  • oh please. i drink 2 liters of soda daily combined with 1 or 2 energy drinks for last ten years and im 5’10” 155 lbs. So clearly their data is skewed.

  • A few seconds in and I’m confused. He keeps referring to diet drinks as… sweet… tasty…. ewww… diet drinks are foul and chemical tasting. Artificial sweeteners don’t count as sweet to me. I don’t understand how anyone can drink them…

  • I disagree with your advice that drinking sodas and diet sodas in moderation is ok. Most people are creatures of habit, so “moderation” is bad advice to the vast majority of humans. Even if someone is capable of drinking soda rarely, it’s like saying “poison in moderation is ok.” While you might not notice the negative effects of sodas and diet sodas immediately in smaller amounts, that doesn’t mean they are harmless in moderation.

  • I only drink rootbeer cuz its so good. I crave it because I must crave the sugar. I’m going to try to only have some on the weekends to cut down its a good idea. Then maybe after a while cut it out completely.

  • Diet Soda was my vise. I drank caffeine free Diet Soda Morning, Noon and Night. I stopped drinking caffeine free Diet Soda about 2 years ago, I now Lost my taste for it. I drink lots of water and/orgar free seltzer. I have not lost 1 pound. I do not over eat, but I have not lost 1 pound, so I don’t believe it.

  • This video is only perpetuating the falsehoods of diet soda. As a type 1 diabetic diet soda is my go to since I’d have to do a ton of insulin if I drank a regular soda. However even though I know it’s fine. I still run into a ton of people who judge me and say “you know that diet soda is worse for you than regular soda, right?” To which I have to go through a whole explanation as to why I [ type 1 diabetic] would need to stab myself and artificially cause hyperglycemia just to have a regular pop, and unlike me that normal person wouldn’t have to do the same. Like I am so sick of non diabetics and non health care professionals trying to tell me how to manage my illness. Stop acting all high and mighty.   • The body burns on average 2000 2500 kcal per day period. So if you put on weight then it is simply because of your eating habits and not because of diet soda.

  • We very seldom drink a whole can of soda with a meal,
    so we both
    stopped drinking soda from 12 oz (355 ML) cans and now drink
    16.9 oz (500 ml) bottles of soda so we can put the twist caps back on,

    and put half back in the fridge so we can finish the soda the next day.

    Reusing the twist caps keeps a bottle of soda from going “flat”.

    I tend to drink more instant coffee (with milk & no sugar)

    and fruit juice to further reduce my consumption of sugar.

  • I’ve always been a skinny girl and used to take advantage of that. I used to drink like 2 packs of soda A DAY. Coke, root beer etc. any soda it didn’t matter as long as it was soda and sugary. It was like hell when my mom tried to get me to drink a bottle of water. That’s how addicted I was to the sugary drinks. But I’ve since then quit a few months ago and I rarely drink soda now!:D

  • Huh. I was surprised to not find reactive hypoglycemia on the list of symptoms of metabolic syndrome. Given that I have been drinking >15 cans of diet pepsi per day for over a decade and hypoglycemia is the only thing I’ve acquired as far as health problems are concerned (and yes, I get a full CBC panel run every year).

  • Soda has no health benefits, zero/none. Will just make you fat. And the most dangerous kind of fat. This holds true for both regular and diet soda. The government at a minimum should put health warnings on soda products.

  • Even if artificial sweeteners don’t trigger insulin release, that’s actually worse because if we don’t trigger insulin, internally, when drinking something sweet, the fake sugars will accumulate in the liver and be stored as non alcoholic fat.

    It’s better to have the real coke once a week than diet coke every day.

  • It’s not the diet soda that causes the weight gain. It’s more of the artificial sweeteners in it, which trigger you to crave sweets and an increase in hunger, or tricks your body to eat more, which in turn causes weight gain. So then, people blame it all on the diet soda. (Plus the media over exaggerates everything). Diet soda might not always be the best option due to chemicals, but there’s no harm from the weigh gain. When I have it in the house, I usually have two decent size glasses a day, and I always feel fine. It’s all about moderation, to be honest.

  • I’m in the UK.
    I don’t drink a lot of fizzy drinks but used to have sugar free cordial now and again.
    After reading and seeing all the numerous ‘dangers’ of sugar free cordial and fizzy drinks I decided to have full sugar coke now and then and full sugar OASIS sometimes.
    Guess what? I’ve dropped 2 pounds in weight and BMI lowered too.
    As long as it’s not in excess…I would say have normal sugared drinks… but only sporadically!

  • I exercise but not like running except when playing/training for baseball. I do lift a few times a week, so i must have a high metabolism

  • I wonder if those of us who dri nk diet soda really actually enjoy the taste. I didn’t ever enjoy the taste at all, yet I found myself still drinking it from time to time, am I insane? No just honestly wondering why we drink it at all. I enjoy the flavor of regular cola. I actually disliked coffee and tea also but I still drank it until I acquired the taste for it. Now if that isn’t stupid I dunno what is. 😉

  • I love coke and it is my only bad habit. I have no intention of stopping my Coke consumption. I only drink one twelve oz can a day

  • Lmao people wanna go on a diet? Just drink enough water, even if you’re not thirsty. Eat few calorie foods like apples, bananas and stuff. And do exercise. It literally works for everyone. If you’re gonna say “IT DOESNT WORK FOR ME”

  • Stopped drinking soda for like 2-3 months now, decided to finally have one today…..I didn’t enjoy it, too much gas �� I think I enjoy the water more honestly

  • It is all about thermodynamics, if you drink something that contains no calories so you cant get overweigth because of it, but if you always eat something and drink diet soda yes it migth seems like you get overweigth because of the diet soda but if it says 0 calorie it cant make any differences in your body
