So what’s the truth about smoothies and their impact on weight loss? If you’re not careful, smoothies can actually promote weight gain rather than weight loss. In order to be an effective part of your weight-loss plan, you’ll need to pay careful attention to ingredient selection, portions and strategic placement of smoothies into your daily meal structure. So what’s the truth about smoothies and their impact on weight loss?

If you’re not careful, they can actually promote weight gain rather than weight loss. Here’s what you should know to have smoothies be an effective part of your weight-loss. Blended fruit is the most basic ingredient in a smoothie. Unlike in a juice, a smoothie can contain the entire fruit including the skin and seeds.

Fruit is simply cut up and blended until it’s a liquid, instead of having its liquid extracted, as is the case with juice. But the smoothie has much more potential than just the addition of fruit. Smoothies are refreshing and delicious, especially during the heat of Summer.

But, unfortunately, like anything else, many smoothies are made to be ultra fattening, contain high doses of sugar, or some combination of the two. To start the caloric content is really not that bad if you have one as a snack or a meal replacement, but the inevitable downfall of smoothies is the sugar and carbohydrates. Booster Juice says on their website smoothies can contain up. The Truth About Smoothies Just hearing the word “smoothie” conjures up images of thin, fit health enthusiasts.

You know the ones: They’re in their 40’s but look about 25, have glowing complexions, and carry a yoga mat everywhere they go. That might be your mental image, but are smoothies really all they’re cracked up to be?Another thing to remember is that, consumed to excess, smoothies are not good for the teeth. Fruit juices are acidic and can damage tooth enamel, causing dental erosion. Dentists are.

If it’s something you’ll drink, like a juice or fruit smoothie, the nutritional data for fruit counts towards the total SmartPoints value. If it’s something you’ll eat, like a salsa, sauce, stew or soup, most fresh fruits and vegetables have a 0 SmartPoints value. Smoothies do not require any chewing, so you eat more calories and sugar than you realise.

Additionally, the natural fibres have mostly disappeared from the fruit. How can you prepare healthy smoothies? When you prepare a smoothie, try to use not more than 100 grams of fruit per person to limit the amount of sugars. When people talk about green smoothies, they don’t mean a smoothie with food coloring in it for St.

Patrick’s Day. A green smoothie is a smoothie that is blended with fresh leafy green vegetables, such as collard greens, kale, rainbow or Swiss chard or spinach. Some people also use fresh green herbs such as mint or parsley in their green smoothies.

List of related literature:

By blending fresh or frozen fruit with juice, dairy products like milk or yogurt, protein powders, and nut milks—or sometimes justice, if one were watching her waistline—smoothies continue to serve as a liquid breakfast, available at any of the thousands of juice and smoothie bars that have opened since the 1970s.

Whole smoothies include the fibrous pulp, which contains nutrients and reins in the sugar, allowing it to be digested slowly over time instead of all at once and thereby avoiding spikes in blood sugar that can lead to cravings for more sugar.

To make matters worse, people often think of smoothies like they do a typical drink and eat more food with them, bumping their total number of calories for that particular meal way up.

Blending helps with that process, sure, but the action of juicing liberates the nutrition from the cellulose in the pulp, and by drinking the juice, you send those nutrients directly to the cells of the body, whereas you still have to digest the smoothie in order to do that.

  • Why does anyone need a smoothie? Lol, you eat a Meal and have veg with it, throughout the day snack on fruit, its not even a diet. You don’t need to. Diet. Really. Isn’t hard

  • Guys if you happen to read this, this doesn’t mean smoothie are bad for you, it just means you’re missing out on possible nutrients you could be getting, so drink that smoothie before you workout or something, but eat something else as well later

  • First study basic biology then open your mouth spouting bullshit at an expert! Your mouth cannot dissolve FIBERS YOU DUMB FUCKS! Amylase doesn’t dissolve cellulose! Fucking idiots in the comment section!

  • But i cant eat breakfast, i litterely cant, i dont know why, i tried once but i just could take a couple of bites and thats it, so for a long time i didnt eat breakfast, but thats bad for you so i started drinking a bananna smothie every morning, and i make The smothie for 2 days, i pour it in a jar, so if dont get satisfied i pour in more. So what should i Do?

  • Thank you so much for such invaluable information. I have hashimotos an auto immune and i am suffering with brain fogs, drowsiness, memory loss etc. I have recently cut out soy, milk, gluten, sugars and dairy and trying to eat better. Im trying to have my green smooties daily. Do you have any advice on what i can eat to improve my health with this condition? I feel like crap all the time.✋✋

  • Understand the issues with fibre, but what about the nutritional benefits? Eating 2-3 pieces of fruit even if they are juiced must have some major health benefits?

  • Digesting fruit and veg is healthier then not digesting fruit and veg, “aren’t as healthy as you think” would suggest you know how healthy I think they are.

  • How can I heal my leaky gut? Have you heard about the Low FODMAP diet? My GI doctor & Dietitian have me on that because my stomach is sensitive to sugars, soy, wheat, citrus, whey, dairy, stevia and many more. Please help me???

  • I read lots of good reviews on the internet about how exactly Custokebon Secrets can help you lost lots of weight. Has anybody tried using this popular lose weight secrets?

  • Soooo much to learn. Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to share these supreme information.
What can I replace a banana with in my green smoothie? I enjoy eating bananas on their own but I’m unable to add them to smoothies without having a gag reflex.
I have tried this for many years, that banana taste mixed with fluids and other veggies makes me feel so unpleasant.

  • this is why people dont eat healthy because everything they do is wrong. would u rather someone eat a fruit smoothie or a damn dairy cake with cream cheese icing?? gosh

  • This guy only has a point if he swallows his apples whole, or shoves sticks of celery down his throat in one piece. If just a second of thought was put into this, it would have become obvious that this video is obsolete.

  • “People add ice cream to it” Uhhh no idiot. that would be a milkshake. furthermore, what is the smoothie for? if its a desert for someone and they add icecream and fruit then who cares. Not everyone is drinking smoothies to try and get ripped on instagram. some people just like them for fucks sake.

  • “Everyone wants to take smoothie now!!!”… of course a lot wants to go healthy…..now that most people are trying their best to have a healthy lifestyle… a negative inquiry like this one will appear and discourages people from trying to be healthy…… I’d rather go with my fruits and vegetable smoothies than my old lifestyle which are going to restos and eating this all kind of meat which is bad for my health….

    2015 US Dietary Guidelines Critique

    http://www.diagnosisdiet.com/2015-dietary-guidelines-critique/

The DGAC apparently wasn’t aware that the FDA published a report announcing:

“…evidence is strong that there is not a relationship between dietary fiber and colorectal cancer.”1)
You can’t blame the DGAC for not having seen this report yet; after all it was only issued FIFTEEN YEARS AGO.2)
The committee also doesn’t mention the excellent studies conducted in recent years demonstrating that fiber is not helpful for digestive problems, and can even worsen digestive problems. A 2007 review of fiber and overall digestive health concluded:

“A strong case cannot be made for a protective effect of dietary fiber against colorectal polyp or cancer. Neither has fiber been found to be useful in chronic constipation and irritable bowel syndrome. It is also not useful in the treatment of perianal conditions. The fiber deficit-diverticulosis theory should also be challenged.” 3)
A clinical study conducted in 2012 found:

“Idiopathic constipation and its associated symptoms can be effectively reduced by stopping or even lowering the intake of dietary fiber.”4)
    A 2013 review stated:

“Even when used judiciously, fiber can exacerbate abdominal distension, flatulence, constipation, and diarrhea.” 5)

  • Is yogurt a better base then Juice… or all natural drinks? I work in a warehouse, any wear between 11-13 hours. I eat threw out the day, whatever I can find. Gaining weight like crazy. I thought maybe. If I make smoothies, one morning and one for the afternoon. Then just eat a better lunch and dinner… maybe I’ll stop ALWAYS being the fattest guy in the room. Probably not tho. Sorry, your video was great!

  • smoothies are not safe even if we dont use ice cream…we shouldn’t add acidic and sub acidic fruits with milk and also citrus fruits with banana… because there digestion time is different..it will cause you bloating…..if i am right reply or hit a like…

  • Absolutely worst thing that I have ever heard. What’s the difference between blending and chewing? Blending dissolves the food more and food also gets dissolved by the action of saliva on chewed food. Absolutely useless advise. Infact, smoothies are good for our digestive system as it doesn’t need to work that hard.

  • I find that smoothies just ferment in my gut if I add any fat or protein or whole grain (like oats). If it’s just fruit and vegetables my body can digest it better.

  • Unfortunately I’m actually adding a little fruit to the blender to make my unflavored protein powder palatable, eating the fruit is not my purpose. But I guess I could use less.

  • My protein shake is oatmeal ‍♀️ and half banana It keeps me full all the day even half of the next day because I do intermittent fasting I don’t feel hunger at the same time Losing weight but no matter what whenever I had oatmeal i wake up early at 7:00am and drink 2 glass of water

  • Whenever I eat more I lose weight ‍♀️ whenever I eat less I gain weight idk why but I love it I eat whatever I want and I’m on weight loss journey I lose 2 pounds in a week

  • I just use plain water in my smoothie I use to put protein powder in my smoothies but it upset my stomach so for protein I just put Greek yogurt in my smoothies and it is really delicious and sometimes my family will try a little bit of my smoothie there love it ❤ I love your video’s there are really helpful and I want to thank you Autumn ❤

  • Thank you so much. I was wondering were to get accurate information on how to make optimally healthy smoothies for my three years old son. Please can I use celery n carrots as this isn’t a green leaf to make the smoothie?

  • You have great stuffs But! Your video are always too long..too much talk..can pass this info without making it too lonnnnng. Thank u.

  • Great video thank you! I’ve been on this for a couple weeks now and indeed, legumes and veggies are not needed!
Have you ever tried with homemade iced tea or coffee instead of water? Also what is the best way to have quality water? Thank you again!

  • I actually love the fast editing and cutting out any slow parts. Almost every body edits like this nowadays and for a reason, people like it! if you didn’t I wouldn’t have watched the whole video.

  • People just stop eating and drinking altogether. I saved alot of money and dropped my weight down so far I was able to fit into a very small and cramped coffin. And there I lay to this day. Dead.

  • My advice as an athlete:

Adjust the ingredients/macros (carbs, protein, and fats) to YOUR OWN dietary plan.
=> I’m an athlete and fuel my body with lots of carbs and protein. A pre-workout smoothie can have lots of short-chain carbs (sugar) to boost performance. Generally, long-chained carbs (oatmeal, rice, quinoa, pasta) are preferable throughout the day and a few carefully selected fat sources. Others found a low-carb diet to work well for them. Adjust your food intake to what works best FOR YOUR own BODY and lifestyle. Do not simply copy what others says works for them.

If you want to loose weight it all boils down to a single factor: the caloric deficit (independent of energy source). That’s all. You could even consume sugar exclusively and loose weight given you have a caloric deficit. Really no rocket science here:)
Healthy energy sources are important for other reasons than weight loss but that’s another topic.

    Be healthy and happy,
    Matt

  • Guess I haven’t tried the right smoothies, tried making one and felt like I was trying to choke down a shake made from grass clippings…it was awful

  • Yeah yeah yeah. Now even smoothies are bad. No one cares. I’ll make smoothies and throw in a bit of raw oats in it to add fiber. Happy now?

  • Though do acidic fruits like oranges, grapefruits or pineapple raise your level of cortisol too if eaten as a whole?

Btw thank you so much for always giving a scientific explanation behind every tip!

  • Despite this, smoothies are still way healthier than soda, especially if you did not throw in additional sweeteners like some do. Maybe I’ll just take vegetable smoothies instead? It’s really hard to consume several cups of greens in one meal

  • Is this a joke? First, the “doctor” doesn’t seem to know the difference between juicing and blending, second he seems to be confusing smoothies with milkshakes lol.

  • Americans you guys have the most corrupt press, worse than North Korea because at least NK is under no illusions. This was probably paid for by big pharma, totally misleading. My grandmother lived until 102 without ever taking medication because she ate healthy foods, grains, milk, veg, little meat. A smoothie is just blended vegetables, if you want to add crazy things to it it doesn’t make all smoothies bad. This morning I had celery, banana, blueberry, strawberry and peanut butter smoothie and I’m very full, can’t imagine eating again until lunch so no it also doesn’t mean you’re hungrier. Even if you eat again, at least you had your veg and fruit for the day, why is that a negative?

  • I started off years ago just doing the old fashioned banana and frozen strawberries, and orange juice. I add a little orange juice. And I went through a phase when I added protein. But lately I have added baby spinach and try different things.

  • This is a great video we often unconsciously overdue it with healthy food such as fruits and veggies so this is interesting and an eye opener and I’m the one you mentioned who will find a flavor I love and stick to it.

  • Your welcome-

1Don’t use fruit juice base, instead use an unsweetened nut milk base.

2Don’t use too much protein, use one serving recommendation on a good quality protein.

3Don’t add Raw kale to your smoothies. It causes bloating and digestion issues. (if you want to use kale in your smoothies then steam and freeze for later)

4Fats are important and should be included in your smoothie.

5While you should include some fruit, too much can cause increased insulin.

6Have varieties! Alternate fats, proteins, fibers and more.

7Include spices in your smoothie. Cinnamon can reduce insulin and there are many spices that are anti-inflammatory.

8Make sure your nut butters don’t have extra ingredients like sugar.

9Make sure you are getting unsweetened nut milks.

10You don’t need to keep smoothies low calorie. Having a good balanced smoothie can limit snacking throughout the day.

  • You completely rock!! I was completely mind blowing because everything you said I was doing it! No wonder why I gained more weight but now I need desperate help… what would you recommend to don’t gain weight during pregnancy? Or which smoothies should I take to lose weight since my BMI it’s super high! I’m obese!

  • Whenever I eat more I lose weight ‍♀️ whenever I eat less I gain weight idk why but I love it I eat whatever I want and I’m on weight loss journey I lose 2 pounds in a week

  • Just made a smoothie, strawberries, 1/2 banana, 2 tablespoons Greek yogurt, spring water and ice, not sure if it was bad but it was delicious lol

  • if you just put in fruit and milk then there is literally no difference between smoothies and eating that stuff seperately. just put in strawberries, bananas and milk and its very healthy

  • drinking smoothies can effect digestive system as metabolism slows down cuz you drink smoothie and the first phase of digestion that should be started in the mouth itself by adding on saliva doesn’t happens…. and moreover it can make one person stomach ache cuz of extra production of acid to make the fiber’s carbohydrate break that should have been the work of saliva instead…

  • Is using coconut water a “no go” in smoothies?? I’m not much of a breakfast eater and I LOVE smoothies, but I just don’t like the taste milks bring to them, so trying to find some alternatives without using fruit juices

  • Guys if you happen to read this, this doesn’t mean smoothie are bad for you, it just means you’re missing out on possible nutrients you could be getting, so drink that smoothie before you workout or something, but eat something else as well later

  • I hate when someone posts something like this and it’s out of context. Juicing and Blending are two different things. Blending keeps the fiber in whatever you blended and it breaks it down so your body can absorb minerals and nutrients better. Juicing… you lose the fiber.

  • In my smoothie I put almond milk, one banana, and a couple blueberries. Is this fine? Also I think I’m going to start adding spinach or black chia seeds

  • Wait, they got the definition of smoothie wrong. Smoothies are just mostly fruit, sometimes with ice or silk milk but ice cream!? That’s a milkshake idiot, I’m starting to get mad at how some people mix up smoothies and milkshakes

  • Nice tips.. but i would suggest that avoid pushing your face on the camera.. it felt like anytime you were going to pop out of my screen..

  • Can’t drink smoothes myself, otherwise I’d be drinking them every day. Tried them once and almost died. Food allergies (too many to count).

  • This is a gold mine…I am so grateful for dis information. It’s ny 4th day of 40days green smoothie diet so the video came quit on time. I am already feeling great doing this for just 4 days so i am sure dat after 40days, there will be a great renewal. Nature is beautiful n too kind to humanity.

  • LOL what a moron! I blend spinach, blueberries, carrot juice, water and plain yogurt. Tell me how this is NOT healthy?? Seriously, who let this guy be a doctor or even on air?

  • Amber, such good info. But just some feedback as a viewer: Watching your videos is like us sitting in the kitchen across the counter from each other. It’s such a great conversation but if someone had this many hand movements and jerky hair motions and so many fast editing type visuals, it’s disorienting. I wish these videos were smoother or contained more still videos just to give our eyes a break. I subscribed and appreciate you sharing such great expertise!

  • Thanks for the vid. It is easy to follow. Can one live predominantly or wholly on smoothies that will still be overall beneficial for health, build muscle, loose weight, get lean and above all convenience.

  • Another way smoothies are better than chewing: when you blend foods up, you can fit more in a cup, and you can I corporate super foods like spinach. Think about this: if you blended a green smoothie you would probably drink it all, but if you sat down and ate all that food, you wouldn’t get through half of it.

  • The upside of smoothies is it’s an easy way of eating fruit and veg in high quantities, so if you’re worried about your health, I wouldn’t be to concerned with smoothies. As long as it’s just fruit and maybe water and/or some spices, it’s healthy

  • More people need to see this. I made my own smoothie regimen for added raw foods intake because I literally don’t have time to eat as much as I should. I have to eat very slowly to avoid upsetting my stomach. People lose weight because the raw foods in smoothies provide some regularity, if you know what I mean.

  • I am glad that someone researching Green Smoothies would see this…it is such an obvious joke given by a man ignorant on the subject. Green Smoothies are the Holy Grail of food.

  • Now is this what you call “ fake news “. Is that even a real doctor? I can’t imagine taking any health advice from this man.
Green smoothies is a great way to help the body absorb nutrients more effectively and more efficiently than if you had to chew it. This information is absolutely false.

  • See I disagree I think smoothies are one of the best thing you can have I always just have frozen fruit and blend with water and I will have that up to two or three in a cup and my opinion but I think is one of the best ways to get all the goodness in to you and especially if you want to get more fruit in to you or if you have kids it is fun and easy and and lovely to have on a winter or summer day and you can also have vegetables in it and if you have a busy life and not being able to cook up from scratch all the time and you don’t always have to put vegetables in but you can if you want to and you have can have whatever you want in there

  • I make my protein shakes after I work out a scoop of whey 24g of protein a scoop of PB2 a whole medium banana milk and a handful of almonds good balance of protein carb and fats for me k

  • Smoothies are best thing on this planet. You ever ask someone “hey you want a smoothie and they say “hell no i dont want no smoothie

  • Thanks for the vid. It is easy to follow. Can one live predominantly or wholly on smoothies that will still be overall beneficial for health, build muscle, loose weight, get lean and above all convenience.

  • Autumn! I love all your info. Question: what protein powder do you recommend? Im not vegan, just wondering which you think is all around highest quality for your IF lifestyle? Also, does ACV sipper after smoothie mess up not eating between meals?

  • So if there’s just almond milk, and fruits like papaya, raspberries, bananas and blueberries in the smoothie that’s not healthy neither?

  • Doctors shouldn’t give nutrition advice because they are taught on average less than 6 hours of nutrition knowledge in medical school

  • Yea smoothies don’t all consist of apples.. smoothies are for nutrition; not to be consumed until you can’t take anymore, fatass..

  • No offense to this man what he said is absolutely helpful but no one is going to stop making smoothies because of this, it is sad but true

  • Is it better to use chia seeds or oats in our smoothies? I know there is more carbohydrates in oats, but there is still no sugar in it. In one of her video she said something about oats but I can’t find it no more. I really want to be careful with my insulin going to high.

  • Is using coconut water a “no go” in smoothies?? I’m not much of a breakfast eater and I LOVE smoothies, but I just don’t like the taste milks bring to them, so trying to find some alternatives without using fruit juices

  • Hello.I just found you and thank you for the information you provide. I am however searching, desperately searching for information o gaining weight in a very healthy manner. It seems almost impossible to find such information. My Dr. actually gave me medication to increase my apetite.I do have an appetite.I promptly stopped taking this medication ☺ That is by far the very last thing I want in my body, more medication.Believe it or not my friends, being underweight can make one feel as self conscious and equally as badly as those feel that struggle greatly to lose weight.
I would be so very grateful to begin to see information to address this issue in a healthy manner.I am unable to workout as I once did due to 11 spinal surgeries however I still do some of the exercises Im safely able to do.I do miss the muscle mass I once had and it did, most definitely add to my weight. If at all possible any information you can provide I would be most appreciative.
I did learn much from this video as you are and seem quite knowledgable.Im actually very surprised I wrote ☺
I thank you for your time and consideration in someday making a video addressing this issue as well.Until then, you have a new subscriber ☺
    Wishing everyone well

  • I am glad that someone researching Green Smoothies would see this…it is such an obvious joke given by a man ignorant on the subject. Green Smoothies are the Holy Grail of food.

  • Thank you for this wonderful information. I am currently nauseated by these green smoothies currently. The spinach doesn’t cut it for me. I almost threw it up today. Kale is out of season. The smell of cabbage and cauliflower blended is offensive to me. What can help please.
Also what’s your take on drinking or eating only these greens for a long period of them in a bid to heal auto immune illness

  • Your walking to fast! I can’t keep up!! Ok, I’ve been sick for 12 yrs, just found a Doc that figured it out. I figured smooting, juicing would really help being I doing have an appetite, and I can’t stand long. So I think i’m picking you, but yer going so fast!

  • Idk i was a heavy drinker started to blend my fruits with water everyday and added superfood green powder a few weeks later i saw a big difference in my weight and health

  • R u kidding me, smoothies r actually very healthy and convenient. And yes, when the fruit is broken down it loses some properties which help protect the lining of the digestive system. But, people eat normal fruits, so they do get those nutrients. AND u do put two bananas and some strawberries in the smoothie, but that is not a lot. U eat the same amount of fruit when having a fruit platter. And I have yet to come by a single person who puts ice cream in their smoothies, that’s a MILKSHAKE DUDE. And when making smoothies u don’t put a shelf full of apples, that is juice. And for ppl who understand health, they put vegetables and greens in their juices, which ik juicing removes fiver and important nutrients, but there still is a lot of nutrients left. So no, smoothies aren’t bad for you, they r rlly good.

  • Nice tips.. but i would suggest that avoid pushing your face on the camera.. it felt like anytime you were going to pop out of my screen..

  • Wait, they got the definition of smoothie wrong. Smoothies are just mostly fruit, sometimes with ice or silk milk but ice cream!? That’s a milkshake idiot, I’m starting to get mad at how some people mix up smoothies and milkshakes

  • I make 2 portions ( me and mom) 2 glass milk with 4 tbsp chia seeds in the evening and in morning I blend 1/3 frozen banana + 5 frozen strawberries + 5 pecan nuts + 1/3 tsp spirulina. I used to put vanilla and stevia but now I think this is sweet enought as I reduced sugar intake:)

  • This guy only has a point if he swallows his apples whole, or shoves sticks of celery down his throat in one piece. If just a second of thought was put into this, it would have become obvious that this video is obsolete.

  • I don’t see a clear point of this talk. What is the difference between chewing then swallowing and blending then swallowing? Did he mean blending break fruit entirely while chewing break them not entirely? If so then just blend fruit with low speed and drink a little raw smoothies. Problem solved?

  • According to this sugar expert we will have to ingest full whole apple and shove bags of spinach down our throat. This will definitely gives us the benefit of the fiber. Good advise

  • i made a machta smothie and tasted SOOOO DISGUSTING I ALMOST THREW UP, it was as bad as drinking apple cider vinegar with water. yuck. but! i added some pineapples mangoes and a red apple also a banana and tastes delicioussss i added some almond milk too. so yeah that improve it. i got a new blender and im gonna use it everyday 1 in morning 1 at night

  • hllo mam,
i have an question regarding drinking water. is drinking water from copper bottle on a daily basis is good or not. please brief.

  • Love your tips and advice! Studying nutrition as well and I’m glad to see I’m doing it right. I’m doing smoothie videos for my channel: https://youtu.be/IlU4XYEmSIY

  • Is there any credibility to those saying blending is not as healthy as eating the vegetables or fruits? We know juicing is definitely not as healthy, firstly fibre is missing. But blending?

  • Love your videos thanks for sharing. NUTS. I was enjoying snacking on my walnuts directly from the shell and adding them to my smoothie until I came across videos that says we should SOAK nuts before consuming. I like things simple and soaking before consuming isn’t simple. My nuts are sitting there unused for months. Would love to hear your feedback, thanks.

  • Now is this what you call “ fake news “. Is that even a real doctor? I can’t imagine taking any health advice from this man.
Green smoothies is a great way to help the body absorb nutrients more effectively and more efficiently than if you had to chew it. This information is absolutely false.

  • Why does anyone need a smoothie? Lol, you eat a Meal and have veg with it, throughout the day snack on fruit, its not even a diet. You don’t need to. Diet. Really. Isn’t hard

  • You completely rock!! I was completely mind blowing because everything you said I was doing it! No wonder why I gained more weight but now I need desperate help… what would you recommend to don’t gain weight during pregnancy? Or which smoothies should I take to lose weight since my BMI it’s super high! I’m obese!

  • No offense to this man what he said is absolutely helpful but no one is going to stop making smoothies because of this, it is sad but true

  • LOL what a moron! I blend spinach, blueberries, carrot juice, water and plain yogurt. Tell me how this is NOT healthy?? Seriously, who let this guy be a doctor or even on air?

  • “Everyone wants to take smoothie now!!!”… of course a lot wants to go healthy…..now that most people are trying their best to have a healthy lifestyle… a negative inquiry like this one will appear and discourages people from trying to be healthy…… I’d rather go with my fruits and vegetable smoothies than my old lifestyle which are going to restos and eating this all kind of meat which is bad for my health….

  • kind of annoying that they have to have music in the background just to talk about smoothies… not everyone likes this kind of music

  • The thing I love about this video, aside from the mix up between blending and juicing, and smoothies and milkshakes, is that if a person is putting ice cream into their smoothie, for a “healthy meal”, then that person is definitely the type to drink a whole blender full.

But, if they’re hungry for more sweets in an hour, that’s not the smoothie’s fault, that’s their Type 2 Diabetes’ fault.

  • I actually love the fast editing and cutting out any slow parts. Almost every body edits like this nowadays and for a reason, people like it! if you didn’t I wouldn’t have watched the whole video.

  • This is awesome!!! Thank you so much. Smoothies have been the easiest (and tastiest) way for me to change up my diet and take steps towards being healthier. This video was super informative and helpful. I’m going to check out some of your other vids!

  • What exactly is Custokebon Secrets? How does this thing really work? I notice many people keep on talking about this popular fat burn method.

  • Understand the issues with fibre, but what about the nutritional benefits? Eating 2-3 pieces of fruit even if they are juiced must have some major health benefits?

  • I think that you are 100% right. However, I fell that perhaps what they are talking about is bottled/store bought juices and smothies which in my opinion, unless they are fortified, they are empty calories. Also, unfortunately a large majority of people has close to no idea what 5 a day actually means. It is not something that has been clearly explained to people and you only find out by investigating it yourself online. No wonder that you will find bottles of ketchup in stores labeled with “1 of your 5 a day”. I am happy that you brought up this obsession of the NHS with teeth. Sometimes when I read their website I feel as if they are far more concerned with teeth health (which is nevertheless important) than general health risks that might actually lead to serious illnesses or even death. I don’t want to sound morbid but why in a society where over 60% of population is obese the NHS’ s main concern is tooth decay??? “Oh, careful when you eat those dried apricots because they will kill your teeth! But please eat those fried eggs with bacon and sausages and you will have a nice start of the day!” Seriously?

  • Can we add the stems of greens to the smoothies? Also if I don’t get fresh wheat grass or moringa leaves, can I use the powdered form available off the shelf?

  • Yeah yeah yeah. Now even smoothies are bad. No one cares. I’ll make smoothies and throw in a bit of raw oats in it to add fiber. Happy now?

  • Is this a joke? First, the “doctor” doesn’t seem to know the difference between juicing and blending, second he seems to be confusing smoothies with milkshakes lol.

  • This is a great video we often unconsciously overdue it with healthy food such as fruits and veggies so this is interesting and an eye opener and I’m the one you mentioned who will find a flavor I love and stick to it.

  • I drink pure fruit smoothies everyday and not only are they healthy but packed with nutrients that nourish your body. I get what they are saying though about like smoothies you get at the mall they use syrups in there’s, but if you make them at home you now exactly what you are consuming.

  • So vague. This video is ridiculous. Bad advice in other words. Big difference between blending and juicing. Blending keeps the necessary fiber to control blood sugar. Stick to whole ripe fruit and loads of greens (blended) and it’s an extremely healthy meal. (If your going to post information, make sure it’s scientifically correct)

  • smoothies are not safe even if we dont use ice cream…we shouldn’t add acidic and sub acidic fruits with milk and also citrus fruits with banana… because there digestion time is different..it will cause you bloating…..if i am right reply or hit a like…

  • oh I never used juice I user a tea LOL I use 2% milk and water. I shake in cinnamon and ginger powder stevia. if I do fruits it’s just 2 strawberry 2 pieces banana and 3 blueberries not a lot.. frozen fruit or few peices. ice I use almond butter… or hazelnut. almond coco spread

  • I don’t see a clear point of this talk. What is the difference between chewing then swallowing and blending then swallowing? Did he mean blending break fruit entirely while chewing break them not entirely? If so then just blend fruit with low speed and drink a little raw smoothies. Problem solved?

  • Despite this, smoothies are still way healthier than soda, especially if you did not throw in additional sweeteners like some do. Maybe I’ll just take vegetable smoothies instead? It’s really hard to consume several cups of greens in one meal

  • Getting into this diet was so easy and the results were so fast. After only 1 week on the Smoothie Diet I weighed myself and realized I had lost 5 pounds!

    https://tinyurl.com/y56yzg9p

  • I make smoothies everyday. I used to bodybuild and only eat meat, chicken, rice and salat. But after getting chronic pain and stop training I now need smoothies and fruits to heal

  • Love your tips and advice! Studying nutrition as well and I’m glad to see I’m doing it right. I’m doing smoothie videos for my channel: https://youtu.be/IlU4XYEmSIY

  • Hi thank you for putting these information out. Very helpful. When you mentioned adding a whole fruit like orange, do I need to squeeze the juice out first?

  • What exactly is Custokebon Secrets? How does this thing really work? I notice many people keep on talking about this popular fat burn method.

  • more beer than smoothies

Yeh I think they’re really aiming that at people who just have tons of fruit smoothies all the time, with no vegetables or anything added and then think of that as fulfilling their 5 a day. But Yeh they don’t really describe it very well. And should say that a smoothie of kale, carrot and ginger is obviously a different thing.

  • Thanks for the video! It was interesting to listen to your thoughts on protein in smoothies. It would be awesome if you can do a video on what is the right amount of protein we should have in a day. There is a lot of mixed research I have found on that subject. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

  • I used to drink smoothies. Then I was told at WW that when the food is blended, I lose the fiber. So if I use a blender, not a juicer, I still have the fiber when it is blended?

  • Awesome. plz make a video on omega 3 FA, all details like classification, types sources, daily requirement etc. U r the best person for this.

  • People just stop eating and drinking altogether. I saved alot of money and dropped my weight down so far I was able to fit into a very small and cramped coffin. And there I lay to this day. Dead.

  • this is why people dont eat healthy because everything they do is wrong. would u rather someone eat a fruit smoothie or a damn dairy cake with cream cheese icing?? gosh

  • When you pulverize raw kale in a blender/Nutribullet/etc., is it still really hard to break down? Seems like it’s great at keeping you regular.

  • The upside of smoothies is it’s an easy way of eating fruit and veg in high quantities, so if you’re worried about your health, I wouldn’t be to concerned with smoothies. As long as it’s just fruit and maybe water and/or some spices, it’s healthy

  • i like smoothies but i use fresh fruit when i can or i get them frozen but i also use veggies as well along with coconut water and wheat grass. It does help with the cravings alot

  • In my smoothie I put almond milk, one banana, and a couple blueberries. Is this fine? Also I think I’m going to start adding spinach or black chia seeds

  • When you pulverize raw kale in a blender/Nutribullet/etc., is it still really hard to break down? Seems like it’s great at keeping you regular.

  • Doctors shouldn’t give nutrition advice because they are taught on average less than 6 hours of nutrition knowledge in medical school

  • Eating the fruit or veggies unwhizzed is obviously better but it doesn’t hurt to have a smoothie occasionally. Also, most westerners don’t eat enough fruit so if having a smoothie gets people to actually eat some, then that’s gotta be encouraged!

  • Digesting fruit and veg is healthier then not digesting fruit and veg, “aren’t as healthy as you think” would suggest you know how healthy I think they are.

  • I was looking for an answer to the question “are smoothies healthy” thinking are there any downsides to taking things like kale, spinach, banana or mango in blended form. What I got was obvious BS. Who TF adds ice cream to a smoothie and expects it to be healthy!? Honestly!? I can understand the dislike ratio on this video…

    Be healthy and happy,
    Matt

  • So if there’s just almond milk, and fruits like papaya, raspberries, bananas and blueberries in the smoothie that’s not healthy neither?

  • Thanks for the video! It was interesting to listen to your thoughts on protein in smoothies. • Hi, thanks for the great information that you are providing. I have two questions: Number one: I have heard that spinach blocks the absortion of magnesium & potasiuum. Number two: can I use cucumbers for green smoothies? Also, I went shopping for frozen fruit and saw that it was very hign in sugar content. Therefore, I will use fresh fruit, except banana if I want to lose weight, maybe half a banana, not more. Thank you in advance for your help. FW

  • At one point he says there are 4 benefits of fruit, 3 of which are lost with smoothies. Does anyone know where I could find more information on this?

  • I contacted herpes in 2017, I was told by my doctor that there’s no possible cure for Herpes. I started taking my ARV’s, My CD4 was 77 and viral load was 112,450. I saw a website of Dr. Ebhota, also I saw a lot of testimonials about him on how he uses medicine to cure Herpes. I contacted him and told him my problems, He sent me the herbal medicine and I took it for 21 days which was almost a month, after then I went for check-up and I was cured. • I hate when someone posts something like this and it’s out of context. Juicing and Blending are two different things. Blending keeps the fiber in whatever you blended and it breaks it down so your body can absorb minerals and nutrients better. Juicing… you lose the fiber.

  • I buy green bananas, peel them, cut them in half, and the freeze them immediately. This drastically reduces the sugar (I think?).

  • At one point he says there are 4 benefits of fruit, 3 of which are lost with smoothies. Does anyone know where I could find more information on this?

  • Well I did Jason vale blended smoothie challenge before trying to become fully vegan I found it to be balanced and filling and helped to loose weight and tasted great most are vegan blends and extremely easy and delicious x and I was doing this up to three times a day for first week then down to two a day and one meal etc but can say extremely balanced blended diet and your supposed to drink them slowly as if your eating to help fill you up and stay full as so full of vitamins minerals etc…

  • who puts 100 apples in a smoothie to get it so concentrated? and its obviously not healthy if you put ice cream..
You don’t need a doctor to know whatever u said in this video..

  • You pop 5 veggies into a smoothie and 4 of those don’t count, and the fibre is miraculously not there anymore? Hmm, they should’ve specified they meant store bought bottled stuff, eh? How strange.
Anyway, I’m actually popping by to say CONGRATS… Congrats!:) Wishing you and Megan the best

  • Is there any credibility to those saying blending is not as healthy as eating the vegetables or fruits? We know juicing is definitely not as healthy, firstly fibre is missing. But blending?

  • When considering eating healthy, you have to never fall victim to modern day fad diets. Extreme diets are a threat for your health, especially ones that seriously limit your everyday nutritionary intake. Many of these fad diet plans work for a short time period and then the benefits decrease after a while. You should look up Custokebon Secrets on google as it isn’t just another fad diet where you starve yourself.

  • Smoothies are best thing on this planet. You ever ask someone “hey you want a smoothie and they say “hell no i dont want no smoothie

  • Smoothies is good but Juicing is a lot way more good! You can try apple, pineapple and carrots every morning with an empty stomach and see how it make you feel light and not bloated. Want more tips? Check this out. https://youtu.be/yukALCvXI5M

  • Autumn! I love all your info. Question: what protein powder do you recommend? Im not vegan, just wondering which you think is all around highest quality for your IF lifestyle? Also, does ACV sipper after smoothie mess up not eating between meals?

  • I find that smoothies just ferment in my gut if I add any fat or protein or whole grain (like oats). If it’s just fruit and vegetables my body can digest it better.

  • I do drink smoothies, I drink one for breakfast from Monday to Friday, so 5 days a week/5 smoothies a week. On the weekends I eat other healthy breakfasts, to maintain balance and variety in my diet aswell. I make a different one every morning, I wing it and just grab whichever frozen fruits/veggies I want, different supplements and add ins, aswell as collagen powder and a whole vitamin and mineral powder.

  • I buy green bananas, peel them, cut them in half, and the freeze them immediately. This drastically reduces the sugar (I think?).

  • We need to be a little more ecologist, please don’t use plastic paquets if isn’t necessary, always use the blender, your planet thanks it.

  • Another way smoothies are better than chewing: when you blend foods up, you can fit more in a cup, and you can I corporate super foods like spinach. Think about this: if you blended a green smoothie you would probably drink it all, but if you sat down and ate all that food, you wouldn’t get through half of it.

  • I would probably disagree with a statement that protein powder isn’t needed. For someone who is working physically a lot, protein powder during the activity and day after is a lifesaver. If not added to the smoothie, the hunger is unbearable the next day. Here I am talking about someone on a raw vegan diet.

  • I drink smoothies about 2 or 4 times a week. I use a good coconut water or water. Plenty of spinach, kale or baby bok choy.
Some combination of apples, pineapple, mango, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, peaches, and bananas.
    Chia and flax,
    Protein w/ no sugar added
    Sometimes stevia
Buy most of my fruit from the farmer’s market wash and freeze in 1 cup measurements.
It does not hike my blood sugar out of control.

  • Is it better to use chia seeds or oats in our smoothies? I know there is more carbohydrates in oats, but there is still no sugar in it. In one of her video she said something about oats but I can’t find it no more. I really want to be careful with my insulin going to high.

  • I make smoothies a couple times a week and I make them myself. The magic bullet is only like $45 and will work good for a couple years. I try to Not but anything plastic including weird smoothie mixes that usually don’t taste half as good as the ones you can make yourself.

  • Thank you so much for this eye-opening information!! This video is such valuable information for all who take health issues seriously. The Greek philosopher Hippocrates once said: ” Let thy food be your MEDICINE”!

  • who puts 100 apples in a smoothie to get it so concentrated? and its obviously not healthy if you put ice cream..
You don’t need a doctor to know whatever u said in this video..

  • Yea smoothies don’t all consist of apples.. smoothies are for nutrition; not to be consumed until you can’t take anymore, fatass..

  • More people need to see this. I made my own smoothie regimen for added raw foods intake because I literally don’t have time to eat as much as I should. I have to eat very slowly to avoid upsetting my stomach. People lose weight because the raw foods in smoothies provide some regularity, if you know what I mean.

  • Unfortunately I’m actually adding a little fruit to the blender to make my unflavored protein powder palatable, eating the fruit is not my purpose. But I guess I could use less.

  • I make my protein shakes after I work out a scoop of whey 24g of protein a scoop of PB2 a whole medium banana milk and a handful of almonds good balance of protein carb and fats for me k
