  • FYI, “clean eating” doesn’t mean processed meat (meat in general), dairy, or eggs… the latter subsequently cannot be legally labelled as a health food in the US or Canada. Worried about protein? Oz for oz beans, legumes, and cruciferous vegetables (think broccoli) have more protein than steak and other meat without the cancer/ heart disease or harm to animals.

  • There is a lot of hidden sugars and empty carbs in many of his selections. Clif Bars are loaded with sugar. Wheat bread is often high in sugar and sodium. Granola contains a lot of sugar, and Light ‘n’ Fit yogurt contains some questionable artificial sweeteners. Regular eggs come from chickens that are often not fed a vegetarian diet, and (side note) are treated inhumanely. I would opt for: Kind Bars (the 5g sugar varieties); apples instead of bananas; quinoa or steel cut oats versus the rice and packaged oatmeal; sprouted whole grain breads; and plain Greek yogurt with added vanilla extract and honey. I would also cook my own chicken breasts and add Penzey’s no-salt spices to them.

  • rice and beans with eggs for breakfast, with a little salad. Oat, whey, banana, peanut-butter, ovaltine malt, almond milk smoothie with a sandwich for lunch. Switch it up for dinner with something like spaghetti (alla puttanesca is my fave and super easy to make), or a fish palisami (1lb spinach, a chopped onion, a can coconut milk, lb of frozen fish, salt and pepper, cooked in pot until the fish is done) on hapa rice (half brown half white rice). All cheap, not a whole lot of meat but still good protein in there. it’s easy to eat healthy if you cook at home.

  • It’s a comfort knowing you don’t have to go to high end markets like Whole Foods or Sprouts, and spend 100’s of dollars on groceries a week.

  • If you cant cook rice with a rice cooker you got serious issues man. Just throw in rice.. rince once..add water till 1 part of your index finger also known as the Tip segment or Distal phalanx. When in doubt add a bit more.. rather have sticky rice than undercooked. Also brown rice isnt better you..just get 20 kg jasmin rice at your local chinese store.

  • i get the concept here but sugar filled yogurt, sugar cliff bars, GMO Uncle Bens rice and sodium/nitrite packed deli meat. Not so sure about this stuff being a go to meal

    3 Burritos with approx 150g chicken and 300g rice = 70g protein, 180g carbs, 18g fat = 1162 Calories! And I’m sure you could even bump up the calories with a good source of fats like guacamole too!

  • man $12/lb for chicken crazy af. even $5 is expensive. i have never bought chicken for less that $3/lb in california none the less, usually around 1.40-2.50/lb

  • Daily I always have some oats, greek yoghurt and last few weeks a protein cookie which has 9.8g fat, 20 carbs, 7.4 sugars and 38 protein.

  • I would also recommend visiting the local community markets, such as; Indian community, Muslim or Jewish communities and hit their local markets. You will definitely find GOLD OFFERS. I know I did.

You can add other things to your diet so you don’t get bored, but from a health standpoint, they usually aren’t necessary. Humans are Grainivores. Having a diet of mainly unprocessed grain will keep your blood sugar stable, help you feel more full, give you long-lasting energy throughout your day, and contrary to popular belief, give you almost all the nutrients you need. processed sugars and refined foods are the main things you should try and avoid, for various reasons. If you’re looking to gain knowledge about nutrition, go to the library and take out a book on it. Eating the right food, and avoiding the wrong foods can have so many good effects on your life other than the obvious ones.
