  • i have been on keto religiously for over 2 months and have not had 1 day registering in ketosis. I have watched every video and played with different fats and proteins. I eat 7 cups of greens a day. I haven’t even had a carrot, beet or red pepper for fear of the sugar. I’m not even using stevia at this point, I bought a breath tester thinking the strips might not be accurate. Any thoughts on the use of exogenous ketones to get into ketosis? I use MCT brain octane etc. and have a program that calculates all my macros etc. Any feedback would be appreciated from the Berg team or the community. I also use Dr. Berg’s supplements and tool. I am now fasting 23 hours with one keto meal per day of about 1200 calories alternating with a 16 hour fast with two 600 calorie keto meals. Thanks all.

  • Very poorly informed. Ketogenic dieting is highly effective in treating non alcoholic fatty liver disease as well as metabolic disorders like Type 2 diabetes.

  • the diet in general has been such an good impact in my life and is all thanks to the keto diet, but in a special way nobody else knows

  • excellent advice I will agree with the method that I follow.
I lose weight following this diet: => weightlossin3weeks. com (Google it)

  • This a video on keto diet with facts from 70 year old flawed research. Professional athletes r on keto for 20years + additionally the idea of good and bad fats is all wrong. Trans fats are completely safe and do increase your risk of heart disease. If u want a successful show plz get someone with some more creditability. Some who has actually gone through all the researches on these tops and is not giving you some old hogwash. That’s y always read stuff yourselves rather than listening to this bullshit. • When I started a year ago, I jumped right in. I did great. Lost a LOT of weight. Then..the VIRUS! I have fallen away and can’t get it together. I still have not relapsed on soda, but all the sugar and carbs. I feel so guilty. I appreciate your help. Thank you.

  • Organ meats are fine in every meal,, and one more thing Ketogenic diet is a Lifestyle,, when you adapted to it. Then you never wanted to eat carbs…she is good but not in a every aspect.

  • Appreciate the great information. When I started looking for a simple keto meal plan I found that this also really helped me: http://zawh.com/keto

  • Sometimes No advise is better than wrong advise… most of the information shared in this chat is misguided & goes against the very principles of Keto diet..keto is recomended for type2 diabetes patients as it allows the body to maintain glucose levels at a low but healthy level..

  • I’m glad that the Keto Diet is constantly getting tweaked to better understand it. I don’t call it a diet. It’s a life style to health for me.

  • I usually watch Dr Eric Berg, Dr Fung, Thomas Deleaur videos, they are much more experienced on keto life. I think you need to learn more about before giving for such interviews. Most people in india don’t accept these high fat diets and usually laugh at face (even i did until i followed it). Half-Knowledge wont work on here, so please stop saying things you assume to know. If you do this diet incorrectly it will lead to major complications which is already happening now. If you don’t know the subject either learn or leave to proffesionals. But don’t come to interviews half prepared.

  • Just depends on your goals. If you’re already fat (like me), you don’t really need to introduce a bunch of fat in your meals to reach Ketosis or lipolisis. Our body when starved of carbs will pull from our generous fat stores for energy. But if you’re relatively healthy, it’ll need extra fat intake to create ketones.

  • 2 months ago, I was fat and had single. Now I have great body and a girlfriend. Coincidence? I wouldn’t say. Trust me guys, all you need is training and diet plan. You can get both from NextLevelDiet.

  • I made my body transformation. I was able to lost 15lbs for only one month and finally started feeling healthy. I took plan from NextLevelDiet and followed their tips. Thank you #nextleveldiet

  • Perfect! Now I know why I was unable to see my abs even on Keto. Too much fats was it. I should have cut them after 6 months when I got adapted.

  • Wow, That was one of the most informative talks on Keto I’ve heard. Learned a whole lot of things not mentioned elsewhere when discussing this topic

  • I am having the damnedest time getting my fat up over 50%. Carbs I have no problem with I can stick under 20 30g, protein though that’s always about 50-70g. I just don’t see how people can eat so much fat without the protein.

  • i would not recommend anyone to follow ketogenic diet. I have done it. Its not good fr ur body. U have mood swings, gassy stomach, other side effects. You will be at ur worst. NOT recommended fr ppl who have hectic lifestyle. Its also not good to ur body to have such violent shocks. Jst keep ur macros in check, exercise & take vitamins & do regular medical check ups, Stop smoking & drinking, avoid junk food. U will live aaram se. Its all wat u r putting inside.

  • I’m starting keto tomorrow and I’m very excited! I have a horrible sugar addiction and it’s just written in my brain chemistry I can’t get away from it but I’m moving into paleo after 2-3 months of keto (I don’t really want to lose an astronomical amount of wait I really just want to change my brain) I’m gonna move in to paleo and beat my food addiction

  • I do not understand and I have been looking for months for this answer but I am no finding it. My pink salt says that it is 1/4 TSP is 1.1 grams of salt. It says it has 420 mg of sodium. But if sodium is not salt then where do I get up to 5 grams of sodium from? So if I was to take in pink salt to hit the 5 grams of sodium a day I would need to have 2.5 teaspoons of pink salt a day?

  • Dr. Stephen Phinney is right, in Carnivore diet most people tend to eat 2 pounds a day; so by increasing the protein you get enough potassium. But make sure as he mentioned to get real food, eat 2 pounds of rare steak rather than processed food if you want to become carnivore for longer. Otherwise you will need bone broth or other source to get the minerals for long term run.

  • I have been on Keto for five weeks now lost 11lbs and love it, I had a gastric bypass 5 years ago lost 180lbs but over the past couple of years put back on 60lbs due to falling back into bad snacking habits, I cannot eat large meals but have small meals and keto snacks is that ok thanks

  • 8:41 “3 hours of exercise per week = 1 hour+ lifespan.” So, by math if I work out 3 hours per week for a year, that’s 3*52=156 hours=6.5 days will get me 52 hours=2.16 days or extra life span in a year. Totally not worth it.

Just kidding.. thanks for the info.:)

  • I’ve been doing keto for 2 weeks now and I miss carbs and sugar a lot. It feels like a punishment. It’s also very time consuming since you have to make a lot of things from scratch. What bugs me the most is the fact that you can’t have cheat meals or cheat days.

  • Is Custokebon Secrets helpful to lost crazy amounts of weight? We have read numerous good things about Custokebon Secrets (google search it).

  • Great job Leanne! I have your “The Complete Keto Diet” book and it has been super helpful. I have lost 27 lbs. in three months and feel great. Thanks for your help. Nice to see a women from Calgary (my hometown) doing so well. You go girl!

  • The saturated fats do not affect glucose/insulin/cortisol. She seems to have the same comments that I have experienced. Health is most important and your gut/brain working. Intermittant fasting very good.

  • Excellent concisely packed information on diet. The packaged food was a no no as per your video then why this recommendation of proteins for him and her

  • He says eat fresh food and then he gets the sponsorship of oziva! We should not eat stored food like oziva as per sattvik rules. It might also have ingredients that’s not available a few km away from one’s home! Hypocrisy ka bhi limit hota hai

  • THESE CHARTS ON SALT AND POTASSIUM THAT YOU USE ARE THESE PEOPLE THAT WERE STUDIED ON THE KETO DIET OR THE SAD DIET OR CARNIVORE OR WERE THEY ALL MIXED UP. IF THEY WERE ON ALL THREE THEN I WOULD THINK THAT THESE FINDINGS WOULD NOT BE ACCURATE.

  • Watching this video for research purpose and eating banana with crackers. lol! Eyes wide open when he mention food to avoid during late night, which is banana. Guilty as charged.

  • How do you then cycle the protein? Insulin and mTOR are strongly implicated in the relationship between diet and aging (Burnett et al., 2011, Fontana et al., 2010, Kapahi et al., 2010). Amino acids, particularly branched-chain amino acids (BCAA), are key signals for insulin release and mTOR activation (Chotechuang et al., 2009, Yang et al., 2010)

  • This made me take a good look on my lifestyle, though my parents made me follow most of it, I still think that this is definitely moving. Thank you! I’ve watched everyone of your video, they are all very helpful. Thank you!

  • Sunrise to sunset????
So if in Norway I have to eat 6 months and hungry for another 6 months.and no non veg…..?so that’s why vikings were so strong and smart.

  • All well said by ayurveda but it gives one wrong message to Indian adults. Milk!
Focus on consumption of milk has become bad in modern times. Both in terms of animal cruelty and lactose intolerance. Adults are not biological meant to take too much milk, it has brought serous heart diseases in India.
Also humans are the only species who actually drink milk from another animal, that too life long, milk is something natures gives to nourish a growing baby. Milk consumption atleast too much is bad!

  • Many people are on keto for the mental acuity and the plethora of studies showing cognitive enhancements through keto. Those same studies used a true keto diet consisting of 90% fat.

I’m sure if moderate to relatively high protein will translate to same.

  • I LOST 40lbs!!! You ask how? I visited website called NextLevelDiet. I selected only food I like and they provided me with DIET MEAL PLAN, TRAINING PLAN, FITNESS TIPS and HEALTHY RECIPES.

  • ive been on my own version of the keto diet, that i heard is called the “carnivore” diet. my meals consist of 100% meat. nothing else, and i also take a daily vitamin, and ive lost 140 lbs starting Christmas day 2019 to now. started at 405 and am now 265 and still going

  • Thomas, How about starting your upcoming videos for the next 2 weeks, with a picture and short explanation of what you have eaten so far that day and what you plan on for your next meal. So we can have a real life look into what you are eating each day while on Keto or not.

  • In the US, NoSalt by the French’s company (the yellow mustard people) is all potassium salts, but it tastes horrid. I either mix what I want for the day with one egg, cook it and choke it down, or dissolve it in warm water and toss it back like a shot. The egg is less traumatic-lol.

  • I heard that you don’t need to take in much fat if you are fat, it will burn the fat on you, it’s the thinner people like Dr berg that need the fat as they don’t have much fat to replace the sugar with. Am I right?

  • I have already utilized this guide for a few days already and also the results are impressive. They give me lots of strength and also suppress my urge for food, but I do NOT quit once they wear off which I really like, and they also don`t make me jittery. I have not changed anything else I`m doing and also have shed 7 lbs. Find a right weight is not easy, you can discover by Google. Program’s name is under.

    good luck

  • Hello (: You make awesome videos. I have on question: are you able to do like a shop with me video for the whole week? I want to start keto but my issue is I’m on a budget and I don’t know what to buy for one week of food.

  • Hi Ive been in 2 weeks so far. I don’t feel hungry as often, I do little snack type lunch, then I have reasonably early dinner around 4-5pm. No food until next morning 8am. Cut out Cab 90%, I only have your keto bread. Problem is I have severe eye ache and headache. Other than that mostly good.
I read its one of keto flu symptoms.
I hope it goes away soon.

  • I got a calculation of 30 grams or 1.06 oz of carbs; 63 grams or 2.22 oz of protein, and 99 grams or 3.49 oz of fat. Does that sound right? That is not a lot of food. But I have found that eating too much protein takes me out of ketosis. I really need to get on a proper macros ratio to help me recover. Thanks!

  • Dude where the hell do you get all your fat from. You say high protein high fat, well if I eat 150g of protein for my body weight a day (which is almost nothing) and then I’m left with eating fats??? What do I eat??

  • I’m English and hearing you explain how to make the matcha tea gave me anxiety: use a spoon to stir and add milk not creamthank you (also love these videos)

  • Very informative! But what about a VERY sedentary WOMAN eating twice a day? With 2000 cal I would explode! I do between 1400 and 1600 a day.

  • Do you mean 250 grams of proteins as 250gr of food which is a protein source? Like 250 grams of chicken?

Because anyway for reaching 250g of protein you need to eat 800 grams of chicken in a day!

  • Thanks Thomas! What about a strength training workout based on barre, Pilates, and yoga? Would that demand more petite in like weight training since you are using your body as resistance and lighter weights?

  • I recently start cycling high fat w low protein day and high protein and low fat days….will be interesting to see the results in a week or two. Been Keto for 10 months now.

  • The term “macronutrients” (or macros, as some call them) and macronutrient profiling (the customization of ratios to fit an individual’s health or fitness goals or needs) are hot topics in the health and fitness industry these days. But what exactly do these terms mean for you and your clients? As it turns out, one’s choice of macronutrients can have a significant effect of the achievement of specific goals (endurance, strength, fat loss, weight gain, etc.).

“Macro” is a Greek word that means “large,” which, in the context of nutrition, relates to the size of the nutrient and its importance in energy balance. In basic terms, this balance can be defined as “energy in” (calories taken into the body through food and drink) versus “energy out” (calories being used in the body for daily energy requirements). Energy (or calories) is the core of nutrition and health, and the foundation for this energy comes from the three macronutrients: carbohydrates, proteins and fats.

A macro-based diet looks at the percentage combination or ratios of carbs, proteins and fats in a person’s diet rather than total calorie counts alone. These traditionally have been set as percentages for total calories, falling somewhere within the following USDA guidelines:

    Carbohydrates: 45 to 65 percent

    Protein: 10 to 35 percent

    Fat: 20 to 35 percent

These guidelines provide a very broad range for each of the macros, however, so how do you determine which ratio or range is right for an individual’s particular needs and goals? Recent research and position stands have helped narrow these ranges quite a bit. Below is a review of some basic recommendations for macros, along with some strategies to help educate clients on their individual nutritional needs.

    Carbohydrate

Provides fuel during high-intensity exercise and for the brain

Spares protein (to preserve muscle mass during exercise)

    1 gram of carbohydrate = 4 calories

    Active Individuals (General Fitness Program)

45 to 55 percent total carbohydrates [3 to 5 grams per kg of body weight (g/kg) per day]

    Medium to High-intensity Training (1 to 2 hours per day, 4 to 6 days/week)

    55 to 65 percent total carbohydrates (5 to 8 g/kg per day)

    1 to 1.5 g/kg post-workout (3:1 ratio of carbohydrate to protein)

Weight Loss or Decrease Body Fat

45 to 50 percent total carbohydrates (3 to 4 g/kg per day); choose lower-glycemic carbohydrate sources, particularly later in the day

5 g/kg post-workout; choose lower-glycemic carbohydrates or low-fat carbohydrate/protein sources such as fruit or cottage cheese

    Protein

Used for building, repairing and maintaining body tissues

Involved in metabolic, transport and hormone systems

Component of enzymes that regulate metabolism

    1 gram of protein = 4 calories

    Active Individuals (General Fitness Program)

    10 to 15 percent total protein (0.8 to 1.0 g/kg per day)

    Medium to High-intensity Training (1 to 2 hours per day, 4 to 6 days/week)

20 to 30 percent total protein (1.5 to 2 g/kg per day); this is equivalent to 5 to 10 servings of quality protein sources per day

    2 to 0.3 g/kg post-workout (3:1 ratio of carbohydrate to protein)

Weight Loss or Decrease Body fat

25 to 30 percent total protein (1.5 to 2 g/kg per day); a protein intake of approximately 25 to 30 percent of calories has been shown to boost metabolism by up to 80 to 100 calories per day, compared to lower-protein diets
    Fat

    Energy reserve

    Protects vital organs

    Insulation

    Transport of fat-soluble vitamins

    1 gram of fat = 9 calories

    Active Individuals (General Fitness Program)

    25 to 35 percent total fat (0.5 to 1.0 g/kg per day)

    Medium to High-intensity Training (1 to 2 hours per day, 4 to 6 days/week)

Approximately 30 percent total fat (0.5 to 1 g/kg per day)

Choose minimal to low-fat preand post-workout nutrition to allow for better digestion and absorption of carbohydrates and proteins
Weight Loss or Decrease Body fat

    20 to 25 percent total fat (0.3 to 0.5 g/kg per day)

Choose higher sources of unsaturated and essential fatty acids (such as fish oils, nuts/seeds, vegetable oils, etc.) to support immune system and metabolism

  • I dont know about this Thomas. You have to be talking about proteins and fat for men because I would be big as a house eating that much food period. Proteins is not my best friend as a 55 yr old diabetic

  • Hi Leanne, I just love your Keto Beginning book! I’m stuck on one thing though. I work in a demanding job and I can never figure out what to eat for lunch. I tried (before I considered Keto) bringing greens and a scoop of cottage cheese but this just resulted in me throwing out a lot of smelly reusable lunch boxes full of rotten food. If I can’t sit at my desk and eat something with my fingers while I type I’m just not going to eat anything. Do you have any ideas of what I can take with me to work? On days that I work is it a problem if I just skip your suggested meal but still follow the rest of the day? Any thoughts you (or anyone else) has would be greatly appreciated!

  • My whole journey has been trouble shooting. There is a ton of “keto” foods I can no have without being kicked out of ketosis. Can’t even touch “sugar free” anything. I vlog it daily so people can learn from my experience.

  • No, no, no He said so many times that too much protein will kick out of ketosis and NOW having a lot of protein is OK, SO CONFUSING

  • I really enough your videos, and I am getting a lot out of them. I had my gallbladder remove a few years ago, so how will this affect fat consumption?

  • Many people are on keto for the mental acuity and the plethora of studies showing cognitive enhancements through keto. Those same studies used a true keto diet consisting of 90% fat.

I’m sure if moderate to relatively high protein will translate to same.

  • Iv been following keto since October and had great success however I took a few days out and since getting back in to ketosis my ketones are reading 9+ for days and I can’t figure out why, I’m not diabetic but still hitting ketoacidosis and its stressing me out is it a bad idea to carry on

  • Perfect! Now I know why I was unable to see my abs even on Keto. Too much fats was it. I should have cut them after 6 months when I got adapted.

  • What if you are doing a lot of both cardio and weight training depending on the day? What would that look like? Thanks for all the information, appreciated

  • the big issue is………. after your fat adapted…. no one on you tube wants to tell you what to do unless you pay for it…. so many people just go their own way and struggle.. or find their own way to do keto… all the you tubers want you to pay for that information…. no where does anyone say what to do after fat adapted………….. thats obviously expensive information… people say lower your fat… add more protein,… but then nothing else…. i know you have to gradually decrease calories…

  • Very informative! But what about a VERY sedentary WOMAN eating twice a day? With 2000 cal I would explode! I do between 1400 and 1600 a day.

  • Thomas in the 1960 ‘ s the two top low carbohydrate diets were Dr. Irwin Maxwell Stillman and Dr Robert Atkins were the leaders the difference between was Dr Stillman limited fat

  • This is really helpful. I’m currently trying to build muscles and lost belly fat on a ketogenic diet, and I needed to know what specific ratio of protein and fat do I need to intake in order to get the results I need.

  • Not macro related.. but what’s with this coffee on empty stomach being bad study?

  • These fad diets are horrible. Just eat mostly healthy carbs from rice and potatoes, eat nuts, fruits, vegetables, low amounts of meat etc and if you stay under your caloric goal every day you will lose weight and not feel like shit!

  • Dr phinney, I have an awful feeling that because of the low fat eating that most women have been eating for the past three decades, especially while pregnant has given rise to all of these children with auto immune disease, I feel guilty but not culpable! I have three sons in their twenties, one with Crohn’s disease and all with varying degrees of depression and poor immune systems! SAD stupid American diet!

  • HELP: I’ve been on a 1200 calorie per day for 5 weeks and lost 7kg (was 122kg). I walk at least 5 times per week (30-40mins) and 3 times a week do some arm/stomach exercises. I’m trying to change my diet to Keto but really struggle with the amount of protein and fat I need to eat per day. With the 18:6 intermittent fasting, I struggle to fit that much food in 6 hours. With a 1200 calorie diet, what should my protein to fat ratio be? Currently I have 10% carb, 30% protein and 60% fat (30g, 90g, 80g)

  • Please do a video that pulls it all together. When you factor in fasting, eating windows, breaking a fast delicately, only 30 to 40 gr. per meal for proper protein assimilation, etc. etc, (the many variables you’ve mentioned on other occasions), how do you get in 250 grams of protein? Isn’t that like 3 1/2 pounds of hamburger?! My head is spinning…

  • As expert, I do think Custokebon Secrets is good way to lost crazy amounts of weight. Why don’t you give it a shot? maybe it is going to work for you too.

  • excellent advice I will agree with the method that I follow.
I lose weight following this diet: => weightlossin3weeks. com (Google it)

  • Dr Phinney is arguably THE Authority ( especially when it comes to answering questions which are not directly answered by research published thus far.) If you are interested in a 1 hr professional development investment you will not do better than this. This is ketosis 401 not 101. Kind Regards Dr John Stewart BVSc

  • I used your link for Butcher box, but the price isn’t any cheaper than when I went there on my own. Is there a code? Or is there no real discount.

  • Yes, yes, yes! Finally people are getting on board with higher protein keto! Isn’t science wonderful?! I’d rather burn body fat than plate fat. Staying in ketosis only requires extremely low carb intake, not high fat intake.

  • I love this types of videos because I can relate a lot, my story is that I have lost over 65 pounds in 2 month while doing the keto diet and I have the blessing to share how did it.

  • Thomas!!! Been keto (more like carnivore) for a long time and my ketones stay REALLY LOW (like under.5)… and low or high protein doesn’t seem to make a difference… Thanks

  • im a 6’3″ guy 252 lbs, started the higher fat version 12 days ago at 259 lbs, but am not dropping the weight like others seem to. I def dont look good with my shirt off and am at the gym with cardio and the weight machines. So working out is my large goal. and focus. My macros were 20 carbs, 167 fat and 124 protein. I struggle struggle to get that much protein and im someone who used to go to Panda and get the three item plate and wolf it down. So does this mean I should essentially flip the macros and make the protein 167 and the fat 124?

  • Yo Thomas can you make a video about appetite loss? I have seen all your videos and they are amazing and informative.. I’m on my third week and i have lost 6 kilos. I know the expectation is to decrease appetite but not completely loss it:( not sure how to handle it..
Today i decided to start fasting but I haven’t seen any videos related to that.

  • I’ve been experimenting with carnivore…I’ve noticed that my ketones are lower, significantly. I’ve been trying to keep my fat intake up in the ketogenic area that I typically have for the last 500+ days of keto. I’ve seen others who, doing carnivore, have ketones in the 3.0-3.8 ranger. I haven’t gotten any higher than 1.8 and typically see 0.3-0.8. Do I need to concern myself with this or not? I’ve also noticed that even when doing IF (18/6) that my BG is higher than it normally is on keto. Normally, I run between 70-85. On carni, I’ve been running 80-99 and a couple of times 105. What would be the reason for this? I track everything so I’m not seeing where this is all coming from. I do notice that I don’t have the brain function that I do in keto. I miss that BDNF that I’m used to on keto. Any help is appreciated. I don’t know if anyone else has experienced anything like this. Not sure if it’s worthy of a video. I’ve watched your carnivore video several times and then this video made me ask all of these questions. Thanks in advance. Love your content. Just FYI. Using keto and much of your advice on how to do it right and healthily, I’ve lost 120 lbs and have nearly perfect vitals and blood work. Thank you! Down from 295 more than a year ago and this morning I weighed in at 174.

  • the title is a bit misleading, i didn’t get to see what a day of eating high fat looks like at all, u just gave some shitty boring descriptions, I’m unsubscribing

  • What about that protein processing in the body for energy actually demands energy? Breaking down protein is not energy positive Thomas said himself once. And, what about that protein used in building muscle? Not burned, so you can’t take it into energy balance sheet…

  • thanks for the info, you and flavcity help me extensively on how to shop for my groceries, organic diet and gluten free, I’m skinny dude athletic like lift weights at the gym weekly!

  • 60% protein? Damn that is high.. Here he stands talking about mere 150 250g of protein and here I sit with a 60% calculation of 350g protein..
If I take a study from about 3 years ago, it said somewhat arout 1.6g 1.8g per kg bodyweight. That takes me around 160g protein.
I guess I’ll walk somewhere in between then, talking about 250g. It’s gonna be interesting for sure.

  • Intuitively, it only makes sense to lower fat intake on keto. To burn our own body fat, it doesn’t make sense to add so much to our diets. On maintenance levels, it would make more sense.

  • I made my body transformation. I was able to lost 15lbs for only one month and finally started feeling healthy. I took plan from NextLevelDiet and followed their tips. Thank you #nextleveldiet

  • Hello Doc, I am Keto adapted, was doing it for last 80 odd days. Now I decided to stop it, because it is difficult to maintain it. But I can do it again for two daysa week, is there any merit in it?

  • Improved keto diet books that assist people..

That keto diet source support me a lot.

  • I now go for walks early in the morning and I can’t wait to listen to talks like these on my phone while I walk. I’ve listened to this one a few times and I’m still not bored. I look forward to getting up now. I’ve being doing keto for some time now now. It’s helped me lose weight, get rid of anxiety and depression, improve mental clarity, focus and concentration, memory, arthritis and nerve pain. I’m not obsessed with food anymore. So many benefits. It’s just a shame I can’t get my family to listen or believe me when I try to tell them about what I’ve learnt over the years with low carb/keto eating.

  • I believe the good Dr./Ph.d. Addressed much of this, yet I want to present my questions. My mother, 74 years old, has emphysema related COPD with hypertension and congestive heart failure, is over weight by at least 60#, chronically low potassium, inflammation, and is on a host of pills to mitigate all this. Would the ketogenic diet help her and in what was?

  • Complex carbs are a primary source of prebiotic fiber, with as many books and videos and research on this, showing its importance….where do the prebiotics come from in the keto diet?

  • I have always thought that dieting is eating only green vegetables and drinking water. NextLevelDeit proved me wrong. I am eating delicious and nutritionally rich food and still reaching my fitness goals.

  • 600 cal of protein of 2000 is 30%. Keto diet limit is 20%. So if you use 30%, then the diet is now called Atkins. Tom has switched to Atkins silently.

  • Either my T3 isn’t working or the fact that my gllbladder having been removed was the culprit. I had to go on meds to lose weight, even on strict keto.

  • Hi dr Steve, can i please ask you about the uric acid on keto. Mine is very high although i don’t have gout or kidney stones. My dr wants me on Allopurinol. Please advise me

  • I can tell you one thing from my perspective.
I had no problem dropping carbs in my food, I can literally stick to that 6 out of 7 days a week very easily.
Why is it so easy? I still drink beer and wine.
I have implemented low carb beer to lessen the sugar even further, wine i don’t see as an issue atm.
I notice when i have a normal beer now.
I have one sugar with my one coffee a day as well.
I am pretty close to a carnivore type of diet atm, loads of steak, all beef sausages on the weekend, all bbq of course, it’s the aussie way.
Eggs of course and chicken crumbed keto, and some salmon.
Never felt better, stronger and gaining muscle mass at will, at 52.

I am lucky I guess as I take no medications except for my one gout attack as i am not prepared to drop just yet, you would understand if you ever had it. Also smoked 37 years.
I have no real weight issues, maybe 5kgs would be nice to drop.
Trust me when I say this, this LCHF lifestyle is an inflammatory killer, you would have to be pretty unlucky not to reap benefits from this kind of eating/lifestyle.

  • On ‘lite’ salt we have not been able to find potasium chloride or a blend of sodium chloride with potassium chloride that did not have added chemicals. Instead, bone broth is a good source of minerals, and is ridiculously easy to make. This is what used to be called simply broth, or clear soup. A splash of organic apple cider vinegar in a slow cooker with the bones and scraps from whatever meat you have available helps the minerals to be released from the bones. Simmering the broth for 2-3 days also helps. In the not long ago past, everyone used to keep a pot of broth simmering over the fire, woodstove, or on the back burner.

Adding a good measure of unprocessed salt (Himalayan,Redmonds, etc) enhances the flavor, and also helps provide the salt we need. Other herbs can be added to taste.

Of course, 100% grassfed beef or lamb or other herbivore, or pastured poultry or pork that have been raised without chemicals or chemically contaminated feed is ideal.

  • I think many viodes online mislead people, they keep telling people to eat more fat, etc to lose weight. I had an over weight coworker, baking fatty beacons during work hours (we have a mini roaster), I wonder how she can lose fat when she already have so much body fat…make sense! That’s why I’m keep my fat intake to little so I can burn my body fat first!! my weight went from 140-138 to 134-133 in 7 days!:)

  • Grass fed cows and pasteurized chickens are happy to give us their lives so we can feel a little better….
If you can handle being there a the time of their slaughtering, I guess it is ok.

Thanks!

  • Most people are saying that protein will not effect Ketones but seems like he is saying it really does. So hard to know what to believe. I am 190 pounds and I hear I should have 58 grams a day all they way to about 200 grams a day. I don’t want to be to low.

  • What a great presentation, you have Q and A included as well.
Inflammation was my enemy for well over 3 decades, most because of my lifestyle.
I am slowly weening off carbs and have never felt better, inflammation fell faster than you can count.
Now it is my beer I need to tackle, my last vice.
Glad to hear wine is ok here and there as I love a red or white as well.
I know, I have a drinking obsession like most Aussie men do.

  • I have a seizure disorder that. I was born with and this keto diet has helped me to heel and. I feel good about watching theses videos on YouTube

  • Very FEW people know how much protein they actually need. But if they even use a go-by like MFP it gets them started in the right direction with this information.

  • Thomas I love your channel and have seen most of your videos, If fat doesn’t necessarily mean more energy. If I’m training muay Thai 2x a day 5x a week and weight lifting and I notice brain fog and not peak performance… Wouldn’t carbs be a better option?

  • just had avacado, bacon, egg, spinach, onion sandwitch….. o so good.. and healthy too.. who says bacon isnt good for u.. its got fats and protein.. no carbs.. no nitrites or nitrate bacon ofc

  • He never goes into ketosis’ affect on cancer. I guess that’s because there don’t seem to be definitive studies, but I wish he would look in to this.

  • Another piece of advice I adopted about 20 years ago, which ties into that hour that Aaron touches on in this video.
Stop watching bullshit on TV, mainstream is what I mean, follow your fave YT channels, indulge in lectures and presentations from low carb events free on YT.
You actually learn great information, and it will keep you motivated at the same time.

This, among a couple of other things helped me out of the worst stage I have experienced in my 50 plus years of life.

Kudos Aaron, great stuff here brother.

  • T1Diabetes Mellitus and don’t need to loose weight -but I am how do I work out how much fat. Do you also have any good references for those living with T1DM to obtain the regenerative, detoxifying, clean fuel benefits of a Keto & IF lifestyle?

  • Thank Joanna! I’ll love to have breakfast like these everyday. But is butter really healthy to have it daily? I add cheese in my daily diet, but not butter.

  • Hello there! Thank you for this useful video. By the way, I notice lots of people keep on talking about Custokebon Secrets (google search it), but I’m not sure if it is good. Have you considered Custokebon Secrets? I have heard many unbelivable things about it and my friend lost tons of weight with it, but she refuses to tell me:(

  • This was so informative! Thank you, Dr Phinney, so much for educating us and supplying the support we need to continue on this life style because God knows that there is very little support in the vast medical community. I am a big believer in consuming bone broth and have been making it for years. Never thought to put lite salt in my broth, but sure will now. This low carb healthy fat plan has changed my life!

  • I thought alcohol is prioritized in your liver to be broken down, above glucose and fats, which would temporarily stop ketone production, kicking you out of ketosis. Keotsis could then resume once the alcohol had been processed into fat.

  • My hubby haa done keto and lost 35lbs. The first time I tried it I lost 7lbs in 7 days. But we gained it back so time to kick it back in gear. I love more tips and recipe ideas!!

  • shame on you Phinney, you’re telling people to heay up the olive oil and cook with it?………… since when is that a good idea?

  • With respect to the drop off in ketones for long term ketogenic nutrition in TD2 I see this in myself. I was pre DB2 (reversed). My fasting glucose has elevated in morning from prior context of about 75-90 mg/dL to often now 101-106 mg/dL with decent ketone generation (.7-1.1 mmol/L). I interpret this phenomena as more efficient use of ketones and also a reset of basil glucose levels to higher a new normal. I am also higher levels of protein since I do heavy gym workouts and focusing on LBM simultaneous with body fat loss.

  • Carnivore keto variants can simply add extra potassium using popular salt-substitutes like “Nu Salt” which is Potassium. I had generous amounts of extra potassium and sea salt. My resting heart rate is idling now at around 44 BPM and my BP is in very healthy range too (106/64).

  • As a type one, my blood glucose drives the ketoacidosis and it has to be quite high. Eating low carb protects against it. When I get sick, however, bg will rise even if I eat nothing so must be closely monitored and leveled with insulin.

  • Thanks Thomas… I completely understand nothing you just said. When giving stats, I understand Oz’s. Let’s say, 6 oz of protein. 6oz’s of fats ( ie: brie cheese, olive oil, avocado). Any other metrics go over my head. After 4 years on keto it’s hard to follow all your changing and shifting opinions.

  • Another piece of advice I adopted about 20 years ago, which ties into that hour that Aaron touches on in this video.

  • Australian nutrition labels all list fibre separately carbs ie the ‘carbohydrate’ listed is net carbs. To calculate total carbs (if that’s what you’re tracking) you’d have to add darbs and fibre together.

  • Type 1 diabetic and 20g of carbs and 70g of protein keto diet here. I sometimes run up to 4.0-5.0mmol/L of ketones, but always with a decent blood glucose of between 3.5-5.5mmol/L. I feel fine when ketones go high like that, always hydrated and I have sodium in the form of salt with my water, and insulin always at hand. Dr Bernstein says high ketones do not matter if blood glucose is at the optimum range. Should I still be concerned?

  • I started IF earlier this month and gradually decreasing the intake of rice from my meals in order not to get into shock or cravings. I went OMAD 2 weeks ago and full Keto on the 20th. Have no problem watching people eating rice and bread in front of me. Yesterday my staffs force strawberry on me and I said no, I don’t feel like eating one and I was still fasting. Today I managed to put my old sweater that I bought back in 2012.

Btw 1 question. Was it possible to maintain OMAD for years? I’m very comfortable with it and don’t plan to go back to where I was before but I heard that I need to break it and eat normally for 1 or 2 weeks in order to raise my metabolism back and avoiding weight rebound.

  • I would love to obey all the factors u mentioned in ur video, but Maggie is extremely nostalgic…. can I have cheat days for it?

  • The slide on sodium was mind blowing! I have had problems with muscle twitches and spasms since childhood. I also developed intractable a-fib in my 30’s. Not once did a doctor talk to me about electrolytes, even though when I ended up in the ER back in 2008 in a-fib with a BPM close too 200, they found my potassium was dangerously low. I had to be given intravenous potassium.

I grew up in a household where eating salt was discouraged. So, when I went on a low carb diet the first time I was eating little salt. Now I know that low salt throws off your magnesium and potassium. After supplementing mag pot, and even calcium over the years to regulate things, I heard about drinking salt water. What a difference it has made! It has greatly lessened the muscle twitches, but not entirely. After seeing this slide, I’m thinking I may still not be getting enough. My mind is blown!

  • Jesus Christ! This talk has so much gold in it… not the least of which is regarding alcohol and salt (from the 40 minute mark through the next 10 minutes or so)… two things people like, and two things a keto diet permits (and for salt, encourages). Those two things could be leveraged to gain adherence (and adherents) to the diet, but would also cause a huge scandal. lol!

  • What if you are doing a lot of both cardio and weight training depending on the day? What would that look like? Thanks for all the information, appreciated

  • I did not understand, please explainI have low blood sugar issues. Are you saying I need more fat, or less fat to make it through the day, or to the next meal?

BackgroundI was never overweight, but I have blood sugar issues. I guess I’d say I do keto for health., I’m at my target weight, possibly even underweight (5’6, 116#) I do I.F. because I just plain like it, LoL, I hate the full feeling all day long otherwise. BUT I suffer from low blood sugar in the morning. I struggle to make it to noon for breakfast, (from dizziness, not from hunger!) I have high fat coffee in the morning. and of course fat doesn’t stop the low blood sugar like carbs would… So what can I do in the mornings, or just anytime of day to deal with hypoglycemia? I have been eating like this for months or more. When will I adapt better so my body will use ketones to combat hypoglycemia, if they In fact do? (Correct me if I’m getting that wrong all together, and that that is not what to expect!)

  • omg, i’ve been on keto for like 2 months and you eat so much more than i do! You’re actually losing weight 3 meals + 1 dessert? I’m pretty sure, for me, that would increase too much insulin. I had to go down to 2 meals per day and my stomach isn’t big enough to fit as much you do:P

  • Super long video:(. It would have been helpful if you could please cut through all the fluff and make more concise videos about the topic in question Thank you xxx

  • You come across as such a nice person I am going to tell you something that might shock you, kale contains goterogin called THIOCYANATE,simerlar to cyanide, when kale was fed to sheep the lambs were born deformed, the same thing with cattle and calf’s,feed kale to sheep and cattle stopped pretty quick after those results, when children drank the milk from cattle that had been fed kale, they developed serious problems, don’t take my word for this, check out the science, and watch YouTube. Video, the vegetable myth.

  • Thomas, How about starting your upcoming videos for the next 2 weeks, with a picture and short explanation of what you have eaten so far that day and what you plan on for your next meal. So we can have a real life look into what you are eating each day while on Keto or not.

  • Ayurveda is the biggest load of crap,It has been debunked by scientists many times. For example what if u live in a dessert? Should you not eat at all?

  • My girlfriend was on this diet for a year, it gave her huge gall stones, and now she is scheduled to have a gallbladder removal operation! You’ll pay the price!

  • Don’t do it guys… it might help you lose weight in short term but it brings complications later. http://www.womenshealthmag.com/weight-loss/ketogenic-diet?amp

  • when you say bad fat and say butter and ghee are bad fat it shows you are a quack.. saturated fat is best for keto. keto is good for diab 2. i guess u shud stop

  • It would have been much better if I learned this unique guide a few years back. I burned 12 lbs in 3 weeks so far. However I exercise several times a week, and also eat right. The end result shown to me is impressive. Definitely, this is important and I do hope this would deliver the results to you too because it did to me. Find a right weight is not easy, you can research by Google. Guide’s name is under.

    good luck

  • Why pander to vegans when you are not vegan? Veganism is unhealthy and fattening and
I have the 40 extra lbs to prove it. I came here hoping to get some real keto tips.

  • My mouth is watering. Sans the meat I think I’d love this. I had a fibroid removed and I’m really interested in the blood tests you got so I can request them from my doctor. Can you list what they were? Or do you have to order them individually?

  • This is not a healthy keto diet. Many essential vitamins and minerals are missing which will cause health issues in the long run. Many veggies are nutrient-dense and keto-friendly. If you can’t find the right veggies you like, at the very least take a quality daily multivitamin and a fish oil supplement.

  • These fad diets are horrible. Just eat mostly healthy carbs from rice and potatoes, eat nuts, fruits, vegetables, low amounts of meat etc and if you stay under your caloric goal every day you will lose weight and not feel like shit!

  • im so confused after watching all kinds of videos saying to lose weight but all of them say different like someone says eat low carbs diet, someone says eat high fat high protein diet, some videos says that i should starve. im endomorphic with a height of 170 cm and weight 230 lbs. i need to lose at least 8 stones of weight plz help me.

  • ugh im soo confused! now i dont know if u should be a vegetarian or do the keto. i thought eating meat was bad overall for digestive tract ughh im soo confused now

  • She sounds like she’s more on a low carb diet. Which is alright since the keto diet is mainly for very over weight people that need to go on a diet and shed weight to improve health. Once you are slimmed down, I would recommend to get off keto and just do a low carb diet.

  • Thomas I love your channel and have seen most of your videos, If fat doesn’t necessarily mean more energy. If I’m training muay Thai 2x a day 5x a week and weight lifting and I notice brain fog and not peak performance… Wouldn’t carbs be a better option?

  • I’ve been doing keto for 2 weeks now and I miss carbs and sugar a lot. It feels like a punishment. It’s also very time consuming since you have to make a lot of things from scratch. What bugs me the most is the fact that you can’t have cheat meals or cheat days.

  • Hi I’m on ketosis and love it however have been doing it for 3 months and exercise 5 days. But lately have been so tired. Struggling to exercise. My electrolytes are on point. Why am I feeling this way?

  • Just depends on your goals. If you’re already fat (like me), you don’t really need to introduce a bunch of fat in your meals to reach Ketosis or lipolisis. Our body when starved of carbs will pull from our generous fat stores for energy. But if you’re relatively healthy, it’ll need extra fat intake to create ketones.

  • Sorry but most of the meals you mentioned contain hardly any fat. Most contained a lot of vegetables along side some meat. You have hardly mentioned any fat sources so what you are eating doesn’t sound like a keto diet, it sounds more like a low carb diet. From the meals you describe you are not getting anywhere near 70% of your calories from fat. How is this a Keto diet?

  • Respectable keto diet plan source listed here!

It works just like a charm

  • Can you do a video on quarantine low carb? Or something like that.

With the gym is closed, nobody is really weight training or being active unless maybe it’s hiking or running. Video on how to lose weight without exercising would be great

  • I feel like this diet should be a lifestyle change more than a short term diet.

The hardest part in the diet is keeping proteins under check. We’ve always been told that fat is bad for your body but on keto it really isn’t.. so when you’re out shopping for groceries go for the full fat meat and not the high protein lean meats like turkey. Your body can go through gluconeogenesis and convert the excess proteins to glucose.
Although light exercise does help it isnt necessary…. Heavy exercise can leave you naturally craving for carbs and you should be because carbs are important if you have a on a heavy work out routine.. but I wouldn’t recommend heavy exercise during the diet…. you will be constantly low on energy and will want to quit the diet.

I’ve been on keto about 5-6 months and I’ve lost 12kgs so far. If done right it can be amazing. You feel alert and full of energy.

  • No matter I do I can’t lose weight. What is that I am doing wrong? 185lb and still standing. My goal is to lose 15 lb. I started intermittent fasting last month nothing has changed.

  • re the salt/potassium excretion studies….i understand that increased excretion is correlated with reduced mortality. Can’t this also be interpreted as reducing levels of both in the body (by excretion) is correlated with reduced mortality?
    Just wondering…i’m not a scientist.

  • Can’t belive he only 16 with an ripped physique like 30 year. Im 34 and still havn’t got ripped physique… Hardwork pays off if you train at young age….

  • Intuitively, it only makes sense to lower fat intake on keto. To burn our own body fat, it doesn’t make sense to add so much to our diets. On maintenance levels, it would make more sense.

  • keto diet is highly recommended for diabetics. you can get your a1c below 6 just following keto diet..this nutritutionist is useless

  • Ugh! Had my gallbladder out 29 yrs ago at the ripe age of 20 due to multiple gallstones. Doc.. said I was packed with them and could possibly die. Wish I knew how to better myself…. or know really what to do. Ouch…

  • This is what I needed. I stopped following another very popular keto channel because they were getting out of hand. It seemed like they just continued to restrict everything that they once said was ok. It became more of a carnivore diet than a diet you could make as a lifestyle change. Sure they’re putting out recipes that seem like oh yeah I could eat that and then in videos saying “I only eat this once every few months.”

I’m a vegetarian and I feel like you can do a keto diet in a healthy balanced way and they just obviously didn’t believe that even though they were previously vegetarians. It’s just frustrating and feels so defeating! Thank you for the inspiration to get back to keto!

  • Since we come from a carnivore lineage then wwhy is diet research pertaining to humans done on animals that are vegan and or vegetarian?
Their gut system is different to human. So the research must be useless?

  • I can’t stand that silly over acting. You are an adult, but talk like 5 years old. Don’t sell yourself this way…go do something else.

  • I wish I knew u in real life your the friend who’d keep me in check I’d go over n this meal would be prepared I enjoy every single video u make to my core “literally” I’ve never liked every single video of a YouTuber usually u like 1 2 or 5 videos I love ALL OF THEM!!

  • Thank you for all the encouragement and fact finding Sir Thomas! Here’s a video for called, In To Win https://youtu.be/KrpTGchsNBI

  • I’m glad that the Keto Diet is constantly getting tweaked to better understand it. I don’t call it a diet. It’s a life style to health for me.

  • Alcohol is very addictive for a lot of people, moderation is not the key but mere abstinence is. Therefore, it is very dangerous to recommend having alcohol.. bottom line there’s no good in drinking alcohol whatsoever and it should be avoided by most people. So there’s no point talking about alcohol here…

  • Thanks for superp lecture. It is a very good practice for the speaker to repeat and to explain the question before attempting to provide an answer..

  • Just 2 years ago most of keto guys were advising NOT to eat extra protein because of neoglucogenesis. It is literally the opposite talk now. I wonder what they gonna say in 2 years?

  • Just 2 years ago most of keto guys were advising NOT to eat extra protein because of neoglucogenesis. It is literally the opposite talk now. I wonder what they gonna say in 2 years?

  • Today was the first day since starting keto almost a month ago that I felt like cracking and indulging on carbs. Thankfully I didn’t, but I was surprised by the weakness. This video comes at a great time.

  • Thanks to you and Dr berg. After 10 years of lifting I’ve tried many diets prior to fasting and none of them work.. since I’ve been fasting 30 hour plus and been working out everyday day… I have never seen my physique change!! Thanks a million!!!

  • Salmon has lots of fat so does raw nuts, cheese, eggs, ghee, etc. If you’re getting discomfort in the lower right rib area, that could be your gal bladder being overworked. Go easy on the dietary fat so your body will use body fat. Your body wont eat muscle unless you haven’t eaten in 3+ days and you’re below 4% body fat. Then maybe you’ll start to lose muscle mass.

  • You say eat all the protein we want but you said in other videos that we should limit our intake of protein as long as we are eating high quality meats and fish. Isn’t.6 to.8 your recommended daily intake for protein per pound of body weight? You said you only eat around 100 grams of protein a day on keto, maybe im still confused because I’m new to all this keto stuff but its seems different from things you said in the past regarding protein intake.

  • Hi there just starting (day 5) and glad I found you. I can’t tolerate grass fed butter (but can do other butters) and the rest of my diet is dairy free and coconut free. Can I equally sub in avocado oil for a blended coffee or the other places you would put in coconut oil?

    Thanks so much!

  • I’m a guy in my 40’s and am considering changing up my breakfast from whey and milk concentrate shake to contain only hemp seed oil, coconut oil and avocado oil.  Doing this to balance my hormone levels which I think are totally out of whack, as I’m very fat.  Thoughts?

  • So I’m six foot even, 220 pounds, I like to lift weights six days a week, run a mile a day and have a sweat demanding labor job….
Also doing the keto diet for five months

Ok now set me up with advise!!!

  • Great tips..will try these! BTW, where did you get your hanging garden glass pots and holder for the wall? Would love ones just like those…thanks for sharing

  • DO I HAVE THIS RIGHT?

Lots of fat makes the body burn fat for energy, when it was not used to reaching for fat for energy. When you have adapted, you need to “eat” less fat so you can “eat” more of your “stored fat.”

  • So this means i need less fat as long as i can make it to the next meal?! And I dont have to eat 70% of fat unless I feel hungry between the meals!

  • Just wanted to say that there is no such thing as wild caught salmon in the USA unless you caught it yourself. If it is labeled that way then it is most likely not true. Basically all salmon is farmed and full of toxins. Natural salmon is very lean and quite firm and almost dryish when it is cooked. Farmed salmon is high in fat and will almost disintegrate when you handle it raw. It has thick white stripes of fat in the meat which natural salmon does not. Just beware if this, there is a lot of fake food out there and farmed salmon is not good for you.

  • Doc! Can you kindly do a video on how much fat is advisable if you’re fat adapted and not losing weight? I think I’ve been making the mistake of thinking i ‘must’ add fat to my food (I’ve been OMAD for approx a year), but my body has fat to use, so should I reduce it to nearly none? Thank you for your amazing advice:D

  • thanks for the info, you and flavcity help me extensively on how to shop for my groceries, organic diet and gluten free, I’m skinny dude athletic like lift weights at the gym weekly!

  • Thanks Thomas! What about a strength training workout based on barre, Pilates, and yoga? Would that demand more petite in like weight training since you are using your body as resistance and lighter weights?

  • What about if i don’t want to lose weight because i’m skinny. But i do want to live a healthy energetic life. Is the IF still neccesary?

  • Self control is not the issue for me. It’s no weight loss that’s getting me. I lost a whopping 5 lbs In Two months. I have A lot to loose. It’s not budging. I eat to the macros. Track every calorie. Might give up on this Diet trend as I need to loose 30 more pounds.

  • Hello Dr, if dietary fat is burnt when consumed excessive, so we dont deposit dietary fat at all?
    I m most of the time keto positive when i check.But i feel i m getting fat

  • How can one maintain his weight while doing ketogenic diet?? I’m very thin and keep losing weight, but i still have to stick to Keto because of insulin resistance, it’s frustrating. I hope you can do a video about this.

  • Hi there I am all the way from South Africa.and today is my first day.thanx so much for uploading this.I was feeling very overwhelmed.I just have one question I am breastfeeding can I still use the same recipes just use more fat

  • Thanks for solving the mystery of my SLOWWW weight loss on keto. I’m a 200-lb, post-menopausal woman with 50 pounds to lose. Like so many others, I fell for the too-good-to-be-true “gorge on fat and drop weight effortlessly” hype. In the first 30 days, I lost 6 pounds (1.5 lbs/wk) and one pants size while maintaining a light nutritional blood ketone level of 0.6 1.5. Not bad, but nothing like the results I got on HCG VLCD (very low calorie diet), which is not a sustainable lifestyle. This month, am going to apply your advice and cut diet sodas and artificial sweeteners, add more healthy protein and veggies, rather than pigging out on macadamia nuts, whipped cream, cheese and nut butters. I’m also going to be more mindful of calories. In my first month, my daily intake was 1500-1800 cal/day, which is still too high. I suspect that 6-lb loss was probably water. Live and learn! Will keep you posted.:)

  • Good info but why or why is the stupid music necessary in the background. It’s not a children video!! Anyway thanks for the uploading.

  • Hii, I have a q, I’ve been doing keto during this week and I’ve mantained my carbs, fats and proteins really well, too much salad and moderate protein, can I have like once in the week a keto cheat meal? Like eating more fats than I should? Actually I’ve already done it but I don’t feel sooo bloated I just feel more full than normally, what do you think about it? Is it okay once a week? Oh and another info I’m not overweight, just want to reach ketosis and become fat adapted! Thanks for your videos thought!! They shouldn’t be free haha just kidding but they really worth it!:D

  • Ok so u said Judy eat enough fat to get u from one meal to the next…so that ur not eating too much fat BUT on keto diet…I’m never really hungry…and I wouldn’t meet my fat requirements for the macros for my body…thanks fir the advice!

  • It’s so hard to find that sweet spot when the food is so good. Lol thank you for making this video. Gave me a deeper awareness with my portions.

  • Hi,
What would you say the ratios would be for someone who does the 2 meals or day like you describe in one of your videos? Break the fast with chicken breast and bone broth then wait 2hrs and do your meal. Do the same protein to fat ratios apply? What about one meal pet day? I want to lose 120 lbs so trying to get the best path. Thanks

  • I’ve been living the ketogenic life style for 3.5 months and loving how I feel and the 19lb weight loss. No craving… no cheats (yet). I eat a lot of spinach, eggs and fish and 3 bullet proof coffees but ONLY 1tsp. butter each and 1tsp. MCT oil each for a total of 3tsp. each per day and I add beneficial spices to it as well. With that said, I have NOT gone down one single notch in clothes size… coats/jeans still hard to button/zip up etc. I see a tiny bit of reduction in butt & thighs but NONE in the belly/love handles. I had my gall bladder removed years ago and maybe this is the problem? I’m just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same. It’s like I’m not seeing this weight loss at all. I do follow the strict keto and I do intermittent fasting and light exercise at least 5 days a week plus always dancing/walking etc. I’m 57yo, 5ft 5in and started at 162lbs. Anyone?? PS. I don’t get discouraged because I’m feeling just great with lots of energy and sleeping fairly well. Thanks!!

  • Interesting why are your Indian ‘eating’ culture so much alike with Chinese? In Chinese traditional medicine we also have this Cold and Hot nature of foods. Are we more alike or did one of us adopt this Ayurveda way of life/eating?

  • Thanks for showing this. I’m hoping to move closer to intermittent fasting down the road. I’m on month 5 and I am eating every five hours (just 3x a day). On weekends I eat less but try to have one big meal a day. I did try fat bombs a few times but I’m not really into them. It’s also a challenge since I work and I’m involved in lots of extra activities after work. But so far I have lost 10 pounds and I’m just over the halfway mark to my goal.

  • Dear Dr. Berg,
What’s with this Alkaline Water? And isn’t it diametrically opposite to ACV? Which of the 2 should we opt for for optimum health benefits including weight loss?
    Thanks
    Rohit

  • Not macro related.. but what’s with this coffee on empty stomach being bad study?

    https://www-purewow-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.purewow.com/wellness/coffee-on-an-empty-stomach?amp_js_v=a3&amp_gsa=1&amphtml=true#ampshare=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.purewow.com%2Fwellness%2Fquarantine-splurge-by-zodiac-sign

  • Oh dear I have been eating too much FAT.
New to Keto 28 days in. At first I lost 6 lbs, now Im putting back 4 lbs…because I eat too much pecan and walnuts..180g+ of fat and Im 124 lbs in weight!!!

No more nuts for a while girl!

  • I’m into my second year on keto with over 4 stone 6 pounds lost so far.
I do 20 hours fasting per day and one meal per day.
My weight loss has been on a stall for some time now so I’m setting my macros on an app.
Can someone tell me how much protein and fat I should be having as it’s a minefield of info out there lol
    I’m 17 stone 11 at the mo.
Looking to lose 3 stone this year.

  • That’s a fantastic idea! I don’t like saying I’m on a diet because it’s simply a new way of living. When someone tries to tempt me, I say ewwww, I don’t feel good when I eat that!! Lol

  • Sometimes No advise is better than wrong advise… most of the information shared in this chat is misguided & goes against the very principles of Keto diet..keto is recomended for type2 diabetes patients as it allows the body to maintain glucose levels at a low but healthy level..

  • Thank you very much for uploading this talk. I got more valuable information in one hour here than I got in 6 months of watching the ketosis hacks on other YouTube videos.

  • Dr Berg.
You have changed my life. I am almost eighty years old.
I have been on Keto diet, followed your videos religiously and in three months have transformed my body. My energy levels have increased enormously and I feel wonderful.
It is a joy to listen to you. God bless! you Dr Berg.
I assume you live in the States, a little too far away to give you a big hug
    Veronica

  • those amounts of protein seem huge.
Even with the “1g per pound per day” thing for people who do weight training that is considered too much by most. A lot advise 0.7 to 0.8g/lbs/day
I way exactly 200lbs, so 160g is already on the higher end.

  • Hey Dr Berg thanks for the literally thousands of FREE peices of information and hundreds of videos. Anyone else would try to capitalize on even the slightest bit of helpful information.

  • Do you mean 250 grams of proteins as 250gr of food which is a protein source? Like 250 grams of chicken?

Because anyway for reaching 250g of protein you need to eat 800 grams of chicken in a day!

  • Thank you for all the encouragement and fact finding Sir Thomas! Here’s a video for called, In To Win https://youtu.be/KrpTGchsNBI

  • Thank you, Tom! I think you need to do a video to define what is “sedentary life”. Most of us work in front of a computer for 10 hours/day, and do 1 or 2 hours of walking or other type of exercise 3-5 times a week. Is this considered sedentary? Most dieticians/nutritionists tell you to always choose “sedentary life-no exercise” in a macro/calories calculator even if you jog on a daily basis. Shouldn’t this be considered “light exercise”?

  • Beef liver is a fantastic supplement accompanied with good nutrition for bodybuilding or anyone trying to improve their aesthetic.

  • So how long could I stretch the fast be for risking anorexia because I started keto after the first week I was able to fast 3days and only ate again out of fear and now stick to (o m a d)
& I need less to be satisfied 5 weeks in only lost 11kg but I have lost size slightly.

  • I have Dystonia in all of my back muscles that I have Botox injections for every 90 days, Graves’ disease, Hashimotos, Thyroid Eye Disease, pain in the Iliac Crest on both hips. Should the Keto diet be able to help lessen my inflammation?

  • How much is that can you process in a single meal my keto coffee is between 600 and 700 calories of just fat. I feel perfectly fine but I wonder if I’m absorbing it all.

  • Other said he dont take supplements and i just cat believe he dosent, now that i heard it from you i dont care i still admire your physique

  • No, no, no He said so many times that too much protein will kick out of ketosis and NOW having a lot of protein is OK, SO CONFUSING

  • Back when I was 19, (18 years ago) I started the Atkins diet. I pretty much ate turkey lunch meat with mustard, frozen fish fillets and the occasional eggs and bacon. Lost 35 pounds in a month. And other than bacon here and there, it was very low fat. And very low nutrition lol.

  • This is my very first comment on ANY of your many Videos. The reason is this has been the Most Clear and Useful ever! Please use this Short
format in the Future. Keep up the Good Work Sir!

  • How do you find your protein number and at what point during this journey do you count calories? I’ve stalled for nearly a year after doing lazy keto

  • 600 cal of protein of 2000 is 30%. Keto diet limit is 20%. So if you use 30%, then the diet is now called Atkins. Tom has switched to Atkins silently.

  • those amounts of protein seem huge.

  • Is daily consumptn of banan makes us fat? I used eat brkfast oats vt banana.. no milk n no sugar.. only watr, oats n 1 or 2 small banan

  • 1.Ghee is not a bad fat.
    2. According to famous Dr. Eric Berg keto diet is a lifestyle NOT a DIET.
If anything is for short period how could u benefit from it for ur whole life.
    So…
Plz stop making such stupid remarks.
Keto is good for westerns because of their food availability. For us Indians it impossible to practice it. So tell the truth instead of saying its for a short period of time. The logical diet is Intermittent Fasting. Its more practical more sustainable nd results are gauranteed.

  • Last week i was on vacation and i decided to cheat once in awhile well, that did not turn out very well. I ate a piece of quiche lorraine with salad for lunch and had soon after lunch stomach cramps the rest of the day and evening. Could not sleep because of the pain it’s just not worth it!

  • That’s a fantastic idea! I don’t like saying I’m on a diet because it’s simply a new way of living. When someone tries to tempt me, I say ewwww, I don’t feel good when I eat that!! Lol

  • Vegetarian food hardens the heart. We should eat non veg atleast once in 40 days. Though eating non veg food excessively is not encouraged.
Even the ancient Hindu scriptures advocate eating non veg food.

  • I NEED HELP! I’ve been keto for 3 weeks. About 2 weeks ago, I started smelling a beefy/meat odor-it’s very unpleasant and I don’t know how to stop this odor. It’s coming out of my pores and even when I urinate-I smell the odor. It’s as horrible as it sounds. I am over 60, so I don’t know if my age has anything to with my body “clearing” this odor. I’m looking for suggestions.

  • Dr Berg.
I’m doing usually one meal and some times two meals within 2 or 4 hours. What happens if I eat an excess amount of fat on one sitting? Is it stored?
Kind regards and thank you for great content!

  • Hi Leane thank you for another awesome post. With Keto begining and reiterated in this video, I feel you have provided me with an awesome formula of meats veggies and fats that I can utilize and last week, my first 7 days on your meal plan, I feel that I have hit bulls eye. Macros were bang on with ease and mentally and with regards to energy levels I felt AMAZING. Still going too. I am now wondering how I might tackle carb ups though. Feeling this good now makes me cautious about increasing my carbs incase I get triggered into a binge

  • There is an awesome pre-workout supplement called “Breed” it has a nice lemon flavor to the two supplements Focus and Power. In the morning I take focus and sometimes Power, but definitely something to check out.

  • I dont know about this Thomas. You have to be talking about proteins and fat for men because I would be big as a house eating that much food period. Proteins is not my best friend as a 55 yr old diabetic

  • Hello! I just f ound your channel! I have a question you’ve probably answered this before but I do not eat meat, I just don’t do well digesting it nor do I like it, is there a way to do this without meat? I can do eggs but if there is a way without meat would you please share, thanks!

  • This is my very first comment on ANY of your many Videos. The reason is this has been the Most Clear and Useful ever! Please use this Short
format in the Future. Keep up the Good Work Sir!

  • Or no salt which is all sodium chloride. 530mg potassium chloride per gram or 1/4 teaspoon. I dose 5 grams a day in water on a carnivore eating protocol

  • Hello (: You make awesome videos. I have on question: are you able to do like a shop with me video for the whole week? I want to start keto but my issue is I’m on a budget and I don’t know what to buy for one week of food.

  • You are so right. I’m 8 weeks in. Very hard. I miss what I used to eat..but realize it’s poison for me. Still trying to find a happy balance. In so tired..haven’t felt the energy burst or clear head.

  • This was a great starter! As I have done body composition analysis for years I find it better to put things in terms of the number of grams of protein per lb or kg of lean body mass adjusted to the individual’s activities of daily living. There are many different models of bathroom scales that estimate body composition. I always encourage patients to purchase one so when pursuing a weight loss program so as to make sure the are losing fat and not lean mass.

  • I Eat Very Little Fat with my Keto Diet and 1 Small Meal a Day is Easy to Manage 24 Hours. Weekends 72 Hours.
Weight is Falling Away Every Day!

  • Yes, yes, yes! Finally people are getting on board with higher protein keto! Isn’t science wonderful?! I’d rather burn body fat than plate fat. Staying in ketosis only requires extremely low carb intake, not high fat intake.

  • Organ meats are fine in every meal,, and one more thing Ketogenic diet is a Lifestyle,, when you adapted to it. Then you never wanted to eat carbs…she is good but not in a every aspect.

  • Much love for all you Keto people I’m Keto too I’m a 26 guy and an athlete and I’ve got so much more endurance since starting it’s brilliant:)!!

  • i want to do keto so badly but cannot do bulletproof coffee:( is there any options i can get in Canada that are sweet and keto friendly but not gross aftertaste like stevia drops?

  • Very FEW people know how much protein they actually need. But if they even use a go-by like MFP it gets them started in the right direction with this information.

  • So actually, you don’t loose weight on keto unless your fasting? Is it that you’re saying? So in reality you only loose weight because you eat less calories? The same as any other weight loss diet?

  • I used your link for Butcher box, but the price isn’t any cheaper than when I went there on my own. Is there a code? Or is there no real discount.

  • Can you please make a video for people who are abroad as in What to eat and what not. Also I am doing Intermitent diet from almost 2 weeks I do notice changes in a good way, I breakfast at 12 or 11:45 and then eat again at 7:30pm. However I am getting cramps in my legs very frequently, like every few seconds when I am walking not that bad but I feel weird can you suggest something or do u know where I am going wrong…

  • Dude where the hell do you get all your fat from. You say high protein high fat, well if I eat 150g of protein for my body weight a day (which is almost nothing) and then I’m left with eating fats??? What do I eat??

  • Great job Leanne! I have your “The Complete Keto Diet” book and it has been super helpful. I have lost 27 lbs. in three months and feel great. Thanks for your help. Nice to see a women from Calgary (my hometown) doing so well. You go girl!

  • Hi Mikayla, I’m sure you’re a great person. You talk way too fast and this makes it seem as though what you say has no value to you. And I can’t understand what you’re saying. I’m English, maybe that’s it.

  • I myself have tried a million ways to loose weight. Whether it is cardio, hitting the gym, cycling or even swimming, nothing really helped me till my friend told me to try going on a diet. I researched quite a lot about it and found that a diet is the main thing that helps. I noticed that nothing works unless you have a proper diet with your workouts. So I made up my mind and started on a diet. After a few days with daily workouts, I could see and feel the change. It did wonders for me.

  • What he is basically saying, without directly saying it. Is that if you overconsume calories from fat, you will be burning dietary fat instead of body fat. Burn fat from your body, not your plate/cup. With that being said, it’s still primarily about Calories in/Calories out, not hormones or insulin.

  • Appreciate the great information. When I started looking for a simple keto meal plan I found that this also really helped me: http://zawh.com/keto

  • hi jo, I know that you are busy to reply my comment that’s why I always have to delete my comment I wait for 2 months but I feel bad and I delete I feel more bad because I am a girl and this is my father’s mobile phone and if you have some time than please give me a love and accept my request can you please do how to lose lower belly fat in 30 days and I am your biggest fan

  • Yesterday I ate too much fat and I got a problem with my blood presure. I forced my self to finish my meal and then I had to go to lay in bed. I measure my pulse and I had 72 per minute. I had to stay 20 minutes and then I could got up.
Was my first meal and was 12 PM.
My problem with fasting and keto is to take a meal a day with at least 2500 calories (because of training) from fat, make it so difficult to digest.

  • I’m a guy in my 40’s and am considering changing up my breakfast from whey and milk concentrate shake to contain only hemp seed oil, coconut oil and avocado oil.  Doing this to balance my hormone levels which I think are totally out of whack, as I’m very fat.  Thoughts?

  • Hi there!
I had no problem following the keto diet. For was easy not to eat carbs. I don’t worry if I’m in ketosis or not. But I do struggle with the fact that I’m not losing weight. I’ve started in march, lost about 4.5/5 kg. Then I stopped losing.
It doesn’t matter what I do. I even started fasting for 24 hours once a week. I also exercise.
My job is standing/walking all day.
When I hear a lot of people saying how much weight they’ve lost in weeks and I only lost 5kg in 5 months, it gets very demotivating. Which is making me thinking on giving up.
I don’t want to give up as not eating carbs makes me feel better but I would like to see some results.
    Any advice please?

    PS: Thanks for the videos.

  • My girlfriend was on this diet for a year, it gave her huge gall stones, and now she is scheduled to have a gallbladder removal operation! You’ll pay the price!

  • the diet in general has been such an good impact in my life and is all thanks to the keto diet, but in a special way nobody else knows

  • Thank you for making this video, those were some great choices for meals. The only thing that would have made this video better was to either see pictures of the meals, or to actually see you make some of them, but I just found your channel today, so maybe you have made some of them. I will be watching all of them to see.:)

  • Why pander to vegans when you are not vegan? Veganism is unhealthy and fattening and
I have the 40 extra lbs to prove it. I came here hoping to get some real keto tips.

  • Joanna you come backk I’ve been waiting for long time for your keto video, I want to practice Keto diet but still need your approvement about it, now I have

  • High fat to begin with to make the switch from using glucose for energy to using fat, then when in ketosis and fully fat adapted the amount consumed on a daily basis can be reduced so the body burns body fat just like he said but it’s a bit trial and error to begin with and the person needs to bear in mind that excess body fat doesn’t just disappear overnight.

  • mmmm this is soooo yummy and thank you for promoting a balanced diet rather than only plants and lentils like a lot of other fitness people do to promote a vegan diet as the correct way to eat for everyone. Each to their own, but these recipes right here are truly for me!

  • The saturated fats do not affect glucose/insulin/cortisol. She seems to have the same comments that I have experienced. Health is most important and your gut/brain working. Intermittant fasting very good.

  • Improved keto diet books that assist people..
That keto diet source support me a lot.

  • the title is a bit misleading, i didn’t get to see what a day of eating high fat looks like at all, u just gave some shitty boring descriptions, I’m unsubscribing

  • Good info. Don’t listen to the haters.  I’ve been kind of following your eating style, but not on purpose!  I just decided to cut out gluten, which naturally made me cut out a lot of sugar (mainly ‘cuz I craved it less).  Then I started increasing protein/fat in place of bad carbs.  Every time I got on the scale, I weighed less.  I didn’t even feel like I was on a “diet”.  I was never hungry or felt deprived.  Just this week, my Dr. took me off my blood pressure pill (so much for this diet being bad for cardiovascular health.  I have more energy than ever, I sleep better, my joints don’t hurt anymore.  The other changes I’ve made: I try to make sure anything I consume is organic & non-GMO and any proteins are grass fed and humanely raised.  I used to think vegan was the way to go, but I think that the human body was designed to run on the nutrients from animals.  Goes back to hunter/gatherer diets.  Our dog agrees.  We took her off all dog food that had wheat or corn in it, and her skin rashes disappeared.  Now her food is beef, chicken or salmon based and she is healthy, energetic and her coat shines. It makes sense.  If she lived in the wild, she would catch squirrels, birds and fish to eat.

  • just had avacado, bacon, egg, spinach, onion sandwitch….. o so good.. and healthy too.. who says bacon isnt good for u.. its got fats and protein.. no carbs.. no nitrites or nitrate bacon ofc

  • That’s high fat if you’re a vegan I guess. So… not high fat. If an obese person ate this diet they’d be wondering where all the fat is. They’d be hungry. This diet is about eating the right kind of cholesterol.

  • I love you Thomas but 3 ads in on 10 minute video? Please Don’t do that, we’re counting on you to be you, I buy from butcher box etc. I support the channel please respect my time. Max 2 ads

  • When I started a year ago, I jumped right in. I did great. Lost a LOT of weight. Then..the VIRUS! I have fallen away and can’t get it together. I still have not relapsed on soda, but all the sugar and carbs. I feel so guilty. I appreciate your help. Thank you.

  • Haha keeps throwing cat off the counter (dying). You should try training your cat to get off the counter by saying “no, off” in a firm voice and directing his way off the counter. My cats (5 & 1yrs old) are both trained to the point if I see them looking at the counter while I’m cooking I say no and they normally don’t get up there BUT when they do I say, “no, off” and they get off on their own! I don’t mind if they get up there when I’m not cooking so I think cats get confused lol

  • I LOST 40lbs!!! You ask how? I visited website called NextLevelDiet. I selected only food I like and they provided me with DIET MEAL PLAN, TRAINING PLAN, FITNESS TIPS and HEALTHY RECIPES.

  • I have lost 238 pounds on Keto and I have kept it off. I have wanted to make sure that I keep all my minerals and vitamins in check when I was having some odd symptoms. I felt like I may be low in magnesium so I started eating a lot of spinach. I ate 85-170 grams of it a day. After about a year of that, I got terrible kidney stones and the dr said I need a low oxalate diet for the rest of my life after the surgery. My muscles symptoms never cleared up when eating all the spinach anyway but how can you get magnesium when you can not eat the green leafy veggies as they recommend?

  • Damn doc, just tell us how much should we eat fat. Give us numbers, portion, pounds whatever. I’m confused and don’t lose wait, like wtf

  • How do you know that you have been on Ketosis for to long? Is there a sign of some kind? Then do you just go back to a higher level of good Carbs?

  • What exactly is Custokebon Secrets? How does this thing really work? I notice many people keep on speaking about this popular lose weight methods.

  • I recently start cycling high fat w low protein day and high protein and low fat days….will be interesting to see the results in a week or two. Been Keto for 10 months now.

  • But i dont want to lose weight,:( I’m about 115 lbs and starting a keto diet. I’m wanting to enjoy the benefits of ketosis without losing too much weight. I’m doing this mainly to get rid of heart palpitations

  • Grass fed cows and pasteurized chickens are happy to give us their lives so we can feel a little better….
If you can handle being there a the time of their slaughtering, I guess it is ok.

  • I love you Thomas but 3 ads in on 10 minute video? Please Don’t do that, we’re counting on you to be you, I buy from butcher box etc. I support the channel please respect my time. Max 2 ads

  • keto diet is highly recommended for diabetics. you can get your a1c below 6 just following keto diet..this nutritutionist is useless

  • Just bought the Vega sports electrolytes powder!!! I need it!!! I always had trouble with electrolytes even when I did keto back 8 months ago. I can’t wait to see results again!!!

  • Thanks to you and Dr berg. After 10 years of lifting I’ve tried many diets prior to fasting and none of them work.. since I’ve been fasting 30 hour plus and been working out everyday day… I have never seen my physique change!! Thanks a million!!!

  • Hello, dr. Berg
I’m from India I tried all the things but instead loosing I have gained weight. I’m 120 pounds and My protein consuming is 66g fat also less than 79 gram and crab is between 15 to 20g. Also I eat vegetables and didn’t use any dairy products. What should I do?

  • Use the coconut oil instead of the avocado. Avocado oil breaks down easily when using heat, you destroy its nutrients by high heat. Coconut oil is saturated fat it can stand very high temperature for s long time. The coconut oil in your coffee isn’t necessary. You should eat a salat or something non heated with algae oil it contains huge amounts of important omega 3 oil!

  • For the brits…. we can do babybel instead of cheesestrings. Your Brussels are huge! Add cream cheese melted as any sauce….. your meal looked dry

  • HI, CAN U PLZ TALK ABOUT BACON. AND CHEESE… ITS BIG ON THE KETO. HOW MUCH IS TOOO MUCH, HOW MANY TIMES A DAY A AND HOW MUCH A WEEK SHOULD WE HV?? I CANT BELIEVE THIS IS CONSIDERED A HEALTHY FAT….PLZ HEEELP. THANKS

  • So I’m six foot even, 220 pounds, I like to lift weights six days a week, run a mile a day and have a sweat demanding labor job….
Also doing the keto diet for five months

Ok now set me up with advise!!!

  • ahhh miisu kitticat:))), let him be there, he is a beautyful bonus:))), and he needs to get the taste of meat products also, cuteness!

  • How do you find your protein number and at what point during this journey do you count calories? I’ve stalled for nearly a year after doing lazy keto

  • Don’t do it guys… it might help you lose weight in short term but it brings complications later. http://www.womenshealthmag.com/weight-loss/ketogenic-diet?amp

  • Omg!!! Your respect each other intro was the funniest… it’s sad we have to be reminded of this kindergarten lesion as grown ass adults… but I needed that today… lol I’m sitting up straight now and hands to myself… love this video

  • You are so right. I’m 8 weeks in. Very hard. I miss what I used to eat..but realize it’s poison for me. Still trying to find a happy balance. In so tired..haven’t felt the energy burst or clear head.

  • I LOST 40lbs!!! You ask how? I visited website called *Next Level Diet*. I selected only food I like and they provided me with DIET MEAL PLAN, TRAINING PLAN, FITNESS TIPS and HEALTHY RECIPES.

  • What are those sweeteners, because if they some kind of sugar, I have to say that you can’t consume any kind of sugar, even those sweeteners.

  • Thank you for making this video, those were some great choices for meals. The only thing that would have made this video better was to either see pictures of the meals, or to actually see you make some of them, but I just found your channel today, so maybe you have made some of them. I will be watching all of them to see.:)

  • Now this is absolutely disgusting she didn’t wash that meat you posed to wash your chicken off and clean it that is sickening this is why I do not eat everybody’s cooking

  • There is no system breakfast in ayurveda…

  • I am diabetic type 2, I am trying this type of diet and I will tell you it is not easy to do. I can not give up bread completely I use sprouted grain or thin Dark German rye which is hard to find. I will try to eliminate bread completely but this type of diet needs to be done slowly like detoxing from a drug. Otherwise you will feel tired and weak because a rapid change is not normal for the body and can cause problems. And everyone is different, It is not just about losing weight your body needs to adjust to this diet and it should be done slowly if you have diabetes.

  • First video watched after two years of not being on Keto. I was on Keto close to almost a year and lost a total of 41 lbs. Today going back one it, especially because of this quarantine.

  • Hi I’m on ketosis and love it however have been doing it for 3 months and exercise 5 days. But lately have been so tired. Struggling to exercise. My electrolytes are on point. Why am I feeling this way?

  • Very poorly informed. Ketogenic dieting is highly effective in treating non alcoholic fatty liver disease as well as metabolic disorders like Type 2 diabetes.

  • Dr.Eric Berg has told a lot of extreme and unbacked facts…i used to trust him too! Keto should be done for a minimum of 1 month and for weightloss goals upto 3 months….else lifestyle if you find convenience!!
I am no doctor but see other scientific stories and stories of real life people for best result

  • What about that protein processing in the body for energy actually demands energy? Breaking down protein is not energy positive Thomas said himself once. And, what about that protein used in building muscle? Not burned, so you can’t take it into energy balance sheet…

  • When said diabetes, liver problems, high cholesterol cannot be on keto I stopped video….she doesn’t know what is she talking about….she has absolutely no clue….

  • If fat goes down, dont overall calories go down? What if metabolism gets used to lower calories resulting is us being able to eat less each day

  • Hi Joanna,

Please discuss whether one can have oats banana smothie in lunch while weight loss.?
Does banana oats smothie contribue to weight loss? I love to have it as it makes me feel full for a long time.

  • Hello! I just f ound your channel! I have a question you’ve probably answered this before but I do not eat meat, I just don’t do well digesting it nor do I like it, is there a way to do this without meat? I can do eggs but if there is a way without meat would you please share, thanks!

  • I’m almost 73 female. I’m about 10# overweight. Could someone help me on what my calories and macro’s should be? There are so many differing opinions.

  • so you had eggs for all 3 of your meals including yoke, is it true or a myth that your not suppose to exceed 4 eggs a day? because their high in cholesterol and just doesnt seem to be right eating eggs per day

  • 2 months ago, I was fat and had single. Now I have great body and a girlfriend. Coincidence? I wouldn’t say. Trust me guys, all you need is training and diet plan. You can get both from NextLevelDiet.

  • Seriously you guys had to waste so much time on dumb alcohol questions?:/ If you are so concerned whether you can drink wine, you should go to rehab before the keto diet.

  • Today was the first day since starting keto almost a month ago that I felt like cracking and indulging on carbs. Thankfully I didn’t, but I was surprised by the weakness. This video comes at a great time.

  • Hi,
What would you say the ratios would be for someone who does the 2 meals or day like you describe in one of your videos? Break the fast with chicken breast and bone broth then wait 2hrs and do your meal. Do the same protein to fat ratios apply? What about one meal pet day? I want to lose 120 lbs so trying to get the best path. Thanks

  • Dr. Phinney (and Volek too!) is the best! His explanation on tachycardia was very interesting and I’ve never heard it explained this way before (and I’ve listened to hundreds of hours of lectures on keto). Thanks LCDU for consistently bringing quality keto information to the public.

  • Hi there I am all the way from South Africa.and today is my first day.thanx so much for uploading this.I was feeling very overwhelmed.I just have one question I am breastfeeding can I still use the same recipes just use more fat

  • Thanks lot for explaining it on vegetarians part. I think my 5 year old in no way can do Leto diet for his epilepsy treatment. ‍♀️ I m dropping the idea. U have any helpful information for kidsindian-vegetarian? Plz

  • Hello, thanks for sharing these recipes. Are these meals that can be eaten in a day or spread out across different days? I ask because 5 eggs a day seems like a lot. Is it alright to eat that many?

  • Question, A friend of ine had hospital visit. he is almost 60 years old. He had eaten what he thinks has been healthy all his life. Anyway he has been trying to eat keto this week. and after three days we tested his ketones in his urine and has has none, is there any reason this will happen?

  • when you say bad fat and say butter and ghee are bad fat it shows you are a quack.. saturated fat is best for keto. keto is good for diab 2. i guess u shud stop

  • That’s high fat if you’re a vegan I guess. So… not high fat. If an obese person ate this diet they’d be wondering where all the fat is. They’d be hungry. This diet is about eating the right kind of cholesterol.

  • No matter I do I can’t lose weight. What is that I am doing wrong? 185lb and still standing. My goal is to lose 15 lb. I started intermittent fasting last month nothing has changed.

  • The things I found very good about metabolic food recipes collection is it allowed so that I could conveniently plan my meals and work the prep time frame into my personal crazy schedule. I really could arrange certain aspects of the dinners early on to reduce the prep work when I was pressed for the time. The electronic digital copy on my smartphone made selecting the foods very simple and also the vast majority of those ingredients are simple to locate while commonly affordable. I hunted and couldn’t come across this sort of an excellent number of tested recipes like this anyplace. Find out more here http://bit.ly/2BmHeNz

  • Do I m alien with “insane” genetics if I m natural ripped 100 kg and 1.91 tall guy. Everybody can workout just needs time to find his own training routine. For me 8-12 reps are nothing but for me works this 20 reps for mass and warmup and then 6 reps for power. So stupid comments out there.

  • I hear lots of people keep on talking about Custokebon Secrets. But Im uncertain if it is good. Have you ever tried using this popular weight loss methods?

  • well your reaching your goals with this diet but it consists only of beef and eggs, i don’t think it healthy, you should try to add fish and vegetables

  • I am really curious about your bowel movements. Do you even poop at zero fiber diet? I tried super low carbs before and the bowel movements were so infrequent and I didnt like it because of that.

  • 26:30 Thyroid Function The average person on a low carb or keto diet is not aware that the Thyroid is affected.
Guys here’s a link to what they are talking about.

  • So u consume a high amount of fat. So how are you so lean i dont get it
I comsume very few fat but high amounts of protein but i feel like my belly is bloated and i am a skinny guy. Its just that my belly feels bloated and fat. I consume about 20 grams of fat and 100 grams of protein and over 100 grams of carbs a day. I workout abs in the morning drink a protein shake after. Then i do whatever workout whether its arms, back, or legs during the day usually 2 hours after lunch and i also drink a protein shake after that workout. Can u plz help me understand how to get leaner?

  • Dude, looking at what is in your fridge and your face, you are seriously malnutritioned. Eat some veggies with a tiny amount of butter, you need some healthy fat.

  • How is this a high fat diet? It sounds more like a high protein diet. It sounds to me that your energy intake ratio is 60% protein, 30% fat and 10% complex carbs.

  • There isn’t any fat loss tea or a magic pill. There are only smart dieting and training. NextLevelDiet is a great tool to start with because it gives you everything you need to reach your fitness goals.

  • What exactly is Custokebon Secrets? How does this thing really work? I notice many people keep on speaking about this popular lose weight methods.

  • I feel as though you’re the only one honest about fat. I see some touring fat bombs, etc., and it’s just not needed and unhealthy! Healthy fats only.

  • Dr. Berg, can you go on a keto diet if you don’t need to loose weight, but are dealing with depression and gut issues? If yes what would you eat to gain weight?

  • When said diabetes, liver problems, high cholesterol cannot be on keto I stopped video….she doesn’t know what is she talking about….she has absolutely no clue….

  • How is this a high fat diet? It sounds more like a high protein diet. It sounds to me that your energy intake ratio is 60% protein, 30% fat and 10% complex carbs.

  • Yeah impossible for me… Cheese (specially the healthy ones like mozzarella, parmesan, cottage), avocado, fish, coconut milk (eww) are expensive xD

My diet has more carbs:P specially cuz i love vegetables and fruits (which are mainly carbs), which I accompany with protein and potatoes/rice (carbs).

I’m having hard time putting fat in my diet… atm only have the ones from yogurt and eggs.

  • There is no need to do high/low diet anything your body stores what you deprive. If you go low-fat, and eat a fat, it stores it until it knows that you are regularly eating the needed amount of fat to survive. If you go low-carb, and eat a carb, it stores it until it knows you are regularly eating the needed amounts of carbs to survive.

Eating a balanced diet of HEALTHY sources of all the macro-nutrients your body requires prevents your body from going into “survival mode” because it knows you are able to survive, and will therefore burn unneeded sources of energy (stored energy, which happens to exist in fat cells and muscle fibres) rather than existing on what you ingest each day.

  • How do you accomplish 5 10% carbs with eating rice every day, along with your other recommendations of bananas, oats, quinoa, black beans, and popcorn?

  • Is there any real proof that stomach fire increases when the sun is up and decreases when its down? Also is there any proof that milk induces sleep?

  • This video is great! It helps me recall of the time when my spouse used Custokebon Secrets to lose 18 pounds and enjoy being healthy again! Most people wish to lose fat, but we also require to remain nutritious, which is exactly what Custokebon Secrets given.

  • this vid never says “HOW MUCH” fat to eat. He just says “eat enough but not too much!” What kind of answer is that? I think sometimes he’s confusing

  • what do you Think about high fruit and less fat like many rawfood?Like many of rawfoodist eat.do you Think its bad for the skin.is high fat and high protein better.

  • Wow, you are not just doing keto, you are doing carnivore. Why is that? Why cutting out all the veggies? Net carbs would be still close to zero. Is it digestive issues? (I definitely had some with all that broccoli!) How long are you already following this diet? Have you done blood tests? Any deficiencies (vitamin c)? No constipation problems? Anyway, your discipline and focus are very impressive. Keep rocking!

  • I’m on Day 4 on Keto and have lost at least 10 pounds so far. It’s most likely primarily water weight, but it’s definitely showing on my body already. So excited!!!

  • Hi Joanna is this the Keto diet your speaking of in this video? If not what is the difference because they seem identical!! Just want to be sure ❤️
