  • I have a bloating problem after eating. (Only occasional/rare IBS). Since taking acidophilus (probiotic) regularly before most meals my bloating ranges from mild to non-existent. After a big meal, I used to bloat so bad I would have to loosen my belt; my stomach would expand like a balloon. I can’t recommend this product for everyone but it sure works for me. Might be worth a try if you don’t wish to go on the meds. I see and experience a benefit, so I will continue on with probiotics.

Since, I am  new to making such drinks I am confused about 1 thing in your this recipe…. at the end you said don’t drink directly from the jar as its bad bacteria for the gut and filter the fruit. What I am confused about is if you filter the fruit how do u get the drink? By adding more water to the filtered fruit and blend it? while throwing away the liquid after straining the fruit? Or just blend everything in the fermented jar? if that’s so then there is no point of filtering the fruit. Kindly help me on this.

  • When you are saying who shouldn’t use it, you go into each in depth as to what the issue is for each group, except you just said HIV/AIDS and immediately continued to the next. How does fermented tea negatively impact that group?

  • cause… cause… it’s a fad �� The supposed “bad fighting bacteria” is too low to make any difference. You’d be better off supplementing with a pre/probiotic. But, nothing’s going to make you feel or look better than proper dieting, exercise, and sleep. A $5 magic drink isn’t going to help change any of that.

  • Is it possible to use raw honey, as opposed to probiotic capsules? As raw honey contains wild yeast and assists in the fermentation process.

  • If you have histamine issues be careful with probiotics. They can make things worse. Certain strains raise histamine levels. Something like Histamine X by Seeking Health is better in that case.

  • I am so happy I ran across your video. I was like “she looks familiar”. When you mentioned you did the ACV challenge, it clicked. ��. Anywho.. I have been on a kombucha kick for over a month. I had some breaks in between because 1. It WORKS on your digestive track WELL and 2. I was low on funds. I did some research and decided to start brewing at home. I am on my 3rd batch and I am loving it. My body feels so much better when I drink it. My appetite changes. I know the taste is not for everyone.   • Kombucha is seriously a miracle drink when it comes to energy. I don’t know why, but when I drink a bottle of Kombucha, it seriously uplifts my whole mood, gives me the perfect amount of energy, and even helps my muscles relax. All without the crash of caffeine. We are lucky enough to have a local organic brewer who sells out of the local grocery stores and even takes flavor requests (she did a blueberry/ginger for my family).

  • Have you heard of Jun? Supposed to be the champagne of kombucha. Made with honey and green tea. What’s your thoughts on it? And healthier than kombucha?

  • Needs a different opening audio. That i-apple or whatever computer tune is over done, a number of vids on youtube and elsewhere use that soundbite.

    Suppose one doesn’t use a probiotic starter culture, but just using ‘wild’ incidental micro-biota? In that you just put in the strawberries(for example) and the honey, plus the water,… then what would happen during the fermentation process?
    And what about Kvas as another probiotic drink? Fundamental quality primo-healthy kvas?

    Btw, Joon/Jun Melange in San Diego is way better than any kombucha I’ve had.
    Jun is fresher-sprightlier, kombucha has a more ‘dank’ character. Though when my housemate made kombucha at home in 1995 it seemed better, sprightlier.

  • The only thing you have to worry about with consuming lot’s of Kombucha and Apple Cider vinegar, is that it can make your blood acidic and throw off your PH balance. Small amounts on the regular is OK. Just be mindful. I’m so addicted to your channel!

  • It’s an oversimplification to say that Clostridia are always bad. Some, particularly the C. Diff strain, are notorious, but there are many diverse species and some are beneficial and produce much of the short-chain fatty acids necessary for a healthy gut. https://gutpathogens.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/1757-4749-5-23. If anyone has additional information on this I would appreciate hearing about it.

  • I think he’s too far gone on Tradional chinese Medicine. Dampening, dry / hot body, cold body condition etc. Concepts invented at a time there was no science. Best stick with the science part.

  • I like to ferment a bucket of honey water (often with pine resin added) and bottle it into my old kombucha bottles, for another probiotic drink.

  • i am 32 and healthy… i drink 2 cups a day of home made kefir, loaded of probiotics, it helped me a lot with an almost year long sinus infection, ezcema and acid reflux…. so i will keep having my kefir with honey everyday, plus its delicious lol

  • It always have helped my stomach, every time i had stomach issues & drank that and instantly felt better through out the day. To lose weight i suggest lemon water after or with breakfast everyday for 30 or more days. It worked for me, just not with my acne.. Green tea everyday before breakfast will definitely get rid of acne and you will be left with acne free glowing skin. Im on the black tea detox now

  • @stemikger if your happy then that’s all that matters but you might benefit from checking out Pranayama. Go to Baba Ram devs videos on youtube and check it out. Some of them deal with Ult Colitis. It’s changed my life because I had an open mind to it. The choice is of course yours.

  • Good for you. I got interested in probiotics after using one of the commercial drinks to clear up bowel problems caused by anti-biotics.
    After benefitting from a trial with raw milk, I moved to milk and water kefir and a long list of fermeted vegetables (sauerkraut, brussel sprouts, carrots, brocolli..)

    It is also worth noting that by adding vitamin c powder (1g per 10L) you can dechlorinate tap water and remove chloramines (which don’t off gas). Tap water supresses gut flora.

  • The thesis of this video was loaded. The commercial drinks are not a great source of probiotics. They lack the diversity of natural strains, as they have to because they have to be standardised.

    Milk kefir, Sauerkraut, Water Kefir, unpasteurised cheeses, naturally pickled vegetables are all sources of natural varieties of probiotics.

  • since making this comment on this video i’ve been doing research nonstop. i’ve found out that the gut flora, the bacteria in our digestive system is the main cause of allergies. GMO foods negatively alter the gut flora and cause havoc to our immune system. a way to reverse allergies and bad health is to eat lots of fermented foods, now im fermenting my own foods in jars and making kefir from water kefir grains.

  • This idea is a new one for me. I have a question. I do ferment cabbage so I understand wild fermenting ; somewhat. However, why do you not just swallow the probiotic capsules? Is it that you would rather drink or does the bacteria greatly multiply?

  • While i agree that probiotics can be useful, I think it is equally important to make sure you are getting the right probiotics, & be careful of choosing the right sources. Many of the highly advertised yogurts don’t have to specify how much bacteria culture is in their product, and a lot of the benefits are counter-acted by all the sugar that is found in it. I would say that if you’re going to eat yogurt, eat plain, natural, unsweetened yogurt. I do agree that probiotics are usually beneficial!

  • Not 100% sure that 5 days of drinking Kambucha is a long enough time for it to have an overall effect on a persons body. Perhaps a month would be a more reasonable time span to see any changes it may have.:)

  • I take probiotics pills and I feel extraordinary effects. For start, in the first day of taking it, my skin cleared up from the Rosacea and pimples! My friend said it looks like I did a peeling. My level of energy boosted and I feel my mind is much more sharp.

    I am not taking yogurts… I’m taking pills. Yogurts didn’t work for me. They actually make me get spots.

  • I’m 25 and have suffered from frequent random stomach pain since the age of 14. I have no insurance so I treated myself by taking raw garlic (to kill parasites and bad bacteria) and also taking probiotics (to restore the good bacteria). After 2 months of treatment my stomach problems were gone.
    Wait at least 6 hours after eating the raw garlic before taking the probiotics.

  • The reason that Clostridia increased in one patient is that these probiotic yoghurt drinks are FULL of sugar. Some of the leading brands have more sugar content in them than full fat Coca Cola. Probiotics are very, very good for you its simply a case of taking it in the correct form, ie. a powder or a capsule. I take a probiotic called OptiBac, and recommend it very highly.

  • i used treelac and dam it was good, but the beginning of it caused terrible side effects, but its like this it gets worse before it got better, i had terrible headaches, stomach crapping and constant irriablity. After a couple of weeks and drinking plenty of water the effects went away and i was better than before taking them. I recommended them, just bare the side effects.

  • Very interesting, thank you! It’s amazing how much comes down to gut bacteria and yeasts. From my understanding, antibiotics kill certain strains of gut bacteria, and the most harmful are the Broad Strain antibiotics such as Cipro (as opposed to something like penecillin/ amoxicilan etc) which are more specific, and kill fewer strains of gut bacteria as well as fewer strains of “bad bacteria”. Narrow strain causes less disturbance. Diet can also help a lot rebalancing gut bacteria. If your doctor can test the infection for what strain it contains and then prescribe a narrow-strain antibiotic for that, it is a better choice I think if you need them.

  • The probiotics that are sold in pharmacies, especially practitioner only forms are far more potent than anything you’d find in a standard yoghurt. You’d need to consume an awful lot of yoghurt drink to even come close to the potency of a properly formulated probiotic powder or capsule.

    Milk kefir, Sauerkraut, Water Kefir, unpasteurised cheeses, naturally pickled vegetables are all sources of natural varieties of probiotics.

  • I have read this helps with constipation, so I did stop taking my fiber supplement and eating raisin brain. Then I stopped intaking water and combining this with creatine and coffee, you know the drill.
    I slacked big time, now I took some mineral oil, this stuff works well but obviously not long term. I’ll be looking into these very soon.

    Suppose one doesn’t use a probiotic starter culture, but just using ‘wild’ incidental micro-biota? In that you just put in the strawberries(for example) and the honey, plus the water,… then what would happen during the fermentation process?
    And what about Kvas as another probiotic drink? Fundamental quality primo-healthy kvas?

    Btw, Joon/Jun Melange in San Diego is way better than any kombucha I’ve had.
    Jun is fresher-sprightlier, kombucha has a more ‘dank’ character. Though when my housemate made kombucha at home in 1995 it seemed better, sprightlier.

  • Love, love, love!!!! have just started exploring femented foods and was on the cusp up of probiotics just in past week starting to make my own yogurt, one lot by using a store bought greek yogurt I bought in the tub and another version using a yogurt culture I buy in powdered form. Kelly I was wondering if you know if these capsules can be used for starting a batch of yogurt? They are definitely on my shopping list for tomorrow and am anxious to get some batches of this awesome probiotic drink for myself and my family started! To lose weight i suggest lemon water after or with breakfast everyday for 30 or more days. It worked for me, just not with my acne..   • I had scabs on my scalp that I have been picking for 10 years now gone after drinking KOMBUCHA Homemade Brew for 6 weeks daily 12 ounces. i brew 1/2 tea / 1/2 KOMBUCHA for one week green tea using 7 tea bags, 1.5 cup cug sugar and gallon of water i boil then cool 85 degree then add KOMBUCHA LIQUID and MUSHROOMS. i brew tea bags seven minutes.   • Birth control killed my gut. I went off of it and after 3 months I decided to try a probiotic. It helped a ton. I’ve only been on it for a month or so, but my gut is way better.   • This is a great video. To add to this, When you buy a probiotic, look essentially for 3 important things 1. Freshness, 2. if it is multi strain and 3. the probiotic should be seasonal.

    Freshness The bacteria in your probiotic are live organisms and these die, the older your pill gets. So when you buy in a store or even on Amazon, check the date of manufacture.

    Multi Strain Don’t buy a single strain probiotic. Go for one with multiple strains.

    Seasonal Your gut microbiome changes with every season (summer, spring, winter) and you thus need a probiotic that is able to cater to the needs of the season.

    For example, during winters, you need a probiotic with strains that cater to flu and cold. So you need to do your due research on which strains are best suited for a particular season.

    Last but not least, don’t expect probiotic to be a magic pill that cures all your ills. A healthy diet is just as important for good health. You can’t take a probiotic and then expect it to counter junk food. You will simply be putting money down the drain if you do so.

    Also have a prebiotic to supplement your probiotic.

  • when i had an ulcer, the best thing that I could eat to avoid pain was yogurt(bc it was smooth going down and not too acidic). About a week after eating yogurt on a regular basis, all my ulcer symptoms went away and I didn’t need to take my prescribed medication any more.

  • I started taking probiotics daily because I would get a very bad stomachache from eating a little and drinking too much water. When this happens ( the stomachache) I would end up on the toilet about three o’clock in the morning very weak and then passing out most of the time, and if I drink cold water with something sweet within hours. These symptoms take over my entire body����then I’m quickly rushing to the bathroom, hoping not to pass out on the way plus defecate’. It’s too much information, but I experienced this before while visiting family. What an embarrassment when it’s not your bathroom, toilet to �� on.
    I explained this to my doctor because I had to cancel a Colonoscopy because the intake of water and laxatives had me in the bathroom with the same symptoms that morning so I had to do another procedure… My doctor couldn’t figure out. What was happening with me… I’m too afraid to take a Colonoscopy so my doctor suggested a Cologuard even though I have not had these symptoms for months while taking a probiotic before and after meals, probiotics for me from now on!

  • If you have histamine issues be careful with probiotics. They can make things worse. Certain strains raise histamine levels. Something like Histamine X by Seeking Health is better in that case.

  • It’s an oversimplification to say that Clostridia are always bad. Some, particularly the C.     Freshness The bacteria in your probiotic are live organisms and these die, the older your pill gets. So when you buy in a store or even on Amazon, check the date of manufacture.

    Multi Strain Don’t buy a single strain probiotic. Go for one with multiple strains.

    Seasonal Your gut microbiome changes with every season (summer, spring, winter) and you thus need a probiotic that is able to cater to the needs of the season.

    For example, during winters, you need a probiotic with strains that cater to flu and cold. So you need to do your due research on which strains are best suited for a particular season.

    Last but not least, don’t expect probiotic to be a magic pill that cures all your ills. A healthy diet is just as important for good health. You can’t take a probiotic and then expect it to counter junk food. You will simply be putting money down the drain if you do so.

    Also have a prebiotic to supplement your probiotic.

  • If u dont see the difference i do my dibeetus numbers where 14 now im 9. 512lbs to 336 sints i stopped drinking ive gained im so scared to get on the scale the first thing i noticed my teeth and nail seemed like super clean and healthy and my bathroom time was cut to like boom healthy but i also only was eating meat and vegetables ya i see a lil difference give it more time i was introduced to the drink in Washington colville im back in ca i think Washington is more healthy organic stores but im definitely getting back to it even going to start up with making it good luck

  • I have read this helps with constipation, so I did stop taking my fiber supplement and eating raisin brain. Then I stopped intaking water and combining this with creatine and coffee, you know the drill.
    I slacked big time, now I took some mineral oil, this stuff works well but obviously not long term. I’ll be looking into these very soon.

  • This is interesting but it does have some holes. I have suffered from SIBO and IBS for several years and I was prescribed probiotics about 12 years ago. Not knowing much about it I started taking them. However i did not see any improvements. About 11 months ago, i discovered Amazing 4U2 probiotics and it has really helped me.   • Chanel, I make my own Kombucha, when I drink it through the year and go to test my mecular regeneration, the doctor says, this is a miracle, your cells are regenerating, it happened two years, not consecutively. When I don’t drink it, the mecular degeneration increases; not only that, cysts in my body drop 50% the year I drink Kombucha (that I make).
    Also, my husband got food poisoning with 7 others that ate bad meat at a certain restaurant, I gave him 12 oz of Kombucha, he was the only one that did not throw-up or get diarrhea, after drinking the Kombucha he felt normal.
    I have other experiences, but this is enough to help you, I also drink ACV, truthfully Kombucha has by far, better results when it gets to detoxification, it cleans your liver, kidneys and intestinal tract. Hope this helps.

  • cause… cause… it’s a fad �� The supposed “bad fighting bacteria” is too low to make any difference. You’d be better off supplementing with a pre/probiotic. But, nothing’s going to make you feel or look better than proper dieting, exercise, and sleep. A $5 magic drink isn’t going to help change any of that.

    I had what is called “After infection IBS” this thing happened after being inected with sort of food poisoning, and taking more than 14 consecutive antibiotics courses, this IBS can change your life and really change it to more than what you can emagine, Probiotics helped me alot and changed my life.

  • 5 days is no where near enough time. I have literally been drinking kombucha one a day for almost 2 years. I have had many benefits but I can tell you right now it took way more than five days.

  • Your health doesn’t go to crap overnight. Similarly, fixing it takes time.
    Also, sometimes things that make you healthier will initially make you feel worse.
    Consuming too much of any probiotic that your body isn’t used to can cause you to sit on the white throne and contemplate your decisions.
    However, GTs Dave consumes upto 2 gallons of Kombucha a day!

    Finally, homebrew kombucha is better and more interesting than commercial kombucha! And it’s super cheap, comparatively.

    Make sure you’re on the right diet though, the food you eats support the bacteria in your gut.

    Anyways I very much like Kombucha. I never did get tired in the beginning. Kombucha has fixed every stomach ache I have ever had since I discovered it. It has been amazing for me so I started making Kombucha myself. Although it is expensive to get started in the way that I did; after about 50 bottles It pays to make it.

  • Not 100% sure that 5 days of drinking Kambucha is a long enough time for it to have an overall effect on a persons body. Perhaps a month would be a more reasonable time span to see any changes it may have.:)

  • Kombucha is seriously a miracle drink when it comes to energy. I don’t know why, but when I drink a bottle of Kombucha, it seriously uplifts my whole mood, gives me the perfect amount of energy, and even helps my muscles relax. All without the crash of caffeine. We are lucky enough to have a local organic brewer who sells out of the local grocery stores and even takes flavor requests (she did a blueberry/ginger for my family).

  • While i agree that probiotics can be useful, I think it is equally important to make sure you are getting the right probiotics, & be careful of choosing the right sources. Many of the highly advertised yogurts don’t have to specify how much bacteria culture is in their product, and a lot of the benefits are counter-acted by all the sugar that is found in it. I would say that if you’re going to eat yogurt, eat plain, natural, unsweetened yogurt. I do agree that probiotics are usually beneficial!

  • Thanks for sharing. Coconut yoghurt can be made using coconut milk and probiotic pills in a clean jar. You could also use some of store bought coconut yoghurt as a starter to coat and to stir in the warm coconut milk while prepping to ferment in the jar.

  • I started taking probiotics daily because I would get a very bad stomachache from eating a little and drinking too much water. When this happens ( the stomachache) I would end up on the toilet about three o’clock in the morning very weak and then passing out most of the time, and if I drink cold water with something sweet within hours. These symptoms take over my entire body����then I’m quickly rushing to the bathroom, hoping not to pass out on the way plus defecate’. It’s too much information, but I experienced this before while visiting family. What an embarrassment when it’s not your bathroom, toilet to �� on.
    I explained this to my doctor because I had to cancel a Colonoscopy because the intake of water and laxatives had me in the bathroom with the same symptoms that morning so I had to do another procedure… My doctor couldn’t figure out. What was happening with me… I’m too afraid to take a Colonoscopy so my doctor suggested a Cologuard even though I have not had these symptoms for months while taking a probiotic before and after meals, probiotics for me from now on!

  • The only thing you have to worry about with consuming lot’s of Kombucha and Apple Cider vinegar, is that it can make your blood acidic and throw off your PH balance. Small amounts on the regular is OK. Just be mindful. I’m so addicted to your channel!

  • Probiotics are recommended after antibiotics. The trials didn’t examine fecal content which is the first thing I’d target to see if the probiotics had increased or decreased digestion of dietary content.

    Bifidus is the strain best for 90% of people.

  • Love, love, love!!!! have just started exploring femented foods and was on the cusp up of probiotics just in past week starting to make my own yogurt, one lot by using a store bought greek yogurt I bought in the tub and another version using a yogurt culture I buy in powdered form. Kelly I was wondering if you know if these capsules can be used for starting a batch of yogurt? They are definitely on my shopping list for tomorrow and am anxious to get some batches of this awesome probiotic drink for myself and my family started! I am using what I guess is distilled water at the moment (store bought water) as we wont drink what is coming from the tap for all the reasons Im sure you would know but am this week lucky enough to be able to buy an alkalining water machine. Kelly do you know if the probiotic capsules will work the same in alkalined water? I have obviously subscribed now and  am so very interested in learning all you have to teach us Xx

Just stir twice a day for three days at room temperature to ensure no surface molds take hold. Once bubbly, bottle in pressure proof glasses (like a flip top beer bottle) and wait another day or two. Then, straight to the fridge. Makes a VERY carbonated, kombucha-like drink in under a week without the fuss of booch making. I make 1.5 gallons for under $5 compared to $4.00 for two pints for kombucha, the lacto bacters are practically making us money. If a starter is desired (for a cold house? faster results?) then I found that beet ferment juice or even fermented sauerkraut juice works very well. 1 TBSP for 1.5 gallons works very well here no trace of the starter flavor.

    Thanks for your great video. I made this probiotic drink few days ago and tried two different probiotic in two different jars.
    One one them was easy but the other one was almost exploding in terms of fermentation and did not taste as good.
    Just wondering if you have any thought on this please?

  • I have Colitis and Kombucha almost immediately makes me break out in acne every time I drink it. I wish it helped me because I do love the taste but I can definitely agree that this isn’t good for people with Colitis. I wish it was as I love the taste though..

  • Very interesting, thank you! It’s amazing how much comes down to gut bacteria and yeasts. From my understanding, antibiotics kill certain strains of gut bacteria, and the most harmful are the Broad Strain antibiotics such as Cipro (as opposed to something like penecillin/ amoxicilan etc) which are more specific, and kill fewer strains of gut bacteria as well as fewer strains of “bad bacteria”. Narrow strain causes less disturbance. Diet can also help a lot rebalancing gut bacteria. If your doctor can test the infection for what strain it contains and then prescribe a narrow-strain antibiotic for that, it is a better choice I think if you need them.

  • They most likely used Probiotics that come from GMO ingredients in this study. Most probiotic supplements are made with genetically modified flow agents, fillers.

    What you want is USDA certified Proabiotics.

  • Good for you. I got interested in probiotics after using one of the commercial drinks to clear up bowel problems caused by anti-biotics.
    After benefitting from a trial with raw milk, I moved to milk and water kefir and a long list of fermeted vegetables (sauerkraut, brussel sprouts, carrots, brocolli..)

    It is also worth noting that by adding vitamin c powder (1g per 10L) you can dechlorinate tap water and remove chloramines (which don’t off gas). Tap water supresses gut flora.

I was sick in my stomach for 3 months stomachache day and night 24 hrs a day I wanted to die to end the pain I took probiotics 200 billions critical care and my pain was gone! This is after I spend $800 on dr and medication that did nothing absolutely nothing dr couldn’t help me and a simple probiotic cure my stomach issues, now I don’t trust any dr with my health thank yourself God for helping us see what is wrong with society, I love you God you always came to my rescue,amen.

  • The reason that Clostridia increased in one patient is that these probiotic yoghurt drinks are FULL of sugar. Some of the leading brands have more sugar content in them than full fat Coca Cola. Probiotics are very, very good for you its simply a case of taking it in the correct form, ie. a powder or a capsule. I take a probiotic called OptiBac, and recommend it very highly.

  • i used treelac and dam it was good, but the beginning of it caused terrible side effects, but its like this it gets worse before it got better, i had terrible headaches, stomach crapping and constant irriablity. After a couple of weeks and drinking plenty of water the effects went away and i was better than before taking them. I recommended them, just bare the side effects.

  • This is interesting but it does have some holes. I have suffered from SIBO and IBS for several years and I was prescribed probiotics about 12 years ago. Not knowing much about it I started taking them. However i did not see any improvements. About 11 months ago, i discovered Amazing 4U2 probiotics and it has really helped me. I even got rid of my prilosec. What I like about this probiotic is that it is all natural, GMO free, sugar free and dairy free. It also has 50 billion and 13 strains.   • Birth control killed my gut. I went off of it and after 3 months I decided to try a probiotic. It helped a ton. I’ve only been on it for a month or so, but my gut is way better. Bloating and diarrhea are gone (of course unless I eat something with too much salt or pop then I bloat a little bit) and my acne has cleared up a LOT.

  • I am so happy I ran across your video. I was like “she looks familiar”. When you mentioned you did the ACV challenge, it clicked. ��. Anywho.. I have been on a kombucha kick for over a month. I had some breaks in between because 1. It WORKS on your digestive track WELL and 2. I was low on funds. I did some research and decided to start brewing at home. I am on my 3rd batch and I am loving it. My body feels so much better when I drink it. My appetite changes. I know the taste is not for everyone. However I’m convinced if people find the right flavors, they would like it. I am loving my personal journey. I am playing around with a variety of flavor options.

    Thanks for your great video. I made this probiotic drink few days ago and tried two different probiotic in two different jars.
    One one them was easy but the other one was almost exploding in terms of fermentation and did not taste as good.

    Make sure you’re on the right diet though, the food you eats support the bacteria in your gut.

  • I have been on man made crack pills for years..it did so much damage…the problem I grew up with out to utube…omg. I have been through that all…it was h.p. I had to change my whole diet and life style. All because our medical system.
