  • Have been losing weight counting calories (1500) and walking 1-2miles daily. Losing a lb or 2 a week. Not major but deffo working. Although I’m not huge and only looking to lose another stone or 2. 1500 calories is actually a lot of food if you eat clean.

  • Extremely late to the party but if opening a bakery really is a dream of yours you can never get discouraged. Baking is an uphill battle and you can only kinda get yourself to the point where you want to be by trying and failing over and over again until you get it right.

    In my own experience baking is much much more difficult and/or frustrating than cooking because most of the time baking demands more careful technique/measurements and costs way more time.

    Dude you love donuts, don’t give up! There’s a shit ton of great info about this stuff on the internet or in books that really go into the science of baking. It’ll take time and practice but I promise you it’ll be worth it.

  • I’m less concerned about the calories than what you’re putting inside of your body; an occasional fast food meal won’t affect shit, but if you’re eating this a couple times a week? Ehh. It should be a treat or something reserved for a long day.

  • I have type 2 diabetes and tried the keto diet. I, too, found it overly complicated and trying to keep the carb within a range. I found it far easier to go carnivore. It’s simple. I just eat fat and meat, no plants. So far, my blood sugar is under control, 98 today. I’ve also done a dry fast transitioning to a wet fast. I’m going to keep going on the diet.

  • In Uni we just did a lab where we had to measure one meal that we’ve eaten and compared it to DV%, I choose a single Wendy’s baconator, large fry, large Coke, and small frosty.   • I think what people often get confused is that calorie deficit is different for everyone, because your body naturally burns off a certain amount of calories this can be different for each person. 1500 calories is based off the average person, but the problem is that the average person doesn’t really exist an average is just a rough estimate it’s not accurate. What i’ve learned is that my body naturally can burn off about 800-1000 calories without working out, therefor that is daily calorie intake and resting metabolic rate. If I was to go into calorie deficit i’d have to eat less that 800 calories to lose the weight. Something important to consider is that calories do not equal quantity, if you’re eating a larger quantity of food with lower calories you will still gain weight despite being in calorie deficit. That’s why calories are literally useless and I stopped counting calories a long time ago, start looking at the quantity of food you’re consuming instead. Less food equals less weight gain, that is common sense but not many people actually do this instead they just go based off calories. Food with higher calories means you need to eat less food in order to get your daily calorie intake, so one secret i’ve had to losing weight is actually by eating food with higher calories you’re consuming less quantity of food. If you eat lower calorie foods you’d need to consume a larger quantity

    I studied a lot of the Peer reviewed documents relating to my high blood pressure and Type 2 diabetes. When I was younger I was not overweight. I had a flat belly and used to do what here is described as intermittent fasting. I never ate breakfast and regularly missed lunch. I thought I would try this regime and measure my blood pressure, blood sugar levels and weight. I changed my diet, reduced carbohydrates and salt, but have only increased my execise minutely. No more processed food and only food cooked by me.
    At first my weight did not reduce.
    In the second week I have lost 5 pounds.
    My Systolic blood pressure has reduced from around 145mmHg to around 135mmHg.
    My Diastolic blood pressure has reduced from around 89mmHg to around 81mmHg.
    My resting heart rate has reduced.
    I have only had 2 reading of blood sugar level above 7.5 mmols/L since starting the regime. Both these readings were when I ate food made by someone else.
    The rest have been between 4.8 and 6.7 mmols/L
    The key changes have happened when I started doing intermitent fasting and eating in the way I did when I was younger.
    Dr Jason Fung definitely pointed out something that works for me and I hope others try it and measure their results before adding drugs to their intake.

  • I’ve been overweight for decades. Excessive excersice, low cal, low fat did nothing. I’d given up. I’d accepted my health would further deteriorate, I would die early of some disease, and there was nothing I could do about it.Then 10 months ago I drummed enough courage to try keto. I was eating eggs for breakfast and not eating until late afternoon and having a small meal, wasn’t I already almost doing it anyway? I’ve since progressed to IF, and longer and longer fastsfinishing a 65 hour one just this week ( much to the dismay and concern of the ignorant around me). I’m 57 and have lost 52 pounds so far. I’m no longer diabetic (yay me), off several medications, and my blood work is good. I’m halfway to where I need to be but I’ll get there. Thankyou!! To people like Dr Fung and others, you’re literally saving lives.

  • How can he really avoid the topic of calories? Sure, a slimmer person (under 180) will get stuffed long before, say, 1500 calories within a small window and still be at a deficit. And the super obese can eat a lot while still being in a deficit. Us middle fats (200-300) can easily exceed our calorie burn from eating within a small window. No I won’t necessarily feel full actually. I have enough sense to still count my calories, but what if there are people eating their butts off for their OMAD or small eating window? At some point, physics wins and these people won’t lose weight. I wish there was a LITTLE more to say about food/calories.

  • I do like pretty much all of your content if not all of it. and i even liked this. but knowing a thing or two about cooking/baking (and lasting only thirty seconds lol), I saw some issues. I dont know what recipe you used, but you probably could’ve used a much simpler, easy to understand one (such as binging with babish’s). The most fatal mistake was adding the vanilla to the yeast mixture. vanilla has alcohol, which, in concentration (such as in vanilla/almond extract or in liquors/high spirits) can kill off yeast. thus your yeast probably died as a result of you adding it to the blooming yeast mixture. which is the main reason the dough didn’t rise (presumably). that recipe also did not seem to use enough liquid (probably another 1/4-1/2c of milk, water, etc if i had to guess). Thus the dense ball of dough as opposed to nice airy fluffy one, which was compounded by the vanilla murdered yeast. Also, fridging yeast doughs for thirty, forty mins… or even like 3 hours is rather pointless for proofing, because cold impedes that process (though long proofs in the fridge enhance yeast doughs usually (like 8hrs+)). Just some tips for baking. but all n all your content is great and i enjoy watching all of it pretty much lol. sorry for the lengthy critique but i just saw the problems and wanted to address them. you keep on keepin on with the content cuz its great and entertaining. gg

You drinking a diet coke is going to have a bad effect in your body. Calories of a freaking Frosty versus calories bowl of salad are two different types of calories. It seems to be an international mother code at least for the middle aged generation. It’s like helping an addict overcome his addiction with medicine while neglecting the reason he took drugs in the first place.   • A month ago I weighed my heaviest at 94 kg. I desperately wanted to do something. That’s when I came across Dr Fung’s obesity code podcasts and my life has completely changed. I cant believe I was kept in the dark about so many things, oh and this is despite consulting a dietitian every week.   • I think you should try that one again, or some other baking. If the milk was hot it killed the yeast and then that could be why the donuts did not rise. Or if the yeast was old that can cause that to happen too. If the yeast did not foam up then the yeast was not good (old).

    Before I began I asked a friend how it works and they said: only eat between 11am and 7pm. When you feel hungry always wait until it goes away then comes back again and I promise you it’ll be 11am again by then.

  • I think what people often get confused is that calorie deficit is different for everyone, because your body naturally burns off a certain amount of calories this can be different for each person. 1500 calories is based off the average person, but the problem is that the average person doesn’t really exist an average is just a rough estimate it’s not accurate. What i’ve learned is that my body naturally can burn off about 800-1000 calories without working out, therefor that is daily calorie intake and resting metabolic rate. If I was to go into calorie deficit i’d have to eat less that 800 calories to lose the weight. Something important to consider is that calories do not equal quantity, if you’re eating a larger quantity of food with lower calories you will still gain weight despite being in calorie deficit. That’s why calories are literally useless and I stopped counting calories a long time ago, start looking at the quantity of food you’re consuming instead. Less food equals less weight gain, that is common sense but not many people actually do this instead they just go based off calories. Food with higher calories means you need to eat less food in order to get your daily calorie intake, so one secret i’ve had to losing weight is actually by eating food with higher calories you’re consuming less quantity of food. If you eat lower calorie foods you’d need to consume a larger quantity

  • This probably might work for healthy people with no underlying conditions. You might need to watch it out if epileptic. Skipping meals can trigger seizures.

  • The biggest misconception about Diet Coke is that it’s better for you. It’s actually worse. The sweeteners they put in Diet Coke are worse than sugar. Everything has natural sugar in it but adding substitute sweeteners mixed with natural sugar is way more diabetic. So there would be more calories in a Diet Coke than a regular coke also regular coke tastes better.

  • Do you eat 1500 and then burn like 200-300 cals so your deficit is 1200? Or is your deficit 1500 and then burn like 200-300 cals as well? If that makes sense I’m confused

Ironically, Dr. Fung said to eat until you are full, but in the context of Muslims he said Ramadan is not healthy because Muslims gorge (eating until full). What is it? I always see this from non Muslims, their bias against Islam would not allow them to give it say a fair thing.

  • Here’s the paradox eating makes you hungry?? Weirdly when you get off the insulin roller coaster by longer periods of fasting then you find food cravings much more manageable….which in turn makes the fasts that much more bearable. My advice avoid white bread. That is damn difficult to avoid getting hungry an hour or two later.

  • Fasting is not to loose weight because you will put most of it back on after it ends. Fasting is not shortening your feeding window in a 24 hour period. Fasting is consuming pure water only, preferably fresh spring water. You can’t have any nutrients in the water or it stops the fasting process.

Current studies, as well as Ayurvedic medicine, know that high quality oil and fat helps in weight loss. It all depends on the physical constitution and the digestive capacity.   • Fasting is not to loose weight because you will put most of it back on after it ends. Fasting is not shortening your feeding window in a 24 hour period. Fasting is consuming pure water only, preferably fresh spring water. You can’t have any nutrients in the water or it stops the fasting process.

  • The biggest misconception about Diet Coke is that it’s better for you. It’s actually worse. The sweeteners they put in Diet Coke are worse than sugar. Everything has natural sugar in it but adding substitute sweeteners mixed with natural sugar is way more diabetic. So there would be more calories in a Diet Coke than a regular coke also regular coke tastes better.

  • Here’s the paradox eating makes you hungry?? Weirdly when you get off the insulin roller coaster by longer periods of fasting then you find food cravings much more manageable….which in turn makes the fasts that much more bearable. My advice avoid white bread. That is damn difficult to avoid getting hungry an hour or two later.

  • Right when you added the yeast to hot milk… not warm… but hot milk, the yeast immediately died. Then you also didn’t put the egg I. On time… which is pike another sort of food for the yeast. And yes there are specific motions for kneeling… I might be a year late but I hope that helped… lol this was a very funny video to watch though!!! A+ for effort!!!

  • A month ago I weighed my heaviest at 94 kg. I desperately wanted to do something. That’s when I came across Dr Fung’s obesity code podcasts and my life has completely changed.   • How can he really avoid the topic of calories? Sure, a slimmer person (under 180) will get stuffed long before, say, 1500 calories within a small window and still be at a deficit. And the super obese can eat a lot while still being in a deficit. Us middle fats (200-300) can easily exceed our calorie burn from eating within a small window. No I won’t necessarily feel full actually. I have enough sense to still count my calories, but what if there are people eating their butts off for their OMAD or small eating window? At some point, physics wins and these people won’t lose weight. I wish there was a LITTLE more to say about food/calories.

You drinking a diet coke is going to have a bad effect in your body. Calories of a freaking Frosty versus calories bowl of salad are two different types of calories.   • I have lost 8 kgs so far after 7 weeks.
    Before I began I asked a friend how it works and they said: only eat between 11am and 7pm. When you feel hungry always wait until it goes away then comes back again and I promise you it’ll be 11am again by then.

  • Your exposure is valid for obese people in an early stage who initiate the diet and alter the standard of living. Current studies, as well as Ayurvedic medicine, know that high quality oil and fat helps in weight loss. It all depends on the physical constitution and the digestive capacity. However, your theory is valid! In spite of knowing the cietntifca evidence of some myths of which you still believes, you did a good job!

  • I have type 2 diabetes and tried the keto diet. I, too, found it overly complicated and trying to keep the carb within a range. I found it far easier to go carnivore. It’s simple. I just eat fat and meat, no plants. So far, my blood sugar is under control, 98 today. I’ve also done a dry fast transitioning to a wet fast. I’m going to keep going on the diet.
