There are also plenty of foods that we need to cook or they’d harm us. Kidney beans and cashews are actually poisonous in their raw state. And then, there are foods like potatoes, root vegetables and some collard greens that are simply too hard on most people’s stomachs to consume raw.

With such a system, vitamin A, zinc, iodine and magnesium are poorly digested. As a result of raw food, or rather, the lack of thermal processing of food, parasites can enter the body. In addition, some products in themselves are capable of causing poisoning. So, raw.

A raw food diet is based upon uncooked, unprocessed plant-derived foods. Staples of the diet include organic fruits and vegetables, sprouts, unprocessed grains, nuts, beans and seaweed. In some cases mildly heated foods, such as warm vegetable soup, are permitted. If you choose to. You’ll mostly be eating raw fruits, vegetables, and grains. The idea is that heating food destroys its nutrients and natural enzymes, which is bad because enzymes boost digestion and fight chronic. • second reason is incorrect, our body absorb more energy from raw food than from standard foods, that’s why you can eat much less and having more energy. however, calories are becoming irrelevant on raw food diet.

  • I love raw foods, however, certain things I want to cook. I make everything from scratch. I make hot soup from scratch. I cook rice and beans, I’m not soaking and sprouting for days. Everything else is raw

  • Soak your legumes overnight and then sprout them in a jar, rinsing them morning and night for 4 to 5 days chickpea sprouts are my favourite and make a fabulous raw hummus.

  • All thanks to this one green fat-burning fruit she added to meals to miraculously smooth the cellulite on her legs and butt… Here are tha natural and safe and simple procedures to burn belly fat please visit here https://5c7eabt2pz4ujm9s032-lv7v22.hop.clickbank.net/

  • Every single time I see an interview video with Dr. Gregor, he’s on a treadmill, lol!

Recently joined the Raw army. I am not 100% raw, but I try to do more raw than cooked and I am 100% plant based.

I gave up sugar over a year ago and became vegan over the summer. Love these videos! They have been so helpful for my journey.

  • Wasn’t the whole reason we started cooking food was because we couldn’t get enough nutrients for our big brains from eating just raw food?

  • Losing weight now is really easy ( I have tried this myself) DIET.SEXYI.AM is the true answer on how to lose weight fast and in a healthy way. Check it out.

  • Hiya, have you heard about Lean Body Blaster? (Go Google it) You will find out about the serious crimes we commit against ourselves. With Lean Body Blaster, you will discover how to burn calories fast.

  • If you seriously want to burn off fat fast, you should do a google search Slim Body Maximizer. You are bound to get the body you deserve.

  • I eat all raw food except for meat, fish, poultry and eggs. No bread, processed oils, packaged or processed foods and no milk products. I combination of green smoothies, nuts, seeds, avocados, meats cooked in water (not browned) and unblended fruit for dessert makes a realistic alternative to a strictly raw diet.

  • Geez, I feel like such a amatuer…..well I am really. But this is something I really wanna do….It’s not like I haven’t tried every other God for saken diet on the planet….This really is Last Stop Saloon! Oh well…. Hi ho….Hi ho…..

  • A major pro is that raw is low in Advanced Glycation Endproducts (AGEs) linked to heart disease, dementia, diabetes, kidney insufficiency by setting off a cascade of inflammatory reactions in the body. FYI http://theage-lessway.com. Cooked meals can also be low in AGEs if moist cooking methods are used and an acid is added to the cooking but when high protein and fat and simple sugars are cooked using dry methods, or processed even dehydrating increase AGE levels. Even raw meat is relatively elevated in AGEs dry cooking makes it difficult to keep levels below the recommended 5,000 to 8,000 kilo units a day and portions must be small, even fried tofu is elevated but when the diet is plant-based it leaves more room for these in the diet while keeping total daily intake below the recommended threshold. Raw foods would be inherently low in AGEs even if some of the dehydrated and dry nuts have higher AGE levels than in their fresh state. Only about 500 foods have been studied for AGE levels. It remains to be seen if AGEs in nuts might be less absorbed given not all calories from nuts are absorbed…Plant-based using primarily moist cooking methods for higher protein foods while incorporating many raw options also is my preference. That being said AGEs form in a chemical reaction with protein and simple sugar, more so if high fat. I would still grill vegetables because they do not yield high AGE levels because of their low protein, sugar and fat content.

  • I eat only plants and seafood. No chicken/beef/ham/turkey/pork red meats. I feel amazing, I feel I have more energy than I did at age 12 and I’m 27 rite now. It’s to noticeable what your food does to you if you experiment enough. Red meats other than seafood seriously increases stomach acid which ends up burning vitamins in your stomach and when eating red meats you end up getting hungry faster aswell. If you do eat red meats it needs to be top quality. Best quality eggs, best quality chicken. It does make a difference. But I’m down to needing only 4 hours of sleep at night that’s what my pescatarian diets doing. There’s no going back it’s amazing. My base food is beans/rice/root food/yams/potatoes and as much random fruit as possible but my favorite is jackfruits and mangoes/bananas. Citrus foods not so much maybe in morning as they are strong in acid. Hemp seeds are also amazing. I wish I knew how much red meat has held me back since I was a little child in school.

  • Sadhguru help!
Some of them are telling me that pesticides are on the vegetables. At least fruits ok like banana or orange. What yo do please help. Thank you guru ji

  • That is some wise-assery mixed with dogshit. When these people talk outside their rainbow world they fail massively. I can’t listen to him after this

  • please check out my channel everyone! am on my journey to loosing weight and getting healthy’ I want you to be apart of my program! this includes raw foods about 50% but is not a complete raw food regimen’ I explain all about this in my videos! Are you sick of being overweight? do you want to loose weight safely and affectively? Well then my channel is perfect for all the questions you have about health, fitness, nutrition and wellness. Dont forget to sub, rate and comment! God Bless!

  • Just be an omnivore, these guys have no evidence. They are slaves of the elite and work for them to brainwash them. Dont respond hate if you dont have evidence⚠️

  • Question… If I understood it correctly… Rawfood is increasing Vata dosha. So for people with Vata prakruti or during autumn etc. it might be tricky for activating imbalance?

  • Eating 50-60% Raw food is not meant for every (body) constitution. Some bodies need to eat more cooked food to process all the goodies in the food properly. For sure, eat more plant-based food and reduce meat consumption, but don’t make it all raw food:-)

  • Thank you for not vilifying cooked foods! I enjoy my greens and potato salads for dinner.:) They keep me satiated. I tried oatmeal with fruit in the AM, but it is so drying. #rawtillnoon

  • word for word. 50% uncooked and 50% cooked you’ll be alright. If others prefer cooked food when you want to do uncooked, it’s easy to make it yourself even if you donot know how to cook. We are still primates so the uncooked diet is the right type of diet.

  • I respect him and agree to almost everything he says. I followed this too and today I have chronic Tonsillitis and my doctor says it’s due consumption of raw food.

  • I read inner engineering by sadhguru. I ate raw food of about 70% of the total plate. Within a week, my skin became clear. My eyes brightened. I lost about 12 kg in just one month. It was a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, it wasn’t possible for me to continue because I was a college student and it took lots of efforts to arrange raw diet. But, trust me guys, it definitely will change your body and mind in a good way. Try it. It’s worth it!

  • He didn’t mention the studies about Advanced Glycation End Products, the pro oxidants found heavily in cooked foods that age people rapidly. Look at any of the PCRM doctors compared to raw foodists. It’s almost night and day.

  • I don’t think so. I feel much more tired than I was before. How many you agree with me? I’ve tried with these like almost a year. Hasn’t worked out. How many of you agree with me?

  • Hay +bananiac! You have to let everyone know about Dr Greger’s YouTube channel and website please. This has helped the me to educate myself wooooo go vegan

  • This man really seems to care about the world’s future, He’s not just a businessman like most social influencers. Man is a frugivore.

  • Would be epic to see a study on raw till 4 veganism lol would probably blow everything else out of the water in every single aspect.

  • @beshnola Hi… It is not only eating meat that contributed to a larger brain but cooked food… because it took less energy for our bodies to digest and process these food. Over the evolutionary process there was now more energy available to develop other organs and functions such as the size of our brains and intelligence. (As the theory goes). I am not a raw foodist but just inquiring on the potential benefits and weight management.

  • Cooked food is no longer a WHOLE food! And most raw fooder’s aren’t eating a healthy raw food diet, like 80/10/10.

Also, I can’t see why we would need MORE absorption of certain nutrients.

Nothing “wrong” with eating cooked food, but no one can argue that cooking food does not create toxins AND destroy nutrients! That’s basic logic!

Eating enough fruit! Eating carb based! Our natural diet MUST be a raw diet.

Good points in this vid nevertheless!

  • Sadhguru this diet plan is definitely healthy and I want to follow that but nowadays pesticides used on all the food items leave us helpless.. Things which look healthy are made unhealthy by such way..

  • It’s quite difficult to focus when there’s someone walking or moving whatever he’s doing! I couldn’t take him seriously! however when I tried only listening It all made sense! =]

  • Someone prepares a presentation by Googling 100 different videos this man memorizes it n reads infront of camera, add a bit of thadka using graphical images n bhakths go wah sadguruji…wah..

  • Sadhguru is such a blessing for the country.. I don’t agree with his views on the courts though.. (about outsourcing the judiciary to groups of untrained citizens.)

  • The only Disappointing Fact which I Personally Experienced with Raw Food that after eating them with in 1-2 hours I feel Very Hungry again…so can’t just eat them after every few hours.. not practically Possible for the Longer Run..

  • How could ever cooked food be superior to raw food? What nonsense about deficiencies is he talking about? Raw is the natural way, cooked is not. Everything else is just a load of BS and propaganda

  • “its not what you eat its what you absorb” yeah gregor and fruit is the easiest food for humans to digest and what were meant to eat. do a juice cleanse and clean your go tract and you’ll absorb everything well. also fruits and greens are poorly grown today so we need to supplement but that doesn’t mean we should eat cooked food that degrades them. now down to more detail. bonobos are our closest living relatives. they eat 98 % fruit. and biopjhotons. when we cook our food we destroy the sunlight energy contained within he food. were not supposed to cook our food. you miss the boat again https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jw9AjeiTEGY

  • im sorry guys i tried a cooked vegan diet even went completely oil free but my blood sugar problems were not going away and cooked potatoes and rice were plugging me up and spiking my blood sugar too much and even my doctor is recomment a keto diet saying i need protein from animals and that kind of thing no carbs no rice just kind of low carb is what she recommended but i dont like that idea so i switched from cooked vegan food to raw vegan food and my blood sugars started coming down and it all makes alot of sense like Liferegenerator says the oatmeal and all this cooked food thats the problem and cooked vegan food even oil free just was not giving me the normal blood sugars like a raw vegan salad was gues its like what all raw foodist say its just not substantial for diabetics all this cooked rice and cooked potatoes will plug you up and spike the blood sugar up because the body has to work harder to break down these complex carbohydrates you know it does make sense though when you think of it the body needs raw foods as it is in nature

  • I like the food and diet info, I only wish he would share info about molecular hydrogen for health. Here is a link that shows some of the powers of hydrogen and what it can do. https://youtu.be/t3HRJ8f9pTg
I’ve known people on a plant based diet and still not improving certain parts of their health and then hydrogen finally put them over hump and it appears to help absorption, which dr Gregor claims is really important!!!

  • Your speaking wishy washy.
You really don’t know Fruitariansim or raw vegans personally and make vague assumptions..
You keep going back to support the whole food diet because that is all you have really read about.
You have no personal testimonials from anyone and therefore are speculative..

  • Raw food is a no brainer, its how nature inteded for us to consume them. They have all the living life force nature provides, the active enzymes, phytochemicals, and many others that get destroyed in the cooking process. Now our body has to work significantly harder to assimilate, digest and absorb all the nutrients and the communication from food > body becomes 2nd hand.

  • Is Greger really this ignorant and uninformed or is he just another gatekeeper? I can’t be sure but to be clear, there are many definite life changing advantages of a raw vegan diet over a cooked vegan diet. Primarily that you are not eating cooked food as is has been damaged by heat and is not good for you. Do your research people. It creates acrylamides, fats become carcinogenic, we are not able to properly digest grains, nutrients are destroyed, and on and on. Don’t believe this guy when he says long term raw vegans don’t do well. If they do it right they are the healthiest among us as it is ours human species specific diet. If you’re interested in the benefits of a raw vegan diet go watch youtube videos by John Rose, Tanny Raw, Doug Graham or Jack Albritton. Read the book 80/10/10 by Doug Graham. And finally, don’t believe me or any of them… Just go try it for yourself and see what you think. I was cooked vegan for 10 years and when I finally went raw, after an initial detox period, I never felt better in my life. My energy was much better, I slept better, my skin looked better, my athletic performance skyrocketed; it was life-changing to say the least and it will be for you to if you do it right.

  • Row food decreases food choices like grains and beans which are healthy. Row mushroom is toxic but cooked mushroom have anticancer properties. So combination of row and cooked food is best

  • I’ve been addicted to pain pills the last five years. Nothing I did made me feel good enough to get off the poison. I finally did a ton a research on vitamins, nutrients, raw foods etc. the best and easiest way to get all the raw food in u is to juice most of it. I’ve been on a raw food diet for one week now and lost 20 pounds and cut my dose of pills in half! This is the cure that alcoholics and addicts of all kind need! Not just for cancer and weight loss but for all physical and mental healt

  • A whole cup of raw carrots is the same as half a cup of cooked??? Sooooooo eat a full cup of cooked is equivalent to 2 cups of raw? Is that what you are telling people?

  • I agree with everything except the protein “Myth”. Humans do not need to seek protein. Proteins are chains of amino acids. There are 24 amino acids essential to the human body, 12 of which we produce ourselves and the other 12 we need to consume. Raw Fruits and leafy Greens have all the amino acids we need in the form of live enzymes. There has never been a case of protein deficiency in medical history, and excess protein has been linked to many diseases. Living food for the living body

  • It may take the same time to prep your cooked food as preparing your raw food. I’m considering going raw this was somewhere helpful. I already knew most of the content. Thanks for sharing.

  • To fight stage 4 lung cancer I made 39 diet and lifestyle changes. Plant based raw food and no refined sugar was 1st change. Given 3 months to live in feb 2017. Today happily tumourfreetim
What is fastest way to beat cancer? https://youtu.be/pRRbcVo4cBQ

  • I just ate mostly raw for a few months earlier this year, but it’s getting colder again, so I’m back on cooked starch to get more calories. Though I never read that becoming raw book Dr.Greger, I was able to get my daily dozen, by sprouting grains, beans and seeds.

  • Guys, build muscle does not have to be hard (I used to feel it did). I’ll give you some advice right now. Look for a diet plan known as Proladox Diet Plan (google it). Seriously, that course has changed my life. I probably shouldn’t even be talking about it cause I do not want a bunch of other folks out there running the same “game” but whatever, I am just in a great mood today so I’ll share the wealth haha.

  • So are you saying that before humans dominated fire to cook their foods, everyone, for millions of years, had nutritional deficiencies? LOL. Ah men I used to like you!

  • “cooked food is good because there are a few vegetables who got unessential nutrients that increase in bioavailability”
    (y) solid logic

  • I think you are misinterpreting the word Vegan, a Raw Vegan is one who does not eat grains, sugar, caffeine, alcohol, or processed foods, Dairy, Meat, Eggs, this is what a Raw Vegan eats or does not eat so we are not eating ice cream, our Vegan Ice-cream is frozen bananas, we do not eat donuts or marshmallows, un-raw vegans eat other processed foods that are cooked, whole food raw is good, mixed raw cooked Vegan is best with oils and B-12 supplements

  • Canadian here. Free health care ain’t so free anymore. I swear someone is wearing a blindfold and throwing darts to decide what they will or won’t cover.

  • Question: is all processed food equal? Hummus is a large part of my diet. I’ve become a total obsessive about reading labels since becoming Vegan last summer and am very careful about what I buy. I also have a full-time job and two Autistic teens, so in the interest of convenience I still buy canned beans on occasion and eat a lot of hummus (because I love it).

  • I’m a whole foods gluten free vegan and less than 5% of my diet is processed foods. It works for me:) And I’m only gluten free because I have an allergyI don’t necessarily think gluten free oatmeal is healthier than regular oatmeal. It does help me avoid a lot of the processed things-like vegan cookies, vegan chicken nuggets, etc.

  • lol… he totally got me there! As an ethics-based vegan, I’ve been all for fries, mock meat, mock cheese, beer, Tequila and smokes… I just turned 30 so maybe it’s time to change that.:D

  • Hello one question, because my english is not the best. I have
understand, that the adventist the longest living people on the earth, but the healthiest people on Earth? And when you not eat bad things like vegan ice, vegan cookies and other bad thinks, then is cookes vegan food good, maby mixes with raw things. Is this the context?

  • I’d be bored rotten eating a raw diet, because I adore cooking and do it every day. I love being vegan, but eating only raw food doesn’t interest me at all.

  • can anybody explain me why does he look so sick?
Dont just listen to the words but look at the result of the person speaking them!

  • Dude, concerning Annette Larkins, why did you not mention the amount of distilled water she’s been on? She cites that as her fountain of youth even more than her raw diet. Cmon vegans… nobody is talking about the state of our water!! lol

  • I added steamed greens to my raw diet when I learned that humans don’t have the same hind gut fermentation capacity like apes do. It made the most sense. I’ve also put my diet into cronometer and it seems to be complete except for vitamin b12 and D, which I supplement.

  • I really like this interview, thank you. I love his attitude in this. whatever way will get you, to stuff more fruits and vegetables in your face.

  • just because cooking and vegetable releases more vitamins does not mean that your body needs more vitamins a tomato in its raw form is the most perfect nature’s package to want to get more out of it is ridiculous

  • the raw plant food diet contains all the protein needed for health. also there are plenty of athletes who are living testimonies to the raw plant food diet. i go to the blog on the rawforlife website for thoroughly researched information. hope this helps

  • I’m on week 2 no meat. I’ve completely cut out anything processed. Although today I’m not feeling too well I won’t go back. I definitely feel much better.

  • Research Dr. Sebi & Aris Latham who have been 100% Raw fooders for over 40 years with no B12 supplements… both are pushing 80 yrs old and have no deficiencies whatsoever. They prove this with facts in their books. Dr. Sebi cures aids every day. Also research Karyn Calabrese who’s been Raw for 30 + years with no B12 or any other type of supplements and she’s in perfect health with no deficiencies and she proves it with medical facts. Cooked foods & starches are binding, acidic and alter your DNA fact.

  • Awesome video! Thank you for this. I have always wondered and nothing quite as cool as getting to watch and learn from the Doc when on the treadmill.:-)

  • a little cooked vegetables is ok but grains, most starch and processed food dehydrates us,and makes our system work hard to digest and there very addictive once you add sauces and condiments to make them taste good and most people like myself have a hard time only eating small amounts

  • All ok, but… The book by Vesanto Melina “Becoming Raw” is not a good reference. It based on theory mostly. Meal plans are very strange for me. Too many fats…

  • It would be a shame for you not to shed pounds when these people burn fat so easily using “Fat Blast Formula” (check it out on Google).

  • This is why there is nothing wrong with eating processed food. Processed food is usually fortified with essential vitamins making sure that you are not nutrient deficient. Vegan junk food may be unhealthy but people will eat junk food anyway, so vegan junk food helps reduce animal suffering. I don’t mind indulging in a vegan hamburger every now and then.

  • Wow, I never knew you could actually get more nutrients from some vegetables when you cook them.  Good to know!  I’m wondering if the raw food vegans aren’t taking any vitamins.

  • If it’s not making your hair grow back count me out… most men of the Caribbean are not bald… your missing something brah and don’t get me that genetics crap.

  • Raw food is great especially grown without chemical weapons of mass destruction…..
We as human beings in the evolution derived our needs from plants…….
    Let us live with nature…
The message ancient sages is very simple….
Follow nature, live, love and die for nature….
    Please explore your self…

  • 1. Dr. Greger would be one to benefit the most of using Google Glasses! He could do long walks outside while staying connected with the world:-)
    2. I’m pretty sure those “deficient” raw vegans were just not eating enough: it’s very common for vegans not to eat enough, as the volumes required are way bigger than on usual diets. I’d like to see a study on “30baders” and “rawtill4ers”…

  • I’m am a mix. I eat a raw vegan breakfast, smoothies, snacks, and lunch, but I cook a whole foods plant based dinner. My husband isn’t eating a plate of raw zucchini noodles with cold sauce. . I think, as with most things in life, it’s about balance.

  • Hey guys, here’s a FREE eBook for you’ll learn about what we call ”The-Raw-Food-Diet” Hope you enjoy it and remember to share!

    http://healthytipsdiet.com/The-Raw-Food-Diet-Free-eBook.pdf

  • The “dirty dozen” has been debunked a million times and studies have found that the foods on the “good list” tend to have more pesticide residue on them then the ones on the “dirty dozen” list….besides the fact that organic produces is coated with natural pesticides like neem oil and organic produce also buys their non-synthetic fertilizer AKA animal poop from animal agriculture farms and often buy things like blood meal and whatever other waste they have. Just an FYI, i’m not a vegan nor do I eat animal products. I am Whole Food Plant Based and transitioning to raw.

  • can anybody explain me why does he look so sick?
Dont just listen to the words but look at the result of the person speaking them!

  • im sorry mic but raw vegan in my opinion is better because you start seeing the blood sugar coming down on a raw vegan diet
faster within 2 days i was eating rice and potatoes and everything i was a cooked vegan but blood sugar was not coming down quite frankly i believe my body does not do good on cooked food and it just spikes too much its just not that effective at curing diabetes like a raw vegan diet will.

  • Excellent work! Even though there are five of each, the five Pros are more significant than the five Cons. For example, the #1 Con, “toxins”, applies to every diet there is. It’s not exclusive to raw. The con called “Dogma” is just a bit of social pressure and carries little weight against the Pro of “loads of anti-oxidants” for example. A related Pro is that of digestive enzymes, which get killed in the cooking process.

  • As long as you’re careful to get enough calories and nutrients, you do you. I did it in high school and lost 30lbs and kept it off for a few years. Definitely wasn’t eating enough tho, I napped alllll the time. It’s too expensive for me to attempt now

  • veganic, grow your own, neighborhood share, communal gardening, wild gathering. many weeds that people generally ignore are edible.

  • Mic, you have such beautiful eyes, and such a beautiful beard, and such interesting scientific facts! If I ever turned vegan you’d be my guru! I just have one really honest and non-threatening question after watching this video: the timeline you showed about cooking food through History, how does it apply to food-cooking, yet not to meat eating?

  • I suffered low energy, pallor, loose teeth and hair falling out on raw. I was believing it was THE diet for health. What I learned from Chinese Medicine, and I think they are correct, that raw diets done too long harm your health. You become “too yin” and get deficiency. Weaker digestion, loss of heat. It’s not good. Once I started eating warming foods with warming herbs I felt much better. Raw foodists cannot eat cooked beans and grains or potatos thus they are missing out on important foods in the vegan diet. And it’s very expensive as well and time consuming.

  • Humanity will go vegan, if not for compassion it will be because eat meat is not an option for the environment. Nowadays 2/3 of humans don’t eat meat, because of religion, poverty, cultural habit or other reasons. In the future, after generations and generations of veganism, probably Nature will change back our genetic to turn possible to have a 100% raw diet like we had in the distant past, and like all the other animals on Earth have, except that ones that are fed by humans.

  • Missed pros and conswinter/summer months! Tough to eat raw during cold seasons I find it very challenging. And not sure if it’s a good thing??

  • I think the most reasonable balance between the two would be cooked starches, raw everything else. (Besides mushrooms, those are healthiest after being gently cooked.)
You CAN sprout grains and legumes, but it’s a bit time consuming, and I personally find the sprouted grains/legumes much less filling.
Ezekiel Bread is about as “raw” as bread gets, being made entirely with sprouted grains, and cooked VERY gently and minimally (at only 270 degrees in their oven.) Slow and gentle cooking will always preserve more nutrients.

  • “CONCLUSIONS:
The consumption of a raw food diet is associated with a high loss of body weight. Since many raw food dieters exhibited underweight and amenorrhea, a very strict raw food diet cannot be recommended on a long-term basis.”

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10436305

“Shifting to the uncooked vegan diet significantly increased the intakes of energy and many nutrients. In spite of the increased energy intake, the group on the vegan diet lost 9% of their body weight during the intervention period, indicating a low availability of energy from the vegan diet.”

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8269890

” Changing the ratio of raw food intake toward an extreme regimen with a very low intake of vitamin B-12 may be harmful in the prevention of coronary heart disease rather than providing additional benefits as occurs with milder dietary regimens.”

  • Pro tip, get buckets, fill them with soil and plant something, water like once a week or whatever it requires and you save some money.

  • Raw is cool. Can also be really healthy if one watches the calories. Doesn’t make sense to me though to only eat lots of healthy stuff but still skip some other healthy stuff. If you care about nutrient loss, STEAM INSTEAD OF COOK, people! I think it’s a good guideline to eat 2/3rds or 3/4th raw when doing WFPB. But I’ll never stop eating cooked/steamed legumes, veggies and whole grains. Makes no sense to stop that stuff. Also some stuff is better raw, some is better cooked, carrots for example.

  • he didn’t say nothing different from a nutritionist or alimentar pyramid, because you had to eat 5/6 portion of fruits or vegatables in a day, and that’s probably like the 40%

  • imo there isnt a ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way to eat since we are all different people with very different genetics. Some people digest everything very well, like huge quantity of meat and fats, whle others, like me, have a hard time digesting animal protein and fat rich foods. That’s why i went partially raw (60-70%) because raw foods are so easy to digest and make me feel good. You just have to listen to your body

  • Thank you for actually talking about the pros and cons of a raw diet and not push it in a way that makes it seem like the only way to be healthy.

  • If some of the people eating raw are failing doesnt mean the diet is bad. This is no proof go study the successful raw foodists like john rose amd kther people eating this diet for more than 30 years. Also studies shiw that less than 1% of the nutrients in raw foods become more available when cooking. And there is the issue of biophotons which are completely distroyed when cooking anything. I didnt see dr greger prove anything really except that he found some study on raw people who are not successful. Did they document what they were eating daily? Guess not

  • My whole food vegan diet fallback is totally not French fries.
    …oreos…
If anything, this video encourages me to not buy the oreos.

  • I personally fell my best eating a mostly raw diet with lots of fruit, but I 100% acknowledged that not everyone is the same! It makes me really sad to see some the raw vegan “community” being so judgemental towards someone just because the started eating cooked foods, everyone is truely very different, although I do believe that every human has to ability to thrive on a vegan diet, whatever diet that happens to be is no one else’s business really but the person eating that certain way

  • I really wanna go raw for a few weeks, once when I’m on holiday or live somewhere warmer where a lot of yummi fruit grows!:D but I really wanna try it

  • I don’t believe humans are intended to heat their food, just cuz it’s been discovered that cooking was ‘invented’ up to 2mil years ago.
There’s no other living being that is cooking and from the natural point of view it simply makes no sense.

  • The way I see it, you should still include raw foods into your diet but you don’t need to make it an arbitrarily limitation. Definitely good to get a mix of both in my opinion.

  • Last Friday I was on my 11 day of raw vegan, I don’t know what happened but the day ended in a binge eating, and the next one, and yesterday I decided that I wanted to go back because I was feeling amazing, but I ended up eating a lot again. I felt terrible, I have troubles with food, and I truly believe I can solve them eating fully raw for a while, so I’m not gonna judge myself for what I did, I can’t change it, it’s in the past, but I can change what’s going to happen so that’s what I’m gonna do. Thank you so much for this video, you look stunning!

  • good vid. first pro con i have watched. the social comments were wasted (fruit festivals). also it is stated the food has been cooked prior to homosapian existence. love the vid

  • You are assuming Human Evolution as in Darwin took place sometime in the past. I’m not saying the myth is wrong but it may not be for the reasons you think. Consider, we know overcooking food is bad, burning food is bad and most of us health conscious vegans dont over cook our food but do a lot of steaming or boiling, processes that don’t really destroy the food or change it’s chemical composition much so our bodies don’t have a problem with it. Couple this with the cooking helps us to break down and assimilate certain foods and Poof, no human evolution needed.

  • Additional pro: loads more energy cause less energy used to digest food for the calories
con: social pressures, lack of food availability at restaurants, perfectionism

  • Organic is the only way to go for me. I do my best to go Non-GMO and Organic with as much as possible. It doesn’t have to be expensive either, if you buy in season, go to farmer’s markets, etc.

Toxins are horrible for your body and they can keep you from losing weight. Love that plant-based, raw diets actually solve our huge problem of diabetes.

It doesn’t have to be expensive. You just have to look at what you can get and what you can afford. You don’t have to buy raw nut butter to go raw. You can buy plants and many other raw foods without going broke.

Personally, I love the idea of going raw, but not 100%. I like the idea of about 80% to 90% raw as that one or two hot meals here and there are very good, imho.

  • …I think you need to do more research. Gaining weight = consuming more calories (energy) than you expend. Losing weight = expending more energy than you consume.

  • 5:54 This is in no way meant to sound negative at all, I’m actually really curious why is it that we have evolved to eat cooked food after so much time but not meat, is it due to less time or have we actually evolved to eat meat just done so poorly? similar to the panda who used to eat meat but now eats primarily bamboo but digests it poorly??? (Read that statement a while ago, can’t remember where from so i may be incorrect about it)

  • con number 6 using plastic straws. tons of these are plastic waste. i believe there a metal straws now. reusable and cleanable. i don’t use straws of any type they push air into the stomach. you suck air into your stomach every time you take a sip. think on it. i eat vegan about 80 per cent cooked 20 per cent raw in winter, then in summer it pretty much reverses. more raw in the heat. vegan peace.

  • this is definitely correct. If a raw diet was so super perfect you would be seeing raw foodists living to over 105 in thriving health. People have been doing raw food eating for a long time and why can’t u find at least a handful of raw foodists living to over 100 years looking young and strong? Focusing on WHOLE foods with at least 60% raw is good enough. No need to try and live 100% raw.

  • using a straw for sugary drinks will not prevent tooth decay! tooth rot is from calcium being drawn out of bones and soft tissues to neutralize the acid in the blood caused by the sugar. vitamin k2 is the best remedy.

  • Hey Mic, Can you please make a video focusing on the negative effects of sugar? It’s been very difficult for me to give it up when going whole food vegan,

  • I eat raw until dinner then I have a cooked dinner. Just refrain from potatoes. Anyone who sees this make sure you do research on what foods add to the mucus in your system like potatoes. A rawist did die from eating a baked potato after eating raw for so long. Just avoid mucus-y cooked foods if you need a cooked meal

  • The MAIN reason that the majority can’t do raw long term (5-10 years or more) is because of the most important nutritional fundamental for survival: SUFFICIENT CALORIES. 100% raw requires much more effort than adding cooked whole carbs in.

  • Mic. the Vegan, I like your video(s), but where I live near Boston, MA New England USA bananas are only $0.49/lb which makes them the cheapest food in the entire grocery store. I’ve been vegan since 1990, single mom working part-time since 1989, and high-raw since 1999; so, I’m just saying it’s not expensive to be raw-vegan (or vegan). In fact it’s cheap, at least for me. Just sayin.

  • I just don’t believe in the all of one type of food diet. I eat meat but the MAJORITY of my daily food is raw.
Raw carrots, celery flank steak, red grapes!

  • All fruits and vegetables have amino acids the can use to make protein. Each fruie and vegeatbles have oxygen, nitrogen, and other molcules the body can use to make amino acids. Nuts and seed are high in good healthy fats.

  • I think most of the benefits raw vegans see from their diet is caused by the low calorie intake and high amounts of antioxidants. Refined sugars, tobacco, and alcohol destroy your body. If you don’t do anything else you should stop consuming those three things.

  • Interesting. I had a Marie Callender’s Turkey Pot Pie commercial right before this video started. And they say vegans force their views on others. Also interesting, this video.

  • I was told that leafy greens are made up of protein (amino acids). And if you eat a variety of leafy greens you will get the essential amino acids (protein) that you need.

  • Beautiful information and valuable indeed, informative.

  • Careful with uncooked rice eating. My sign other ended up going to a doctor because of stomach pains after eating uncooked rice all week. It is terrible for birds because it swells in the stomach. People are cautioned to refrain from throwing rice at weddings now.

  • see she knows more than me but I know something she doesn’t know is that the body only needs about 3,4, or 5% of protein, well here is the kicker plants all have veggie plants I do not know about fruit, but vegi plants all have 5% protein what we need, wow wasn’t our creator smart

  • Great Information!

I have almost ruined myself by dieting in order to reduce weight and my family was very worried, because i use to gain and loose weight abruptly.

Luckily, I started using this “How To Eat” mobile app by lokesh which made me eat the right foods and in right way and using a game like points etc.and made it funny!

now, i have reduce weight in a clean way.

    Cheers!

  • Great Information, thank you!

  • letting the rice soak over nights just to eat and save nutrients in it sounds sort of pointless to me.. Just cook it lol. You’ll be getting healthy carbohydrates from it anyways.

  • Aim to increase the percentage of raw food/unprocessed food from wherever you’re at now, to 80% or so raw. Probably best to do it over time.. slowly adding more good items and dropping more bad items.. nuts are high in fat, but not the same kind of fat… greens have building blocks of protein that your body puts together.. especially with a squeeze of lemon juice..

  • My coworkers laughed when I told them I would burn up fat with “Lean Body Stagger”, but then I showed them the results. Do a search on google for “Lean Body Stagger” to see their reaction. (It was epic!)

  • It would be a shame for you not to lose pounds when these other normal people accomplish it so easily with Amos Fat Loss (check it out on Google).

  • The key is to sprout seeds. All meat and milk products cause an immune response. It is your body but your choice to eat slaughtered animals. Perhaps people would think twice if they actually did the raising, killing, gutting and cleaning of the animals themselves. Soylent Green anyone?

  • Hi, have you seen Lean Body Blaster? (Google it) You will discover the crimes we commit against ourselves. With Lean Body Blaster, you will discover how to burn calories quickly.

  • If you are looking to burn off fat quickly, you should search google for Cosmos Fat Loss. They can guide you and help you get the body you deserve.

  • There is cooked, raw, and a third category PREPARED raw FOODS.
Fermenting, culturing, pickling, canning and the like let the bugs and little critters predigest and add their own enzymes to the mix. Plus, after some getting used to, tastes awesome and great for the gut bugs and digestion. Learn to love Sauerkrauts, Kimchi, Kefirs and you will really thrive.
    peace

  • It would be a shame for you not to burn fat when these other people are able to melt fat so easily using Fat Blast Factor (search for it on google).

  • Soaking beans overnight will not make them edible raw. Many beans are toxic raw! (lectin poisoning.) If you want to eat beans, you have to soak them overnight and then sprout them for several days. Lentils are your safest bet and easiest to sprout.

  • Warnings, and a guide to a successful and healthy life-long vegan diet:
A raw vegan diet is not for everyone. My mom is vegan like me but she can’t handle raw vegetables (all organic and freshly picked from our garden by the way). Every time she eats raw veggies, she’d get stomach discomfort and she has to take a hot cup of double-strength ginger tea to warm up her stomach in order to make the discomfort to quickly dissipate away. So she always eat cooked veggies with added ginger with each “steaming hot” meals. If you had ever go to a Chinese restaurant, especially in Hong Kong and most Cantonese owned restaurants, almost all of them would add a few slices of ginger in their stir-fried vegetables to counteract the cool effect of the veggies.

In Chinese Medicine, foods also has an extra dimension to them apart from their antioxidant and nutritional contents that is not known in modern nutritional science but as you’ll see later that it provides vital knowledge for you to determine if you’re suitable for raw foods or cooked foods as well as what types of plants is more suitable for you. According to Chinese Medicine, most leafy green vegetables and melons (with the exception of Kale and Chinese broccoli) are classed as cool foods, whereas ginger, turmeric, galangal, cinnamon, hot chili peppers, pepper corn, cilantro, garlic, scallion, chives, leek and onions are classed as warm to hot foods, with the hottest being cinnamon, hot chili peppers and pepper corn.

So according to Chinese Medicine, each meal should have an appropriate ratio of cool and hot foods types, depending on your body condition at a certain time. If you’re more sensitive to cool foods, like my mom, then you should not force yourself to eat a raw diet but should eat cooked foods with plenty of gingers and/or other warm/hot foods mentioned above. If you force yourself to go raw when it clearly is not right for you, then you’ll get sick very fast. If your body condition at the time is hot, then a raw vegan diet is the most beneficial to you. All this is not just a theory. It is evidence-based medical knowledge that has been known for thousands of years ago in China, and is something to be taken seriously if you are choosing whether you want to go raw vegan or cooked vegan foods.

Bottom line is that every body can go vegan, but you must know your body type (either cool, neutral or hot) and then eat foods that gives the opposite effect to balance your body condition out. If you’re body type is neutral, which most young people are, then you’re likely to be handle any kinds of foods without having to balance the warm and cool foods. But once you’re in your 70s you’re more likely to be either having a cold or hot body type and you will need to choose food types more appropriately in order to enjoy optimum health from the vegan foods you eat.

Postpartum period for most women tends to be that of a cold body type and hence requires cooked foods with a lot of hot/warm food types included in each meals, such as peppercorn or hot chili pepper and ginger all the way through this period.

Finally, most elderly in their 80s and 90s tend to lack the ability to generate enough body heat and so eating a cold, raw diet (especially in the middle of winter) is going to be very taxing on the body because the cold foods they eat will force their aging body to crank up all the aging mitochondria in every cells of their body to heat up the cold foods to body temperature. This is very taxing on an elderly body given that they hardly have enough energy devoted to proper digestion, let alone having to supply extra energy to heat the raw foods and drinks up to body temperature.

According to statistics, more elderly people die during winter and especially in the middle of the night than any other time of year, because that is the coldest hours of the 24 hour cycle. So they basically died from the lack of ability to generate enough body heat to keep adequate blood circulation so that a stroke can happen whilst they are asleep. Hence, the elderly should be served cooked hot foods, not raw, in order for them to conserve as much body heat as possible to prolong their lifespan as much as possible. The “ability” to generate body heat and hence blood flow is called Qi (or Chi) in Chinese Medicine, and elderly people usually has significantly diminishing Qi already. Wherever Qi moves inside the body, blood follows. If Qi gets too weak, blood will likely form clogs and a stroke is inevitable. Qi is the life force that keeps us and every other animals alive. In other words, Qi only exist when we are alive. Once we are dead, Qi no longer exist in the body.

  • Pretty sure this is not healthy. Too much meat is linked to heart disease and cancer. Prehistoric humans ate way less meat than we do and ate alot more nuts and fruit.

  • Great stuff. That said, I don´t really enjoy the treadmill style interview, seems a little like if he can´t be bothered to stop for 5 minutes to answer the questions… and the sound complicated my understanding of answers. I don´t mean to be negative, just 2 observations that if adressed would make this interview a materpiece. But thanks a lot!

  • Does it really matter if you denature the enzymes by cooking the food?? Because I’m pretty sure that as long as the amino acids remain intact, you’ll have all the proteins you will need…

  • For protein try Hemp protein powder. Its amazing, has all the amino acids (important for building muscle) and lots of other nutrients.

  • Meat should also be consumed as raw as possible.
Vitamin B12 is directly linked to mental health. The source of B12 in your diet is probably meat, 90% of it is destroyed if you cook the meat well done.
You should only drink food, so not drink water. You can drink vegetable juice or dairy. Milk is a living fluid with bacteria, enzymes, proteins, fats, sugars, and other nutrients. All of those beneficial things arent there because they’re destroyed if you drink cooked/pasteurized milk.

  • I agree with this, now what about in the winter months in northern climates where everyone is eating cooked meals and more meat? Is there a such thing as eating according to the seasons? Different countries have different climates so would certain food and at certain times of the year be better or worse than other times and places i the world? What about the concept of mineral depletion in the soil? How does that affect the quality of our food?

  • @DrummerChickxx Vitamin B12 is neither produced by animal nor plant but by bacteria and is actually synthesized in our own small intestines. As long as you eat a variety of raw fruits and vegetables you will be giving your body all the essential nutrients it needs to thrive. If you are still concerned about B12 deficiency then drink Raw Kombucha, it has live enzymes and B12. For complete Raw Vegan Nutritional guidance I highly recommend reading The 80/10/10 by Dr. Douglas N Graham. Good Luck.

  • If you are vata type. Experiment eating only raw food on yourself for 10 days, you will end up destroying yourself for the whole life, unless you strictly follow routine for months to balance the doshas.
Experiment this and see. Ayurveda never recommends raw diet to vata Dosha
He has some great speaking skills which pretend that he also has some knowledge.
Trantriks have been harming people since ages, no matter what he says he is none other than a tantrik. “BEWARE PLEASE”.

  • @TheAmericanOriginal Seriously? You need to be told how to start? Here is how……go to the store, buy some lettuce……eat it. That is how you start.

  • @LeppardPrintAnimal You don’t even know me to know what i eat, so is there any need in that comment? And if food was ‘poisonous’ then surely everyone eating it would be dead.

  • @RosieLeighGreen then your original comment missed the point. You can have an extremely varied raw diet, and alot of people want to eat this way. If you prefer to keep on stuffing your face with poisonous rubbish, go ahead.

  • The protein thing is nonsense. You don’t NEED seeds or beans for this. Gorillas, horses, etc get all the amino acids they need from veggies. How does she think a cow gets so big? It didn’t get the protein to grow so big by eating another cow, or beans did it? It got that big from grass.

  • Raw vegan cannot be called anti cancerous diet. Cancer is cased by bad emotional vibrations (ex. Long term stress, prolonged deep unhappiness) and poisonous food (meat, processed and cooked food). If the diet is changed cancer can be reversed yes, however if the cancer is caused by emotional disfunction it won’t be enough. Spiritual peace is crucial to life just as good live food.

  • @TerryNoble actually if you eat fish today you are asking for trouble GMO salmon is good eat it 😉 Watch raw for 30 that is about the only thing that works for diabetics.

  • Hello, have you discovered Fat Blast Furnace? (just google it) You will learn about the serious crimes we commit against our bodies. With Fat Blast Furnace, you will discover how to lose weight fast.

  • Theres is protein in EVERY FRUIT AND VEGETABLE ON THE PLANET you idiot! ONly 6% OF YOUR DIET NEEDS TO BE PROTEIN. Learn REAL human nutrition before speaking on it

  • So what did the Jews eat on Passover? What did Abraham eat with the 3 angels? What smell did God find very enjoyable? What did Jesus eat after his resurrection? A careful study of the Bible reveals that God is pro meat and dairy. But we know from Scientific studies that the Vegan lifestyle is the most healthy. So what can we conclude? The Bible is BS because God does not know about a healthy diet.

  • I think I would do a “mostly” raw food diet and I’d just eat cooked beans… soaking them would take too long! Garbanzo beans and black beans are my favorites.

  • 3:13 when I was eating plant based I felt exactly this way. I was tired and felt heavy. You don’t know what works for other people. When I started eating meat again, I was more energized, had more mental clarity and my body felt a lot healthier. I don’t believe that all human beings are meant to be eating plant based.

  • another con is extremely low fat intake unless you smash the nuts and avocado, but most raw vegans advocate for hclf which is kinda unhealthy lol

  • I can definitely say that a raw food diet of 7-10 cups of leafy greens a day and 2 cups of fruit a day will make you want to workout like a mad man. I’ve tried it and it is amazing how much stronger you will feel. I was able to work out harder and longer, I felt like I went super Saiyan.

  • You definitely have inspired me to eat more fruit! Where i live the fruit isnt that sweet, we have a wide selection but im often disappointed. Right now cotton candy grapes are in and beautiful melons. I think I drink more water than I eat fruit but i want to change that! thank you♥️

  • I love the light feeling of eating raw. However, I don‘t feel best raw I feel terrible if I do it for more days some days in a row for a „cleanse“ is optimal, but not long term especially for me.
It messes my digestion, I get constipated a little, I don‘t feel like digestive juices flowing when eating.
Literally it caused me to binge on junk, happened so many times and now I‘ve found the optimal diet for me: 95% cooked, green juices, some raw mono meal in summer, fats, carbs and protein in every meal, but not dinner to sleep better (typically high carb with veggies).
Just my experience.:) However, high carb is key. Period!

  • Nothing new!! This has been profeyssed by Ayurveda thousands of years before. Go through vaghbada sookthas. If you want latest, you can go through the books of Swami Shvandanda. Or The lecture series of Swami Nirmalandagiri. And Rajiv Dixit’t lectures too.

  • Sorry but that looks so disgusting
Raw meat may contain harmful bacteria including Salmonella, Listeria, Campylobacter and E. coli that can cause food poisoning. These bacteria are destroyed when meat is correctly cooked.

  • Imma tell yu one thing. You need taste there’s more then raw meat there’s pizza kfc mc Donald’s you don’t need raw meat you need taste but maggots oh no no no oh no that nope that is so so gross why do you eat that eww ok yeah taste woudo be better you can but like ehh

  • I see nothing wrong with this. All of the meat comes from a clean fresh animal and is always in a 100 percent controlled environment after he dispatches.

  • Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee7eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew

  • Everyone talking about the smoothie, and all the raw meat. But my dude really just said he has FUN BUTCHERING ANIMALS IN HIS BACKYARD.

  • Hey, have you thought about this thing called the SkinniMaker Diet? (look it up on google). My father in law says it helps people burn fat.

  • His breath must stink . Did anyone else notice how healthy his skin looked?
Super strong teeth. Wolf reincarnated. I would poop myself meeting him as i gotta a lot of meat on me.
