How To Make Veggie Burgers// Sweet Potato Quinoa Burger

Peel the baked sweet potatoes. Add the flesh to the bowl of a food processor. Blend with the parsley, cumin, salt, pepper and paprika.

Mix in the oat flour, 1 and 1/2 cups quinoa and black beans with a spatula. Mix the quinoa into the freshly made or ready made sweet potato purée and stir well. 3. Add the oat flour, cilantro, green onions, ground flax seed, garlic, ginger, cumin, paprika, basil, and salt. Cut the sweet potatoes in half. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with a pinch of kosher salt and cracked black pepper.

Place the potatoes face down and bake them until they’re tender and can easily be pierced with a fork. This should take about 30 minutes. (You can cook quinoa in the meantime.) When done, set aside. Reduce oven heat to 375 degrees F. To the remaining half of the cracker crumbs, add the cubed sweet potatoes, drained chickpeas, green onions, cashews, garlic powder, salt, nutritional yeast flakes, quinoa, ground flax seeds, and corn starch.

Pulse for a couple of seconds and then use a spatula to push the ingredients back down. Pulse again for several seconds. Skin sweet potatoes and place in a large bowl.

Mash with a fork. Add spinach and mash together (I use my hands for this). Add quinoa and lentils, feta, mint, chives, lemon.

Preparation. 1. Combine the quinoa and 1/2 cup water in a very small saucepan with a lid. Bring to a boil, cover the pot, and lower the heat to the slowest possible simmer, with a heat diffuser. In a separate saucepan, melt 1 tablespoon of the vegan butter substitute or butter. Stir in 1 tablespoon of maple syrup and the cayenne pepper.

Add mixture to the mashed sweet potatoes along with the kale, the cooked quinoa, pecans and 1/2 teaspoon of salt and then mix it all together well. Add breadcrumbs, lemon juice, and about ¼ cup reserved mashed sweet potato to quinoa mixture and mix well. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt. Increase the heat to medium high and bring to a simmer. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sweet potatoes are tender and the liquid is almost absorbed, about 15 minutes.

Add the sweet potato. In a food processor pulse 1 cup of the potato, chickpeas, quinoa, flour, pepitas, cilantro, onion, garlic, egg, Dijon, chile powder, cumin, paprika and salt until the mixture is chunky. (Do not over process.) Form into 6 patties and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Heat a grill pan or indoor grill to medium high and brush with oil.

List of related literature:

Add the mashed sweet potato, beans, lime juice, almond butter, soy sauce, 2 tablespoons (30g) hot water, curry paste, basil, coriander, and salt to a food processor; process for 3 to 4 minutes or until very smooth.

  • I was watching Spongebob just before this (Don’t deny it, Spongebob is wicked XD) maybe you could make those different coloured Krabby Patties with varied flavours so orange perhaps a spicy burger, yellow southern fried chicken burger etc. Anyway; I’m actually going to be making this recipe soon, it looks lovely:3

  • the only thing I would say is we don’t need all the Radom fillers i think if you’ve got as many people as you have liking this then you don’t need to keep their attention by inserting visual indicators of what you mean other than that it was a great video

  • Nothing like eating something healthy and slapping a cup of oil in it:) Other then that, this looks cook, I’ll use less oil though.

  • Yum… and so peaceful and relaxing to watch… I don’t know what broiling is though…. I will have to research… they look so good. I’m not vegetarian but love eating meatless meals often.

  • I made this for dinner tonight and it was amazing! They didn’t crumble and they certainly weren’t dry. The red onion and coriander gave it great bursts of flavour. I’ll be making these again soon!

  • My favorite, black beans and quinoa. I rinse my quinoa b4 cooking because I read there is a natural coating on the outside which is suppose to make it difficult for birds to digest. Do you rinse your quinoa first b4 cooking? Sorry, I did not have a chance to watch your quinoa video.
I am going to make this! My kids love sweet potatoes and I am harvesting some from the garden this week. Perfect timing!

  • Hi Rose, is there a way for you to put a print recipe button on your website so that it will just be the recipe that prints out. Thank you so much for all the time and care you put into your videos.

  • hey barry i baked my sweet potato in oven but they got messed up they developed a hard crust s have to dump em and baked new ones whole wrapped in aluminium foil

  • Love that double stack. Been waiting for a great veggie burger. I saw your other one but since I love sweet potato, I believe I’ll like this one better. The spread looks just as great. Maybe I’ll want to taste my fingers after this too.

  • My god! I wanna try this! Sooooo good looking. That’s a big potato! Here in finland they are little smaller:D Mm.. I gotta try this..

  • It’s so great to see ‘non-vegans’ trying more vegan food, in a simple and delicious way!
With summer coming, lets see more hearty vegan meal ideas!:D

  • I love my meat but these look delish! Gonna try them out thanks! (sadly i do not have a microwave, I’m an oven cook). Keep on spreading the deliciousness!

  • Hi there! I do! I rinse it 4 to 5 times before I cook it. It gets rid of the saponins which are bitter. Most of the packaged quinoa in the US has already been ‘treated’! Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope these come out perfect for you!

  • My man is not a fan of sweet potatoes as well but this is one way I can make him eat sweet potatoes and he loves it! He’s not even vegan to begin with!

  • These look incredible, can’t wait to try them! I was wondering if you knew roughly how many calories were in one burger just on its own? And also if you could bake them in the oven instead of frying it? Thanks:-)

  • Sometimes I just pick a video of yours just to see your smiling face:) I hope you and your family are all well, and things are going well for you. Blessings, xo T

  • You keep inspiring me! The brioche buns caught my eye…and the burgers sound delicious. I think I would add bread and butter pickles to add a vinegary sweet touch.

  • They did, thank you! To prevent them from being too moist I mashed some of the black bean. They came out perfect and I froze the rest = )

  • I love sweet potato but have never fried it. Gonna make this for our tea tonight. Might try it with my home made chutney. Thanks Barry

Saw the pumpkin pie one on your channel, but no sweet potato:( Keep creating and sharing these amazing recipes!
