In a small bowl, stir together the cashew butter, cinnamon and vanilla. Toast bread and spread each slice with 1 tablespoon cashew butter (reserve remaining butter for another use). Spoon 2 tablespoons of jam over top of cashew butter (store remaining jam in the refrigerator for up to 1 week).
Serve immediately. Makes 1 cup of jam. We serve the jam on Ezekiel toast with a smear of cinnamon and vanilla-scented cashew butter, another easy DIY spread that comes together in seconds. Ingredients: 1 pint organic strawberries, sliced; 2T coconut sugar; 1T lemon juice; 2T chia seeds; 1/2 cup cashew butter; 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon; 1/2 tsp vanilla extract; 4 slices whole-wheat or gluten-free bread. Today’s recipe is so easy, you can make it with your eyes closed.
I have been absolutely loving adding jams to my oatmeals and deserts, and honestly cannot believe I waited this long to make it. This strawberry chia jam is really quick to prep and can be used all week when stored in the fridge. Plus, the great thing about making your own jam is that you can adjust the sweetness. I prefer.
Besides chia bars and whole wheat banana chia muffins, one type of food I love to use chia seeds in is jams.EASY jams. Combine-ingredients-in-sauce-pan-and-refrigerate kind of jams. Growing up I devoured the Little House on the Prairie book series, and, inspired by their robust and quite-necessary preserved food stockpile, thought I’d grow up to become a prolific canner like the Ingalls.
A quick and easy jam to make as it is thickened with chia seeds. The subtle orange flavour adds a pop of brightness to the strawberries. Spread on toast, or top your yogurt or porridge!
Keep in the fridge for up to a week, if it even lasts that long! Can be frozen, if desired. The healthier choice will be jam because it has more fruit in it (and less sugar).
