Video taken from the channel: It’s a Hard Crohn’s Life

Probiotics are a promising potential treatment for depression and other mental health conditions. But more research is needed to fully understand how effective they are. In the meantim. A new review of preliminary medical literature has suggested that probiotics foods or supplements containing microbes thought to exert a positive influence on our gut could help ease depression. Many different probiotics can help anxiety and depression.

However, studies tend to focus on a limited number of easily-accessible strains. Lactobacillus helveticus (L. helveticus) and Bifidobacterium longum (B. longum. Probiotic supplements have been a promising area of research that focuses on the microbiota-gut-brain axis, the connection between beneficial gut microbes living in the gut and physical and mental. Psychobiotics are intestinal bacteria with proven mental health benefits.

Help reduce anxiety and depression with the right probiotics and prebiotic foods. What You’ll Learn Here There’s a. A 2011 study found that taking a probiotic pill with a meal or 30 minutes before a meal (but not 30 minutes after) is the optimal way to keep all the benefits of probiotic supplements.

By relieving IBS, probiotics may give patients a mental boost, the researchers said. Probiotics “directly improve depression,” the study authors concluded. But the supplements can also alleviate depression by improving conditions such as IBS that indirectly cause worry and anxiety. Since the gut and brain are connected, and gut bacteria produce substances that can influence the brain, probiotics may benefit the brain and mental health. Probiotics that benefit mental.

However, probiotics are probably not a substitute for standard care such as cognitive behavioral therapy, or FDA-approved drugs to treat depression or anxiety. More research as needed. Summary: Brain and gut health are strongly connected.

Taking certain probiotics may promote better mental health by reducing anxiety, sadness, depression and other symptoms.

Greetings from Virginia, The United States of America.

  • Great stuff! What can I eat if I am following KETO diet and having SIBO? I eat mostly meat and eggs, very few vegggies, no fruit. Very few diary. Thank you!

  • I suffered from severe brain fog…all my life I was drinking alcohol…then suddenly I sttopoed alcohol…but later I came to know that…I olso had grade 2 fatty liver…..2 years later…my symptoms are much less…thanks god

  • Serotonin in the future does not go through blood-brain barrier, but cause inflammation in the gut. So gut serotonin is not good for you.

  • Hi,
I feel difficult to read and listen anything even I can’t concentrate on anything even I have no interest in anything even in the things which was pleasure to me even I’m writing this I face difficulty in my focus is this brain fog???? And it is very difficult to explain because I’m not feeling any good things or even bad my mind is not working n I also face difficulty in to recall my memories or anything pls help pls

  • wait a second I do believe there is some yogurts with both probiotics and prebiotics if am not mistaken so my daughter with social anxiety depression ocd  should maybe put more yogurt into daily diet then???

  • I went to my neurologist a few years ago and asked if my Vagus Nerve could be affecting my Fibromyalgia, Mitochondrial Myopathy, and Traumatic Brain Injury thru my gut. He got really nervous, called his nurse and they took me into his office and closed the door. They asked how I knew about the Vagus Nerve, they were angry, they said I didn’t know what I was talking about, and that I should forget what I was talking about. They took me into another office and wanted me to discuss this with another one of the PA’s there. I left and never went back. How many physicians KNOW that the cures are easily found cutting their practices out of the profits to be made. Do I seem paranoid? Not really, just waking up to what the medical “industry” is doing, and how cures are not welcome. I eat my yoghurt, and have increased my probiotics, see my Naturopathic Doctor, and guess what? I’m getting better!

  • Thanks for the video content! Sorry for butting in, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you tried Patlarny Priceless minutes Principle (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a smashing one off product for curing panic attacks minus the headache. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my BF got cool results with it.

  • Everything she said is right and it is also very similar to inflammatory bowel disease (not irritable bowel) m suffering from inflammatory bowel and brain fog, anxiety, depression,no interest in anything plus severe joint pain and fatigue, i was undiagnosed for 10 years and it affected me very badly nearly took my vision too, but somehow i completed my mbbs and became a doctor, low sugar helps and m gonna try this apple cider and water.

  • A new environment might come with new microbes and therefore alleviate stress. I don’t know if the mice would know that, but the microbes might.

  • Wow ok.. What about that aggressive cage mate..a vid on increased bacteroides and closirdium and decreased coprococos Pseudobuts and Dorea specifically please…..cuz we all have one…whether family or frenemy…or…well…

  • Hi Dr Sinclair, Have you heard of Medical Medium? He says that brain fog is actually a liver problem and not gut related…. I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on this!

  • This Video makes a lot of sense however it is confusing to me. I always thought that our gut had too much acid with the,American diet anyway, and understood that Alkalizing the gut was better. So when you say to add yeast and more acid that is exactly what I have been afraid of. I thought yeast over growth was bad bacteria and came from too much sugar in the diet and casue bloating and inflammation. so this Fodmap diet is confusing and adding the supplement like yeast and alicin seems contradicting. Also Alicin comes from garlic and I thought that is not allowed on the FODMAP DIET

  • Check out http://www.gutbrainbenefit.com for incredible products that are having remarkable positive impacts for people experiencing a disbiosis in the GBX. This video is a great intro to the GBX & how our bodies are affected.
Amare does have specific strains of probiotics that impact our mental wellness!!!! AMAZING

  • This makes for two fecal transplant conversations in a row during lunch today…
I feel that i can relate to multiple parts of this video from being a cesarean birth, and have major issues be bound or restrained. I also can easily adjust to basically any environmental situation or living situation without it becoming to big of a problem. I in fact have a harder time going to a public place than facing complete power grid failure in the u.s. rational? Nope? Id help it if I can just figure out how. I can relate by feeling mentally terrible when I eat a poor diet. Depressed and lethargic and dim. I had internal chemical burns in the early two thousands and my digestive track no longer works right. When I have a steady intake of live culture yogurt and/ or Keefer, I have a much easier time of life internally and externally.

  • Great stuff! What can I eat if I am following KETO diet and having SIBO? I eat mostly meat and eggs, very few vegggies, no fruit. Very few diary. Thank you!

  • I honestly don’t know how I’m able to drive still and move around when I don’t feel like I’m here doing anything because of the brain fog, I’m really tired of it. It’s like I know to do things but I don’t feel present here doing it and it’s hard to feel emotions like it’s hard to actually feel happy or sad instead of forcing myself to try to be in the moment. I just want to be myself again. I want kids and a family of my own and I want to be able to enjoy the time with them

  • Thanks for watching! Do you relate to any of the symptoms of SIBO described in this video? Are you considering a low FODMAP diet or taking some probiotic-like yeast supplements? I’d love to hear from you. I’VE ADDED SOME FODMAP DIET INFORMATION IN THE DESCRIPTION. IT’S A GOOD STARTING RESOURCE

  • Dr janella sinclair doing good job, very informative, and appreaciate your straight on topic rather prolonging, BUT THE CONCERN IS SO MUCH EGO SOUND, PLEASE SET MIC NEAR TO NECK…

  • thanks for your video. just one advice. next time try to look at the camera lens instead of the monitor cause it feels like you are talking to someone else and we are just witnessing it. thanks again, keep it up the good work. peace and love

  • Great video, Dr. Janelle. All my research and experience indicates you are right on and I needed this little reminder. Thank you! Liked, subscribed, and belled!

  • The gut-brain axis is becoming more and more connected to mental health. The vagus nerve is like the highway between the guts and the brain.

  • Wow….happy to found your video i will giving this a try. Been suffer from panic disorder for a while and currently I’m taking serterline but didt help much. So finger crossed

  • I have really bad brain fog but it’s been stuck with me ever since I used to get High all the time off edibles I even thought I had brain damage and the hospital I went to couldn’t find what what wrong with me. Nobody takes me serious what do I do???

  • Research online Scientifically Proven as Our Lord Jesus blood type discovered in the Holy Eucharist as part of the Catholic Faith plus many more great Miracles in the Catholic Faith God Bless Take Care All ☘

  • I have struggle with brain fog for 5 years I’m a mom and is so awful to go everywhere and find no help this sounds better I’ll try it.

  • Also keep in mind, our gut is the brain we had before we had a brain. And plays a huge role in addiction, including cravings for sugar and other chemicals.

  • Idt it pays homage to pin it down to one detail or another.. IDK all I can tell you is that this is something about you that totally gives me the Amy Farrah Fowler vibe!! And I fking love it!!!! So, thank you for doing this job!!!! I hope you’re having a blast as much as I enjoy spectating!!!!!

  • So it seems like Panic attacks, anxiety and Depression may be merely symptoms of a biological root cause. I’m a GERD / Reflux struggler who later would suffer from low-blood-suger as well as Panic/anxiety attacks. Until now I never guessed that a possible gut imbalance may cause such health issues.

  • Hi Dr, I just watched your video about Brain Fog. I have been having that feeling for the past 6 months, it is getting worse when I concentrate too much on the computer, when hungry and when feeling sleepy. I also experience a lot of burp and farting after meals. I went to several doctors and specialist with no success, done MRI, CT Scan, blood test you name them. Please assist.

  • Stop with the hate. The girl has some really good information. Plus, I think if you put the speed of the video up to 1.5 she sounds nicer and smarter.

  • Doc I m not able to concentrate on my studies usually a week before my periods.my exams are due next week.i m from India. What may be the cause?? I m suffering from brain fog or PMS?? I m really worried about my exams. I just saw a ray of hope in u.plz do reply me I will be waiting

  • Hi Dr. Sinclair….i am from Barbados W.I……i realise of recently i have been experiencing some GERD issues….Bloating and Pain in the upper gut…..acid going back up the esophagus..Gas gurgling and also abnormal bowel movements…..this was cause by some antibiotic i told for an middle ear infection and chronic sinus issues….i am taking PPIs being that the LES might be inflammed, so i am hoping that two week medz would help so it can heal….i have constant headches…pain behind my eyes in which it is hard to concentrate, plus cervical neck and middle back pain….i came across this video and some of the symptoms i am experiencing is similar….i am at my whits end….

  • I suffered from severe brain fog…all my life I was drinking alcohol…then suddenly I sttopoed alcohol…but later I came to know that…I olso had grade 2 fatty liver…..2 years later…my symptoms are much less…thanks god

  • Doc, where I live we don’t have SACCHAROMYCES BOULARDII probiotic, instead we have a probiotic capsule composed with these following: Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus bulgaricus & Fructo-Oligosaccharides.

Should it help me reducing my gut problems?

  • SciShoe, please do a presentation on the Vagus system. I have just been introduced to it, told it probably figures largely in my mental heatflt struggles.

  • Hi doctor Sinclair, I have recently came to the decision to do a 180 degree turn around on my diet as I have been battling extreme brain fog for months I have cut out a lot of the main seeming causes such as sugars and gluten which I had extreme amounts of befire I had brain fog. I am now taking a range of supplements including cognitive function mastermind with a range of vitamins for brain health, turmeric for inflammation x3 a day. Adult blend probiotics. Oil of oregano supplements. Aswell as a herbal mixture including Gingko, Brahmi, Gotu kola, Rosemary, Sage, Arctic root, Cats Claw, Sida. I have incorporated more water and all organic food aswell into my diet and made sure to use mostly brain boosting foods in every meal aswell as apple cider vinegar once a day. I would really appreciate if u have any more tips in what else I should do to ensure a full recovery and how long this recover would roughly expect to take!
    Thank you!

  • Thank you for the great videos, you are much help to my problem, each video and a connection. In the past when i had my first major depressive episode i also had gastritis,i had take blood exams and i was low on b12,i had take a course of injections to restore to normal levels.I was never believe that could be another reason beyond genetics,my mom also suffer from depression.

  • im 22 years old and suffer from severe anxiety and panic attacks can i still take it or do i have to be older? Also, should itake them in the morning or at night? Thank you!!

  • Dear Janelle. Some time ago I asked you a question about histamine.
I have now discovered that I have MCAS, Mast cell activation syndrome. If you do not know that, it would be interesting, especially for your patients.

    Liebe Grüsse aus Zurich. Anita

  • Literally 3 1/2 years ago I had to go to a doctor because I was severely ill. He doesn’t go through insurance because he really tries to get to the root of the problem. He found out my whole GI tract was inflamed and I had horrible IBS (while my other dr just said pretty much that’s the way it is). When he told me that 80-85% of serotonin was made in my gut and could explain why I was so severely depressed and having over 10 panic attacks a day. Once he worked on helping heal my gutI honestly had hope again. I thought I was dying and there was no way out of the mental hell I was in. By the grace of God. I am doing so much better. And honestly, could be doing even better. I just need to be more intentional. But he knew all of this stuff for years!! If you are not doing well. How is your gut?? I now don’t eat gluten (inflamitory or milk) to keep the inflammation a bay. I know some people don’t get this whole gluten then but trust me. If you have ibs, anxiety, depression, getting sick all the time-, there’s a reason. Don’t just let a doctor give you some pills to manage it. Dive in and find what’s the problem. There’s hope! I will share this with who ever because I know the mental hell and physical pain and how hard that was.

  • When SIBO dies off it will produce toxins that are very toxic to the brain. Take Molybdenum, Pantethine, and Pantothenic Acid to neutralize the toxins!

  • Hi doctor, how do I know if I suffer from brain fog? I have this feeling where everything seems so out of focus and so surreal. I have a harder time concentrating and see things kind of unclear not really blurry just unclear. I don’t really know if what I’m suffering is really brain fog, but I just don’t really know how else to explain it. I had an MRI of my brain done in February and everything came back normal. Feeling this is making me panic

  • How long would it take to kill off the bad bacteria if you combine the first two methods (strengthening stomach acid + taking probiotics)? approximately

  • I am currently taking Sertraline (Zoloft) and am looking for ways to safely uptake my dopamine levels (wellbutrin is unavailable in the UK, and can cause seizures if taken with SSRis) thank you for the information!

  • Thank you Doc. I didn’t know that I had brain fog. But Somebody told me that i had it today and that’s how I got on the internet and YT to look it up. Many thanks. Interestingly, I seem to develop constipation in the mornings after my 1st visit to the bathroom and around the time that I am about to leave for work. By this time i would have finished breakfast also. I would have bloating as well. Brain fog is a recent phenomenon with me. But I also seem to develop tightness of neck muscles and shoulders. This will only go away after my next visit to the bathroom. Is there a connection between the gut and cervical muscles area? Thank you in advance for your reply.

  • I suffer from anxiety related stress and I find taking Bulgarian yoghurt helped tremendously in stabilizing my mood and anxiety. I believe there is a strong correlation between the mind and the gut biome.

  • yes I have hope now, these studies might help to people that suffers from depression, thank you SciShow, and I am learning everyday

  • Guys, for those of you looking for a natural solution you should definitely look at Kava-kava. It’s plant from the
pacific Islands (think Hawaii, Tahiti, Fiji, etc.) and has been used for thousands of years in ceremonies. It’s is not a placebo effect type of compound, it’s effects can be felt in minutes and are substantial. Bump me on this thread if you want to know more. I’m not saying pro or con about Primrose Oil like the pretty lady is saying, mind you and I don’t sell it or anything. You can just buy it on amazon and have it shipped to your house. It’s works for reals. Just trying to help.

  • Dr Sinclair This is great. I’m so grateful to have found this video. I feel I have brainfog and I burp and fart a lot as in more than usual I think. Fingers crossed this can help.

  • Dr Janelle, does gluten free and low FODMAP mean the same? I got confused now coz banana and onion are shown as high Fodmap foods in the Monash app but healthline.com says they are gluten free..

  • This didnt work for me. And i know why. Because she doesnt know what shes talking about. Brain fog has nothing to do with SIBO. Its a dysfunction in the dopamine system. Not damage but dysfunction. With brain fog you cannot focus and have low to no motivation. Brain fog is not a symptom of a disease but a side effect of a drug used to treat a disease. Many people who use ssris for long develop brain fog. for example.

  • I had panic disorder the way i manage to cure this sh*t was stoping all meds every single one of them and face my fears until im not afraid to die and force the panic attacks to Come over and over until it cant scare me i took me 4 mouths having panic attacks for 4 hours a Day but now i did not have a panic attack for 3 mouths i call it a job well done

  • I mean it makes sense that anxiety and depression are from trauma and external factors but I think we can only try so many things.

  • My anxiety, depression and insomnia definently brought on my severe brain fog. My short term memory and focus is badly impaired and my mood is beyond low, infact my emotions are flat. Will this diet still work for me

  • Dr Sinclair This is great. I’m so grateful to have found this video. I feel I have brainfog and I burp and fart a lot as in more than usual I think. Fingers crossed this can help.

  • Please advise. What do I tell my doctor to look for? (I’m having trouble finding a SIBO/FODMAP* educated ND or MD in rural U.S., and I’m faltering at self-diagnosis, so I kind of need my hand held by a specialist. For years I’ve had doctors who just shrug their shoulders if I refuse anti-deps, and end up recommending hypnosis, acupuncture, ECT, and other things that I intuitively know won’t help, and are expensive. I’m tired of chasing my tail.)

Just FYI for background: Ten years of debilitating brain fog. Thirty-six years of severe tinnitus. Lifetime depression/anxiety. Years of anti-deps and xanax. Pushed back, and now off of those drugs for 2 years (symptoms were never relieved by drugs). History of sporadic irritable bowl symptoms but cleared up when I cut out all simple sugars 2 years ago. Months ago discovered garlic & onions are major brain fog causes. Started to improve but Yo-Yo symptoms (brain fog/depression/louder tinnitus), i.e., everything can be going fine and then the fog rolls in for days to weeks. The worse my depression, the less will I have to be diligent. Vicious cycle ensues. But hey, a happy person lives inside me at an unassailable core, which is how I’ve made it this far.
*Tripped over FODMAP online but not sure if that is the path due to low IB symptoms and sometimes inconsistent results.

I take a bunch of supplements and vitamins which definitely helps. Growing up in poverty and a Dysfunctional family created a lot of long term problems for me.
Multi Vitamin, B Complex, D3, Probiotics, DHEA, and 5-HTP. I recently added an Apple Cider Vinegar capsule and Omega 3 because of my gut issues, especially with LPR. I seem to be getting better after years of suffering. I’ll have to try to add these foods to more meals!

  • Great information. No one’s ever talked about how we shouldn’t have bacteria in the small intestine. I’m going to try to implement this. Thank you

  • My anxiety, depression and insomnia definently brought on my severe brain fog. My short term memory and focus is badly impaired and my mood is beyond low, infact my emotions are flat. Will this diet still work for me

  • Can i do this with endometriosis? I get horrible brain fog and anxiety pmdd symptoms looking for help before second surgery I was taking microcyline for roceasea

  • Dear Janelle. Some time ago I asked you a question about histamine.
I have now discovered that I have MCAS, Mast cell activation syndrome. If you do not know that, it would be interesting, especially for your patients.

    Liebe Grüsse aus Zurich. Anita

  • I’ve had brain fog depression and anxiety feeling like I can’t catch my breath for years and my stomach has pains all the time with burning sensations. I’m always clinching my stomach and panting everyday all day and the doctors keep telling me it’s just anxiety and I’ve never had a worry in my life, it randomly showed up. My name is Ricky and I’m 22 years old and I’ve had this for 10 years of my life and I haven’t got enjoy my life or feel alive in present day. I need help please

  • I suffer from sibo and ibs and I use non yeast based probiotics and it has helped my lactose intolerance due to the lack on an enzyme my body didnt produce as for 9 years I believed I didnt need milk and ended up with calcium and vitamin D defiancey, if it went on another 5 years I could have ended up with brittle bones as I had shin splints and they were agonizing.
Now since I’ve had probiotic and replenished my calcium and vitamin D intake not only I’m physically healthy, but I used to suffer from severe anxiety panic attacks and now it’s the opposite.
The only time i would panic is if i spilt a drink on ps4 controller compared to when I would panic about not being use a toilet at public restrooms

  • Greetings from Malaysia.. Its such a blessing that i found your video Dr Janelle.. I have watched many of them and get to know abt natural healings and they are very helpful. • Than for doing these very informative videoscan you do videos on how to reduce symptoms of ADD/ADHD specifically thanks so much.from london

  • Our dog got a steroid injection last year (without our permission from the vet). Within seconds he started panting, his eyes bulged out, he went from calm to hyper in minutes and it hasn’t stopped. The poor dog was bouncing off the walls jumping and freaking out. He was very well trained and knew many commands and tricks, and that all went away. We were afraid we would have to have him euthanized because he was out of control and a nervous wreck, us too! We dealt with this for all this time, then started him on high amounts of probiotics. Guess what? He is calming down, and his eyes have pretty much stopped bulging. I feel so bad for animals and people who are the victims of the ignorance and stupidity of people in the medical profession who have no idea of what they are doing and don’t bother to learn the truth of their profession which is NOT to heal but gain a profit, or who just don’t give a damn. There ARE safe alternatives to steroids and other deadly drugs. Great video. (Funny how the word “probiotics” isn’t accepted as a word by YouTube. Censorship.)

  • Dr janella sinclair doing good job, very informative, and appreaciate your straight on topic rather prolonging, BUT THE CONCERN IS SO MUCH EGO SOUND, PLEASE SET MIC NEAR TO NECK…

  • to everyone still suffering from brain fog, i cant not stress keto or at the very least no sugar diets enough! the clarity is well worth ditching your birthday cake! lookup dr berg on youtube he is godsent!

  • I am currently taking Sertraline (Zoloft) and am looking for ways to safely uptake my dopamine levels (wellbutrin is unavailable in the UK, and can cause seizures if taken with SSRis) thank you for the information!

  • I am always wary of research on mice, there are key differences in our anatomy and until we can do an observational study on humans regarding this i wouldn’t count it as too significant yet.

  • For some reason i get depressed after finishing a Netflix show. I finished Timeless today and i am so depressed. I fell in love with the characters and the plot. Any suggestions to just enjoy the movie and not get depressed after it?

  • When SIBO dies off it will produce toxins that are very toxic to the brain. Take Molybdenum, Pantethine, and Pantothenic Acid to neutralize the toxins!

  • I am from nepal and your english is quite difficult to understand so plz reply me madam about this medicine and how to take it plz.waiting 4 yr reply

  • I mean it makes sense that anxiety and depression are from trauma and external factors but I think we can only try so many things.

  • Thank you for a healthy insight.
In my experience medical doctors (the ones I have met in the last 20 years) do not have any knowledge of nutrition. And even worse, they have had their common sense educated out of them. They seem obsessed by “treating” with toxic chemicals.

  • Hi Dr. M, please keep making these! Do you still recommend 150 mg Lithium for depression and preventative for Alz? TIA for answering.

  • Stress causes illness, resistance in life causes the body to go into fight or flight. When discernment kicks in. Use it! It’s a message from the brain to protect you….. If you live in truth, you’ll do what is right, and your gut will flow…and your immunity will be most healthy….live in truth for a healthy life.

  • I was on lorazepam and Zoloft. The withdrawals from lorazepam were horrible. I lost my insurance and was unable to pay for meds. I started working out and eating right but still had horrible anxiety. I lost 80 lbs. but still feel depressed. Started drinking protein shakes with probiotics and felt better. I realize it was something I was eating. Plain Greek yogurt help me so much too. Stop taking meds since 2013 haven’t had to go back on them.

  • The good bugs in your head literally MOVED you to watch this and similar videos in their effort to beat down the bad bugs becoming too numerous in your brain. Imagine all human behavior is the result of microbe maintenance. Even your concept of “self” is theater played out by one central microbe in the human body. There is a reason people high on powerful drugs act like they see bugs all over their skin.

  • There are current studies looking at the bacteria in the gut of “normal” people and comparing to the gut bacteria people with MS. From what I have heard there are significant differences.

  • I’m here trying to build a case for a natural approach to treating my MS by strengthening my blood brain barrier/improving my gut-brain microbiome. At the moment, I don’t believe I actually have MS. I believe that the antibiotic I was on for an infected finger crossed my blood brain barrier because it was weak, poisoning me and causing damage to some of the myelin and altering my body’s functions. Lots of natural approaches to treatment use blood brain barrier/gut-brain microbiome science. I’ve decided that this is the best approach for me because it means that I’m completely in control of my own “treatment” and won’t be opening myself up to unwanted side effects or risks. I think that MS, Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases are actually results of weakened blood brain barriers/gut-brain microbiomes and that by finding ways to strengthen the barriers between the body and the brain, we can reduce or even eliminate the risks of neurodegeneration. I REALLY hope I’m right. Next month I’ll be telling my neurologist all this and hope that he will support my logic and my choice

  • Dr Janelle, does gluten free and low FODMAP mean the same? I got confused now coz banana and onion are shown as high Fodmap foods in the Monash app but healthline.com says they are gluten free..

  • thanks for your video. just one advice. next time try to look at the camera lens instead of the monitor cause it feels like you are talking to someone else and we are just witnessing it. thanks again, keep it up the good work. peace and love

  • Humans are made up of more microbes than human cells. Bacteria has always existed and everything came after. SO… Are WE and ALL other lifeforms the evolution of intelligent microbiomes? Plausible.

  • so does this mean we don’t know what bacteria are real probiotic? as some probictic microbes we thought were good could be affecting the brain negatively, and probably causing the sale of more mental health medications.

  • I have struggle with brain fog for 5 years I’m a mom and is so awful to go everywhere and find no help this sounds better I’ll try it.

  • I think the microbiome is responsible for maintaining intestinal acidity which pushes gas out of the digestive system so if you don’t have a healthy microbiome, then gas becomes trapped in your system and that’s what causes low serotonin levels. It can be temporarily fixed by chugging an acidic beverage such as grapefruit juice.

  • Jesus this woman gets on the nerves. Is it a frikin robot. Shifting the body around like one aswell as the voice. Can’t listen to this

  • How long would it take to kill off the bad bacteria if you combine the first two methods (strengthening stomach acid + taking probiotics)? approximately

  • I am scared that I have Genital Herpes in my gut:,( I am scared it will damage the good bacteria in my gut, I am feeling suicidal.:(

  • Hi,
I feel difficult to read and listen anything even I can’t concentrate on anything even I have no interest in anything even in the things which was pleasure to me even I’m writing this I face difficulty in my focus is this brain fog???? And it is very difficult to explain because I’m not feeling any good things or even bad my mind is not working n I also face difficulty in to recall my memories or anything pls help pls

  • I have really bad brain fog but it’s been stuck with me ever since I used to get High all the time off edibles I even thought I had brain damage and the hospital I went to couldn’t find what what wrong with me. Nobody takes me serious what do I do???

  • This is a super-interesting and extremely well-done presentation. I have just gone through an entire course on the microbiome on the edX platform which I think is rather boring in comparison. Thank you very much and keep up the fantastic work!

  • Thank you for a healthy insight.

  • Eating food makes people feel good. Little food crumbs don’t get pumped into your brain. The things that “eat” your food might not want to or be able to get inside your brain either. Doesn’t mean that the byproducts don’t fit. Example like sugar gets broken down into different pieces than fat. Except this list is incredibly complex not just two different things. Maybe out of the mix some things can only eat certain things so eating only explicitly one thing might help only certain things thrive. Maybe like a garden, feeding flowers. Certain foods grow certain flowers that react certain ways.

  • In a video about the microbiome the channel What I’ve Learned made, he talks about how certain bacteria might cause autism. He tells the story of a kid who was developing normally, but after several antibiotics courses started acting weird and was later diagnosed with severe autism. Noticing a link between the antibiotics and the sudden autism, the mother dove into the studies and found that antibiotics could cause autism-like behaviour in mice. Antibiotics targeted a lot of bacteria, but not a certain bacterium which was also overly present in autistic children’s guts. So she found a doctor willing to experiment and gave her son a antibiotic targeted specifically at this bacterium and the autism in the kid slowly became less.
I find it very interesting how much your microbiome affects your brain and how it could be the cause of a lot of mental issues. Another example: a transplantation of gut microbiome between two sisters led the receiving sister to become overweight like the other sister, even though she didn’t change her diet or workout schedule.
Future research about this topic really could result in a lot of problems disappearing, it’s amazing

    Thank you!

  • to everyone still suffering from brain fog, i cant not stress keto or at the very least no sugar diets enough! the clarity is well worth ditching your birthday cake! lookup dr berg on youtube he is godsent!

  • RoundUp weed killer was initially invented to be used as an antibiotic that was to kill ALL microbes. Well, they found that it does, and then some. It kills all plants and all bacteria in the soil. It kills bugs/insects, birds, mice, and the animals that ingest those. Antibiotics are deadly for flora and fauna by killing the immune systems.

  • I am trully wond3ering about if it is that is a factor of mood…what is exactly about the cosmic energy that one carries..chakras Kundalini call in what it is. what is that concept on science

  • Great video!
I don’t know if anyone has tested this, but could the reason the mice were getting more stressed be because their gut wasn’t creating as much seratonin, due to the reduced variety of gut microbes? I didn’t read the paper, but it seems plausible to me.
