  • Well everyone knows sugar is bad for you at this point so the health issues associated with it are pretty much the consumer’s fault.

  • Eating oats for breakfast makes you full for longer throughout the day and not be hungry shortly after. It releases it’s energy slower unlike other foods so you can keep working and concentrating for longer.

  • But you participated in the documentary “What the health” that says that sugar is not responsible for the diabetes disease. https://medium.com/@tedryce/what-the-health-review-5-things-that-the-pro-vegan-netflix-documentary-gets-wrong-cbe13615213b Shame.

  • How are corporations “legally required to maximize shareholder profits”? That text is lifted out of a ‘head-to-head’ debate sort of article….that seems like a disingenuous way to start out the video citing that passage like it’s fact…

  • You’re a vegan and you have a problem with sugar? Mate, rice, potatoes, pasta, corn, fruit, are all loaded with carbs, i.e. sugar.

  • All ANIMAL PRODUCTS are UNHEALTHY! Plant-based (vegan) diet is the only diet proven to prevent the number one dietary killer, Heart Disease, while all ANIMAL PRODUCTS cause HEART DISEASE and the preventable 14/15 killer diseases. All edible oils are unhealthy, they all also cause HEART DISEASE. We are herbivores so stop supporting the animal agriculture industries who are the leading cause of climate change, world famine, weak global economy, and preventable diseases. They are a lose/lose business that SIGNIFICANTLY harms the human body, environment, animals, and others through diseases and starvation. IT MUST END! STOP SUPPORTING INJUSTICE! LIVE VEGAN! We have vegan versions of almost basically every animal product today, it’s a lot more easier to transition to veganism than ever. Make the right choice for ya’ll own sake at least.

  • Today I learned anyone who’s experienced success on a high-carb, low-fat diet that includes refined sugar is either paid by the sugar industry, an addict, a rapist, or a troll. Good to know.

Going to finish my bowl of potatoes with sugary BBQ sauce and a glass of pineapple juice.

Lean body, perfect lipid panel, vitamins and minerals. Hate us ’cause they ain’t us.

  • how does sugar cause inflammation though? Nobody has actually shown the causation. High blood sugar causes high insulin fasting levels yes but that is from excess dietary fat. It aint sugars fault.

  • What the hell does “the libertarian world” have to do with anything? It’s Democrats and Republicans that have allowed this shit to not only occur, but continue as well.

Oh, I get it, now! You’re not libertarian, therefore they are your enemy, and any chance to take a stab at them is valid. Maybe next time try placing the blame on those who are actually guilty. That would be Democrats and Republicans, if you’ve been paying attention for the last 100 years.

  • Great video! Same idea vegans shouldn’t be able to contribute to scientific studies because they have a religious (cult) bias:)
    End corruption I agree.

  • ATTENTION
TYT blocked me from making comments on my other channel for exposing the fact that they glossed over the new DNC leaks that exposed Hillary Clinton’s pay to play corruption.

These leaks came out at the same time as the Colin Powell emails, but TYT will not report on it because they are trying to protect Hillary’s name.

TYT is actively choosing to hide stories like this because they do not want Donald Trump in office, and will block you if you expose them for it.

  • you should be more clear about what type of sugar you’re talking about. i know theres the video thumbnail. and i know you’re only talking about refined sugar industry here. but some won’t. don’t scare people away from eating bananas and dates lol

  • Trust me, consuming lots of sugary products is really bad. This happens to me now. I recently started to learn baking cakes. With all those sugar, eggs and milk, my acne flares up. I have like almost 10 acnes on my cheek, chin and neck. I used to have bad acne before but then I cut down my intake of sugary and dairy products, it really clear my skin up. Not entirely clear, I do get 1 to 3 pimples or acne but it was much better. I’m telling the truth based on my experience. If you have acne or pimple, reduce sugar and milk intake. Don’t give up everyone. Thank you doctor for spreading the word.

  • We have slew of videos on the influences of industry. You can find them at https://nutritionfacts.org/topics/industry-influence. -NF Team

  • Well everyone knows sugar is bad for you at this point so the health issues associated with it are pretty much the consumer’s fault.

  • I am concerned about what “daphnereloaded” posted on her you tube site April21 about green leafy vegetables causing health problems such as goiter and male breasts. Please comment on this. We want to know whats healthy to eat, whats not in vegan diet

  • I can’t stand the taste of artificial sweeteners so I will continue to eat sugar. Besides our body needs glucose for energy and it helps transport sodium and phyto-nutrients.

  • No good has come or can come from this corruption of science. We can see it in the way Americans seems to hate or resent science, and also in the way the message changes or is unclear in almost everything. This is real life and concerns people’s real lives and deaths, and still we just seem to play around with it like it is a game for billionaires.

The reality seems to be that most of the American economy is build on things that are bad in one way or another that we work to get certain people addicted to. It is a sick system that doesn’t work, and we are stuck with it because that is the way our money system works.

  • We are ALL biased AF! Why? It all comes down to existential crisis (at the end of the day). Ego demands some curving of the reality to strenghten it’s survival…

  • If sugar is so bad, explain how Dr. Kempner got his patients with kidney disease, heart disease, diabetes, better. Diet was mainly carbs, rice and table sugar.

  • You want to know how they slept at night? ON PILES OF MONEY!! MUAHAHAHAHA!! Wait, $49,000? Damn they sold their souls for a pittance. The Dude Abides.

  • What is baffling to me is that the sugar industry already knows they are a pro-inflammatory food, so why don’t they start funding alternative sweeteners and become the leading producer of stevia, monk fruit, and eurthritol?

Put your money where the public wants to go sugar industry, it’s not rocket science..

  • Photosynthesis is the act of plants producing sugar. The Krebs cycle is the ONLY DNA instruction that is shared by every living cell on this planet, from blowfly maggots, to whales, to
giant redwood trees. The Krebs cycle instructs the cell how to use sugar to get energy to sustain life. Plants offer nectar (sugar) to birds and insects as a means to insuring they get propagated. Bees produce honey (sugar) to feed the colony through the winter.
Human breast milk is 7.5% sugar. Do you believe evolution would have us feed our offspring poison? The same breast milk contains 1% protein at a time when the baby is in its most rapid
growth phase and vitamins and minerals comprise less than 1%.. This sugar is poison nonsense is lunacy. I don’t work for the sugar industry, I’m an air conditioning mechanic who can understand what I read. I agree that kids drinking carbonated softdrinks promotes cavities,
The acid eats the enamel THEN the sugar can rot your teeth.

  • 0:15 “It’s just how the system is set up”?
And what system would that be? I wonder!
    Could it be, CAPITALISM?
It’s time to face the facts people, the “system” is flawed. It’s not the fault of the corporations. It’s the fault of people who still believe that capitalism is the best alternative. If the food industry will be under public control, their will coincide with public interest.

  • This isn’t really ‘just how the system’s set up’ as a system engineer, I have experience of changing systems. Systems continue because WE don’t change them. Let’s change these systems.

  • satanic zionist elite’s are trying to murder you and murder your Love one’s/America puppet government is approving it no matter what\America Revolution must be televised Wake the FUCK Up and See the Truth now

  • If sugar is not food why do you promote a diet where 80% of calories come from sugar? Sugar is food! Food is sugar! It’s where we get energy from. This is basic. What are the main signals for hunger? Low blood glucose and low muscle glycogen levels.

  • Dr Greger, words don’t describe how much we all appreciate you. And we’re happy to donate and help out, where we can. You’re awesome. Fan from Australia.

  • I gym alot and eat super healthy and I can say without a doubt sugar that isn’t coming directly from fruit is the worst thing for your body there is absolutely 0 benefits for eating sugar it gives your body absolutely nothing

  • so the natural health experts have been saying this for YEARS!!! But you idiot Liberals will continue to believe big pharma and take their vaccines and drugs and poo poo natural health holistic healing alternatives. Makes sense huh? You support marijuana, dont trust large corporations, but STILL BELIEVE in big pharma drugs that kill over 50k people a year. Do you know doctors are the number 3 killers in America!

  • This is hardly a revelation. Anyone who pays attention to what they’re told by their dentist, will be aware when sugar is added to one’s saliva, it has almost an acid effect to the enamel to one’s teeth. But they lie to regarding fluoride in toothpaste, for this has no benefit prevention of tooth decay. There are many countries that have banned the fluoridation of water supplies. This is far more interesting than the sugar debate.

  • youre insane..sugar is needed to LIVE..everything you eat is reduced to sugars and proteins..youre absolutely a nutter…
sugar has nothing to do with heart disease..diabetes yes..sugar no…youre beyond nuts…doc johnny…
show me any research anywhere else in the world that connects sugar and heart disease…youre beyond insanity

  • you should be more clear about what type of sugar you’re talking about. i know theres the video thumbnail. and i know you’re only talking about refined sugar industry here. but some won’t. don’t scare people away from eating bananas and dates lol

  • I’m 52, and I’ve never thought that sugar was good for me. It’s always been known as junk food. Nobody is shocked to hear that it’s unhealthy.

  • I’ve been mostly off of sugar for about a year and and not only do I feel a lot better, but I really have no desire for it anymore. The cravings went away within a few months and now it’s gotten to the point where I prefer salty/savory to sweet. In fact, on the rare occasion when I eat something sweet I kind of dislike it, whereas I used to have an enormous sweet tooth.

  • America the promise land of bigotry, double standards, unquenchable greed, ignorance,”family values” and perversion. An american doesnt have a lot to be proud of. Your country da shits.

  • Don’t forget that Coca Cola wanted to sell their drinks in 1930s Germany, which was outlawed. So they started Fanta to sell to the Nazis.

  • I’ve been on to sugar for 7 years now it is so insidious and ingrained in our culture. I can’t take my toddler anywhere without it being offered to her and when I refuse I’m the one that gets the strange looks…no…you are trying to give heroine to my daughter….you are getting the look from me. So thank you for getting this out there more. Every bit of reporting helps. Maybe someday everyone around me will wake up.There are sweet alternatives like honey and applesauce that can still make those donuts delicious without poisoning yourself.

  • satanic zionist elite’s are trying to murder you and murder your Love one’s/America puppet government is approving it no matter what\America Revolution must be televised Wake the FUCK Up and See the Truth now

  • corn subsidies. corny syrup. corn in eevveerryytthhiinngg from building materials to the food you eat… but yea… sugar… lets shine the fucking spotlight on sugar… facepalm

  • This is seriously the first time in my life that i heard this. How stupid do you have to be to believe you don’t get fat from sugar?

  • well… in my eyes all evidence points into the direction that being overweight and being too inactive is the main reason for heart diseases and most health problems associated with certain types of foods/ingredients.

EVERYTHING is unhealthy if you consume TOO MUCH of it. if you are overweight, you most likely consume too much of some thing.

sugar only makes it easier to feel unsatiated and keep consuming more.

  • Great article. My old Granny said sugar was just plain poison, looks like she had something….
The corporations got away with a kind of a nutritional miscarriage of justice and its just so sad to see the results; young people with Diabetes everywhere.

  • I’ve bern taking a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with the mother every day & my sugar cravings have disappeared

I don’t read replies, don’t bother sending them. This is only a comment section, not a forum for snide debate. sorry to the remaining civilized people

  • We’re at peak corruption. The news about governments, corporations, and the people running them is like an avalanche of treason and lies and backstabbing and the complete disregard for sustainability or the average citizen. We are openly being beat into submission by our own elected officials. Crazy.

  • The same can be said for the vegetable oil industry. It’s unbelievable how widespread psychopathic behaviour is in the food corporation world. Profit at the expense of public health. But the research is public information, people. Educate yourselves.

  • This is further evidence that the sugar industry should be held to task much like the tobacco industry was 20 years ago. How many people have paid a massive personal health price for this conspiracy?

  • I basically only eat organic and avoid anything that comes in a box, bottle, can or jar. It’s not so expensive, I feel healthy and my skin glows. Try it out for a month, you’ll feel alive, unless you are a zombie, you’d have to eat organic brains.

  • It really pissed me off the lack of care this guy had for when the girl was speaking. He’s just waiting for her to finish what she’s saying and barely listening. Great topic and one I have an interest in but I couldn’t get past 3 minutes and 10 seconds because of him…

  • Hello. I’ve been adding lots of refined sugar to my hclf diet for years and my HbA1c levels are in the middle of the healthy range. Also, my BMI is 20. I’m 35 years old and thriving on sugar. Sugar is the most important nutrient for the human body. On a 80/10/10 diet, adding sugar is great. Furthermove, I rarely have cavities thanks to my good dental hygiene.

  • Why do I always see a million vegans on YouTube but none in real life. News flash: no one is going to go vegan because some stranger on YouTube told them to.

  • Natural sugars aren’t bad, but animal fat is bad. Fat is worse than sugar. It’s the excess of fat and sugar combined that clogs up the arteries and causes all these diseases. Carbs are great! Natural plant based foods, have more sugar than fat, and it’s really healthy. Don’t blame sugar, blame the processed shit food that’s out there. That’s the stuff that gives you bad health.

  • America also has some of the highest rates of animal product consumption. You think the meat and dairy industry doesn’t pay scientists to do “studies” to support their products?

  • Natural sugar that comes from fruit is good, processed sugar is bad. But whats ten times worse is animal fat. Natural fat that humans were meant to consume (nuts, avocado, etc.) are great for you. Animal fat and cholesterol are the worst thing for humans and are the cause of so many diseases. How bout you tackle that concept. Just make sure you have Sam on to help you cover both sides of the argument this time. Go vegan:)

  • This was found ti be the case in regards to the supposit “benefits of soy” as well… and how they managed to convince people that soy has been a diet staple in Asia for centuries, while at least in Japan it’d well known that soy is harmful and has only been consumed in the form of natto, soy sauce, miso and tempeh (all only in very small amounts), because these products have gone through a long process if fermentation which is the only way to get rid of the harmful things in soy. Soy is also probably the main cause of the obesity epidemic in America, because of the high goitrogen content (especially in genetically modified soy which about 90% of soy produced in the US is). There are soy products in 95% of the food there and non-organically animals are fed soy, which isn’t done anywhere else.

  • Grace and Hasan, you should check out the documentary “Merchants if Doubt”, which goes through how the same guys that professionally deny climate change were also the same guys who denied smoking causing cancer. I wouldn’t be surprised if this isn’t the same group that was pushing sugar.

  • The fact of the matter is that anything that has “20%, 50%, 75% less” of anything just means that they replaced whatever they took out with more sugar. You can’t take something out and leave it like that. Companies have to put something in its place to keep it tasting good. It’s better to just get the original product that doesn’t have all these fancy “health” statements to pull you in.

  • So happy to hear you talking about this! I did my undergrad research topic on this exact subject, a neuroscientist graded it and gave me a perfect score, and it’s exactly right.

  • And yeah, in the “Low fat” food they put in more sugar too keep it tasty, so the Low fat food is worse than the normal fat food. Everyone should watch Fed Up. I mean, I watched it in school and I live in Sweden.

  • Hasan, its really irresponsible of you to spread missleading information like this. If you are truly interested in diet and health you should see the documentaries “Fat vs sugar”, “Forks over knives” and “Food Matters”. Sure, the pure sugar industy is not playing fair, but not all sugar is the same. Pure consentrated sugar is not the same as high carb food. There is a reason why people who go low carb stinks (people i know who have said it after they went low carb, as well as other people in documentaries about diet has mentioned it), while those who go vegan can throw away their deo because they dont need it anymore. After i became vegan my mom started yelling at me for throwing clean clothes in the washroom (after i had biked to and from work and worked for 6 hours with a lot of physical activity), she couldnt tell the difference because my dirty clothes still smelled like laundry detergent:P

  • I want to cook for Hasan every day. I want to make him his favorite meals and take care of him in every way i humanly can. And then give him some high yellow cakes for desert <3 <3 <3 IF IT AINT HASAN IT AINT RIGHT!!!!! • Went from 6 Cokes a day to 6 diet a day (for years). No weight change. Went from diet to water (for years). No weight change. Fat makes me fat. Sugar has no noticeable effect.

  • This is bad but it is funny how you guys never talk about the bullshit in meat and dairy industry. They still have you believe its healthy and necessary for our health when its totally the opposite. Talk about manipulating studies….

  • I’m drinking a coke right now and I’m not overweight. Everyone knows soda is bad for you but it’s fine in moderation… Although to fair, I’m having a cavity filled soon. I’m sure soda played a.role in that.

  • Yes the all powerful sugar industry.. their product is so valuable it’s given away for free in restaurants. At least they don’t claim to donate all income to charity which actually is a charity run by themselves.

  • See what happens when you lie, CBC. Everything you say is now scrutinized. I don’t believe this story on the account that it’s CBC. What’s the agenda? Tax sugar-based commodities?

  • I thought science was meant to be objective? Oh and by the way, fat is still worse than sugar for weight gain. Just because it was funded, doesn’t mean the opposite is true. Although they are both bad. Wholefood carbohydrates are the best thing for weight loss.

  • i wouldn’t believe in anything (co-)funded by the Cocola-Cola rn Global Energy Balance Network, but the problem is, you don’t always know, if you just read an article on such studies.

  • Wait, the last thing said is kinda wrong. The liver can’t make sugar/carb energy into fat… it just gets that energy stored in fat. This is an important distinction because there is a lot of food out there that removes fat and that’s bad for a healthy diet. Fat in does not equal fat gained. No organ, not even the liver, turns energy into fat. Added weight on the human body is energy of any kind not used. High fat, low carb diets can actually reduce weight. Also, those foods out there that have the fat removed they replace it with carbs/sugars to make it still taste appealing. Since carbs/sugar are broken down so much more easily, reduced fat foods actually raise the chance of weight gain.

  • Sucrose and iso glucose are everywhere, do contribute the blame to carbohydrates when fructose is also a type of carb. The few people who know they have diabetes may not know eating a candy is even worse than eating bread. Nurses and med students are often blind to the legalism or may not know the chemistry behind every daily value spreadsheet. To give you an idea how bad it is most people don’t know table sugar is sucrose or what sucrose is, and we are on the verge of the largest health care crisis the world has ever seen because of it.

  • Sugar itself is not dangerous, but people eat way too much of it so they end up in a serious caloric surplus. Sugar itself is not dangerous, but they add on very easily to lifestyle diseases.

  • If sugar is not food why do you promote a diet where 80% of calories come from sugar? Sugar is food! Food is sugar! It’s where we get energy from. This is basic. What are the main signals for hunger? Low blood glucose and low muscle glycogen levels.

  • This is the same thing that is happening with the FDA’s war on vaping. The tobacco companies and pharma companies that stand to lose money as people quit cigarettes in favor of vaping and thereby pass on big pharma’s drugs to do so… these companies fund bogus “studies” trying to show that vaping is killing children, while the british halth service has done syudies proving the opposite. Hey TYT! Do a story on the war on vaping! (3 mos. tobacco free thanks to e cigarettes)

  • This is precisely why it is so important to vote for a third party. Because if we continue to only vote for the lesser evil the two parties will have a great deal of leeway to be evil and perpetuate money in politics. And with money in politics, such disastrous misinformation to the public will probably continue for a very very long time.

  • We have increased our sugar consumption by 100% since 1982! All thanks to the sugar industry. Watch Sugar Coated on Netflix. Completely backs up this video and gives much more insight.

  • the egg, corn, soy, meat, and dairy industries have also used their lobbying abilities and false marketing to misinform the public. Doctors recommend dairy and meat, just like they use to recommend and prescribe cigarettes. Refined sugar and refined fat are not healthy for you. Whole foods with naturally occurring sugar and fat can be healthy depending on the source. For example, nuts, avocados, coconuts, olives and seeds are healthy sources of fat. The oils from these foods have been found to be artery clogging and carcinogenic similar to animal fat. But when you eat them in whole food form, the fiber and other components of the food help to slow down the absorption of the fats and better digested. Same with sugar. Refined sugar is horrible for you, but when it is found in whole food forms such a fruit, tubers, beans, whole grains, your body is able to digest it properly with the help of the fiber. This gives it a lower glycemic index and insulin spike than eating refined sugars. Bill Gate’s Foundation did a study on what was the leading cause of death, and found that lack of fruit consumption was the number one reason. We should really be eating 9-10 servings of fruit a day, not 3-5, according to this study. Also, if you look up world consumption of fat, sugar, and meat, the distribution is pretty similar, especially for fat and sugar. We need to agree as educators and in the health field, that refined sugars and refined fat are both bad for you, rather than this whole “which one is worse”. I agree though, most low-fat foods are not healthy because they are replaced with sugar, salt, and additives to improve the flavor. We just gotta go back to eating real food, rather than processed and diet food.

  • My parents are still scared of buttery smooth scrambled eggs. I lost 40 pounds in just under 5 months when I added it to my diet, but they’re still terrified of fats. Well done, sugar bastards.

  • This is bad but it is funny how you guys never talk about the bullshit in meat and dairy industry. They still have you believe its healthy and necessary for our health when its totally the opposite. Talk about manipulating studies….

  • I agree: ban food corporations from directly funding studies. If these companies are feeling so giving and charitable, they can donate to the university instead.

  • I almost always get free water at restaurants, and so do most of the people I am usually with. Can’t imagine drinking things like sodas all the time, it makes me sick thinking about it.

  • Refined sugar is calorie dense so of course it’s going to push you into a caloric surplus really fast. But fat is even denser and of course will make you fat just as fast. I think what people fail to realize is that a lot of things we think of as “sugary” like Oreos are like 50% fat. You have to cut out both refined sugar and refined fat (oils).

  • Sugar is the bigger problem, i cut sugar, no juice no soda pure water and work out 1 hour and 30 minutes for 6-7 months and lost over 50 pounds. Sugar is a big problem

  • I’ve lost over 50 pounds over the last ten years by eliminating sodas, sugars and processed carbohydrates (not natural carbs)! Still losing slowly, but surely…

  • I believe it. I tried to cut sugar out when I got pregnant… lasted 3 weeks. lost a lotta weight from that and a lot walking. wasn’t a bad lost as I was over weight to begin with but the sugar adds a lot of weight.

  • Without disease, the pharmaceutical industry will go bankrupt. They profit from selling drugs that do far more harm than healing. I had a blood problem and a chubby tummy. After cutting off sugar and reducing the carbs, my blood problem was gone, along with the chubby tummy.

  • how does sugar cause inflammation though? Nobody has actually shown the causation. High blood sugar causes high insulin fasting levels yes but that is from excess dietary fat. It aint sugars fault.

  • In defense of Quaker Oats, those will fill you up and they’re about the healthiest carbs you can eat. The raw oats, not the sugared up flavor packs…

  • Back in the 40’s n 50’s big tobacco’s own research was credited as being the best funded, and some of the highest quality scientific studies done in their time….but we didn’t find that out till way later on

  • You’re a vegan and you have a problem with sugar? Mate, rice, potatoes, pasta, corn, fruit, are all loaded with carbs, i.e. sugar.

  • The part about oatmeal is actually true, i can tell you from experience.
When i eat whole grain foods, like bran flakes or oatmeal, i don’t stay as hungry throughout the day… it really tends to help me with my craves throughout the day.
Fuller longer just means it does not digest that quickly, so your’re not hungry again before you know it.
I’ve even been losing weight eating like this.
So i know it’s true simply from experience.
Same with eggs, eggs keep you from being hungry too soon.
BUT i did noticed that no matter how well i eat, if i drink a soda at any point in the day, i get to feeling pretty damn sick.

  • Harvard has been doing plenty of health study obfuscation. They have been trying to characterize all carbohydrate into the same category so that fat and protein don’t look as bad. Starchy carbohydrates do not behave the same way as simple sugars. The complex whole foods starchy carbohydrates and fiber rich whole fruits should be essentially your entire diet with the addition of vegetables. No oils and very minimal processed foods or animal products.

  • They don’t write the (Daily Value) of sugar on ANY food item…this is for a reason. Because we would eat half our days sugar intake just from one item…Daily intake of sugar is 25 grams for woman and 35grams for men perday according to the Heart Association…They put twice that in ONE soda…

  • 5:59 This has been debunked. De novo lipogenesis is extremely unlikely and inefficient in humans. Most excess CHO is burned off via dietary thermogenesis, extra fidgeting, heat, etc.

  • You should read a book called “Salt, Sugar, Fat” It was really Kellog’s and General Mills that owned such a huge share of that market that they basically controlled it. Of course all of this junk science just goes hand in hand with the fact that childhood obesity rates skyrocketed. SUGAR IS BAD FOR YOU. It has NO NUTRITIONAL VALUE. The natural sugars found in foods like milk and apples are so much astronomically lower that it should be illegal. Yet if you start talking about food regulation to reduce obesity, people complain that they’re losing “freedom.” It’s not exactly “Free” to put the insurance burden on the taxpayer after you’ve made them morbidly obese by filling the shelves with virtually inedible foods.

  • So, even sugar is more dangerous than Cannabis…and still legal, because you cant make 25000 renewable, sustainable products out of sugarcane…

  • The sugar industry is doing exactly what the tobacco industry did, same as the fuel industry when lead was recognized as harmful. Its called the ‘four dog defense’. Deny, confuse, downplay and finally they just tell us “well you chose to use it”.

  • S O if these corporate establishments are responsible for at least trillions of DEATHS dating way back ‘lawfully…only a public lynching would be appropriate for thousands millions responsible dating way back then the politicians presidents dating way back LET! this happen and YOU know they KNEW!! or NUKE north korea iran hit the ‘send button at the same time now!

  • I quit soda all together.. I mostly drink tea and then water. If I need sugar I get it from fruits like watermelon or plum. After reading the benefits from tea it made it easier to cut putting long-named chemicals, refined sugar and shit in my body.

My mind and body have felt way better since.

  • 25% Fats 50% Carbs 25% Proteins is a simple triangle for healthy diet. Healthy / natural sources of food is the main concern i.e. vegetables, fruits, nuts, legumes, multigrains, etc. Avoid salts and sugars as much as possible. Limit alcohol use. Plain water should be one of the only drinks to drink everyday, throughout the day. Coffee and tea in moderation minus sugars / dairy. A possible plan to follow is 2/3 body weight x 1 oz water + 12 oz for every half hour of moderate exercise, or in hot environment, per day. So 150 lb person would drink a minimum of 100 oz water per day while on weight loss plan. These are the steps I’ve learned about in the last few years that give me more energy to work around my physical hang ups while following a trajectory to a healthy lifestyle that is also sustainable and enjoyable

  • Eating oats for breakfast makes you full for longer throughout the day and not be hungry shortly after. It releases it’s energy slower unlike other foods so you can keep working and concentrating for longer.

  • This is so weird. I just watched “Pom Wonderful Presents the Greatest Movie Ever Sold.” If you have not seen this documentry, watch it. It’s about all the dirty shit companies do in regard to advertising and product placement. It’s really fascinating. It’s like 3 bucks on amazon instant video

  • I really want to finish the video, but the way Dr. Greger talks, it is so fast like lightning speed, also I am having difficulty pinpointing which part of the sentence is a pause or a period. He talks on and on and on. Like if I am watching an action movie, Dr Greger’s movie will be all fighting all the way, there is no stopping or talking. Hard to get through or pick the lesson of the movie.

  • We have slew of videos on the influences of industry. You can find them at https://nutritionfacts.org/topics/industry-influence. -NF Team

  • So I was wondering how to lose weight after i tried to eat a little less and exercise and it wasn’t working so well. I limited my consumption of sugar to about 25-50 grams a day for 2 months and i lost about 9 pounds! on top of that i even stppped going to the gym completely

  • No surprise here… money trumps health every time, unfortunately! We must all do our own study independently of food companies. The average person does not delve into the backstory most of the time, and is easily fooled by corporate motives. Coca Cola bought the Odwalla health food company years ago, and then promptly put up more than $700,000 to prevent a proposed California law requiring GMO disclosure on food labels (in direct opposition to the Odwalla company’s original health goals when it was founded). When I learned this, I stopped all Odwalla product consumption permanently when a health food company “sells-out” to big corporations that do not care about public health, I abandon that company. The same is now true of Kashi, originally formed in the name of health, but now owned by Kelloggs! And Kelloggs also put about three-quarters of a million dollars into the same GMO labeling attempt to keep California residents from knowing the truth about their food. No more Kashi products for me! It’s a matter of principle: how can a “health food” company work to prevent customers from knowing when questionable practices are being used in the products they sell? Keeping the shareholders rich is all they care about, not customer health and longevity!

  • 184,000 deaths worldwide! Wow that insane. I did a project in 2011 studying drug deaths and ALL illegal drug deaths worldwide is only are 200,000. No wonder they’re keeping this hush hush,.

  • I pretty much just assume all health studies are wrong, just like I assume all TYT shows will have a subtle anti-business narrative. I’m pretty sure Michelle Obama is still telling kids to eat “low-fat” and “whole grain,” both of which are terrible diet recommendations based on either bad science or wrong conclusions.

  • High fructose corn syrup is even more likely to turn into fat because fructose bypasses an important regulation step in the metabolic cycle and so the body has to do something with the fructose that keeps going through the Krebs cycle. If you aren’t actively burning Calories, the body will turn to fructose into fat and store it. If you’re going to drink something sweet, it’s better to drink something with real sugar than with high fructose corn syrup or some sweetener like that.

  • This is confusing because food studies change every year. There is always a new fad diet. Plus there is sugar in everything, even “healthy” food. Its hard to live without any carbs or fruit.

  • I wanted to start a diet on zero sugar, after a week it seems to become impossible because it made me realise that how much sugar all the food are sold everywhere, there is simply no escape from it.

  • that is simply funding bias…they will NEVER EVERRRRR want to fund a study that will cause harm to their shares so yeah bullshit mountain will pile up more bullshit

  • 50k to buy a study in your favor that gets cited for 5 decades? Must be the best investment ever fucking made. How many billions have they made since then? It always blows my mind how cheap it is for huge corporations to buy people.

  • Having corporations pay for research is a wonderful thing. It’s just that we don’t do it the right way anymore. The correct way is, take the money from the corporations in taxes, thank them, and then indirectly give the money to researchers whithout telling them where it came from. Some things legitimately need a bag man. This is like, say, you were a doctor, and someone in a position to pay you a great deal of money needed a clean physical, you’d say that they were the, “healthiest ever.”

  • Wow, so scientists can be bought off to lie about studies? I wonder if “climate scientists” could ever be bought off like that to lie??????

  • We’re at peak corruption. The news about governments, corporations, and the people running them is like an avalanche of treason and lies and backstabbing and the complete disregard for sustainability or the average citizen. We are openly being beat into submission by our own elected officials. Crazy.

  • Funny i was just discussing my diet with a guy yesterday, i’m on a keto diet (life style) really high fat, moderate protein low to no carbs. I start naming stuff i was eating and i get “non of that sounds good for you, you gonna get fat” yet i’ve went from 205 to 175. And fats are so good for you and so many people are still stuck on old info. (light, lowfat, fit) is the stuff you should stay away from. you essentially you want the Whole, raw, lowest ingredients version of things, because in most things the fat is where most of the nutrients lay so when its “lowfat” or “non-fat” you’re losing so much of whats good for you to where what you’re eating is nutrient deficient. Plus lot of these version of (low and non fat) things get compromised when other additive ingredients and fillers you really shouldn’t be ingesting. People who low and non-fat things tend to always be hungry and un-saitiated because they’re missing the fat to give that full filling. btw pay attention to the ingredient list more than whats on the front, for overall health just focus on eating things that dont have a long list of ingredients you cant pronounce.

  • Sugar is very very addictive, in the field of cigarettes. It’s bad for your bodies because it’s in almost everything we eat. Someone mentioned it’s just peoples fault for eating it, to some degree yes, but when your grocery store is 80 90% full products with high fructose corn syrup? That’s by design. Companies are subsidized to produce corn and make corn syrup so cheap. The sugar by itself is bad, let alone the disabilities and diseases linked to gmos in the last 20 years, including autism. Compare how much healthy food, and fruits and vegetables cost, to a box of cereal and a 2 liter bottle of soda? A lot of people have a choice to make, buy a smaller amount of healthy food, or a lot of unhealthy food, to fill your stomach. Like always, get money out of politics.

  • In the first seconds you’ve admitted that corporations are immoral entities. So why do we support them? They work against the natural law of freedom.

  • & Stuff like this information is why some people have trouble accepting science information because its been known for a long time that who pays for the ‘research’ the findings will come out how they want it.

  • We have to keep the population under control. Without killing babies like China used to (before the installation of KFC and McDonalds that boosted the CVD through the roof) our only way to keep people dying sooner than later is the food supply for the middle and upper classes and poisoning the water supply for the lower class as they cannot afford to purchase as much slow acting poisoned food. Without a food based early death program, I don’t know how we can control the population without killing babies. Our corporate masters work tirelessly to keep the population in check. As their methods are exposed in videos like this, I fear new methods of thinning the herd that are not voluntary in nature (like personally choosing to consume poisonous food like substances) will be used one day.

  • When I recently told my doctor that I had given up sugar,he looked concerned and replied…”But where will you get your energy from?”

  • Why do I always see a million vegans on YouTube but none in real life. News flash: no one is going to go vegan because some stranger on YouTube told them to.

  • The sugar industry is doing exactly what the tobacco industry did, same as the fuel industry when lead was recognized as harmful. Its called the ‘four dog defense’. Deny, confuse, downplay and finally they just tell us “well you chose to use it”.

  • Multiple Marlboro Men (at least 4) died of smoking-related illnesses:

    End corruption I agree.

  • Dr Greger, words don’t describe how much we all appreciate you. And we’re happy to donate and help out, where we can. You’re awesome. Fan from Australia.

  • I agree: ban food corporations from directly funding studies. If these companies are feeling so giving and charitable, they can donate to the university instead.

  • Y’all should try Whole Food’s “avocado vinaigrette” which is low in sodium and has no oil (even days whole foods diet approved on the label!) it’s so unbelievably good. I use it on everything. You should be able to find it in the produce isle but you can always ask an associate for help with finding it just in case.

  • See what happens when you lie, CBC. Everything you say is now scrutinized. I don’t believe this story on the account that it’s CBC. What’s the agenda? Tax sugar-based commodities?

  • This is hardly a revelation. Anyone who pays attention to what they’re told by their dentist, will be aware when sugar is added to one’s saliva, it has almost an acid effect to the enamel to one’s teeth. But they lie to regarding fluoride in toothpaste, for this has no benefit prevention of tooth decay. There are many countries that have banned the fluoridation of water supplies. This is far more interesting than the sugar debate.

  • This is seriously the first time in my life that i heard this. How stupid do you have to be to believe you don’t get fat from sugar?

  • I’m 52, and I’ve never thought that sugar was good for me. It’s always been known as junk food. Nobody is shocked to hear that it’s unhealthy.

  • My parents are still scared of buttery smooth scrambled eggs. I lost 40 pounds in just under 5 months when I added it to my diet, but they’re still terrified of fats. Well done, sugar bastards.

  • Without disease, the pharmaceutical industry will go bankrupt. They profit from selling drugs that do far more harm than healing. I had a blood problem and a chubby tummy. After cutting off sugar and reducing the carbs, my blood problem was gone, along with the chubby tummy.

  • Yes the all powerful sugar industry.. their product is so valuable it’s given away for free in restaurants. At least they don’t claim to donate all income to charity which actually is a charity run by themselves.

  • corn subsidies. corny syrup. corn in eevveerryytthhiinngg from building materials to the food you eat… but yea… sugar… lets shine the fucking spotlight on sugar… facepalm

  • You want to know how they slept at night? ON PILES OF MONEY!! MUAHAHAHAHA!! Wait, $49,000? Damn they sold their souls for a pittance. The Dude Abides.

  • It really pissed me off the lack of care this guy had for when the girl was speaking. He’s just waiting for her to finish what she’s saying and barely listening. Great topic and one I have an interest in but I couldn’t get past 3 minutes and 10 seconds because of him…

  • Hahah this is nothing new. Food lobbies continue to do this today (sugar, dairy, meat). All the top killers in the western world have powerful lobbies behind them promoting their products.

  • America also has some of the highest rates of animal product consumption. You think the meat and dairy industry doesn’t pay scientists to do “studies” to support their products?

  • I basically only eat organic and avoid anything that comes in a box, bottle, can or jar. It’s not so expensive, I feel healthy and my skin glows. Try it out for a month, you’ll feel alive, unless you are a zombie, you’d have to eat organic brains.

TEAMHASAN, HASANISBAE, HASAN IS ZADDY, HASAN IS MAN OF MY DREAMS GOALS, HASAN IS HUSBAND GOALS, HASAN IS
FATHER OF MY 7 KIDS GOALS, I LOVE HASAN

  • Multiple Marlboro Men (at least 4) died of smoking-related illnesses:

    http://www.latimes.com/nation/nationnow/la-na-nn-marlboro-men-20140127-story.html

Go vegan:)

  • I thought science was meant to be objective? Oh and by the way, fat is still worse than sugar for weight gain. Just because it was funded, doesn’t mean the opposite is true. Although they are both bad. Wholefood carbohydrates are the best thing for weight loss.

  • 50k to buy a study in your favor that gets cited for 5 decades? Must be the best investment ever fucking made. How many billions have they made since then? It always blows my mind how cheap it is for huge corporations to buy people.

  • I’m drinking a coke right now and I’m not overweight. Everyone knows soda is bad for you but it’s fine in moderation… Although to fair, I’m having a cavity filled soon. I’m sure soda played a.role in that.

  • I will say after eating healtier for over 3 months its almost impossible to buy anything healthy in supermarkets thats premade. Diet sodas and even products like Coke life uses splenda and cane sugar. Whats the point in that? Water and green tea is all I drink for a while.

  • Sugar itself is not dangerous, but people eat way too much of it so they end up in a serious caloric surplus. Sugar itself is not dangerous, but they add on very easily to lifestyle diseases.

  • & Stuff like this information is why some people have trouble accepting science information because its been known for a long time that who pays for the ‘research’ the findings will come out how they want it.

  • While this is nothing new i encourage anyone who doubts this to check out: Pure White and Deadly by John Yudkin is a must-read for those concerned
with how much sugar we consume every day. Sugar. It’s killing us. Why
do we eat so much of it? What are its hidden dangers? In 1972, when
British scientist John Yudkin first proved that sugar was bad for our
health, he was ignored by the majority of the medical profession and
    rubbished by the food industry.
It is great that people are finally seeing the culprit that sugar is. Using it sparingly as was practiced prior to the industrial revolution and colonialism certainly could help the entire western world.

  • We have increased our sugar consumption by 100% since 1982! All thanks to the sugar industry. Watch Sugar Coated on Netflix. Completely backs up this video and gives much more insight.

  • Went from 6 Cokes a day to 6 diet a day (for years). No weight change. Went from diet to water (for years). No weight change. Fat makes me fat. Sugar has no noticeable effect.

  • America the promise land of bigotry, double standards, unquenchable greed, ignorance,”family values” and perversion. An american doesnt have a lot to be proud of. Your country da shits.

  • I gym alot and eat super healthy and I can say without a doubt sugar that isn’t coming directly from fruit is the worst thing for your body there is absolutely 0 benefits for eating sugar it gives your body absolutely nothing

  • I almost always get free water at restaurants, and so do most of the people I am usually with. Can’t imagine drinking things like sodas all the time, it makes me sick thinking about it.

  • Sugar is the bigger problem, i cut sugar, no juice no soda pure water and work out 1 hour and 30 minutes for 6-7 months and lost over 50 pounds. Sugar is a big problem

  • I will say after eating healtier for over 3 months its almost impossible to buy anything healthy in supermarkets thats premade. Diet sodas and even products like Coke life uses splenda and cane sugar. Whats the point in that? Water and green tea is all I drink for a while.

  • Don’t forget that Coca Cola wanted to sell their drinks in 1930s Germany, which was outlawed. So they started Fanta to sell to the Nazis.

  • This is precisely why it is so important to vote for a third party. Because if we continue to only vote for the lesser evil the two parties will have a great deal of leeway to be evil and perpetuate money in politics. And with money in politics, such disastrous misinformation to the public will probably continue for a very very long time.

  • i wouldn’t believe in anything (co-)funded by the Cocola-Cola rn Global Energy Balance Network, but the problem is, you don’t always know, if you just read an article on such studies.

  • While this is nothing new i encourage anyone who doubts this to check out: Pure White and Deadly by John Yudkin is a must-read for those concerned

  • So, even sugar is more dangerous than Cannabis…and still legal, because you cant make 25000 renewable, sustainable products out of sugarcane…

  • In the first seconds you’ve admitted that corporations are immoral entities. So why do we support them? They work against the natural law of freedom.

  • Hahah this is nothing new. Food lobbies continue to do this today (sugar, dairy, meat). All the top killers in the western world have powerful lobbies behind them promoting their products.

  • Wow, so scientists can be bought off to lie about studies? I wonder if “climate scientists” could ever be bought off like that to lie??????

  • So I was wondering how to lose weight after i tried to eat a little less and exercise and it wasn’t working so well. I limited my consumption of sugar to about 25-50 grams a day for 2 months and i lost about 9 pounds! on top of that i even stppped going to the gym completely

  • When I recently told my doctor that I had given up sugar,he looked concerned and replied…”But where will you get your energy from?”
