The Power of Nitrates Gym Performance & Muscle Enhancement A few years ago, several new ingredients hit the market that would become the latest fad for bodybuilders chasing the pump. Arginine (ARG) was the first true?pump? ingredient that claimed to increase plasma nitric oxide (NO) levels which would lead to increased vasodilation and massive pumps in the gym. Strictly, it’s not the nitrate that’s the performance enhancer but a simpler molecule nitrate is converted into inside the body – first nitrite, and then nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is the potent. Another theory is that the extra NO produced in the body when nitrate is consumed stimulates the production of muscle mitochondria.

The mitochondria can be considered as the ‘energy factories’ in muscle cells and greater numbers of mitochondria would enable more efficient oxygen metabolism. Nitrates are reliable and effective, unlike the supplements in previous nitric oxide boosters, like L-arginine and L-citrulline. Due to these reasons, nitrates are the next generation of nitric oxide boosters. Preliminary in vitro evidence suggests nitric oxide boosters may even play a role in promoting muscle growth.

Nitric acid is a potent vasodilator that can increase blood flow and the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to skeletal muscle. Ingested nitrate might also enhance performance by dilating blood vessels in exercising muscle when oxygen levels decline, thereby increasing oxygen and nutrient delivery, reducing the oxygen cost of submaximal exercise, attenuating the adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-creatine phosphate energy system’s cost associated with skeletal muscle force. Dietary nitrate (NO 3−) supplementation has been evidenced to induce an ergogenic effect in endurance and sprint-type exercise, which may be underpinned by enhanced muscle contractility and perfusion, particularly in type II muscle fibers.

Predator Nutrition Potassium Nitrate Review Nitrates are a hugely popular ingredient these days and iForce Nutrition Potassium Nitrate capitalises on the trend for nitrate supplements by bonding nitrates to potassium, which can lead to not only increased performance and greater endurance but also better muscle defintion and vascularity. The authors concluded that dietary nitrate reduces during maximal exercise using a large active muscle mass but with a trend towards improved performance due to enhanced muscle energetic function. But using performance-enhancing drugs (doping) has risks. Take the time to learn about the potential benefits, the health risks and the many unknowns regarding so-called performance-enhancing drugs such as anabolic steroids, androstenedione, human growth.

Nitrate supplementation effectively enhances exercise performance in untrained or moderately trained subjects, but the limited data indicate that this affect is not seen in endurance-trained athletes.

As noted, most exerciseȬrelated studies have focused on whether arginine supplementation increases anabolic hormones and/or promotes increases in nitric oxide production, thereby enhancing blood flow and delivery of nutrients.

Recreational athletes seem to get the biggest bang for their buck with dietary nitrates, as elite athletes appear less responsive to nitrate supplementation protocols.

Questions still remain regarding its efficacy in highly trained athletes [25] and the potential negative effects of chronic use [26], though nitrate supplementation still represents a potential tool to enhance recovery.

Supplementation with L-arginine is claimed to promote vasodilatation by increasing NO production in the active muscle during exercise, improving muscular strength, power, and recovery through increased substrate utilization and metabolite removal, such as lactate and ammonia [83].

This is a positive dietary strategy, particularly for elite-level athletes who seem to have a harder time getting performance gains from a single dose of preevent nitrates (Maughan et al. 2018).

  • Does Burke know the research based on the philosophy of the Polish doctor from the high-fat diet Jan Kwaśniewski: low vegetables, nuts, fiber, vegetable oils, kcal. A lot of calories, saturated animal fat, moderate amount of protein 10-15% of calories. Carbohydrates from potatoes, flour (starch), dairy products, simple sugars in the amount of 15-18% kcal with e.g. 6000kcal? https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=1FbUvLvexLnNfISPz2eaQkpIxZxW9c3Ke

  • Does Penlargerem System really help to get permanent enlargement with natural ways? We’ve learn a lot of good stuff about this popular male enhancement.

  • I think you are a little confused between arginine and the effects of nitrous oxide. Two different things. Nitrous oxide does boost blood flow and also boosts hgh. It also reduces muscle fatigue and increases output. L-Citruline increases Nitrous oxide via the arginine pathway bypassing the digestive system.

  • I started getting cluster headaches after supplementing with beet juice & ground flax seed (both high in NO). Could this be a cause? I’ve never had this kind of headache before. Thank you for the video.
