  • Hi Derek, I’ve had three pressure cookers and all took the time to build up to pressure, the first was scary and very noisy, (45yrs ago) but my latest is brilliant. Mine is a generic pot with all the same programmes but over here it cost half the price. As we are using loads of lentils rice etc and it’s great for batch cooking. So thank you for showing me about it. Making 5 bean chilli for up to 6 adults is brilliant. X Ros in Cambridge.

One resource I found that succeeds in merging these is the Lakan Food Tactic (google it if you’re interested) without a doubt the most incredible diet that I’ve heard of. look at all the before and after photos and great reviews.

  • hi guys, the best fat loss using metabolic cooking that i’ve ever had was by using the Lakan Food Tactic (just google it) definately the most useful diet i’ve tried.

  • Hi Lozza! Love your enthusiasm and videos. Is there anything protein-wise I can substitute for the chicken? I don’t eat meat (but do eat fish) and chicken just grosses me out. Open to other sources. Thank you!

  • Hello! Thanks a lot for this useful video. By the way, I hear a lot of people keep on talking about Fenoboci Diet Plan, but I’m not sure if it is really good. Have you ever tried Fenoboci Diet Plan? I have heard many incredible things about it and my work buddy lost lots of weight with it, but she refuses to tell me:(

  • I dropped 8 pounds. I cannot say enough about how amazing the “loli special plan” is. If you aren’t familiar with it, search for it on Google. You’ll be shocked by what you know.

  • Does Fenoboci Diet Plan (just google it) help me lost crazy amounts of weight? I see lots of people keep on speaking about this popular fat burn secrets.

  • You’re absolutely right. It’s not instant. I love that it is a pressure cooker and slow cooker like a crock pot. It would be there ultimate ultimate cooker if they Incorporated a sous vide function to it.

  • Nice! Another quick tip, in regards to drinking more water…if you’re peeing a lot, simply add a pinch of sea salt to your water, which will allow you to actually utilize it more.

  • Hi:)
I really like the food plan!
But I’m vegetarian and I’m a bit aimless about finding the right alternative options for chicken and tuna.
    Maybe Tofu?
I would really appreciate your advice!! Or maybe a vegetarian food plan video? ^-^

  • Hi Lozza i have a question! Since i do my workouts first thing in the morning and eat breakfast right afterwards, when would be a good time for my protein shake? Can i just replace some other meal with it? Thank you in advance!:)

  • Some so called fitness influencers are showing off their fridges stacked with junk, unhealthy though expensive food, telling people its ok to eat junk because this quarantine a hard situation, Mr Meadows show even after all this, we can still be the best we can be right now, there is no use of a strong body if you don’t have a strong brain, hats off sir,

  • Just a friendly note on food safety, by sure to thoroughly wash your scissors in hot soapy water after cutting raw chicken before cutting cooked chicken with the same scissors

  • Quarantine is hard, having gyms closed is even harder, but not having videos from you John, now that would be unbearable!
    Thank you!

  • Omg! I was just thinking of you tonight thinking you had disappeared and been busy with life. Welcome back and thanks for the inspiration

  • Now I’m regretting selling my pressure pot. Lol. I use this Breakfast combination alot. And sugar free ketchup is the bomb. I buy 4 bottles at a time

  • Loved this! I’ve always had a great feeling about getting one of those since I saw Mic the Vegan with one (: Thanks so much for sharing! I always love your videos. You’re definitely my all-time favourite fitness youtuber. Keep up the incredible work brother! ^-^

  • Just put the sauce ficture on when you put the ingredients that will warm the pot more fast and then change for the ficture you need for example cook beans will reduce the warm time in half

  • I would really appreciate seperate tutorials/videos about micromave cooking and also pressure-cooker cooking! That would be amazing:)

  • This video is going to help me a LOT with the new pressure cooker I just bought. The tip about how to decide how much liquid to come in…. for the dish to be good… is invaluable! I would enjoy more instapot shows, yes!

  • They laughed when I told them I was gonna lose fat with just using Custokebon Secrets, but after I showed them awesome effects after I used it they’re begging me to share with them about it. Of course I won’t tell them the details about this diet plan, haha

  • I have 2, but the Aldi version 6 Qt. For $40 they do everything the Instant pot does, they are basically the same pot except the pot is slightly different in size so the replacement pots on Amazon don’t fit. I don’t know if they have replacement pots for the Aldis. But they are very nice.

  • Thanks for the great videos! Have you watched Dr. Michael Greger’s hack and hold technique to activate the sulforaphane in broccoli and cauliflower (assuming you are cooking it; disregard if you are eating it raw). https://nutritionfacts.org/video/flashback-friday-second-strategy-to-cooking-broccoli/

  • I was literally reading the nutritional values of my low sugar ketchup when you said you really like it! I dunno what to think, I’m a little scared you know…

  • Soaking the beans for 12 hours is the best time, it also takes off the gassiness you get from them as well. The natural release is also a cooking time, don’t always release it. I find when I cook rice if I let it go too soon it’s not as good and it’s could be from 7 minutes natural release to 10 minutes.

  • Instant Pot is nowhere near as good as all the “truthers” out there say it is. Save you money and pass on it. I regret blowing $100 on it. Wasted money.

  • This is great! We are thinking of purchasing one but wanted to know more about the benefits etc! Thank you! We are going out to get one!

  • Oh, need a sauce? Oil Free Tali Sauce

    (Good on Everything)

    1/2 cup raw sunflower seeds

    1 can chickpeas, drained

    6 cloves garlic

    3/4 cup Nooch (nutritional yeast)

    1 tsp dry mustard powder

    1/2 cup lemon juice

    2 tsp onion powder

    1 tsp curry powder

    1/8 tsp cayenne ( optional)

    1 teas salt
Blend..makes quite a bit and will last for many days! I use extra large conditment squirt bottles. I trim the nozzle to make the hole bigger. Use them constantly. Amazon has them in a 6 pack. I think it was the 24 oz.

  • As a student, I’m always struggling to find meals that check off the healthy/cost effective box so I’m going to have to say that the Meals Under $1 series has had the greatest influence on me. I also love how John doesn’t try and deceive his viewers with the natural vs. enhanced dichotomy. It’s a breath of fresh air in the YouTube fitness community.

  • Get an instant pot air fryer to match your instant pot. I bought one for $119 CAD at Canadian tire about $88 USD. Egg plant, pakoras, mushrooms, sweet potato etc. come out very tasty. I think the raisins are a great idea to add some sweetness.

  • After using my Instant Pot for cooking beans, I look at my canned beans with utter disgust. The flavour… oh, the flavour with the Instant Pot. SO much better. I love it. Also, great because you can throw in frozen stuff too, not like with a slow cooker.

Rice is better flavour, beans are way better, and even steel cut oats taste better. And, I don’t have to babysit the damn stove while they’re cooking!! Great invention. Also, parts seem well made, not like some of the crappy stuff out there, the cheap stuff with Teflon liners and thin plastic parts.

  • The video below is not me..but it will give you the cooking times. I sauteed mushrooms and added chopped fresh spinach. I put in the red lentils too. It was delish and everyone in the family liked it. That’s 5 people.

  • I have a 6qt and an 8 qt. I would panic I think if I didn’t have my Instant Pots. I made Spaghetti for the first time tonight. It was good! Of course, it was vegan! No oil. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVMPPPEgBTE

  • I loved the stovetop Presto pressure cooker. They are not hard. Really.
They were common enough to be cheap, used. You could buy a new gasket set every year. Then Aluminum became a problem and the stainless steel ones were up to $100+ and *fugetaboutit*.

  • Love my instant pot! I made steel cut oats this morning. Yummy! I bought the 8 quart. I’m making it on delay cycle so warm oats in the morning.

  • I do my steel cut oats in my pot in the morning. I put it on as soon as I wake up and by the time I’ve dressed and done my stretches it’s ready to eat

  • Make sure you check out the rest of our meals under a buck https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNAUreWTt_SgeTuXsCkK63mf82OQCokvQ

  • I’ve been using a crock pot my mother gave me for about 3 decades. I’ve used a pressure cooker before, but I generally use either a rice cooker or the crock pot for rice and beans. I guess I see it as a space saver and something a little more valuable than those two devices. I also use a magnetic hot plate with a cast iron skillet. Hard to decide. Maby when one of them fails.

  • Hi Derek! I’ve been following you for quite a time now:-) I purchased an Instant Pot on this year’s Black Friday, but despite multiple cleaning attempts I can’t get rid of the plastic smell… Do you / Does anyone know a good tip what I could try? Thanks in advance!:-)

  • Oh my life
What a difference from then and NOW!!! IN YOUR PHOTO’S
    you’ve done brilliantly
Your meal ideas are great, that’s what we’ve been waiting for we now need a day in the life of “Dave the Carnivore ” ☺ including all your meals ….So look forward to your videos, they are so relaxing and tranquil do you eat one of those platefuls 4 times a day or do you cut them down to spread over the day?

  • Re the comment about retaining nutrients… the thing has a steam button… so… like I’m tired but what am I missing here lol

  • It is a great crock pot but a half A$$ pressure cooker.

My pressure cookers I set on the stove top are twice as fast and I have zero problems with the seal.

  • Sorry but in my opinion this is disgusting when you ‘re cutting @ 3:30 these pieces of meat i mean this is part of body creature that you are cutting to fit your f*ckin macros or whatever kind of burning meal plan or similar bullshits

  • Happy to see your video I’m interest to be carnivore could you please provide any method to count the protein intake a day?thank you!

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU….for not calling it Instapot. Lord, that’s my new nails-on-chalkboard bit. I mean, how hard is it? The word is on the box…”Instant”‍♀️

  • Thanks for sharing! I like the instantpot idea of cooking rice and lentil without making it mushy so use bean/chili button and boom!

  • Hi! Just wanted to add my little something!
I live in Greece and, to my knowledge, we don’t have instant pot here! But we do have the “holly” pressure cooker! Which is the same principle! I didn’t have one until almost all my coworkers mentioned cooking in it and saving so much time, so I thought I would give it a try! OMG! What a difference! Before my pressure cooker I could never cook chickpeas or anything time consuming, and afterwards I do everything!
I say that often as a joke that if I ever immigrate, I will take my clothes and my pressure cooker with!!!
Anyway, if someone here in the comments is contemplating buying an instant pot (easier) or even its older brother, pressure cooker (needs a little bit to get to know each other), just go for it! You will be able to have a home cooked meal every day if you commit! Another note: If you are a nurse (like I am), don’t wait, please run to the shop to get yours!

  • You need to give ratios. Once you have a ratio of water to bean for example then you can eye-ball going forward. You didn’t learn to drive a car by guessing!! Same with cooking. Lame excuse to say “go figure it yourself”.

  • I’m a man, I get to act helpless when it comes to any jobs typically relegated to women (i.e. cooking). Ugh cat on counter.

  • Derek, been considering getting a mealthy lid for my instapot since I don’t have an air fryer. Typically I just use the oven for like fries and tofu. What’s your thought on the lid, worth the money or stick to oven?

  • Dont forget to share with someone that BENEFIT from this! Thanks for all the support!!!:D
The full recipe list is in the description box if you wanna try this out:)

I ended up trying for the very last time with the Custokebon Secrets because my buddy who told me amazing things about it and so far to date I have effectively lost 19 lbs in 4 weeks!

  • Anyone tried the Custokebon Secrets? I’ve heard some great things about it and my sister lost crazy amounts of weight with Custokebon Secrets (look on google search engine).

  • In order to gain more muscle, there are only two things to consider: training and a good diet. Thankfully, we have Next Level Diet that provides both training and diet plan. Try not to visit their website. Trust me, you can’t.

  • I have a Ninja Foodi which does all that the Instant Pot does, and in addition it is an air fryer. It is brilliant and I use it a lot. It has a large capacity. I used to have an old-fashioned pressure cooker but this is way better because you can “set it and forget it” or release the steam when you want. I batch-cook legumes and grains and freeze them in can-sized portions because many recipes call for e.g. a 14-oz can of… I have a chart that I downloaded (can’t remember where from) that gives you lots of comparisons, weight for weight, dry vs soaked legumes, how much they expand during cooking etc. Great machine.

  • Hi Jon, thanks for all your videos. Your videos are helping me cook meals and transition to a vegan diet. I noticed that you insist on not using any oil in your stir frys. Does the oil affect the nutritional content of the stir fry or are you simply trying to keep the fat content down?

  • Love your videos, it would be awesome if you provide the quantities in ounces, or cups for US metrics instead of grams. Keep up the great work

  • A little top to make it easy.

You prepare on sunday/monday your 9 Meals.
you Set them in the fridge.

On Wednesday/Thursday you prepare the next meal prep with 9 Meals (you can use the same Meals or other meals).

You now have 18 Meals. But for 7 days (1 week) you need 21 meals.
The perfect Thing is that you now Can eat out sometimes or it with you Partner at some days or eat a “cheat” meal, but the most of the Time you are verry verrry healthy

  • I am sold… i like the fact that there is no meat involved which allows many more possible combinations… I will try these out thanks for the post! Great job.

  • Hi Lozza!
This was a really helpful video! The meals look tasty, filling and really doable. It’s so nice to watch videos from people in Australia, because I can go out and buy the same products without playing the “what can I substitute this with” game. Hope you have a lovely day:>

  • Great video and I totally understand. I have to constantly explain the carb, protein and fat question. It is amazing how much people don’t know about what those 3 things are. The fat is the hardest to make people to understand and how to add it to meal to increase the amount for a better ratio.

  • New Years 2020, this is in fridge for today’s lunch, its my favorite recipe, thank you
Pleaseeeee more videos with insta pot

  • Serious question: How much protein should a person eat in their after workout meal? Is 40 to 50 grams of protein enough in the after training meal? I tend to get anywhere from 40-50 grams of protein and 50-60 grams of carbs in my after workout/training meal.

  • I would love to see another video!:) I am cabin crew so its hard not to eat unhealthy food ie ( Crew food) so meal planning like this would be amazing!:) x

  • I have been keep telling people that you don’t have to spend a ton of money in order to eat healthy. This is one of the many cheap meals out there. Tasty, healthy and cheap. John you are the Man as always. So glad you decided to make this channel. I’ve learned so many things from your vids, from training, diet to life in general. Now what i can do to thank you is to do my best to pass on the things that i’ve learned to others and to use them the best that i can.

  • 59 cent eggs means battery cages and horrible conditions for chickens. Spend a couple more bucks and support humane practice. I don’t care how poor I am I will always pay extra in order to give animals a better life. It is the least I can for them

  • Finally a strength influencer focusing on the basic needs of one of the most overlooked and forgotten demographics, the impoverished amateur bodybuilder.

  • Bro tip! Place a plate that will cover the hash browns, while fitting inside the skillet, on top of the hash browns, flip the skillet over while holding the plate, thus flipping the hash browns, and then slide the overturned hash browns back into the skillet on the range. Some of us former fat kids have kitchen tricks like Mountaindog has gains tricks!

  • John, I have been eating this meal with the eggs scrambled and half an avocado just about every day since I was in high school 8 years ago. It never gets old

  • I was thinking of you also yesterday as I haven’t seen you lately. Love to see more of these. Possibly your grocery list for the week and cost. Great to see you back.

  • A little pricey, but everything but the bagel seasoning is perfect. I also like to soak hard boiled eggs in 1:1:3 ratio of soy sauce, mirin, and water. So yummy!

  • if you have a backyard and you are a bodybuilder on a budget, you could always get some pet chickens. they cheap and easy to care for and they provide free eggs.

  • I got my diet plan from Next Level Diet and lost 2kg in just 10 days. So far, so good. Can’t wait to see numbers on scale after 20 more days. I am so excited about this.

  • Man, I think I might have to break out the instant pot and make a big batch of eggs now. Appreciate the quality content as always.

  • I’ve had an Instant Pot now for about a year and a half. I never thought to stack the lid like that-genius! Thanks for the tips, John.

  • Once again you are right on time
    thanks Mountain dog
keepin me atleast where I was before all of this!

    better than before!!
sorry for the short change earlier.

  • My partner and i took the suggestions of a good friend and looked up “sowo hope site” on Google. It has given wonderful results to its users and worked incredibly well for me. We have already droped 6 lbs in less than the first week.

  • Derek, I wouldn’t mind if you got sponsors because I know you would only endorse products you believe on. You deserve to earn a living from all you do!

  • 1625 calories per day seems deficient to me? But you probably don’t weigh your meals, so you most likely get more then 1625 per day.
I eat very similar to you. I like keeping it simple too.
I’m down 75 lbs now but I feel like my body switched to repair mode. And I’m just riding it out then I hope to lose another 20-30 lbs.
    congratulations on your improvements,

  • Do anyone know about Custokebon Secrets? Does it really work? I hear most people lost their fat with this popular fat burn diet plan.

  • Looking at that thumbnail, thought you had a suit jacket on John Was already thinking “So John getting real real with us with these $1 meals” Much Love John!

  • I’ll be trying one of your pre workouts today; I picked up some cream of rice yesterday at the store.. no candy corn though ate to much as a kid makes me sick lol

  • I’m watching my carb intake but before I would’ve scrambled eggs in the hash browns, add onions, spinach, mushrooms. Good video though

  • John thanks for all your content! I was going to suggest if possible can you please do video about Dumbbells workout for different body parts variation cause what I come across people can still get hold of bands & adjustable dumbbells. many thanks in advance!

  • Next cooking with John live stream or what’s in Johns fridge what food he’s got stocked up what’s in the fridge *opens the fridge you not hungry you are bored walk away

  • Ive had my instant pot for 2 days and i hate it. Its going back to the store tomorrow. Mine keeps burning food. Its a pos. Dont waste your money

  • Lol at the thumbnail bro I love hash Brown’s and eggs.
Those eggs are a great deal man.
Currently making eggs, sausage and beans on toast myself

  • “Hey, this is a photo of Granny when she had abs” OMG that was just adorable:’D the most motivating thing I’ve heard r.e. fitness inspo in a while!

  • So you eat about 1500-1800 calories a day, that’s about correct with your weight loss results in terms of time frame and how much you lost, calorie deficit.

  • Putting the eggs in ordinary saucepan with hot water will boil them just the same without haven’t to worry about venting off high pressure steam!!!

  • Just a comment about blood groups and certain foods/spices. Type O should not use black pepper. White and hot peppers ok. I don’t know why but my MD gave me a blood group diet which says I can eat all 5he meat I want but no black peer or smoked salmon!

  • You gotta check out one of nutrition facts.org videos about kale. Apparently the best way to have Kale is first to cook it. And further best pressure cooked, compared to steamed, steamed in microwave and boiled.

  • Great IP recipe:
Sauté one onion chopped, three cloves garlic chopped, 1 tsp grated ginger.

Add I can coconut milk; one jar or large can of passata (strained tomato). Add some salt, pepper and 1 tsp garam masala spice and 1 tsp curry spice. Mixed well. Add one cup dried red lentils. Push down till they are under liquid. Put on IP on chili settings.

  • great vid so when you lost your 40 lbs what did you eat for ratios then seems you said this is your new plan at your current weight 165 how tall are you 165 at my height 5 f 10 i would be a stick so what was meal plan and macros when you 220 you said all the way to 165 and what kind of excersie you do.. you have a hard physical job and you excercise

  • I’m unclear what you are doing with those big pads of butter on the plate with those meals? How are you consuming it? Some of the plates just had meat and butter and coconut oil. How do you eat that stuff with the meat?

  • i forget say i’m a wrestler and i’m 95kg and i want lose fat and bulid muscle together and i;m not amatur and i have good muscles because i do fitness for 2 years but now i have too many fat in my body but my body is good and it isn’t awful ;/

  • Hi Dave, interested to know how long your eating window is now that you’re having the 4 small meals a day instead of OMAD? Also, are you still seeing weight loss on 2:1 fat to protein or are you maintaining?

  • Thanks for sharing your meals, like you I tend to have my food fried but have recently purchased a single person slow cooker as want to add some heart, kidney and livers etc. Glad your four small meals a day is working for you.

  • Excellent job. You are a pleasure to watch. I got some good ideas from your cooking demos. I cook virtually the same way. So simple, easy and delicious. Thanks.

  • Hi dave thanks for the video, I’ve never had lamb. Not sure if its readily available here. Deglazing the pan is a great idea. I’m still playing with my macros, I’ve been bloated for the last week. I’m trying 2 meals a day to see if my body is in starvation mode. I’m still experiencing all the benefits except weight loss. Not quite sure what to think of it. I had added cheese in, skipping that as of now to see the difference. Trying to be patient with my body. Beautiful field and sky. I’ve tried to research macros, and I’m not finding the answer I’m looking for. In your opinion should your fat and protein be the same numbers? I’ve read that some believe to much protein can spike insulin, where others say it will not. I’ve tried calculating and have had different results 103 fat 82 protein. 120 fat and 90 protein.

  • I have always linked word ‘diet’ with starvation, until I discoverd website *Next Level Diet*. With their diet plan, I am never hungry and I am still losing weight. Amazing!!!

  • Very thorough explanation on slow cooking and pressure cooking. I have both and I’ve never used them yet, so thank you. A side note, your body looks like you should come off like Hulk Hogan but you sound more like a gentle giant. Very cool. PS, My whole body is about the size of your right arm.

  • First what i did was watched a female youtuber cook 8lbs of chicken in her thing then found this guy, i mean i get this dude. thank you. i just need the basics man not all this “the onions and turmeric give it a power” no. i just want some chicken. I want fast chicken in this new device. 45 mins for 9 lbs? 5mins a lb, good.

thank you, im still trying to figure this thing out and its good and all but the pressure thing scared me, thanks for explaining what it is and what it does. i had no idea about the red button behind the valve; ive so far set it before work and came back to it being safe to open

  • Another quick tip for easy shredding: if you have one of those hand mixers, push it down into the chicken and then use the pulse setting and you can pretty effortlessly shred however much chicken you have while it’s still in the instant pot in about 15 seconds.

  • Hey John, did you put any water at the bottom before you started cooking? Did you hit any button or setting at first or just put it to cook manually for 45mins? I’m gonna try this out tomorrow morning, thanks!

  • Been doing this ever since I came across this video. Simple, easy, and the chicken tastes awesome. I love how the pressure cooker makes it easy to eat and it comes out like slow cooked chicken that holds better moisture/flavor. Even when I heat my meals up, the chicken still holds moisture. Pressure cooker ftw haha, thanks John!
