muscles growth, fat lost ect..) and the first time they follow you step by step in your entire workout. For newbies I think it’s no harm to ask before you sign in if they give this possibility

    1st Jumping Jacks
    2nd Mountain Climbers
    3rd Squat Side Kick
    4th Squat Jumps

  • I have a problem staying motivated or like I plateau and lose motivation.. I am also looking to grow calves but I don’t see any yt vids on growing calves for girls so I would greatly appreciate if you could do one!

  • I just started working out two months ago, and I’m currently doing only body weight since I’m trying to build my foundation, and I feel a bit too self conscious to go to the gym. Watching this made me aware of some key mistakes, like just coasting by my current routine, so thank you so, so much. I appreciate it

  • for a beginner like me how does this routine sound:
    Mondayupper body
    Tuesdayrest day
    Wednesdayactive rest day
    Thursdaylower body
    Friday rest day
    Saturdayactive rest day
    Sundayrest or active rest day

  • Thank You!!  This is just what I needed.  I was trying to find an exercise routine that is everyday!!  After back surgery, I became very weak.  I exercise everyday and this gives me something to follow along with!!

  • Thanks for this video. I’ve signed up for the gym again after doing home workouts all winter. This video was needed and I’ve made note of the routines and that’s great for beginner’s no one has ever made something this easy to understand someone who wants to start the gym.

  • Thanks this really helped I’m 14 and I’ve been doing calisthenics for the past few months but I was just using other people workouts from YouTube and compromising some excersises as I didn’t have the equipment but now I’m gonna make my own

  • That’s great but no one wants to go back and forth all across the gym like this. Pick an area stay there a moment and more to another area of the gym.

  • I have 2 works so I work monday to tuesday from 6 am to 10 pm so I wonder if this schedules still work for me or should I try something different?
I work at construction so idk if I’ll be more tired or not

  • Hi Chloe! I have been waiting for this kind of video so so long!!! Thanks for your effort and hope to see more videos like this + what I eat in a day! Best wishes for your dad too! HE WILL BE FINE! <3

  • Your videos are getting better and better. Thank you for the two routines for the upper and lower body. Could you be so kind and give us a routine for starters for the Abs and HIIT cardio. What five exercizes would you recommend for the Abs and what five exercizes would you recommend for HIIT cardio?

  • Hey I’m planning to work out the whole summer but the thing is I don’t have that type of equipment and I’m only 15. Is there any home exercises that I can do for lower and upper body workout?

  • 15f and I weigh 108lbs. Not looking to lose weight; just want to get more toned muscles.

Day 1: I did 3 sets with 3 minute breaks in between each. The hardest part is the jump squats, but they’re only 30 seconds, so if you can push through those, you can get through the rest of the workout.

  • I was always told to never lift more then half your body weight in an exercise, that theres no need unless your trying to see how much you can lift as your max but training there is no point

Thanks

Do you think you can make a video about good exercise schedule apps?

  • Just got one of these and I’m really looking forward to using it. Limited with going to the gym these days so it really does a huge variety of workouts and zero impact on my knees.

  • you can be a beginner and already have injuriesi never started weight training until a few years ago at 50 years old and life had seriously messed me up! Thats why I love your channel. Its helped me work around my limitations instead of just giving up

  • Me doing face-pulls with heavy resistance band.
Jeff: Squeeze the weight and see increase in energy.
    Me: Let’s do it.
And Boom, 10 extra reps. Woohoo

  • Well during this qurantine one may get easily messed with tons of channels, but your video has covered all the aspects, not concentrating on unnecessary stuff, and has quality content, after watching this video I got all the information I need for working out

  • I was taking fat loss pills and almost seriously harmed my health. Now I realise that diet is not pills and teas, but structured plan full of nutritionally rich foods. Visit Next Level Diet and get a real diet, stop taking fuc*ing pills.

  • I just hard a dream that my family and I were sliding inside a stomach like it was a water slide and Mr. Cavelier (idk if that’s how to spell it I’m Srry) was inside the stomach working out. He then advertised me some delicious protein shake. And I stayed so long that my family has to come get me. Idk what the name of the protein shake was but I want it ;-;

  • Biggest rookie mistake: tank tops

We are all dying to see those 12 inch cannons you’re packing but start with some sleeves. Respect the Church bros. Or don’t, Idgaf I just had to mention it.

  • why isn’t anyone talking about his workout mix?? idk, i just love the music he plays, it gets me motivated too. thank you so much for this routine btw!! ♥️

  • I am 5ft 10″ and currently weight 280lbs as the posting of this. I am a disabled veteran and live a really sedentary life. I have a torn rotator cuff (about 75% from the last xray about a year ago) as well as permanent nerve damage on the left side of my body (which goes numb from time to time). From watching your video’s i’ve gained a wealth of knowledge and in the last couple of days have changed my eating and drinking habits. I used to drink 12 sodas a day and eat what ever i wanted (ie. i got a deep fryer for xmas so i’ve been putting it through its paces lol). I have been focusing on nutrition since i’ve been watching your videos and it seems to be a recurring theme that i need to nail down before starting to get more physical.

Here’s my question: Now that i’ve got the feeling that i can become more active this video says w/in the first 2 minutes that i shouldn’t have any injuries and i’m so confused because i do. I know i am prob taking it the wrong way and that’s why i’m asking what was actually meant by it and should i start practicing full range of motion or should i do something different?

I’m sorry for the long winded intro and question, i’m just trying to learn as much as i can. Disabled VA status doesn’t pay me enough to pay anyone for advice so i’m left to wing it on my own but if i can avoid an injury i’d really love a tip on what i can do to “test” the waters a bit.

Thank you for the awesome videos and information i look forward to more =D

  • I only have one word for you. Water. If you want to cut fat or even gain abs you need water and well you also need protein and other junk. Drink a lot of water all you’ll see your stomach shrink and grow into abs.

  • Thank you Joana.. I went to gym without personal training, and found out that I made mistakes in doing some exercises after seeing this video.. Thanks dear..

  • According to Jeff ( whom I’ve learned a great deal from) don’t do unsupported dumbbell flies because it’s really bad for your shoulders. If he’s talking about for ROM why would he use that as an example?

  • for a beginner like me how does this routine sound:
    Mondayupper body
    Tuesdayrest day
    Wednesdayactive rest day
    Thursdaylower body
    Friday rest day
    Saturdayactive rest day
    Sundayrest or active rest day

  • hi Chloe can u please make a video for like ppl who want to lose body fat. Like a schedule with weight training and cardio, like what we should do.

  • I knew which foods I need to eat to lose weight, but I didn’t know how much. Diet plan I got from Next Level Diet contains portion sizes for every meal. Fantastic!

  • That’s great but no one wants to go back and forth all across the gym like this. Pick an area stay there a moment and more to another area of the gym.

  • I’m 13 and I do 3 sets every day or every other and I have been doing this for 2 or three months and I’m getting results so will you guys I’m looking to start pushing 4 sets soon thanks so much good luck every one

  • hi! i’m a 12 year old active athlete/basketball player. twice a week, i go to a speed and agility sports training place. i’m having a lot of trouble figuring out my routine. should i be working out on the days i go to the sports place, and what parts of my body should i be targeting at this age? i really hope you can help me because i’m having a lot of trouble
this video was awesome and helped me get an idea of what i want to do!! thank you!

  • I just found you channel, and I going to start to go to gym from tommorow morning!! I’m scared but this video really really helped me… You’re sooo HELPFUL and THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
Jesus, wish me luck guys. (My goal is to loose 15kg)

  • All those late night’s wasted texting my ex gf and fake friends when I could’ve put in the work on my body for 10mins… I could have had a 6 pack by now.. but everyone starts somewhere right, I’m not in the worst shape in my life anyways.

  • I just recently got my gym membership and I’m nervous as hell to go back since my health assessment (my coach wrecked me, nearly puked while doing the assessment. lol. I think it’s my fault too since I went while I’m on my fasting period since I’m on IF). All the tips you said inspired me more to go back and start again. Aiming for a leaner and stronger self this 2019. Looking forward to more videos from you. Love from Philippines <3
