So You Want to Stop. Snacking Late at Night. by Coach Stevo. June 14, 2016. 125 Comments. Snacking late at night has been known to derail even my most motivated and disciplined clients and, believe it or not, we’re all hardwired to do it.

According to the landmark work of Roy Baumeister and Dianne M. Tice at Florida State University, humans have a limited supply of willpowe. With more freedom in the evenings, emotional eating can become more of a problem. Late night eating can also become a habit.

If you tend to snack when you’re in front of the television, it could be down to habit, for example. Eating in the evening or late at night can also be a “reward” for a busy or stressful day. Prepare for snacking If you know you’ll feel tempted to snack late at night, prepare by stocking your kitchen with a bunch of healthy options, so you don’t mindlessly consume hundreds of calories. Have you ever felt like you can’t stop eating after dinner? I have!

But I’ve learned a few tricks for how to stop snacking at night and I’m excited to share them with you! Whether you’re trying to lose weight or you just want to enjoy better sleep, these tips will help! Don’t Set Rules About When to Eat. Sometimes I snack, sometimes I.

Thanks to those increased cravings late at night, you are more likely to eat more calories than your body needs in the evening hours. Nighttime is also when most people reach for sugar-laden snacks that are calorically dense and could pack on the pounds. Certain behaviors are so ingrained in everyday life that it feels like you “wake up” mid-habit, before you can stop yourself. It’s a cycle of resolutions, moments of weakness and guilt. At least that’s how I felt about my late night snacking.

This could mean that at night, you don’t get the same rush of satisfaction that you might get during the day, leading you to crave snacks even more. “You might over-consume at night because food is. If overeating at night is a habit, you’re not likely to give it up overnight. You can help ease the transition by switching from unhealthy nightly snacks to healthier options. Cut up fruits and vegetables and keep them in.

One reason you can’t stop snacking late at night. Brains are less stimulated by food at night, a Brigham Young University study shows. And that, ironically, is exactly what leads to those midnight.

See what happened when one writer tried to put an end to her late-night snacking and stopped eating after 7 PM for an entire month. 73% of African Americans said they did not have emergency funds.

  • I struggle with this. It’s like my body is fighting the let down period of the where you get tired and want some energy in the form of food. And your more vulnerable cause your tired. Easier to make bad decisions.

  • How about a video for snacking tips for nursing/prego mamas
Sweets are a struggle for me! working on it… I was recently able to cut out soda!!

  • I can add fat to dinnertime meal, but around 1:30-2:00 am, I start snacking on pork rinds. About 1 cups worth. Then I can fall back asleep. Argh!! What can I do? I’ve been stagnate on Weight loss for 2 weeks now. Oh, and I’m doing 20-22 hrs I.F. as well. (???) Usually eating a salad meal for 1st meal and protein with cooked veggie for 2nd meal.

  • I don’t have bad treats in the house and TV is boring… good snacks and the computers. I spread out my dinners cuz a large plate is not appealing..3/4 and 1/4 later if I am hungry. I try to fast after dinner.

  • Hey Sam! Love your video… they have really helped me to stay motivated to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle. I’m on the keto diet now and loving it. I don’t like giving negative comments to anyone on YouTube, however, I felt obligated to say that you didn’t really give the keto diet a fair chance. You excluded meat from the diet, which doesn’t qualify it as a “keto” diet anyways. I believe one of the reasons you found it difficult is because you didn’t eat meat. Anyways, love your videos! Thanks.

  • My late night snacking urge, l watch your youtube! 2 nights so far. I am understanding more about my eating habits from my past, and how they now don’t serve my health in the future.. l love vegetables! Really looking forward to learning more as. I would like to loose 15 kilos/ around 30 pounds. Thank you.

  • Read Ori Hofmekler’s book the Warrior Diet. In this book, he emphasis and stresses the point that eating at night is our primordial instinct to binge because we are still hunters and gathers. In reality, we are all nocturnal eater, that is we hunt and stay active thought out the day and eat during night Night Eating Syndrome is simply a made up fiction.

  • let’s not label foods as “good” or “bad” pleaseeee!!!!!! i know it’s hard because of diet mentality but let’s just leave the guilt around foods out of it:/

  • I have really high metabolism but I need to stop getting hungry late at night but im also working out alot so I don’t know if I need to eat more or not

  • That was so nice of who asked her whether she was trying to lose them because she might not have been doing it for a good reason and I thought that was very respectful;)))

  • I love u I’m a new subscriber but u have inspired me to workout and be healthier I’m generally healthy but being healthier than I was has really helped so much thank u I ❤️ You so much

  • For any young girls watching this, please don’t think you need to restrict your eating to look a certain way. What you might not be realizing in this video is that Hanna is changing her whole routine to be healthier. It DOESNT matter at what time you eat. What helped is that she was getting better hours of sleep, eating healthier and avoid inflammatory foods (such as dairy). She went from eating lots of cheese (which will make her bloated) to eating good veggies, drinking lots of water AND working out. If you’re already very lean like her, after doing abs everyday for a week, you’ll notice a little difference. Also losing two pounds in a week doesn’t mean anything. I could go take a shit, drink less water that day and it’ll seem like I’ve lost 2 pounds. Your weight naturally fluctuates between 2 to 5 pounds depending on the sleep you got, what you ate, what you’re wearing, if your bladder is empty so pleeeease don’t start doing weird diet and stressing about what time you’re eating your food. Just have a healthy lifestyle and always know that you matter and are worthy of love and everything you wish for no matter how your body looks

  • I don’t snack anymore with IF, but sometimes I’d like to for the pleasure of the taste of food. I’m never actually hungary, just peckish for veggies w/hummus, cheese, etc.

  • Today has been good. Yesterday was not. I slipped up yesterday. Lots of carbs and not of the high fiber variety. So yesterday morning i was coming off poor sleep. I made a mistake of starting my day with a Special K protein drink. I think the sugar in that plus my poor sleep and then more stress and another rainy day…resulted in a downward spiral for me to continue looking for sweets. Not good. Today, i am cruising and no cravings. I had good sleep last night and today i only had coffee in the a.m. bc i was not hungry like yesterday a.m. For lunch i had a salad, then tuna salad..and no dessert. I had no desire to shove sweets in. I am more level today. Hoping that tonite, i dont fall into the sweets trap. I feel that stress, poor sleep, lack of exercise, boredom, and then sugary stuff or lots of snacking…will start the hunger locomotive. Some tv shows really make me want to munch….Survivor and 90 Day Fiance…these r dangerous snacking shows! I agree ab the healthy mindset and also having a passion or purpose or goal. Great video and super professional as usual.

  • If you crave sugar and don’t want to binge out on cake just have some whipped cream it tastes sugary and it’s low cal you can freeze it too on a tray and it’s even better:)

  • Hii sam i just found ur channel n m loving it…u r so cute love ur videos…i have started IF a while back but cdnt stop cravings i need help n pls tell me how will i workout? Like how intense i wanna loose weight, m doing hiit 5days a week for 30 mins will i decrease it to 15 mins??

  • Late night is my favorite time to eat, so that’s why I skip Breakfast and Lunch, and I start my eating window with Dinner in the evening and then about 4 hours later, I end my eating window for the day with a late night snack.

  • This is very motivating Hannah! I haven’t been eating the healthiest, but now I’m going to!✨ xxC

Subscribe to my channel if you want!☺️

  • Sam I love your videos so much!!! So inspirational and motivating ❤️ just a comment your audio sounds different did you change something up? Love youuu

  • I’ve recovered from my eating disorder and you have helped me along the way so much without even realising. Thank you! I’m so grateful

  • I’ll brush my teeth a little bit after I’ve eaten dinner to prevent myself from snacking on random food later. Works well for me!

  • Fabulous DB, as usual. I personally don’t normally have a prob with late-night snacking anymore. It was, as you said, a ‘learned behavior.’ But through IFing and the low-carb high-fat dinners, I am fine. Cause you showed me the way to go.

  • Hi Sam! Would you recommend products such as Protein World Slender Blend etc as a meal replacement? Sorry if you mentioned it before:))

  • you should make a video on tips for binge eating! and not the phase that everyone goes through after they’ve been starving themselves all day etc. I mean the actual eating disorder. I’ve been struggling with it for years and i can’t stick to my healthy eating due to it! I’ve tried everything and nothing helps

  • Hey sam! is it normal to gain about 1-2KG in one day? is it water weight or could it be fat weight? i eat like normal, breakfast, lunch dinner… And i eat healthy too! But is it normal? i weighed like 68Kg this morning but now in the evening i weighed 70kg!! Like Whyy is this happening, whats the reason? I am so sad now:(

  • Great video Sam I am so bad wanna comes to night snacking . Congrats on going to Hawaii for your birthday girl . I also over eat to though

  • I started wanting junk food around 4 but can easily stop my self. As time goes on I can’t stop myself anymore. It gets to about 9 and I give up. Can anyone relate

  • Can you also do a video on managing gestational diabetes, given that fasting is not an optimal solution while your baby is growing. Does high fat, low carb still work then? Constricted stomach make one eat smaller frequent meals.

  • I can go the whole day without eating but in the evenings i start to graze like a Bison and my insulin levels in the morning can be as much as 21.

  • Omg you don’t even know how much you help me out! Since I been following you on here I actually got my shit together and it feels amazing! I have never been so motivated or as ready to start taking control over my life

  • I’ve been eating way too much, I just ate 3 slices of bread w avacado and peppers and napped for 6 hours, way too much for me:( and I feel bad now because I napped I woke up and ate a roast w potatoes and carrots:(

  • For me, tonight will mark one month of following the ketogenic diet. In total I’ve lost 17 lb which I’m super happy about it. For me as I’m not really too big to begin with losing the extra pudge here and there was always SO tough! I feel incredible and will most likely stick to this new lifestyle. Thank you so much, Dr Berg, for all the invaluable information.

  • i just had some cake late at night…. i work out and eat super healthy during the day but I always eat a lot of snacks at night. i’m healthy but it never feels good and afterwords my tummy hurts. i think that at night i often eat out of habit, not because i’m actually hungry!! so starting tomorrow (friday to friday), i will not eat any late night snacks, only maybe some fruit after dinner if i want a dessert.:) i will come back every day with progress!!

also, used to binge eat almost every night. now I don’t binge eat but i do eat too many sweets every night and i feel a bit like a lost cause. but i know i can do it cause u did:)

  • So so true.. When I eat lots of steam veg with coconut oil and butter at 6pm..I’m so full that even if I’m up until midnight, I’m not hungry.

  • Does anyone know how long it takes for the ghrelin to stop spiking after you stop eating at that time? I’m trying to do OMAD IF and my family is always making food late at night and it’s really uncomfortable.

  • was going through ur entire page and honestly the nobel winner of 2017 has actually same things that are reiterated by u even the videos as old as 7 years

  • I always felt I secure about weighing 135-140. I always felt that you are absolutely perfect. Knowing that you weigh almost the same as me makes me feel so good about myself.

  • Dr. Berg I love all your videos specially the recipes ones. I have made the little bombs with peanut butter and coconut oil and cocoa powder. They are so good that I find myself eating all the time. sometimes I’ll eat about 4 of them straight after the meal or sometimes even before the meal. I’m addicted to it. Is it bad? Also your bread is simply delicious and I can’t stop eating what to do Dr. Berg?

  • Hi! Thanks for this helpful video. By the way, I notice a lot of people keep on talking about Bulimilorex Remedy (search on google), but I’m not sure if it is really good. Have you thought about home remedy called Bulimilorex Remedy? I’ve heard some incredible things about it and my buddy completely cures her bulimia safely with this remedy.

  • So I work nights. When I’m home I can deal with the hunger and cravings but when I’m at work and moving around I end up snacking on crackers or something else bad. I’ve tried to have will power but unless I’m so busy I can’t get a break, I’m eating. Not sure what to do.

  • Love this and I’ve literally been doing the same thing, I try to cut off late-night snacking by 9:30 pm and I eat relatively healthy but also, yolo and I don’t always want to eat healthy. Also I just started the Chloe Ting 2 week shred. Keep up the great work girl!

  • I’ve been having the same problem since quarantine started. This video helped me so much and I now feel way better about my body (even though I LOVE my body no matter what) Thank you Hannah for motivating me!

  • My biggest problem is late night snacking. I’m usually into KETO, but I’m ruining all my hard work. Thanks, Dr. Berg. I’m eating more fat. I thought adding more salad at dinner was it. Okay, more fat.

  • For people in the same shoes, ie, too busy to work from a recipe just to conjure up a substitute for pasta (!)
I suggest…….butter beans. I just made spag bol and gave the kids theirs with spag and i had mine with the butter beans. It was nice. I don’t want to get home from work and double the washing and the chopping and need two recipes, three saucepans! So I just I peeled the lid of the can of butter beans, 200 gms, 110 calories, That worked.

  • Hi,
this is also valid for who is type 1 diabetic? since the insulin will not increase, since the pancreas does not produce.
    Thank you for your videos.
    Greetings from Portugal!

  • Brush your teeth, read a book, paint your nails, take a bath, do crossword / maze puzzles. Whatever keeps your mind & hands busy, will help until you fall asleep! Develop a night routine:) great video!

  • Yes, I think I went towards leaner meat and OMAD too soon as my guts had not adapted with balancing of bacteria yet. I was so scared of constipation, was having lots of gas and cramping. I have whole colon diverticulosis. Took some bifido and 4 cups total strawberries. Now out of pain AND no ketosis this past week. So more fat in the plan now.

  • Thank you, your tips have helped me to fine tune my weight loss program. I have had two obstacles hard to get through. My morning glucose was always high while rest of day it ran normal. Even after loss of over 40 lbs. I followed your advice of stop eating 3 hours before going to bed attempting 12/12 fast. It helped along with using Berberine advice from 2 fitdocs video. Thanks again. Trying bulletproof coffee, quite tasty! Yum.

  • These are so helpful as usual girl! I’ve been struggling with late night snacking but you’re right, our bodies and minds crave routine. So I’m gonna give it what it wants:)

  • I must confess I love late night eating because it has a “party” feel to it. I am a “worker bee” type so nighttime is my first real relaxation time where I get to sit and enjoy food. I know it’s something to remove from my routine…maybe I need to make lunch time my party? LOL

  • Great video. Evening eating is my downfall and while momentarily satisfying, causes me stress and disappointment in myself. My stopper, when I apply, is brush and floss my teeth and rinse with a minty mouthwash. After all that, I will not eat. Thanks for this nudge.

  • aw i love how her stepdad made sure that her sudden weight loss was intentional and healthy. also this rlly inspired me hannah thank you

  • I am doing keto and IF. Because of a short eating window, i fail to eat 7 cups of veggies in 2 meals. I will be too full. If i eat enough veggies then i wont be able to take in the required protein. Any advise. How is snacking during the eating window? Then i can snack on cucumber and carrots to achieve the 7 cups. Big meals stuff me. Any advise Dr Berg?

  • Ever since I started eating a high carb low fat whole foods plant based diet, all my craving went away because I finally started feeding my body enough, and fueling it with what it needs which are carbs. I don’t even crave junk food now.

  • For someone who has NES, these tips will not/do not work for me. I become ravenous after I brush my teeth and reading before bed doesn’t stop me from getting up to snack through the night. Thank you, though!

  • Lately love snack on nuts… especially during such convi-19 situation… cant stop till i write small note to remind myself… worst the next day guilty feeling… as i have leaked gut

  • Late nite snacker checking in to change habit…I eat a fatty snack not carbs…ok narrow the eating window I can do this Thankyou Dr Berg:)

  • Thanks Dr Becky. Drinking enough water helps me also. Plus after my last meal I will eat a square or two of Camino baker chocolate. Yes, it’s bitter, but I have grown to really like the taste.

  • Great video and tips! I usually do my work in the kitchen at night time but have moved elsewhere in the house now to stop me from wondering over looking for something to magically appear in the cupboard loving the lipstick too Jess! xxx

  • I’m always craving for fat, it’s that normal in keto diet??, because that’s the reason it’s so hard for me to count calories in this keto diet. Can you tell me Dr. Eric Berg DC?, it’s that normal??

  • How did you know late night snacking has been a challenge for me? Oh please I have been known to go get “it”. You are absolutely correct about eating enough fat…its my HEAD that’s the problem… SABOTURE

  • It seems that the great personalities who have won the Nobel Prize in Medicine, 2017, just repeats all the theories Dr. Berg has said in his videos over these years. Trust me Doctor, I know it’s a big thing to say, but you have already proved and explained and practiced what they are saying now, long before.

  • nobody’s talking about how she GOES to her bfs house while the rest of the world is in quarantine? it’s just so irresponsible and selfish smh.

  • Hi Dr. Becky. I am 46 and gaining belly fat and around my butt and hips. I live in a country where if I ask my doctor about my problems he would just tell me it’ normal. I want answers. What I want to know is that while I have always been active and mostly watch what I eat, I always read about estrogen dominance although estrogen levels drop. Then we are encouraged to eat estrogen rich foods. What do we eat. Should we be having dried fruits, flax etc. Are they good estrogens? Maybe it’s not estrogen but low progesterone cause whatever I eat, even cruciferous veggies I cant resolve my weight gain. What’s your opinion on flax. Thanks so much.

  • Have a shower. It is the place where you are safe from food and drink plus showering helps to wind down and relax before having an early night

  • I’m literally the exact same weight and have the same body for the before part, it’s so hard to stay motivated rn during this quarantine but you give me hope(: love you

  • Hi dr berg love your videos thank yiu. I have been on keto six weeks only small loss but I have been snacking so that might be why! I also wondered why when I eat anything almond meal straight away the weight goes up on my scales the next day.. also I just had a question on veg should we be having these twice a day or just once with salads more at lunch I looked in my carb app saying veg was about 8 carb do u recommend having carbs no more 7 each meal or is that is not right? Thank you very much

  • Chewing mint gum really helps me! You get a flavor and the chewing feeling without consuming anything, i go for sugar free gum anyway though. But if this isn’t a good idea let me know!

  • Girl, you read my mind. I got up for a midnight snack and totally chowed down a cheesecake golden Girl’s style. It was so heavenly though! I’ll be paying for that one for weeks!

  • does anyone know where Hannah’s circular shelf that is on her wall is from? I’ve been looking for one just like that! You can see it at 3:58🙂

  • Try poached eggs! It tastes the same as fried eggs but so much healthier. Just boil some water, then stir and while the water is still spinning, put your eggs in the water for 3 min. They are super yummy and are healthier for you:)

  • I need more suggestions on what carb substitutions to eat. Chicken and a whole punnet of cherry tomatoes. Very nice. But……………… I feel like there’s something missing.
But day 2 and I feel like my jeans are looser around the zip and button. I didn’t have a diet coke today at 15.00 because you said it generates cortisol. i didn’t know that.
I did have some carbs today when I was at work, instead of a sandwich, I had a porridge. I know that’s carbs but I hope that high fibre carbs in moderation won’t ruin this diet.

  • So true about late night snacking becoming a habit had not accepted how much it impacts weight control or lack of it now 22lbs down after years of midnight snacking! Super video from Becky as always.

  • Good evening Dr Becky…
Growing up my grandmother’s would give us a bit of mint to chew..I’ve continuously have done as such with my family..
Thank you for your suggestions it’s greatly appreciated.. Sincerely Tee Jay

  • I see this in my recommendation right after I finish eating hot Cheetos at 2am I think my phone is trying to tell me something

  • I have followed Dr Bergs advice over the months and now find myself on one meal a day and found focus is key. The weight seems to be melting away

  • Just got out of the shower and here is a video as a surprise waiting for me here:))))
I am really looking forward for your 30 day plan I will definetly join!!!! Even i recently found out i got a scoliosis and I will wear a brace on my upper body so I cannot do cardio cuz jumping is bad for my back but There is alway s a way to do it and not just to talk right?
    Thanks for being here
    Love uuu
Looking forward for your next video

  • Dude the whole day im so good not Eating to much sugar stopping when I’m full no soda no candy none of that but then at night all I want I soda and binge a bag of almonds (yes almonds are good for you but very high in calories and fat and I eat way more than serving sizes) and I just can’t stop myself

  • Overall good video. Nice background and foreground. Well covered info. and to the point. People will benefit from following this in a nutshell info. Though, weight loss has never been an issue for me. My focus is more on staying true to a healthy (KETO-LIKE DIET w/ IF) diet, maintaining proper calories intake, and keeping and/or gaining muscle tone/mass. Avoiding and aiding the pain people experience from many decades on earth.

  • When u do your food shopping don’t buy snacks/junk or processed foods. If it’s not in the house then u won’t eat it. But it’s pretty hard when u live with your family still and everyone eats differently. If I had my own place I could easily control myself by not buying it but at the moment we have a snack/junk cupboard and it’s hard to resist:(.

  • Ahhh…late night snacking. What a joy. Actually, my problem is afternoon snacking while working. Hammering out code (software development) and eating cookies go together (at least for me). So, this is what I’ve done. I don’t buy bags of cookies or any other junk food for that matter. At least nothing is kept in the house. If I want a cookie, I have to get in my car and drive 8 miles round trip to buy ‘A’ cookie. A store near me sells them single pack. So I’m always confronted with the question: do I want to make the drive? I’d say about 80% of the time I say no. Granted that leaves 20% whereby I say yes. But still, this has significantly reduced my cookie intake. And cookies are my only vice. I don’t care for chips, candy bars, pop, etc.

  • Another great video eating habits are tough to break and you have to true to yourself to reach goals like snacking that can boost insulin and stop the fat burning process. For me its stopping autophagy. Autophagy is much more important than fat loss but fat loss is a side effect. Autophagy can heal Alzheimer’s and cancer and prosate enlargement, type 2 diabetes ect… Good health is priceless and we are sending a message to our friends and family by our actions. We must stick together and change the American diet and peoples minds will follow. Im 55 and im beginning to feel explosive as a result. Yoga at night really takes away my cravings. I can do hand stands again. I just feel young again.

  • I have a habit EVERY evening at the end of the day of having a cup of tea with 1/2 Quest protein bar. Is that a habit I need to break? Thank you for your videos.

  • Ugh I have prom in July next year and exams coming up really soon and all I’ve been doing is stress eating. I want to look the best for prom but it’s hard to break this habit I think one of the issues is late night snacking, so thank you so much for this video. You somehow always know when to upload a video that will get be back on the right track of eating healthy again! ☺️

  • Hi Dr. Berg. I’m surprised you didn’t suggest ACV after last mean of the day and before bedtime to suppress cravings and appetite.

I consume 2tble spoons of ACV after all meals, and a smaller dose about 30min before bed.
I’d love to see more videos on ACV, and acidity in the body.

  • Environment is more powerful than will. If it’s not in your home, you can’t eat it! Don’t bring junky stuff into your home. That is the best advice really!

  • I’m a serious snacker and I’m trying to stop, so this really helped me out. I liked your point about being keto adapted. I was before but I’ve been doing too many cheat days now that my weight is lower, so I need to get back on track and stop snacking so I can lose fat and my last 15 pounds. Thanks!

  • I love MadFit. Her 15 min dace workouts are a perfect alternative to running. I also recommend Bailey Brown for quick effective 5 min workouts!

  • Dr.Berd it seems like you lost weight more than you supposed to be. You just seemed tired. I guess you need some fun some &sun. Ok?

  • Love these little clips keeps you on track… Just a thought has anyone seen on Netflix… What the health… I watched it open mouthed what the docs where saying about sugar carbs ect

  • Dont eat or watch a screen at least an hour before you go to be and have a normal sleep schedule (12-10) go to bed somewhat early for you, drink lots of water and stay positive about it.

  • Glad to know you can use something as a stopper. I use chocolate, prefer semi sweet bakers chocolate. A small piece gives me the “reward” and I am done. Feel completed. Maybe some mineral water and I am all good. Good intel here!

  • i would love to stop snacking.
the thing is i always find videos to stop snacking lAte at night when for me it’s more the afternoon:((
please could someone give me another tip than drinking water? thank you

edit: i do kind of an intermittent fasting, like not really, i just don’t eat before 12 in the morning, and then after eating i put a 3/4 hours timer, i try to drink water and when i’m about to go grab a snack, i just put it back where it was before opening it ♡

  • The fact that we weigh the same makes me so happy and i have no idea why. I think its just because im so used to only seeing myself in the mirror every day so i judge myself wayyy too brutally, but to be able to see someone else with a similar body type puts in all in perspective and i can see that im a lot skinnier than I thought:)))

  • Sorry Dr. Berg, I don’t agree. Lots of stuff that I’ve been taught about weight loss, I lost 110lbs (50kg) last year, is totally opposite of what you’re saying.
You say don’t eat nuts, but then say eating healthy fats help you feel full longer. Nuts are full of healthy fats!!! Hello?!?!
Eating less often makes your blood sugar get too low and triggers the desire to over eat. Small, frequent meals keeps your pancreas happy.

  • i would literally die for her body, like hannah if you see this do you do workouts that help with like a more hourglass shape? like the appearance of wider hips and a smaller waist? or are you just built like that jaha

  • Carbs are the reason I am 145 pounds:-(. I eat my dinner before 19.00. I don’t eat again until break at work the following day at 11.00, so that’s nearly 16:8 every day. I don’t drink a lot of alcohol. I’m not a chocolate fiend. it’s carbs. I have sandwiches at work. Crisps (potato chips). Pasta or rice or chips (fries) or mash or cous cous with every meal. Or if I’m hungry. Toast. I haven’t been binge eating or over eating or eating late at night, I have got in to this overweight state because 80% of my diet is carbs! Wow.

  • I am very happy to have found your YouTube channel Dr. Becky. You are so knowledgeable and give great suggestions on so many of my health issues/struggles. I really like your calm, professional tone. Thank you so much!

  • You are awesome, informative, to the point, and show what people like to see and hear in terms of health, being fit, what to consume, and what to avoid. God bless you doctor!

  • I love this! I late night snack wayyy too much and I always feel so bloated and gross the next morning. This definitely inspired me to love my body and take care of it!

  • Dr. Berg,

PLEASE, PLEASE… Which edition of Guyton’s Physiology book do you recommend? I’m suspicious of certain editions, but I trust your suggestion.

  • Sam, you’re amazing! i literally have the same body type and most tips you’ve been sharing in your videos work just perfect for me, honestly my waist has never looked better) thanks for your channel and lots of love from Ukraine! xoxo
btw are you turkish? just curious cuz your name kinda sounds like that)

  • I did a week of Keto Diet and was feeling great, then broke it on a slice of pumpkin pie and now couldn’t stop eating everything carbs for the last 3 days. Don’t know what to do. Is it common when you start keto and break it?

  • What I was hoping to learn from this video is the importance (or lack thereof) when is the end of the last meal and when you go to bed. I’ve got IF down. But 3-4 days a week, I’m finishing dinner and in bed 30 minutes to an hour later. Does this impinge on fat loss? Or is it simply a matter of better muscle/mental recovery?

  • Since I was an infant, I’ve had late night snacks. But I agree with being full from dinner has kept me from wanting to eat late. Other wise I’m up at like 3am making full course meals sometimes because I didn’t get enough throughout the day

  • Totally agree with a routine and a goal. Also don’t get the snacks into the house. Brush teeth early and flush with chemical stuff or even do teeth whitening…sure don’t want to ruin white teeth with late evening snacks. Well, it works for me.

  • I try to live my life dairy free and my favorites right now are earth balance butter and kitehill (I think that’s what it’s called) cream cheese made from almond milk. Almond breeze also makes a really good vanilla yogurt:)

  • I used to never be hungry after 5 pm…like my whole life, until I got married and cooked meals for my crappy narcissistic spouse. He stayed skinny, I put on weight and ruined my figure. Got it back, after signing up for the gym and having tiny dinner and brushing teeth right after, but my night time appetite has stayed. Now in the divorce it’s worse than ever. Now gotta get out of this rut of eating sweets late night, because I’m miserable. But I’ll get out of this.

  • Dr. Berg, I take a daily multivitamin that are with sugar (gummy bears). Since I’m doing intermittent fasting, should I take them during my feeding window or can I take them in the morning which is out of my feeding window?

  • since i eat dinner pretty early, if i ever get hungry after i love having frozen fruit with oat milk and almond butter on top so yum

  • Hey Hannah, this is such an awesome video:)
I just want to remind you that no food is ‘bad’ or ‘good’, food doesnt have inherent value or worth. I know it can be hard, but changing your vocabulary around what you eat will have a really positive impact on your life (and anyone reading this) <3

  • Does it count as late night snacking if it’s Halloween candy lmao

Love you Sam!! I love how honest u are about getting off track and starting with the basics again…same exact thing happened to me this month ahhh. I’ll definitely try out these tips to get back into it:) xoxo

  • How I stop myself from eating the whole kitchen at night: Take some melatonin before 9 pm and wake up the next day, works the best lmai

  • after years of looking for an answer on my night habitual eating even though I’m so full from dinner and wants to sleep in a full belly:-( i really want to change my mindset:-( but for years i can’t cravings and habitual night eating is very powerful:-( i like to eat in the dark thats why i start late breakfast like BRUNCH coz i will exceed in my calories for sure with my habitual eating:-( I eat High carb low fat vegan diet

  • Lmao watching this during the corona virus and I must say I eat clean allllll day then at 9:03pm I decide to have a big ol bowl of Cheerios

  • but the problem with me is not feeling full… it’s eating itself… even if i’m full to the point of throwing up at one bite, i still don’t feel content till i’ve mentally had enough of wat ever junk i’m eating……

  • it is cheaper and quicker to work on your problems yourself rather than get professional help. you also make a good point: the type of food you eat can help you avoid binge eating. however some people are unable to treat their eating disorder without professional help. if professional help lets them lead happier and more fufilling lives, it might be worth the time and money.

  • You don’t need a professional. Stop eating so much sugar and simple carbs.

Eat more vegetables and fruits. Drink more water. You’ll stay full longer and you won’t gain weight.

That’s howI lost 66 lbs in seven months without binge eating once. And I was a really heavy fucker.
